Canoeing area
The Little Amazon Takuapa, also known as Sang Ne canal, is a must-visit attraction in Phang Nga. The area earned its nickname due to the rich biodiversity of the mangrove forest, providing a home to various species and diverse wildlife. Visitors can embark on a guided boat tour lasting about 75 minutes, during which they can observe birds, snakes, and other wildlife while learning about the natural surroundings from knowledgeable guides.
very nice tour! our guide was very nice and took us directly into the mangroves to take cute photos. Unfortunately he spoke very little to no english. We booked a couple days in advance over whatsapp.
Notorious L — Google review
We had a great experience, the trip was an hour long, the guide was nice and showed us some birds, lizard and snake. In the dry season the river is not high and it’s better to come after 13pm
Adi O — Google review
We came in the morning, and the tide was high. We saw a few snakes sleeping in the trees, beautiful owls, a few crabs, and lots of birds and butterflies. It was a great experience. Our tour guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Totally worth it.
Andrea C — Google review
Really nice boat excursion. Saw heaps of birds and snakeswe went on a motorboat tour with our two kids but you can also get canoes. Definitely recommend! Note that there are two businesses next to each other. The other one was more expensive and aggressively tried to herd us into their premises using yellow flags.
James C — Google review
Really disappointed with this little Amazon tour. We bought a ticket for a canoe tour for 1000 bhat. You don’t see the river from the ticket area or we wouldn’t have bought tickets. We were then shocked to see how low the water level was. The tour guide was very friendly and nice, we do not feel it’s his fault as he wasn’t the one who sold us the tour. However, he literally had to drag the boat majority of the way as the water level was so low. We were scraped along the river bed most of the time which was very uncomfortable. He barely paddled as he had to walk pushing the canoe. We only got about half way down the river and had to turn back as the there was logs blocking the route. When we arrived back, the staff were aware how low the water level was. We asked for a partial refund, which they agreed to give us 300 bhat. Considering we only completed half of the route and we had been scraped the whole way by branches and rocks we didn’t think the refund was sufficient. We were then shocked when they offered a discount on a tour the next day! It’s ridiculous considering our experience they think we would come back and give them more money. Would not recommend.
Robbie D — Google review
We had a lovely 1 hour guided canoe trip down the river and back with Moo. He was very informative and pointed out many mangrove snakes and a python resting in the banyan trees. The two thousand bhat price was a bit on the high side for what it was but we enjoyed it.
Moyra S — Google review
At first we saw their price was 500baht per boat for kayak, and 700baht for motor boat. It was from a Thailand tourism website, but they denied. They asked for 800baht for kayak, and 1200baht for motor boat. I think after we came they changed the details of the website and the Thailand tourism website were removed from the google map. We were on with the price but just feels that we were being cheated. And the couple that talked to us were very rude. Even with no wildlife to see in the afternoon, there’s just a bunch of trees and to experience the boat trip. We managed to see 3 snakes sleeping on the branches. The reason I gave only 2 stars, it’s because of the feeling of being scammed and the rudeness of the couple. Recommend: maybe. In the morning. Don’t come in the afternoon, it has nothing to see.
Kent G — Google review
We came here with motorbike and paid 500baht for about 45 minutes on the little amazon. Our tour guide was really friendly. We saw monkeys, snakes and different birds too.It was a great experience.

Khlong Sang-Ne, also known as Little Amazon, is a small canal located about a 30-minute drive from Khao Lak. It stretches from Khao Bang Tao to the Takua Pa River and is surrounded by lush rainforest teeming with diverse plant life. Visitors can take a one-hour canoe trip through the jungle, where they may encounter various wildlife such as monkeys and snakes. There are different providers offering boat tours, each with its own flag color, and prices can vary.
Amazing wild nature experience in Khlong Sang-Ne (Little Amazon). Canoe along wetland surrounded with more than 100 years old Banyan Trees. We saw 2 snakes resting on a tree branch in the afternoon. Our tour guide mentioned that they will be hunting in the evening. This place is not a zoo, so it's depends on many factors to get to see an animal. Overall satisfied. There are 2 companies running a canoe tour, pink and yellow. We took the yellow one.
Flowers B — Google review
Nice and exciting tour however quite busy. We saw only monkeys, but this all depends on many factors totally recommendable. Ask ahead about the water conditions. In the exposed areas it can get also very hot
Vladimir K — Google review
There are two companies and it was funny how aggressively they both were waving their flags on the road. We had reservations with the red boat one so they were wasting energy. :) We maybe got lucky because the yellow boat people we passed all looked disappointed, but we had a really great time. Our guides were hilarious. I could not believe how our guide could spot snakes curled up high in the trees when it only looked like a black shadow to me. Other boats were just going past wondering what we were looking at. We saw at least a dozen mangrove snakes, another kind of snake, various birds, young water monitor lizards, and a troop of monkeys. I don't remember how much it cost but it was the off season and my Thai spouse probably negotiated a deal since we got two boats. Your experience may vary but we had a fun and memorable experience.
Kbb P — Google review
It was a nice experience, a lot of nice view on the boat passing through wild animals such as monkeys, sleeping snake etc. As well as nice boat drivers. Also, some amazing beautiful trees in the environment that are worth to visit in the middle of forest. Overall nice experience.
Morteza E — Google review
amazing one hour canoe trip trough a jungle. my understanding is there are two providers (yellow and pink flag). we chosed the pink one which was a mistake the most probably. the price was 1 000 baht for canoe, our expectation was 500 baht.
Jan — Google review
Nice place to visit if you want to explore wild nature around Phang-nga. Don't have high expectations coming here to see wild life or something exciting. Just come here to relax. The locals and staffs are very friendly.
The M — Google review
It’s a small water canal which has a lot of tree like Banyan, Mangrove. People say that you can observe conservation birds and many snakes here (but I didn’t see one). It’s really quite place where the main activity is canoeing to observe the nature (~500 baht/round trip). However, it’s quite expensive in my perspective. Anyway, for those who like adventuring, this place is not for you.
Pakawat N — Google review
Super cool place from Phang-nga Province. The little boat will paddle you through the typical mangrove forest where they call "little amazon". I would say that they should the word "amazon" b/c this area has its own character and charming. You will see many kind of snake within 40 min boating.

Takua Pa Walking Street is an authentic local market that takes place on Sundays, offering a wide variety of traditional Thai food, sweets, and snacks. It's a great opportunity for tourists interested in immersing themselves in the local culture and history by taking a leisurely walk around the small 'old town'. The absence of tourist-focused Western stalls makes it a genuine experience. Visitors can also explore old buildings and shops that have remained unchanged for years.
Love this culture walking street especially on a Sunday. The street is full of vendors selling local delicacies so a must visit for those who want to try some street food. There are performances too during our visit as CNY is just around the corner.
YC K — Google review
The walking street was really lively with lots of people around - I just wish I had remembered to take some photos. But I have to say, I especially loved the murals. They added so much character to the area

Takua Pa Walking Street was an amazing experience! The street food here is easily one of the best in the area, with a great variety of delicious options to choose from. It’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in Khao Lak. We enjoyed trying some local fruits and fresh fruit juices — everything was so flavourful and fresh. Highly recommend stopping by! 🌟🍢🍉🥤

Such a lovely place. Went on market day and it was busy but not super overwhelming. Great little cafes you can go and relax at too
Summer M — Google review
Excellent Sunday market and wonderful shops for regular weekday and evening visits. Coffee shops here are next level awesome. The Sunday 3-7p market has incredible food vendors and a few artisan items. Come for the vibes, leave with a full belly and smiling face. Street performers and dancers add to the ambiance. 💖

Nestled in the charming neighborhood of Takua Pa, Wat Sena Nucharangsan is a captivating temple that reflects the rich cultural heritage of the area. Built between the late 19th and early 20th centuries, this ancient site features stunning architecture that blends traditional Thai elements with European influences. Visitors can explore its serene surroundings, which include large cement pillars and a museum showcasing local history. The temple's clean and shady environment makes it an ideal spot for quiet reflection or leisurely strolls.

Ancient temple in the old town of takuapa in Phang Nga. The main hall was built since King Rama III by the governor of the takuapa. Buddha statues are from Ayudhya, Laos, Myanmar and some were offered by the King Rama IX. In the old days, the sacred ceremony temple used to be the place to take the oath of the royalty. The temple has a museum to present its remaining valuable items.

The International Tsunami Museum is a solemn tribute to the catastrophic events of December 26, 2004, when a powerful tsunami wreaked havoc in the Thai islands. Housed in a two-story building on Phetkasem Road, the museum features compelling exhibits including photos and videos documenting the destructive force of the waves. One notable display is the stranded police boat, serving as a poignant reminder of the disaster's impact.
Gerat experience and insight into the Tusnami in 2004 great staff visitor center eith 7 min video on the disaster small gift shop on site free entry and free parking
Steve — Google review
This place called 'museum' is not worth visiting it. It costs 300 Bath for 1 adult. It is not free entrance! Inside you only see pictures after the tsunami and a simple video how a tsunami exists. Both you can see by surfing on the Internet. Outside you see a stranded police boat which was thrown 2 km's inside the land, but for take a picture from the streets, you don't need to go inside the museum for buying a ticket. 50 meters before the museum there is a shop at the left side, also with pictures and handy craft. Entrance is free. Never seen such a bad accommodated 'museum'.
Martin D — Google review
There's a structure that represents the size of the tsunami wave, which is quite interesting. There's also a police boat that got washed inland 2 kilometers, where the boat is still standing now. Put aside from that, there's not much else to see. You could be there 10 minutes
Jessie R — Google review
Basic museum but videos upstairs worth watching available in English, German and French. 1 HR 20 mins long but a must see. Nice little gift shop. Boat was under mesh due to construction but you could still see it well enough. Its huge size brings home the sheer power of the tsunami that could throw it 2km inland.
Valerie C — Google review
A good place to visit, a somber moment to reflect on the power of nature and its possible destruction. Many lives were lost and disrupted, those who were saved or survived are thankful that they have been given another chance. Stark reminder of humanity against nature.
YT K — Google review
Wow, wanted to come here last year but didn't get the chance. To truly understand what happened here with the tsunami you need to visit this place. It took my breath away. Just letting you know that their are some graphic images on display but also some great stories. Khao lak had the highest death rate in Thailand from the Tsunami.
Andrew B — Google review
A lot of critical reviews on here but it’s worth noting that this is a non profit organisation. Yes the displays could be better and the videos better quality, however the visit still brings out the horrific disaster that the people of Khao Lak went through (and many others). If you want to save money look on YouTube but if you want to support the cause then pay them a visit. The memorial park is currently under renovation so no access to police boat
Ian M — Google review
I am unsure how people can give low ratings for the "experience" of this place. It is small and could do with a slightly better layout. That is not the point of this place though. Go there, watch the videos, look at the pictures, then hold your kids tight and just be grateful that you were not one of those who died.

Nestled along Bang Niang Beach Road, Mojo Thai Restaurant is a delightful gem that promises an upscale dining experience infused with bold flavors and elegant presentations. This charming eatery is perfect for a romantic evening out, where you can savor beautifully prepared seafood dishes alongside refreshing cocktails. The menu boasts an array of delectable options, including standout favorites like Prawns in Tamarind Sauce and Red Curry Duck.
we came here during rush hour. The waiters had their hands full with customers. Nevertheless, the service worked flawlessly. Just like in a better European restaurant. We ate fried prawns and papaya salad for starters. Both dishes were beautiful and really tasty. For dinner we ate redcurry and fried rice in pineapple. Red curry was by far the top 3 of my life. Probably the best I've eaten in Thailand over the years. A really big recommendation!!

The best meal we've had in two weeks in Thailand. Everything was absolutely perfect. It was also the first time I've felt a restaurant here has really understood and cared about allergies. I only wish we'd found it before our last night so we could go again. Prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality, and they don't automatically add on a service charge like most places or any other charges. The staff are also incredibly friendly and helpful. Thank you again for an amazing meal and I hope we get to come back again soon.

Fantastic. Nice service, great presentation, outstanding flavours. I am a huge foodie and really pay attention to different ingredients. They knocked it out of the park. We loved it so much we went back 3 times. Also on top of their Thai dishes don't miss their western salads.. I'm still dreaming of them. Delicious! Update July 2023: went back with husband this time and it also quickly became his favourite and we visited 3 times during our stay. This place is unreal, best food in Thailand!

My wife and I have been in Thailand for almost 2 weeks and so far the food has been OK at best in the many places we've eaten. We came across Mojo Thai as we were walking down the street and thought we'd give it a try. I write this review as I sit inside the restaurant because it has been incredible! Atmosphere, decor, service, and food, all 10/10. My wife had the Tomato Soup to start and the Vegan Pad Thai and I had the Chicken Satay to start followed by the Crispy Duck with Garlic and Pepper Sauce with Egg Fried Rice. All food was served promptly and was lovely and hot as well as tasty. No doubt we'll be coming back! Thank you, Mojo Thai!

Spinach Restaurant offers a great dining experience with friendly staff and delicious food. While some customers experienced chaotic service, others found the atmosphere enjoyable for families, with kids enjoying the koi fish ponds. The restaurant serves authentic Thai flavors and has a vegetarian menu that can be easily modified to be vegan. The location is beautiful, and sitting inside provides a peaceful ambiance away from the main road. Overall, it's recommended for its good food at reasonable prices and pleasant staff.
We've tried a few restaurants in this part of Khaolak and this was one of our favorites. The staff are super friendly and attentive when needed. The food was really tasty and decently spicy (if you ask for it). They have a few items on the menu that I haven't seen elsewhere like the melinjo leaf soup (delicious). The cocktails were good as well.

Amazing introduction to the Thai food. Every dish was incredible. Full of flavour, amazing size servings, and cheap. The service was beyond amazing. Gracious, kind, and accommodating. Always a busy place and recommended by locals, it did not disappoint. Best pad Thai I've ever had. Seafood was nice and fresh too.
Lisa T — Google review
I’ll start with the positive They have a whole vegetarian menu and the service was great The food was too spicy for me, but that’s of course a matter of taste The apple juice was made from a concentrate that didn’t taste very good. But what concerns me that most is that they have an integrated water channel in the restaurant that surrounds the kitchen and is packed with fish. I thinks it’s very disturbing to see these animals trapped in this extreme small environment. The times in which we hold animals captive for our amusement or solely for decoration should be over.

We came here early on during our stay. The place from the outside doesn’t do justice on the inside - the scenery around where you eat is beautiful and the toilets have a gorgeous water feature. Food was fantastic - probably the best we had during our 12 days in Khao Lak. Best prawns we had in Thailand. Service incredibly friendly. 100% recommend a visit!

If you're looking for a delicious Thai seafood restaurant with outdoor seating, Pam's is the spot for you. They offer both Thai and Asian dishes, as well as healthy options, making it a great place to eat any time of day. And if you're in the mood for some cocktails or some live music later on in the night, they have that too!
Incredible food and service - honestly the best Thai restaurant I have been globally. The food is cooked and presented with thoughtfulness and love. The staff are incredibly kind as is the gracious Pam who came to talk to us. The setting has been built over 13 years and is an experience in itself. Thank you for the lovely time Pam - the night was just perfect.

We visited Pam’s four times during our stay in Khao Lak, and each time was a wonderful experience. The garden setting creates a truly magical atmosphere. The food is excellent, with top-quality ingredients – the green curry was absolutely outstanding. Pam herself is a warm and charming host, and her team is always friendly, attentive, and provides exceptional service. A place we would return to anytime!

Highly recommend and now understand why you would want to book ahead for a table at Pam’s. Quality ingredients used in a broad menu, it’s hard to pick what to eat and we sought recommendations from staff. The pomelo salad was a stand out for me. Kids happy to have nuggets, chips and onion rings alongside fresh fruit smoothies. The setting is like a little oasis. Pam came through the restaurant as we were wrapping up our meal to say hello. We appreciated hotel pick up and drop off as options.

This was an excellent experience for us in Khao Lak. We were fortunate to be accommodated for a table for two at short notice and we were welcomed by the owner who explained how the business had grown from humble beginnings. We wanted to book a cooking class with Pam but she is fully booked for the foreseeable future. She recommended us to Pui and we booked her cooking class. When we tried the food we very quickly realised why the cooking classes were so popular. The presentation, flavours and textures of each dish and cocktail were perfect and we were really happy with the service received. The restaurant is in a beautiful setting with lots of flowers and greenery. Pam also runs a complimentary shuttle from JW Marriott Khao Lak which was well received by us and other guests.

Excellent traditional Thai food, in a beautiful garden setting, with attentive and helpful staff. The backstory to this fabulous place is it started in 2003 with just a couple of tables and one cooker, serving hotel workers. Now it's a beautiful outside dining experience, with excellent food, lively atmosphere and great staff. Food was reasonably priced and delicious. Taxi can be arranged to/from your hotel, and bookings are made via Facebook. The garden is a labour of love, built up by Pam herself, who will delight in talking to you when you visit. If you only go to one restaurant in Khao Lak, you should go here.

Just go! Pam's is a gem, this is our 12th night in Thailand and Pam's is the standout restaurant for us - beautiful setting, delicious freshly made food - the shrimp cakes and spring rolls we had to start you could tell were made fresh from scratch they were outstanding. Pam's will arrange pickup from your hotel, just message them on Facebook. We are going back in 3 days, can't wait.

We discovered this restaurant after a google search showed it to be top rated. We arranged a taxi pick up from our hotel with the restaurant. (A small charge was included on our food bill) On our arrival we found the restaurant was festooned with plants and greenery and had a number of different dining areas all seperated by the plants etc. The service was great with the common theme of lovely smiling attentive Thai staff. The food was the most authentic we have had since arriving in Thailand, so that is another big tick for this restaurant. The evening was rounded off with a very affordable bill including our two teansfers. If you are nearby get booked. Bookings are needed here.

(Translated by Google) Extremely average restaurant, which we only went to by mistake because we actually wanted to go to the much better rated restaurant to the right. The price is slightly above average compared to other places, especially for Thai food, the taste and portion sizes are rather unremarkable.
