Surat Thani City Pillar Shrine

City pillar shrine
Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
Surat Thani City Pillar Shrine, also known as San Lak Muang, is a well-maintained symbol of the city located in the heart of Surat Thani. The shrine is made entirely from the wood of the Golden Shower Tree and is beautifully lit up at night, resembling a castle from a Disney movie. It's open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and visitors can purchase flowers and incense sticks at the entrance.
Really cool. Free entrance. There were even people running around it while others were offering flowers and coloured stripes to the gods. A lovely place.
Rafel B — Google review
“Surat Thani Pillar Shrine: A Hidden Gem of Ancient Energy” The Surat Thani Pillar Shrine is a truly mesmerizing place. The moment you step inside, you can feel a unique energy flowing through the building—almost as if the very ethers are being pulled through its walls. This shrine holds an air of ancient wisdom, a quiet power that connects you to the deep history of the region. It’s not just beautiful; it’s a spiritual experience that invites reflection and awe. A must-visit for anyone seeking a connection to ancient knowledge and the tranquil energy of the past. 🛕
BinoGotti — Google review
The Surat Thani City Pillar Shrine is a true gem in the city of Surat Thani and a place that every visitor should definitely experience. As soon as you enter the shrine, you will be amazed by the impressive architecture and tranquil atmosphere. The intricately designed statues and the loving attention to detail reflect the rich culture and tradition of Thailand. The central pillar, which is considered a symbol of the city, is particularly impressive. It is not only a spiritual place for the locals, but also a fascinating photo opportunity for tourists. You immediately feel the peaceful energy that surrounds this place and it is easy to get caught up in the moment. Many people come here to pay their respects and ask for luck for their families and friends. The location of the shrine is also excellent. Surrounded by lush greenery and close to several other important attractions, it is perfect for a relaxing stroll. Access to this sacred place is easy and the surrounding area is clean and well maintained. Overall, I highly recommend the Surat Thani City Pillar Shrine. Whether you are looking for spirituality, a cultural experience or just a peaceful place, this shrine offers all that and more. An absolute must for any Surat Thani visitor!
Matt E — Google review
This is a beautiful shrine surrounded by some well kept lovely gardens . Not a destination attraction but definitely worth the detour if passing nearby . Lots of street parking and no fee to enter .
David H — Google review
Beautiful - smaller than expected, but a nice stop on the way 🌟
Magnus S — Google review
Nice little shrine to walk through if you’re passing by, but it’s not worth travelling for otherwise. The place is lit up beautifully at night although they close it so you can’t get close by. In daytime it’s nice to sit by for a short while and just relax as it’s very quiet without many visitors.
Anthony J — Google review
Nice shrine in Surat Thani. Clean. Good walking area. Well lighted at night.
Rod L — Google review
If in Surat, this is a must see. At night the lights make it more beautiful. I onced prayed here than the next day won 17$ on lottery it's a lucky place.

Surat Thani City Fresh Market

Mentioned on

Market
Marketing agency
Surat Thani City Fresh Market is a typical Thai market offering a wide variety of fresh products such as meats, seafood, and vegetables. Visitors can also find fresh flowers and orchids at the entrance, where locals hand-make garlands. The second floor features dry foods like candy, canned goods, and snacks, making it convenient for picking up souvenirs. This bustling market caters to both locals looking for fresh ingredients and tourists seeking an authentic shopping experience.
Big market that has a little bit of everything. You can find a meal or all the cooking ingredients needed to make a delicious dish at home.
David L — Google review
This isn’t a market for tourists per se. Unless you need produce or some fresh cut meats you won’t much here for consumption. If you like to see the ‘local way’ you might enjoy walking through the market. For the average person, it is pretty dirty and unorganized. Depends what you are looking for
BackpackingAndy — Google review
Interesting market for the locals fresh fish chicken pork a lot of produce some cooked items some clothing items something for everybody worth having a look
Yesitis D — Google review
As a tourist it is an interesting place to visit. Typical Thai fresh market, that has lots of fresh products including, meats, seafood and fresh vegetables. At the front enterance, on the right is a stall selling fresh flowers and orchids. You can also see the locals hand making garlands
Kevin — Google review
Nice local market. Good for wondering around or for locals to pickup some fresh ingredients. Not much to do for tourist. 2nd floor has some dry food like candy canned food and snacks. Good for picking up souvenirs too.
Kentarouification — Google review
You can find anything to cook your lunch! Fresh ingredients - that's why people come here. Don't forget to bring your bag! Remember: if you don't reuse it - refuse it.
Strabby C — Google review
You'll get what you need. The shops inside weren't so impressive and it's dull. Most people shop outside, behind the market building. A huge wet market, some vegetable shops, coconut milk etc. Both quite messy and smelly. Also more chaotic than usual.
Lily — Google review
Wide selection of Thai street food, fruits and of course clothes, souvenirs, etc. Mostly I liked the food I have not seen at any other fresh market in Thailand.

Day & Night of Suratthani

Mentioned on
1 list
$$$$expensive
Restaurant
Day & Night in Suratthani is a versatile restaurant that offers a fusion of Thai, Asian, and European cuisine. The ambiance is reminiscent of a New York brewpub, making it an ideal spot for fine dining or casual coffee breaks. Open until midnight, the establishment serves an array of dishes including highly recommended Hojicha latte for caffeine enthusiasts. While the atmosphere is generally great across all branches, some patrons have noted occasional temperature discomfort and dish serving order issues.
This place is a must-visit for anyone wanting to experience authentic Thai cuisine in a “European” setting. We tried the braised pork, a signature dish of watermelon with fish, a delicious starter, and rice with pineapple and shrimp. Every dish was bursting with flavor and love! I’ve found that, in this special spot, the spiciness of the food truly complements the flavors instead of overwhelming them, which has been a rare delight for me. Each dish felt like a beautiful symphony, not just for the taste buds but for the heart too. I was also pleasantly surprised by the aftertaste. Usually, I can have some side effects after trying new foods, but not this time! I think it reflects the quality and harmony of the flavors I experienced.
Kseniia P — Google review
Recently dined at Day & Night. It was an amazing experience from start to finish. The ambiance was cozy and lively, making it a perfect spot for casual dining. As for the food, it was delicious and beautifully presented. The prices were great value for the quality, and overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Ploy — Google review
I got red wine watermelon smoothie medium rare steak coconut curry and finished with a Thai tea tiramisu. Everything was perfection. The meat was cut with a spoon it was so tender the curry had amazing flavor. The wine was so nice and the smoothie was so refreshing. The dessert had multiple different custard toppings from a coffee flavored one to a raspberry flavored one. Not my favorite in the world but it was different and it was super good and for somebody else they may love it. All in all it was delicious. Pricey but delicious. That meal came out to be around 1200 baht. It was super good however and if I wanted to splurge on a nice dinner again I would return.
Josh G — Google review
The food here is absolutely delicious! The starters are great, the pizzas are definitely a highlight, and the ribs were perfectly cooked—tender, flavorful, and seasoned to perfection. If you’ve got room for dessert, don’t hesitate; they’re fantastic and won’t disappoint. The only downside was the seating. Inside, the restaurant was quite loud, and the air conditioning was a bit too strong. Outside was more pleasant, but there were quite a few mosquitos. However, these minor inconveniences didn’t take away from the overall experience. All in all, it’s a fantastic spot for a satisfying meal and comes highly recommended!
Joagat — Google review
One of the best places to have dinner in Surat Thani. Great atmosphere but a bit loud. Excellent and diveres food and wines.
Marc L — Google review
Omg just passing through on the way to the airport and we wish we were staying g for more meals here! This place gets 5 stars for sure. Incredible delicious food and the service is top quality! We loved the suggestions and richly local culture dishes mixed with the usual international friendly pizza, burgers, fries…. But again… top quality. If only restaurants where I’m from in California were like this I’d be so happy!
Shawna B — Google review
The place itself looks great, and the servers were nice. However, I’d say the quality of the food doesn’t quite match the price. For example, the rice was very off! I didn’t enjoy the flavors or textures. The pork ribs, though, were great!
George A — Google review
Nice ambiance with eclectic western jass new age music. Great diverse selection of international beers. Mistake made on wife's order but waitress promptly corrected. I had the pork knuckles. I was disappointed: pork over cooked and the portion of creamed potatoes served was " miniscule". This is not a French fusion restaurant. It is a very nice western American style high quality restaurant where you should expect more generous portions to accompany your entrees. I wanted to give higher rating but the paper towel dispenser for drying face and hands in Men's bathroom was empty. When I asked supervisor at cashier if this is a Michelin, why weren't there any paper towels, she just shook her head like nothing was wrong.

With its well-kept surroundings and various exercise apparatus available, this pleasant public park offers a welcoming environment for individuals to work out and unwind.

Nothing interesting to see here. Very small park to walk. Loads of vans drivers are stopping here and sleep all over the park. Well maintained and clean park.
Izzati R — Google review
There is a playground for kids to play in
Anne D — Google review
Great place to rewind in Surat plenty of exercise places and a great long running track opened for public Wich was amazing. Came several times and loved the place and we will be back
Dr. F — Google review
Not a big park, but beautiful and quite. A lot of place to work out and just relax.
Ksenia O — Google review
Decent amount of parking but leaving the park during heavy traffic is rough. There is no traffic light or still sign at the intersection.
KURT — Google review
It's a park for activity. I couldnt find great quiet private areas to sit down. Its full of workout stuff. And a track. Many jog and exercise here. Great sized playground for kids its nice and classic as could be. I prefer the Koh Lamphu island for peace and quiet even though they have activity capability over there too. Needs to be expanded really from my observations, cut thru the tall grass outskirts and made into trails and or peaceful seating zones away from the main loop pond and "work out track" where its all about exercise at this park.

Awesome place good for biycling , running or kid friendly

Pracha Rat Floating Market in Bang Bai Mai, Surat Thani, is a vibrant hub of local culture that truly captures the essence of Thailand. Open exclusively on Sundays, this market invites visitors to explore an array of regional crafts and indulge in traditional foods and fresh fruits at affordable prices. To reach this lively destination, you’ll first pass through a serene Buddhist temple before crossing a charming bridge into the heart of the market.
Leave lots of time to enjoy the goodness of this market. If you're foodie this market is for you. Every stall and cook an artisan. The environment is really beautiful and enjoyed by locals. Highly recommend a visit here.
Sue B — Google review
Absolutely lovely place very authentic did not see any foreigners at all very cheap I will definitely go back here on my next visit
Lloyd — Google review
Very good place local food and local environment you can also take boat to inside of canals.
Mr. M — Google review
Very nice place. Sunday market very exiting because many things I never saw before. Trip on the water just 100 baht for one boat and the staff is nice. Good in the market is cheap, tastefully and special
Winfried Z — Google review
Take the boat tour, very serene. Cost only 20 baht per person. The market is full of local food and there’s seating areas along the canal. Parking is well organized and available for free at the temple next to the market.
Phat K — Google review
This market open only on Sunday so check this before you go. Many nice shops with traditional foods and local products. U You can park in the temple and just walk across the bridge. There are also the tourist boat where you can spend sometimes with the canal and nature. People there are super 👍. This is another place in Suratthani you shouldn't miss.
Pattama D — Google review
You must first go through a Buddhist temple before crossing a bridge to get to this market. 'Floating market' isn't really floating, but is in the jungle. They have raft/family canoes to take people out on the waterway, which is like a small river that curves through the jungle. Great variety of food, at cheap prices. Worth a visit. Open on Sundays...
David L — Google review
Last week of our 5 week food safari of Chiangmai and Surat Thani. This is a beautiful and peaceful floating market, with a very wide range of food stalls, several shophouse style and also full restaurant style venues. A delightful place.

Sweet Kitchen

Restaurant
Sweet Kitchen is a delightful culinary gem that specializes in Thai cuisine, offering an array of traditional dishes alongside some international options. While they do serve pizza, their true strength lies in the vibrant flavors of their seafood and authentic Thai meals. The inviting atmosphere features charming tile floors and rustic wood and brick accents, making it a cozy spot for dining. With seating for over 20 guests, it's perfect for both intimate dinners and casual gatherings.
Good food. You can customize you're food accordingly . This is best place if you're vegetarian and want to get good food in Surat Thani Host is amazing and has excellent communication skills so very easy to order as you want the sldish to be cooked.
Lakshya P — Google review
Found this place a year ago while waiting for the night ferry and was very happy to discover it had amazing craft beers locally brewed in Thailand 🇹🇭 One year later even happier to find it still here and even more craft beers! Reasonably priced too compared to everywhere else I've found them. Really friendly staff too happy to talk about beer and anything else 😄🙏. Highly reccomend popping in if you're waiting for the boat or just exploring Suratthani.
Ian I — Google review
We noticed Sweet Kitchen as we were walking by, it looked nice so we went in. We took a seat and menus were brought over. I ordered the Garlic Pepper Chicken and Spring Rolls. My girlfriend ordered Stir Fried Chicken with Basil and Rice. The interior was attractive with tile floors and wood and brick on the walls. There is seating for 20+ inside. We both enjoyed our meals, very tasty! There is one thing, it's just a pet peeve of mine and I didn't deduct from the final score because of it. One of the tables was being used as an office, the owner (I'm guessing) was sitting there working on his laptop. In my opinion the dining area is for customers, not for office work. I find it distracting and it takes away from the overall enjoyment of the dining experience.
Mike B — Google review
The food was reall6 fresh and light. Imagine all the Thai favors that you've enjoyed, but the lighter and just as tasty version. Pricing was great, and they're and ton of options for all types of eaters.
Trevour D — Google review
We walked past this restaurant and saw a nice and fun interior so decided to try it. The prices are really low compared to the quality you get. Amazing food to be fair. The staff is really friendly and when I asked to recommend a Thai spicy dish, they delivered. Thank you a lot. If ever back, we be here again. Recommend!
Dennis E — Google review
I would like to present a Sweet Kitchen restaurant which also offers good food, good quality, good price, good service, good atmosphere and many values. I love it. I love pizza so much 🤤😊💗

Milano

Mentioned on
1 list
Restaurant
In Milano, an Italian restaurant in Surat Thani, you can take a break from the usual Thai cuisine and indulge in authentic Italian flavors. The restaurant is known for its hand-made, stone-baked pizzas and delectable pasta dishes. Despite its proximity to the pier, attracting ferry passengers looking for a meal, Milano's popularity is also due to its friendly staff and fresh, flavorful food. Customers rave about the lasagna and other international options on the menu.
Someone recommended us this place and it did not disappoint. The service was quick and the food was good compared to other places in SE-Asia. We had Spaghetti con Pollo and Pizza con Pollo.
Cosmina-Lavinia — Google review
Terrible pizza, overpriced, no flavor, staff are really rude and just want your money. Please don't waste your money here unless you enjoy giving people your money who hate you as foreigners. I'm sorry to say these things but I was charged 300 baht for tomotoe and mushroom on some bread, they won't see my money ever again. The place needs lessons on manners.
Natural T — Google review
Amazing quality! The food is delicious! The burger bun is homemade. The restaurant has a cozy Italian atmosphere. Highly recommended!😋
Anna — Google review
I’ve visited this pizza place in Surat Thani three times with a friend, and it’s been amazing every time. The pizzas are consistently delicious—thin crust, fresh ingredients, and packed with flavor. Each visit felt just as good as the first. The staff is friendly and welcoming, creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.
Hamish M — Google review
Owner and his family are excellent hosts. The pizza and pasta is the best I've had in Southern Thailand. Homemade pasta and many other tasty items. They love pizza so much the owners named their daughter Cheese.
Myke C — Google review
I had a lasagna tonight. I think this was one of the best I've had in Thailand. Real Italian taste, what even didn't need extra salt, pepper or whatever. The owner and staff are very friendly people, who will make you the best food they can. Everything fresh. The lasagna already cut to peaces. Tasted way better than it looks like in the picture.
Michel N — Google review
We were craving pizza and found this place — it was delicious! The crust is thin and crispy. I personally prefer it a bit thicker, as it was really just a very thin layer, but it was still super tasty. We had a Margherita pizza and it cost 250 baht. ( a bit expensive tho )
Paloma R — Google review
Decor is not great but the service and the food are very good. Both Italian and Mexican food. The chips and salsa (with real sour cream as well) were the best I've had in Thailand. Don't let the appearance fool you, it's an excellent restaurant.

Khao Sok National Park

National park
Nature & Parks
Hiking area
Khao Sok National Park, located in Surat Thani province, is a vast expanse of ancient rainforest and limestone cliffs. Visitors can spend their time hiking, exploring caves, and searching for wildlife. The park's Cheow Larn Lake offers surreal experiences with its mist-shrouded limestone formations and dense jungle surroundings. The area is home to diverse flora and fauna including monkeys, colorful birds, tigers, and unique plant species.
There are a handful of must-see places in Thailand, this is one, without a doubt. Doesn't matter if it's a day trip or overnight on the floating bungalows, do not miss this. A damn built in the 80s that basically flooded a whole region, so an artificial, giant lake in a biome that would normally not have one. Witness man playing God. Caves, jungle walks/hikes, wildlife, lush tropical forest and a cool story of how it all came to be. Words are hard to describe the enormity of this park and the awe you feel navigating it.
Mack B — Google review
I would definitely recommend a day trip to this park, with its huge lake, when you are visiting the Khao Lok area. We had a guided day tour (which I would recommend to see everything) and it was a memorable and enjoyable trip. We stopped at the Three Sisters limestone formations for some photos, and cruised around the lake. We stopped at one of the numerous and unique floating hotels here for lunch, and did some swimming and kayaking. Definitely add it to your list of “must dos” when you are visiting Khao Lok.
Mark P — Google review
One of the highlights of our stay in the area, definitely worth booking a trip to see Khao Sok and Cheow Lan Lake. Fantastic scenery! It’s easy to book a private longtail boat on GetYourGuide. We had a hire car and drove to the park from Khao Lak.
Joshua I — Google review
Definitely a must-visit when in Thailand! 🇹🇭✅ My husband and I rented a private boat for 3 hours, including a swimming stop for an hour, and we truly enjoyed the trip. The beauty of Mother Nature gave us goosebumps — absolutely breathtaking! 😍✨
Liz A — Google review
Khao Sok National Park is an absolutely stunning place — one of the most beautiful natural spots in Thailand. The scenery is breathtaking, with dramatic limestone cliffs, lush jungle, and a peaceful lake. There are plenty of activities like canoeing, hiking, and boat tours that let you truly enjoy the nature. Everything feels calm and magical. Highly recommended for anyone who loves nature and adventure!
Eliron S — Google review
I would definitely recommend doing a 2 day 1 night tour as you get to see loads of the national parks sights and you get to wake up on the lake which in my case was spectacular. However be prepared for very basic overnight conditions but it made no difference to us.
Ollie B — Google review
A beautiful park, I'd definitely recommend visiting if you're in Khao Sok!! Although everyone speaks about the lake tours as if this is the only activity in Khao Sok, we found this amazing park full of beautiful scenery of many types - a wild jungle, divine waterfalls & stunning rivers. Entrance fee is 200 baht per person, and you can either enter on your own and walk until a limited point (about 6km back & forth) or you can take a guide and walk further. If you do decide to take a guide, make sure to book them in advance. We decided to walk on our own, so we have more privacy, and it took us about 3 hours long, including some stops on the way, and dipping in the amazing Wing Hin waterfall. To conclude, if you're looking for a more unique and custom made experience in Khao Sok, this is definitely a most visit.
Maya I — Google review
While I loved the park and everything about it, I'd like to bring to attention this boatman guy/ guide, and request all to avoid him to have a stress free trip. This guy speaks no English, and if he does, refuses to talk- as a guide, that is one of the major things one should do. He smoked weed/ some narcotic, made us pay for kayaking (which we had already paid for to our tour operator) - since it was only a 100Baht per person, the three of us who had booked the boat privately paid again because this guy refused to communicate. At the caves, he walked on at his own pace, shining the light randomly, and made to exit within 5 minutes. Thankfully we latched onto another group who had an English speaking guide to make sense of the wonders of the cave. We managed to click a whipping scorpion and a cricket with that group- a stark difference. After leaving the cave, he stopped in the middle of the water to light another joint, at which point we thought it a good idea to fly our professional camera drone for some photography. As soon as our drone gained some height, the boatman moved the boat forward, when we shouted at him with sign language to stop the boat. While landing the drone, since the boat had moved, the drone fell into the water, just short distance from where the boatman sat. Had he not been stoned enough, he could have moved his hand and caught the drone. The drone fell into the water, the boatman looked at the drone, looked at us, and shrugged his shoulders as if to say, your problem. The complain I wish to raise, is that this guy was so stoned, that if a human would have fallen off, he would simply have let the person drown, despite wearing a life jacket and knowing how to swim. Since we had to leave to catch our connecting flight from Phuket to Chiang Mai, we didn't have time to officially complain. In case anyone reads this, please ensure to avoid this guide. For your own well being.

very popular place to get dinner.. and more ! a nice row of small desk where is possible to choose a variety of local fish, meat, veggy, fruit and much more. the many staff will cook your order and bring at your table: original, practic, cheap and convivial... what else ? just hope not found the rain (first condition) and try to get there quite soon to have a really nice choice of food.

Restaurant
Lucky Restaurant is a must-visit local gem that offers an extensive menu with nearly two pages of vegetarian options. The Vegetable Panang Curry and Vegetable fried rice were particularly flavorful and fresh, showcasing an abundance of vegetables. The portions are surprisingly generous, especially for the price point. The owner's hospitality and assistance in navigating the menu and arranging transportation added to the overall exceptional dining experience. Additionally, their butterfly pea coconut water drink is highly recommended for its refreshing taste.
A Michelin guide restaurant with local food. We came back twice because the food was so delicious. Really recommend the fried sand whiting fish and butterfly pea coconut juice. The fish curry was also really fresh and flavorful but slightly on the spicy side.

The food is here is amazingly good!! Everything is cooked with a Chinese-style twist, but still packed with flavour. The waiters and the owner were so helpful and welcoming. The restaurant was full when we went - always a good sign! 🤩

Our absolute favourite dinner in Surat Thani, which we discovered on the Michelin guide. So good we went twice. We loved the penang, fish cakes, sweet and sour, chicken cashew nut and the fried garlic pork. All delicious, served hot and very flavoursome. The staff are also friendly and welcoming. 100% recommend.

Southern Thai cuisine, not sure if it’s worth the hype as many places from here all the way to Songkhla are able to cook to a similar level of standard whilst offering a much lower price. Still, if it’s your first time trying southern Thai food, this will be a good place to start.
Albert S — Google review
Old style restaurant with a good mix of meat and seafood dishes and some tofu ones too. We had fried fish with garlic and also their recommended dish, fried prawns, both really good, prawns can be eaten with shell since is very crispy. We also liked pork with basil leaves. There is a car park opposite site of the street .
Bartosz B — Google review
All the dishes are so good and full of flavors! They can made the dishes to be non-spicy (no chilli added) upon request also and the taste is still awesome. As a visitor from Bangkok, I found that this is the best local restaurant in Surat Thani. :)
Chalach ( — Google review
A Southern Thai classic. If you come back from an amazing vacation on one of the beautiful islands you can get a bit melancholic. You miss the beach and the vibe. But one thing is definitely better on the mainland. And that‘s Thai food. Lucky is your place to go. A traditional Thai family run restaurant that serves you all those fantastic spicy dishes from the Deep South. It helps if you speak and read Thai because otherwise you might end up with the touristic menu which can be a bit blended as I heard. So get the Thai menu and use translate. That will do the trick :)

Day & Night of Suratthani

Mentioned on

One of the best places to have dinner in Surat Thani. Great atmosphere but a bit loud. Excellent and diveres food and wines.

Food came in the wrong order, service was terrible and no one spoke English, salmon was completely raw, it took 30 minutes to get water even after multiple requests, and most dishes were mediocre at best. The only thing you should do here is order beer—their beer selection is fantastic.

Milano

Amazing quality! The food is delicious! The burger bun is homemade. The restaurant has a cozy Italian atmosphere. Highly recommended!😋

Decor is not great but the service and the food are very good. Both Italian and Mexican food. The chips and salsa (with real sour cream as well) were the best I've had in Thailand. Don't let the appearance fool you, it's an excellent restaurant.

S.22 Hotel Surat Thani is a modern hotel located just off the ring road in a quiet suburb, surrounded by shops and restaurants. The spacious rooms feature balconies, free Wi-Fi, and large beds with firm mattresses. The hotel offers ample car parking space and a well-maintained garden area. Guests can enjoy breakfast and dinner at the on-site restaurant, which offers various choices for meals.
It is very nice hotel with good location and it is peaceful and very clean. Price is also reasonable. Friday and Saturday always fully reserved. I always book this hotel every time I have to visit Suratthani. There is a restaurant downstairs and deliver to room as well. High recommend for a short visit.
Zierra M — Google review
The room itself was clean. A little cheap and outdated but sufficient. You have to pay 150 bath (5 dollars) for a second pillow. A pillow that should be already in the room. There was also a lot of noise during the night. We looked at the breakfast buffet and the staff panicked and rudely told us to go away. The buffet is 200 bath not even including drinks. I’ve never seen such a price for that of a quality. Overal it was sufficient for the night but I would suggest looking elsewhere where there actually is some hospitality
Jan K — Google review
First time in Surat Thani (downtown) and I picked this hotel randomly. It turned out to be a good decision. The hotel isn’t old and is fairly clean. Staff, housekeeping, and security were all fine. A big plus is the spacious parking area. Location is convenient, with easy access in and out, and there are convenience stores and restaurants nearby on the same street. Breakfast was included. nothing special but decent for the price. The main downside is that the rooms are not well soundproofed. In the morning it was quite noisy with people heading to breakfast, checking out, rolling suitcases, opening doors, even flushing toilets — I could hear everything while still trying to continue sleeping :( I stayed in Building B, Superior Double room. The room itself is spacious, and the bathroom is big too. However, the interior design could use some improvement! There are plenty of power outlets, but their placement isn’t very practical. For example, the desk under TV that isn't convenient for working on laptop — no nearby outlets, and the chair is low while the desk is unusually high 😅. Overall though, for the price, it’s still a solid stay.
Krittika L — Google review
Pros Spacious room Comfortable bed Large bathroom with shower Ample parking space Cons Average breakfast (processed food, cold eggs, sausages, ham, etc.) Poor sound insulation Air conditioning not strong enough for the room size Location not convenient without private transport Room rate feels high for the overall quality No safe in room No smart TV in room
Denis C — Google review
I went there on the same day as the 50+ big-biker groups. The security put up parking for them on the hotel street, making driving difficult, and they refused to assist other cars. At 7 a.m., 50+ big-bikers made a noise, and the staff said they were unable to do anything and let them continue. I couldn't sleep that morning.
Erth P — Google review
I booked this hotel for a couple of days because it’s close to my parents' house. The price is inexpensive. We paid approximately 1,300 baht for a luxury room. However, the design and facilities reflect the budget. For example, the bathroom has no proper counter, the furniture looks cheap, just a small area above the sink for essentials. Unfortunately, the front desk service was disappointing and felt discriminatory. Although I stood in line patiently, the staff ignored me. However, when a man in a suit arrived, they greeted him warmly and allowed him to cut in front of me. The way the front desk girls interacted with me was condescending, as though they were trying to assert superiority. It seemed like they made assumptions based on my appearance, possibly because I am Thai and was with my white husband. Sadly, some people here look down on Thai women with white men, often assuming they are rental wives or prostitutes. What the staff didn’t realize is that I’ve studied abroad and now work in the U.S. as an engineer; far from the stereotype they seemed to apply to me. That said, their English was relatively good compared to other 3-star hotels, though not quite on the level of staff at 5-star hotels. However, their attitude, lack of professionalism, and poor service-mindedness were major drawbacks. On a positive note, the breakfast buffet was excellent, generous with meats and well worth the price. The dining room staff were friendly and provided much better service than the front desk team. Overall, the hotel offers decent value, but management should work on improving the front desk staff’s attitude to ensure all guests are treated equally and respectfully.
Pattara T — Google review
I asked about cancelling, refunding, or changing the date, and they told me to contact Agoda. So I did — but then Agoda replied that the hotel doesn’t agree. So what’s the point? Why did they send me to Agoda in the first place — just to avoid talking to me about this issue?
Michal P — Google review
It was a nightmare. We couldn't sleep because of the noise. I think most hostels are better than this hotel in terms of noise. And at 9 a.m. someone came to our room without saying anything. The hotel doesn’t deserve the money that it gets. And the last thing I booked online from booking.com, but you can get the room lower price if you book when you arrive there.

You'll get what you need. The shops inside weren't so impressive and it's dull. Most people shop outside, behind the market building. A huge wet market, some vegetable shops, coconut milk etc. Both quite messy and smelly. Also more chaotic than usual.

Shop offers simple menu, rahdna (noodle topped with gravy) and phadsiyu (noodle stirfried with soy sauce). There are two choices of noodle you can choose for either dishes, wide rice noodle or yellow egg noodle. I had both dishes, both were excellent, not the best I ever had, but combined with shop's rugged decor, it sure made it unforgettable. The dishes are cooked using charcoal stove, rarely done these days.

There’s something weird about this place that I can’t quite put my finger on. I was the only female patron there. All the other patrons were middle-aged men and the servers were these young women dressed in beautiful dresses that hugged their figures and showed off their bosoms. And people were smoking at the dinner table, so it was wafting my direction. Strange mix, yeah? Why were no other women there? It was a Thursday night...

Customers have praised the friendly owners and the large portions at reasonable prices. The food is described as tasty and served quickly.
Tasty and cosy as always! Big variety of foods to choose from and everything is soooo tasty! Keep in mind, that most meals are quite spicy, you should ask for non- spicy options. Also - they have marijuana honey for sale! :)

I ate one meal at this vegetarian restaurant. I chose 2 curries with rice, for a total of 60b. Food was tasty and served fast. Pre-cooked pans of food, not thoroughly warm, but that's not uncommon with curry-rice style eating. Drinking water and hot tea was free. The tea was quite good - ginger turmeric. I would definitely eat here again. Unfortunately not open for dinner!

Even being not vegan we have enjoyed the place. Everything simply decorated, place is spacious and not on the main road. Portions are big and it's not expensive. We have enjoyed Penang curry, fried rice. And fried mushrooms were great. Finger root drink tastes unusual, but it prevents from Covid illness! :)

Transportation in Surat Thani

Getting around Surat Thani can be a little daunting if you’re new here. We can help list some of the major public transportation methods if you don’t want to rely on a car.

Nearby airports

Nakhon Si Thammarat International Airport

International airport
Nestled in the southern region of Thailand, Nakhon Si Thammarat International Airport serves as a gateway to this charming area. Just a short 35-minute drive from the stunning Banyan Tree Residences Sichon, this small yet modern airport has recently expanded to include three gates, enhancing its capacity for travelers.
One of the cleanest airports in Thailand. There are few restaurants inside. There’s also a bus outside the airport going to the center which only costs 50 Baht.
Jeryl G — Google review
The airport is spacious and clean, - There is a bus to the center (white 9-seat car) or book Grab. - The WiFi does not work, it says it is free but asks for a username and password. Security checks are very careful about water or cream, milk over 150ml will be thrown the bin. But when inside, you can get water again. - Only saw 2 planes parked at the airport and flying to Bangkok (AirAsia and Thai air).
Hang K — Google review
You can buy a ticket at the booth to go to the town or Samui and Phangan. It is less crowded than the surathani airport. Also, there are two mini bus No 7 and No 8. You can take it to the town. You can check the minibus schedule on their booth Nichatal , Facebook, line or phone When you go back the airport from city. You can line to them for checking availability and schedule. Then, you can get on the minibus outside of Robinson store.
Wally — Google review
I give it 3 stars it's a clean and modern airport but the services are lacking. For example, if you need a car rental without a pre-book it can be troublesome. If they have more flight locations maybe the services could improve with more customers but otherwise it's a bit of wasted potential and a bit of a dead airport.
Piko W — Google review
This is a small regional airport. There are only 3 gates, that's compared to only one gate and waiting area 3 years ago. There are no ramps, passengers get on the plane from the runway, which an experience its own. There are not many shops in the terminal, just 3. So if you're planning on shopping, you should do your shopping before arriving to airport. Airport personnel are courteous. There are plans that this airport will be upgraded even more to add international flights. Currently even it's named 'international", there are no direct flights from anywhere outside the Thailand. However, it should be credited that you don't need an adapter for charging your devices, because plugs are generally internationally modified across in all Thailand.
Gabriel F — Google review
Very calm and relaxing airport for each islands access to/from Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao with taxi and bus services running to Donsak Piers of Seatran and Raja ferry services. Same services to Khanom and Sichon beaches and city of Nakhon Si Thammarat in reach to southern Andaman destinations like Krabi, Trang and PakBara Pier. Recommend this airport for lower flight prices and hassle free traveling over Surat Thani, especially in high season. Obviously flights to/from Suvarnabhumi coming in October 2025. Rental car recommendation from me is "Lucky Cars"... Get away from the pack there!
Thomas G — Google review

Samui Airport

International airport
Airport
Samui Airport is a charming island airport with a tropical ambiance, featuring thatched roofs and open-air design. The airport boasts lush gardens and trees, creating a unique and pleasant setting reminiscent of a resort. Visitors can enjoy browsing through lovely shops offering local treats like Kalamare, while also having access to snacks, soft drinks, coffee, and water provided by Bangkok Airways. The service is commendable, making it feel like more than just an airport.
Koh Samui Airport (USM) is renowned for its unique, beautiful open-air, resort-like design, providing a relaxed and stress-free travel experience. The major benefit for flyers is that Bangkok Airways (PG) provides complimentary access to its Boutique Lounge for all economy class passengers. This free lounge access offers a comfortable escape and includes a good selection of free food and beverages, such as light snacks, sandwiches, pastries, dim sum, coffee, and soft drinks. This feature is widely considered a significant and highly valued perk, distinguishing the pre-flight experience at USM.

Unique experience. The airport is built to make passengers feel relaxed and comfortable (maybe except for the tiloilet facilities) - it gives you a resort-like feeling. It also has hundreds of shops with souvenirs, clothes, coffee shops, restaurants and offers complimentary drinks and snacks on at least some of the gates. Well done, Koh Samoi!!

I’ve never seen such a uniquely beautiful airport! It’s an open-air airport with stunning views and park-like areas to relax in. There are plenty of restaurants and shops to explore as well. The only downside is that it can get quite hot during the summer.

I mean for an island airport it’s pretty decent and fluid. A little delay here and there but nothing bad. was surprised by the easy flow of arriving and departing. The court yard areas outside and hang out areas are so cool for an airport. Really island life ! enough cool places and snacks and coffee shops to hold you over until your flight. Also all domestic so you do not have to be as worried about the pressure of arriving insanely early. an hour is more than enough.

One of the most beautiful airports I have visited. What shocked me (in a good way) the most, was the complementary food for everyone in the departure area. You would not ever see this in any European or American airports. Amazing customer service

One of the cutest and most eco-friendly airports I have used. It looks like a botanical garden and the staff is fabulous too especially the way they treated and helped my wife when she was stung by a bee. Would love to use it again.

A perfect airport for a perfect island. Almost everything is outside and there are plenty of places to just sit and chill here. It’s very small so you do not need 2 hours here - 1 hour is more than enough to get in, get situated and be able to grab a quick bite before boarding.

Surat Thani International Airport

International airport
Surat Thani International Airport is a great little airport that makes travel surprisingly easy. It’s small but very well organized, which means check-in, security, and baggage claim are all quick and stress-free compared to larger airports. For us, everything ran smoothly, and the staff were polite and helpful throughout the process. There are a few small shops and snack options, as well as places to grab a drink, so you can easily pick up something before your flight. While it doesn’t have the wide range of facilities of a big international hub, it has everything you need for a comfortable journey. Tips for visitors: If you’re connecting to the islands, check ahead for combined bus-and-ferry tickets from the airport — it makes the transfer seamless. The airport is compact, so you don’t need to arrive extremely early, but giving yourself a bit of extra time never hurts. Overall, Surat Thani International Airport is convenient, straightforward, and reliable — the kind of place that gets you where you’re going without unnecessary hassle.

A small airport with basic amenities, including a few shops, small dining options, and charging stations for electronic devices. However, facilities are not as extensive as those at larger airports, particularly when it comes to airport lounges, which would add to the comfort for passengers. The airport’s operations are well-managed and efficient. The areas inside are well-maintained, with clean restrooms, and the seating area for boarding, with its four gates, is especially comfortable with strong air conditioning. However, since the airport is located around 20-30 kilometers from the city, public transport options to the city or nearby piers are limited. Passengers may find it more convenient to use a taxi, Grab, or rental car rather than relying on general public transportation.

Not the greatest small airport, but they do have several little cafes, coffee shops, snack shops, and plenty of bathrooms. There are stands available outside of baggage claim when you arrive to schedule taxis or buses/ferries to the islands from here. It takes over an hour on the bus to get to the pier for the ferry. I would definitely recommend scheduling your transfers in advance, especially during high season when buses and ferries can get over booked.

It deserves it’s international status, the staff is friendly and understand English quite fairly. My Lion Air flight to Bangkok was an hour late though but nevertheless I kept myself busy walking around the stores in this fairly small airport
Lesego M — Google review
Not big and easy access with very clean. Not much restaurants for the waiting area. The new building is open but no cafeteria. Bus and car rental are in new building.

Surat Thani International Airport (URT), located about 21 kilometers west of Surat Thani city in southern Thailand, serves as a key gateway to the Gulf islands, including Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, and Koh Tao. Primarily handling domestic flights—especially to Bangkok—it also accommodates some seasonal international services. The airport features a single terminal with basic facilities like restaurants, souvenir shops, ATMs, and limited Wi-Fi access, but lacks left-luggage services. Ground transportation includes buses and taxis to Surat Thani city, with fares ranging from 140 to 700 baht. It operates daily and is managed by Thailand’s Department of Airports. The best is car rental from airport

Compact size. Not too big, not too little. But clean and few restaurants available inside the terminal.
PAM N — Google review
It's a clean, cozy airport. It's small, but I think that it has most basic things you need.
