Island
Gozo, also known as Ghawdex Awdesch by locals, is a laid-back Mediterranean island that is part of the Maltese archipelago. It is the second largest of the three islands and is just a short ferry ride away from mainland Malta. The island features a diverse landscape with flat-topped hills, rugged cliffs, deep valleys, and beautiful inlets. Gozo embraces rural characteristics and is ideal for fishing and agricultural activities.
Spent a couple of hours visiting whilst on a boat trip from Malta. Gorgeous island with so much history. Definitely worth a visit!

By boat it’s a nice break from the crowds but still a little too crowded. If you’re looking for secluded coves probably need to leave Malta and head to Greece. Be careful in water as day trippers can rent boats.

Visited during a boat tour. Didn't see so much apart from the Azure Window. Great landscape and views!
Vasileia V — Google review
Is a boat trip and must go. The scene and water are so nice and clean. Sometimes unable to go out if the weather is bad because the waves are too strong.

The One of the most beautiful place in malta! It's a part of malta. So quiet area. Mostly Malta's farming located in gozo. Landscapes are so nice.
Abhi K — Google review
I love Gozo, easy to get too. A pleasant thirty minute ferry ride with a car or take the high speed ferry from Valetta. Lots to do and many great swimming spot.
Greg P — Google review
Super place to visit. No need for specialist excursions, just use Malta Public Buses and the fast ferries for a fraction of the cost. Gozo has a beautiful Citadel and some great photo opportunities.
Bill B — Google review
Definitely a must visit whilst in Malta, the main city of Victoria was beautiful and the citadel was crazy amazing. Awesome views and the top. A bit of a walk up a hill and the elevator unfortunately wasn't working when we were there so others weren't able to visit which was unfortunate.

Ta’ Kola Windmill, located near the Ggantija Temples, is a well-preserved traditional windmill dating back to the 1700s. Once used for grinding grain into flour, it now serves as a museum showcasing the miller's workshop and living quarters. Visitors can explore recreated furniture and gain insight into past village lifestyles. The windmill offers a glimpse into Malta's history and culture, making it a must-see attraction for those interested in the island's heritage.
Such a cool place to visit. Definitely worth a visit and free entry with your ticket from the ruins.
Luke L — Google review
Visited because it was included with the Ġgantija Archaeological Park ticket, so I mean why not. A cute windmill to visit, kind workers, clean bathroom, organized and clean site. Tight at the top with others but a great conversation starter for sure 😆. Overall pretty good
Millie M — Google review
If you’ve never been inside a windmill before, this is definitely worth a visit. It’s a unique experience where you can also read a lot about Malta’s history and how important bread was in daily life.
Рахилка С — Google review
"Gozo is an amazing place where history and nature meet in harmony. The Xaghra Church impresses with its magnificent architecture, while the Ta' Kola Windmill, built in 1725, offers stunning views and a historical atmosphere. A must-visit to feel the spirit of this unique island!"
Vitalii K — Google review
Entry to the museum is €10 on a combined ticket with the nearby Ggantija Archeological park (the latter makes is worthwhile) or €13 as part of a combined ticket that includes 5 Citadella museums in Victoria (Citadella visitor centre), museum of archaeology, old prison, Gran Castillo historic house, and nature museum) as well as the Ggantija Archeological park and Ta Kola windmill. The windmill makes for an enjoyable 15 minute visit, but I wouldn't trek out to Ggantija just to see it. It is also wholly unsuitable for people who cannot handle lots of twisting stairs (you can see it from the outside though). The windmill is prettier on the outside than the inside, so you may not wish to actually pay for entry of you don't have a ticket for the nearby Archeological park.
Tom H — Google review
We only visited because entry was included in the Ggantija ticket, but I'm very glad we did. A beautiful old windmill that a local man kept working until he died in the 1980s. He was a blacksmith too, and seemed to have made all his own tools. It was great to be able to walk to the very top and see the shaft and gears close up, and marvel at the construction from around 270 years ago. If you're visiting Ggantija it's well worth the 2-minute walk to visit.
Richard L — Google review
We bought the combo ticket which included entry to the temples. There was no waiting time, the staff were friendly, and the windmill was quaint and well-preserved.

This is a very interesting museum, situated just a five-minute walk from the Ġgantija Temples.

Ninu's Cave is a natural underground wonder located in the northeastern part of Gozo, near Victoria. It is famous for its stunning stalagmites and stalactites formed by rainwater filtration through limestone over thousands of years. The cave is situated near other attractions like Xerris Grotto and Calypso's Cave, which overlooks Ramla Beach. Visitors can easily reach Ninu's Cave from the Gozo Ferry Terminal via bus route 307 from Victoria.
Not impressive as a cave if you've been in one before, but impressive because of it's placement and history. We thought it was a scam when we saw the sign on a door in a building not far from the town square. Luckily we were spotted before we could turn around and leave, so we ended up having a lovely experience. We were shown down in the basement by the wife of the man whose great grandfather discovered the cave while digging for a well and then left it for people to enjoy. It had a certain magical atmosphere to step into a cave with stalagmites and stalactites below an apartment building. And the lady was a gem of information about culture and Gozo heritage. There's only room for a few people down there at a time and you only stay at the entrance of the cave, but you shouldn't miss out if you're in Xaghra. It's only a short walk from the Ggantija temple. You pay by donation so bring cash. They deserve it for sharing this experience with the public 😊
Michelle A — Google review
Nice ancient cave discovered by the owner of the house when he was digging and searching for water. Now his granddaughter is taking care of his legacy. Cheap access, only four euros per person, and if you like archeology you must visit this sight.
Rafa H — Google review
Not quite what I expected but still nice once you're in there. You have to go down a small passageway, ring a doorbell and a little old lady will let you in. It's just a room beneath a house where there's only enough room for about 4/5 people to stand.
Sean M — Google review
This is a free visit cave. Thanks to the lady, who gave me all details on how this cave was founded by her grandfather 130 years ago. This is a naturally found & well preserved cave. Only this disappointed me was, it's a very small cave of maybe 5000sqmeter approx. Also there are very limited public transits in that area.
Praveen K — Google review
I really couldn’t believe it. It is in a sweet lady’s house. She is amazing and has a lot go tell about the cave. The entrance fee is a donation of your choice to charity. Amazing and spontaneous interaction
Jens — Google review
Lovely cave in the basement of someone’s home!! When I arrived there was no one there but a bell to ring, and a lady came from next door and gave a me a tour and the history of her family. 2€ donation but totally worth it.
Alaina R — Google review
A beautiful cave located under a family house. The guide has a beautiful story about how the cave was found by her great grandfather. The cave is also free which was nice. As a whole experience it was very nice and personal. Really recommend to go if you are around this area.
Tia N — Google review
Totally mind blowing that Guzepp Rapa discovered this in 1888 when digging for a water well to build his house. Fantastic that his grand-daughter (an elderly lady) is still showing people round and sharing her family story.

Country Terrace is a restaurant located in Gozo, Mgarr, and it serves Mediterranean food. It has outdoor seating and parking available. The restaurant accepts American Express, Mastercard, and Visa. There is also a full bar available.
We got a super nice sea view as requested at our reservation. The food was great, the staff very friendly. I told them I want a mixed salad as I eat only fruits and vegetables, and they turned out to be really creative! They also gave us a super good appetizer. The salmon and ravioli we also ordered were top! The place is chilling and cool to spend time in 😎 We can recommend 😉
Maciej K — Google review
We have been through quite some restaurants in both Malta and Gozo, but we have to say this one beats them all. The quality and efficiency of the service is superb, the waiters were so welcoming and helpful, and their service was really great. The food was super divine, very good quality servings including taste and presentation. The ambience has magnificent views, the live romantic music added a touch of magic and overall it was a memorable night. Definitely a huge recommendation for those visiting the first time, and surely for us this wont be the last. We will come here again to fine for sure. Feedback from two very demanding but extremely happy customers. Keep up the good service and the value for money. Well done!

This lovely restaurant overlooking the bay is a must! A little above the average prices but it's a great quality place with awesome food and fantastic staff. The day we went Malta's 2024 Eurovision representative was singing. Four starters, there was some complimentary nibbles first, four mains, two desserts, several glasses of wine and beers, all amazing. I had the trio of sausages starter, amazing and the lamb shank, very very good, but quite a lot of meat be warned! Reservations are essential!
Joelyon T — Google review
I had a fantastic experience at Country Terrace Restaurant! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with stunning views that make the setting even more special. I ordered the ribeye steak, and it was cooked to perfection — tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The restaurant also has an impressive selection of wines, making it easy to find the perfect pairing for the meal. The service was attentive and friendly throughout, adding to an already memorable dining experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for great food, excellent wine, and a relaxing atmosphere.
Raj D — Google review
Our first meal on Gozo was a bit of a mixed experience. The main waiter (maybe owner) was absolutely lovely — attentive, warm, and professional — but some of the other staff seemed a little less confident, which led to a few small mix-ups with service and timing. The food itself was okay; some of our group enjoyed their dishes, while others found theirs just average. Nothing bad, just not particularly memorable. That said, the atmosphere was lovely and the restaurant itself has a great feel — perhaps we just caught it on an off night.
Ana W — Google review
Just Wow! This is one of the most lovely restaurants we’ve been to in a while. The setting is gorgeous overlooking Mgarr bay. The staff are amazing and very attentive. The food was outstanding- we had Octopus and Scallop pasta as a starter to share (what we loved was that they actually brought us 2 small dishes each) rather than us just sharing the one. We also had complimentary bruschetta mozzarella on the side. Main course was also fantastic (Duck with potatoes veg and Madeira sauce) and a prawn bisque Risotto. Wine and other drinks were reasonably priced too. Absolutely 1st class meal and we will definitely return if in Gozo again. Thank you!
Nigel H — Google review
I spent a pleasant evening with my family. The waiters were very kind and helpful. The food was good on the whole, however my chicken was a bit too dry for the price I had to pay for it. And there we were a group of 10 and we had to wait around a hour for the food. There were a lot of us, but on the flip side, one hour is quite a lot.
Emilia L — Google review
What a lovely place. Random person in town recommended and I'm glad we have decided to go there. Highly quality food and service in their best. Mussels as a starter and scallops filled ravioli were to die for. We were table of 12 but that didn't make any difference in waiting time. Food showed up super quick. Baked Alaska was just gorgeous.

Nestled in the charming backstreets of Victoria, Maldonado Bistro Gozo is a delightful culinary gem that invites you to experience its warm and intimate ambiance. Set slightly below street level within beautifully arched limestone cellars, this bistro pays homage to a generous 17th-century Governor of Gozo. It has become a favorite among locals for its exquisite Mediterranean dishes crafted from fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
Absolutely delicious!! We were recommended to go here by a local and we can confirm! Maldonado has a very inventive seasonal menu. We started with the watermelon in a beautiful sauce with friend chicken skins (sounds strange but just *works*) and seasonal beans and asparagus. Our mains were the pork loin and rabbit and black garlic pasta - both were incredible. The table bread and sauces were also delicious. Happy with the local wine recommendation as well!
Aaron E — Google review
Great dinner at Maldonado! The food was great and a good choice on the menu. The portions were also fantastic! The service was also good expect our server was trying to push us to buy a bottle of wine rather than two glasses, he tried to say it would be better value but at 14€ more we did not want a full bottle of wine for the two of us. I understand he was trying to offer but it made us feel uncomfortable for not wanting to drink that much.
Catherine H — Google review
Exceptional restaurant. Top-noch location, service and food. The meal starts with complimentary serving of olive bread and focaccia with tapenade and salty butter. I was particularly impressed by their agnolotti filled with rabbit and black garlic but menu is rich (but not packed) of interesting dishes. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, perfect for a dinner date. Prices are fair: 30-40 Euros pp for a pasta + shared main or appetizer, wine and water.
Claudio C — Google review
Probably the best dinner place in Gozo island. I ate there two days in a row. Food is very delicious, combination of French and Italian cooking, sophisticated, well considered but hearty too. Great portion. Staff were smiley and friendly. Vibes are warm and cosy, I even read my book for a bit while enjoying the wine.

We stumbled upon this restaurant by chance and decided to visit the very next day. Despite not having a reservation, we were warmly welcomed and given a lovely table. The restaurant has a charming atmosphere, beautifully decorated with great artwork, creating a pleasant and inviting ambiance. The service was exceptional — the waitstaff were friendly, cheerful, and genuinely motivated, creating a relaxed and enjoyable vibe. It's a young, dynamic, and very courteous team. The food was absolutely fantastic, with generous portions that left us completely satisfied. We had a wonderful evening and can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great dining experience.

Well we happened upon this place by accident and what a happy accident it was. Everything was perfect. The food, the service, the setting all 10/10 could not fault it. We left stuffed and happy. Great to find a place that does not serve the regular stuff that you can get anywhere. Beautiful cellar the staff were attentive but never intrusive every course was perfectly balanced and well portioned. A great evening.

This is a lovely restaurant. The food was the best we’ve had in Gozo. The pasta was spicy and tasty, the pork chop was succulent and juicy, the sauce was amazing. The service is attentive without being intrusive. Great place
Ellen G — Google review
What can I say? Perfect! We looked this restaurant out as it offered one vegetarian option that wasn't pizza or pasta. It's in a bit of a back street but n Victoria, but look it up, it's worth it. The decor is finished to a high standard, whilst retaining the rustic charm of the traditional building. The staff were very friendly and attentive from the first to thd last minute. Complimentary bread to start with garlic butter and a bean and garlic paste. Wine and cocktails were great! Four starters, I can recommend the Turkish beef dumplings, but I understand the burnt onion vegetarian starter was amazing, don't be out off by the name, as was the white bait fish cake. Mains... Okay, the pastas, one mussel linguine apparently amazing and one rabbit and black garlic tortellini, which I understand was also amazing. The aubergine which is what we came for, was fantastic and a welcome change from the usual pizza and pasta options. I had the pork. The pork chop as you'll see it called on the bill. This was like a pork version of a tomahawk steak and was amazing, paired with roast potatoes and salad, it also had leeks and crushed nuts with it and served with a stout and carob syrup. Incredible. We also had a couple of desserts and a couple of coffees. If you're on Gozo this should be on your list of places to eat.

Qbajjar Restaurant in Gozo is a popular dining spot offering a variety of cuisines. Located in the vibrant Xaghra village square, it provides a glimpse into the local culinary traditions. The restaurant is known for its local lamb dishes and also offers options like whiskey and cigars. With its Mediterranean and European grill offerings, Qbajjar Restaurant is one of the best places to eat in Gozo.
A great restaurant with a wide range of choice whilst still keeping a great quality. The restaurant is very airy (if you are seated in the main restaurant or outside). A great view of the bay. The food includes a wide choice of freshly caught fish (including specials), a wide choice of Pizzas and a good choice of meat dishes. The service is excellent and with a large group they work hard to get the food out at the same time. I definitely recommend them…

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I recently dined at Qbajjar Restaurant in Marsalforn, Gozo, and it was a fantastic experience! The seafood was incredibly fresh and expertly prepared, with the local flavors shining through. The staff was friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home. The views of the bay added to the charm of the evening. I highly recommend the grilled octopus and the homemade desserts! Can't wait to return!
Gebrehiwot T — Google review
We visited this place together with a local who said this place has the best price vs food quality performance on Gozo. I don't know if it is so, but I trust our friend. So I took fish soup, it was tasty, it had fish and rice as main filling plus some other things, a solid 7.5/10 As a starte we also took Mussels and they were really good, nice garlic and vine 9/10. All table took Spaghetti Pescatore as it was suggested to us by our friend and I have to say it was great (I'm not a huge fan of pastas, but this I could eat more) it had rich seafood topping and everything was well made and tasty 9.5/10 And as a dessert I took an apple pie andb my other half took Fondant. Both were ok, well made and balanced with ice-cream. 8/10 What this place lacks is a bit better service. We asked for desserts menu 3 times (to 3 different waiters) until it was finally brought. This place has a nice terrace with view of sea. All in all, I think I would visit this place again if I'm somewhere nearby.
Gundars M — Google review
Amazing food, very fresh and delicious. The staff was really helpful and friendly. Highly recommended 😊
Dorota S — Google review
The restaurant is located right by the sea, offering a beautiful view from both the terrace and the outside area. The staff is friendly, and the dishes are served quickly. There’s a wide selection of wines, as well as craft beers. When it comes to the menu, I believe everyone can find something they like. The prices are similar to those in Rabat on Gozo and on Malta itself. The only downside is that when it’s full inside, it gets quite noisy and it can be hard to have a conversation.
G G — Google review
This restaurant is near the guest house where we stayed. We went just for convenience but we ended up eating here every day because the food was good. It’s also good value for money as the portions are big. You’d better go there hungry.
J G — Google review
We visited Qbajjar in Gozo without a reservation and were seated outside, where we could enjoy the warmth and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. I ordered the mussels cooked in white wine and despite the sauce being on the salty side, the mussels themselves were absolutely fantastic. So fresh, meaty, and perfectly cooked, hands down the best mussels I had during my entire trip to Malta. Although it was listed as a starter, the portion was incredibly generous and could’ve easily passed for a main. The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout, and we had no trouble finding a parking space in their car park, which made the whole experience smooth and stress-free. I’d definitely return if I’m ever back in Gozo, just maybe with a side of bread to soak up that salty (but tasty!) sauce. The deserts were nicely presented, and quite delicious.

Tal-Furnar Restaurant is a popular dining spot in Xaghra, known for its delicious meals and inviting atmosphere. Visitors have raved about the pulled pork and tasty pastizzi served at this establishment. The restaurant offers a sterling dining service with a menu featuring American, bar, and seafood dishes. Situated close to the ruins of Ggantija temples, it has garnered positive reviews from patrons who appreciate its culinary offerings.
Absolutely delicious food. The staff are amazing and it is a lovely family run business with lots of history (which you can read about on the menu). Me and my family came here twice over our holiday and it was by far our favourite place to eat. I had the Sesame Crusted Salmon with honey and lemon and it was incredible. My family had the local lamb and they all awed at how delicate it was. The flavours were beautiful. I would definitely recommend eating here. You even get lovely complimentary bread. x

The food and the service is a highlight of this place. Food is delicious and the waiters are excellent. Very kind. The owner was also present helping around and making sure we were ok. It takes a bit of time to receive mains after starters but we didn’t mind at all since we were occupied talking. The only small inconvenience is that the restaurant is located near the road that is little busy. All in all REALLY POSITIVE EXPERIENCE! Worth it!😋

Absolutely amazing. As a Maltese i don't really look to eat traditional Maltese food but as soon as i saw the menu i wanted to order everything. I ended up taking the rabbit ravioli and the horse meat and i was amazed the food was spectacular not even from my grandma did i ever taste such delicious traditional Maltese food. If you are in gozo its a must to go there and try it for yourself. Staff are super helpful and friendly and happy to help you. I also got a chance to meet the owner and he is super humble and goes out of the way to give you the best experience whilst dining. I only managed to take a picture of what my fiance ate (suckling pork) as I had already started eating (it was too tempting 😂) Very well done to all the staff and to the owner you have an amazing restaurant and i will be back every time im in gozo

Casa Vostra is a new restaurant located in the heart of Rabat, offering an innovative menu with top-notch burgers, fresh pasta, and standout pizzas. The gourmet pizza selection features unique flavor combinations that are sure to impress. In addition to their renowned pizzas, Casa Vostra also serves delicious starters, pasta dishes, and desserts. This gem in Victoria is a haven for Italian food lovers and a must-visit when heading to Gozo.
Absolutely fantastic. The pizzas are cooked to perfection, the bases so flavoursome and the combination of toppings like nowhere else we’ve been. The pasta dishes are divine. Everything is fairly priced for the quality and the staff are very welcoming. We have eaten there two nights running now and can’t wait to return tonight. Their tiramisu is off the charts. My husband hates it normally and loved theirs! Oh and they can do smaller portions for children too - it doesn’t say on the menu but just ask. They are so helpful. Lovely vibe in there too. And open great hours.

Best pizza and ragu pasta I have had, amazing for the prices they have, especially compared to other restaurants. I stayed in Gozo for 2 days and only eaten here. The waiters are amazing and kind enough to get us a table even when we didn't have a reservation. Short, but great menu, ask the waiters for desserts.
Ale P — Google review
Food was great. We have eaten a lot of pizzas but this one was the best! Pizza dough and crust are amazing. Caramella is very interesting pizza with tuna chunks and light caramelised onion and great buratta cheese. The combination is great and pizza is very light so you won't feel heavy after a meal. Pork Fiction is also very interesting pizza, not only because it doesn't have any tomato sauce which is replaced by homemade bell pepper cream. The combination of bell pepper cream, Porchetta and spicy mango is a winning combo. We truly recommend Casa Vostra to everyone. Stuff was lovely and kind. We came without reservation but they still managed to find a table for us. But we recommend to make a reservation.

One of the best Pizzas I've had in my life, without a doubt. We had the Pzza Caramella, and the Potato Terrine, both of which were outstanding. The same goes for the service - attentive, professional, well coordinated. This place is a gem! Come here, you won't regret it!

Casa Vostra was a great pizza stop on Gozo Island- food was fantastic and the outdoor seating had a nice vibe. Unfortunately, the service was quite slow. We waited about 10 minutes before being greeted, and our pizza arrived nearly 25 minutes after the appetizer, even though other tables who arrived later were served, ate and paid before our 1 pizza came out. The food was definitely worth it, but with limited time on the island, spending over an hour for a simple meal wasn’t ideal.
T R — Google review
The best pizza I’ve ever had in my life! It was so delicious that we came back three days in a row, and every single pizza was absolutely perfect. The service was excellent, with very kind and attentive waiters who made the experience even better. Truly unforgettable – a place I’ll always recommend!

Amazing. One of the best places to eat not only in Gozo but in Malta as well. What we had ordered was truly fantastic. The environment was great too. About prices, pizzas starts in 12 euros. The beer was great as well.

Hands down the best pizza you’ll find in Malta! If you’re a pizza lover like me, don’t miss this 🍕 their pizza menu is very creative and even though I usually love a simple margharita, I’m glad I tried those unique combinations of flavors. Their homemade lemonade and tiramisu are also top notch. The atmosphere is very cozy and warm. Great experience overall. ☺️ It’s usually very busy, so definitely make a reservation beforehand.
