Amusement park
Water & Amusement Parks
Theme park
Hirakata Park, also known as Hira-par, is a historic amusement park located in Hirakata City, Japan. With a legacy of 110 years, it is the oldest operating amusement park in the country. The park offers a wide range of attractions suitable for both children and adults, including the popular "Red Falcon" roller coaster which spans approximately 1,300 meters and reaches speeds of up to 70 km per hour.
The theme park was very open and quiet. I think we were the only non-Japanese visitors there at the time. It was located in a very peaceful neighborhood, so it felt like one of the most local experiences we had. The entrance price wasn’t too expensive, around $13 or so. One thing that surprised me was that you have to buy tickets per ride. I didn’t mind because it made you think about which rides you really wanted to go on. We rode the Red Falcon, a red roller coaster, and the Ferris wheel. The Ferris wheel stopped at the top for a while and did multiple rounds, which I really enjoyed. I loved the serenity and peacefulness of the park. It was pretty big for a smaller theme park. The kids had fun, and after we finished, we were able to find a nice diner nearby, which was really convenient. Overall, it was probably one of my most memorable experiences in Osaka.

We were there from 10.30am-4pm and still didn’t manage to ride everything haha. Nice local amusement park suitable for all ages. Hardly any queue for rides. You can check beforehand what your children can and cannot take based on age/height restrictions. Rest assured even our 3yo toddler have a variety of rides he could take. Note that some parts of the park are quite hilly. Walking around is going to be quite a workout. Overall, the park is a great alternative for families with young children who are not able to enjoy USJ yet.
FS L — Google review
If your kid is higher than 110cm, most of the ride can be played. We go in the weekday. Not many people. Need not line up for most of the rides. Good for young kids who do not want to spend lots of time to wait (adults too 🤣) Strongly recommend to buy the all you can play ticket. Some games/rides are not worth to pay a few hundred yen to play.
Patrick C — Google review
Very fun park, not very touristy or busy, fun rollercoasters (most of them close when it rains though!). Choose this over the Universal theme park if you want to do many attractions instead of waiting in lines all day!
Jonas R — Google review
The park requires a paid entrance ticket, but this does not include any rides. Each ride has a separate fee. There are about 30 attractions. You can buy a Free Pass for the whole day (around ¥3,400), but I recommend checking first which rides interest you and whether the pass is worth it. The park is only open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, which is not a lot of time considering some ride wait times can be an hour or more. There is also a water area that costs extra (around ¥4,000). The website stated it was closed in September, but it turned out to be open, so make sure to double-check. It seems to be more like a pool area (I didn’t try it myself). We found a drinking fountain in the area, but the water was lukewarm, probably due to the heat. The park is quite old, so many of the rides look outdated compared to modern theme parks. Also, the Ferris wheel was not working during our visit. For people with disabilities: the website offers a discounted ticket, but inside the park there is no priority access or shortened line option. We asked at the information desk, and they confirmed there is no system like that. Ride tickets can be purchased individually at machines located around the park, with prices listed on the map. You can also buy the all-day Free Pass at the information counter

Nice local theme park. Almost no que during weekdays. I came with my 8 year old son. We arrived around 2 pm and managed to ride around 7-8 attractions (mostly roller coasters) before the park closed.
Denny R — Google review
We visited on a weekday, and it was absolutely wonderful. We bought the tickets that cover most of the attractions, so we didn’t have to pay extra anywhere. There were no long lines for any ride, and the variety was great – from roller coasters to water slides to a park designed like Ninja Warrior. The food was reasonably priced (for example, 500 yen for fries), and the staff were all very friendly and entertaining. Despite our limited Japanese skills, communication was easy. I hope the park attracts even more visitors in the future. The only downside was the wooden roller coaster – it definitely has headache potential!
Victoria H — Google review
A pretty decent theme park, went here in summer and late autumn. Decent amount of people to feel the joy, but not too much to feel like you can't enjoy rides. Rides are good if you're not too into rollercoaster. Clean toilets, have enough to not have to run everywhere to find one. Decent amount of garbage can to keeps your hands free but not affect the view.

Very nice and large tsutaya. Saw this place on instagram and looked larger in the photo. It was an underwhelming experience and connected to a mall so it’s actually smaller than it looks. Stationery and book section is small. The main feature is a tall bookcase with a staircase.

Hirakata T-Site opened several years ago and it is a massive hit with the locals. Complete with coffee ☕️, sweets 🍭, books 📚, clothes, and makeup 💄 shops, it has a lot going for it in one location. It also has the benefit of having a new GU store (whatever that is), as well as a Life supermarket on the basement floor. 🍅🥦🍒🥭🍞

Hirakata-Koen Station is a stop for express and semi-express trains, located between the east and west sides of the Kyoto Highway. It's the closest station to Hirakata Park, with buses also available from Hirakatashi Station. Exiting from the west ticket gate leads to Nishimitsuke of Hirakata-juku, a historical road perfect for sightseeing.
I used to take this station (which was close to where my host family lived) every day when I was studying abroad at Kansai Gaidai University. Nothing spectacular, but serves its role well.

(Translated by Google) Since the public bicycle parking lot is only on the east side, anyone coming from the west side must cross the railroad tracks. If you get stuck at the crossing, you'll have to wait nearly 10 minutes and miss one or two trains. Incidentally, the tracks are just parked, and not many trains actually pass by. Trains pass slowly, and while that train is passing, another slow train comes from the other side, creating a loop. As a result, it's actually faster to go to Hirakata Station than to go to Hirakata Park from the west side, which is a bit of a confusing situation. There is a private bicycle parking lot on the west side, but it costs twice as much as the public one, and since it's open-air, it's exposed to direct sunlight and rain. Parking your bike there shortens its lifespan, so rainy days are out of the question, and you don't want to park it in the summer. The roads around the station are also bumpy, so I wish the local government would do a better job of improving the area overall.

The well-maintained promenade is comfortable to stroll around even while pushing a stroller. The course that goes around the pond is moderately undulating, making it ideal for walking and jogging. Waterfowl such as swans and ducks swim gracefully in the pond, and you can feel the breath of nature. The cherry blossom trees are particularly impressive in spring, and you can see many families enjoying picnics under the cherry blossoms in full bloom. In summer, the shade is cool, and it is recommended to enjoy reading a book in the sunlight filtering through the trees. In autumn, the autumn leaves are beautiful, and the scenery of the autumn leaves reflected in the pond is breathtaking. In winter, you can feel the dignified air in the silence and spend a relaxing time. There are plenty of toilets and benches around the east entrance, so you can use it with peace of mind even if you have small children. The entire park is kept clean and has an excellent sense of cleanliness. It can be said to be a healing space that will help you forget the hustle and bustle of the city. Specialty Museums
The municipal Hirakata Shukuya Museum is often mistaken for the key museum, but it is definitely worth a visit. For those interested in history, this place offers valuable insights. In particular, if you enjoy reading period novels, you will come across references to the "food vendor" on the Yodo River's 30 kokubune boats. This location holds historical significance as it served as a half-day journey from Osaka to Fushimi for figures such as Sakamoto Ryoma.
It was very informative. If you are a history enthusiast, this place is for you.

(Translated by Google) This is a facility that has been beautifully renovated from an Edo period inn and turned into a museum. You will get more experience than the 200 yen admission fee. The contents of the museum exhibits and the titles were both easy to understand and intelligent. It's a history museum where there are many reproductions of exhibits, so it can't be helped. When I visited Hirakata-juku itself, which includes this facility, for the first time in a while, I was surprised in a good way to see how well-maintained it was. To be honest, it felt like a newly created tourist destination, but it felt like it was built with great care, and I had a good impression of it. However, I was concerned about the video equipment in the museum. I think it would be a good idea to redo the video on the second floor, including the playback equipment and content, even if the city allocates a little more money. The cheapness of this part made the experience disillusioning, even though the facility had been renovated. I also thought that the level of understanding and satisfaction when browsing would be higher if it was placed near the entrance and displayed as a guidance. However, even as it is now, it is still a good facility that I would recommend to my acquaintances. Today, customers were able to indulge in this treat along with other delicious dishes such as char siu noodles and iron plate fried rice sets.
Along the steady pulse of Route 1, beneath the soft glow of red lanterns in the night, Ramen Yokozuna Hirakata quietly waits. Open 24 hours, it’s not just a place to eat—it’s a place to breathe. A shelter for the hearts that wander, for the workers whose shifts end with the sunrise, for the souls who just need a moment of warmth. Inside, the hum of steam, the clatter of bowls, and the scent of rich tonkotsu broth feel like an embrace. You don’t need to speak much here. Just slide your ticket into the counter, take your seat, and let the ritual begin. Then it arrives—a bowl of Negi Miso Ramen, its creamy miso broth glistening beneath a soft mountain of green onions. The heat of the soup, the gentle chew of the noodles, and that quiet moment when the world slows down—suddenly, you're not just eating. You're being held. Want it richer? Softer? Spicier? Here, your preferences are honored like a conversation between chef and guest. And the free green onions, always there at your side, remind you that little joys make a meal memorable. At lunchtime, set meals pair your ramen with a comforting bowl of char siu rice or softly glistening tamago gohan. It's simple. Humble. And yet it feels like it was made just for you. Ramen Yokozuna Hirakata doesn’t try to impress. It just stays—quietly, consistently—offering a seat, a bowl, and a pause from the noise of life. It’s the kind of place that feels like it’s been waiting just for you. And when you leave, heart and stomach full, you’ll find yourself already thinking about the next time.

Very surprised to see a ramen restaurant running so well so late. We went there at 2am.

The only thing I can compliment this place on is the soup which is a tonkotsu shoyu based soup. However that is all I can say. The chashuu was the most thinly cut and dry meat I have ever had in Japan. The texture of the noodels was akin to a wet sponge. I cannot recommend this place. The only thing keeping it from 1 star status is the soup.

This is a popular ramen shop. It has the basics in ramen. Try the cold noodle dishes. If you like spicy, the Tantanmen is nice, hot or cold. There is plenty of parking, too.

(Translated by Google) 📍Ramen Yokozuna/Osaka Hirakata ✔︎Aya Ramen (average)💰890 yen ✔︎Black pork gyoza💰250 yen My favorite ramen shop since I was little. I really like this pork bone soy sauce soup. A chain store mainly operating in Kansai. It seems that the Kanto region is only found in Chiba. I usually eat this every time I go home. This time it's ramen with all the toppings. The key is to put the green onions on top! ! Thinly slice the chashu. Menma is sweet. The soup is smooth and rich with a soy sauce aftertaste. It's so delicious. Domestic green onions and freshly grated garlic You can add as much garlic chili pepper as you like. I like to change the flavor with garlic and chili peppers halfway through. The gyoza are small and the thin filling is loose. I also like the lively atmosphere of the shop, which resembles a street food stall. It's often sold as frozen food at supermarkets and eaten. After all, freshly made food is the most delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Japanese restaurant
Kani Doraku Dotonbori Higashi Mise is a bustling seafood restaurant known for its wide range of crab-based dishes. The restaurant is famous for its giant moving red crab, a popular sight in the vibrant Dotonbori area. The menu features an array of crab dishes including sushi, tempura, boiled and grilled crab. While the food is excellent, it's advisable to make reservations due to the restaurant's popularity and high demand during peak hours.
"A happy surprise." We arrived around 2PM and were shown a room right away. This is a traditional tatami mat restaurant which was a surprising treat for our group. The service we received from the very beginning was nothing short of perfect and everything was timed in a precise manner. The food and drinks were served shortly after placing and for a location in the heart of one of the busiest places in all of Osaka, I was amazed at how quiet it was and how far removed we felt. This place definitely transports you and is a nice experience after a day of sight seeing. A happy surprise. Would definitely recommend.

They accept walk in and we easily manage to get one on a Wednesday night. We asked if there was western seating and they brought us to a different room with more accommodating seating. Unfortunately you have to take off your shoes for both as it is tatami. The food came quickly and the food was delicious. They even held our luggage for us. Highly recommend their set meals (kaiseki).

This is one of my favorite crab restaurants. Every dish is exquisite, umami and delicious, except crab shumai. Japanese style service: attentive and friendly. We were lucky to dine in a private room. When we were about to leave and before entering the elevator, the lady who served us today trotted down the hallway and gave us an Origami crab! How sweet! Easy online reservation

Didn't expect much but came out super satisfied. Fresh crab meat, excellent flavor, and everything was well-made. Totally worth the queue and the price. My favorite part was pouring the soup into the burnt pot rice at the end. 10/10 wonderful experience. Would revisit.

Fantastic experience. I visited back in January for a weekend lunch with a reservation. I got the most expensive set from the lunch menu which was around the 7000 yen mark. For the amount and quality of food received, I thought it was worth the money. We first started with some crab legs and vegetables, served with a vinegar sauce and I believe a sauce made from crab inners. This starter was decent as we were able to taste the subtle sweet and salty flavour of the crab, and the vinegar complemented it well. The vegetables tasted fresh. The crab sashimi was solid. It was quite delicate and subtle in flavour and had an interesting chewy texture to it. The chawanmushi was good. It was smooth, creamy and the top layer tasted like it was infused with lemon zest as it had a bitter, citrus flavour. The grilled crab was excellent and was one of my favourite items. Cooking this way helped to pronounce the sweetness of the crab. It also had a nice flaky texture. I also enjoyed the crab gratin. It was cheesy and rich. The crab hotpot was also one of my highlights of the meal. The light dashi broth complimented the sweetness and saltiness of the crab. The accompaniments were fresh and worked well with the broth. The crab tempura was solid. It was fried well and crispy. The crab sushi was also decent. The rice had a strong vinegar flavour, but I was still able to taste the flavour of the crab and the other ingredients. We ended with vanilla ice cream and matcha which was whisked at the table. The ice cream was fine, but unfortunately icy. Overall, this lunch set was quite good and each item was fairly consistent in taste and quality. 4.5/5

THE FOOD TRAVELLER REVIEW Since staying so near to the place, decided to drop by to have dinner over one of the branches. Went in without any reservations around 6pm and got a table straightaway. Staff names Hnin, was helpful in explaining the menu. Food were served in proper pace. Tasty and fresh. The only complaint would be the time to wait for the rice to be cooked took a while and the price point. But well, what to expect if you are eating some crabs in tourist area.

Kani Dōraku Dōtonbori Higashi Mise – Iconic Osaka crab spot with a huge moving crab sign. Serves fresh crab in many styles—hot pot, sashimi, grilled, tempura. Fun, theatrical, touristy. Freshness praised, some dishes hit-or-miss. Busy—go early or book ahead.

This is my third time coming to this restaurant, but for the first time on this location. It was a sibling trip with my elder sister and brother. We ordered two set menus and one shabu shabu. The food was delicious as usual. However, the only setback was that there were only 3 servers because the other two or three were trainees, so the servers were too busy and weren't able to serve the tea right away. Overall, it was still a great dining experience. If they can serve tablet orders on this location (like the original place) instead of QR code, it would be nice too. とても美味しい ありがとう お疲れさま!

(Translated by Google) I visited with my family on August 16, 2024. It would be no exaggeration to say that I had never eaten such delicious meat before. The quality of the meat itself was of course high, but the preparation and grilling were also excellent, with no streaks or fat that couldn't be chewed, and it was so tender that I could enjoy every bite. Chateaubriand was especially recommended. Personally, I also liked the fried tofu appetizer. The fine texture of the tofu, yet chewy texture, and the perfect compatibility with the soup stock made me want to come back for more. thank you very much.

This is a famous steak restaurant in Hirakata. It is located in a quiet residential area. The atmosphere inside the store is very calm. The toilet is so gorgeous All the dishes are beautifully presented and visually appealing. Lunch limited power lunch is so delicious that fried shrimp is impossible! I don't remember which course it was, but the appetizers were very cute, and the course meat was mixed with sirloin and fillet, and both meats were soft and delicious. Since I made a reservation for my birthday, it would have been nice to have a message included on the birthday plate ♫ Reservations are required as this place is always full no matter when you go. Parking lots are spaced close to each other It's always full. The price isn't cheap, but it might be good for occasional treats or for special occasions! I've only used it for lunch, but it seems like they don't serve dinner at the moment. Nestled conveniently near Hirakata-shi Station, Nettai Syokudou is a delightful gem for those craving authentic Thai and Indonesian cuisine. With a team of skilled chefs from Thailand and Indonesia, the restaurant serves up dishes that stay true to their roots, ensuring an experience that's both flavorful and satisfying. From the comforting rad na to the aromatic khao man gai, there's something for every palate here.
It’s been one of my favorite restaurants in Japan for 10 years! This time we had the green curry which has an amazing sweet coconut flavor, grilled chicken skewers covered in sauce, fried spring rolls, fried chicken, pineapple lassi, and Thai coffee. All perfection! The menu has so much variety, too. I cannot recommend it enough~~ (Also, get the coconut ice cream!!)

This is a fantastic Thai-Indonesian restaurant right near Hirakata-shi Station. For us, it’s perfect because some of the staff are Thai and know how to properly cook Thai food—without appealing to a less spicy palate. We have come here to eat many times and have picked up all sorts of dishes from rad na (ราดหน้า) to khao man gai (ข้าวมันไก่). We will be back. 🌶️🌶️ 🇹🇭 🇮🇩 Only downside: it’s slow and waiting for delivery pickup is endless—40-60 min.
