Heritage building
Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace is an opulent residence that belonged to the 18th century ruler, Tipu Sultan. The palace boasts picturesque grounds and a captivating historical exhibition. Designed by Tipu Sultan's son, the gardens are reminiscent of the stunning landscapes in Sira, Karnataka. The palace is adorned with exotic flowers and trees imported from various countries, making it a haven for rare bird species like Myna and Brahminy kites.
I recently visited Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace in Bangalore and really liked it. The palace is beautiful with amazing wooden architecture and detailed carvings. It’s clean, peaceful, and full of history. A nice place to visit and learn about Bangalore’s royal past. Definitely worth seeing!
Zabed N — Google review
What’s Great 1. Architectural Beauty The palace is a fine example of Indo-Islamic architecture. It’s built largely of teak wood on a stone base, with ornate carvings, arches, balconies, and floral motifs. The “zenana” quarters (women’s rooms), durbar hall, and the projecting balconies are particularly striking. 2. Historical Significance Commissioned by Hyder Ali and completed by Tipu Sultan in 1791, the palace served as his summer residence and administrative centre. After his death, the British used it as a secretariat. It offers good insight into the late-18th century Mysore kingdom and its struggles. 3. Museum / Artifact Displays A part of the ground floor has been converted into a museum with artifacts: portraits, weapons, costumes, some replicas (e.g. Tipu’s Tiger) etc. It helps bring to life the era and the person of Tipu Sultan. 4. Central Location & Accessibility The palace is located in Old Bangalore (Chamrajpet), near KR Market and Fort area. It’s reachable by public transport, autos, and not very far from main transit points. Good for tourists wanting to combine it with other nearby heritage spots. 5. Low Entry Fee For Indian citizens, the price is very modest. It makes it an affordable heritage outing. What Could Be Better / Things to Keep in Mind 1. Scale / Surroundings Some visitors find it a bit underwhelming compared to larger palaces (e.g. Mysore Palace). The palace grounds are not very large, and some parts of the old fort are in ruin or not preserved. Urban congestion around the palace also affects how “majestic” it feels. 2. Maintenance & Cleanliness Mixed feedback on how well some parts are kept (cleanliness, upkeep of display areas). If you care about fine detail and preservation, you might notice things that need attention. 3. Crowds & Timing Being in a busy part of Bangalore, the traffic and the surroundings can detract from the experience. Early mornings or weekdays are likely best to avoid crowds and heat. 4. Expect Modest Museum The museum is interesting, but it’s not huge. If you’re expecting expansive exhibits or very polished display technology you might reach your limit fairly quickly. 5. Photography / Permissions There are some rules around photography inside certain parts; and expect small extra charges for cameras in some cases. Final Verdict If you like history, architecture, or want to see a heritage site that is accessible and not too touristy, Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace is very much worth a visit. It offers a good slice of Bangalore’s past without requiring a full-day commitment or hefty ticket. Just go with modest expectations and especially visit early to enjoy it best.

Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace is a beautiful historical monument that showcases rich Indo-Islamic architecture and the legacy of Tipu Sultan. The wooden pillars, arches, and intricate carvings reflect great craftsmanship. The palace is easily accessible, with a metro station located nearby, making it convenient to visit. The entry fee is ₹20, and visitors need to scan a QR code and fill out a form before entering, which can feel a bit inconvenient. However, the palace’s well-preserved structure, peaceful surroundings, and historical value make it a worthwhile visit for anyone interested in Bengaluru’s cultural and royal heritage.

Good place if you're much into the history. Old ad rustic place but it was peaceful inside. It's located near the KR Market Metro Station. You can walk from the metro station . The entry ticket is Rs 20. To book the tickets you need to go there and scan it.
Dikshya — Google review
A beautiful and historically rich monument located in the heart of Bangalore. The palace was originally started by Hyder Ali and completed by Tipu Sultan in the late 18th century, and it served as a summer retreat as well as a space for holding court. The structure is built in Indo-Islamic style with elegant teak wood pillars, arches, and balconies—simple yet impressive. There’s also a small museum inside that displays artifacts, paintings, and historical information related to Tipu Sultan and his era. The place is well maintained and the surrounding gardens are peaceful, making it a calm spot away from the busy city roads. The palace itself is not very large, so a visit typically takes 30–45 minutes, but it’s definitely worth it if you enjoy history or architecture. Entry fee: ₹20 for Indian citizens and ₹250 for foreign visitors. The pricing is quite reasonable considering the historical value. Overall, a must-visit heritage site in Bangalore—great for history lovers, tourists, and anyone exploring the city’s cultural landmarks.
Pritish M — Google review
The palace isn’t very big. It’s not too crowded, which makes the visit calm and pleasant. At the entrance, there’s a scanner where you need to scan and fill in your details before entry. The ticket fee is ₹20 for Indian citizens. Toilets are available, and there’s paid parking nearby. Overall, a short visit for those interested in history and heritage.
Swathy N — Google review
Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace is located near KR Market in Bengaluru. It is a small but interesting historical spot and was the summer residence of Tipu Sultan. The moment you enter, you notice the wooden architecture, carved teak pillars, arches and balconies. The place feels calm and gives a real sense of old history. Inside there is a small museum displaying old clothes, weapons, paintings and items related to Tipu Sultan. It is not a huge palace, but it is worth visiting if you like heritage and old architecture. The palace is open from 8.30 in the morning to 5.30 in the evening. Entry costs around twenty rupees for Indian visitors. They do not accept cash at the ticket counter anymore. Tickets have to be paid online, and they will ask for a valid ID card at the entrance, so keep one with you. Photography is not allowed inside the small museum where you can see Tipu's toy tiger. It usually takes around 45 minutes to one hour to see the place properly. It is easy to reach by auto or bus because it is in the center of the city. If you enjoy quiet places and want a break from the noise outside, this is a good spot to explore.
Deepak E — Google review
The place is beautiful and rich with historical architecture, giving off a truly royal and majestic feel. The structure itself is impressive, but it’s important to note that there’s no furniture inside — it’s purely the building and its historical charm. One downside is that the entry payment process is a bit confusing and time-consuming, which could definitely be improved for a smoother visitor experience. There’s also no dedicated parking space, which can be inconvenient. I visited on a weekend, and surprisingly it wasn’t very crowded, so exploring the site was okay.

Garden
Lalbagh Botanical Garden in Bangalore is a historic and expansive garden that originated as a private royal garden spanning 40 acres. Initially designed in Mughal style, it was further developed by Tipu Sultan and later expanded by British and Indian horticulturists. The garden is renowned for its support of agriculture, conservation of plant species, and contribution to the advancement of cultivation.
Very nice Lalbagh is an absolute must-visit if you are in Bengaluru. It truly lives up to its name as the 'Lungs of the City.' The variety of trees and plants is staggering, and the layout is perfect for a long, relaxing walk. Highlights: The Glass House: It’s stunning architecture and makes for great photos. The Lake: Very peaceful to sit by, and I spotted quite a few birds. Cleanliness: The park is well-maintained despite being so popular. I recommend going early in the morning to beat the heat and the crowds. It’s a fantastic spot for photography or just disconnecting from the city traffic. Highly recommended!

A Calming Green Oasis in Bengaluru Lalbagh Botanical Garden offers a decent escape from the city hustle. I had an "OK" experience, largely thanks to the wonderfully calm and fresh environment. If you're looking for a spot with natural bird sounds to truly cool down and relax your mind, this place is highly recommended. It's a true "lung space" for Bengaluru. A major plus was the e-cycle ride, which is a fantastic way to cover the vast garden expanse. The rental seemed to have a flexible pricing, as I saw options for a short ride. I did a ride. We also caught the artificial waterfall near the lake, which operates on a fixed schedule. We saw it running from 6:00 PM to 6:15 PM. It adds a nice, serene touch to the lake area when it's on. My one major feeling was a slight lack of a "zoo" or large animal presence (apart from birds), which I missed—it felt more like a purely botanical experience rather than a nature park with diverse wildlife. However, for a botanical garden, all the basic amenities and facilities are well-maintained. Conclusion ; If you are in Bengaluru, it's definitely worth a visit for a peaceful, nature-filled break and a lovely walk or cycle ride.

Recently visited here — it’s a beautiful and refreshing place to connect with nature. The garden is huge, and it’s quite hard to cover the entire area within an hour. You’ll find ancient, massive trees and a wide variety of plant species, making it a paradise for nature lovers. The garden is well-maintained, with benches for sitting, trash bins placed throughout, and washroom and drinking water facilities available inside. There are also food stalls, a fountain area, and a poly house that add to the experience. The entry fee is ₹50 for adults and ₹20 for children. Plastic bottles are not allowed, which helps keep the place clean. I also visited the nursery, though it was closed due to a festive occasion. It’s a great spot for families, couples, or anyone looking for peace amidst greenery. The calm atmosphere and natural beauty truly make you feel one with nature. 🌿🌸

Lalbagh Botanical Garden is truly a beautiful and serene oasis in the heart of Bangalore. It's a perfect place for nature lovers and photographers, with a stunning variety of plants and a peaceful lake to relax by. The beautiful wooden art scattered around adds a unique charm, blending art with nature effortlessly. Don’t miss the Bonsai Garden, which showcases a fascinating collection of miniature trees that captivate visitors with their delicate beauty. Overall, Lalbagh is one of the best places to visit for a refreshing and inspiring experience.

An Absolute Oasis of Tranquility and Beauty! Lalbagh Botanical Garden is more than just a garden; it's the green heart of Bangalore and a true breath of fresh air amidst the city's hustle. This is easily one of the most stunning botanical experiences I've ever had, deserving every one of its five stars. The sheer scale and diversity of the flora are breathtaking. You could spend hours wandering the perfectly manicured lawns and discovering exotic plant species. The iconic Glass House is a magnificent architectural marvel, especially when bathed in sunlight, and the massive Lalbagh Rock offers a fantastic view and a quiet spot for reflection. The maintenance is impeccable—everything is clean, well-labeled, and thoughtfully arranged. Whether you're a serious botanist, a photographer, or just someone looking for a peaceful escape, Lalbagh caters to all. It’s a perfect spot for morning walks, family picnics, or simply relaxing under the shade of ancient trees. Don't miss the flower shows if you time your visit right! Highly, highly recommended.

Lalbagh Botanical Garden is one of those rare places in Bangalore where time slows down and the city noise fades into the background. The moment you walk in, you’re welcomed by lush greenery, towering trees, and beautifully maintained pathways that make every step feel refreshing. The star attraction, of course, is the iconic Glass House, which looks stunning whether you visit in the quiet mornings or during the flower shows. The variety of plants—from vibrant flowers to rare species—adds so much charm, and you can easily spend hours exploring different corners without even realizing it. What I love most is the peaceful vibe. Whether you're going for a morning walk, photography, or just a break from daily routine, Lalbagh never disappoints. The lake inside the garden is another calming spot, perfect for sitting by the water and watching birds. It can get slightly crowded on weekends, but the garden is big enough to always find a quiet nook for yourself. The entry fee is minimal, and the overall experience feels priceless compared to the serenity you get. Overall, Lalbagh Botanical Garden is a must-visit—beautiful, calming, and truly refreshing. A little green paradise right in the heart of Bangalore.

It was a beautiful experience. The day was 🌞 I went with my family to explore the beauty of this huge botanical garden that has flora species dating back to hundreds of years ago. Enchanting. ❤️😇 We took the ride for 45 mins which is charged ₹100 per person. The guide thoroughly took us to different locations of the botanical garden taking small stops at specific points. Overall it was a nice experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the place. Recommended to family and friends. ✨

One of the prettiest garden I have ever visited. So beautiful, peaceful and huge. Our first option was Cubbon Park due to its ratings but when I visited this instead, I was glad. It's really beautiful! The way everything is maintained there is very pleasant. The whole area around this park is so cool due to the trees in the garden. Very less pollution and lot of things to do😍

Vidhana Soudha is a massive and architecturally significant building that houses the state legislative chambers in Bangalore, Karnataka. It is a landmark structure constructed in a neo-Dravidian style, incorporating elements from various historical kingdoms. The building features imposing columns, a central dome topped with a structure resembling the state emblem, and watchtowers. As the seat of the Government of Karnataka, Vidhana Soudha captivates visitors with its grand granite construction and impressive design.
We visited Vidhana Soudha in Bangalore, and it was an absolutely stunning experience! 🌇✨ The grand architecture, shining lights, and majestic structure make it one of the most beautiful landmarks in Karnataka. The view in the evening was truly mesmerizing — perfect for photos and peaceful walks around. 📸💫 It’s a must-visit place for anyone exploring Bangalore — a proud symbol of Karnataka’s heritage and governance. 🇮🇳 ⭐ Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)

Vidhana Soudha, located in the heart of Bengaluru, Karnataka, is one of the most magnificent and iconic government buildings in India. Serving as the seat of the Karnataka State Legislature, this grand structure is a symbol of the city’s political, cultural, and architectural pride. Built between 1951 and 1956 under the leadership of Kengal Hanumanthaiah, Vidhana Soudha represents a perfect blend of Dravidian, Rajasthani, and Indo-Saracenic architectural styles. The first thing that captures your attention is its majestic appearance. Built entirely out of granite, the building stands tall at around 150 feet, with an impressive central dome and beautifully carved pillars and arches. The inscription on the front — “Government’s Work is God’s Work” — reflects the noble ideals behind its creation. The massive staircase leading up to the entrance adds to its grandeur, making it one of the most photographed landmarks in Bengaluru. At night, when the entire building is illuminated, it becomes a breathtaking sight. The golden glow of lights highlights every detail of its architecture, drawing both locals and tourists to admire its beauty. The area around Vidhana Soudha, especially the Cubbon Park and the High Court building nearby, adds to the charm and historical significance of the place. Although the interiors are not open to the general public every day, visitors can still enjoy the view from outside and capture memorable photos. Security is tight since it’s a functioning government building, but the surroundings are clean and well-maintained. In short, Vidhana Soudha is not just an administrative center — it’s a proud symbol of Karnataka’s heritage, democracy, and progress. Anyone visiting Bengaluru should not miss this grand monument, which perfectly combines political importance with architectural brilliance.

Visiting Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru was a really nice experience. The building looks grand with its special South Indian-style design, beautiful stone walls, and big dome. It stands right in the middle of the city and looks very impressive even from outside. The gardens around it are clean and well-kept, and at night, the building lights up beautifully—especially on Sundays and public holidays. It’s a great place to take photos or enjoy a quiet walk. People are usually not allowed to go inside, but the outside view and its history make it worth visiting. If you’re in Bengaluru, do visit this place and spend at least 30 to 60 minutes to enjoy the view and surroundings.

This state legislature building is one of Bengaluru’s most iconic landmarks, known for its exquisite handwork, grand architecture, and heritage charm. The intricate details on the facade are a testament to the craftsmanship of a bygone era—truly a treat for history and architecture lovers. It’s not just a historic site but also an important metro stop, with easy access to the High Court and Cubbon Park. However, the main road outside is extremely busy, and there’s very limited open space in front, so be cautious while visiting—especially if you're on foot or with children. Despite that, it’s widely considered a must-visit location when in Bangalore. A great place to soak in the civic pride and cultural legacy of the city!

Firstly, sincere thanks to U. T. Khader for giving the general public a valuable opportunity to visit the Vidhana Soudha. It’s a commendable initiative to promote civic awareness and transparency. However, we were quite disappointed with a key aspect of the experience. We had specifically booked a Kannada-language slot, expecting the guide to conduct the tour in Kannada. Unfortunately, the lady guide assigned to us initially did not know Kannada and instead requested us to "adjust." If we were willing to adjust, we would have simply booked the English slot in the first place. This left us wondering—are we really in Karnataka, or somewhere else? It’s disheartening that a Kannada-speaking group cannot expect a Kannada guide in the heart of Karnataka’s government building. Later on, another guide was able to manage both the English and Kannada groups, for which we’re thankful. But the initial experience left us disappointed and concerned about the respect given to the state language in such an important institution. We hope future arrangements ensure that language-specific bookings are honored properly, especially when it comes to Kannada in Karnataka.

Vidhana Soudha, located in the heart of Bengaluru, Karnataka, is one of the city’s most iconic landmarks and a proud symbol of India’s democratic spirit. It serves as the seat of the Karnataka State Legislature and Secretariat, representing the administrative and political hub of the state. Visitors are often awestruck by its majestic architecture, which combines elements of Dravidian, Rajasthani, and Indo-Saracenic styles. The grand granite structure, with its massive central dome, ornamental pillars, and intricate carvings, showcases both the artistic excellence and engineering brilliance of post-independence India. At night, the entire building is illuminated with bright golden lights, offering a breathtaking view that attracts countless tourists and photographers. Many visitors describe it as a must-see monument for anyone visiting Bengaluru, both for its historical importance and architectural beauty.

🏛️ Vidhana Soudha, Bengaluru — The Pride of Karnataka While exploring the heart of Bengaluru, I couldn’t miss visiting the magnificent Vidhana Soudha, the seat of Karnataka’s state legislature. Even though I only admired it from the outside, the experience was absolutely worth it. Standing tall with its grand granite structure and beautifully carved domes, Vidhana Soudha truly showcases the best of Dravidian and Indo-Saracenic architecture. The massive pillars, detailed engravings, and the famous inscription “Government’s work is God’s work” reflect both strength and elegance. The area surrounding the building is serene and clean, with manicured lawns and tree-lined paths. Watching the early morning sun light up the golden emblem atop the dome was such a peaceful sight — a perfect moment to just pause and admire Bengaluru’s political and architectural heart. Even though entry inside is restricted, the view from the outside gives you a sense of the city’s legacy and pride. If you’re ever exploring central Bengaluru, make sure to take a short detour to witness this landmark — especially during the evening when it’s beautifully lit up. ✨ 📍 Location: Near Cubbon Park, Bengaluru 🕰️ Best Time to Visit: Early morning or evening for great lighting and fewer crowds

National park
Park
Bannerughatta Biological Park, located on the outskirts of South Bangalore, is a renowned wildlife conservation center and the first biological recreation center in India to house a butterfly farm. The park aims to preserve wildlife and educate younger generations about its importance. With around 1500 animals, including leopards, wild boars, sloth bears, elephants, lions, tigers and cheetahs, it offers visitors an opportunity to observe these creatures up close through vehicle tours.
I have visited Bannerghatta National Park last 1 month back, and it was a wonderful experience overall. The park offers a good mix of activities – the zoo, butterfly park, and especially the safari. The safari ride was exciting and gave us close views of lions, tigers, bears, and herbivores in large enclosures that feel close to their natural habitat. The butterfly park was peaceful and colorful, making it a nice break after the safari. The zoo is quite big, with a variety of animals and birds, though some enclosures could be better maintained. Overall, I’d definitely recommend it for families, kids, or anyone looking for a short getaway with wildlife and nature. Go early, carry water, and be patient for the best experience.☺️☺️
Sita C — Google review
I visited Bannerghatta National Park yesterday (on a Sunday) and had pre-booked my safari tickets online. We took a BMTC bus to reach the park, which took around 1 hour and 30 minutes. Since it was a Sunday, the place was extremely crowded and there was a long queue at the ticket counter. So, I’d recommend booking your tickets online if you plan to visit on weekends. We had booked the non-AC safari bus, and luckily, we didn’t have to wait as we reached on time. The bus started immediately, and the safari experience was really nice. We saw deer, wild buffaloes, bears, Bengal and white tigers, lions, and elephants. If you want to take clear pictures or get a better view, I suggest going for the AC bus, as the non-AC one has metal cages that block the view a bit. After the safari, we went to the Hill View Restaurant inside the zoo for lunch, but the food was very disappointing — it was unhygienic, tasted bad, and was expensive. The zoo itself was quite boring, as most animals were far away and looked tired. It was also too crowded to walk comfortably. Overall, the safari was worth it, but the zoo and food could have been better. I’d say it’s a nice place to visit once, especially with friends. Make sure to book your tickets in early morning slot to avoid the weekend rush.

Bannerghatta National Park offers a rewarding escape for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts. Located conveniently near Bangalore, it features a variety of attractions including wildlife safaris, a zoo, and a beautifully maintained butterfly park. The safari experience stands out, giving visitors the chance to see animals like tigers, lions, and bears up close, a highlight for many. While the park provides a great opportunity to connect with nature without venturing too far from the city, it's worth noting that safety supervision may be inconsistent in some areas. Additionally, those expecting a large-scale, immersive safari might find it more modest in comparison. Still, for a short, accessible wildlife experience, Bannerghatta makes for an enjoyable day trip.

Good outing for a day. Kids will love it. Adequate parking available.. I have booked ac bus combo which is 740 per adult and 530 per child..free for less than 5 yr old kids but seat will not be provided. It includes bus safari, butterfly park and zoo. bus safari is in a mini bus with 13 seats. Even though we book slots, time doesn't matter much. There is a waiting area and people are sent as per the time they report there.Duration is 1 hr. You get to see a lot of deers, few elephants, tigers, lions, bears, leopard, and crocodile in the safari. Tiger and lion areas were restricted. Butterfly park is a dome kind of building and is beautifully maintained. Zoo area can be walked or buggy is available. It took one hr in the queue for buggy ticket. Buggy ride was very noisy bcoz of the horn as there is very little space available next to those who are walking. Lots of reptiles, birds, monkeys available. Zebras, giraffes are also there. Overall a good experience. Precautions: DONT PLAN ON WEEKENDS. carry adequate sun protection items and food items. No plastic packets like lays permitted inside. Outside there are shops which well brown paper bags in which you can carry those things. One restaurant is there inside but it was very crowded. Exit road was muddy single road and it would be very difficult to drive if it rains. I REPEAT: DONT GO ON WEEKENDS

This park is a great escape from city life, offering a peaceful environment to relax, think, and write. The jeep safari is a highlight, providing a unique experience with close encounters with animals, including a lion. The butterfly house is also a good stop. Be prepared to pay for the safari with cash, as foreign cards are not accepted. The cost for a jeep was 5700 rupees. It is recommended to have your taxi or Uber driver wait for you during your visit.

Bangalore's attraction tourist place it is. It’s not a very large zoo, but it’s just the right size for a half-day outing. However, one serious concern was the lack of proper supervision and safety enforcement. During Safari, spotted few animals like Lion, tiger, Bear, Elephants etc. Butterfly park is good for kids. Well-maintained zoo with a variety of animals to see. Crowded during weekends/holidays. Go for the safari it’s worth it. But don’t expect too much from the zoo part. Best place to spend time with kids and families.

Modern art museum
Museums
The National Gallery of Modern Arts (Bengaluru) is a sprawling museum established in 2009 within the heritage Manikyavelu Mansions. It is part of a trio of galleries set up by the Indian Ministry of Culture to showcase the historical significance and heritage of Indian art dating back to the 18th century.
Tucked right in the middle of the city, yet far away from all its chaos, this place is pure calm. The lush trees, shrubs, and blooming flowers make you feel like you’ve stepped into a little oasis. The entry fee for Indians is just ₹20 – a small price for the peace and beauty you’ll find here. Once inside, you’ll be asked to leave your bags at the store near the entrance and collect a token. The main art gallery sits in a charming old building that itself feels like a piece of history. The ground floor is home to the incredible works of the legendary Nandalal Bose, while the upper floors are filled with artworks that truly stop you in your tracks – acrylics, watercolours, oils, mixed media, ink, and pencil sketches, all beautifully displayed. The building’s design, its thoughtful upkeep, and the warm politeness of the staff deserve a special mention. Practical touches like the lift, auditorium, washrooms, and a small cafeteria on the ground floor make the visit even smoother.

Really nice gallery, the art was wonderful and the space and area itself were quite peaceful. However, I didn’t quite understand the rules around not being allowed to take videos of the place/pictures of yourself next to the art. Respected it regardless, of course, but the constant presence of staff in each room, closely watching and following visitors, made the experience a bit uncomfortable. I get that they’re there to ensure the rules are followed, but the way it was handled felt a little intrusive.

First visit, and I was honestly surprised. 20rs ticket, and what you get is priceless. Beautiful old building, peaceful garden, and rooms filled with art I’ve never seen before. Felt calm and curious the whole time. It’s not crowded or loud just quiet, thoughtful, and very different from usual places in Bangalore. A perfect place to slow down and see something new.

Entry fee is just Rs. 20 for Indians. Every room has security personnel that are doing their job diligently, at times it feels like they are stalking you 😅 but they are super friendly and helpful. However, if you have any doubts, there's no one for clarification. I was told that guided tours are conducted on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 4 pm (please call the museum to confirm). Art is subjective, so cannot comment on it. I just want to point out that visit this museum with an open mind, not just by the name of the museum. There were paintings and sculptures (wooden, metal, stone, etc.). While it's kept well in terms of cleanliness and organization, there's lingering foul smell in the hall on the first floor. There's a gift shop, with the items reasonably priced. Behind that you could find the canteen (by the looks of it and the menu, I only purchased a water bottle). And beside the canteen, drinking water and bathrooms (not-so-clean) are available. Art library can be accessed from the adjacent staircase. I spent around 90 minutes, time well spent.

1. Entry Fee – Just ₹20, very affordable. 2. Art Collection – Includes modern, traditional, and contemporary works. 3. Oil Paintings – Many beautiful oil paintings displayed. 4. Ambience – Calm and clean environment. 5. Building – Attractive heritage-style architecture. 6. Time Required – 1 to 2 hours is enough. 7. Photography – Not allowed inside. 8. Location – Easy to access, central area. 9. Car Parking – Available inside the premises.

The National Gallery of Modern Art, Bangalore, is a serene escape offering a diverse collection of Indian artists. A special highlight for my visit was the appearance of Caravaggio's "Magdalene in Ecstasy," a must-see for art lovers. Its quiet, peaceful setting makes it perfect for contemplation.

South Indian restaurant
Karavalli, situated at Vivanta Bengaluru Residency Road, is a refined restaurant that showcases regional dishes from the southwest coast of India. The menu features a variety of classic dishes such as fiery crab milagu fry, tiger prawns roast, and Alleppey meen curry. The focus is on authentic flavors and cooking techniques from Hindu, Muslim, and Christian coastal communities. The restaurant's architecture is inspired by traditional Mangalorean bungalows surrounded by tamarind trees.
Be careful when searching for Karavalli, because there is another restaurant with a similar name nearby called Karavali Fine Dining. That one is a basic setup under a building and is not the same at all. The real Karavalli is slightly hidden off the main road, on a quiet and beautiful side street. It feels like walking into a secret garden, with fountains, gazebos, outdoor seating under the trees, and charming indoor halls with wooden floors, wooden ceilings, and Indian art on the walls. It is a stunning place. My taxi driver dropped me at the other location by mistake, and I almost missed what turned out to be one of the most memorable dining experiences I have had. They welcome you with a warm cup of spiced Rasam soup, a basket of papadam and fried snacks, along with a couple of dips. I ordered the Chicken Ghee Roast with Neer Dosa. The chicken was packed with spices that came together beautifully without feeling overwhelming. The Neer Dosa was plain but perfect for picking up the rich flavours of the dish, letting the chicken and the spices take centre stage. Everything was served on a banana leaf, which added to the authentic feel of the meal. Do not forget to ask for tissues, because the spices do hit your nose after a while. The service was excellent. The staff were attentive and even advised me not to over-order, which I always appreciate as it shows genuine care. I ended my meal with a South Indian filter coffee, served in the traditional style, which balanced out the spice and wrapped up the meal nicely. And just like they welcomed me with complementary Rasam, they sent me off with a complementary bowl of paan.

"Dining at Karavalli in Bangalore felt like daylight looting. The food was below average, yet the prices were absurd—₹1700 for a chicken fry starter, ₹1300 for Achinga Mezhukku, and over ₹200 for a single appam that usually costs just ₹10–20. I’ve seen many restaurants and cafés in Bangalore that are far more worthy, with better food and ambience. Here, they only played traditional flute music throughout—maybe that’s what cost so high and expensive 😂. Honestly, I don’t understand why people waste their hard-earned money on such places that offer nothing worthwhile." I think the menu card shown here is old one. New menu card will make you shocked. Prices are unjustifiable for the food, service and ambience provided. If you need to taste kerala food, there are tons of restaurants to choose from. (Eg. Chef pilla restraunt. which itself is expensive yet atleast justifiable). I don't understand how some people give high ratings. I will never reccomend this restraunt. If you want to waste money simply come here.

We had a meal for 2 at the Karavalli, Taj Residency Road, Bengaluru. Served in a great ambience with lovely carnatic music, water falls in the background and in the open. We had the Head Chef Ramachandran who has been with the property for 20+ years explaining the ingredients used and the way it is made to some great service by Shanti who was always cheerful, and delivered outstanding service. Overall a very memorable experience.

“I had an amazing experience at this hotel. The check-in was smooth, and the staff made me feel welcome right away. The room was spacious, clean, and had all modern amenities. The food was fresh and delicious with lots of variety. I also loved how peaceful and well-maintained the property was. Location is perfect, close to major attractions and easy to access. The hospitality was outstanding — the staff went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting this city.”

1. Nice ambience. 2. Food was good, although spicier than normal. The bad part is, waiters do not how to serve! The main course was ordered and was served in parts, with dishes first and bread with such a delay that the food turned cold! 3. It rained a bit, which was pleasant but these guys needed to prepare a bit better for the present condition. 4. Perhaps I should have come with a booking. Although many seats were not with a "Reserved" placard, the lady made I wait for several minutes to check the availability of seats. Looked like she wasn't well informed of the bookings. Will I come again? Maybe, but more precise instructions to the waiters. Seriously, they badly need some basic training.

I was quite disappointed with the overall quality of food during my visit. The fish, chicken, and mutton served did not feel fresh — it seemed like frozen meat that had simply been heated and plated. For the price being charged, I expected far better quality and taste. Unfortunately, the food was not worth the amount paid. The pricing is excessively high considering the standard of items served. Would not recommend based on this experience.

Ordered malabar prawn fry, kerala fish fry. Prawn fry on the sweetest side, fish fry was awesome. Mangalore fish curry below par. Very bad. Too bland and raw fish smell was coming. I won't recommend anyone for fish food to karavali.

Grasshopper, located off Bannerghatta Road, is a serene and romantic dining spot run by fashion designer duo Sonali Sattar and Himanshi Dimri. The restaurant offers a seasonal European tasting menu in a lush garden setting with live music. With just five tables, the staff takes care to cater to guests' preferences and dietary restrictions. This peaceful oasis provides an ideal setting for an unhurried, relaxing meal away from the hustle and bustle of urban life.
Nestled amidst the hustle and bustle of Bannerghatta Road, Grasshopper stands out as an eclectic gem, offering a truly one-of-a-kind dining experience. For over a decade, we’ve been loyal patrons, consistently delighted by the warm and attentive hospitality of Sonali, who ensures every visit feels personal and memorable. The thoughtfully curated dishes, drinks, and desserts make every meal a celebration of flavors, while the tranquil and picturesque property provides a serene escape from the outside world. Adding to its charm, the restaurant features a lovely boutique, perfect for a bit of shopping between courses. Over the years, we’ve celebrated all our special occasions at Grasshopper— birthdays, anniversaries and everything in between. In fact, we were just there last week, celebrating my sister’s birthday! Seasonal highlights like the strawberry salad bring freshness to the table, while staples such as the smoked almond dip and lemongrass ice cream have become personal favorites. I’ve cherished each meal at Grasshopper, and look forward to many more!

Tucked away on the outskirts of Bengaluru, Grasshopper is a hidden gem that offers a truly immersive European fine dining experience. Set within a peaceful farmhouse, the ambiance is effortlessly romantic—think candlelit tables under the stars, soft jazz in the background, and a feeling of exclusivity with only a handful of guests at a time. The tasting menu is a beautifully curated journey through European flavors, where each course feels thoughtful and refined. Highlights include perfectly seared seafood, tender meats, and inventive desserts that surprise and delight. With its slow dining philosophy and intimate setting, Grasshopper isn’t just a meal—it’s an escape. Perfect for special occasions or a quiet evening to savor good food and quiet luxury.

Visited there on a special occasion, initially I was skeptical as it's expensive and google has mixed reviews but after going there it was worth every penny. One of the best romantic and candle light dinner in it's true sense. Service was at it's best and they were very polite. Explained every food precisely and were humble. Thanks for making the day even more special. We also got complimentary cake for the occasion with apt level of sweetness in it.

To team grasshopper ! We had an incredible time at Grasshopper, so glad we chose the place to celebrate our milestone. Everything seemed so perfectly curated, the ambience, the food and the super polite staff. I had presumed our palate is not made for the continental cuisine but I’ll take that back now. Every dish was so flavourful and blended in right proportions. The place was surreal and cosy ,a quick hidden getaway from the city hustle. Also thank you Sonali ji for being understanding and accommodating change in schedule. Loved the experience overall. Regards Dr Megha & Dr Rohit

Overall not worth the price, One can get 4 star/5 star restaurant at similar price with better food options, taste and service. Food : Food options (veg) were not that great. All of them were very bland and were not delicious enough to make you want to eat again. There were not enough variety and almost all dishes had walnuts in them giving similar flavour. Service: Service was very slow and there were no attendants as such due to very limited staff they had. We had to wait around 20 mins for one of our course. We asked them to not add mustard in any dish yet they gave us a salad with mustard dressing. A fly fell into one of our drink and we asked them to give us something to pick it up. They offered to replace the drink but then no one paid any heed to replace it till the end of our dinner. We asked them to speed up the dishes so they gave us 2 main course together( we were having a 7 course meal and usually two different courses are not served together) They also did not care to change cutlery after few courses which seemed a bit disappointing given the price of their 7course meal and the service they claim to offer. Atmosphere: Outdoor sitting in evening can be very chilly and cold and there are no proper heating arrangements. Although the candles and flowers created a wonderful environment. It was very dark and we could not see what we were eating.

What I like most about Grasshopper is how unpretentious it is. It has taught me a lot about authenticity, simplicity, elegance and attention to detail, both when it comes to its food and the space. The recipes here use fresh ingredients that are innovatively combined, but nothing is overdone for the sake of it or an assault to the senses. The decor and music too are subtle and tasteful. I would definitely recommend an evening here!

Grasshopper is serving Michelin star food! Possibly one of the best fine dining restaurants in Bangalore. It is well secluded from the traffic and chaos of Bangalore, in Bannerghata. The servers are well trained and highly courteous, each table is decorated with fresh flowers and candles along with subtle ambient music and dim evening lighting, and the restaurant takes reservations only and provides a 5 to 7 course meal over 2 hours of service. It’s a great place if you really want a good culinary experience.

It’s my opinion based on my experience (as everyone has their own opinions): Occasion - anniversary Dine in for dinner. 1. Ambience and atmosphere - 4.5 stars out of 5.0 stars - fresh natural flowers on the table, candlelight dinner, silent and pleasant place - why 0.5 stars less (out of 05 stars) is that they can work on the background music, as it can be better. 2. Food - 2.0 to 2.5 stars out of 5.0 stars - quality is good with okay okay taste and quantity is not adequate - limited food menu - they have options only for welcome drink and desserts, and rest of the menu is decided by the chef himself - you don’t get to choose - and even in desserts with options, few options were not available then. 3. Price - 1.5 stars out of 5.0 stars - It is extremely overpriced - just because it serves European delicacies, it doesn’t mean that it has to be so expensive - yeah, we’re paying for the ambience, service and not food alone, but even then it’s extremely overpriced. Ps: washrooms can be better. Overall experience - Not worth the money you’re spending - can try once for the experience - 2.5 to 3.0 stars out of 5.0 stars.

We dined here three weeks ago as a large group. The food was delicious. Service was nice. Feedback regarding food and service were promptly addressed, we truly appreciate that. We loved the ambience. But one major let down was that the entire family became sick after dining here, we are suspecting the water to be the reason (We chose in-house water which is supposed to be filtered).

A luxurious ambience with a great view on the 17th floor of leela bhartiya city. This Indian restaurant is Uber luxe and suave The service was absolutely fantastic. Coming to the food we opted for the nonveg set menu and it was superlative The appetizer chaat and the nonveg starters were spot on. The main course was delectable with both the chicken and mutton well cooked and superb assortment of rotis The desserts and biryani were wonderful Better wear loose fitting clothing for this

Very beautiful ambience, located on the 17th floor, has both an inside seating arrangement and an outside rooftop lounge setting. My preference will always be the rooftop setting. The food is excellent, especially the Nalli Nihari is to kill for. The desserts are brilliant as well. Hats off to Chef Mr. Farman Ali for the supremely delectable food. Also, many thanks to Mr. Virender Yadav for the wonderful hospitality. Must Visit Place with friends and family!!!!

North Indian restaurant
Loya - Taj West End, Bengaluru is a fine-dining destination that offers a modern take on traditional Northern Indian cuisine. The restaurant provides an exquisite ambiance with indoor and semi-outdoor seating, along with exceptional service. The menu features tantalizing dishes such as Paneer Zatar, Multani Gobhi, and aromatic Gosht Biryani.
Visited in June 2025 on a Sunday for lunch. Located inside the Taj West End, Loya is a rebranding of the erstwhile “Masala Klub,” now with a focus on North Indian regional cuisine. The menu has a decent spread of vegetarian options, which we found to be quite enjoyable. The ambience and service, as always with the Taj, are top-notch. We started with the Loyal Mule, which was orange infused and light, a while the Tamarind-fennel soda, had a pleasant hit from the tamarind towards the end. The Kauni ke Kebab was lovely, while the Dal ki Chaat, prepared tableside by the chef, who customizes it to your spice and seasoning preferences was an engaging experience. The final result tasted close to a well-executed dal pakwaan. We followed that with the Paneer Zaatar, which was milder than described (a plus for us, essentially a nicely grilled, spice-rubbed paneer steak. Our main course was the Bhee Saag, a rich, thick saag preparation accompanied by condiments and lotus stem chips on the side (which tend to get soggy if left too long). The breads were good, though the portions of the Naan seemed slightly smaller than usual. We arrived early, so service was prompt and warm. The team also surprised us with a small chocolate mousse/cake to celebrate my birthday—much appreciated! A big thanks to Surendar and Shyama for their attentive service, and to Shrutika for handling the billing with a smile. Pricing is on par with a five-star experience, as expected. All in all, Loya makes for a great spot to unwind over a relaxed Sunday lunch while enjoying refined North Indian fare.

Loya at Taj West End delivers an exceptional North Indian dining experience that effortlessly blends tradition with luxury. The ambience is elegant and warm, making it a perfect choice for both special occasions and relaxed evenings. Every dish tells a story — from their creative chaats to flavourful North Indian classics, the ingredients and spices shine through. The staff are genuinely attentive, happily offering recommendations and ensuring every detail is taken care of. The overall experience feels thoughtfully curated, and while it’s definitely a premium outing, the food quality and attentive service make it well worth it. Looking forward to visiting again soon!

Went there due to it being 2nd top restaurant on the list of TripAdvisor for Bangalore and was not disappointed. We had a great experience dining here recently. The daal ki chat was amazing, and as was chicken and prawn kebabs. The desserts especially rabri with boondi was quite good. They have a wide range of innovative cocktails and mocktails, which we could try few of. The whiskey cocktails were amazing. Finally, it has the iconic Taj service which was consistent with what you'd expect from only Taj :)

Not going to say anything about the food except 1) Go to Loya; you won’t be disappointed. 2) Don’t go if you are a boring the dal makhni/ butter chicken sort of person 🤣. Food blew me away especially the lamb in the roasted walnut shell gravy. Unusual delicious flavours. Excellent service. The mukhwas at the end was an unusual concept. Taj west end is lovely and Loya is a beautiful setting.

Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a quality dining experience.

Had an average food experience at Taj West End, Bangalore. While the staff was prompt and available to assist, they seemed to lack basic training — one even came from behind unexpectedly to pour water, and similar lapses in serving etiquette were noticed. Disappointed with the overall experience, especially given the brand’s reputation.

Loya at Taj West End in Bengaluru offers an exceptional dining experience where the food is not only beautifully presented but also incredibly flavorful. The ingredients are fresh and of the highest quality, and the chefs skillfully use traditional Indian cooking techniques to enhance the natural flavors of each dish. Dining at Loya is a true pleasure, combining exquisite cuisine with impeccable service.

Rim Naam is a stunning Thai restaurant located within the luxurious five-star hotel, The Oberoi. Its name, meaning "by the water," perfectly captures its setting by a serene pond surrounded by lush gardens. The restaurant offers an elegant dining experience with classic grandeur, impeccable service, and a menu filled with authentic Thai dishes and fresh seafood. Guests can enjoy alfresco seating on a floating wooden structure while being serenaded by soft classical music.
There’s no beating this place, hands down the best Asian food in all of bangalore ! Matched with Oberoi hospitality. Have been here multiple times , love the crab dishes, aside the regular Thai curry, flat noodles I have enjoyed. Also! the coconut dessert they serve in the martini glass. Their ice creams is available are quite epic too !
Krishni M — Google review
We visited Rim Naam for our anniversary dinner. The ambiance was lovely and made for a pleasant evening. We started with their signature veg platter, which was decent but didn’t quite deliver the “WOW” we were expecting in terms of flavor. The mocktails, however, were refreshing and enjoyable. For the main course, we had the red curry and Pad Thai noodles—both part of their signature offerings. While the presentation was nice, the taste was underwhelming, especially the red curry, which we've had better versions of at other places. It felt quite average considering the fine-dining expectations. We ended the meal with the Rim Naam special Mandarin dessert. Visually, it was stunning, but again, the taste didn’t quite match up. Overall, while the setting and service were pleasant, the food didn’t quite feel 5-star or memorable in terms of flavor. We were hoping for more standout dishes and a stronger Thai flavor profile.

The Thai Restaurant, nestled within The Oberoi Hotel in Bangalore, truly stands out as an exceptional dining destination. Its limited seating creates an intimate atmosphere, making advance booking essential. The ambience is a major highlight: stepping in feels like entering a tranquil oasis, with the restaurant tucked beneath a canopy of dense trees and beside a serene pond, offering a wonderfully rustic and almost magical setting. As for the food, the set menu is not only incredibly filling but also a culinary delight. Each dish bursts with authentic flavors, showcasing an amazing taste profile that consistently impresses. It's an unforgettable experience for both the senses and the palate.

Visited Rim Naam for my brother’s anniversary dinner. The ambience and atmosphere were outstanding , the open air setting by the water, warm lighting, and serene vibe truly elevate the experience. The service was courteous and professional, adding to the charm of the evening. However, while the presentation was elegant, the overall food taste was quite average and didn’t fully meet the expectations one has from a fine-dining restaurant in a 5-star hotel. The standout highlight of the meal was the dessert — The Mandarin ,beautifully crafted and delicious, definitely worth trying. Overall, Rim Naam impresses with its ambience, service, and dessert options, but the main course flavours could use more refinement to match the setting.

Nestled within the serene and green setting of The Oberoi, Bengaluru, Rim Naam offers an exquisite escape into the world of fine Thai dining. Surrounded by lotus ponds and lush landscapes, the ambiance is as breathtaking as the food. With its elegant open-air seating and tranquil atmosphere, it creates a truly immersive dining experience that transports guests to the heart of Thailand while remaining rooted in the charm of Bengaluru. The culinary offerings at Rim Naam are nothing short of exceptional. The menu is a thoughtfully curated selection of authentic Thai dishes—from aromatic Tom Yum soups to spicy Pad Thai noodles, rich Massaman curries, and perfectly steamed jasmine rice. Every dish is a burst of flavor, showcasing fresh ingredients and traditional techniques. The chefs demonstrate great attention to detail, ensuring each plate is visually stunning and true to its roots. Service at Rim Naam is impeccable, striking the perfect balance between warm hospitality and professionalism. The staff is knowledgeable, courteous, and eager to make your visit memorable. Delicious food, great service and calming atmosphere. We ordered grilled tiger prawns and stir fry seafood. The prawns and rest of the seafood was perfectly cooked to give a soft juicy experience. Himani and the entire staff there were extremely welcoming and attentive. The soft oriental music added charm to the soothing ambience. To top it off, Himani offered Thapthim krop on the house. It was indeed one of the best tasting Thai desserts I have had. I’d highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for exquisite Thai food coupled with equally exquisite dining experience.

The ambience in the evening is quite pleasant . Last evening there were too many mosquitoes . We had great service from Salini, Manthan and team We had the Rayong and Touch of Thailand Cocktails. The Duck salad with the Orange Chilli Spicing was tasty as was the Meat Platter. Amongst the complimentary Rice wafers and Prawn Wafers , Rice wafers was underwhelming and the prawn wafers was a clear winner 🏆 For the dessert we have the Chilli lemon desert paired with a tamarind ice cream flavour unique. Great service overall and much better than the food
