Very clean quiet park. Was there for a family reunion. The facility that was rented was very nice. Outside always clean and beautiful.
Jay W — Google review
It's a very beautiful place with lots of paths to walk or jog. I went there to fish and found a nice area and caught a speckled trout from the shore using a large soft jig. Later I caught a croaker and then a flounder. I did this on 10/16/2025. My first time fishing out here.
CRISTIAN — Google review
This park is so well maintained! The playground is completely fenced in and it has high latches so little children just can’t wonder off. The exercise facility is very nice and I love how they have workout equipment spaced out the walking trail.
Mina W — Google review
Great clean park normally there is present of police during lunch nice boat ramp ...great picnic areas and splash park for the kiddos
Rick R — Google review
Great place to walk and exercise. Boat, canoe and kayak launches. Splash pad and park for the kiddos.
Joseph B — Google review
This park is great for whatever you decide you want to do . if you got a boat or a kayak and you want to do that no problem they have a launch. If you want to take your kids to a splash pad or the playground, no problem. If you are looking to either get a walk or run completed , the surrounding area is .73 miles so you’ll have to go around four times if you’re trying to do a 5k, this park really seems to have it all. The park hours are from 5 AM to 11 PM and you can see the Golden Nugget Casino in the distance.

We had a fantastic time at the Imperial Calcasieu Museum. The definitive highlight of the visit was Rachel, the tour guide. She has such vast knowledge of the local history and great story-telling skills - she pulled us all the way in. Please do yourself a favor and stop by, the interesting local history and its delivery are fantastic. Also, huge props to the entire community for the way they care for the Sallier Oak.

It's a neat little museum with lots of cool artifacts and descriptions of the history. The guides are fun, enthusiastic, and give a great tour.

Modest but effective storytelling historical exhibit, very professional and good looking watercolor exhibit in the gallery.
A C — Google review
A small but well curated museum. The current exhibition features "Small Wonders" including a thousand year old Greek vase, a portrait of Rodin by Renoir, a scene painted by Clementine Hunter, as well as more modern works by Louisiana artists. The permanent collection highlights the history of Lake Charles. It's easy to spend 45 minutes to an hour here for a patron of the arts.

Such a beautiful & safe park to bring the littles. I absolutely love the music that of played from Disney movies as well. Definitely a playground I would have enjoyed as a kid. They have onsite restrooms.
Ofelia M — Google review
This park has an amazing playground. It’s expansive and compatible with kids of all ages. It’s naturally setup with a nautical theme with a large pirate ship sitting as a center piece. There are separate areas for the big kids and little kids. There are plenty of slides and swings and the typical stuff, but there are also some interesting home grown features that I’ve not seen anywhere else. It’s also super secure with two fences that ensure the kids aren’t going to escape. The bathrooms are surprisingly clean and there is a splash pad for the summer months. This is a jewel.
Christopher W — Google review
You really cant go wrong with this park. Its massive with an absolute abundance of things for kids of all ages to participate in. There are different sections that are age based and it includes a splash pad. What would be nice is if yhe gated park had gates to get in. The park is so large, it can be hard to keep tabs on kids. Having door gates would help alleviate the stress of misplacing your child for 8 seconds when they inevitably run out of sight.

Great experience. Wonderful food, good beers and a neat space. They have cocktails there for my non-beer drinking friends. The hurricane was one of the best we've had. Treat yourself with a double.

Good food & drinks. Nachos were pretty good. Guiness like beer was great, made by Crying Eagle. Pictures are from 2 visits here. Visit #3 - Burger was really good with the beef. French fries were better than most, but way too much salt. I can add salt, but I can't shake it off. Onion rings were also very good. Guiness like beer is still right on. Don't like standing in 2 lines to order food in one and alcohol in the other, TIME CONSUMING!! FIX IT.

Immerse yourself in the vibrant history and traditions of Mardi Gras at the Mardi Gras Museum of Imperial Calcasieu in Lake Charles. This local gem showcases an extensive collection of dazzling costumes, offering a deep dive into the festival's significance and elaborate attire. With only six rooms, this museum provides a colorful and detailed exploration of Mardi Gras traditions, leaving visitors with a newfound appreciation for this beloved celebration.
Just Amazing !!! So very neat to see alot of the Mardi Gras costumes of past kings and Queens. Learned alot about what Mardi Gras is really about. The museum curator was wonderful! A complete joy to be around and answered any question about Mardi Gras we had, he really brought everything together. A must see when visiting Lake Charles, or if your a local and just want to learn more about what Mardi Gras truely is.
ASavoy : — Google review
Can you believe that some of the gear worn at Mardi gras is twice as tall as my husband? My only criticism of this museum is that the displays are close together so it's difficult to get photos that do the costumes justice. This was a remarkable experience for us. To see the costumes up close and learn about their design and construction was an education. Imagine paying $6000. for an outfit which would be worn about 4 times. About 250 costumes are displayed of the 500 that the museum owns. There's no dust and no torn fabric evident . In one area you can try on masks etc. Such fun even for mature adults. All in all a unique, educational, and entertaining museum.
Carol O — Google review
I had no idea how vibrant the history of Mardi Gras is. The guide that walked us through was so friendly and knowledgeable. There is so much to see, so make sure you give yourself enough time to take in all the beauty of each costume. Highly recommended!

Nice mardi gras museum inside of an old historic school building. Large section of costumes to enjoy. They even have some masks and hats you can try on to take pictures. Good time on a hot summer day.
Donna M — Google review
This Mardi Gras Museum in Lake Charles is unique and has the biggest collection of costumes being showcased in the world. I was told that there are 290+ costumes on display. I found it fascinating that the mannequin that are being used to showcase the costumes are customized to reflect the real person who once wore these costumes, very neat isn't it? All the costumes are very beautiful and it allows us to travel back in time to see the various colours, materials, theme that each Krew uses annually. I also get to understand the definition of "Krew" and how the number of Krew groups determine who is the biggest Mardi Gras in the world. This museum is allows us to understand the Krews, the kings and queens, and the arts & culture of Mardi Gras.

Seafood restaurant
Steamboat Bill's on the Lake in Lake Charles is a lively seafood restaurant with a casual nautical theme. It's known for serving up fresh and flavorful Cajun seafood, especially during crawfish season when they offer plump and well-seasoned crawfish. The menu features Louisiana favorites like red beans and rice, gumbo, and pistolettes stuffed with shrimp or crawfish etouffee.
We came to Lake Charles after a day on the beach. We were starving. Of course, we wanted seafood. I am so glad we stopped in Steamboat Bill's. My youngest had the kids' plate of fried shrimp. He really enjoyed it. We all shared the appetizer of fried gator bites. They were loved by everyone at the table. My husband and I shared the small platter. It was so good. Our only complaint is that everything was fried. Maybe some grilled shrimp would have been nice in the mix. The service was great. The restaurant was clean. It was an all-around great experience. I give it two thumbs up and it is a great stop.
Jana H — Google review
We were trying to find a place to have lunch, not far off of I-10. This was definitely a winner. It's not far out of the way at all. The boudin balls were the best I've ever had so far. I got the soft crab po boy, which I liked a lot. My husband got the popcorn shrimp po boy. They were both very good! I do wish that I tried their gumbo, but maybe on the way back through!
Deirdre K — Google review
Went on a Sunday lunchtime, so they were busy. Can't fault them for that. Service was great, a little slow on the boudan balls, but over all, the experience was great. Food was absolutely delicious. Red beans and rice was perfect.
Benjamin M — Google review
Fast service and a nice atmosphere. The crawfish étouffée was wonderful, and the boiled shrimp had good spice but weren’t cleaned quite enough for my taste. My son loved the crispy chicken strips. Overall, a tasty and enjoyable visit!

Subject: Concern about food safety – foreign object in potato Below you will find the food safety concern that I attempted to address with the restaurant by sending an email to the local restaurant and to corporate. No response in more than a month so I decided to do a Google review in hopes that this will reevaluate the processes in their kitchen On, 9/13/2024, I was in Steamboat Bill's in Lake Charles an ordered a stuffed potato from your restaurant. On 9/14/2025, I became very concerned to find a penny inside of my potato after heating it at home. This is a serious food safety issue. Pennies are made mostly of zinc with a copper coating. They’re not food-safe and could leach metals when exposed to heat, especially if damaged or corroded. Since the penny was in direct contact with the potato, the potato was not safe for me to eat. Not only is this unsanitary, but microwaving metal could have damaged my microwave and posed a fire risk. I bring this to your attention so that steps can be taken with your kitchen staff and supplier to prevent this from happening again. I would also like to know what your restaurant intends to do to address this situation. Thank you,
Artish F — Google review
As full time travelers we stumbled on Steamboat Bild a few years ago . Now whenever we pass this way we have to stop in for some Gumbo, Etoufee, or boiled shrimp. The food never disappoints. Service was lacking this trip but just your typical gossiping cashier, and inattentive table staff. All in all a great place for a solid Cajun food.
Genie H — Google review
The food is amazing! The crawfish po-boy was off the chain! The boiled shrimp is hood and now they have dungeons crabs that are really good as well!!! You pay before you sit which you dont have to be waited on.
Robert L — Google review
Always a great experience at Steamboat! I had the captains platter. 2 people can literally eat off that one plate. Oh, and don’t forget your watermelon margarita. They are the bomb. Might I add the pistolettes. (I think that’s how you spell them) you can never go wrong with those. Make sure you try a shrimp and try the crawfish one as well.

Sandwich shop
Restaurant
Darrell's is a bustling bar and grill that is a favorite among sports fans, known for its hefty po' boys and sandwiches. The signature dish to try here is the Darrell's special, which includes ham, turkey, roast beef, and gravy served on freshly baked bread with extra gravy on the side. Additionally, visitors can enjoy delicious plate-lunches at B&O Grocery or indulge in boiled crawfish at Seafood Palace or Steamboat Bills on the Lake.
Alright. Here’s one to keep on your map and radar! Darrell’s is awesome. The special was outstanding and will leave a memory!! If you haven’t been here you need to go! I’m betting the locals frequent this place. Give it a try!! Sorry. I wish I would’ve got an image of the sandwich for you. Btw, the service was as exceptional as the food! I will return when I’m back in town.
Damac T — Google review
We came here thinking this place was known for its food. The poboys are very good but this is a sports bar. If you don’t mind college guys yelling at the bar homophobic comments while you’re eating then this place is fine. I recommend the spicy sausage poboy. I wish they would offer homemade sides instead of bagged chips. At least offer made in Louisiana chips like Zapps.
Miguel Z — Google review
It’s a sports bar yes…but we went during quiet time I guess. Got in, ate, and left. The poboys were absolutely delish as always and the bread is chefs kiss!!
Dondria B — Google review
Been coming to Darrell’s for over 20 years. Shrimp PoBoy now has less shrimp (use to be loaded with shrimp that would fall out) with excessive mayo. Roll was good, but that’s about it. Very disappointing. Not worth making the extra effort (I drove from out of town) for this once exceptional sandwich (why pay more for less). Was ordering PoBoy to go and told to order it at the bar. The person who took the order was RUDE, pushy and she had an attitude. That equated to a big fat ZERO of a tip. Don’t waste your time ordering a Shrimp PoBoy from Darrell’s…they’ve lost the recipe.
Bubba C — Google review
Always listen to the locals. This place was their reccomendation for best Poboys in Lake Charles. Got the special - it was great.
Ryan T — Google review
The food can definitely be hit or miss. My office orders take out almost every Friday and you never know what you’re going to get. Last Friday the food was AMAZING. It’s the best when the bread is super buttery and crispy. We ordered lunch today and it was good, but definitely not as good as last week. I feel like just the fact that we eat lunch here almost weekly should say enough though 😅 if you’re debating on trying it, just do it!
Stephanie K — Google review
I heard this place was really good. Pulled up was told if I want a to go order I had to go to the bar, stood there 10 minutes and even asked for a menu 5 times and nothing. The person that told me to go to the bar even came over and still nothing. I went to the other side of the bar to see if maybe I could attract someone’s attention still nothing at the 16th minute I just left. Service is terrible and to be completely ignored is crazy not to mention everyone was White and here I am a black lady trying to by food!!!! Seriously I will be contacting a lawyer and the BBB because I have it all on video time stamped and before you ask yes I made eye contact with 4 different workers and on the video you hear me saying excuse me 5 times and asking for a menu 3 times!! Just sad that we treat people this way!!!!
Tosha M — Google review
6 months later (1 year later now. And we are still talking about this place..) Im still talking about how awful the Shrimp-Po-Boy was here. Boiled Shrimp on a bun. No French fries, just bad PoBoys and chips....how is this place famous?! How xan anyone in Louisiana say this places makes a good PoBoy...let's pretend they are good....they serve bagged chips? Is this a food truck? No, it's a restaurant...where are the fries, fried potatoes, fried pickles, onion rings....this place is total crap !

My wife and I came here for our anniversary and expected to spend a nice chunk of change so nothing caught us by surprise. Drink was sweet tea and it was great Food: Appetizer: bacon wrapped shrimp First course: Lobster bisque Main: I got the 14oz boneless wagyu ribeye ( it was amazing and worth every penny of the 115$ the flavor was rich and deep) My wife got the 20oz bone in ribeye ( it was light tasting and delicious) Sides: crawfish mac and cheese and fully loaded mashed potatoes. The portions on the sides are gigantic which is really nice. Something sweet: we got the chocolate lava cake ( amazing and stuffed with chocolate) Our waiter was Eli Darbonne and he’s was super friendly, knowledgeable, and over all a fantastic waiter. Our bill was 318$ and worth every penny for an amazing anniversary dinner!

Everything was amazing. Just so you know, the dishes are super big. I was sharing with my husband and we couldn’t finish them, not even room for dessert. Also you need reservations but you can always enjoy the food at the bar lime we did.

We came to spend 4th of July weekend in the hotel and decided to give it a try; we had a great dining experience. The vibe is cozy and intimate and the atmosphere is relaxing. From the bread basket to the dessert, everything was exquisite. Our group of 5 have a great time and would definitely visit again when around Lake Charles.
Mariela R — Google review
Had a group of 16 guys last night. Service and timing were excellent. Unfortunately the cooking staff had a terrible night. A few guys in our party who had eaten here before were excited to share their past experiences. The food was very bland, and the steaks were unfinishable. Pork belly burnt ends were 90% fat, very gross. Lambchops tasted like hospital food. This was definitely not worth the money we spent. Unlikely to go back and definitely not recommending.
Marvin M — Google review
I’ve been a loyal patron of this restaurant, having dined here at least five times over the past 3 months. My first visit left me thoroughly impressed with both the exceptional service and food quality, which is why I continued to return. Unfortunately, my most recent experience was deeply disappointing and has made me reconsider future visits. I ordered the King Crab legs and a beef filet—two dishes that should showcase a restaurant of this caliber. Both fell short of expectations. The crab legs were oversalted, served in a surprisingly small portion, and lacked the careful preparation I’d come to expect. The beef filet, while cooked to the correct temperature, was inexplicably dry and tough. I ended up leaving half the steak uneaten. The problems didn’t end there. I requested my side of potatoes au gratin to be packed to go, but the container wasn’t properly sealed. By the time I arrived home, the cheese and butter had completely leaked out, rendering the dish inedible and requiring me to throw it away. For a $200 dinner, this experience was unacceptable. What was once a reliable favorite has clearly experienced a decline in quality and attention to detail. Unless significant improvements are made, I won’t be returning.

I brought my wife to embers for our anniversary and it went far beyond my expectations. They are not a cheap restaurant but you can go in knowing this by their websites menu I was able to get an idea what I would be spending. I bought a New York Strip 14oz prime Steak and it is the best steak I have ever eaten and I did not get a topping for my steak just steak and I was so impressed. I also got a side of Au Gratin potatoes. I got also a bottle of red wine. They were both amazing. For two first courses, two main courses, two sides for main course, a bottle of red wine and even dessert. We spent $330. You truly could go cheaper with this place because we weren’t able to finish but less than half of our main course side and we took home our dessert because we were so dang full we could barely walk. You could do without the main course side or without the first course which were only $15 each. But they are worth the price even my salad was amazing extremely fresh. The atmosphere of this restaurant is great not even close to over crowded you call to reserve if you have to wait a couple minutes the have very nice couches with a fire place to to relax in. We waited less than 5 minutes and we arrived 25 minutes early to our reservation. Amazing restaurant. If you want to wow the wife or husband this is the place to go.

Our whole dining experience was amazing! The food was perfect, Jacob, our waiter was exceptional and very knowledgeable of the menu! The hostesses had a beautiful attitude and was prompt in our seating! We will definitely be back! Thank you for making our night one to remember! 5 stars, for sure!

Embers is a visually appealing restaurant with very good service and a beautiful atmosphere. The food was certainly tasty, but honestly, it didn't blow me away for the price point. It’s an expensive night out, and while everything was fine, I expected a bit more wow factor to match the cost.

Seafood restaurant
Seafood Palace in Lake Charles is a laid-back restaurant offering a variety of seafood options and fried dishes like crab, gumbo, and po' boys. The casual and homey atmosphere makes it the perfect spot to satisfy your Cajun cravings. From boiled crawfish with corn and potatoes to boudin balls and pistolettes filled with seafood, the menu is filled with culinary delights. It's a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, known for its delicious crawfish boil.
My dad and stepmother took me out to eat lunch. A male member of the staff met us at the door and held it open for us as my dad is disabled. He seated us right away. When I walked in, I noticed the people first. There were a few open tables, but they have ample seating. The customers were eating, talking, and smiling. Our server came and took our drink orders but already knew what my mom and step-mom wanted. She gave us enough time to decide what we wanted and took our order. Our food came out timely, and the wait time was not long. The crabs I ordered were very full and heavy. My dad had the fried fish and oysters. We were checked on for drink refills appropriately. The atmosphere with the cajun music was nice. The seating was arranged where we did not feel crammed in there either. All of their wait-staff were smiling and kind. Some were laughing but also observant of customers' needs. I will surely return.

Seafood Palace offers a delightful dining experience with perfectly cooked dishes. Our server, Sarah, was friendly and attentive. However, a reminder about their bottled sodas policy (no refills) would be helpful. The boudin balls appetizer was a highlight, seasoned to perfection. The seafood platter and fried shrimp/fish plate were both delicious, making for an overall enjoyable meal. Highly recommended for seafood lovers!

J J — Google review
I ate lunch at the Seafood Palace in Lake Charles, Louisiana on Enterprise Boulevard on Oct. 17, 2025: ate my friend's recommendations: chicken and sausage gumbo and fried catfish filet! Both were fantastic: catfish was very light and not fishy at all - beautiful--perfectly crispy with cornmeal coating! (5 out of 5) Chicken and sausage gumbo was so flavorful: great depth of flavor from home-made roux with identifiable large portions of chicken and sausage (not spicy hot) and I loved it. (5 out of 5-if I could double this score, I would, 10 out of 5--I would reorder this in a heart beat). I got adventurous and strayed from my friend's recommendation: stuffed shrimp--I love shrimp, but the flavor combinations were odd for my palate (1 out of 5). Service was so delightful with Ms. Sarah, my service provider. You are wonderful, Ms. Sarah (Rating 10 out of 5--you did great, Ms. Sarah, so kind and great at hospitality). Bathroom was so clean. (Rating 10 out of 5-great job on cleanliness). Overall, Seafood Palace is a fantastic seafood restaurant: great cajun flavors and perfect for me! Also, loved that they serve Coca-cola in the bottle or over ice-really enjoyed Coke from the bottle.

This was AMAZING. You have to go here! I had the best oyster poboy I have eaten in years. Our friend had a HUGE half platter of crabs....the way crabs should be. They were full of meat ... just incredible. And for a seafood place, they make a melt-in-your-mouth chicken fried steak. My daughter ATE IT ALL! the beer is cold, the seafood is fresh and cooked to perfection and the staff is soooo friendly. I caught one off-guard with my photo and she danced for the Pic. Sweet and fun! I would give them 10 stars if I could!!!

I ordered 6 fried blue crabs and a small seafood platter with fried okra. The fried crab was good (4/5). The fried seafood platter was good. The French fries were crispy. The fried fish was delicious. The only things I didn't like were the stuffed crab and fried oysters. The atmosphere and service here are phenomenal (5/5). Maggie was nice on the phone and at the cashier when I was checking out. My waiter, Alis, was super kind and friendly, taking care of me at the table. Overall experience: 4.5/5 stars

Guests praise the impeccable service and frequent live music events at this culinary gem.
I'm not sure why it took me so long to visit this place. The food was excellent, and the service was absolutely amazing. Loved the concert posters and murals that lined the walls. My wife had the Neptuna Melt on jalapeño bread, and it was phenomenal. I enjoyed the Refish Apollo. This dish was so good that it made me want to kick my mother in law. Speaking of her, she had the Chicken Ella.

Amazing place with great atmosphere and service. The food was prepared perfectly and the redfish is one of my favorites. If you have a group that wants American and Cajun, this is a must stop for you.

Had a great time! Visited during brunch on a Sunday and had the John Lennon, Moon Taxi, Spinach & Artichoke Dip, and Caesar Salad w/ Tuna! Our server was friendly, timely, and accurate (I can’t remember her name, but it’s not because she didn’t tell us - we just had some really good drinks)!! The hostess was pretty rude at first though. Totally ignored my thanks after she sat us down, making us feel like we were inconveniencing her by being there. Might be because my dining companion asked her if we could sit at a booth that hadn’t been cleaned yet. Didn’t seem visibly dirty from our standpoint though. Other than that, I have no complaints. Will definitely be visiting again; but I really hope we don’t see that specific hostess, or that she’s having a better day next time.

I ate the shrimp and avocado. I loved the fried shrimp and avocado combo in the sauce, but flavor was lacking overall so it got bland quickly! I had this as my meal rather than appetizer. Clean bathrooms and nice service

The food and service were all great and the prices were very fair for the amount of food you get.

I love the atmosphere here. The posters and paintings along the brick wall added character. I took my daughter for lunch here while we were in town and enjoyed it. The fried pickles are THE BEST. The spinach dip was creamy but was not my favorite. We also had one of their sandwiches and it was good.

My husband and I were in town for a wedding and wanted a cool spot for lunch - Luna was it! The crawfish-stuffed fried avocado was absolutely delicious. Great cocktails, priced well. We got the Salmon Cassidy and Redfish Ian with fries and fried green beans, all was very tasty. Loved all of the band/concert posters (someone's lifetime collection? A community effort? There were so many!), it made for a unique vibe.
