Mission San Juan Capistrano, a landmark Spanish mission founded in 1776, is a must-visit for anyone interested in California's rich history. With historic exhibits, cultural events, and a gift shop, the site welcomes over 350,000 visitors annually. The mission was originally founded by Saint Junipero Serra and features a museum, gift shop, cafe, and an iconic bell wall that is still rung daily.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Mission at San Juan Capistrano The Mission at San Juan Capistrano is hands-down one of the most romantic venues in California. Its history and architecture bring so much character to every wedding. The aged stone walls, grand arches, and blooming gardens are a photographer’s dream. There’s a sense of timeless beauty here that makes every couple’s gallery feel both historic and personal. It’s the kind of place where love stories become art. ✨ If you’re drawn to the beauty of San Juan Capistrano, I’d be honored to capture your wedding in such an extraordinary setting.

Alright California!! This Place is Cali Gold. The Historic Value of this place is Second to None. There is so Much History in its relationship to the Development of California. The grounds are very very well kept and the Guided tour is a must to get the most out of this Mission. Visit the Chapel on sight and the Ruins of the Original Chapel. Wow it's incredible. Great for Photos, a Date Day, and exploring for the whole family. Don't miss it. It's incredible and a must see for everyone!

We had the opportunity to photograph S & K's first look at Mission San Juan Capistrano, and it was truly a dream setting for capturing timeless portraits. From the soft stone textures to the iconic arches and bell wall, every corner of the Mission offered a stunning visual backdrop. The light was beautiful throughout the day, filtered, warm, and natural, ideal for both candid and editorial shots. There’s a peaceful, historic charm to the space that elevated the emotional energy of the first look, creating a moment that felt private, sacred, and cinematic. We would highly recommend the Mission to couples looking for a location that combines California history, natural beauty, and elegant architecture. It’s a gem for storytelling. — Anastasia

Mission San Juan Capistrano is one of my favorite places to visit because it holds a lot of fond memories for me. There have been many changes to the mission - especially after the pandemic. The East Gate is no longer open. You have to go through the tour to get into the original chapel. This was the side entrance we used to enter through when we went to Sunday morning Mass as a family. I love that the original Serra Chapel is still intact so visitors can marvel at the intricate details of the altar, handpainted walls, wooden pews, and the St. Peregrine Chapel. The grounds are also well-maintained and I especially love every bit of Mission San Juan Capistrano. Some of the newer things I liked was how they cleaned up the fountain and added koi fish. Overall, I love MSJC and how much of its history is preserved to this day. It’s a beautiful site to visit and to pray. I also always end my visits with a trip to their gift shop. The ladies who work there are wonderful.

What a beautiful, well maintained mission! Although there is now a fee to enter, it’s well worth the price. You can spend an hour or a day just walking the gardens and visiting the chapel. At the exit, there is a church store fulled with books, cards, collectibles, and other artifacts. It’s a fun outing! We are glad we took the time to visit!

This is such a beautiful mission. My kids had a fun time walking/running around and exploring. We were on vacation for my son’s Birthday and they gave us a discounted price because of that ❤️ Some of the areas were not easily accessible with our stroller - so my husband and I had to lift the stroller and carry it up the stairs to get around to the area on the path (the walkway was blocked due to set up for an event). Thankfully we could do that. We probably spent about 2 hours here. I do want to revisit with my kids and see the things we didn’t spend much time looking at. There is plenty of parking around - outside you just have to drive around to find it.

This is a beautiful and well taken care of Mission. Lots of stories told here about the indigenous people and how this Mission was successful and created things for trade. This place takes you back in time and explains the story of the swallow. I live in the area now and bring friends here to enjoy the beauty!
Regina B — Google review
From the moment you walk, it exudes history. The landscaping throughout is lively and inspiring. Definitely gave me some ideas for my outdoor garden. Dog friendly, except inside exhibits. Preservation is top notch. Very clean grounds and not as packed as I expected it to be since it was Father's Day. Free audio guides available too! You learn a lot about history. I really enjoyed the church! It was jaw dropping.

During my recent visit to the Los Rios Historic District in San Juan Capistrano, I was thoroughly enchanted by its rich history and picturesque charm. As California's oldest continually occupied neighborhood, dating back to 1794, the district offers a unique glimpse into the past. Strolling along the tree-lined Los Rios Street, I admired the beautifully preserved adobe homes, many of which have been transformed into delightful cafes, art galleries, and boutique shops. The vibrant gardens and rustic architecture create a serene and inviting atmosphere. A highlight of my visit was dining at the Ramos House Cafe, where I enjoyed a delectable brunch in a quaint setting. The district's proximity to the train station makes it easily accessible, and its blend of history, culture, and community spirit makes it a must-visit destination. I wholeheartedly give the Los Rios Historic District a five-star rating for its exceptional preservation and enchanting ambiance. Get there early to ensure parking!

This area is extremely relaxing place to walk around, shop the store and enjoy the food. I came on September 8 2025 on a Monday and this area was not crowded. We walked over to the mission which is closed on Mondays. Walking on Los Rios St is so cool. There are wonderful gift shops and restaurants. Coffee lovers there is a coffeehouse and a tea house for the tea enthusiast. I recommend trying the bourbon street vanilla ☕️ tea! I enjoyed the great gift shops.

In a word: Magical! Such an awesome historic treasure. I enjoy the street, and surrounding locations. The quaint shops! So many places to go, and things to see! Located in my neck of the woods, Orange County, California.
Turban M — Google review
There is loads to see and do here. We parked at River Ranch Marketplace (but there are loads of other options) 2 dollars an hour. At the mall there are a variety of eating establishments and some nice niche shops- cheque book required! As quite pricey in one or two. We strolled across the railway track to Los Rios historic district. There are 3 or 4 really lovely little gifts and arts and crafts shops. Some nice little bargains and unusual hummingbird feeders. Reasonable prices. A few steps away was the main high street that has a fantastic antique barn. Also, the mission. Will definitely return again. You can take the train to San Juan Capistrano and easily walk around.

What a charming little site!! Los Rios Historic District is located in the beautiful city of San Juan Capistrano and Los Rios is known to be one of the oldest neighborhoods in the state of California! Just behind the train tracks is the Los Rios Historic District. You can get here by train (Metrolink stops right at this site), by bike, by feet, or by car. There are plenty of paid parking across the tracks or free street parking along Camino Capistrano. Here you’ll find: - Old Mr. Tree (circa 1800) - The Tea House on Los Rios - Ramos House Cafe - And other businesses! The street is not paved so wear comfortable shoes when walking here. Overall, a picturesque spot for the Spring and Summer months!

Outdoor Activities
Doheny State Beach is a charming beachfront park situated near the scenic San Juan Bay, managed by the State of California. Accessible via Dana Point Harbor Drive and Park Lantern, it features two distinct public beach areas divided by the picturesque San Juan Creek. The beach offers opportunities for swimming, beginner surfing, and stand-up paddleboarding with gentle waves from the nearby bay.
This is such a beautiful beach, and park. Great camping amenities. My favorite thing about it is the covered picnic areas with grills, and fire pits. I attend 12 steps meetings here and absolutely love the energy with the ocean in view, it's a wonderful location to focus on recovery.

We had such a wonderful time at Doheny State Beach! We came with our 3-year-old son and it was the perfect spot for a family day. The beach is clean, safe, and easy to access. The waves near the shore are gentle, which made it great for little ones to splash and play without us worrying. There are plenty of picnic areas with shade, which made snack time and breaks really comfortable. Our son loved running around in the sand and watching the surfers further out in the water. The bathrooms were well-kept and convenient to get to, which is always a huge plus with a toddler. We also appreciated the family-friendly atmosphere—lots of other kids and families enjoying the day, but it never felt overcrowded. It’s such a relaxed environment, and parking was simple too. We’ll definitely be coming back. Doheny State Beach is now one of our go-to spots for a safe, fun, and stress-free beach day with our little one! 🌊☀️👶

We stopped there during our morning walk to the beach, and while used to the coastline beaches, we really enjoyed our time here. Besides being conveniently located within Dana point, it has a decent surf spot, highly frequented though and a few good amenities (picnic area, toilets…) - there is also a large paid parking in case you drive down there.
Guillaume B — Google review
Beautiful beach, clean, safe and easily accessible. The waves are not too strong and there are some volley ball courts on the smaller side of the beach. Picnic tables are on the lawn side. Great spot!
Maud C — Google review
There is a lot to love about this beach. Super clean restrooms, easy access to the cafe, loads of picnic tables and bbq pits, and more. We absolutely loved our time here and will be coming back. The only knock is the beach is very rocky if you plan to get into the water you need booties.

Beautiful clean place. The staff here is on the money when it comes to keeping the areas maintained along with the people. No craziness here. Everyone kept to themselves and maintained a great environment for everyone

Spent the night in my van at the campground. I had a doctors appointment in Laguna and instead of driving home, hour and a half, I spent the night and metal detected. I had a front row, closest to the water, about $75. Worth every penny. I managed to get about $3 back metal detecting 😂😂 _/🚶🏽.

Fine dining restaurant
Rancho Capistrano Winery is a casual restaurant with a spacious patio and fireplace, offering a variety of comfort foods along with beer and wine. San Juan Capistrano provides various lodging options, from cozy bed and breakfasts to luxurious resorts like the Inn at the Mission San Juan Capistrano. The winery is an ideal place for any occasion, whether it's a day out with friends or family celebration.
We booked the winery for a wedding rehearsal luncheon. We are in a different state and Michele very responsive. Communication was frequent and easy. She went the extra mile to answer all our questions and concerns. Our head server Grace and wait staff were kind and professional. Food was exceptional and the table was impeccable and beautifully decorated. Thank you Rancho Capistrano Winery for a memorable event.

This was my first time here and it was impressive. It was busy but no wait time if you made a reservation. Not too crowded to sit and enjoy your time for drinking and chatting. We all had a great time after dinner we moved to have some more drinks at the bar.
Praew K — Google review
We had been so curious about this place every time walking by so we finally did come for dinner. We asked our waiter a ton of questions about their wines and membership. Sam was so patient and answered them. We ordered the Maverick bottle and really enjoyed it with our dinner. In general, a restaurant would mark up 100% or more of whatever wines they sale, but their wines pricing on the menu is about 15% more than a member price. Thats pretty good bang for bucks. Let talk about food. Overall is pretty good. 1. Deconstructed Burrata Caprese: I didnt find any basils in the sun-dried tomato pesto so it was a disappointment. However, the dish was good. 2. Tropical Macadamia Mahi was very good. The fish was cooked perfectly, moist and fresh. The wild rice was ok. 3. RCW cow boy was very good. The ribeye was great quality and cooked perfectly. What really won us over was their accommodation. We were not demanding by any means but we were goofed up something and they were so understanding and accommodating the matter. We definitely come back. Thanks for everything.

My bf and I recently moved to SJ and have loved trying out the restaurants in the area. RCW is easily one of our top favorites. The service is always top tier. Joe is THE guy. He always comes thru with the best recommendations and conversation. Incredible food and wine options. Don't skip the butter cake.

Really great winery in the heart of San Juan Capistrano. Came here for a wine and mimosas flight. So refreshing on hot summer day. They are pet friendly which is a plus.

Dined here for a friend’s birthday. The food was great, server was OK, and ambience was lovely. However, Pedro (not sure if he was a food runner, busser, or something else) but he was incredibly warm and noticeably more attentive- he even took some great photos for us. He was great and made our experience all the better!
Alpha P — Google review
This review is LONG overdue. I have loved RCW for years, but just recently returned to the wine club membership program. I go there at least once a week, sometimes just with my dog (very dog friendly) sometimes with a friend. The food is fantastic, the service is friendly and the wines are fantastic, particularly for a small private winery! And a HUGE selection! Happy hour is very reasonable, and great extras for wine club members. The setting is beautiful, just like you would find at a winery out in the country. They have been such a great addition to our new downtown; I daresay almost the anchor downtown (aside from the Mission, of course). They get a lot of tourists being right across from the train station, but they take super special care of we locals, too. I feel that's "My Place" downtown.
Ruthanna B — Google review
I can’t give enough praise to Rancho Capistrano Winery. Our waiter, Casey, was very impressive. His wine recommendation was spot on and the food, OMG! Best meal I have had in long time. My salmon was cooked perfectly and my friend’s wagu steak was great! The restaurant had a great vibe with live music.

Tea house
Restaurant
The Tea House On Los Rios is a charming flower-covered cafe located in San Juan Capistrano, known for its savory fare including roast chicken, specialty teas, and delightful desserts. The cafe's quaint and genteel setting makes it a perfect spot to relax during the holiday season.
One of my all-time favorite destinations is the delightful Afternoon Tea Place! Nestled in the charming historical area of San Juan Capistrano, this spot exudes a warm, inviting atmosphere that’s perfect for enjoying a lovely day out with my girlfriends. Our server, who I truly wish I could recall by name (I think it might be Ivy!), was absolutely wonderful—she was not only friendly but also incredibly accommodating, making sure that our experience was memorable. I always indulge in their signature The Mission Tea, which features an exquisite assortment of petite sandwiches and an array of delectable pastries. Each bite is a true delight, showcasing the kitchen’s commitment to quality and flavor. The food is simply fantastic, and the overall experience is nothing short of enchanting!

Wow this is a really neat spot for a good meal and amazing tea service. The staff were super friendly and helpful and added to the great experience. The tea experiences are very nice with a huge selection of teas to choose from and plenty of caffeine free options which was great. The scone is amazing and the finger sandwiches were really tasty. For the tea experience it actually fills you up more than expected. Lovely atmosphere and very cool vibe for a date, family time or just solo relaxing. I recommend reservations and the quiche Lorraine.

From the hostess to the waitress to the person who cleaned our table….. I have nothing but good things to say to about them. The grounds are so beautiful and whimsical. No matter where you look you find something unique about this restaurant. We came on Monday for lunch. Leslie was our server and she was magnificent!!! The food was amazing! I could sit here for hours and hours. You can shop all of the robust teas and they make a few items fresh daily. Items such as the baked buttermilk scones and early California cream. I had the triple crown (chef kiss💋). When they say it is “Fresh Atlantic salmon, season and grilled to protection” they are not kidding! It was fresh seasoned and grilled to protection. There is parking available.
Marian G — Google review
Oh my goodness the drive in was beautiful, the grounds are so pretty and really set the stage for this perfect, magical big tea house. The hostess was so sweet. I love how we were asked out seating preference not just told where we were going to sit. Our server was very knowledgeable of the menu and selections / suggestions. I appreciated the time she took with us. The food was so delicate delicious. Above what I anticipated from the reviews. Love the seasonal menu options. I loved all the hidden little photo opportunities. I rate this a five star all around! Happy 13th Birthday to my sweet girl.
Mandy O — Google review
Wonderful tea house! So pretty and with a beautiful little garden. We did the tea experience, and comes with a LOT of food. Favorite by far was the currant scones and the jalapeno corn soup, which apparently isn't served too often but it's amazing! They take their time bringing out the courses so u don't feel rushed and, can enjoy your company. I had the peach apricot tea which I recommend if you want something light and fruity for summer. Our server Brigitte was lovely. Very kind, friendly, always had a smile, attentive, and made our experience all the more pleasurable. Will definitely be back to visit again the next time I'm in California to visit family.
Kristi — Google review
Beautiful setting for a special lunch! High tea options were excellent if a bit pricey. Be prepared to spend $50 or more per person no matter what you order. I would not recommend this place for children under 10 years old. Service was excellent 👌
Lisa C — Google review
Love the vibe and cozy environment! Perfect spot for birthdays, small gatherings, or casual meetings. The tea tastes amazing, and the small bites are delicious, not super filling, but just enough to enjoy with friends.
TiNa — Google review
Can’t be the only one who saw this place trending on TikTok and had to check it out 💅✨ We made the trip and went all in with their tea sets — since we came from a bit far, we didn’t want to miss the full experience. Each set came with: 🥐 A selection of pastries 🥗 A small salad 🍾 Two drinks (you can choose champagne or juice) 🍵 And of course, tea! My friend went with a Japanese tea, and I chose their popular Peach Apricot blend — so good and lightly sweet 🍑🍵 The whole vibe is cozy, charming, and just felt like we were in a storybook cottage. Definitely worth the visit if you love tea, cute moments, and a little escape from the usual

Mexican restaurant
El Adobe de Capistrano is a Mexican eatery located in a historical landmark dating back to 1797. It's one of the oldest operating restaurants in Orange County, opening its doors in 1948. The restaurant gained fame when President Richard Nixon frequented it during his stay at his nearby San Clemente residence, ultimately influencing the switch to a full Mexican menu.
This was a nice Mexican Restaurant. Great Margaritas, tasty Watermelon Margaritas. Table side Guacamole was delicious it was made to order mild or hot whatever is your preference. The Shrimp Cocktail was delicious! Lobster tacos were also very filling and a good size if you are looking for a nice filling lunch meal. This was great place can’t wait to go back and try more dishes!

El Adobe is a favorite in our family. I eat here 2-3x a month sometimes more with family and friends! Christian is our favorite waiter and is like family! Every meal is special because the entire staff works so hard to make the food taste so good, the service is amazing and we always love to sit in the bar area because we love the team, big fireplace and patio! Highly recommend for authentic food, exceptional service and a cozy atmosphere. Even held graduation and birthday parties here! They always go above and beyond!

I love the El Adobe Mexican restaurant so much and that's where my parents were married on August 18th, 1990 and it's refreshing their old memories of their love and romance. The mariachi band was truly amazing, especially for the successful wedding of my wonderful sister Marina and husband Wesley.

We had the most wonderful Wedding for our daughter at El Adobe.  From our first encounter with Sianna and Daniel on selecting a date to the day of our event, they were very helpful in guiding us through every detail. So patient with us and answered every question in a timely way. The staff is excellent, the server's were friendly efficient and engaged with our guests the night of our event. I truly did not need to ask for anything, they seemed to see and know what everyone needed. Our guest's raved about the food,  the comment most said, was so refreshing not to have "typical wedding food" and everyone had options, they even accommodated our child guests with choice of children's meals. The use of the delightful Casita was icing on the cake, our bride was able to dress and prepare for her day in this delightful setting, and it made for  wonderful pictures too! The patio setting for their ceremony, perfect for our vision of intimate family and friends.  Cocktail hour followed right there on the patio, making the transition seamless. The setting encourages mingling, casual yet elegant feel makes for the perfect venue. We highly recommend El Adobe for your wedding or event !!! Completely satisfied! Grateful and genuinely impressed with everyone on staff at El Adobe. Lynn Kolodziej Very happy mother of the bride.

American restaurant
Trevor's at the Tracks is a charming indoor-outdoor restaurant located in an 1894 railway depot, offering upscale New American cuisine and drinks. The restaurant has historical significance as it showcases the train stop between San Juan Capistrano and San Diego. With a shaded patio surrounded by potted plants and climbing vines, it's an iconic spot for brunch and lunch.
This is a great place to chill with live music, good drinks and excellent food. The only (and not major) issue with the ambiance is the closeness of the tables on the patio. If you are next to a loud group - like some who don’t live here and ride the train from Santa Ana etc - it can be noisy. The food is actually outstanding. See attached pics.
Doug B — Google review
Trevor’s at the Tracks is a true gem in the heart of San Juan Capistrano. The location is unbeatable—set right next to the train station, making it a perfect spot for people watching and soaking in the charming energy of the town. We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed watching the trains roll in and out while people came and went. It added a lively, nostalgic atmosphere to our meal. We ordered the Mac & Cheese with Chicken Parmesan and the Spicy Pasta. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. The Mac & Cheese is rich and decadent—definitely a comfort food indulgence, and more than my mom could finish. The Spicy Pasta brought the perfect amount of heat without being overwhelming. Loved the fresh mushrooms, tomatoes and spinach in the dish. The service was top-notch. Friendly, attentive staff made us feel welcome from the moment we sat down. Trevor’s is clearly set up to accommodate everything from casual lunches to larger gatherings, and the ambiance is versatile enough for any occasion. Whether you're a local or just visiting San Juan Capistrano, Trevor’s at the Tracks is a must-visit spot.

First visit, this is a great, very different location, with a train stopping literally next door. The “Pretty Bird Chicken Sandwich” ($24) was very good, served with very good fries and spicy ketchup. The food was served hot, in a very reasonable time. The “English Sticky Toffee Pudding Cake ($14), was just OK. I’ve had this dessert in England and this was a poor try at it, although it did taste OK. The service was good, paid city parking lot ($2 / hr), but the total experience was quite dear, not someplace to visit regularly. Recommended.

First timer to Trevor's at the Tracks. We sat in the patio to hear the live music which was wonderful. Patio has retrackable covers and umbrellas to block direct sunlight. We had a cab bottle from their CA wine list. I was unfamiliar with any labels but tastes were offered and tried two and chose one. Our entrees were the brussel sprout starter and the grilled salmon with veg chopped hash and cauliflower puree. Both were Amazing and the cab went surprisingly well with flavors. We had the starter served with the entree to give flavor balance, it worked! Service was efficient and wine glasses were refilled by service when observed low. We met Trevor the owner just by hapchance not that we knew him but recognized him from restaurant's good reputation. He is a humble owner and was working doing meanial staff jobs like sweeping and moving umbrellas. No arrogance here. Perfectly comfortable dining experience and highly recommended! *****

Such a quaint area and ambiance. I recommend it as a cool experience to all. The flatbread I had was yummy. My friend has the short rib Bahn mi. I had the spicy Sicilian flatbread and it was great, the only comment I have is that one side of it was darkened crispy crust and the other side was perfectly cooked. Other than that it was a great experience.
Shideh B — Google review
The food was absolutely amazing here! We tried the karate chip chicken salad and a chicken sandwich, along with the tropical cobbler for desserts. There was a moderate to long wait probably because it was a Labor Day weekend, but it was absolutely worth it! They were even kind enough to serve a patty for our dog! Adding to the ambiance was the live music that just made the experience even better. We'll certainly be visiting this place again!

Brought my dad on a walk around the area, I've been here before with my friend and brought him the next day. He liked the live music and we went here almost everyday for the vibes, food wasn't too bad- selectively I'd go for the flatbread (really liked the chicken pesto&bbq chicken) and service was great. Dad labs the taco beer 3 days in a row! So this is our go to now Everytime he comes back to Cali, my parents likes this place. Worth the buck for the atmosphere and overall experience.

American restaurant
Breakfast restaurant
Nestled in the Los Rios Historic District, Ramos House Cafe offers a unique dining experience that takes you back to old times. The owners reside in the house, growing herbs in the garden and churning ice cream by hand. With a menu that changes daily based on fresh ingredients, this cafe specializes in contemporary American cuisine with a southern twist. The rustic patio overlooks train tracks and is perfect for enjoying their decadent Southern-style brunches and massive Bloody Marys.
I saw this place when I took the train. Such a cute place in a small historic city! Food is so delicious; and the cocktails are exceptional. They had the brunch menu when we were there. It’s so worth the money. Their service is great and very friendly. Must try!!!!

Gorgeous, not too touristy, beautiful atmosphere in a mature garden and large trees for shade. I sat on the balcony which was nice for watching the world go by. Reasonable prices, decent portions, what more can you ask for.

What a charming little place! I really love the cozy atmosphere here. They have a great variety of menus, and everything looks and sounds so delicious. It's hard to believe we can't try it all in one trip! 😂😂😂 Our server, Ally, was super friendly and really helpful. I can't wait to come back and sample more of the tasty options on the menu!

All for the aesthetics and the gram. Beautiful plating but terrible food. Most of the dishes are dry and lack flavor. The only decent dish was smoked salmon since probably not made by their kitchen. Cocktails are creative but flavourless. Waitress staff and atmosphere are amazing tho! Cool experience but would not go back. So many better restaurants next door

I do not venture out to OC but after dining here today for brunch I guarantee that this will not be my last time here. As many familiar with my reviews know im one for quaint mom and pop homestyle food and experiences. Ramos House delivered on so many key features I look for when choosing a great option not only for dining but as a disabled diner at that. To start off I love that this brunch spots is ADA accessible. The resturant is leveled and provides enough space for those of us who use mobility aides such as canes, wheelchairs, scooters and so forth. Tables are leveled and spaced out enough to accommodate you and your parties comfortably. I feel funny commenting on the cute aestetics of the restroom, however the vintage restroom is a single stall, spacious restroom that provides enough space for those mobility aides. We dined on a Saturday that was offering a 2 course brunch menu. Please keep in mind this kitchen is in a small old home so unfortunately you will not be able to make substitutions to your meals. With brunch we have options to choose one small plate and one large entree. For $45 prefix menu they in my opinion are very generous on portion sizes. You can't go to brunch and not get a cocktail. Well you can and they offer a variety of options, however i opted for a Palomoa with Mezcal tequila because for my brunch option I needed something smokey to pair with the entrees earthy flavors. I reccomend traveling with friends and sampling each other's plates as every option looked delicious, it was hard to choose so we all got one option to share. Our server was such a gem and offered personalized reccomendations based off our questions that helped the three of us narrow down our options. To hear employees speak highly of the food they serve you and what their personal favorites are is always a good sign. I opted for hush puppies and the avocado aoili topped with a delicious peppered jam. Presentation alone was plated to perfection and the taste, phenomenal. Each bite was a unique explosion of flavors. The flakey bites of potatoes paired with a creamy avocado aioli and chunks of peppers dance on you palette with each bite. I was pleased two of us selected the same appetizer because after one was done we devoured the second. The third party member ordered the apple cinnamon beignets. Personally I felt these made the perfect dessert alternative. They were soft , warm and the plated sauce absolutely delicious. I loved that they were not too sweet and had a hint of savory flare. For each of our meals we all ordered something unique. I chose the wild mushroom mac and cheese with duck and truffles. It's very hearty and filling. The earthy flavors played well with my smokey cocktail. Dinner 2 opted for the beef stew and veggies. The beef was so tender and juicy, bursting with rich flavors. Dinner 3 selected the chicken salad and a side biscuit and apple butter for an extra $3. The chicken breaded to perfection offered such a unique flair and flavors , while the unique pumpkin dressing added a taste that was not only unique but delicious. The biscuit was flakey and delicious and paired with the apple butter was worth the extra cost. This brunch date with friends turned into an amazing exploration of flavors, fun and great conversations. Going with a small group is a must. I enjoyed how each entree compliments each other so well. The portions so generous we took food home and the atmosphere and customer service phenomenal.

Dripping with charm, this quaint little restaurant sits in the heart of SJC and just steps aways from the train. The service was warm and welcoming and their brunch was spot on! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone

Amazing place with fresh farm to table like food. Dog friendly with a patio area that’s secluded for a larger party. Been here several times.

Tea house

Beautiful setting for a special lunch! High tea options were excellent if a bit pricey. Be prepared to spend $50 or more per person no matter what you order. I would not recommend this place for children under 10 years old. Service was excellent 👌

Love the vibe and cozy environment! Perfect spot for birthdays, small gatherings, or casual meetings. The tea tastes amazing, and the small bites are delicious, not super filling, but just enough to enjoy with friends.

Coffee shop
Hidden House Coffee in San Juan Capistrano is a charming and welcoming coffee shop with a creative atmosphere. The historic Oliveras House, dating back to 1890, provides a unique setting for this cafe. They roast their own beans at a Santa Ana roastery and offer a variety of coffee drinks, including cold brews and espresso. The cozy wooden porch and tree-filled patio are perfect spots to enjoy your beverage.
Hidden House Coffee is a true gem! The service is always friendly, making every visit a pleasant experience. Their coffee is fantastic, with a variety of flavors and plenty of milk alternatives for lattes. The pastry selection is top-notch—everything is always fresh and delicious. One of the highlights is their seasonal kombucha, which is always a refreshing treat, along with their expertly crafted lattes. I’ve been coming here for three years now, and I always look forward to getting one of my favorites—whether it’s the Honey Lavender Latte, the Matcha, or in the past the dearly missed Maple Bourbon Latte. The atmosphere is absolutely gorgeous, making it well worth the 5+ minute wait. If you're looking for a cozy, high-quality coffee spot, this is it!

The Hidden House Coffee is such a cute hidden gem! The cozy vibe pairs perfectly with their delicious selection of pastries—both sweet and savory. I loved my iced maple brown sugar coffee (so smooth and flavorful), and the cinnamon rolls were amazing. The jalapeño ball was a tasty surprise definitely worth trying. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a chill spot with great coffee and treats!

This is an excellent coffee shop with plenty of options for a variety of tastes from regions around the world. The strawberry matcha was particularly good, and service was kind and fast. There can be a bit of a line/crowd at times, but it makes sense when you factor in the quality of the drink you’re getting. Plenty of seating when we were there, including outside seating. This isn’t a cafe where I’d get work done on a laptop, but a fantastic place to spend time with friends!

Tucked away in the historic town of San Juan Capistrano, Hidden House Coffee offers a cozy, rustic atmosphere and the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee. I had a latte during my visit, and it was fragrant and smooth. With inviting outdoor seating, it’s a perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a peaceful moment.

I was in the area to go to the beach and looking for a delicious cup of coffee and we found it also they had a delicious stuffed bagels that was super good too I totally recommend this spot also the surrounding area has a lot of little cute shops to walk around and enjoy your coffee or drink

Favorite coffee shop in the area! Super friendly staff and delicious cold brew and iced matcha, especially their seasonal drinks. Home made granola is also delicious. If it’s your first time visiting, the line forms straight back from the register and goes out the front door… it does not curl inside. You’ll figure out what this means when you visit!

My friend shared with me that this is a wonderful place with some big trees overshadowing the cafe. I was surprised because I normally don’t associate too many cafes with tall trees especially in the Orange County area. As soon as I saw Hidden House Coffee, the rationale for the name clicked in my head. It is indeed a “hidden” house! It’s incredibly lovely inside with some seating right next to where the barista works. More seating is found outside in the patio. There’s a wide range of people groups and ages. There was a musician playing his saxophone outside of the house. I was told there is normally a long line for such places like this. My friend and I were lucky to have stood in line for the non-rush hours of this place. My friend got a sparkling expresso tonic and I got a chai latte (iced). The coffee tonic, according to my friend, is the best here because the blending of the sparkling water and expresso is done just right without it being too overpowering in flavor. For me, the chai latte, was delicious. It did not taste artificially syrupy, and drinking our drinks in the cafe was a treat! I got to pay for the space to hang and eat. God bless you all! Service was kind and quick - I know things can get busy when there’s a lot of people, so thank you for the genuine effort you put into providing good sustenance for everyone!
