Doheny State Beach is a charming beachfront park situated near the scenic San Juan Bay, managed by the State of California. Accessible via Dana Point Harbor Drive and Park Lantern, it features two distinct public beach areas divided by the picturesque San Juan Creek. The beach offers opportunities for swimming, beginner surfing, and stand-up paddleboarding with gentle waves from the nearby bay.
This is such a beautiful beach, and park. Great camping amenities. My favorite thing about it is the covered picnic areas with grills, and fire pits. I attend 12 steps meetings here and absolutely love the energy with the ocean in view, it's a wonderful location to focus on recovery.

again, I'm not your typical reviewer who gives out 5 stars like free bottle water... it must meet all categories for a park to be considered superb. 1. ample parking! and also for motor home and trailers 2. Great walk paths within the park and extending south to capristrano beach, in and put of the water canal trails leading to mission viejo. for all bikers, Joggers runners and walkers. 3. a great eatery thats seeves beer and drinks and local plates right on the besch front. 4. tables and grills are widely available 5. life guard stations manned and ready 6. break water that's accessible and provides extraordinary views sounds and resting points. 7. for all ages, kids adults and for seniors. 8. surfing, paddling, swimming and sunbathing 9. downtown area provides places to grab some grub siteseeing , and window shopping 10. couple hours of entertainment for the family or by yourself a strong 4.5 to 4.75 missing... beach firepits, water fountains and more shower spots closer to the beachfront .

We had such a wonderful time at Doheny State Beach! We came with our 3-year-old son and it was the perfect spot for a family day. The beach is clean, safe, and easy to access. The waves near the shore are gentle, which made it great for little ones to splash and play without us worrying. There are plenty of picnic areas with shade, which made snack time and breaks really comfortable. Our son loved running around in the sand and watching the surfers further out in the water. The bathrooms were well-kept and convenient to get to, which is always a huge plus with a toddler. We also appreciated the family-friendly atmosphere—lots of other kids and families enjoying the day, but it never felt overcrowded. It’s such a relaxed environment, and parking was simple too. We’ll definitely be coming back. Doheny State Beach is now one of our go-to spots for a safe, fun, and stress-free beach day with our little one! 🌊☀️👶

We stopped there during our morning walk to the beach, and while used to the coastline beaches, we really enjoyed our time here. Besides being conveniently located within Dana point, it has a decent surf spot, highly frequented though and a few good amenities (picnic area, toilets…) - there is also a large paid parking in case you drive down there.
Guillaume B — Google review
Beautiful beach, clean, safe and easily accessible. The waves are not too strong and there are some volley ball courts on the smaller side of the beach. Picnic tables are on the lawn side. Great spot!
Maud C — Google review
There is a lot to love about this beach. Super clean restrooms, easy access to the cafe, loads of picnic tables and bbq pits, and more. We absolutely loved our time here and will be coming back. The only knock is the beach is very rocky if you plan to get into the water you need booties.
James R — Google review
Beautiful clean place. The staff here is on the money when it comes to keeping the areas maintained along with the people. No craziness here. Everyone kept to themselves and maintained a great environment for everyone
Victor J — Google review
Spent the night in my van at the campground. I had a doctors appointment in Laguna and instead of driving home, hour and a half, I spent the night and metal detected. I had a front row, closest to the water, about $75. Worth every penny. I managed to get about $3 back metal detecting 😂😂 _/🚶🏽.

Beach
Salt Creek Beach is a picturesque sandy beach in Dana Point, South Orange County. It's a popular spot for surfing and swimming, with its small offshore reef creating excellent swells. The beach offers stunning views of the coastline and Catalina Island. Visitors can enjoy walking along the bluffs or exploring the scenic tide pools located south of the main beach. Additionally, there's a boardwalk that stretches from The Strand to Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach, providing ample space for relaxation and group gatherings.
Super clean and beautiful beach that has a large and cheap parking lot. Came here for sunset and it did not disappoint. There is a nice grass hill as well if you do not want to watch the sunset on the grass. The waves were large and the sand very soft. There were lots of people just chilling, walking around, and playing sports.
Shawn S — Google review
This is a beautiful hidden beach. You park in a large lot off PCH and take a walk downhill. First you go through a tunnel. On the other side is a large grassy are with picnic tables, BBQ, and a basket ball court. After going down some stairs you will see the snack bar. Off to one side are showers, the other side are the restrooms. The beach is just below. The beach is small and beautiful. They have lifeguards here too. There's BBQ"s on the beach area too. This is a great place to spend the day.

Great beach Parking can get busy on the weekends Great patch of grass to lay out w/ shade from the palm trees
Alex H — Google review
An absolutely beautiful, magnificent beach, one of the most beautiful beach I’ve ever seen 😀
Raoul — Google review
Went to this beach for the first time. Absolutely beautiful. The walk from the parking lot down to the beach was a little long and downhill but so worth it. Idk if it was because it was during the week but it was not crowded and plenty of parking. There is a large grassy area. The walk back up hauling stuff was a pain so be prepared. We took a wagon and an ice chest with wheels which I would highly recommend. My sister-in-law did say on weekends it does get packed so plan to get there early.

The Coach House Concert Hall, located in San Juan Capistrano, is a legendary and intimate music venue known for its low-key vibe and full dinner menu with cocktails. It has been a launching platform for aspiring artists and a home for well-established musicians. The venue offers great acoustics, good food, exceptional service, and reasonable prices. While the food and alcohol are on the expensive side, it's worth it for those who enjoy live music.
Classic music venue that I have been going to my whole life. Seen so many good shows here and it’s always a pleasure to come back and have a good night. Always try to make a reservation early and get a good seat.

The mecca of cover bands and historic singers songwriters and concert hall for all; San Juan's diamond in the rough offers bands and events of all kinds. I was invited by bass player Mikhail, to the U2 experience and boy was it an experience!!! They also included a Cold play tribute that was to die for! The lead singer was awesome and the coach house was packed! 400+ppl, not bad crowd for a Thursday date night!! Can't wait till this band plays again!!

We thoroughly enjoyed Judy Collins at the Coach House! The venue is intimate and the perfect place to see a legend. We enjoyed her stories and humor. Her voice was amazing, still has those crystal high notes. The service and food were great too!
Gale B — Google review
Great venue for live music, with an EXCELLENT sound system (and a clearly talented sound crew). The food and drink are a little expensive, but I suppose that's par for the course for any establishment like this one these days. And, you're not going for the food anyway!

Let me start off by saying my husband and I go to the coach House often, we have seen some great shows. Saturday, September 6, 2025. We did a spur of the moment, buy some tickets to see Devon Allman. Almond Brothers are one of many favorites for my hubby. I went along for the ride lol. I knew nothing of him. All I knew, he’s the son of the late, great! Greg Allman. Let me say!!This was one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen at the coach house. I wish I can remember all the names. The opening act was a young lady very bayou southern, Who was a one Man band. She had that sultry, Bluey, rockabilly style. Great opener for what was yet to come. Then, Devon Allman and his fantastic band started to play. All I can say is WOW. 🤯 They were all so amazing, at one point there were 11 people on stage, calling in fellow musicians Who has played with the best of the best. I can’t begin to tell you how interactive, entertaining they all are. Devon’s voice is amazing as well as all the other appearances. Such talent, All on one stage. Everyone absolutely loved what they do and it showed. Again, Can’t recall all the names. There was a black gentleman who can play and sing like nobody’s business. The new B.B. King. He sang my favorite song, soul shine.. There’s a black lady Who has the voice of an angel, When she sang, you felt it. All I can say is…if you have the opportunity to see Devon Allman.. Don’t miss it! If you weren’t a fan, you will become one. My husband and I have been to many concerts, and have paid a lot of money for some big named bands. I tell you, you can’t beat the coach House for the best intimate seating. Hoping they bring some more big names in. Hats off to the coach house for the many years of bringing great talents to our city. I have to add in… with a full house, you get great service, can be a little pricey, But we enjoy their steak dinner 😋 My cocktails were pretty good too 🥴 let’s see if I can add some clips
Darlene W — Google review
My wife and I have never had a bad meal yet. We’ve had the chicken, filet mignon, New York steak, swordfish etc. All meticulously prepared to order and delicious. We’ve seen Spyro Gyra, Bacon Brothers, Piano Guys, Super Diamond and others. Fantastic shows. Super service and loads of great fun. These pix are of Super Diamond on 8/23/25.

I have never seen Judy Collins before, just admired her from afar! Wonderful venue, great sound, dinner before was delicious too!
Cecile F — Google review
They have a good selection of bands for the area, which is the major plus for this venue! The house band is also good! The local band that played before the house band was horrible, so I don't recommend being there early. The seats are uncomfortable and there are too many people squeezed in at each table. We gave up our seats close to the stage and went back to the bar. They wouldn't have to require a minimum food purchase if the food was good.

Historical landmark
Mission Basilica San Juan Capistrano is a national shrine modeled after the Great Stone Church. Completed in 1986, it serves as the local parish and hosts regular masses. While there are no tours available, visitors can appreciate the art and architecture inside. The church offers ample seating and impressive acoustics, making it a popular venue for events like weddings. Although closed on Mondays, this site is worth visiting to admire its opulence and attention to detail.
Mission Basilica San Juan Capistrano, located at 31520 Camino Capistrano in San Juan Capistrano, California, is a remarkable testament to historical architecture and spiritual significance. Completed in 1986, the basilica was thoughtfully designed to mirror the original 1806 Great Stone Church, which suffered destruction in the 1812 earthquake. This modern reconstruction serves as a vibrant parish, offering regular Mass services and housing a parochial school. Its designation as a minor basilica in 2000 and a national shrine in 2003 underscores its importance as a pilgrimage site and a center for community worship. Visitors and parishioners alike are drawn to its serene ambiance, rich history, and the active role it plays in fostering faith and education within the community.

We stopped in for a few minutes while in town for another activity. We are so glad we did. Each of the children did Mission projects while in school. It is a blessing to be able to stop by and look at history.

Beautiful church with great art and architecture. A great place to pray or simply relax. Note: This is NOT the original mission built in 1776. For that you have to walk down the block and pay the admission fee. The basilica church is free to enter and is an active parish.

Big church in the Spanish style. Beautiful golden altar. It had a feel of Europe meeting the New World. Church is free but $18 if you want to visit the museum and old mission grounds. Lots of restaurants and souvenir shops around and more on the other side of the train tracks on River Street

And very beautiful Church. It makes it easy for praying, that is raising your mind and heart to God. The retablo is very much like one that you would see in an old European Church. You can be a Jesus Lover for an art lover or a historian an experience the greatness and the beauty of this wonderful Mission basilica

French restaurant
L'Hirondelle Restaurant, meaning "the little swallow" in French, is a charming Belgian-French bistro located across from the San Juan Capistrano Mission. The restaurant offers classic dishes such as beef bourguignon and New York strip in a black-peppercorn-and-brandy sauce. Guests can enjoy dining in the cozy interior with vaulted beamed ceilings or on the lovely patio surrounded by bougainvillea.
Once you open the door you are instantly transported to the country side of France, small cozy and welcoming with the decor as you'd expect in a family owned French restaurant. Food was absolutely perfect, the Beef Bourguignon was tender and pulled apart with ease and the flavors were true perfection. The Rainbow Trout was also delicious, tender fish with the perfect amount of flake and crisp. Service was a 10/10! Welcoming, knowledgeable and genuinely made our dining experience amazing. We can't wait to be back and share this place with our family and friends! We did not need a reservation. Wait time as Avery little. Parking was available (not free).

To die for!!! As a French native, I’m usually wary of trying French restaurants… but L’Hirondelle is leagues above the rest on so many levels. First and foremost, the ambiance is lovely, quaint, and cozy. You slip right into a space that feels elevated while still remaining warm and inviting. The next thing I have to mention is the staff. We had the pleasure of being served by Josh, the owner’s son in law, who was such a delight! He made us feel right at home and was very kind and attentive. We would come back just for the wonderful service. Lastly, the food. WOW. If I could give more than five stars, I would. We had the pâté/cheese/fruit plate to start and an order of the escargot…which turned into two orders simply because of how out-of-this-world delicious and authenticity French they are. I won’t be ashamed to admit, we contemplated on a third order! We had the duck breast and petrol sole for mains, also delicious. For dessert, a perfectly crafted and visually pleasing crême brûlée. Chef’s kiss! We will definitely be coming back again and again. Thank you, L’Hirondelle!

Forest time at a French restaurant and it makes me want to visit the country. The staff was friendly, the tables were cozy and made it easy to visit with other like they do in Europe, at least that is what I was told. The French soup and petite rack of lamb from this place would be my last meal.

Terrific spot with charming atmosphere and very tasty food. Everything was terrific! Family owned spot with a real love for their work and guests. Can't wait to return!

A most wonderful dining experience! We have been coming here for many years and it has consistently served delicious dishes, provided fantastic service, and offered a fabulous wine selection. Do not miss the Pate, Cheese, and Fruit board. My favorite meal is the Duck Salad. It is always hard to decide whether to sit indoors or outdoors since both settings are uniquely beautiful and comfortable. Ali is the most gracious and knowledgeable host and the staff is superb. I make the trip from Los Angeles to Capistrano several times a year with friends or family just to enjoy this excellent restaurant. Leave room for dessert!

Great place to dine, nice food (tarragon chicken is top notch) , and very attentive and responsive staff. Whenever I'll be driving back from San Diego, or just happen to be in the area, I'll certainly grab a seat and a plate here.

L’Hirondelle Restaurant is pure charm in every sense! The moment you step inside, you’re welcomed by an elegant, European-inspired atmosphere that feels timeless. The food is outstanding—beautifully prepared, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with a fine selection of wines. The service is warm, attentive, and makes the whole dining experience feel special. Whether it’s a romantic date night, a family celebration, or just treating yourself, L’Hirondelle delivers sophistication and unforgettable flavor. Truly a gem worth discovering! 🌟

Owner is super engaged very proud of his beer, wine, and food, as he should be. It's a romantic eclectic environment which was nice for my wife. If I didn't know where I was it could have been a side street by the river Seine. Their escargo, French onion, and warm spinach and bacon salad were as good as any I've tasted outside Paris.

Guests can also partake in eco-adventures at the Eco-Adventure Center led by expert naturalists, featuring whale-watching excursions, sea hikes, bodyboarding trips, and an Eco Artist program.
Had the most incredible stay to celebrate our engagement. The recently renovated rooms are really nice and modern but still feel like a Ritz Carlton. The service was amazing and couldn’t walk around for too long without someone approaching us and asking if we needed anything. But I will say the highlight was booking Ian at Atventure for a complimentary photography session. He captured shots that our friends told us belong in a magazine. Definitely recommend working with him as we went in thinking we would barely have 10 photos we wanted to purchase, but left having a hard time cutting our favorites down to 20. All around a great trip. Can’t wait to come back!

Breathtaking Views and Exceptional Service The Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel is one of those places that never fails to impress. From the moment you arrive, you’re greeted with warmth and professionalism that immediately makes you feel at home. The ocean views are absolutely stunning, and every corner of the property is immaculate. The service here is consistently top-notch — everyone you encounter is friendly, attentive, and genuinely cares about your experience. Whether you’re relaxing by the pool, enjoying a drink on the terrace, or taking a stroll along the beach, everything feels effortless and perfectly curated. Absolutely stunning views. But the staff makes this place special. First of all, Nickolas at the front desk-thank you for the great room! Love the pool bar, Josh is the OG rock star! Great vibe and super personable. Last but not least Judy at the lobby bar. Thanks for putting up with us! I can’t say enough good about this place!! Ready to come back and haven’t even left yet.

We had a wonderful experience at this location, which is perfectly situated on the water. Amazing views, interior design, and conveniently on a trolley stop if you like that sort of thing. Very kid-friendly. Most of our staff experiences were very good, but we did encounter some staff who didn’t seem very customer-service oriented (at the outdoor dining location and near the beach chair trailer), and the property needed more tending at times (e.g., towels left on top of a garbage and an old French fry on the ground for days, etc). For the brand and price, we would have expected more consistent excellence. However, we still had a wonderful time here and felt the location was incredible. Some of the staff at the pool and in the lobby/reception area were incredibly kind and helpful.

This is nowhere near a 5-star hotel. I decided to use >100K of my precious points on one night at this hotel, and I regret doing so. If I had paid $1,300 a night, which was the cash rate that night, I would rate this a 1-star, not a 2-star. This is a beautiful hotel and it has SO much potential, but it's worth $300 a night, not $1,300. I've heard exceptional things about two other nearby hotels: Montage and The Ranch. I recommend visiting those first instead of this hotel. Here's why: - The service is a 4-star experience at best. The 'beach butler' is just some golf cart that you have to call to drive you up from the beach. If you're surfing, which we were, you won't have a phone, so you have to lug your boards up. - My suite-night award request was rejected, yet I was 'upgraded' to a room right in front of this event space, which was awkward because people were looking into the room all the time. - Coming up from the beach with our boards, there are no showers, nowhere to store your boards. I mean, this hotel is in front of an epic wave, it's not hard to integrate some basic amenities for beach-goers and surfers. There's no surf report, no guides, nothing. - I waited for about 25 mins for the concierge to help see if she could get us a table at the sushi restaurant (on a cancellation basis), who then told me she wasn't a concierge, and to check on OpenTable. Like, come on lady, you don't think I tried that? - We ate brunch at Raya, the food was bland. We wanted to leave but it takes like 15 mins to get your car from the valet (which is $75 per night, again ridiculous). - No status gives you access to the 'Experience Club Level', and despite it showing this on their website, you can't access the sauna (only for spa guests), which I find ridiculous if you're spending $1,300 a night. - There are no lights on the pickleball or tennis courts. - The rooms are small, small showers, no heated floors; things you'd expect from a 5-star $1,300 per night hotel. Again, the experience itself wasn't terrible. But the value for what you get is just straight up disrespectful.

An absolute 10 out of 10..........If you get the opportunity to stay here, DO NOT HESITATE! I could go on for days telling you about this location, but no matter how much I praise its staff, location, experience, the pool, the dining options, the view etc., I would still be doing a disservice! YOU ARE SPOLIED if you have the opportunity to experience this gem, it will stay with you for the rest of your life! Absolutely amazing, every step.

The service I experienced from SB and Judy from the lobby bar was exceptional. From start to finish, they crafted delicious cocktails, and the tuna tartare was outstanding. The location is perfect—right next to the beach, with great restaurants and bars nearby. I would definitely recommend this Ritz.

Exquisitely elegant, beautiful location, valet parking, spacious rooms, comfortable beds, outstanding restaurants and a bar overlooking the coast - what more can you ask for in luxury?! They even parked my S65 close so I can go and explore easily around the Coast. Highly recommended for a vacation or business!

Seafood restaurant
Waterman’s Harbor is a popular dining spot known for its locally caught seafood and spacious beachfront patio. Visitors can enjoy delicious dishes such as calamari with tasty sauce, miso cod with a sweet glaze, and basic yet satisfying salmon. The restaurant also offers generous portion sizes and excellent service, making it a great choice for special occasions like rehearsal dinners. Despite some concerns about pricing, the overall quality of the food is highly praised by patrons who appreciate the beautiful harbor view and friendly staff.
I booked my rehearsal dinner here and it was the best experience. The food was phenomenal and the staff were excellent. We had the banquet room and had a beautiful view of the harbor. My husband and i are already making plans to come back soon. Definitely would recommend this place to anyone.

Raspberry Margarita tasted like Medicine for me so it’s a no🤢 But food that we order was good and have a great amount of serving too. Calamari is tasty especially the sauce. It Goes well together. The Miso cod was also delicious if you prefer your fish in a sweet glaze. Salmon is also good as it is basic. And then our entree took a little longer to be serve for whatever reason. Order there sundae if you have a sweet tooth. It’s a huge serving and its good for sharing.

This is a great place to eat after your whale watching trip! We were seated right away and the hostess was very nice. They seated us on an outdoor patio that was somewhat enclosed but quite cold since we went in late December so we actually asked to move tables to be warmer. Our server was awesome and super charismatic! 5 stars for the service for sure. We felt the food was a little overpriced for the portion sizes. But everything we got was great quality and delicious! I'd recommend going here.

Great location, right at the harbor end, with a second floor for even better views. Fish & chips, flaky fresh fish, lightly battered and fried, delicious! Fries though were average. The steamed clams were good, mussels were not as fresh. The scallops were huge and pretty tasty, but the clams were all overcooked and became quite tough!

Awesome food and service. I have dined here many times. The cocktails drinks are great too. Try the Sunday brunch buffet if you are seafood lover. Can't go wrong with that. Eat your meal, sit back, enjoy the views of the harbor and watch the Catalina express ferry load/unload passengers!

The ousters were on the small side, but they were good. The kids liked the coconut shrimp and the mussels. The mussels had a basil based sauce. It wasn't thrilling nor was it bad. My wife had the burger and enjoyed it. The kids also liked the kids burger and Mac and cheese. My friend didn't like the fish and chips. I had the blackened tuna. I didn't like that the shishito peppers, which were nicely charred, were then covered in the sauce. That made no sense. The sauce was decent. In all, I don't know if I would recommend the place, but I wouldn't not recommend it either. It was okay to good.

Our favorite happy hour spot - luckily very close to our home :) The views at sunset are so calming The oysters are always great and happy hour prices are the best I’ve seen out here (I do miss New York City dollar oyster options) Coconut shrimp is solid Wings with buffalo sauce are a bit on the hot side but nice and meaty and they do have a bbq option Ahi poke dish was solid as well Drink options are great at only $6 a pop, nice and tall. Just had one yesterday, vodka, basil, grapefruit and st germain - nice and grapefruity as we don’t like anything too sweet.

Food is tasty, cocktails are good, but mostly you go here for location. We used to frequent their brunch pre-covid. This last trip though was a little disappointing. We had a great view and could even hear some of the nearby concert. Our server was kind and polite. With that said, the extra charges were kind of crazy. An extra dollar for a couple berries in a vodka soda, uh okay. Then I ordered my salmon with no potatoes just veggies. Somehow that turned my $31 meal into a $35 meal. $4 for no potatoes? First off, I didn't say extra veggies and if that's what the server thought I meant a "hey sure but there's an upcharge for that" would have cleared that right up. Didn't really have the time or energy to complain about $5, but still kind of excessive. Overall still good, just be wary of any special requests.

Located in the charming Dana Point, Whitestone Restaurant & Bar provides an intimate and inviting dining experience, emphasizing seasonal ingredients and sophisticated flavors. Their menu features a fusion of New American cuisine with European touches, highlighting locally-sourced produce and artisanal components. The restaurant offers a diverse selection of dishes ranging from elegant starters to hearty main courses. Additionally, the adjacent bar serves craft cocktails, wine, and small bites alongside a happy hour on select days.
I happen to find this place by chance on PCH in Dana Point. ordered the sun kissed scallops and while waiting for my meal, the waiter threw a complementary loaf of bread on my table. Needless to say the meal was amazing but the bread is what made me take my wife back to try. Now anytime we are in Dana Point. We have to stop here! The cuisine is exceptional! Massimo and Austin, and all of the staff make you feel as if you’re at home without having to do the dishes. If you’re lucky enough to make it during happy hour, try the fish tacos! If you want an exceptional seafood meal in Dana Point, I highly recommend this place!

Every detail was handled with such care and professionalism, allowing us to simply relax and enjoy this special occasion with our loved ones. If you're looking for incredible food, a fantastic atmosphere, and unparalleled service, you absolutely need to come here. Thank you again, Nader, for the amazing experience. What a great experience! My wife and I stopped by for dinner tonight and everything was spot on. We were greeted with smiles and hello's by every staff member on our way to our lovely booth. The 2 servers couldn't have done a better job. And to top it off, our meal was delicious!

I was expecting more and found it was just a regular restaurant like Applebee's or Olive Garden. The front door had to be manually closed, my reservation had me at one table, and I was shuffled around to accommodate someone else. I expected more from the steak I ordered (meh), not vegetables came with my steak dinner, so the side order was $14 (unbelievable). I was placed in a 2 seater corner booth close to the front door after being moved, and walk-ins received better seats than my reservation. Let's just say, as a high level Google reviewer, this is one of my lowest marks. There is little to No chance I will probably return. And maybe not have the Hostess in a dress and dirty sneakers. I Do Not recommend this establishment for local or visiting patrons.👎🏾 Response from the owner an hour ago Dear Guest Anthony, We are genuinely sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. We strive to provide top-notch service and food to all our guests and deeply regret if we fell short. We appreciate your feedback regarding the seating arrangement and our staff's attire and will undoubtedly take these critiques into consideration for improvements. As for the steak dinner, we're saddened to hear it wasn't up to par and will address this with our kitchen team. We want every guest to leave our restaurant satisfied and we're sorry we missed that mark with your visit. We hope you might reconsider and give us another opportunity to turn your experience around in the future. Sincerely, Whitestone Restaurant & Bar Though I appreciate your response, but as the owner, your control is limited day to day. I believe it was the General manager who moved me and was less than cordial. As business owners we can become complacent and detached from our original purpose. Undercover Boss became popular for a reason and had heartwarming stories, but there were also some dark stories we don't usually speak about. The only suggestion I have is to pass out review cards for visitors and see if my assessment was accurate and adjust as you see fit. As a retired disabled veteran that has traveled the world and eaten in many countries, I always expect the best when I am at home. I wish you the best on fixing these issues. God speed!

The server was not paying attention to my table at all. We asked for a dessert menu, he brought the menu and left us hanging 10-15 mins without checking on us. He went to the bar and had a beer and chatting with his coworker. Also heard conflicts between servers, that was mood killing. The food was okay, not so special for the price we paid for.

Northwest side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the northwest side side of town. Start the day off with Mission San Juan Capistrano, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Trevor's at the Tracks. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Mission San Juan Capistrano, a landmark Spanish mission founded in 1776, is a must-visit for anyone interested in California's rich history. With historic exhibits, cultural events, and a gift shop, the site welcomes over 350,000 visitors annually. The mission was originally founded by Saint Junipero Serra and features a museum, gift shop, cafe, and an iconic bell wall that is still rung daily.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Mission at San Juan Capistrano The Mission at San Juan Capistrano is hands-down one of the most romantic venues in California. Its history and architecture bring so much character to every wedding. The aged stone walls, grand arches, and blooming gardens are a photographer’s dream. There’s a sense of timeless beauty here that makes every couple’s gallery feel both historic and personal. It’s the kind of place where love stories become art. ✨ If you’re drawn to the beauty of San Juan Capistrano, I’d be honored to capture your wedding in such an extraordinary setting.

This is a good place to visit if you are interested in California mission history. The original building was destroyed by an earthquake in 1812, and the church ruins and a variety of other original elements remain. Renovations in the 1970s brought reproductions of the many buildings, rooms, and a small chapel. There are beautiful gardens, and a museum gift shop. The swallows don't visit like they used to due to so much activity in the area. It cost $15 to enter, and we were there for about an hour

Alright California!! This Place is Cali Gold. The Historic Value of this place is Second to None. There is so Much History in its relationship to the Development of California. The grounds are very very well kept and the Guided tour is a must to get the most out of this Mission. Visit the Chapel on sight and the Ruins of the Original Chapel. Wow it's incredible. Great for Photos, a Date Day, and exploring for the whole family. Don't miss it. It's incredible and a must see for everyone!

We had the opportunity to photograph S & K's first look at Mission San Juan Capistrano, and it was truly a dream setting for capturing timeless portraits. From the soft stone textures to the iconic arches and bell wall, every corner of the Mission offered a stunning visual backdrop. The light was beautiful throughout the day, filtered, warm, and natural, ideal for both candid and editorial shots. There’s a peaceful, historic charm to the space that elevated the emotional energy of the first look, creating a moment that felt private, sacred, and cinematic. We would highly recommend the Mission to couples looking for a location that combines California history, natural beauty, and elegant architecture. It’s a gem for storytelling. — Anastasia

Mission San Juan Capistrano is one of my favorite places to visit because it holds a lot of fond memories for me. There have been many changes to the mission - especially after the pandemic. The East Gate is no longer open. You have to go through the tour to get into the original chapel. This was the side entrance we used to enter through when we went to Sunday morning Mass as a family. I love that the original Serra Chapel is still intact so visitors can marvel at the intricate details of the altar, handpainted walls, wooden pews, and the St. Peregrine Chapel. The grounds are also well-maintained and I especially love every bit of Mission San Juan Capistrano. Some of the newer things I liked was how they cleaned up the fountain and added koi fish. Overall, I love MSJC and how much of its history is preserved to this day. It’s a beautiful site to visit and to pray. I also always end my visits with a trip to their gift shop. The ladies who work there are wonderful.

What a beautiful, well maintained mission! Although there is now a fee to enter, it’s well worth the price. You can spend an hour or a day just walking the gardens and visiting the chapel. At the exit, there is a church store fulled with books, cards, collectibles, and other artifacts. It’s a fun outing! We are glad we took the time to visit!

This is such a beautiful mission. My kids had a fun time walking/running around and exploring. We were on vacation for my son’s Birthday and they gave us a discounted price because of that ❤️ Some of the areas were not easily accessible with our stroller - so my husband and I had to lift the stroller and carry it up the stairs to get around to the area on the path (the walkway was blocked due to set up for an event). Thankfully we could do that. We probably spent about 2 hours here. I do want to revisit with my kids and see the things we didn’t spend much time looking at. There is plenty of parking around - outside you just have to drive around to find it.

This is a beautiful and well taken care of Mission. Lots of stories told here about the indigenous people and how this Mission was successful and created things for trade. This place takes you back in time and explains the story of the swallow. I live in the area now and bring friends here to enjoy the beauty!

Barbecue restaurant
Heritage Barbecue, located in San Juan Capistrano, offers a Texas-style BBQ experience with a rotating menu of sides. The restaurant is designed for pandemic compliance, featuring an outdoor operation with picnic tables for seating. It shares its outdoor patio with Capistrano Brewing Company and has gained a cult following for its small-batch, hand-crafted meats cooked on outdoor smokers.
Heritage Barbecue definitely lives up to the hype! The wait was about 1 hour and 20 minutes, but so worth it. The food was absolutely delicious, flavorful, tender, and clearly made with care. If you’re a barbecue lover (or even if you’re not), I highly recommend giving it a try. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait ,it’s popular for a reason!

I wanted to like this place. With all the hype. Everything thing I tried was just mid tier. The brisket was okay at best. The pork spare rib was really tender. The char siu was tender but lacked flavor. Cheddar jalapeno sausage was average. The brisket beans and mac & cheese were nothing special. Hot cucumber was overly salty. The people work there are great! The wait on a Saturday was just over an hour.

Smoked out Sundays done RIGHT! We hit up Heritage Barbecue in San Juan Capistrano to feast on BBQ. 🥩 Juicy brisket, massive dino ribs, tender pulled pork, spicy hot sausages, loaded nachos and fall-off-the-bone spare ribs — we feasted like true Texans... but in SoCal style. 🤠🍖 If you're a BBQ lover, this spot needs to be on your bucket list. Only downside was the almost 2 hours line.

Fantastic bbq that is tender and falls off the bone! Slow cooked in their smokers and has great flavor! Get there early because the line gets long! We got there about 15 min before they opened and waited an hour and a half but it was worth the wait. The owner is really nice, service is excellent and food is amazing. Definitely coming back.

A week ago we finally had a chance to try out @heritagebarbecue in @sanjuancapistrano (one of my SoCal favorite cities), and it was deliciously worth the almost 2 hour wait. On this visit we wanted to try out their Pulled pork and Brisket Sando, pulled pork Bahn Mi, Brisket beans, Pollo Asado, Elote, pickles, pickled cucumbers, and not pictured their amazing flour tortillas which won last years @kcrwgoodfood and @gustavo_arellano great tortilla tournament. Also while waiting in line I enjoyed an ice cold beer! Always check their business hours to see what time they open, and I highly recommended you get there an hour early before they open, and make it a day there, lots of things to see, do, and enjoy. #foodie #whatchefsliketoeat #bbq #heritagebbq #michelinbibgourmand #foodporn #bbqporn #sandwiches #pulledpork #brisket #polloasado #delicious #sanjuancapistrano #california

We waited in line for about an hour and 10 minutes just to order and maybe like 10/15 to receive your platter We did get there around 1 and they were already sold out of their beef, brisket and some other items

Trevor's at the Tracks is a charming indoor-outdoor restaurant located in an 1894 railway depot, offering upscale New American cuisine and drinks. The restaurant has historical significance as it showcases the train stop between San Juan Capistrano and San Diego. With a shaded patio surrounded by potted plants and climbing vines, it's an iconic spot for brunch and lunch.
This is a great place to chill with live music, good drinks and excellent food. The only (and not major) issue with the ambiance is the closeness of the tables on the patio. If you are next to a loud group - like some who don’t live here and ride the train from Santa Ana etc - it can be noisy. The food is actually outstanding. See attached pics.

Trevor’s at the Tracks is a true gem in the heart of San Juan Capistrano. The location is unbeatable—set right next to the train station, making it a perfect spot for people watching and soaking in the charming energy of the town. We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed watching the trains roll in and out while people came and went. It added a lively, nostalgic atmosphere to our meal. We ordered the Mac & Cheese with Chicken Parmesan and the Spicy Pasta. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. The Mac & Cheese is rich and decadent—definitely a comfort food indulgence, and more than my mom could finish. The Spicy Pasta brought the perfect amount of heat without being overwhelming. Loved the fresh mushrooms, tomatoes and spinach in the dish. The service was top-notch. Friendly, attentive staff made us feel welcome from the moment we sat down. Trevor’s is clearly set up to accommodate everything from casual lunches to larger gatherings, and the ambiance is versatile enough for any occasion. Whether you're a local or just visiting San Juan Capistrano, Trevor’s at the Tracks is a must-visit spot.

First visit, this is a great, very different location, with a train stopping literally next door. The “Pretty Bird Chicken Sandwich” ($24) was very good, served with very good fries and spicy ketchup. The food was served hot, in a very reasonable time. The “English Sticky Toffee Pudding Cake ($14), was just OK. I’ve had this dessert in England and this was a poor try at it, although it did taste OK. The service was good, paid city parking lot ($2 / hr), but the total experience was quite dear, not someplace to visit regularly. Recommended.

First timer to Trevor's at the Tracks. We sat in the patio to hear the live music which was wonderful. Patio has retrackable covers and umbrellas to block direct sunlight. We had a cab bottle from their CA wine list. I was unfamiliar with any labels but tastes were offered and tried two and chose one. Our entrees were the brussel sprout starter and the grilled salmon with veg chopped hash and cauliflower puree. Both were Amazing and the cab went surprisingly well with flavors. We had the starter served with the entree to give flavor balance, it worked! Service was efficient and wine glasses were refilled by service when observed low. We met Trevor the owner just by hapchance not that we knew him but recognized him from restaurant's good reputation. He is a humble owner and was working doing meanial staff jobs like sweeping and moving umbrellas. No arrogance here. Perfectly comfortable dining experience and highly recommended! *****

Such a quaint area and ambiance. I recommend it as a cool experience to all. The flatbread I had was yummy. My friend has the short rib Bahn mi. I had the spicy Sicilian flatbread and it was great, the only comment I have is that one side of it was darkened crispy crust and the other side was perfectly cooked. Other than that it was a great experience.

The food was absolutely amazing here! We tried the karate chip chicken salad and a chicken sandwich, along with the tropical cobbler for desserts. There was a moderate to long wait probably because it was a Labor Day weekend, but it was absolutely worth it! They were even kind enough to serve a patty for our dog! Adding to the ambiance was the live music that just made the experience even better. We'll certainly be visiting this place again!

Nice atmosphere here that brings you a little back in time with this old building and garden in the courtyard. It's just relaxing to sit there and watch people go by. Food I have to say was ok. Not bad but nothing to write about. Falafel was a bit mushy and needed some kind of dressing. It's a shame since it's one of their more popular dishes on the menu. Wouldn't get that again but quesadilla was good with lots of cheese. I'm also surprised they don't have an alternative for coffee milk. Something dairy free. We are in CA. You kind of expected that here. Waitress was very nice but she was serving everyone so service a bit slow.

FKN Bread is a bakery in Orange County that offers innovative and delectable pastries, including savory stuffed croissants and indulgent danishes. The bakery's charming ambiance adds to its appeal, making it a must-visit for pastry enthusiasts. The bakery is named after the owners' three sons and was born out of their passion for experimenting with different types of bread at home.
My favorite bread bakery in South OC. They make a great sourdough and it comes in a few different flavors. Their croissants and other pastries are pretty good. The star of the show is the honey biscuit. It is to die for and they sell it to heritage bbq as well. It's only available on certain days of the weekend.

We stopped by this bakery right before heading into The Mission. FKN are initials of their sons. I didn’t know what to expect when I walked in. From the outside, I thought it was bigger but it’s a cute tiny little grab and go place. Each of the pastries are on display. Then I noticed this bakery specializes in everything sourdough which is my least favorite bread. We got ham and cheese sourdough croissant and chocolate sourdough croissant. Even though I’m not a fan of sourdough, it wasn’t tastable in the ham and cheese but very noticeable in the dark chocolate croissant. Had the sour salty flavor. It’s a matter of preference and sourdough is just not for me. I also wished they could have offered to heat it up. Instead it was cold and hard. They sell fresh baked loaves and we were told they sell out quickly.

The sourdough baklava pistachio paste croissant ("waSOH", lol) is the best real croissant I've had since Layercake in Irvine, CA before they changed their vendor around 2014. The closest in OC has been Cream Pan in Tustin, CA, but no match for the flaky, crunchy yet soft sound, texture, and taste of the FKN Bread example. It's basically like the one I had in France over 20 years ago. I'm kinda wishing I lived closer so I could have it a little more often! Update: The "regular" sourdough croissant was just as amazing, so it wasn't the flavoring that did it. It's the bread. Very hard to do so many kudos!! Please never change the recipe. If the market ever demands a crappy crescent from you, so be it, but please never take away this absolute ambrosian delicacy from the menu even if you only end up making a small amount each day, and please label them accordingly 😊
Mark M — Google review
I just found out that FKN Bread has sourdough croissants and I'm in Heaven! I got the almond croissant and it was so delicious. So flaky and buttery and perfect. I'll definitely be going back here to try their sourdough cinnamon roll. If you love sourdough and live anywhere within driving distance of FKN, be sure to go! But make sure you check the hours bc they are closed on Mon and only open til 4 Tue-Sun

I tried the classic sourdough from here and it was pretty fire. They couldn’t slice it for me since it was too fresh out of the oven so I did it myself at home. Didn’t come out perfectly, but i could still cut through the best I could. I would come back and want to try the jalapeño cheese!

We love FKN Bread!! Yes a slice of sourdough with banana PB and honey is definitely easy to make at home BUT on FKN sourdough bread it’s an even yummier treat. The Italian sandwich is also the bomb. We decided to take home pizza dough that’s ready to go and comes with very easy instructions… our homemade pizza was delicious❤️

Good sandwiches We tried: The Beet The Tuna - subbed Avo for the cheese Both on sourdough Yum Sourdough Oatmeal chocolate chip cookie Good Honey Biscuit - a little sweet for us and really not a biscuit. This was more like a cake? Super friendly. We walked out and said wow everyone is having a great day !

Stopped inside for my first visit here. I saw a lot of people nearby walking around carrying their bread bags, and thought it should be good… Ordered the cranberry walnut sourdough bread. The bread tastes delicious! Amazing! This is a cute little shop in the heart of downtown San Juan Capistrano.

Hennessey's Tavern is an Irish-style pub chain with a casual and traditional atmosphere. The restaurant offers a variety of comfort food, including burgers, bar bites, and breakfast options such as avocado toast and 2-egg breakfast. Located in San Juan Capistrano, the tavern provides swift service and a pleasant dining experience. In addition to its charming interior, there is also ample outdoor seating available. Guests can enjoy typical pub fare like burgers and fries while sipping on well-crafted cocktails.

First visit, I had the “special” (see photo) smash burger. Really good deal, only $6, instead of the normal price of $17.25. Outdoor seating on the street side, was nice, friendly server did a very good job. Irish Nachos was good, served on a hot plate. Double patty “smash” burger was good, my only complaint was it really wasn’t a smash burger, because it didn’t have the normally tasty crispy edges. Plate served hot, good fries with very good ranch style dip. The best parking is a paid lot to the rear of the restaurant. But the walk to the restaurant is difficult, especially for a mobility challenged person, due to the steepness of the alleyway. Recommended, we will be back.

Went for brunch on a Friday. No wait. Very friendly staff. Got a Bloody Mary (good) & Irish Coffee (ok). I ordered the Dublin Benedict, corned beef instead of Canadian bacon. It was very good. The side of potatoes were undercooked a bit. I'm sure at night with all the live music and people this place is an entirely different story.

Happy 4th of July at Hennessey's Tavern in SJC. We sat in the patio, and we're immediately helper by Bella. We ordered two ranch waters with Don Julio Blanco and the spinach artichoke dip. The service was good and ambiance positive and cool. Sarah made our drinks and took our entree order as we both ordered the Dublin Burger, and they were fantastic. Also, another round of drinks. Grace brought our food out and was quite kind as well. Good people, food, service, and ambiance. Highly recommended.

I really enjoyed this restaurant/bar. My friend and I arrived early in San Juan and wanted to enjoy a nice breakfast. This was the only establishment that was opened at 8 a.m. We were the only ones there at the moment, so service was swift & the lady who took down our order was very nice. I had an avocado toast & he had the 2 egg breakfast. The food was phenomenal. We both loved the potatoes & everything was just plated and cooked to perfection. We decided to go back for a late lunch and we're not disappointed. We had 2 Lagunita IPAs & ordered the Paddy burger as well as the Chipotle burger. The burgers were huge, and we both were not able to finish them, but they were delicious. 😋 I will definitely be coming back here every time I'm in San Juan Capistrano. It's very convenient, just a short walk from the train with excellent customer service and a wide range of inside and outdoor seating. I definitely recommend this place!
