Opus 40 is a magical place. Give yourself plenty of time to really absorb it and definitely get the tour. John grew up there and knew the artist and is a wealth of information on the history of the place and of the arts culture in Woodstock. He also knows a ton about the geology. Much to learn.
What an amazing place. I came here as a kid and just went back. 40 years later it’s just as impressive and beautiful. Friendly staff too. I wished we brought a picnic!
What a Grand magical place. Very fortunate to be able to visit and explore art. To imagine one’s obsession to creat this. $16 for adults and $6 for kids under 6 years old. Portapotties are available and gift shop. Parking available on the premises with a short walk for admissions.
Was passing through the Hudson Valley after a roadtrip to see family in Maine. I was fortunate to time the visit with the fall foliage in full swing. The site sits about 5 miles off 87 and is well paved and marked. The parking was abundant and a short walk to the admissions booth. Spectacular views of the monumental landscape architecture highlighted by the fall foliage. Well worth a visit!
This was cool! It’s kind of just one thing and you get the idea pretty quickly, but definitely worth a stop through! Signage is wild.
All I can say is, “Wow”!!! You have to go there to really have an appreciation of this amazing masterpiece. Pictures don’t do it justice. I can’t believe one man built all of this without machinery - just talent and tools. I’m so grateful to his wife for sharing it with the world. It would have been a tragedy for us to not have been able to witness it. You must go see it.
Fascinating place to tour on a sunny day. Check out the video about the artist who created Opus 40. Combine it with lunch in Saugerties and a visit to Krause’s chocolate store and you have created a banner day!
Visited this place for the first time back in 2023. Spent a few hours wandering the property discovering nooks and crannies and was thoroughly enthralled from the first minute. The dedication, time, effort it must have taken is unbelievable. What an amazing place and journey of how Opus 40 came to be!

The walk is very easy but hot and humid most days. The lighthouse area and house are closed on weekends 🙃 but you can still get to it and take some pretty pics as I did for my daughter's maternity shoot.
I wandered around the outside, so cute, secluded overlooking river- hard to get booking- was at Total Tennis on labor day sightseeing, discovered this place it’s a bit of a mucky walk-through mud and reeds… You can also get to it from a boat, which is probably much cleaner, but it’s so romantic on the edge of the water and an old old lighthouse rustic vibe .someday I wanna stay here, the outside and walking around the porch wrapping around. It was just so cute.
Pay attention to the tides!! You cannot visit at high tide. A short walk through a preserve over a few wood bridges. There is water on both sides of the walk and at high tide they meet. Wear proper footwear.
The Saugerties Lighthouse is a beautiful and historic gem. The lighthouse was built in 1869. Today it is possible to take a scenic hike to it, take a tour of it, or stay overnight in it. The nature trail to the lighthouse is open daily. The trail to the lighthouse is an easy half mile walk. The trail offers scenic panoramic views of the Hudson River. Be sure to check the tide table that is posted online to avoid tidal water on your hike. The lighthouse is actually still used today as an aid for navigating the Hudson. If you’re interested in tours or staying overnight check the Saugerties Lighthouse website. Parking for the lighthouse is easy and the nature trail starts from the parking lot. Overall, the lighthouse is a nice piece of history located on the scenic Hudson.
I can't comment on the rooms or service since we didn't stay here. It's about a half mile hike to the lighthouse, some on boardwalks. You can only view the lighthouse as the walkway around it is closed off. Nice views of the Hudson River when you get to the lighthouse.
What a beautiful hide away. Visiting the local area and come across this little gem Googling. Not sure how crowded it normally gets, but went on a Tuesday and off season in October, it’s pretty quiet and chill.
I haven't rented this house as of yet but a very nice location. Water is all around the house and you have a great view of the osprey nesting with babies on a pole in the water
Visited for an evening stroll. Great peacefu/ relaxingl location. Visiting hours are limited and mostly available during the weekdays, so review hours/ plan ahead. Boardwalk with some mud/ sand paths to Lighthouse. Walk/ stroll to lighthouse was about 15 minutes.

This is such a lovely sanctuary for farm animals. The tours are very informative. The animals are well taken care of and loved. Everyone who works there cares so much. CAS is worth the visit. If you can’t make it in person I’d say they’re also worth a donation.
I had the pleasure of visiting CAS this past weekend and it was an amazing experience. The grounds were peaceful, and the animals were calm and could tell they are so loved. Our tour guide, Alison, was fantastic—she shared detailed stories about the animals’ we met, as well as thoughtful context about the farming industry. What impressed me most was how passionate and caring the entire team is. Their love for the animals shines through in the sanctuary’s atmosphere—healthy, relaxed animals who greet visitors without fear. Even the few sheep in quarantine seemed at ease and well cared for. I highly recommend visiting if you’re in the area. It’s educational, heartwarming, and inspiring.
What a joy it was to visit the sanctuary! The love is contagious, the animals are adorable, and everybody there was very kind. We visited and booked our spots on a tour on what turned out to be a rainy day, and it made the whole experience even more special. Megan, our guide, was very knowledgeable and fun. I am eager to visit again! I highly recommend Catskill Animal Sanctuary if you're visiting or passing through the area, kids would enjoy it too. The tours are educational, entertaining, respectful of the well-being of the animals, and mindful of the safety of the guests. I'm grateful for this place!
What an amazing experience it was to visit CAS!! These residents have truly hit the jackpot and are living their very best lives here. A 36-year old horse had trouble getting up after rolling in the dirt while we were visiting. Our tour guide made a call and a team was there within less than a minute to help. This sanctuary is so so wonderful and our tour guide, Camryn, was awesome!! I finally got to hug cows!! 🐮 💕 It was an experience I won’t forget. Definitely follow, donate and visit if you can!
This was our 2nd trip with our daughter (who was just turning 4 and is now 6.5) to Catskill Animal Sanctuary. It was our 2 year old son’s first visit. Our daughter has remembered and talked about Jasmine since Oct 2022, the most wonderful pig you ever did meet, and our son squealed with excitement each time an “underfoot animal” passed by. Megan led our group tour and did a wonderful job, keeping both kids and adults engaged while educating us along the way about the individual animals we met, the mission of the sanctuary, enlightening us as to unfortunate truths we turn a blind eye to and small things we can do to help bring about change. It is a beautiful property providing food, shelter, healthcare and love to all the animals they can take in. It is such a special and personal experience for kids and adults alike, definitely worth the trip!
We went to the sanctuary on a rainy and snowy day. The weather was truly awful, but also made the experience memorable. Our tour guide is full of compassion for the animals and really knows the residents inside and out. The tour itself doesn’t feel rush. The facility is well kept and cute. All the profits will go towards the supporting the sanctuary and the farm animals that are raised there. ❤️🥹 highly recommend
Beautiful place, passionate and friendly staff…AND the Underfoots!? Such a great day. Get a day pass so you can wander around before/after the tour.
we got a private tour here. the staff were very friendly. the gift shop is super cute. we saw lots of animals and were able to get up close with a few and pet them. animals were well cared for and really respected. they have a great emphasis on education. I can't wait to see what they do when they move to a bigger and better place.

Very pretty hike for me and Buddy. The falls and the river views were beautiful. There’s cool wooden handmade benches to relax on. The trails were well marked. There were some rocky/slightly steep parts, but that makes things more interesting. Everyone i saw there (6 people) each had their dog with them . Good hike for humans and dogs alike!
Leisurely walk that takes less than an hour total. Fairly flat with rewarding views. The red and white trail form a loop, whereas the blue trail ventures down to river in a smaller loop that’s great for smaller children. Both loops offer water views and benches viewing small waterfalls.
Falling Waters Preserve is a great area to hike and take in the beauty of the Hudson River. There are three main trails of different lengths and the trails are well marked. The small parking lot holds about 10 cars.
We had a wonderful time on our hike. The waterfalls were small but really relaxing and wonderful to see. There were several benches throughout the park where you could sit and enjoy the sights. It was free, safe and beautiful.
It can get pretty busy, luckily the parink area is small. Great hike, love the river and stream on the trails. Saw ducks in the stream for the first time!
Very pretty spot for a walk and/or run. Its not a long trail and really pretty in the woods.
It is fine. Thought the waterfalls were underwhelming. The paths were a bit buggy and the white path along water was blocked for most part of the views of the Hudson. Overall it was a quick decent hike but nothing to go out of your way for.
As you enter the trail, it’s the first right turn. That’s where you’ll see the falling waters preserve. Nice quite place when wooden chairs to sit and observe the falls. Small falls. Didn’t find it worth making a trip for. No one else was there.

Attended a lecture today, my first but not my last visit to this local resource for artists, students, residents and visitors. I hope more schools and home schooling families visit the Indigenous Artist / Art .
First time in Woodstock. We loved the city itself, even out of season, but this museum added impressions of the city. Amazing pieces of art from local artists 🙌🏻
The staff at this venue are helpful and very accommodating and the layout of the museum is very open, which offers very accommodating ateas for artwork to be displayed. However, I think a better job of marketing their local artists could be achieved which in turn would increase local media coverage for them. I have attended two local art shows here and both seemed under attended, despite very heavy foot traffic in the downtown area and the public parking lots, which were packed.
WAAM was, and is, extremely important to me as an artist. It was my first foray into exhibiting, and becoming an active member was a huge milestone for me. I continue to enjoy the shows, and the opportunity to exhibit with great artists from the region. The Focus shows, in particular, have raised the bar for exciting exhibitions. And the events/intakes are a great opportunity to schmooze with the art community of the region. This organization does so much to improve the lives of the community.
Interesting works by local authors. Free entree with donations suggested. A lovely place to spend 20 minutes if you're already walking by.
Very disappointing experience. What they had on display was sub par at best. It all looked like a first year art students'final project. What happened to Woodstock? You used to be able to find fantastic art here.
The work is varied and interesting, the admission is free, wish the bathroom was gender neutral and accessible.
Nice presentation by Isabel and Scott Draves on Jun 9, 2018.

This place looks the same as it did 30 years ago. It looks smaller as I've gotten older, but it seems to have not changed. There's an old Sawyer Mill at the creek, remnants of an old house, a small playground for little kids that looks like it hasn't been changed in 30 plus years. If you looking for a small park to go to just to relax this is it. Especially during the mum festival. They have a lot of beautiful mums flowers, a couple vendors, and some music. There's also a small petting zoo.
Overall fun park. Very diverse (and maybe more hazardous for toddlers) but we still had a great time. The park grass tends to flood in the rain so our socks got wet and both parking lots require you to walk across grass. Oh bonus points for the name. Super clever 😏
Seamon Park has beautiful trees in spring. There is a nice view of the Catskill Mountains from the park as well. It is a quiet area. The park has a small parking area and getting in and out may be tricky on when 9W is busy.
Always a nice garden. In past they had tulips. This time mainly varieties of daffodils and narcisis. Parking by former grissmill is safer than street side, however after school there may be some smoking Hooligans.
A pretty little park , easy walking distance from the center of the village. One of only 2 village parks that allow dogs ( leashed). A very serene and peaceful spot with a beautiful view of the mountains. I took these photos in the spring- lots of beautiful blooming trees!
The entrance to the parking area could be better marked. It felt a bit like I was entering someone's private driveway. The gardens are lovely with many memorial benches, a gazebo, and neat statues. The playground is quite old school: mostly jungle gyms, big rocks and logs to climb. There are baby swings but no big kid swings despite a frame that looks like it housed them. My kids(4 and 8) weren't real impressed with that aspect. Picturesque views of mountains, forest, and fields with grazing deer.
This is a wonderful park to visit with a large group. There is a large pavillion. We saw rabbits and squirrels.
Great view of the Catskill. The mums were beautiful.

Great shop! As someone who buys and resells AND collects lots of mid century vintage items, display is priced accordingly. For those who think that this place is overpriced, you may not know how to price items. Everything in the stores fairly priced according to what it’s worth. The staff was Friendly and the store was fairly large.
Went here for the first time yesterday with my wife with no purchasing intent as we were killing time before meeting with a friend. We ended up purchasing a glass display cabinet and a wood hutch cabinet for our kitchen. They have amazing items that are very unique, in all kinds of price ranges. Some very rare things that I’ve never seen in person anywhere else, too! We have had our sights on items like the ones we purchased for a long time, and aside from great pricing, they offered delivery for a reasonable fee. That was the deal-maker for us because I have a small car. I can’t wait to behold my items when they’re delivered! I’ll definitely be back for more.
Awesome variety of stuff and really helpful staff! In love with the two new pieces of art I got today
They were not so friendly. They didn't even greet me when I walked in ( and they were all there in the front)...it is so important to have people friendly people working with customers. That made me change my mind about purchasing anything
Wonderful selection of fine antiques. Gorgeous place. Friendly staff.
Love to just walk around checking out the beautiful antiques
Great place lots of selection!
Small and insanely overpriced. Parking is also tough in the area. Edit: Five years later, some fool decided to wake up and write a snarky response to my two sentence negative review. Lol. Please avoid this place. These people are obviously insane. You’ve been warned.

I remember swimming here as a kid with my older brothers and sisters. The town would always have an active lifeguard there, and each summer, they would have swim lessons for the kids. This was a happening place back in the 80s and 90s and holds a special place in my heart. There was a news paper article one year that featured all of the kids doing lessons. I remember getting Italian ice across the way, going to fays, and the gas station to get 5 cent bazooka joe gum....I know I sound old...but these good times were only 34 years ago!
Great little gem.perfect for seniors and wheelchairs. Bathrooms are clean. And it feels very.much like your own private spot. Life guard was there. And we watched a group of seniors doing Thai chi....it was a perfect morning!
Such an awesome spot! We took our hybrid kayak and ventures into the creek, super clean great water to swim in, rocky textures further in! Only trouble I felt is the big real state block of building coming right on the accessible public waters. Not the best view at first. Otherwise, we really enjoyed it!
Nice place to fish and kayak when the fecal content isn't high! It's a shame drains still run off into the esopus. Could be nice and clean if run offs were monitored! Big fish in here, especially upstream! Very seceneic along the esopus! Would definitely recommend!
An excellent, authentic Hudson River experience! (It's inaccessible at hight tide — for your information. That bumps authenticity even higher. Parking space is the only shortage.
Very Cool Place , Was like stepping back in Time. Perfect Family Place !
can be a nice, quiet place to hang for a little while. it's a shame how those new buildings to the left of the beach have ruined the view. also people bring their dogs here all the time when it clearly says no dogs. nobody polices this. kids running around the grass without shoes on and dogs peeing all over the place. it's a shame
Went kayaking here along the Esophus Creek. It was beautiful.

Great little hike with Buddy (an 11 year old dachshund) Just enough challenge without being too challenging or too rocky. Well marked trails, though still ended up getting out on the wrong side of the park. 2.6 miles , 1hr 45 minutes. Long enough to exhaust the dog so i can leave him alone tonight and take in a movie without guilt.
Perfect scenic trails that allow you to bring your dog/s. There is limited parking but we didn’t have a problem. There is a beautiful creek that you can walk along as well. It’s also not too challenging and the perfect spot to get steps in while catching in the magnificent scenery. I will certainly be returning when the leaves start to change next month.
This preserve gets two stars. One just for preserving the area from development and protecting the watershed. Two for no trash. I guess if I lived here it would be a great place to walk a dog or get your steps in. Otherwise sadly disappointing from the standpoint of restoration, natural beauty, or biodiversity. Chock full of invasive species and doesn't seem to be managed with the promotion sustaining of native species in the forefront. Trails are poorly marked and could be better maintained. Just kind of sad and ugly, honestly.
Nice quiet place with some trails. It was a little interesting getting to it as you go through housing areas and it has a tiny little parking area. Not big at all and could be hard to find a spot if it was crowded. No one was there when we were there. We walked a few of the trails, went down to the creek.
I did the blue trail starting at shady lane. It was a beautiful and and easy hike compared to most catskill hikes. Kids would enjoy but it's a bit far. Probably 2 miles give or take .5
It was challenging enough to get my heart rate up a few times, but relaxing enough to unwind.
We had a lovely hike through the preserve on a beautiful sunny spring day. It's not a demanding trail at all which was perfect for me being my knee is having issues. It didn't stress my knees at all. It's lovely standing by the creek. There is a small waterfall along the trail.
Nice area to explore. We hiked a few relatively short trails. Some inclines that were good excersize, and the trails don't take long. The entrance we used only had a few parking spaces. The Saugerties Lighthouse is nearby

We always love showing at HITS But my purpose for the review is to give Archies coal fired Pizza Five stars! It has been a game changer when spending long weekends showing and watching the competitions all day long. They have great pizza, sandwiches, even breakfast sandwiches. They even have beverages offered such as Prosecco, rosé, and nonalcoholic beverages. It really makes sitting and watching for hours enjoyable any time of day.! The owner, Jessi is such a doll and her staff are all just as lovely! 💗

It's called Mini Park for a reason, but it's really cute, a perfect little place to relax, stop to eat your sandwich or just rest your eyes from the road. Picnic tables, some of them covered.. Beautiful views of the Hudson, big and small boats passing by. They have a ramp for the small boats. No restrooms, just a portal john. One BBQ, an electrical outlet.
Small but beautiful. Great for fishing and just taking in the beautiful scenery.

I had the pleasure today of purchasing a boat from Connor at Saugerties Marina. Connor is very friendly and knowledgeable. He responded quickly when I was messaging him and was very fair in negotiating. His team did a great job prepping the boat and trailer for my long ride home. I highly recommend Connor and Saugerties Marina.
Had a fantastic experience at Saugerties Marina! Connor was an amazing captain—friendly, knowledgeable, and took us to some great fishing spots on our rented pontoon. His dad Casey was just as welcoming and helpful. Can’t recommend them enough!
We had the most beautiful sunset cruise! Connor was awesome and so happy to answer all of our silly questions. We had such a great time and would highly recommend it to our friends!
We had a great experience!!! The whole experience was super smooth—from booking to boarding. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and made sure we were comfortable/having fun the entire time. The boat itself was clean, well-maintained, and had everything we needed for a fun day on the water. Definitely recommend if you're looking to relax, explore, or just enjoy some sunshine. Would 100% book with them again!
Our small bachelorette party group of six took a sunset cruise at Saugerties Marina and had such a great experience! The original date we booked wound up having thunderstorms on the forecast and we were able to easily switch to another day. Our captain Connor was helpful and accommodating and the boat was perfect. Would recommend to anyone who wants a fun & scenic activity!
I recently had an amazing boat ride with Saugerties Marina, and it was an absolute blast! Our group consisted of 5 adults and 4 kids, and there was something for everyone to enjoy. The boat provided ices and a cooler for our drinks, which was a thoughtful touch. The captain was incredibly friendly and took us all on an exciting tubing adventure along the river. It was such a thrill and everyone had a fantastic time. I'm definitely planning to come back for another boat ride and I highly recommend this fun experience to everyone!
We return to Saugerties Marina every year for our annual pontoon boat day, and it’s truly the highlight of our summer. There’s something magical about being out on the water with sunshine on your face, a breeze in the air, and good friends all around you—it’s the kind of experience that resets your spirit. Grateful to Saugerties Marina for continuing to make this beautiful tradition possible—there’s nothing quite like a day on the Hudson, soaking in sunshine, laughter, and the kind of connection that only happens on the water. The staff are always kind and welcoming, and the whole process—from check-in to docking—is smooth and stress-free. The boats are clean, comfortable, and well cared for, and our captain always does a great job guiding the day with ease and professionalism. We continue to look forward to our time together on the Hudson each year. It’s become more than just a boat ride—it’s a tradition we treasure. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a day of joy, ease, and unforgettable memories.
Casey and Connor were absolute legends, friendly, fun, and totally on top of everything. The boat was spotless, the views were gorgeous, and they made sure our whole group had the perfect mix of laughs, music, and relaxation. Couldn’t have asked for a better day on the water!

Very cute spot with a large variety of midcentury furniture, art, rugs, and house wares. The staff was friendly and all of their furniture was in excellent condition and reasonably priced!
Purchased the most gorgeous painting from Charlie here. He was very helpful in getting my painting personally shipped to me in Brooklyn and kept in touch with me through the entire process. Shipping took about 3/4 weeks because I had to wait for their driver to come to the city from upstate but the price for shipping and the painting were both reasonable and worth it. Was also able to pay online.
My favorite home goods store in Saugerties - beautiful and thoughtfully curated selection of furniture and decor items and a very friendly / helpful shop owner. Unlike all those antique shops where 90% of the stuff in there is junk, this store is sophisticated and offers elevated pieces in excellent condition. Highly recommend!

Went the last two years and even though there are a limited number of venders they bring the heat. Awesome artisan bread, great apple cider, and even better food.
My husband and I went through a chance in this place. They are incredible producers. Food with great quality. We love it.
As with most farmers markets prices were very high. Small wedge of cheese $16, small imported hard sausage $14, croissants $3 each and a bit dry. All from different vendors. East to get to. Parking manager was nice, helpful, super upbeat and awesome overall. The markets location was good and walkable downtown Saugerties with plenty of interesting shops is just a few blocks away.
Quaint farmer’s market. Didn't have cash so I used my credit card to change for market credit. Bought some flowers and vegetables before heading back to the city.
Market is great! Parking is kind of scary! My son almost got hit going across the parking lot to the market. Pretty scary. Might want to rethink parking!!
One of the best markets I've ever been to. The folks who put it on every week really think about Community and create a space where community can not only support local farmers but can also connect with each other and enjoy the best parts about being human. For a few hours every Saturday during the summer, life slows down and people matter.
Wonderful variety of local farm fare, vegetables, baked goods, crafts. Live music and kids activities, look for the farm animal day! Also, get tacos! BEST tacos at twisted tacos and they have veg/vegan options for all of them!! Highly recommend!
A good variety of booths. They have a nice field there if the kids want to run around or have a picnic with your newly bought items. Parking is ok. The volunteers were helpful with parking tho and explaining protocol in terms of social distancing.
