Tokorozawa Sakura Town is a contemporary cultural complex in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, dedicated to anime and Japanese pop culture. It houses the Kadokawa Culture Museum designed by architect Kuma Kengo and Musashino Reiwa Shrine featuring a ceiling mural by Amano Yoshitaka of Final Fantasy fame. The complex also includes the anime-themed EJ Anime Hotel, Canteen KADOKAWA cafeteria, and various eateries using locally sourced ingredients.
I enjoyed everything from the shrine, museum, to the lunch buffet. Even things I don’t usually eat tasted so good at the buffet. The shrine’s ceiling was beautiful and definitely worth the visit if you’re a Final Fantasy fan. I bought an amulet to pass my exams. The outside of the museum is such a site to see. The 8m(26ft) library is filled to the brim with manga and literature. Plus some pretty cool art pieces I didn’t want to spoil in the photos.

Magnificent architecture. The library area is also wonderful. The events were OK, but not worth travelling all the way to Tokorozawa for.
Ryann C — Google review
I think it is overrated. For a museum, it should have more content. For a tourist attraction, it should also have more. This place is good for one visit only and it is not for every body.
Joseph C — Google review
Absolutely beautiful space with the Kadokawa museum designed by Kengo Kuma. The complex is a bit far from Tokyo and take around 1 hour to arrive. However, the museum itself is well worth the trip. Built with 20,000 granite tiles, each weighing between 50 and 70 kilograms, the museum has 4-5 floors with a manga lounge, beautiful and huge library with tens of thousands of titles, a cafe and different exhibition and chill places. Highly recommended to check this place out if you have time, even if just for this architectural landmark.

Beautiful place to visit with convenience access from Ikebukuro by the Seibu line. It is a great place for book and manga lovers. The restaurant on the fifth floor has an artsy and enjoyable environment, a good place for refreshment.

Wonderful day trip! Perfect spot for a casual date. Lots of very good food and shops. I really enjoyed the book store! They also have wonderful art exhibits and some beautiful Tori Gates. They also have the Borderless exhibit next to it so if you go in the afternoon when it gets dark you go right across the street for some wonderful sights and sounds!

Tokorozawa Sakura town is located in Higashi Tokorozawa, Saitama Prefecture. One evening I felt like going somewhere to enjoy my day, and I found this place. I didn’t know about this Sakura town before. It was a peaceful environment in a beautiful green area. Kadokawa Musashino Museum was a very interesting place to go. It’s a really unique Museum I've ever visited. It has a wonderful library and art gallery that everyone should visit. Actually, you must get tickets before entering all the places, and you can even buy a one-day passport. You can buy tickets at the counter or on their website. I entered Musashino Forest Park too. It was also incredibly beautiful. Not only adults but also children can enjoy it. They Have restaurants and cafes too. Please note that some cafes are closing earlier. The prices of foods were reasonable, and the foods were delicious. Before visiting there, check their website to learn about their holidays. There you can take many pictures, and I think all the pictures I took there were very beautiful. The reason is that the light falling on them is beautiful. If you also want to see a wonderful, quiet area outside of Tokyo, I recommend you go to Sakura Town and enjoy your day.

Unique style of architecture. There it's a metal mesh Tori gate but I believe it will be a full of vines later because they have vibes growing at the base. So I believe this will be nature + modern art. It still is currently in it's soft opening, so a lot of areas are closed. Only cafe, restaurant, mobile cafe, n teamLab is open. Once everything is open, I believed it will be a great area. If you want to go too three museum, makes sure to make reservations, as this is to help limit people in, sure to covid19. This is a great way to prevent further spreading.

The Tokorozawa Aviation Museum is a must-visit for aviation enthusiasts and history buffs. It stands as a testament to the birthplace of Japanese aviation, showcasing an impressive collection of vintage aircraft and interactive exhibits that chronicle the country's aviation history. Visitors can explore a range of planes and helicopters, from early models to modern aircraft, with the opportunity to climb inside some of them. The museum also offers 3D movies in an IMAX theater, adding an immersive element to the experience.
Son had fun seeing the planes in the museum. Very interactive place as well with simulators. Could have been a bigger place so the planes aren’t crowded altogether for better photos. Entrance is cheap. Only paid ¥620 for 1 adult and 1 child.
Em D — Google review
I wanted to see something amazing, but it was just normal. The main room is exciting with lots of aircraft displayed. Especially like the ones up above, hanging from the ceiling. Some have stairs to examine the cockpit and one you can climb into for pictures. The history of the airfield is also enjoyable. However they suggest that it is the site of a former aircraft memorabilia stockpile. Where did all that cool stuff go?!? I want to see. Also World War II receives little discussion. Some interactive areas and displays for kids. There are four stamps in the main exhibition hall. Three with various aircraft and one postcard style with five colors. 520 yen entrance fee. Parking free for two hours. The parking lot seemed to have space when I departed in the early afternoon. There also might be free street parking (the signs say no, but lots of cars there).

Tokorozawa Aviation Museum is an excellent place to learn about the history of airplanes and helicopters. The exhibits are very educational and presented in a way that even children can enjoy, making it a very child-friendly environment. The ticket price is low and definitely worth it—I recommend everyone to buy the tickets. Inside, you can even sit inside a real airplane, try an airplane simulation game, and enjoy many more interactive experiences. Overall, it’s one of the best places to visit for both families and aviation enthusiasts.
Suman C — Google review
Small museum but lots of cool aircraft. There’s a sim as well and some other related exhibits like ATC and some aviation history related stuff.
Eric W — Google review
Nice museum but not too big - only 8-9 planes indoor and the Commando outside. Unfortunately, the museum covers only post war planes. So, no Zero and other famous (and brilliant) japanese made planes from WW2. Overall, the ride from DT Tokyo is quite long (90min per way) and I wouldn’t invest that much time for this again.
Roland Z — Google review
Amazing!!! Exceeded expectations, great day out for a 43 degree heat outside for families…. It was worth the 3hr drive in heavy traffic to get here I would come back again it’s that good ! Flight simulator, planes to sit in and a movie theater and interactive games and workshops and only ¥840 for adult kids free below 6 years
Richard B — Google review
Good place to visit! The price is cheap around $ 5.7 for adult including the movie theater ticket.

Very nice place with nice collection of aircraft with hands on experience. They have a small movie theatre as well. With the ticket you can have a re-entry as food is not allowed inside. Huge park outside the museum.

Water & Amusement Parks
Theme park
Seibuen Amusement Park offers a nostalgic experience with its Shōwa era theme. The park features a variety of classic rides and attractions, including a Godzilla attack ride and an Astro Boy attraction based on the popular Osamu Tezuka manga. In addition to retro classics, visitors can enjoy modern amenities such as a lazy river, wave pool, and water slides during the summer months. The park also hosts lively water battles during the day and captivating fireworks displays in the evening.
This is a amusement park that is based on nostalgic theme (Showa Era) The theme, performances and rides are mostly leisure based and it's really different from that of Disneyland or Universal Studio. Overall it was a great place to visit especially if you want to experience nostalgia. Date: 22 November 2024

This park was a lot more enjoyable than I expected it to be. I came here a few years ago, but it has changed a lot since then. The style of the park turned very retro and the theme made my mother nostalgic. Even though we went on a Thursday, mid June (there were not many people) the employees still performed amazing shows that kept the mood of the park fun. I would definitely recommend going here if you are visiting Japan! (Also, I would recommend going on a weekday, so you can avoid messy lines)
Yorika ( — Google review
Great amusement park with 8D short film of (Ultraman, Godzilla) , varieties of rides and it was quiet as it was a weekday so no queue for us . The view from the observation tower was beautiful . You just pay for car parking using the parking machine before you enter the amusement park.
Missy C — Google review
Older amusement park and we went to check out Ultraman's movie/ride. For the nostalgia it is a great spot to visit... The cast members performance is 5/5, amazing. They are 100% committed to their roles and love their dedication. When we got there, we were promptly greeted and guided to the right spot. He even offered to take our picture. I wish I had his name... Older gentleman. Most rides were open and some closed and we didn't mind it at all. We went on a weekday and it was pretty empty but worth the trip out. Unfortunately they didn't have the Ultraman and instead had Godzilla movie/ride and that was awesome. It was pretty intense and also loved it.
Will — Google review
Had the most fun time at Seibuen! Saw lots of families but also plenty of couples like ourselves (late 20’s) having fun on all the rides! 5 stars as we did have a really fun time and also because the staff there are exceptional! We arrived at about 1ish and went to the ticket desk to purchase tickets and the lady informed us that Godzilla will be starting soon and Ultraman will close in 5 minutes. She asked if we would want to see ultraman and I said we would but that it’s no problem if not (we are bigger Godzilla fans). She spoke to the ride operators and they agreed to hold the ride for us so we could experience Ultraman, we went through the gates and were escorted directly there! 10/10, would never get that service here in the UK!
Emily P — Google review
The 5D movie and the Shouwa Street was pretty cool. It might be an ok place for kids, but I don't think it worth as much for adults considering the ticket price.

Nature & Parks
Park
Tokorozawa Aviation Memorial Park spans 50 hectares and is a must-visit for aviation enthusiasts. The park houses the Tokorozawa Aviation Museum, which offers a close-up look at vintage aircraft and provides insight into Japan's aviation history. The expansive grounds, once an airfield, now feature leafy paths, sports courts, and a playground for locals to enjoy.
Tokorozawa Aviation Memorial Park is a wonderful place to spend time with family and friends. The park is very large, peaceful, and clean, with plenty of open green spaces for walking, picnics, and relaxation. It’s also child-friendly, with playgrounds and areas where kids can run around safely. Inside the park, there is the Tokorozawa Aviation Museum, where you can learn about the history of airplanes and helicopters. The combination of nature and history makes this park very special. I highly recommend visiting—it’s one of the best places for a relaxing day and also for learning about Japan’s aviation history.

Big and fantastic park in Tokorozawa area. It is very near from Koku koen station on seibu Shinjuku line. It contains free and paid games for kids, wide green areas, aviation museum.

Awesome park with something for everyone. Lots of beautiful old growth trees, fields, running/walking and biking routes, sports fields, basketball courts, large children's playground area, and peaceful gardens/pond, and a few food trucks. Plenty of drinking fountains for people and pets alike throughout the park. We've seen periodical swap/flea market. Multiple parking areas that are free for the first couple hours any day of the week. General park area seems to be accessible 24/7 with free admission.

Very wide open park with an aviation related museum and many other things to see. Nice during cherry blossom season. Parking for fee for cars, but motorcycles can park for free in dedicated parking area next to northern ‘museum’ car parking. Motorcycles can enter to the left (when entering) of the car parking gate. Exit from the same lane.

Scenic spot
Nature & Parks
Sayama Lake, also known as Yamaguchi Reservoir, is an artificial reservoir completed in 1934 to supply Tokyo's water needs. Located between the cities of Tokorozawa and Iruma, it is surrounded by the prefectural Sayama Nature Park, home to 20,000 cherry trees that blossom in spring. The serene spot offers opportunities for picnics, leisurely strolls, birdwatching and boat rentals. Visitors can enjoy scenic views of Mt.
It is indeed a neat place to go to unwind and escape the busy city. Either you go early in the morning or during sunset, the view will still be interesting. You can also bring some snacks and drinks if you will be chilling around! (ig: @tamasiro)

This was a nice park to take a stroll through or ride a bike. Its nice and quiet so its great place for a picnic or to allow your children play. There's not a whole lot of playground equipment but there is some. Also there's a beautiful view of Sayama lake. It doesn't cost anything to enter so its a nice free trip. And just in case your wondering, you can't access that bridge with the pointy building. It seems to belong to the water company. I recommend this park if you're in the area.
Kelly J — Google review
Sayama Lake, originally called Yamaguchi Lake, is a man-made reservoir that was built using an earthen dam, which was completed in 1929. Due to a lack of heavy earth-moving equipment in Japan at that time, the dam was constructed mostly by farmers who used picks and shovels. The majority of the workers were farmers hired to do the work after the growing season had come to a close. A total of 1,720 villagers were forced to leave their homes to make way for the dam as demand for fresh water increased with a population explosion in Tokyo. During WWII, the embankment of the dam was reinforced with ballistic-resistant concrete and the towers were reinforced with a bullet-proof exterior as measures against the Tokyo air raids. The design of the intake towers was heavily influenced by the trends of western architecture that were poplar in Japan in the early 20th century, as can be seen by the use of red bricks on the exterior, copper roofing, and artistic design elements above the doorway to the tower's interior. Although the bridge is currently painted white, early color photos from many decades ago show a bridge painted in a copper-red coat of paint, which makes it look like a miniature version of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. On the occasion that the reservoir is partially drained for maintenance work on the water intake towers, remnants of the villages that were submerged can still be seen. Since the reservoir is used to provide fresh water to the residents of Tokyo, the lake itself is off limits to any human activity in the water: no swimming, no boating, no fishing, etc. The hills surrounding the lake are also off limits. Except for the promenade running across the top of the dam, high fencing with several bands of barbwire encircle the rest of the hills that feed water into the lake. The lack of human access has created a small oasis of natural habitat where various species of insects, birds, mammals and flora can flourish. ★★Check out the Pix4Japan YouTube channel for a short video highlighting the vibe of this location.★★

This place is worth visiting! Its view is pleasing to the eye and so relaxing. I wrote about this on my blog (thepinayajumma.com). Please check it out. I would have given it a 5-star rate if it wasn’t for the accessibility. It’s accessible by train but tricky to get there from the station. I think more English signs should be put up for clear guidance.

(Translated by Google) First time using it. Came there for lunch on a weekday with just one group. Ordered a regular lunch. Appetizer plate, pasta, dessert, and drink cost just under 2,000 yen. The menu says, ``If you're in a hurry, please give us a call,'' but since the place was empty, I didn't think it would take that long, so I didn't call. All four of us ordered the same lunch, but with different pastas. Appetizers came about 10 minutes after ordering and we finished them quickly while talking. The appetizer plate was okay. I took a photo. After that, for almost an hour, the plate was not cleared and the pasta did not come. Just when we were no longer able to have a good conversation and I was starting to get irritated, I finally had pasta. The pasta that came out after waiting had a disappointing taste... I also stopped making advances to those around me... The opposite is also true. I didn't even take a photo of the pasta. I have a knife and fork but no spoon so I can't drink the leftover pasta sauce. I didn't want to have to wait another hour, so I asked for the dessert and drinks to be served as soon as the pasta arrived. The staff's attitude was also not very good, so it's unlikely that I would use it a second time. I understand why there are almost no customers on weekday afternoons. It may be his style to serve the food late even though he seems to be busy, but if the customer had finished eating, how about clearing the plate? Shouldn't we have a conversation and check on the next offer? I don't have much experience, but this was clearly a losing store.

Use coupon Order cheese in hamburger & fried shrimp (917 yen → 458 yen) + rice A set, daily soup (301 yen, free refills) + raw medium (485 yen → 323 yen) + late-night charge (10% food and beverage charge) (excluding tax). The cheese in hamburger is hearty and has cheese, and the fried shrimp is delicious with tartar sauce. The daily soup (chicken-flavored egg and corn soup) is easy to drink, but the taste is average. I was satisfied because I was able to eat at a reasonable price. Thank you for the meal. I came to the store at 22:40 for the first time in about a year, and it was crowded with customers. Use coupon Order from Local Gourmet Grand Prix: Soft Beef Tongue Stew Rice/Daily Soup Set (1,499 yen → 1,199 yen), Sausage Grill (199 yen), (449 yen → 179 yen) + Late-night charge (10% food and beverage charge) (excluding tax). Crispy grilled sausage, hot and perfect for beer snacks. It's a pity that the main beef tongue stew and the accompanying shimeji mushrooms are out of stock. The thickly-sliced beef tongue is simmered in a rich demi-glace sauce and simmered until tender, with an outstanding taste and texture. Anyway, it goes well with rice. Thank you for the meal. Gyudon restaurant
Matsuya, a gyudon restaurant, operates from 5:00 to 3:00 the following day. The establishment appears to be relatively quiet during certain times of the day due to its location and reliance on car traffic. The restaurant's interior is of average size. One notable feature is their offer of free refills for set meals, making it convenient for customers who wish to have multiple servings in one sitting.
(Translated by Google) I went in around 19:40 on Saturday, June 21st. There didn't seem to be many people inside, but there were a few people waiting to get takeout. From what I saw in the kitchen, it looked like there were only two people running the place, and there were a lot of plates piling up, so they looked very busy. ←Maybe they should hire more staff? I ordered the Uma Matoma Hamburger Set and waited about 15 minutes ←It was delicious, so it was fine. (Translated by Google) The bottled beer was really cold. It's a hot and sweaty season, but this cold beer smeared down my throat. First of all, I was very satisfied: it was cold, delicious, and moisturizing. After that, I quietly ordered the same beef yakiniku set meal. It's a salad that comes with a set meal, but I think everyone probably enjoys it with French dressing. I like to eat it, so I put French dressing around the outside and ponzu sauce in the middle. When you eat the outside and the inside together, it has a very subtle taste. I'm making fun of that. I have nothing to say about the beef yakiniku. The degree of heat varies depending on the store, and at this store, they cook it until it's a deep char. The meat will become tougher as it is grilled, but this is tolerable. Dip it in ponzu sauce, stir in the rice, and then wash it down with miso soup. Eating a small amount of rice clears the lingering aroma of miso soup in your mouth and throat. It was delicious today too.

Before it was handed over to me, I had a bad feeling when the older sister of the clerk asked the clerk, who was probably serving the gyudon, "Is this a large serving?" but I should have checked on the spot. . Is it a scam to get a large bowl with rice visible? I have no good memories of this Matsuya at all. It's convenient because it's in the direction I'm heading home, so I stop by occasionally, but I'll never go there again. Dear sister, you are right, thank you for confirming this. I think the store clerk who put it on the plate is an idiot. It looks like there aren't many, right? Don't you know the difference between a normal size and a large size? Too much lack of sense Quit! Due to its location, I think most people come by car, so it may be empty depending on the time of day. I think the inside of the store is a standard size. This store also offers free refills of rice for set meals, and I personally feel that Matsuya has become much more convenient for both breakfast and dinner (you can eat 2-3 cups in one meal).

Italian restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Japan, Napoli no Kamado is a delightful Italian eatery that offers generous portions at reasonable prices. The highlight here is undoubtedly their authentic Neapolitan pizza, which has garnered rave reviews for its simplicity and flavor. While the menu could benefit from a wider variety, the quality remains impressive. The dining experience is enhanced by friendly service typical of Japanese hospitality, although tech-savvy ordering via tablets may not appeal to everyone.
Service and foods are excellent. Their Caesar salad is the most delicious I ate with the fresh cheese,

Food was good and very generous portions for the price. Pizza was simple Napolitano, to be sure, but variety could have been greater. Service was good, typical for Japan, but having to order everything from the tablet could be off-putting to the tech-averse (read: some old people). Not in my party, but I did notice they had space and the access for a wheelchair-bound patron, which is awesome. One other note, the food and drink came rather quick, but the dessert took considerably longer after we had clearly finished.

I come here every time I visit japan. The food is great for the price and the waiting staff is friendly and really quick. I can wholeheartedly recommend the caesar salad, the pasta and the pizza.

The waitresses are some real small-town cuties. Probably doing a regiment of swimming, aerobics and badminton to stay in nice pizza tossing shape. I don't eat pasta with fish eggs in the sauce, and I discovered in not all about the pizza with shellfish on it. But everything else was banging. 5 stars.

(Translated by Google) The parking lot is quite large. I went there during the weekday lunch hour, and there were quite a few customers. First, you choose whether you want a counter or a table on the monitor, and then you wait until you find your spot. I was able to get in right away. The interior was very stylish, with a wood-grain design. The restaurant was spacious. The menu was easy to understand. You could also choose half and half. Soup, salad, pizza, dessert, and a drink all came for less than 2,000 yen. It's cheap. The pizza wasn't bad either. I should have asked, though. I ordered an anchovy and olive pizza, but I don't think it had any anchovies. Maybe the olives were too strong. I couldn't taste the distinctive anchovy flavor at all, so it was very disappointing. The tiramisu that came with the set wasn't very tasty either. It was watery. When I scooped it up, there was water at the bottom. As expected of a stylish restaurant, the taste wasn't great, which was disappointing. I think this is a great place for families to come and enjoy a variety of dishes.
