2 employees at betting counters. Speaking to the male, he was eating a bag of chips and some was spitting out as he spoke. You'd think he would adjust but he kept eating and talking. Later, we approached the lady and she was pleasant and helpful. One table had the pedestal unattached. Could have been disaster with drinks. However, staff was nice and races were on time and fun. We'll go back next season.
Peter K — Google review
It was a first time here for the whole family!! What a great time!! Parking was free, entry was free. The food was reasonably priced. The horse races were great! And the weiner dogs races were super fun/funny as well! We didn't bet any money as we wanted to see what happens first. We will definitely be coming back in August for the basset hound races!!
Amber L — Google review
We had a good time at Fort Erie Racetrack. The kids really enjoyed themselves and it was a fun outing overall. The food was on the pricier side, and the crowd was very scarce, which made the atmosphere a little quieter than expected. Still, it was a nice day out and worth the visit.
Scott S — Google review
What a blast. We went to a food truck race festival. The horses were so beautiful. The roast pig was out if this world. Staff are lovely. Can't wait to go back!
Melissa S — Google review
Amazing staff, good food, for holidays they get right into it and decorate!! Not only can you enjoy some food inside or outside but you can also watch some horse races!!!

I have so much fun here. Free parking. All ages welcomed. Betting only for age 18 or more. Have food stall at reasonable price. Nice ticket ladies to help us as we have known noyhing about racing and betting. 'The Beatles' bands live performance after all the racing.

Had a fun time. Food options are very limited, wish more people could visit, I know it will not get back its former glory but it deserves better.

What a great Fort, and way to learn about the War of 1812. My grandmother used to bring me here in 1968. Fort is still as historically relevant and charming as ever. Great way to teach children about an often forgotten war.

Old Fort Erie is a national historic landmark located on 350 Lakeshore Rd. in Fort Erie, Ontario. The fort is very well preserved and in immaculate condition. There are daily tours, musket demonstrations and annual special events like the Siege of Old Fort Erie reenactment and the Speaker Series. There is a historic monument commemorating, the fallen soldiers of the war of 1812 in addition to a museum with much historical information relating to the Ford as well as the war of 1812. The site is a true pleasure to visit. Tickets are required and parking is free. The Fort is located on an elevated area overlooking the Niagara river and Lake Erie and the city of Buffalo absolutely spectacular views and wonderful visit to this historical landmark. I highly recommend.

Really cool historical site and totally worth visiting! Old Fort Erie gives you such an interesting glimpse into Canada’s history and the War of 1812. The staff and guides are amazing — super friendly, knowledgeable, and really bring the stories to life with their passion and details. 🏰🇨🇦 The re-enactments and demonstrations make it even more engaging, and the layout of the fort is well preserved, so you can actually picture how soldiers lived back then. There’s a nice mix of indoor exhibits and outdoor areas to explore, plus great views of the Niagara River. It’s quiet, educational, and surprisingly fun — great for both history buffs and families. Definitely recommend stopping by if you want to experience a different side of Niagara beyond the waterfalls!
Khuram S — Google review
My boys and I had a great time and experience here at old fort Erie. We watch an episode of ghost adventures that was filmed here. They were super excited. The musket demonstration was fantastic.

Well worth a visit. Under 18s free. Staff excellent. Information video to start and then a costume dressed guide takes you round. We had Ethan and he was so good. Very informative. My kids loved it here. Lovely gift shop area and small cafe. Excellent parking, loads of space, even for RVs. Easy to get to. We visited before we crossed into the USA on our road trip. It's a great stop on this route as it's so close to the customs border. Great place to soak up some history.
Charlotte D — Google review
We had an excellent time at the fort complex. It began with a ~20 minute film on the fort and war of 1812 followed by a tour of the entire fort. The tour took over an hour, and our guide”Sarah “ did a great job and patiently answered our questions. We also saw a musket firing. There were other displays set up in fort buildings to see on our own. Reenactors dressed in period clothing. After that walked through a very modern and well laid out museum with artifacts and soldiers stories. Has a nice cafe and gift shop. Good, free parking onsite.

This is a beautiful War of 1812 fort with adjacent museum. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Be sure to take in the reenactments. Be prepared for loud weaponry demonstrations. There is a gift shop and small cafe. Perfect for history buffs.

Great spot for a walk about. Relocated train station from Ridgeway. Locomotive. And plane in Sugarbowl Park with dog park, pond, walking park and lots of green space. Beautiful

I visited here as a spontaneous stop on a pleasant road trip. Small little gift shop, interesting historical information, learned a lot of information about the area. We paid no fees.
Jackie W — Google review
I wish it were bigger and had more info about the history of the place. Great old engine that is sitting there but not much else to discover. I believe the old Grand Trunk Line was not far from this site.
Tim Z — Google review
There's a huge locomotive train to see! (Nothing else)😆 but it is worth 👌🏽
VindiA D — Google review
We had a great experience here. It was a bit of a short visit, but my son really loved it. Shout out to the gift shop for having lots of toys at affordable prices. My only warning is that the gift shop only takes cash so I can only spend the few dollars I had in my pocket otherwise I probably would’ve spent more to be honest.
Brandon L — Google review
If you have a small child, this is one of those places that you’ll only ever leave when you’ve reached the point that you simply need to drag them away screaming (I mean that as a positive, not a negative). It shares a property with the fire station, where they have a small fire truck that your child can get in. At the fire station they gave us a colouring book, plastic helmit, rub-on tattoo, and badge sticker. There’s also a vintage plane on display across the parking lot. We went when it was “closed” on a Monday. This did not matter, as the only place that was off-limits was the inside of the old train station, which has some displays but was not strictly necessary to enjoy the site. All-told: your 3-7 year-old will love it. And there are plaques with information around the train that are also interesting to the grown-ups!

Fun little museum great for kids and railway lovers.

This was one of the places we would always stop at when my family and I would travel to the Niagara Region for our summer vacation when I was a kid. Stopped in to reconnect with my youth as well as with the memory of my dad (he used to work as a fireman on 4-8-4s out of Hornpayne back in the day). It was a bit of an emotional visit. Sadly to to preservation work being done/needed you can't enter the locomotive cab or the caboose at this time.

Family restaurant
Green Acres Family Restaurant is a classic eatery that has been serving up burgers, sandwiches, fried fish, and desserts since 1961. Recently visited on April 23rd, 2022, it was discovered that the restaurant has reopened and is once again welcoming customers. The Fish Fry ordered on this particular visit was cooked to perfection and accompanied by delicious Italian Wedding Soup and French Fries.
This was my first time visiting Canada and was so excited to find a local, family spot to grab a bite before heading home. The environment is really friendly and the staff are super helpful and prompt. Our server Jack was an absolute delight and super patient while we took our time trying to choose from the awesome list of options. The food was absolutely delicious! We ordered the steak and bacon poutine, a side of coleslaw, the Greek burger and the buffalo chicken sandwich. The portions were incredible and super filling. Everything had great flavor and was super fresh. Definitely a great place to stop in whether you need a snack or are ready for a full meal!

Absolutely fabulous. Took my 85 yr old mother in law here for her first time and she was blown away with the huge portions, friendly atmosphere and great service. She had the liver & onions, my husband had the seafood combo (shrimp & scallops) and your truly had the meatloaf. The liver came with 2 LARGE pieces ( we took 1 pc home) and my meatloaf came with THREE pieces (we took 1 pc home). Highly recommend 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

A comfortable family style restaurant that has nothing to prove…. The food does this for itself! Large portions of homemade roast beef, tender chicken sandwiches, traditional turkey dinner with stuffing and half chicken dinners with several sides to choose from included. Fast, friendly service. It’s a local staple for Niagara.
Andrea T — Google review
If I could give 10 stars I would for Green Acres Restaurant which is the hidden gem in Niagara. If you remember home cooking and baking and dinner with family back 40 years ago you would feel like you were home again. My husband had the Chicken Parmesan sandwich which comes with a side of excellent tomato sauce and I ordered the Roast Beef on a Kaiser sandwich. My roast beef sandwich had about 3-1/2” of slow roasted beef and a side of home made beef gravy! Jackson is a great server with excellent communication. If you live in Niagara “You Gotta Go”. Lorie H

Italian restaurant
The Barrel Restaurant is a cozy eatery that offers a delightful blend of traditional Italian and American comfort foods, along with souvlaki, fried dishes, and a well-stocked bar. This homey establishment has gained a loyal following over the years, with visitors returning multiple times even during short vacations. The attentive service provided by Zena and Debbie ensures that families feel welcomed and well taken care of.
We found this restaurant on Google Maps with excellent ratings. When we arrived, the interior looked quite unassuming, but the restaurant completely exceeded our expectations. It has a cozy, homey atmosphere, and the vintage tools from the ‘70s give you the feeling of being not just at home, but in a truly unique place. The portion sizes were incredibly generous. I ordered extra mushrooms and extra meatballs with my pasta, and I’ll be having it for dinner and breakfast too! An absolutely fantastic place—if you get a chance to stop by, definitely do it. The service was outstanding; all the staff were attentive, and even the manager came over to make sure we were happy.

A nice spot in Fort Erie. Met Constantine, who owns it with his family. The pizza is very good. And the Greek Salad was delicious. But the best part is all the photos of old movie comedians - Laurel & Hardy, Abbott & Costello, snd Charlie Chaplin. Right up my alley! It's my new place to eat when passing through Fort Erie.

My residents recommend I eat here after living in Fort Erie for 2 1/2 yrs and never been. I have one word……EXCELLENT! Everything was AMAZING from the servers to the food to the atmosphere. I am definitely returning! ☺️ My son loves pizza and now he says this cheese pizza is now on the top of his list beating Little Caesar

Always a great experience when I eat here. My late Gramma loved to eat here and I love to come every time I'm in town, both for memories and the food. Everyone is always lovely, and the food is always delicious. The Barrel will forever hold a special spot in my heart. 10/10

Amazing. Fast service. Great Food. Even better price for the quality 👌 Fettuccine Alfredo was SO cheesy and creamy. Crispy chicken is Crispy on the outside ans warm on the inside. Yum 😋 PS. Food is all gone and this is all I had to take pictures of.
Pascal D — Google review
Great atmosphere. Wasn't seated at the best table, not from lack of option. But I was right near the service booth. Otherwise, fast service at lunch and staff is always nice. Lunch for 3 cost us 80+. Considering son only wanted an extra salad with his kids meal pizza we ended up spending an extra $6 for a garden salad. So not great value. But the food is consistently good. Love the lighting, never triggers my headaches.
Tara T — Google review
We went here the Friday before Thanksgiving after not bringing able to get into another restaurant because of the long wait. It was packed but we were seated right away and had all of our food (including salads, appetizer and entrees) within 15 minutes of ordering. The waitress was fantastic and food was great. I have no real complaints but I for atmosphere I gave 4 stars because well it is good, the tables are quite close together and walk ways are cramped so sadly this place is not the best for those in a wheel chair or with a mobility disability. However they are so welcoming I’m sure they would accommodate if you called ahead.

If you're looking for a laid-back dining experience, Chuck's Roadhouse Bar & Grill is the place to be. From the moment you step inside, you'll feel right at home with its welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff who go above and beyond to ensure your meal is perfect. The menu features mouthwatering dishes, particularly their expertly cooked steak that’s juicy and flavorful. Portions are generous, making it an excellent value for your money.
New ownership seems to be working for this place. As the food, service, and menu offerings were all better than usual. Food took a little time to come out, but it was worth the wait. Good deals for happy hour and even very fair pricing on the regular menu options. After 9 p.m., their apps are 50% off. Drinks, mixers, and cocktails are good too. Definitely visiting again.

I had the pleasure of dining at Chuck's roadhouse, Fort Erie last night, and I can’t say enough good things about my experience! The food was absolutely amazing—each dish was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The portions were generous, making it a fantastic value for the quality offered. The service was impeccable as well. The staff was attentive and friendly, ensuring that we had everything we needed throughout our meal. It’s clear that the owner and team take great pride in what they do. I really don’t understand why some people leave negative reviews for this gem! I literally don't know what do they expect 😏. But for me and my family this place was beyond expectations. If you’re looking for a wonderful dining experience, I highly recommend this location to everyone. All steak lovers must come and try this place💯 Thank you to the owner and the entire team for a memorable evening! I really appreciate the great hospitality and a free desert by the owner at the end of our meal😋.

From the moment I walked in, the vibe was relaxed and welcoming. The staff were super friendly and made sure everything was just right. I ordered the steak, and it was cooked perfectly juicy, tender, and full of flavour. The prices were more than fair for the quality you get, and the portions definitely don’t disappoint. Great spot whether you’re out with friends, on a casual date, or just craving some good eats in a chill setting. I’ll definitely be coming back Chuck’s knows how to do it right. 👏🔥

Good food and super friendly staff. Great suggestions and service. Just a traveler passing through who appreciates a good meal.

Came here with my grandparents and had a lovely lunch! The server was more than kind as well. Only reason for the missing star is because we've come here a few times and the steaks arent always cooked to our liking, usually more on the rare side than what we prefer. Flavour is still great regardless and we will continue to visit!

The service and atmosphere are good. The food could be better. They serve thin stakes which are delicious. I have ordered an "upgrade" from fries to mushed potatos for additional $4 and they brought me a mushed potato which tested like it is made out of potato powder.

Chinese restaurant
Happy Jack's Restaurant & Patio is a family-owned establishment that offers a variety of authentic Chinese dishes. Situated beside the Niagara River, it provides guests with a pleasant outdoor dining experience where they can enjoy picturesque views of the river and the Peace Bridge. The restaurant also boasts glimpses of Buffalo on the other side, adding to the overall charm. The food is flavorful, though some may find it slightly salty. One notable dish is their delicious Lemon Chicken, while others praise their chicken fried rice.
Revisited Happy Jack’s for the first time in a long time! It was crazy busy but our good arrived quickly & it was very good! We had the Cantonese Chow Mein & Sizzling Cantonese Pork, both were very tasty, especially after a long day on the water! Lots of young bus boys/girls who were great at getting drinks, clearing tables etc.!

We had a great experience at Happy Jack’s in Fort Erie! The service was amazing—friendly, fast, and attentive. We ordered the Dinner for 2 and added sweet and sour chicken to our meal. Everything was fresh, hot, and absolutely delicious. You can really taste the quality in every dish. We’ll definitely be coming back again!

North American Chinese food done better than the rest. If I lived closer I’d weight 700lbs, but when I’m in Fort Erie and I have the time I do my best to stop in for lunch or dinner. Prices are very affordable, portions are plentiful, service is 5 star and the food is so so so tasty 😋 Their fried rice is the best hands down in Canada 🇨🇦 I travel the country north to south, east to west and always try to find the best Chinese food. This place is a gem 💎 you will love it.
Matt M — Google review
We ate dinner at Happy Jack’s last night as part of a tour bus group. Various platters of Chinese dishes were served family style to each long table of about 10-12 people. The dishes included 2 platters each of: noodles, fried rice, beef & broccoli, orange chicken, tempura shrimp, chicken & broccoli, bean sprouts & vegetables, chicken/pork/shrimp &.vegetables, hot tea, water, and fortune cookies. There was plenty of food. Some of the platters still had food left on them. I do wish at least one of the dishes would have been a spicy dish, such as kung Pao chicken. The dining room consisted of long tables.

We have eaten at happy jacks a number of times ( inside). Today we ordered a meal for 5 plus a general toas chicken. I don’t know if there was a different cook but the food was uneatable. The chicken as very dry and tasted very old All of it the sweater and sour, the lemon and the general toas all crunchy dry. The rice was burnt to the point where we had to throw it out Very disappointed with the pick up order For $170 the quality should be a lot better. You are able see all the burn specials in the photo

I was the winner of one of the weekly gift certificates from Happy Jack's. We used it tonight and would like to say that everything was great. Placing the order to pick up was seamless. The food was hot, fresh, delicious and a very generous portion. We ordered a combination plate and it fed 2, with leftovers. My family highly recommends Happy Jack's to everyone

Mary is an absolute gem and took such good care of us. Recommended the feature Caesar which we then had to try. Spicy with a Buffalo chicken slider on top...WOW! Shrimp Gumbo and the wings were fantastic. Lot more to try on their menu so definitely going back to see Mary.

South Coast has consistently excellent food and service. They have a large menu and I’ve tried nearly all of it. Definitely something for everyone, and their appetizer selection is amazing. Perfect for a group of friends. Rotating craft beers on tap! Fun cocktails. 10/10 Caesars! They have fantastic live entertainment and a fun late night party atmosphere, but also have a great kids menu and are family friendly. They have an eclectic multi-functional private banquet room for larger parties or events. It’s also really cozy just to grab a seat at the bar by yourself. This restaurant is suitable for any occasion and any company, bachelorette party or quiet lunch with grandma (homemade soups! fish’n’chips!), and they’re reliably open 7 days a week year round. Seriously, what more could you ask for? Forever my favourite ❤️
