Cape Hawke Lookout, situated on the edge of the Great Lakes, offers breathtaking 360-degree views of the coastline. This spot is perfect for whale watching in winter and dolphin spotting. It's also a popular location for early morning birdwatching as migratory birds often rest here during their journey south. Accessible via a 440-meter steep path, it is known as the highest viewpoint in Forster and provides an ideal vantage point to observe humpback whales from land.
A great view and not too strenuous if you take your time!
Benjamin R — Google review
Mozzie alert ☹️ I should have read reviews before we trekked up to the lookout. We were attacked! So take repellent. The 360 degree view is a bit of a stretch as we could only see through the trees to Forster. Trees prevented any other views but we all felt it was worth it for that view 😁
Annette C — Google review
Fairly easy walk up to the lookout where you need to climb up a few sets of stairs. You can see views to Main beach, unfortunately, the trees have grown and impeded the views south and west towards the lake. There were also swarms of mozzies++!! (April)
Kate S — Google review
Lovely view. Very peaceful. To reach the lookout you will need to climb stairs for 15 to 20 mins depending on your fitness level. There are seats for rest along the way. I absolutely needed them. At the top is a lookout tower. It looks out over Forster on one side, and the ocean on the other.
Ernie S — Google review
Good lookout, the hike up is about 15min at a leisurely pace, mainly dirt stairs, there are benches to sit on along the way, mozzies are quite bad so bring your mozzie spray. The trees are getting tall but can still see enough.
Emma B — Google review
Really nice hike, the sign says 15-20 minutes but it only took us about 10 to walk and we weren’t that fast. Lots of mosquitos so go in prepared, we didn’t know! Beautiful views and so worth it
Leah S — Google review
Incredible views! Short walk up, all stairs but very worth it.
Zane A — Google review
As a bigger girl, I was very glad that there were benches along the way to the lookout to have a rest. Once getting there the view was nice but could have been better. I just think if some of the trees were trimmed a down a little the view from the lookout would be even better as I thought they were in the way.

Beach
Forster Beach, also known as Forster Main Beach, is a well-liked sandy destination offering various activities such as fishing, surfing, and a designated swimming area. Stretching 563 meters from the Forster break wall to the Ocean Baths, it provides a safe environment for swimming and is perfect for families due to its protection from large waves. Lifeguards are present during the swimming season to ensure safety. Additionally, visitors can find nearby eateries to enjoy after a day of beach fun.
Nice beach, patrolled with flags. We stayed overnight on the way up to Coffs. Kids can play around in the sand and shallow water well. Plenty of parking around or a short walk from our motel. Toilets and showers nearby in Beach Bums cafe where the ramp is.

Beautiful beach, good to stay few days
Xuequn L — Google review
Beautiful and clean beach. Very good for family. Apart from the beach, you can also walk in Bicentennial trail where you can pass pebbly beach, the tanks where you can swim in the natural rock formation area. The trail will also head you to Bennet's head look out and will end to one mile beach.

Good: -Ample parking Bad: -Unclean toilets -No proper changing rooms or anything to hang clothes on in the bathroom. And just one shower. -Not a huge beach. I've seen better ones in forster, however its compace and nice.
Ashwin M — Google review
We love this place, it's not very busy and the water quality is great. Has a couple of nice cafes to visit also. There is a pool if the beach isnt your thing. Has BBQ'S and public toilets also
John C — Google review
visited on my second day on a road trip to Sydney! Beautiful beach and amazing natural swiming pool. Apart from that, there is the other side where there is a river with calm waters.
Danilo M — Google review
Just another great Australian beach. Missing. A fifth star for the crowds during summer peak and the weed that sometimes collects at the south corner. Head up to Beach Bums for a snack, lunch or both after your swim. The ocean pool (aka The Bullring) at the Southern end is a good option for families when the swell is up.
Luke R — Google review
I love this beach and love swimming here especially in the rock pool. The waves are great and big but sometimes they are a bit too big which is alright. The water is normally really nice and warm in summer and the atmosphere is amazing. One thing i don’t like that much is that the life guards go home early around 5pm which can be dangerous for anyone swimming in the waves past then

Beach
Nestled along Burgess Road in Forster, Burgess Beach is a tranquil and secluded coastal gem. This sandy beach is embraced by a lush, vegetation-covered bluff and offers a serene environment for visitors to enjoy. Families can take pleasure in the natural shelter provided by the surrounding landscape and explore the numerous small rock caves dotting the area. While swimming is an option, caution should be exercised due to the presence of rocks.
Last day here at Forster, we checked out Burgess Beach. It looked nice on Google with interesting rocks for photo opportunities and definitely lived up to our expectations. You couldn't swim here. The surf was too huge, but I did find a spot to sit on a rock and it wasn't long before I sat in the sand and let the sea water wash over me. It was very nice indeed. Great for photography!
Aussirose T — Google review
Obviously, insanely beautiful. Idyllic when conditions are just right.
Peter C — Google review
Picturesque little beach with tidal rock pools.
Kylie M — Google review
Beautiful serene and secluded beach. The rocky beach has a character of its own with the waves crashing and falling. Come to the beach if you are looking for some solitude and inspiration. The beach is accessible by a ramp and there is sufficient car park. You might find a few locals fishing or just enjoying a sunset at the beach.
Kanika M — Google review
Beautiful beach in Forster. There is a car park just before the entrance. It you walk to the right, you'll see a view point where you can take beautiful photos of the beach. There aren't bathrooms around.
Giulia W — Google review
We live near Burgess Beach so we went this beach after dinner. Not a big one but still pretty enough. The sand on this beach is interesting. When we are walking on this sand, it sounds like the sand is singing. And this is still a good place to watch sunrise!
Sherry Z — Google review
Beautiful beach! We went there to watch the sunrise which is apparantly the best spot to see it. Pitty it was cloudy but still a lovely morning with interesting rock formations

Lookouts
Bennetts Head Lookout is a stunning coastal viewpoint that offers sweeping vistas of the surrounding cliffs and the Tasman Sea. Situated between Main Beach and Pebbly Beach, it features two viewing platforms providing impressive views from atop a tall cliff wall. The lookout, located at the end of Bennetts Head Rd, offers panoramic sights including One Mile Beach to the south, the hinterland to the west, and Manning Point to the north.
Beautiful short walk with a few lookouts with great views - if you walk along the trail, you’ll reach the Rotary Walk leading to the sand dunes. The sands are soft and clean - a pleasure to walk.
Ls C — Google review
A timeless view out across the Pacific Ocean awaits visitors here. Take the leafy and slightly overgrown path - Forster Council where are you - and emerge at the top of the most magnificent sand dune which cascades down to the beach. You will feel like you’re in a South Pacific Island Paradise but it’s only a five minute drive from Forster town centre. Another example of why we are called the lucky country.
Stuart B — Google review
Wonderful views of the headlands and the waves hitting the rocks. We walked on the lookout as we were considering having our marriage ceremony here in late October. The wind was quite strong tho. As it's a dead end and houses on one side there is limited parking and quite busy at times with tourists
Carole L — Google review
A great lookout accessible via car. It is fairly high and offers great views of the coastline. We were also able to see whales from this lookout, although this will depend on luck and season. The sand dunes of One Mile Beach are nearby.
Jason H — Google review
Awesome view… you will be surprised and the walking trails towards the beach and sand dunes… amazing
Dilip R — Google review
Could use a little cleanup along the path. But the view is amazing and the walk down to beach is nice.
Lynda — Google review
Totally Awesome view from the sturdy deck and fence that extends above the cliff near the southern point. The view is quite spectacular and there are a few select parking spots where the end of the street loops around a grass area with a monument from 1962. Must be visited to be appreciated.

Asian fusion restaurant
Nestled in a breezy locale with stunning views of Wallis Lake, Spice Monkey Forster is a must-visit destination for lovers of Asian fusion cuisine. This charming eatery beautifully marries modern and traditional flavors, showcasing an impressive menu that features everything from tantalizing snack plates to exquisite sushi and sashimi.
Great experience here, I think some reviewers need to note that this is Asian fusion so it's not necessarily aiming to be 100% authentic. All the dishes were fresh, flavourful and delicious. I was particularly impressed with the service. Our eldest son has a peanut allergy and when we communicated this to our server, she checked multiple times with the kitchen to ensure what he wanted to order was safe for him to eat. I think the fact that we were there pretty early in the evening, and on a Sunday night made it easier but I got the impression they would have been just as great about it regardless. First lot of food came out super fast (baos and prawn crackers) and the was a bit of a wait for the next lot but the staff were attentive and checked in to see if we wanted drinks etc while we were waiting. Complimentary fortune cookies were a fun touch, the kids liked those. Highly recommend the Sassy Dragon cocktail, the Gangnam Style bao and the Barramundi main! I wish I'd taken some more photos.
Erin R — Google review
Our family had a fantastic dinner at Spice Monkey. We went there by chance at the end of our day trip. There are not so many kids-friendly places open this late. We came at 5:30pm and enjoyed a quick and professional service, with smiles, quickly served dishes and timely attention. The food was very nice - a little bit for everyone and the atmosphere inspired even our younger ones to try something new. The location is very nice as well, with a river walk and lots of shops, restaurants and cafes nearby. But Spice Monkey is one of the best we have tried in Forster so far.
Vladimir I — Google review
A truly fantastic venue with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Every detail, from the service to the setting, was absolutely delightful. While it stands among the pricier dining options in Forster, the quality more than justifies the cost—you really do get what you pay for.
Richard H — Google review
Restaurant come and go like the seasons change it’s not often a restaurant in Forster can claim ten years. Spice monkey can do that because it stays true to its core values but evolves at the same time. Current menu has trusted favourites but chef Garth has injected some really nice dishes like steamed scallops w XO sauce and brown butter, the Filipino style sinuglaw salad basically a cerviche style snapper w coconut and lime finished with grilled pork Belly a great combination great nori rolls the fushion style food at spice really appeals to Everyone it’s always been good and still is long live spice monkey
Mike J — Google review
Not a bad choice for some better eating when in Forster. Some inconsistency in the quality but overall better than the norm. A good menu with lots to choose from, I have had some delicious, well prepared meals here but sometimes a bit hit and miss. They do cocktails in jugs! Great for large groups but book because it's always busy.
Monique M — Google review
I was really looking forward to visit this restaurant, it's been on my list for quite a while, and I am sad to say that it was a bit of a disappointment. The position is great, with magnificent views of Wallis Lake, but the food is quite ordinary. I tried a variety of dishes, and the best one was the seaweed salad. Delicious! The Takoyaki Dumplings were just ok, not housemade though, and the bonito flakes didn't have any taste, the predominant taste was the mayo. The Teriyaki Maki was nice but the chicken was a bit too dry. But the real disappointment was the Gangnam Style Prawn Bao that didn't stand to its definition of "tempura prawn with Korean spicy red sauce, wombok, shallot and pickled onion" that it is supposed to give you an explosion of flavour. Half of the ingredients mentioned weren't there, only the onion, and the prawns and sauce tasted a bit like they had been mixed with chilli jam sauce. No much flavour on the bun either. And to finish it off, the Malaysian Curry Laksa with hokkien noodles, squid, prawns and chicken was tasty but not the best we've ever tried. We asked if the hokkien noodles could be swapped and they told us we could have rice noodles instead. Well, it didn't happen. We couldn't find the chicken anywhere, and at there was some ingredient that looked like half a small potato but tasted like fish, that we still cannot figure out what it was. All in all, not the best quality food we've ever had, but at a quite expensive price. Maybe the chef had the day off!!

Enjoyed the Special of the Day- Curry Goat. Good crowd for a Wednesday night! BIG pints of Tiger beer, tall G&T plus the benefit of BYO Red Wine. Plenty of elbow room and very friendly, knowledgeable staff.

Restaurant
Nestled in the charming town of Forster, Pezzella’s Pizzeria and Bar is a delightful fusion of Italian tradition and Australian flair. The owners, after a year-long culinary journey through Italy, have brought back authentic recipes that shine through their wood-fired pizzas. This eatery prides itself on using fresh, local produce to create mouthwatering dishes that celebrate simplicity—where less truly is more.
Nice and chill Italian place to relax with your family or friends and share a few pizzas. Menu is small but a lot of good options. Pizzas have generous amount of toppings on them and the crust is very nice and thin! Tap local beer is good too. Would recommend for dine in or takeaway for a chill night out or stayin.
Sabina K — Google review
I loved my bolognaise, they have beers on tap but not too much variety. Definitely worth checking out if you’re visiting Forster.
Finlarion — Google review
Great tasting food, tucked away in a nice little place. Service was a little slow but the staff were friendly and helpful. Excellent variety of pizzas! Definitely something to suit everyone. The small plates were also quite good. Would've loved a lot more variety on pasta choices but the ragu was amazing! All in all, definitely one to visit if you love authentic Italian food!
Vipin K — Google review
The pizza crusts were doughy and undercooked, yet burnt in several spots on both the top and bottom. In some areas, the burnt parts gave a bitter taste. The shrimp on top were extremely salty, and the garlic was burnt, which added even more bitterness.
Dr.Shima K — Google review
Hands down one of the best wood-fired pizzas I’ve had in a long time! The dough was light, perfectly cooked, and the toppings complemented the base beautifully. The gnocchi was equally impressive. I’d come back here time and time again!
Olivia K — Google review
Top notch pizza! Really really impressed with the pizza style and also the combination of toppings, really well executed. Loved the use of local ingredients and suppliers (Burraduc Buffalo Cheese is amazing!) Would go back for any day for the Carciofo (love a white pizza!) And the fried dough starter was incredible. You can tell it is a young team, passionate about what they are doing and giving it a red hot crack! Great beers on tap too!
Hayden Q — Google review
Went with a few friends as a coworker recommended it as pretty good pizza. From the moment we entered we were treated like family. The atmosphere, the food, the drinks and the aroma was magnificent.the pizza was just phenomenal, authentic and tasteful with the right amount of ingredients. It was a feast for the eyes and a full stomach on the way out the door and we couldn’t recommend it more! Thankyou Pezzellas team!

Great pizza place in Forster! Partner and I came in for a dinner on a busy Wednesday evening. Got a great seat at a table by the windows with a view of the sunset over Wallis Lake. The food itself was mostly great, we enjoyed the appetiser thoroughly and the margherita pizza we ordered was exceptional. We were a bit let down by the prawn ravioli which we both felt was a bit bland for our liking. Desert itself was also fair but not the most exceptional. Great selection of drinks from various cocktails to a great variety of beers and wines to choose from. We enjoyed all the cocktails we tried, particularly the basil smash which tasted fresh and crisp! Service was great overall however a bit slow at times, completely understandable considering how busy it was however! Overall it was a great experience for us, we will likely return for the pizza however may try a different pasta next time (the gnocchi pesto looked very enticing and perhaps we should have gone for that instead!). Would recommend :)

The restaurant offers a variety of Mexican dishes including crispy fried flautas, prawn tostadas, ceviche, lobster tacos, chipotle chicken burrito bowls, tacos, nachos and quesadillas. We absolutely loved our whole experience from the food and cocktails to the friendly staff and will definitely be back. Very highly recommended restaurant in a stunning location, we even seen dolphins from our table 🩷.
Briana W — Google review
Food is good for a decent price with large servings. Cocktails were very impressive! Service was the only let down, with minimal diners in the restaurant we had to wait for a while and flag down a waiter to order another drink. The Wednesday special on food was a great surprise.
Melissa H — Google review
The views and sunset were the best thing about this venue - seeing dolphins go by while eating dinner was the icing on top. I think the menu is overpriced for the quanrity you are getting. The quesadilla would have been great if there was more chicken in them and the pork belly bowl had minimal thin slicrs also. If we had shared starters we would have paid double for less food, I guess that is the price to pay for the location
Carlie H — Google review

Did an online order for pickup and OMG, by far one of the nicest meals we have ever had. We began by struggling to decide what to order. The food all looked delicious on the menu. Order was placed and was prepared very quickly. We did a mix of 4 different dishes and dessert. This was a great feed for 2 people. The food was prepared quickly and was fresh. We also ordered a 1L cocktail for takeaway. It was served in a large glass bottle. We felt the contents were a lot less than 1L though, as ice was not added. The cocktail was made fresh and tasted yum. The food was super delicious and service easy exceptional. Authentic food and the restaurant t when collecting had an amazing vibe. Next time we're in Forster we will be returning!

Frank and Teresa pour their hearts into every dish, creating an experience that transcends mere dining; it’s about sharing stories over delectable meals made from fresh ingredients, including zucchini flowers grown on their own farm.
Absolutely first class food, compliments to the kitchen. The food is fabulous without charging like a Michelin Star restaurant like most do these days. The service from the girls was also commendable.

You don’t even need the amazing view when you’re eating traditional Italian perfection. One of the best Italian restaurants I’ve eaten at in a very long time, even since Italy, perhaps. A family affair with lovely local staff too, and the music was great. Very enjoyable, like dining with Dean Martin. Highly recommend!

So good the first time we had to go back later in the week. Mainly choose here as the had lasagna on the menu, one of my son’s favourites. The Marinara and lasagna were excellent so when talking a little later in the week we decided to go again. Pasta again cooked perfectly, sauces considered and balanced. Kids had pizza and the pizzas were also delicious. Service is great, friendly staff and good food. ✅✅✅

Disgusted by the wait time ordering tonight, was told 35 min wait so sat down and waited and after 45 minutes I had to ask how my order was coming, the lady checked and advised it is coming now, 11 minutes later I received my order. A total of 56 minutes!! Alot of screwed up faces from others waiting on takeaway orders and I even witnessed people having to ask if their order was ready when they were already sitting waiting to be collected. The worst part was a family was sat down to dine 5 minutes after I had ordered and received their meals 10 minutes before. I would suggest an extra staff member to run the takeaway side and when a customer orders a garlic ‘bread’ you advise its a garlic ‘pizza’. Customer service is shyte! As I said I won’t be back!

Turkish restaurant
Nestled at the intersection of Europe and the Middle East, Anatolia Turkish Cuisine brings a taste of traditional Turkish fare to Forster, Australia. This delightful eatery has become a beloved spot for locals and visitors alike, offering an array of mouthwatering dishes such as pide, gozleme, shish kebab, and doner kebab. Each meal is crafted with authentic flavors that reflect the rich culinary heritage of Turkey.
We tried something different by going here, to a Turkish restaurant and we absolutely loved it. My partner and I enjoyed a mixed share platter and then can came back the next day and had the BEST mixed snack pack with cheese and sauce. We found that the snack pack was big enough to share between two people for lunch. We would highly recommend. We sat outside and love that this place is dog friendly.

We tried the Mixed Platter Sharing at Anatolia Turkish Cuisine in Forster, and honestly it was disappointing. For $54, the portion size was not sufficient, and both the salad and rice were low quality and tasteless. Definitely not value for money — wouldn’t recommend.
Davis T — Google review
What a little gem! In Forster for the night and we wandered around looking for a place to have dinner. Anatolia's sparkly facade and music caught our eye, and the menu dragged us in. As a vegetarian, Middle Eastern food is normally a good pick, but there were so many delicious options! We got the baba ganoush and a fattoush to share, which were huge servings and delicious. My partner had the iskender plate and I had the fried eggplant/chickpea dish which was huge and delicious. Staff were lovely. I wish they would open up a restaurant in Wollongong! We don't have anything this yummy down there. (Sorry about the pic - I'd already attacked the rice before I remembered to take a photo. 😄)
