The 13 best cheap eats in Forster

All the food that we ordered were totally tasteless as if they didn’t put any salt at all. We ordered fried rice (tasteless), pumpin curry super spice but has no salt, fried hor fun (no salt and tasless) I had to ask for lots of chilli oil to make the fried noodle has a taste. We wasted $150 for 4 dishes such a ripped off. Not to mention the waiter made a mistake with our order. And the restaurant has no air conditioning at all and it’s boiling hot. I will never come and wont recommend this place to anyone.

Our family had a fantastic dinner at Spice Monkey. We went there by chance at the end of our day trip. There are not so many kids-friendly places open this late. We came at 5:30pm and enjoyed a quick and professional service, with smiles, quickly served dishes and timely attention. The food was very nice - a little bit for everyone and the atmosphere inspired even our younger ones to try something new. The location is very nice as well, with a river walk and lots of shops, restaurants and cafes nearby. But Spice Monkey is one of the best we have tried in Forster so far.

A truly fantastic venue with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Every detail, from the service to the setting, was absolutely delightful. While it stands among the pricier dining options in Forster, the quality more than justifies the cost—you really do get what you pay for.

Restaurant come and go like the seasons change it’s not often a restaurant in Forster can claim ten years. Spice monkey can do that because it stays true to its core values but evolves at the same time. Current menu has trusted favourites but chef Garth has injected some really nice dishes like steamed scallops w XO sauce and brown butter, the Filipino style sinuglaw salad basically a cerviche style snapper w coconut and lime finished with grilled pork Belly a great combination great nori rolls the fushion style food at spice really appeals to Everyone it’s always been good and still is long live spice monkey

Not a bad choice for some better eating when in Forster. Some inconsistency in the quality but overall better than the norm. A good menu with lots to choose from, I have had some delicious, well prepared meals here but sometimes a bit hit and miss. They do cocktails in jugs! Great for large groups but book because it's always busy.

I was really looking forward to visit this restaurant, it's been on my list for quite a while, and I am sad to say that it was a bit of a disappointment. The position is great, with magnificent views of Wallis Lake, but the food is quite ordinary. I tried a variety of dishes, and the best one was the seaweed salad. Delicious! The Takoyaki Dumplings were just ok, not housemade though, and the bonito flakes didn't have any taste, the predominant taste was the mayo. The Teriyaki Maki was nice but the chicken was a bit too dry. But the real disappointment was the Gangnam Style Prawn Bao that didn't stand to its definition of "tempura prawn with Korean spicy red sauce, wombok, shallot and pickled onion" that it is supposed to give you an explosion of flavour. Half of the ingredients mentioned weren't there, only the onion, and the prawns and sauce tasted a bit like they had been mixed with chilli jam sauce. No much flavour on the bun either. And to finish it off, the Malaysian Curry Laksa with hokkien noodles, squid, prawns and chicken was tasty but not the best we've ever tried. We asked if the hokkien noodles could be swapped and they told us we could have rice noodles instead. Well, it didn't happen. We couldn't find the chicken anywhere, and at there was some ingredient that looked like half a small potato but tasted like fish, that we still cannot figure out what it was. All in all, not the best quality food we've ever had, but at a quite expensive price. Maybe the chef had the day off!!

Enjoyed the Special of the Day- Curry Goat. Good crowd for a Wednesday night! BIG pints of Tiger beer, tall G&T plus the benefit of BYO Red Wine. Plenty of elbow room and very friendly, knowledgeable staff.

I loved my bolognaise, they have beers on tap but not too much variety. Definitely worth checking out if you’re visiting Forster.

Great tasting food, tucked away in a nice little place. Service was a little slow but the staff were friendly and helpful. Excellent variety of pizzas! Definitely something to suit everyone. The small plates were also quite good. Would've loved a lot more variety on pasta choices but the ragu was amazing! All in all, definitely one to visit if you love authentic Italian food!

The pizza crusts were doughy and undercooked, yet burnt in several spots on both the top and bottom. In some areas, the burnt parts gave a bitter taste. The shrimp on top were extremely salty, and the garlic was burnt, which added even more bitterness.

Hands down one of the best wood-fired pizzas I’ve had in a long time! The dough was light, perfectly cooked, and the toppings complemented the base beautifully. The gnocchi was equally impressive. I’d come back here time and time again!

Top notch pizza! Really really impressed with the pizza style and also the combination of toppings, really well executed. Loved the use of local ingredients and suppliers (Burraduc Buffalo Cheese is amazing!) Would go back for any day for the Carciofo (love a white pizza!) And the fried dough starter was incredible. You can tell it is a young team, passionate about what they are doing and giving it a red hot crack! Great beers on tap too!

Went with a few friends as a coworker recommended it as pretty good pizza. From the moment we entered we were treated like family. The atmosphere, the food, the drinks and the aroma was magnificent.the pizza was just phenomenal, authentic and tasteful with the right amount of ingredients. It was a feast for the eyes and a full stomach on the way out the door and we couldn’t recommend it more! Thankyou Pezzellas team!

Great pizza place in Forster! Partner and I came in for a dinner on a busy Wednesday evening. Got a great seat at a table by the windows with a view of the sunset over Wallis Lake. The food itself was mostly great, we enjoyed the appetiser thoroughly and the margherita pizza we ordered was exceptional. We were a bit let down by the prawn ravioli which we both felt was a bit bland for our liking. Desert itself was also fair but not the most exceptional. Great selection of drinks from various cocktails to a great variety of beers and wines to choose from. We enjoyed all the cocktails we tried, particularly the basil smash which tasted fresh and crisp! Service was great overall however a bit slow at times, completely understandable considering how busy it was however! Overall it was a great experience for us, we will likely return for the pizza however may try a different pasta next time (the gnocchi pesto looked very enticing and perhaps we should have gone for that instead!). Would recommend :)

Loved this place! The view is amazing and the location is perfect. The food was super yummy and the staff were really friendly. Would love to see a few more breakfast options on the menu, but overall a great experience. Definitely coming back!

Great spot right on the beach – you honestly can’t beat the view. Super easy to get to with parking just nearby. Prices are fair for the location, and the vibe is warm and friendly. All in all, a place I’d definitely recommend if you’re after good coffee with a side of ocean breeze.

Super busy over Xmas-New Year holidays. Had a short 10min wait for a table to become free. Really friendly staff and our order came out fast. The quality was tops and the coffee good too! Great location overlooking main beach. The best cafe in Forster by far!

Sits right on Forster Beach so you sit with a sea view. Outdoor dining only but under shade. Approx 20 tables varying size. Popular with locals and tourists alike. Limited menu but good food and coffee. It's quick efficient service. App order at table or counter order. Depends on time of year and day but generally no wait or short but in holiday season can be 10 minutes. Get the views of the beautiful clean beach as are many on the coastline. Atmosphere is relaxed Aussie Cafe eating. Location has public free parking beside cafe. Family friendly. Disability friendly.

Recommended by a local friend for it's kid friendly proximity to the beach. Delivers well, good food, relaxed atmosphere . We had the breakfast menu, good range of food , kids had pancakes and stole my eggs. Smashed avo bagel also awesome. Would recommend

Went on a Tuesday night and I was surprised at how busy the place was, but clearly for the right reasons. The food was delicious. Had the most amazing ragu fettuccine. Highly recommended

You don’t even need the amazing view when you’re eating traditional Italian perfection. One of the best Italian restaurants I’ve eaten at in a very long time, even since Italy, perhaps. A family affair with lovely local staff too, and the music was great. Very enjoyable, like dining with Dean Martin. Highly recommend!

Always a great experience here. The BBQ chicken pizza with extra mushrooms is our favourite, so tasty every time. The staff are always kind and welcoming. What we appreciate most is the consistency.. the food is always top quality, and we leave full and happy. Definitely worth the money.

Good range of Italian food within the beautifully placed restaurant. The elder of the crew was a cool bloke & we bought 5 large pizzas which went down supremely well . Highly recommended for dining in or pick up.

So good the first time we had to go back later in the week. Mainly choose here as the had lasagna on the menu, one of my son’s favourites. The Marinara and lasagna were excellent so when talking a little later in the week we decided to go again. Pasta again cooked perfectly, sauces considered and balanced. Kids had pizza and the pizzas were also delicious. Service is great, friendly staff and good food. ✅✅✅

Bought 3 take away dishes for $79.00 (no seafood). Lasagne, spaghetti pollo milano and fettucine nonnos speciale. Very little lasagne and seemed to be mostly cheese. (See photos).

Disgusted by the wait time ordering tonight, was told 35 min wait so sat down and waited and after 45 minutes I had to ask how my order was coming, the lady checked and advised it is coming now, 11 minutes later I received my order. A total of 56 minutes!! Alot of screwed up faces from others waiting on takeaway orders and I even witnessed people having to ask if their order was ready when they were already sitting waiting to be collected. The worst part was a family was sat down to dine 5 minutes after I had ordered and received their meals 10 minutes before. I would suggest an extra staff member to run the takeaway side and when a customer orders a garlic ‘bread’ you advise its a garlic ‘pizza’. Customer service is shyte! As I said I won’t be back!

We tried the Mixed Platter Sharing at Anatolia Turkish Cuisine in Forster, and honestly it was disappointing. For $54, the portion size was not sufficient, and both the salad and rice were low quality and tasteless. Definitely not value for money — wouldn’t recommend.

We tried something different by going here, to a Turkish restaurant and we absolutely loved it. My partner and I enjoyed a mixed share platter and then can came back the next day and had the BEST mixed snack pack with cheese and sauce. We found that the snack pack was big enough to share between two people for lunch. We would highly recommend. We sat outside and love that this place is dog friendly.

The food was amazing! Since it was my birthday, I wanted to find a nice place to eat, but I'm not a local. I brought my dog with me, and there aren't many dog-friendly places in the area. We ended up sitting outside, and I had low expectations. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The falafel starter was delicious, and the chicken and lamb shish were incredible! We even had people stopping by to ask which dishes we ordered. It was a wonderful meal! I highly recommend this place, and I will definitely return for another visit.

What a little gem! In Forster for the night and we wandered around looking for a place to have dinner. Anatolia's sparkly facade and music caught our eye, and the menu dragged us in. As a vegetarian, Middle Eastern food is normally a good pick, but there were so many delicious options! We got the baba ganoush and a fattoush to share, which were huge servings and delicious. My partner had the iskender plate and I had the fried eggplant/chickpea dish which was huge and delicious. Staff were lovely. I wish they would open up a restaurant in Wollongong! We don't have anything this yummy down there. (Sorry about the pic - I'd already attacked the rice before I remembered to take a photo. 😄)

Food is good for a decent price with large servings. Cocktails were very impressive! Service was the only let down, with minimal diners in the restaurant we had to wait for a while and flag down a waiter to order another drink. The Wednesday special on food was a great surprise.

The sunset was spectacular, and the Mexican restaurant offered delightful sangria along with a great selection of dishes. It's definitely one of the best spots in Forster!

I had my birthday at Si Senorita recently and it was a fabulous experience! The venue has a great vibe, the tequila cocktails are delicious and the food is divine! I highly recommend.

Celebrated son’s 18th birthday with family, catered for 10 People & given best position with beautiful view. Amazing food, great cocktails, brilliant service. We love coming here & loved sharing it with family who live out of state.

I called to ask about gluten-free options and they were so accommodating! We’re happy to make adjustments for my other food allergies as well. I got the burrito bowl with brisket and it was sensational. Excellent service and fantastic food. I will be back next time I’m in the area thank you.

If you are visiting Forster absolutely check this place out. Been here a handful of times when we go on the holiday around this area. View - amazing. Service - bubbly. Food - yummy and fresh(not the most authentic Mexican cuisine but pretty good). Drinks - definitely go here for a few cocktails as their bar has a big selection.

We went on a Saturday afternoon, no booking and yet they accommodated extremely well. Food, Magnificent. Service, Quick. And what we liked most was the timing of the meals being served. Ordered 4 plates and shared all and each with their unique flavour and presentation. Highly recommend the Pop'N'Prawns and the Prawn Spring Rolls. Won't be Disappointed.

Dragons Den offers a fantastic blend of Asian flavours with a modern twist. Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with fresh, bold ingredients. A creative cocktail menu, which paired perfectly with the food. We will definitely keep be coming back!

We would recommend booking a table Friday and Saturday especially. We didn't book prior and was lucky to be offered a table in the walkway of the mall. If you book prior select the outdoor area. On a balmy night the outdoor tables have views of the wharf and water, you might even watch a sunset. This restaurant has a lovely atmosphere. We are not marking the atmosphere down in ratings because we were walk-ins, and the staff kindly obliged and quickly set up a spare table for us. We had just arrived after a 5 hour trip from Byron driving in the rain. We were very grateful you accommodated us and our two dogs. This is a tapas restaurant, and our selection of vegan tapas was generous and delicious. We had a very flavoursome cauliflower dish, veggie gyozas, spiced soft tofu pieces, and steamed edamame. If you are there in the afternoon, you will probably see dolphins. We requested a takeaway container, and they happily obliged.

We have just experienced another great night dining here at The Dragons Den. Food was shared amongst our table. Every dish was tasty and well presented. Staff were professional and very helpful. Would highly recommend

Do yourself a favour and try for yourself. I can highly recommend both the Whisky Sour and the Margaritas. Food wise, everything tastes 10/10

I came to Forster for a couple of days, and was told by a good friend that this place was really good and had nice food, so I thought I’d give it a go for me and my partner for dinner. I paid $57 for calamari, potato scallops, chips, and grilled fish. I was highly disappointed with the amount of food I received for what I paid. The calamari way over cooked. The scallops were way undercooked The grilled fish was hard and dry, and didn’t really have any flavour. The chips were soggy, and very oily. There were 2 young teenagers by the look of them running the store, the girl was friendly enough and the service was decently quick, but the food just wasn’t good enough at all. Had to throw half of it out. Not even the dog wanted to eat the leftovers… I should’ve gone to the place across the road.. to justify everything, I was highly disappointed and will not be coming back here unfortunately.

When the sign says fresh seafood out the front you would expect just that , $58 for 2 seafood baskets and the whole package consisted of frozen junk you could have bought in Cole’s and completely overcooked by teenagers running the store . Do yourself a favour go to Cole’s and buy your seafood and cook it yourself at least it would be somewhat edible . This lot is going in the bin .

Beautiful grilled salmon with lovely fresh salad and the best chips ever! Staff are very friendly and they have a great choice for eat in or take away at reasonable prices

I walked past this shop today and it smelled great so came back again tonight to give them a go and it was worth it. Ordered the kids schnitzel, veggie burger and two small chips. Best chips I’ve ever tasted! Best veggie burger I have ever had. It was packed with beetroot, lettuce and they even melted the cheese onto the corn patty which made it taste amazing. You don’t want cold cheese on a burger ever. Service was really friendly and the meal was cooked very fast. Certainly affordable and the menu is quite extensive.

Fish was tasty. Lobby’s works burger was great. Chips were quite the disappointment. Some young punk took them out of the fryer too early.

Really lovely service the young girls and guys were wonderful and the food came out quick and the price was reasonable. My review is based on the food. I personally don’t like beer battered chips and when I think of Aussie fish and chips I think of the golden thin type again just my personal preference :( not sure if the fish was battered in beer but it was dry and orange and sadly that type of batter makes me sick.

Ordered lunch for seafood basket and barramundi and chips, taste a bit bland. Only one small sauce and small piece of lemon for each big meal.

If you've had Domino's it's pretty much the same across the entire network. Consistency seems to be key with these keys. Is it first class food, no but if you want a quick meal and you know what to expect you won't be disappointed

We read the reviews this was the worst Domino’s in Australia so we had to come from Canada to try it… and let me tell you don’t believe the haters! We cruised in past a guy complaining about his Dominos Donuts being terrible and the staff were super friendly and helpful. Our pizza was quick, fresh and delicious and GF even! Top marks to the chef, we will be back!

Often get Dominos Pizza when we travel as usually you get same quality products so know what to expect. Last night we were very disappointed by the quality of the Cheese and Garlic Scrolls and the Supreme Pizza we got from Forster store... both we under cooked, YES they were very busy but that is NO excuse to push food through quicker than it should be. Wont be going back to THAT store.....

Have eaten from here many times over the years as a local of 12yrs. Never had anything to complain about. Until tonight. Customer service & quality in the last 12mths has dropped dramatically. Ordered from here tonight MY usual but hubby decided to go the pad see ew meatlovers for something different. When I called I asked for the dish to be made just a little bit spicy, those exact words. Menu does not state it has chilli in it, yet when I arrived, collected & returned home my husband took one mouthful & got instant hiccups. It had so much chilli in it it was inedible. I returned to the restaurant & mentioned the state of the meal & that they should state it is a hot spicy dish. The young male who took my order over the phone & served me said I asked for extra chilli. I said no I didn't, I asked for it to be a little bit spicy. He was rude & tried to blame me for the problem & then proceeded to laugh & speak with his chef in their language. I asked for it to be made again with no chilli. Hubby was so disappointed as while he handles spice well he was left with a burning mouth & then a replacement meal that was bland. Likely will not go back again. $69 for 3 noodle bowls is more than a decent price too. For the experience it is a blatant rip off now.

Super yummy satay sauce. We had the vegetarian tofu satay with egg noodles and the chicken satay stir fry. Good food. Satay sauce was tasty although a little bit sweet. Food was ready in just 10 minutes. Great experience and would recommend.

Tasty, authentic Malaysian dishes- Malaysian chicken curry, char hor fun. I went twice in two days. Dining area is basic so get take away, and eat at home. Best food out of all the local Chinese eateries in Forster.

Negative Its pretty cramped seating when everyone decides to descend for a meal at the same time. Positive Its pretty simple...If you order Thai or Vietnamese you will be disappointed!! as it only basically resembles what you know. What a lot of people dont necessarily work out is they are actually Malasian so stick to Malaysian chicken curry and you will not be disappointed. Rendang is also really good. Roast pork with rice is good. Parking is easy as its basically on a car park. Wheelchair accessible.

Rudest cashier I have ever encountered. He thinks their restaurant is the only Chinese restaurant in Forster. Too bad there is no NEGATIVE STAR. Ordered food and clarified about my order because I saw it was punched incorrectly, he raised his voice to the point of shouting and asked if what do I really want. I turned around and walked out. Customers don't deserve that kind of treatment. If he does not want his place of work then don't work there at all. Just plain RUDE!

Been over 30 minutes. Still in drive-through. Kids cried. At this point, I could’ve caught the cow, grown the potatoes, and baked the bun myself. I’m pretty sure the fries got their degrees while I waited. If this is “fast food,” I’d hate to see what slow looks like.

Disgusting gents bathroom, food bins left opened and full and focused on drive thru hence the wait time is long in the morning. Wouldn’t normally post about fast food as you would expect what you pay for but something needs to be said

This Maccas is actually amazing. Ive had amazing delivery, funny and nice workers, BEAUTIFUL FOOD and great service. I had horrible food poisoning from the subway near the bridge and let me tell you I blew up that toilet nonstop for 37 minutes straight. Felt amazing after though 🫂😘😘😘

Cold food, dirty table and watered down coke. Would’ve taken it back if we weren't in rush. Maccas is so hit and miss, and whoever owns this one needs to pull their finger out and do some quality control

This place always delivers terrible food and experiences - I don't know how you're still operating. We ordered 2 SMALL Chicken n Cheese meals in drive through, the girl at window 1 even confirmed this, but yet I discovered at the last window we had paid for 4 Chicken n Cheese burgers, 2 of which were in LARGE meals. I don't know how your staff could've got such a simple order so wrong. The girl at the end didn't even apologise for the stuff-up, she just said "well, you've paid for it". Pathetic staff, pathetic service.

After a long day of shopping, I decided to get some food. The man that served us was absolutely rude & appalling. I was with my close friend and this is the first time she had tried subway, so we expected an amazing experience. While ordering, we both were rushed, spoken too like we were stupid and aggressive. Bread was burnt after it being toasted… My poor friend left the store feeling absolutely horrible. The man that served us was wearing a black shirt, not sure if he’s the manager but if he is he DOES NOT know how to treat his costumers! DO NOT GO HERE

Appalling customer service and a wrap that was inedible - had to be eaten like a smashed salad bowl! Would be helpful if staff weren’t communicating between themselves in another language. Shop looked unhygienic and I would not reccomend eating here.

I have been here 3 times over a 5 month period hoping their standard of service and product would be better but it remained the same. The sub is thrown together haphazardly and they are very economical with the cheese, olives and lettuce that I requested. When asked for more olives, 2 bitty slices were thrown in. This happened on each of the 3 visits and served by the same guy who appears to manage the store. There was no apparent reason to rush as there was only one other customer but throwing the sub together in that manner does not make you want to return again...which I won't. It's a shame as I do like subway sandwiches.

Me and my girlfriend got horrible food poisoning. Vomited all night and definitely alot more out the other end🙂‍↕️ it was horrible and im still sick. There was no sauce even though we ordered it, it wasn’t tosted it was moist and the meatballs were raw. It was disgusting.

📢 DISAPPOINTED WITH SUBWAY AT FORSTER SHOPPING CENTRE! COLD FOOD, TERRIBLE SERVICE, UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR, AND UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF! Avoid Subway at Forster Shopping Centre! Ordered a cheese, tomato, and spinach roll, but the experience was a complete disaster. The service was abysmal, with over 30 minutes of waiting for cold food. On top of that, the staff exhibited unacceptable behavior and were extremely unprofessional. Not recommending to anyone.

rudest service, throwing lids, telling me to get out and yelling at me. All because i came in 10 minutes before close and got a 6 inch. Would recommend making your own sandwich or just throwing it at his head

Foods edible but nothing special, orders are genuinely wrong 3 out of the 4 times you go, if you can go to taree, both kfcs are a million times better quality... Today's order, missing bacon on BOTH of our bacon and cheese zinger burgers, missing sauces for the tenders box and chicken chips sized tenders, food was half cold to boot. Staff were nice and sorted us out with some extra sauces when I went back in to ask.

Wanted to place a large order. Went in and no one there. Whilst checking out menu, 3 young girls walked in. Girl at register obviously new them and they were joking around. We stood there waiting to be served but were ignored. After a period left as no service or acknowledgement. Went to place across road (Hungry Jacks). Was also empty but filled our order quickly. No wonder these places are losing customers. Nu

Waited 15mins in drive thru to then get not what I ordered. I should have checked before leaving but you expect that it would be correct. Box looked like it had been dropped. No moist towelettes in the box.

The worst food I ever had. The fried chickens were not fresh, the taste was just yaaki! And the frech fry was extremely salted. Never ever want to experience KFC anymore because of the worst experience we had yesterday

The staff and the manager here are lovely people, and the service is second to none. 10/10 from me. Will definitely visit again.

It's a good KFC they're always fast and good service.

this is the “GIANT SNACK PACK” from kfc forster tonight. they had no popcorn chicken and refused to substitute as it is already a “Promo” this is ridiculous and not good enough should of been able to get a substitute as we were paying for the popcorn chicken aswell not just chips and nuggets
