Hasedera Temple, a reconstructed 8th-century temple, is the primary temple for the Buzan sect of Shingon Buddhism. Founded in 686 and expanded in 727, it houses the golden 11-faced Kannon of Mercy Bodhisattva Statue. The main hall sits high on a mountain slope and is accessed by around 400 covered and lantern-lined Nobori-ro cloister stairs. The temple's picturesque hillside location offers breathtaking views of surrounding mountains and valleys.
Often visited this temple since I was a little. Never thought much about it then…. But learning history helped me to see the significance of this temple. Do not follow smartphone map apps (Apple/Google) as their algorithms based routing is harsh and dangerous (exposing to traffic) route. Follow the signs you see on the street instead.

Described as the most beautiful temple in Tale of Genji's time, about 1000 years ago, this temple is situated in a valley slightly off from both Nara and Kyoto. The main statue is a 10 m high bodhisattva that was made before 1500 that had since become an archetype of its own. It is well worth a trip to experience the beauty of the temple and surrounding environment.

#Hasedera #Temple is one of the most beautiful temples l have visited in Japan. lt is located on the mountain side and surounded by beautiful flowers, that is why also called the temple of flowers. The steps reminded me #Echizen Daibutsu in #Fukui. But they are not as much as it. Also not very steep, quite manageable. When you reach the top, you will see the wooden terrace with a beautiful view of valley and that reminded me #Kiyomizudera in #Kyoto. Since Nara was the earliest beginnings of Japanese Buddhism as the first capital, Hasedera Temple has a cery long history dated back A.D. 686. Main Hall of the Temple is a National Treasure of Japan, designated by the Japanese government as the most precious of Japan's Tangible Cultural Properties. There is a small museum where you can have a chance to see the eleven-headed statue of Kannon (the goddess of mercy) and you can pray by touching his foot. From architectural point of view, almost 10 meter tall wooden statue is one of the largest wooden sculptures in Japan.

There was a beautiful flower arrangement on the starcase, which doesn't allow people to walk in. Visitors can line up to take photos. The only reason I gave 4 stars is that I would prefer natural fields of hydrangea, which I have seen in some other places.

Although it was out of season and there were no flowers blooming, it was a great temple up on a hill. Many steps but were not steep at all and it is relatively quiet being out out of the main cities.

Best temple in japan, our local! Easy access from HASE DERA station. Fraction of the tourists of Kyoto or even Nara.. a real local experience!

A very quiet place on a weekday. We counted less than 15 visitors on this large temple ground when we visited after lunch time. We could walk/hike leisurely around. It was a pleasant experience overall.

The Oomiwa-Jinja Shinto Shrine, dedicated to Mount Miwa, is an impressive location in Japan that offers many activities for visitors. It boasts breathtaking views of the mountain and features fanciful sculptures. The shrine houses the oldest path in Japan connecting shrines and cemeteries. Visitors can also drink God's water and witness the Hall of Fame of donors. The staff is friendly, and there is ample space to explore. The entrance road showcases a massive gate (torii).
What a marvelous place. There is also a pilgrimage you can do here. There is a mountain you can climb, at the top there is a temple. It is like 1 hour 30 minutes walking to the top, a bit difficult if you're not trained or do exercises frequently. The view is impressive. You need to pay and wear a talisman before going up. Be sure to read and ask before anything to avoid misconduct or causing trouble to the people. Remember this is a religious place and must be treated with respect.

This place is a little bit far from the city, so it is very quiet and feels peaceful when I go there. It’s the first Jinja I visited in Japan. Not very much tourist come here, mostly are local people. Luckily I saw someone having their traditional wedding there!

Beautiful shrine! Supposedly one of the first shrines in Japan (Izumo shrine also says the same). Dont forget the holy water at one of the smaller halls. It helps to cure illness.

Very quiet most of the time with not a lot of tourists. I was there on the first of the month in June so there was a lot of people switching out their cedar branches and offering eggs and sake. Incredible to see.

At first time, I mess with mixed up this place with the previous shrine. This is the main one, many kind staffs, and wide space. Famous of the hall of fame of donators, and you can see the big gate (torii) on the in-out road.

Shrine in the forest. Reminds me a bit of Ise or Izumo shrine. Not bad at all. We met an old lady on the train there and thought she'd talk to us for the whole time but in the end she didn't so kind of doged a bullet there. Nice lady tho very welcoming. Life is all about these little moments and exchanges.

Tanzan Shrine is a magnificent spiritual sanctuary situated in a forested hilly area with a 13-story pagoda, charming cherry blossoms and foliage that change color seasonally. The shrine is built on a highland slope and can be accessed via bus from Samurai Station, where the walk down to Ashland through terraced fields promises to be an unforgettable experience. The temple offers spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes and has tranquil grounds that provide peace of mind to visitors seeking spiritual fulfillment.
Place a pin on the map, maneuver your vehicle up the meandering road, not so deep in the mountain, stand a temple, a shrine, a hidden treasure full of stories. Even if we put all those studies aside, it’s still a scene, a view to behold. Quiet. Everything is really quiet. Tranquil, at ease, sublime, make your way through the hilly holy ground. Look up and back, there is another breathtaking beauty. Five star for sure. FYI, we were the only visitors during our venture.

Amazing Shrine built on the hill. It required considerable amount of walking from the carpark with steep steps. The 13-storey pagoda was the only one in existence in Japan. With fall colours as the set off, the scenery was breathtaking. It's worth all the effort made.

I liked our visit at Tanzan Jinjia. It is a very quiet place surrounded by nature and located on the side of a small hill. The ascent to the top is very peaceful and from there you will have a nice view. To get to the top the train in the forest is also a picturesque one. When we were there not many people were visiting which made it a better experience. Close to the entrance there is a parking spot if you are coming with a car but we used the one located next to the convenience store which was free and empty considering that there were not many people around.

Absolute fun on an Autumn day. Now is the time. Leaves reaching peak. Interesting 500 year old temple converted into a massive shrine especially for those seeking love. Great little udon place reasonable just to the right of the main entrance. Parking near ¥1000 in November but free lots nearby with a little walk. Don't turn sharp left to the shrine direct but continue down the road above to free lots. Just a lovely day trip. Area has other shrines, temples, and museums in stunning scenery. Even the Lawsons are in old style buildings.

三輪山本 is a serene and beautiful shop that has changed people's perceptions of somen noodles. The dining areas come in various sizes, offering a quiet and elegant atmosphere. Despite the long wait, the experience of savoring their nyumen noodles was delightful, leading to an addiction to their various thickness somen noodles. The store also offers higher-grade somen noodles for purchase, making it a perfect place for souvenirs or gifts.

Somen noodles are very thin and stretchy and are popular as souvenirs. You can eat here at the restaurant, so it's a good opportunity to stop by and eat. Bib Gourmand worthy. When I entered the store, it was full. Please wait in the large waiting room. In the meantime, buy souvenirs. Duck noodles 1298 yen tax included Chilled Somen 880 yen (tax included) The chewy texture of chilled somen noodles is irresistible. Even though it's so thin, I can feel the tension. When I was wondering why so many people were waiting for somen, it was late in the afternoon, so I only had somen, but it was delicious! ! ! Since then, I've been hooked on somen. The thickness also varies. I usually buy the affordable 90, but today I have "white hair". Boil time is 30 seconds An instant boiled noodle set that will never fail! Both soup stock and noodles are included in the pack. You won't find Miwa Yamamoto's somen in supermarkets. If you want to buy something, come to Sakurai City, Nara Prefecture. It's fine if you go by car, but if you come by train, you'll have to walk from the nearest station, and there aren't many trains, so it's difficult. Also, I was looking forward to the meal as it is a famous somen restaurant, but I wrote my name down and waited before the restaurant opened and ordered some noodles, but it was obvious that they had been made in advance. There was nothing stiff about it. When you want somen to be delicious, you don't usually make it in advance. I had high expectations for my first Miwa Somen, but I was disappointed. Much later, I had a chance to eat Miwa somen at another restaurant, and I ordered some noodles that time as well, but the noodles there were chewy and delicious, so I decided to revisit Miwa somen. I almost ended up with the impression that somen was not delicious.

I came to this region to visit my friend who is a native of this area. The Miwa Somen is a local specialty that are thin white noodles made from wheat flour. It is extremely thin but has a very strong texture to it. This restaurant happens to be run from one of the most famous and old traditional somen producers in this region. Although we ate this during the December, it felt like summer! The noodles were thin and strong and the dipping sauces was very tasty. There are several somen restaurants that are run by these traditional producers, but I found this restaurant to be most diverse in terms of their menu as well as their reputation.

(Translated by Google) I visited around 12:30 PM on Saturday, October 25th. It was lunchtime, but luckily there was only a wait of about 10 groups. I wrote my name on a sign at the entrance and bought some "Mimuro," a specialty confectionery sold next to the large torii gate of Miwa-no-Okami Shrine, which was perfect timing. It took about 30 to 40 minutes before I was seated. Since this was my first visit, I chose the "Chilled Somen Noodles + Tempura," which seems to be their most popular dish. You can choose between just the white somen noodles or a three-colored somen platter. The three colors looked beautiful, so I chose them. I wanted to eat a lot, so I ordered the large portion (+280 yen). The somen noodles were not only chewy, but also had a wonderful texture with a springy springiness. The richly flavored dipping broth was equally impressive. The tempura was delicious, but the tempura sauce is shared with the somen noodles, so I wish they had served it separately. The somen noodles were cut to the perfect length for easy bites, and I enjoyed them to the last bite. Thank you for the meal. (Translated by Google) A soba restaurant that uses ingredients grown around the shop. The cold soba noodles were chewy and smooth, and I devoured one serving in no time. It was so delicious that I thought there wasn't enough soba for one person. For warm soba, I ordered warm fox soba. Unlike the cold soba, the soba is soft. The soup stock was nice and gentle and didn't interfere with the soba noodles. The age-san was so delicious that I wanted another piece of it, as the soup stock was so good. Boiled eggs and quick rice are sold separately. It was a pity that there was no inari sushi. I would like to sell inari sushi. I waited in a long line for about 40 minutes. I thought it was delicious after waiting. The next business will be in November, but I would like to go again. Fukujindo, a Japanese regional restaurant, offers more than just satisfying somen noodles. Their chirashi sushi set is highly recommended for its delectable variety. Even those with smaller appetites may find themselves wanting another serving. The somen soup is exceptional, although those who dislike fish might not enjoy the persimmon leaf sushi. Chirashi sushi is a popular choice and the shaved ice dessert looks incredibly tempting.

I decided to go in. After climbing the shrine, the time was 12:30. It's crowded. I wrote my name at the entrance and waited. There are many people who are alone, so the turnover is fast. The persimmon leaf sushi only has mackerel, but there is no problem! ! The coolness of the restaurant was soothing. ・Chilled somen noodles (large) + persimmon leaf sushi (2 pieces) @1150- The Miwa somen noodles were chewy and good. However, the noodles were tangled and hard to eat, so I wish they had rinsed them thoroughly to loosen them up. It was a waste of the delicious somen noodles. The broth is also a matter of preference, but it was a bit too sweet... but that's just a matter of preference. The persimmon leaf sushi was delicious. Thank you for the meal. My wife, who loves shaved ice, praised it for being cheap and using good quality ice, saying it was good value for money. (Translated by Google) [#Miwa Somen Fukujindo] The shop is located immediately to the right of the second torii gate of Miwa Shrine. On this day, I ordered a set of Miwa somen and persimmon leaf sushi. There are three types: hot: nyumen, cold: hiyashimen/bukkake, but the noodles are all the same Miwa somen. However, even for the cold noodles, the broth seems to be different, so I was told to enjoy the different flavors, so I'll definitely try it next time. This time, it felt a little chilly, so I ordered the nyumen set. When I tasted the broth, it had a slight scent of yuzu, so I asked, and they told me that they had just started adding summer yuzu peel from today. Some people may like it and others may not, but I like it because it gives the broth a refreshing feeling, or rather, leaves a refreshing aftertaste. There were boxes of Miwa somen in the store, and it seemed that they were also available for sale. Although the exact year it was founded is unknown, it has probably been operating as a restaurant for around 55 years. If you're visiting Miwa Shrine, why not stop by for a meal?

(Translated by Google) The thin, pure white somen noodles are like silk thread, yet have a chewy texture. Although I personally prefer eating cold barley, I was drawn in by the charm of Miwa somen. The soup stock had a richer flavor than it looked, and the balance of ingredients was perfect. Before I knew it, I had eaten all my food perfectly and dried it out😂I left the restaurant regretting that I should have had a larger portion if this had happened. (Translated by Google) This shop is right in front of Hasedera Temple. Cash only. It was a hot day and I was wondering what to order. When you think of Nara, you think of Miwa somen. I wanted to feel the broth, so I ordered the hot boiled somen. My friend ordered the mugwort udon set. There was a set with sesame tofu and a set with grated yam soup. After much deliberation, I decided to go for the temple set with sesame tofu (this was either boiled somen or cold somen). For rice, I had bamboo shoot rice. Depending on the set, I got either rice balls or bamboo shoot rice. After such a deliberation, But the sesame tofu was a cute size lol The mugwort udon really tasted like mugwort mochi and looked healthy The soup stock was delicious and it helped me replenish my salt intake so I was satisfied The bamboo shoot rice in the set was a little burnt, which I liked It also came with wild vegetables, so it was a nice, gentle taste♪ It was so hot that I ended up asking for lots of refills of cold water But the waiter was very kind and told me to drink lots so I wouldn't get heatstroke♡ (Original)

It's a modern-day "café," a teahouse where worshippers and tourists can take a break. More than just a cafe, this charming building is a renovated Edo-period townhouse. In fact, it's a designated tangible cultural property, offering a space where you can savor the traditions and tranquility of Nara. With the aim of preserving and utilizing buildings that convey the history and culture of the region, this precious building preserves the historical landscape of Hasedera Temple Town in Sakurai City, Nara Prefecture. It was designated for its preservation of the two-story wooden townhouse structure, with most of the townhouse design from that time still intact, including lattice doors and cage-shaped windows. At Haseji, a Japanese garden runs through the path from the entrance to the interior, creating an experience that almost makes you feel like you're heading to a tea house. As you make your way along the small cobblestone paths and crossing stepping stones, you'll be able to admire the moss-covered gardens and plantings. A rare sight in modern times, it feels like sneaking into someone else's home, but the old man who appears to be the owner has a nostalgic, grandfatherly air about him. The owner's erratic business hours, such as closing early on days when his back hurts, are typical of Nara. I had some matcha. Surrounded by the greenery of the garden and the tranquility emanating from the wooden building, the aroma of matcha rising from the teacup soaked me deeply. The freshly brewed matcha had a fine foam and a slightly viscous texture, leaving a calming aftertaste. A cup of tea in that space isn't just a drink; it's a moment to quietly savor the moment. I never imagined I'd be able to spend such a satisfying time before heading to Hasedera Temple. This is a teahouse I'd like to visit as a soothing destination.
