History Museums
The Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki is a renowned institution housing an extensive collection of Greek art and artifacts dating up to late antiquity. The museum's central section showcases exhibits from excavations in Thessaloniki and Macedonia, including sculptures, architectural elements from an ancient temple, relics from the palace complex built by Galerius, and gold artifacts from the Archaic and Classical periods.
A rich collection of wonderfully presented items depicting the immense archeological wealth and depth of Greece. In addition to their historical significance, many of the exhibits are spectacular on their own. Masterfully shaped and colored pottery, statues of unmatched artistry, weaponry that displays the military prowess of ancient Greece, gold accessories of impossible craftsmanship that adorned its prominent citizens, and so much more. The facility is also wonderful, clean, with broad corridors and occasional seating, and adequate information concerning the items as well as the age they represent. An overall wonderful experience.

A gem of a place that deals with ancient Greek history and will take up at least three hours to tour depending on how much you want to learn. There is an app one can download and by scanning each exhibit learn its story in more detail than id depicted on the case. Artifacts, jewellery, sarcofagi, tools, weapons, mosaics and many more can be admired. Well worth a visit.

What a great museum to visit if you’re in Thessaloniki. It was a hot day but it was nice and cool walking around inside the museum. So much history and culture. There is a special section called the Cave which has some amazing exhibits.
Richard T — Google review
You may feel it's a small museum, but it's not. There is also underground floor. I spent there almost two hours and didn't feel the time passed. Very beautiful and interesting exhibitions, with interesting texts. Especially the gold jewelry collection. Highly recommended! There is also cafe in the small garden. You only need to take care about "ship bone" in the Cave exhibition. :)

This museum is worth every minute if you are interested in Greek ancient history. The whole place is quite spacious and you never feel lost. Time spent is 2-3 hours. Totally worth the 8€ entrance fee
D — Google review
I really enjoyed my visit to the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki. The collection is impressive, especially the exhibits from ancient Macedonia — the gold jewelry, statues, and everyday artifacts really help bring the history to life. Everything is well organized, and the information panels are clear and helpful, even for someone without a deep background in archaeology. The building itself is spacious and modern, and the layout makes it easy to move through the different periods. I also appreciated the temporary exhibitions, which added some variety to the experience. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that some sections felt a bit repetitive, and a few exhibits could use better lighting or clearer signage. Still, it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in Thessaloniki and interested in the rich history of the region.

Amazing museum with great pieces. Focuses on the Roman history of Thessaloniki. Plan to spend a few hours here. Good cafe as well
Håvard J — Google review
If you're in Thessaloniki, the Archaeological Museum is definitely worth a visit. When I went, there were three exhibitions: The History of Macedonia, The Gold of the Macedonians, and In the Cave. A free app is available that provides in-language guides about the artifacts on display; these are always accompanied by bilingual captions (Greek and English). The second exhibition I appreciated the most was The Gold of the Macedonians. The artifacts are beautifully crafted, with such minute details that it amazes you how the goldsmiths managed to work the metal so delicately and elaborately without having power tools or precision instruments. The third exhibition is temporary, also interesting, and the spaces are organized to evoke the idea of the inside of a cave, with display cases containing archaeological finds from Greek caves. We spent 2.5 hours exploring the museum, and it was enjoyable. Inside there is a bar and at the end of the visit a souvenir shop.

The White Tower of Thessaloniki is a historic Ottoman fortress and former prison that now houses an interactive exhibition showcasing the city's rich history. Situated on the city's waterfront, this iconic landmark was once part of a larger fortification and is believed to have been built in the fifteenth century after the Turkish conquest of Thessaloniki. Visitors can enjoy stunning views of the sea from this location, making it a popular spot for enjoying drinks while taking in the scenery.
The most famous landmark of Thessaloniki with great panoramic views from the top. Inside you’ll find a small but interesting museum about the city’s history. Entry is €8, which is maybe a little bit expensive for the experience and the views
Aleksandra M — Google review
On the one hand, you must go here when visiting Thessaloniki. It is the most famous landmark of the city and has a lot of history attached to it. On the other hand, it is rather expensive (at €8) for what is a relatively small (but interesting) museum. But I have to say that the views from the top are terrific. So Yes - go!
Norm P — Google review
A wonderful place to visit! The White Tower is full of history and beautifully presented inside with clear displays and interactive exhibits. The climb to the top is easy, and the view over Thessaloniki and the sea is absolutely stunning. The staff were friendly and helpful. Definitely a must-see landmark when visiting the city!

Excellent attraction..6euro entry p.p. The walk up tonthe top with its several rooms and chambers along the way was really well worth it. You could easily spend 2 hours here going through the various write-ups & history. Some audio on English via your phone was available at key points. The views from the top are amazing. You see the length & breadth of the coast line and nearby hils. Apparantly you can see Mt. Olympus on a clear day...we were not so lucky.

This is a must when visiting Thessaloniki! The ticket is 6€ and children under 18 don't pay the ticket. This isn't just a place where you go for the view from the top (even though it's very beautiful), but it's also a museum. You have a couple of stops before you reach the top where you can learn more about the history lf Thessaloniki. You also get a free audio guide available in many languages free of charge! I couldn't recommend this place enough.

A lovely place to walk around and enjoy the sea breeze. The view from the top is stunning, especially at sunset. Definitely one of Thessaloniki’s highlights!

A must place to visit if in town for the first time. The tower is multi leveled with each level having an exhibition of the city's history. It's not tiresome to climb as there are no steep steps and you have to stop to see the exhibits. At the top one can enjoy the excellent view of the city and the bay. There is also a museum shop that was not operating on the day we visited.

The Arch of Galerius, also known as "Kamara," is a significant Roman monument in Thessaloniki. Built in 303 CE, it commemorates Emperor Galerius' triumph over the Persians and features intricate marble reliefs depicting various scenes and individuals. This iconic structure is a popular gathering spot for both locals and tourists, offering a glimpse into the city's ancient past.
The Arch of Galerius is incredibly impressive—much more spectacular than I had imagined. In my opinion, it’s as striking as the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. The scale, detail, and presence of the monument make it a must-see when visiting Thessaloniki. Built in the 4th century AD to commemorate Emperor Galerius’s victory over the Persians, the arch was part of a larger imperial complex that included palace and the Rotunda. You can still see beautifully preserved carvings depicting scenes of battle and imperial triumph, offering a glimpse into the grandeur of Roman Thessaloniki. The area around the arch is lively, with cafés and shops, yet the monument itself maintains a quiet dignity. It’s fascinating to see how it sits within the modern cityscape. An ancient structure that continues to command attention and respect. Take your time to walk around it and admire the details; it’s well worth a visit.
Sue V — Google review
Look out for the intricate sculptures depicting stories of the old featuring Romans in togas, warriors in armour, horses and much more. There are cafes, juice bars and shops along the road leading to the Rotunda and a beautiful church in the square by the intersection.

An iconic landmark in the center of Thessaloniki, built in the 4th century to celebrate Emperor Galerius’ victory over the Persians. The arch is beautifully decorated with detailed carvings that tell parts of the story. Easy to find, free to visit, and a great spot to stop while exploring the city

Another iconic landmark in the center of the city. it was built around the 4th C to celebrate Emperor Galerius’ victory over the Persians. The Arch is well decorated with detailed carvings. It is easy to find and free to visit. A good place to visit as part of walking the city sights.
Norm P — Google review
This is one of Thessaloniki’s most famous Roman monuments and a key historic landmark in northern Greece. Located in the central part of the city, its walking distance from the port. The original arch had 8 pillars today there are 3. The detail carved into the marble commemorates Galerius’s victory over the Persians in 298 AD. Quite a site to see. Free to view.
A.L. H — Google review
Not sure where the 5euro is coming into play since it's open to the public within 500feet of the Rotunda and there is nothing to "go in" or "climb up". Just a nice walk through arches that depict a battle scenes. The ones on the inner parts of the arches are more preserved. The outter scenes are almost gone, in one scene you can only make out the raised outline of a figure. I would make this a MUST see when in Thessaloniki.
Heather R — Google review
Galerius was one of the Roman emperors who instigated the most severe persecution towards christians, from 303 to 311 AD. As a Christian pastor, this monument is very relevant as Thessaloniki was Galerius' administrative capital.

The Museum of Byzantine Civilization in Thessaloniki, Greece is a top destination for those interested in the history and culture of the Byzantine period. The museum's extensive collection covers artifacts and exhibits from the early Christian period to the Ottoman Empire, with a specific focus on the 4th to 15th centuries. Visitors can explore various exhibition halls that are divided into different periods, offering insights into art, religion, and daily life during this influential era.
Wonderful museum! I was lucky and didn’t experience any of the 10 permanent exhibition being temporary closed for a lack of staff. Very organized how you flow from one room to the next, free audio guide which can be downloaded over WiFi and nice staff. Everything you’d expect from a well-kept museum. I came closer to closing, 1 hr is not enough, I think I skipped a room and skimmed over a couple others due to time. The artwork and artifacts are beautiful and for only 8 euros, I think it’s a great deal.
Hak B — Google review
The museum from its exterior looks great. They have captured the Byzantine style of architecture. You see that a lot of work has gone into making this museum. There were a lot of amazing artifact, mosaics, frescos etc….to see. Although I thinkk this museum was lacking on staff. We were even told that because they are understaffed only 4 out of the 12 exhibits were open to the public. The guides in those open rooms were more like guards and were always on their phone. Everything is supposedly digitalized. What’s the point of guides then? Just employ guards. Anyway at least what was open was amazing to see what remains from the Eastern Roman period, but more then half the museum was closed of so it didn’t justify the 8 euros price tag. Visit if it’s fully open.
Filip T — Google review
Small but beautiful museum with a fabulous collection of Byzantine art. The staff are very friendly, and the exhibits are well presented. Be careful around some of the displays though, there are small steps in front and when my daughter accidentally touched it, the alarm went off! The cafeteria and gift shop are currently under renovation, which was a bit disappointing, but overall it was still an awesome experience.
Yao C — Google review
The museum is stunning, both from the outside and the inside. Definitely worth a visit. They have a large collection of Byzantine artifacts. Although I'm not usually a big fan of history, I found this museum genuinely interesting and you can feel how important it is for the Greek people. The ticket costs 8€, while the kids under 18 enter for free. The atmosphere is calm and peaceful, it wasn't overcrowded when we visited, so you can take your time and explore at your own pace. About an hour and a half is enough for the full visit.
Nataša K — Google review
An excellent collection excellently presented within an excellent facility. Middle Ages were not dark in the Eastern Roman Empire, which we call today Byzantium. Paintings, mosaics, decorated pottery, jewelry, and so much more display the light of a civilization whose refugees sparked the Renaissance. Truly, a wonderful experience for those who appreciate history and art. In a country so rich in archeological findings of ages ranging into the greatest depths of antiquity, such exhibits are often unduly overlooked.
George S — Google review
Absolutely worth a visit. I think the ticket was €8, which you certainly can't complain about. It was very quiet when we visited, which probably lent the whole place some serenity. If you are in Thessaloniki and you have an hour or so to spare, I think it would be well spent here.
Per J — Google review
The space is good developed: the halls, the lights, the pieces of mosaic, tombstones, vases, examples of the unique history of Byzantine. If you have a time, it's better to take a guide tour, and not to be lost in the treasure of this museum.

Lovely collection. Really recommend visiting during the daytime when you can see the beauty of mosaics in the sunlight. Very friendly staff and comfortable layout of the exhibitions.

Rotunda is a circular building with a rich history dating back to the early 300s. Initially believed to be part of the palace of Roman Emperor Galerius, recent studies suggest it was actually built by Constantine the Great as his third mausoleum. The building's mosaics, once thought to depict saints and martyrs, are now understood to showcase the emperor and his courtiers alongside Christian symbols.
Entry fee is €10. Seems steep but this is a fascinating space with history to match. Built for Emperor Galerius but not exactly clear for what purpose. It is a calm space to contemplate what once was. The art and decoration must have been magnificent. There is an interactive display and a couple of videos to watch in a small annex. Both the videos and display are good and add to the experience of visiting.
AussieIslander — Google review
The Rotunda in Thessaloniki is a fascinating building, especially when you consider its long and complex history. The structure itself is impressive, and the icon paintings and mosaics on the roof are beautiful highlights worth noticing. However, I found the entrance fee a bit expensive considering the small size of the monument and the short time you spend inside—most visitors will probably stay no more than 10 minutes. While it’s an important historical site, I’m not sure it’s worth the price unless you’re very interested in history or architecture.
P C — Google review
Terrific - even though the entry fee is dear (€10) this was really good and worth the cost. It is fascinating - said to have been built for Emperor Galerius (why?) - it is quite a calm space to visit. In its day the decorations must have been magnificent. there is also an interactive display and videos to watch - which are pretty good. Recommended.
Norm P — Google review
Inside is huge, niches for what were Ancient Gods & Goddess taken by the church early during the early christianity days. The ceilingnof the main Rotunda and two of the niches have mosicas depicting both early christian and pegan symbols. This making it easier for the masses of pegans to convert to christianity. Worth the 10 euro. Also in the courtyard if you have an eye for ancient architecture there is a base for a column that has a stone holder instead of a forged bracket to lock the column onto the base for stability.
Heather R — Google review
Gorgeous. I felt the tears on my cheeks, how beautiful it was. Rotunda. It had a period of Christianity and Islam. Nowadays, it's a St. George Christian Church, but the most beautiful I ve seen. The entrance fee is 10 euro, what seems to be overpriced.
Oksana S — Google review
Tucked in the heart of Thessaloniki, the Rotonta stands like a quiet guardian of time. It’s one of those rare places where you can feel history layered in the air, Roman ambition, Byzantine faith, Ottoman echoes, all coexisting under one majestic dome. Built in the early 4th century by Emperor Galerius, the Rotonta was first intended as a mausoleum or temple. Over the centuries, it transformed into a Christian church, later into a mosque and today into a monument and museum open to the world. Each transformation left its trace: the delicate Christian mosaics shimmering high above, the elegant Arabic inscriptions, the worn marble floors that have carried countless footsteps through time. Stepping inside feels like entering another world. The light filters through small windows, illuminating golden fragments of mosaics that tell stories of faith and endurance. Outside, the modern city hums with life, cafés, students, the scent of fresh coffee, yet within the Rotonta, everything slows down. If you ever find yourself in Thessaloniki, take a quiet moment here. Stand beneath the vast dome, close your eyes, and let the centuries speak.
Irini L — Google review
very pretty and awe inspiring historical landmark with a small cinema room on the side that shows explanatory documentaries regarding the rotunda. only thing i find is the ticket price can be a bit pricy for some.
Theodoros P — Google review
Must visit this place and the surrounding area. It's a historical monument and it's considered to be a replica of the Pantheon in Rome. The acoustic inside is incredible. Try it from the middle of the temple 🛕.

Mourga is a renowned restaurant in Thessaloniki, known for its cultural ambiance and exceptional cuisine. The decor features large windows, wooden tables, and ethnographic artwork that reflects the cultural identity of the place. Chef Yannis Loukakis has introduced seductive tastes with his culinary creations at Mourga. The menu offers excellent food made with strictly seasonal and organic ingredients, including fresh seafood caught in the open sea.
A truly beautiful restaurant, hidden just aside of the city center, with excellent tastes and exquisite Mediterranean dishes. Everything was well made, each dish had its own twist and was truly special. Atmosphere it's easygoing with nice music, pretty helpful and friendly staff. Price wise it's a bit pricey, but the quality and quantity of the food absolutely justifies the price. I would suggest you to visit at least once, the menu is rotating and it's an experience worth tying! A hidden gem.

The interior is quite minimalist, but the huge paintings on the walls make a real impression. Our waiter not only spoke what seemed like fluent English, but was also very nice and helpful when choosing from the menu. We had an amazing tarama, delicious squid, and scorpion fish fresh from the daily catch. The bread, honestly, was not so impressive.

Ita P — Google review
We came in with high hopes and really wanted to like this place, especially since the concept and menu sounded intriguing. In fairness, we didn’t try the full menu, so this review is based on a limited selection of dishes. We ordered a salad, two starters, a main, and the two types of bread. Let’s start with the bread — unfortunately, both options were extremely underwhelming. Very small (apricot-sized) and quite possibly the worst bread I’ve ever had. 0/10. The tomato, strawberry, and peach salad had a lovely idea behind it, but lacked basic seasoning and overall flavor. It felt like a missed opportunity. 3/10. Service-wise, we weren’t informed in advance that dishes would come out one at a time. That would’ve been helpful to know, especially since we were hoping for a quick lunch (we had our puppy with us and I’m currently pregnant, plus it was very hot both inside and out). The zucchini dish was another letdown — I eat zucchini regularly and these were by far the most bland I’ve ever had. Again, no seasoning, no flavor. 0/10. The shrimp starter was the highlight of our meal. Tasty, well-prepared, and nicely balanced. 7/10. The squid dish, sadly, had a strange bitter aftertaste and little else going on flavor-wise. 6/10. Finally, the Mahi Mahi, recommended by our server (and the priciest item we ordered), was cooked well according to my husband, but not to my personal taste. 5/10. One thing worth noting: the staff were very polite and welcoming, and the restaurant was empty when we arrived, so service was attentive throughout. However, the entire experience took almost two hours and we only managed to finish the salad and shrimp. While we appreciated the ideas behind the dishes, the execution really didn’t land for us. Sadly, we won’t be returning or recommending it — but perhaps others might have better luck with different menu choices.

Small plates restaurant
Deka Trapezia is a modern taverna in Thessaloniki that offers a variety of mezze and tapas served in small plates. Manolis Papoutsakis, the owner, puts a contemporary twist on traditional Greek cuisine, creating dishes like patatas bravas with Cretan apaki and red mullet in savoro sauce. The menu changes regularly to feature seasonal delicacies and new Greek wines.
Fantastic food and lovely atmosphere. Stylish minimalistic setting, quiet and relaxing with a seaside view. The tasting menu is incredible. Great flavour combinations with a homage to traditional dishes, but with a modern and elegant touch. Seems like a chef-owned place, because of the great food. Should be at least in the Michelin guide, and why not a star!
Ivan S — Google review
The reason I'm giving 4 stars has nothing to do with the quality of the food or the restaurant itself. It's a place with elevated cuisine—slightly more refined and creative flavors that were indeed well-balanced and thoughtfully combined. However, in my opinion, you can't take a traditional meze and elevate it, then charge between €8 (at best) and €13–14 for a single dish. The portion sizes were truly meze-sized. Personally, I left the restaurant feeling hungry. Everything may have been delicious, but paying €8 for a small bowl of lentils feels excessive. If it were a full plate of food, with a proper portion, I could justify the price—but as it stands, I can't

Very beautiful experience. The tastes are unique. Each dish we got, had a distinct flavour and an escalation bite after bite. This place could be in the Michelin guide, easily. It's a pity that due to the prices, the average greek cannot experience this place. Ask for guidance for the menu, as this is not a traditional listing. Same for the wines. The employees know good horeca and they will help you. We've been served by Mike and he was excellent. I hope the Michelin people will soon visit this place. Kudos to chef and personeel. Suggestion: once per week, you can offer a discount degustation day. Everybody should have access to these tastes.

Delicious dinner with great service and lovely ambiance. Small plates offered. Our waiter was very helpful in describing dishes from the menu as well as the specials. Started with an amuse bouche and small glass of raki. Had the dakos, stuffed zucchini blossoms, falafel and lamb trahana. All takes on traditional plates but with surprising flavors. All accompanied by a lovely white wine from Kefalonia. Highly recommend. This was our favorite meal in Thessaloniki.

The customer service will WOW you at this place. The amount of detail the waiters go into, to present you with every dish is astonishing. I love that. Also, everyone is so polite, well prepared and smiling. Not your typical Greek customer service. The food is fresh, every dish is well thought out and well presented and of course delicious. Now, is this groundbreaking as far as the dishes go? No. Is it a bit too expensive for the size of the dishes? Yes. I mean, it is a hip place with a hip chef and I understand the price point and your enjoyment is guaranteed but for the Greek standards and let alone for Thessaloniki, it is an expensive place, YET if you want to spend that money, I definitely recommend it 100%.

Nea Folia is a charming taverna located in the outskirts of Ano Poli, with a history dating back to 1967. The restaurant offers a wide array of delectable dishes, including hot and spicy options, prepared with carefully selected ingredients. The menu features traditional Greek cuisine such as liver cooked with cabbage, kavourmas made from Xanthi beef, and various types of cheese and seafood.

Lonely Planet led us here and not gonna lie, we were a bit confused at first. For some reason, we were the only people in the restaurant the entire time. The menu is handwritten on paper and the place is decorated in an old style. But the reviews suggested otherwise, so we stayed. And, no regrets. It was delicious. Some of the best octopus I’ve had. Husband had the meatballs and enjoyed those too. The waiter said the menu changes so depending on when you go, you may have different options. In traditional Greek style, they serve dessert for free. I’m not sure what it was, but it tasted good!

Small place not upscale where food is excellent, tasty and flavourful. House red wine ain't the most spectacular but it does the job. Don't let the decor foul you, the food is excellent for a small price.

Nice and quiet restaurant, very clean and nice approach they suggest you either fresh of the day dishes or from the menu depend on your preferences. I was on fasting so no meat allowed but either way I had some nice food especially the fava and skoumpri also for cold appetiser the mussels were great and tasty. I liked that they have their own signature for the dishes with the onions, sun dried tomatoes and the paksimadakia. The decoration and atmosphere are also worth mentioning.

For us is simply the best restaurant in Thessaloniki, even in the whole Greece. For the recent trip we spent one week in Thessaloniki and we have been here for dinner twice. All the dishes have exceeded our expectations. The top one dish is the shrimps with oatmeal, it was so delicious. We have been here in 2016 once, I am looking forward to come here and dine here in the future.
Rui F — Google review
A bit disappointed with our visit we had expected more after reading the reviews. With just one table taken when we arrived at 8pm it still took a while before we were given a menu. Hand written with a small choice, just what we like. Also the food took longer to come than in the other restaurants we visited during our month in mainland Greece, again this is our preference. However the food was overall disappointing. Grilled mushrooms and herbs: just four medium mushrooms, not good value for money, although the flavour was good. A sausage and egg dish was four fried eggs on a dish with thin slices of overcooked sausage around the edge. Meatballs were OK but the serving of chips in a tiny frying basket seemed overly pretentious and not in keeping with somewhere purporting to be an authentic Greek restaurant. With a litre of wine, water and bread, the bill came to 45.50 euros. Two more tables were filled but both were tourists.

After many years since my first encounter, Nea Folia still rules. Traditional cuisine with a serious twist, secret ingredients I won’t reveal, and such a relaxing atmosphere. Dishes and flavors are composed in perfect harmony — I loved it! If you’re in Thessaloniki, don’t miss it — a top culinary experience!

We’ve been trying to eat at Nea Folia for two years in a row after hearing great recommendations. The first time, there were no available tables at all. The second time, there were three empty tables with no reservation signs, yet the man working there told us there was nothing available. I don’t recommend this place if you are very hungry. The staff is not accommodating at all

Eclectic restaurant
Grada Nuevo is a gourmet restaurant located in the heart of Thessaloniki, near Aristotle Square. It is situated within the Andromeda Boutique Hotel, offering a prestigious dining experience. The restaurant boasts an extensive cellar with over 150 exceptional wines. Meanwhile, on Kalapothaki street, there's another renowned seafood restaurant known for its quality and attention to detail for over two decades. The chef at Grada Nuevo creates dishes using fresh fish and vegetables to elevate the flavors to new heights.
Delicious modern Greek food with excellent service. We came for dinner and had the asparagus salad, the octopus, grouper and the lobster pasta with pistachios. We enjoyed all dishes, the asparagus salad was very fresh different from others we’ve tried before. Our favorite dish was definitely the lobster and pistachio pasta. We were also able to enjoy a very good wine from Santorini. Highly recommended!

We loved our romantic date here! Lobster pasta is total delight, but to be honest everything was super tasty. Service and atmosphere are exceptional! Desserts didn’t make a huge impression, but was good. Definitely recommend!👌

Everything was delightfully tasty and the service was excellent. While there was one lady who seemed a bit distant and rarely smiled, everyone else was very warm and pleasant, which made our lunch truly enjoyable. Grouper fillet was fresh and tasty, sea urchin pasta flavorful, and the lobster pasta was superb!

Grada Nuevo is a true gem in the heart of Thessaloniki for seafood lovers. The restaurant offers an impressive selection of dishes and wines, catering to the most refined tastes. Every dish is crafted with precision, showcasing fresh, high-quality ingredients and an elegant presentation. The flavors are exquisite, balancing tradition with a modern touch. The seafood is perfectly prepared, and the wine list complements the menu beautifully. Service is top-notch—attentive, professional, and knowledgeable about both the menu and wine pairings. Whether you’re looking for a romantic dinner or a fine dining experience with friends, Grada Nueva is a must-visit in Thessaloniki . Highly recommended!

Very special restaurant with perfect food , atmosphere and service. Nice starters made my day with a nice Greek bubbly wine. Oysters were fantastic. So was the cod fish. Special thanks to very attentive service.

I visited Grada Nuevo about a month ago and had a truly memorable dining experience. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious, but two dishes really stood out: the bruschettas topped with fish roe were rich and flavorful, and the asparagus appetizer was perfectly balanced — fresh, elegant, and beautifully presented. The overall atmosphere was warm and refined, with attentive service that made us feel genuinely welcome. It's clear that the kitchen takes pride in quality ingredients and creative execution. I would happily recommend Grada Nuevo to anyone visiting Thessaloniki-whether you're a local or just passing through, it's well worth a visit. It’s one of those places you look forward to visiting again. 🙂

Located in a lively downtown area just out of the super touristy restaurant section this place was an amazing find. The decor and ambiance was beautiful as it was lively but not loud. Chairs were comfy and my mom and i had a lovely meal with a GREAT Greek wine recommendation from our waiter. We had the oysters from France, Portugal and Ireland as well as the catch of the day sashimi (was a Greek fish we hadn’t heard of!), the scallops hot appetizer and the octopus hot app. It’s so difficult to pick a favorite since everything was so good but the scallops were exquisite and the sauce on the sashimi was so creative and delicious. Wish i lived in Greece so i could come here often!

Duck is a farmhouse kitchen located in an industrial area of Pylaia, offering a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The chef, Ioanna Theodorakaki, creates a unique dining experience with dishes that are difficult to categorize, using ingredients from her own garden. The menu features a variety of options such as mutton with eggplant, celery root soup with lobster, and venison with white sauce and truffle.
Had amazing dining experience. Came here for foie gras and were not disappointed. Foie gras was excellent, beef cheeks super delicious and wagyu beef steak tender and tasty. A bit away from town but well worth it!

For the money you pay you don’t have the quality and service deserved! Calculate at least 100€ to 150€ depending on the wine and appetizer you get. Easily you can pay way more! Atmosphere: Tottaly unfitting for a high class restaurant! Area totally nothing exquisite to suit the menu prices. We have been sited outside in a small yard smelling manure and making the dining unbearable. Also cats were strolling beneath our feet like we were eating in a cheap Greek tavern. Service: the waiters were very young and not trained with slow response to any need. The chef was polite and warm but that was all. Food: maybe the strongest part of the experience but giving a 7/10. Must work ambiance place to be and well trained staff to elevate to the prices.

Literally, a special restaurant to dine in! Unfortunately, none of my expectations meet the requirements I had in my mind!! First of all, the salad wasn’t fresh and the main plates came to our table about 40 minutes after the salad!! I chose ravioli and in my opinion they were too thick!! I could characterize the service as excellent and the atmosphere as well. I am trying to be as honest as I could be since the price of the plates claims a stunning experience that I didn’t meet there!!

Second time. Obviously not nearly enough. Visiting Thessaloniki from Athens for business, and what a better idea to enjoy Thessaloniki's finest than with one of my most adorable friends at the most hospitable environment you can possibly imagine. Kudos on the ambience, the food, the service, the Chef. And what a Chef. She's is a diamond in the rough. Hands down the most value for money place. Least pretentious ever. Can't wait to come back. Unfortunately after summer since they will be relocating to Σχοινουσα. Lucky islanders.....

Overall a nice restaurant to enjoy your dinner here! We enjoyed differnt types of dishes and the portions are quite big i have to say which is good! Atmosphere is also good and food is also really good. Service generally was good but there were 2 things for improvement; it took 30 minutes for the main course to arrive and also the orzo was not very well cooked, although very tasty. Overall worth coming!

Disappointing experience. Average food. Not expensive considering the huge portions. But disappointing nonetheless. The service was disgusting. Very snobby and inattentive. We had to ask more than a few occasions to refill our wine glasses. We would do so ourselves but they kept the wine away from us! If you aspire to offer quality service hire more waiters so you can do so. Waiters were borderline rude when we asked what desserts are available. Only plus was the cosy vibes of the decoration. Plus the excellent valet service. Hence, the two stars. I would avoid. Not for the prices but for the lack of culinary excitement and absent service.

The Duck of Thessaloniki is a small restaurant at the outskirts of the city. The decor and experience is nice but nothing outstanding. The food is good, mainly meat but also seafood. Prices are high as expected. Wine list is one of the highlights with extensive selection of Greek and international wines. Overall a nice experience.
