Very worth it. As a foreigner we got half off the fair. They had some sort of modern art display that was really cool! Lots of the art was interactive
What a stunning building! I absolutely love the quadrangle with the square pond in the middle, the Japanese tiles and the amazing shiny wood floor. Sorry, I did not visit the actual museum, seemed to be a fashion focused exhibit - not my cup of tea. Visit it for the building. Almost empty.
(Translated by Google) I came across this place when I was researching the museum on Google Maps. Even on the map, it looked like a fairly impressive facility, but in reality it was a mediocre structure. The entire surface is covered with red tiles called Sekishu Kawara, giving it an intimidating and majestic feel, making it resemble a fortress. It looks like a medieval European castle. The entrance is an automatic door, but there is no sign indicating that it is open, so the design goes all out. At the museum itself, you are greeted by Yayoi Kusama's pumpkins, and there is a good balance between Japanese and Western paintings and crafts on display. Honestly, the shallow water structure in the courtyard is the most interesting thing to see. A must-visit museum!
(Translated by Google) This is a prefectural art museum located inside the comprehensive cultural facility, Grand Toi. At the time of my visit, only the collection exhibition was on (during the preparation period for a special exhibition), and admission was 300 yen. I was able to see Sekishu washi paper and Japanese paintings related to the Tsuwano domain. (Original) 総合文化施設、グラントワの中にある県立美術館です。 訪問時はコレクション展のみ(企画展準備期間中)で300円で見られました。石州和紙と津和野藩ゆかりの日本画を見ることができました。
(Translated by Google) I visited during the Obon period in 2025. It is located in the impressive Grand Toi building, which has a striking reddish-brown color. I came all the way to Masuda to see Izumi Kato's solo exhibition. Although it is quite difficult to access, the building and exhibition space are beautiful. I also enjoyed the Izumi Kato exhibition. (Translated by Google) I went to the Yoshikazu Yasuhiko exhibition. It was my first time here, and it was an incredibly beautiful building. There is a large puddle in the large courtyard. A sign says, ``This is not a pool, so please do not touch your face or butt.'' Did someone put it on? (lol Umbrellas are not allowed in the exhibition hall, so we had to leave folding umbrellas at the entrance. The Yoshikazu Yasuhiko exhibition has an incredible amount of original paintings and manuscripts on display, and it takes a tremendous amount of time to read through them. Even if I make a mistake, I won't have enough time to just go and see it (lol) People of the Raiden, Zanbot, Yamato, and Gorg generation are probably so happy that they're dancing a little. I'm also Don Pisha. Along with the Yoshikazu Yasuhiko exhibition, there was also an exhibition of Cowboy Bebop's mechanics. The permanent exhibition was about history, such as hanging scrolls and helmets. Even if you watch the whole thing, it won't cost you 1,000 yen with the JAF discount. It's a demon cost performance.

(Translated by Google) Visited on November 20, 2024. About 15 minutes walk from Someba Tengokukatsu Shrine. We immediately went through the admission procedures and prayed at the main hall. Is there a statue of 16 Arhats in Kaizando next to the main hall? glared at me from above and greeted me. The garden has an autumn-like feel to it, with a single maple tree...although it's not yet at its peak, it's nice to see weeping cherry blossoms without flowers, which is a different kind of scenery. The "Crane and Turtle" were also admiring each other and enjoying the atmosphere together. Thick clouds hung over the ground for a long time, but as I was gazing blankly, I suddenly caught a glimpse of blue sky, and I felt happy, thinking that it must have been fate. The garden is beautiful even during the rainy season, so I recommend visiting even outside of the season. The receptionist was also very kind. (Translated by Google) I did not know that the painter Sesshu visited Masuda City in his later years and ended his life here. Very interesting. I like Japanese art, but I am personally most interested in ink painting. The fact that Sesshu, the man of greatest interest, visited Masuda City in his later years and ended his life is truly romantic. I believe that Sesshu, who depicted Japanese landscapes in many ink paintings, continued to visit Masuda City until his later years because he was attracted to the beauty and attraction of this area. Two gardens said to have been created by Sesshu. Iko-ji Temple is full of attractions such as the colored paper drawing of Nirvana, many Buddhist statues, and the main gate of Iko-ji Temple! This garden is said to have been created by Sesshu, a painter from the Muromachi period, when he was invited as the chief priest, and the arrangement of the pond along the building is also spectacular. (Translated by Google) This shrine enshrines the poet Kakinomoto Hitomaro. It is the head shrine of the 395 Kakimoto and Hitomaru shrines across the country. Kakinomoto Hitomaro served as a court poet for Emperor Tenmu, Empress Jito, and Emperor Mommu, and during the Taiho era (701-704) he went to Iwami as an official for the Iwami Kokufu, leaving behind some excellent Iwami Sobunka poems. When Hitomaro died on Kamojima in Takatsu, Iwami in 724, Emperor Shomu ordered the founding of Hitomarusha on Kamojima. In 1026, a major earthquake and tsunami caused Kamojima to sink into the sea, and Hitomarusha was washed away. Fortunately, Hitomaro's statue washed ashore in the "land of Matsuzaki," where the Hitomarusha was rebuilt. Later, in 1608, a shrine building was constructed by order of Tokugawa Hidetada, and in 1671, the second lord of Tsuwano, Kamei Yoshimasa, repaired the treasure hall, worship hall and tower gate. Kakimoto Shrine at its current location was relocated to this location in 1681 by Kamei Yoshichika, the third lord of Tsuwano, to avoid harsh weather. The shrine building is impressive and has a unique architectural style. Takatsu Kakimoto Shrine is an important heritage left behind by the Tsuwano domain. (Translated by Google) When I was a child, I wanted to be a bus driver. I looked forward to riding the bus between Hikimi and Masuda, and whenever I got on the bus, I always sat in the front seat and watched the driver drive. At that time, there was still a conductor on board. I loved that unique smell inside the car. At that time, it took less than two hours to travel from Hikimi to Masuda. There was a break in the middle. The road condition was poor, with many sections unpaved. I ran, kicking up dust. The road was so narrow that it was sometimes difficult to pass cars coming from ahead, and in those cases the bus would back up with the conductor's guidance. The bus route connecting Masuda and Hikimi will be discontinued in March 2025. The last time I rode an Iwami Kotsu bus was a night express bus that ran from Tokyo to Masuda. It must have been about 15 years ago. That express bus is now gone. The movie ``It's Tough Being a Man: Torajiro Koi Yatsure'' was released in 1971 and was filmed in Masuda and Tsuwano. Madonna was Sayuri Yoshinaga. Among them, there is a scene of Iwami Kotsu buses running through the town of Tsuwano. I immediately recognized it as an Iwami Kotsu bus. I still watch that movie from time to time. Iwami Kotsu buses have many fond memories. Sometimes when I return home to Masuda, I see Iwami Kotsu buses running through the city. If you go to a certain store at the headquarters in Masuda City or other liquor stores in Masuda City, there are places that carry a wide variety of craft beers, but their closing time is a little longer than other stores, so you can still purchase beer even if you arrive late. , which was helpful to me as a craft beer lover. This is probably due to the fact that not only the Masuda store but also the company is strengthening its private brands, sharing electronic money with other stores, and jointly handling products. I would like to have it. Also, because of Masuda, there is a strong sense of the power of that certain store that says, ``Please don't change from now on...'' and I hope that it will continue to be that way.

There is play equipment, but I think the main attraction is the sports park. You can enjoy a walk in the park, and Atago Shrine is located above the park. There is a row of cherry blossom trees and an observation deck next to it, but as of November 2019, the observation deck was closed to the public. When the stadium is not in use, there aren't many people using it, so you can enjoy it in a relaxed atmosphere.
