Wonderful shintoist temple with a path going up from the town similar to the Kyoto Inari temple. From there, you can also climb to the castle ruins in about 30 minutes or go up with the chair lift, where you will have an amazing view of the tsuwano city and its valley!

Definitely worth the trip up the mountains for this. One of the most sacred and beautiful shrines in Japan, and definitely worth a visit if you want to avoid the overcrowded touristy places!

I absolutely loved this place. Amongst one of my most memorable places in Japan. I didn’t see any monks during my visit, but it was a working Shrine and I have no doubt they’re there. There is a column of Tori gates as well, plus the biggest Tori gate I’ve ever seen guarding the entrance to the town and Shrine. Admission and parking is free, but souvenir’s are offered for sale to support the Shrine. Definitely worth a visit!

I have tried some Italien attempts in Japan and they have been horrible experiences to put it mildly. Artigiano is none of that. The tagliatelle was perfectly alienate with a good amount of fresh vegetables that had been lightly boiled. Fantastic. The pizza had an amazing dough, succulent, rich and moist. No hard edges. Made in a wood fired Owen as I understood. The mozzarella was good and the tomato sauce was made from scratch and amazing. As a swede I'm used to too much salt, but I didn't mind here (not because it was salty, because it wasn't), because the taste was so good! It's worth talking the steam locomotive for two hours just to enjoy this beautiful and nice little restaurant in the middle of the mountains!

She went above and beyond to make sure all in our party felt safe to dine here. It appears they have a brick oven for the pizza. Their dough is soft, pillowy, but still offers a satisfying chew.
