Awesome. The only downside is getting out of Westport. A little confusing, otherwise fantastic and kudos to Mayo Co council for their hard work..
This smooth well surfaced path runs both north and south connecting Cashel on the Achill island and towards Westport. There are great views to be had and numerous benched stop offs as the pathway travels through farm land and over peat bogs.
Awesome! 42 kilometres of dedicate cycle/walking track through beautiful countryside. There are a few places to stop along the way but take water and some provisions. Excellent and must do if in the area.
Fantastic, great scenery and a very calming walk. Includes distance markers.
I did the full route, 94km in total return trip. Over rated and over hyped. First of all, Westport to Newport is not worth doing, it basically runs a long side a busy road. The route brings you through Newport village and the greenway recommences on the far side of the village which is badly sign posted and difficult to navigate. From there the next two stages; onto Malranny and Acail are the best two. They follow the old railway line and for most part is offline and away from roads allowing for a more relaxed experience. The track is narrow in places and some unusual twists and turns. Even the river crossings are twisted type bridges! The surfaces are varied- from a compacted dust finish to smooth tar. The final 14km or so into Acail is the most scenic. In total, including breaks, it took about 7 hrs. We had lunch in Kates Cafe, a bit pricey but decent.
Fantastic cycle through beautiful scenery. Got shuttle to Achill from Westport Bike Hire (9.30am) and cycled back to Westport, not as flat as I thought but fine for the majority, took about 3.5 hours. €45 for pedal bike for the day and shuttle - electric bikes available for higher charge. Trail is well signed except a small stretch through Newport where signs and trail seem to vanish. Highly recommend stopping in Newport to see the stunning stained glass in St Patrick’s Church.
Great views of Mulranny coast & great cycle route
Such an amazing experience cycling the Great Western Greenway. It is clearly laid out and there are plentiful signs to direct you in the right direction. Wrap up warm as it is Ireland and it is exposed in some places being on the Western Coast. On another note, keep an eye out you don't have a serious collision with the sheep! 😂

We stopped at the Secret Garden not knowing what to expect and was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful garden and warm welcome. The cup of tea in the Boathouseat the bottom of the garden was simply fantastic! Highly recommended.
Achill Secret Garden is a very lovely garden, a peaceful place. We came during summer but it was still very flowerish. We loved the way the garden is designed. Welcoming owners, cup of tea in front of the sea at the end of the visite. A must see on Achill Island. I hope we could come back on spring!
We did not stay at the B&B, but now I wish we had. The owners are super-friendly and I'm sure a longer chat would have been even more amazing. But even if you are just passing by the garden is an absolute must. The pictures are worth a thousand words, so check them out.
We loved our first visit to this beautiful garden but today we received a very frosty reception. We were told on arrival that we were on private property and something was muttered about no appointment. I had checked online in advance to ensure it was open and it said 10am-4pm. We arrived at 2pm, we were made to feel like we were trespassing at first and when we apologised and asked for the entrance to the secret garden, we were told it was, he then said, since your here now, I'll give you a guide (laminate map) but pointed first at the donation box which we explained we had already given €10.. We left a few minutes later, we were shocked and disappointed.
Nice B&B with friendly owner and beautiful landscape. Garden is lovely.
A gem of a garden, wild, rich in nature and kept by a lovely Dutch couple.
Beautiful location, beautiful house and grounds, friendly host, Great all-round
Great - love the place.

The tents were spacious and surprisingly cozy, with warm, incredibly comfortable beds. I even wondered if the duvets were down-filled, they weren’t, but they felt very comfortable nonetheless. That was definitely the highlight of our stay. We spent a night there during a yellow weather warning, and despite the stormy conditions, we stayed dry and comfortable. The wind and rain made for a noisy night, but the tent held up well. Westport House itself felt fairly average. I wouldn’t be in a hurry to return unless we had plans for lots of cycling with older kids. For younger children, the activities were a bit limited, though it was still an okay experience. The grounds seemed somewhat neglected in places, not quite on par with Center Parcsor other grounds around the country. That said, the glamping setup was nice, and even with the rubbish weather, we still enjoyed ourselves. The showers and toilets could use a bit more attention in terms of cleanliness, but that’s part and parcel of camping. Very little staff about though in general. On site car charging is needed too.
This was our first visit with a touring caravan to the site. However, sadly, we found that there was ZERO regulation or checks on noise in the site. We found the site hectic with loud noise continuing right up to 11:30/12 at night. Having a child ourselves, we understand that kids need to have fun. However, the level of noise was simply madness. We had children running through our pitch, screaming and running late into the evening. The noise did not stop, and we had difficulties getting our child to sleep. The facilities were also very poor and unclean. Sadly, we could not recommend this site to anyone, and we left a day early. We had to cut our trip short and leave a day early due to these issues. I think the site has potential but quiet time after 10:30/11 and numerous issues need attention, particularly security and cleanliness of the facilities.
Probably my favourite campsite in Ireland. However it's the most expensive but imo it's worth it. The site itself is fantastic, lovely restaurant and bar. Plenty of stuff for kids at an extra cost. The town is just a short walk and it's beautiful town.
Nice location. Showers either too hot or cold, you can't regulate the temperature yourself. Uneven ground for camping, especially given the price per night. If you don't have kids, ask not to be placed beside the sandpit 👍
Although big site we had a quiet 2 nights there. Facilities were excellent and ideal base for area inc Croagh Patrick. Will stay again and recommend.
Always been a lovely spot to stay over the last 15÷ years. It didn't help that I have Crohns disease and it has flared, but around 4.15 pm football practise started and it is now 9pm and still going on. Screaming , shouting and balls being kicked continuously, never realised how annoying someone kicking a ball could be! Think it will be the last time we stay.
Staff were unhelpful at check in - had run out of campsite maps and didn’t share vital details about gates being locked at 11pm. As a result we were locked out in the rain after coming back from a family dinner and had to call someone to come and open it. 24hr entrance/exit path into Westport town wasn’t signposted well, there were no lights and it was very dark - felt unsafe at times. Toilets were unclean - two sinks in female toilets clogged with sand for two days. Just not good enough.
Just not worth the money, not in April anyway. I know it was early in the season but cleanliness is a must, and the floors in the toilets/showers were manky, only 6 adults on the entire site, so no excuse. Also no hooks or benches in the showers so forced to but clean clothes on the (manky) floor.... They need to have an off-season price. I was a bit surprised by the price, €46 (€37+9 for ehu) but on the grounds of Westport house and allegedly food and entertainment on site, we decided to stay... Unfortunately we just felt ripped off... The pizza restaurant was closed, the adventure park was closed and they seemed to be setting up for the season, so got woken up at 9 by a digger and tractor that worked on the bay next to us. We were 1 of 3 vans on the site and assigned the bay we were in.... It's a pity as the potential is huge, just need to get their act together...

We had an engagement photoshoot!! wonderful place. Lots of flowers, very well-kept surroundings, free parking. The palace is definitely worth visiting, because inside you can hear many interesting stories and see ancient life.
Fantastic house undergoing restoration at the end of the Summer 25 season. The guided talk is well worth it, giving a good background to all the characters and the history. You can just turn up and self guide round the 3 floors, but they allow you time to explore for yourself both before and after the talk as well.
Westport House is a beautiful country house with an extremely interesting history. Guide Fionn is excellent when it comes to present its former owners and introduce you to the special rooms of the house. You should also stroll through the garden. Would highly recommend a visit (house might be under renovation for two years from now on!)
Just happened upon a tour and the ladies in the building were incredible. I had a question about an Ice House building and they went out of their way to get me an answer. Breda, Delores and Catherine are nuggets Thank you for a terrific tour and your kindness
This is not a hotel. This house was built in the 1600s and remained in the family until the 1960s and then saved the house from destruction by allowing the public to visit. The family history is fascinating and well worth the visit. It is surrounded by 300 acres of woodlands on the edge of Westport, a beautiful town. 😍
A nice place for a family outing. The house and it's dungeons are nice and provide a look into the life of the affluent in the olden days. The activities on the estate seem to be nice. One thing to note is that till the end of June, there are no activities (Westport house adventure) open to the public on weekdays. Access to public for the activities part of the estate is only on weekends during school term time. During the summer school holidays, it's open all days of the week.
Our initial room was too small but they immediately moved us to a more spacious one, we were very happy! Great hotel, beautiful and the reception ladies were very helpful. Easy access to the lovely main Street and town. Great pubs and delicious food!! 🍀
Wonderful view into a historic family private home. It's being renovated at the moment but it's amazing to see the house and it's rooms full of history. Really enjoyed it. Expect to be there for about an hour. You can take a tour or look around yourself.

Excellent stop! Sinead was most helpful with a lot of great information about the area. Well thought out informational exhibit downstairs with a lovely cafe with home cooked foods upstairs. Boardwalk Trail loop around the area took about 30 minutes. Is a certified Dark Sky zone - so planning to come at night would be a real treat. Highly recommend a stop here.
Wonderful experience at the visitor centre. Friendly, informative and helpful staff (Finnan on the front desk in particular). Interesting exhibits on the local environment and social history of the area. All topped off with hearty soup in the upstairs cafe. Well worth a visit.
The staff at the visitor center was very friendly and shared a lot of relevant information. The exhibition is really well done and fun to interact with. And to top it off the café had nice food and tea. An overall very worthwhile stop!
15/6/25: Open moor land and with prepared pathways, so no worries about going off-piste and there are lots of info boards around the area to inform you of habits and about the planetary systems. The cafe serves nice cakes so it is well worth a visit. No dogs allowed in visitor centre exhibition area or cafe unless assistance dogs; dogs on leads around the pathways. The exhibition area is informative covering both habitats and planetary night sky issues.
A very interesting place to visit with excellent guide staff. It also has a nice coffee shop with an excellent bog walk nearby.
Stellar national Park visitor center, extremely user-friendly, well-lit well-staffed and informative, with very beautiful grounds to learn, meander and hike as you wish- great café for refreshments.
Very informative and friendly staff. A nice place to learn more about the landscape and wildlife
Such a great experience. Learned so much about the area form a very knowledgeable lady at the desk. There is few short walks available to get the idea about the place and what it stands for. There is small coffee place inside with great view of the area, and plenty of toilets. Parking is free and some spaces are designated for larger vehicles (campervans/motorhome).

Wonderful experience. Not ridden for 35 years. Padraig and Alisha made everything feel easy, plenty of practical advice and support. You can tell that they absolutely adore their horses.
We were made to feel so welcome. The kids loved it. The three kids (9, 11, 13) really enjoyed meeting their ponies, learning some basics and taking them for a ride too. We were very impressed that they got so much more out of it than just a trek.
Had a lovely experience here today our 3 children ranging in ages from 4 to 9 had a ball Padraig and the team were excellent with the kids. The ponies were very well looked after. Looking forward to our next visit!!!
I have have just purchased a horse from this establishment and couldn’t be happier. Both Padraic and Alisse were brilliant. The horses are very well cared for, the stables immaculate and it shows that these people really care about their animals. I would recommend anyone to buy from here, or if in Westport go riding with them on their trail rides . I look forward to going to visit them again in the future
Three very satisfied girls on holidays from Wexford. The experience was very family friendly and value for money as time of trekking and lessons wasn't limited. Owner and staff were very friendly and facilitating.
What a wonderful place for horseback riding. My family really enjoyed their time with the horses and the humans.
lovely facilities but found some of the staff to be quite rude

I had a great experience at Carrowholly, booking was easy and the yard is close to Westport and easy to find. The horses are relaxed and happy and obviously love their jobs. Guides Emily and Alex were really friendly with lots of local knowledge, and they did a great job of managing a mixed ability group so the less confident riders felt comfortable but I was in no way bored and got plenty of opportunities to canter. The scenery is breathtaking and getting to ride in the sea was amazing and obviously a favourite for the horses! Emily took some great photos and video which was really kind. I’d highly recommend Carrowholly, as a more experienced rider it was great and I was very impressed with how the staff and horses took care of the more novice riders in our group. Big thank you to all the staff and a kiss on the nose for handsome grey Billy.
An amazing place!!! My husband and I did a group ride while on vacation and it was one of the best parts of our trip! The staff are extremely kind and organized. The day we were supposed to go there was bad weather and they timely contacted me to schedule a different date. Helena was EXCELLENT the day we went and helped us get situated and guided us through the ride. We were on the horses for a little over an hour and took a beautiful ride to the bay and even went through the water. She even took some photos for us! If you want to add a horse ride to your trip I highly recommend this one! You will not be disappointed :)
This experience was out of this world, I think it even tops my Algonquin Park trail ride. Guides were knowledgeable and flexible to ensure everyone was okay and confident. I’m a very experienced rider but was a bit rusty and nervous, the lovely Trooper took great care of me. Highly recommend and would love to come back. Horses all in great shape and get regular breaks.
This horseback ride was one of the reasons we chose to come to Ireland and needless to say I’m disappointed 😒. First, the office was hard to see because it was tiny. It was located in the front so that was good. When we checked in, the lady at the desk was disorganized and didn’t seem to know we were on the list to ride? I had booked through Travelocity and I showed her the tickets for two riders. After we showed her the tickets, she asked someone from the stables if the tickets were okay for us to ride? Then it took 10 or more helmet sizes before the right one fit. They had us take our shoes off in the tiny office to try on boots and we were falling into one another. There was a bench outside, so I’m not sure why she wouldn’t have us sit instead? The gals in the stable pair you with the horses. I thought I was going to get one with long hair on the hoofs like the pictures advertised, but that wasn’t the case. Only some riders get those! The horse they paired me with was very tall and I’m 5 feet, so it wasn’t easy to get on and off. Quite the jump down 😬. I had to have a stool to climb up. I’ve never had to do that at any other ranch I’ve been to. The horse seemed frustrated and kept backing up away from the other horses standing. The horse tried to bite the stable gal when she walked it over to me and also tried to bite me a couple times on the ride. I had to pull its head away. It wasn’t an aggressive bite though, more like a nip. On the trail I had to constantly pull the horses head from trying to eat too. It was more of a workout than a nice relaxing ride :/. The ride itself was boring and awkward. Nobody was talking and it was not fun! Other trail rides I’ve been on people were chatting and having a good time. I was in the back of the line, so idk if that was why? When the trail guide was talking halfway through the ride, on the beach, it was windy and I couldn’t hear anything she was saying 🤷‍♀️. It was the only time someone talked and I have no idea what was said? The trail is mostly flat and walking on back roads. You get views of pavement and fields mostly. They do bring you through water during low tide. It was the best part of the ride. It was not a white sandy beach that is advertised though. It looks murky like mud. There weren’t any seals like advertised as well. The pictures that were taken of me, weren’t great. They use your phone, so make sure to bring one! Also, make sure to dress warm. It was chilly and windy out there where the photo is taken.
Fantastic wee morning with my 2 kids! I was very comfortable with the mixed ability ride and was confident to leave my son with a leader (typical boy and has no idea of her name!) and Alex and Emily were great- very knowledgable on the local area. I had a lovely wee canter and a gallop and I would come again if visiting Westport.
Very unique riding experience that takes you through a stunning landscape along the water. The two hour guided trail ride included history about the surrounding area. Helena provided great instruction and a very safe ride taking into account everyone's riding level / experience. Wonderful to work with Kitty and Helena for this adventure.
The experience at Carrowholly Stables was amazing. The people there were super friendly and the horses very calm and well-trained. Most of them are Irish Cobs, but they have other breeds too. We were in a group of 6 riders and some of them have never been horse-riding before. But they managed it quite well since we started of as a group with walking and then me and my sister could sometimes trot ahead and canter a bit and then we waited for the others to catch up or we rode a small part twice. We cantered a bit at the beach and even had the luck to see some seals. Back at the stables we got some tips for cafés in westport so they were also very helpful. And furthermore I think they offer the ride at a very fair price. We paid 40€ p.P (without tips) for a 1h ride at the beach. I would highly recommend it for everyone staying close to westport and even the 1.5h drive from Galway was worth it.
Amazing place, great places to horse ride and even had seals swimming around nearby Riding in the water with the back drop of Croagh Patrick was amazing. Great knowledgable staff and tour guides Safety and equipment demos as you would expect, really healthy horses and a really good activity Definitely recommend.

A beautiful monument commemorating such a devastating time in Irish history
It commemorates the Great Irish Famine which occurred between 1845 - 1849. The memorial is located in Murrisk Millennium Park, across the road from the Croagh Patrick Visitor Center parking lot. It is free to visit and contains very interesting and stark imagery.
A very special and moving place, a haunting monument indeed.
Really impressive, moving and haunting sculpture.
Monument didn't really tell you too much apart from it's in aid of the famine. You only need 5 minutes but don't park in the car park over the road as waste of money for 5 minute view. Park down by the abbey which is down the side road, free parking and actually more interesting to see the abbey.
Amazing monument.
Beautiful work of art , the sculpture really sends you into the history of the genocide/famine of our ancestors. Haunting reminder of our struggles and past . 🇮🇪💚☘️ a lovely place to sit and take in the view of the sea while being in a peaceful environment.

Great way to get an introduction to the town of Westport! A little history overview here and there but more focused on the community efforts such as pollinator gardens, local honey and local business cross collaboration/highlighting local businesses which was fun to hear about. Our guide Steven was very friendly and patient with our 5 year old daughter, getting her lots of treats from the various shops. Highly recommend!
The guide, Ed and his Irish Wolfhound Coo was excellent. He was able to give us all lots of information about the foundation of the town and of the famous and infamous characters who contributed to the growth of the town. Some tasty morsels from ice-cream and coffee houses was a tasty addition to the walking tour.
Steven was wonderful! He explained everything about Westport and showed us the landmarks. It was a great day. He was very funny which added to a beautiful town in Ireland. It’s definitely worth the visit. I highly recommend this walking tour. I also recommend arriving early if you are parking.
My husband and I had an extremely entertaining and knowledgeable tour, and lots of fun with our tour guide, Stephen. We learned so much about the history of Westport as well as the current community - remarkably collaborative and wonderfully Eco-conscience. I highly recommend this tour!
This walking tour was a delight - informative, fun, well-timed. Our guide was excellent and really helped us get a better understanding of the history of the area. All with a great sense of humor!
Great tour, with history, Irish wit and tips for local music, food n pubs, so much fun!

We have been visiting The Wild West since it opened, but today in particular deserves a special review when I was visiting with my 3 kids, 8,6, and 2 and we had an incident with our oldest who is autistic, and Trish and Tom went above and beyond to deal with it, and help us with us great professionalism. This is a fantastic play centre located in Westport Town and it is absolutely no wonder they got voted "Children's Playcentre of the Year". The fabulous sensory room is a huge hit with our autistic son and the play centre as a whole caters for all our kids. We have had many a birthday party here over the year, the setup is brilliant and the food is fantastic! You can be guaranteed your child will leave here happy. The staff are amazing at their jobs. As for the cleanliness it deserves a 12/10!! The place is absolutely spotless, tables always cleaned efficiently and the toilets are always lovely and clean. The play frame itself is cleaned regularly. Overall this place is absolutely amazing, keep up the great work everyone and thanks for providing us with a lovely safe place to bring our kids at such fantastic value.
Our kids love this place. The staff are really friendly, accommodating, and lovely. I wish the coffee was better and there were a few healthy snacks on offer. I also wish they'd invest a little in the decor and ambiance for the adult cafe experience.
We visit The Wild West at least a couple of times a year for the last 2/3 years! A really fun play centre and always exceptionally clean. They offer hot food, snacks, tea & coffee also. The reason we love it so much is the inclusive approach and atmosphere. The staff are very considerate and they provide a lovely sensory room for children with sensory issues or additional needs also. The couple that own The Wild West are so friendly and we would highly recommend it to all types of families! Looking forward to coming back soon!!
€10 for the kid and no charge for the adults. The placeeis huge, the theme is great. Nice staff. My little one loved it.
Firstly, the staff was extremely rude and unprofessional. Instead of being helpful and ensuring a pleasant experience for guests, they displayed indifference and a lack of respect. Moreover, I witnessed staff members mocking customers, which is completely unacceptable and highly unprofessional. Secondly, the cleanliness of the facility was appalling. The place was visibly dirty, with trash scattered in certain areas, and the floors were not well-maintained. In an establishment designed for children’s entertainment, maintaining proper hygiene should be a top priority. I urge you to take immediate action to improve both customer service and hygiene standards at Play Center. I also request an official response outlining the steps you plan to take to prevent such issues from occurring in the future.
Great rainy day activity! Nice clean facilities and the kids love all the different play areas!
Loved it here nice to meet with your friends let the kids play about staff are Lovely and the coffee was Devine will definitely recommend and will most definitely be returning
🏰 The play area is huge and accommodates children of all ages, from toddlers to primary school level 👶🧒👧👦. It's perfect for keeping them entertained when the weather is gloomy outside 🌧️. The only downside was the food, which was just okay, nothing too special 🍔. But as long as the kids are happy and having fun, that's what truly matters! 👍 Overall, I highly recommend it for an enjoyable day out with the little ones.

Incredible artwork by local Irish artists are beautiful displayed in this delightful shop on the quay. There are price points for every budget, from small mementos to framed original art. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. Be sure to check out the bright, whimsical art by Saileen and the felting and polymer work by Suzie Sullivan!
A wonderful treasure trove of creativity and beauty. This gallery is home to a vast array of art and craft work to suit every budget. I highly recommend a visit to the Quay Gallery in Westport to those who value original art and craft work.

This is truly a wonderful place to visit. The staff are lovely and very helpful. It is a beautiful, calm and has a relaxed feel. The way the Abbey is set out with information, is very easy to negotiate and read, and although it contains a lot of information, it is wonderfully executed to keep you engaged in every room. The gardens are exceptional, the food was fabulous and the Connemara ponies were clearly very happy! Overall it was a terrific experience.
Absolutely stunning Abby as well as fantastic example of an extremely large fully walled English garden. We appreciate that there was a shuttle bus taking people from the ticket area all the way to the English gardens. Walking here was absolutely stunning. We had a fantastic lunch inside their cafeteria style food service area. The prices for the food were very reasonable and everything we had was excellent. The historical tour inside the Abbey was also noteworthy.
Small self guided tour through a very well put together downstairs museum. The upstairs display area is very disconnected and feels super random. The grounds are gorgeous. Absolutely beautiful setting right on the lake. Parking is very easy, there is a wonderful cafe at the bottom and another near the gardens. Highly recommend visiting this castle, and the drive out is STUNNING!
We visited Kylemore Abbey on a rainy day — and although the skies were grey, the atmosphere was magical, and we ended up spending a full 2-3 hours exploring the estate. The moment you arrive you sense you’re in somewhere timeless: a grand castle-turned-abbey set amidst the wild Connemara landscape. What stood out for us: the Victorian Walled Garden (about 6 acres), originally created in the late 1800s by Mitchell Henry in loving tribute to his wife, and painstakingly restored from the 1990s onward. You stroll through the formal flower beds, herb & vegetable plots, old glass-houses, and fruit trees — all within high brick and granite walls. We also took the shuttle bus from the visitor centre to the gardens (this runs regularly) and found it very convenient. The estate features peaceful woodland & lakeside walks, a café where you can pause for tea and scones, and a craft shop showcasing local treasures. Inside the abbey itself, you learn about the castle’s origins, the story of the Henry family, the later arrival of the Benedictine nuns in 1920, and how the estate evolved through time. Highlights include the charming neo-Gothic church (built in memory of Margaret Henry) and the family mausoleum — small but deeply atmospheric. Even in the rain, the reflections of the castle in the lake, the misty hills behind it, and the rich gardens made the visit unforgettable. I’d heartily recommend bundling up and giving yourself enough time to wander gently, perhaps linger in the tea house and enjoy the quiet. A beautiful blend of nature, history and calm that stays with you long after you leave.
Absolutely worth visiting. Stunning views around , plenty to do. We visit in autumn so the garden wasn't so spectacular but still have it's charm ✨ You can grab a coffe in the tea room next to the gardens and do a little stroll on one of the accessible walks around, admiring. Visit the Abbey inside , see the Wishing Stone and many more. Beautiful ❤️
One of the most stunning places we visited on our 1000+ mile Irish road trip. The story of this place is part of what makes it special so I'd encourage enought time for that. But the grounds are enormous. They have walking paths, gardens, and so so much to explore. We spent 4 hours here. The gift shop is one of the better ones, it carries hand crafted items from the Nuns. The restaurant is cafeteria style, but honestly, some of the better food we had on our trip. The landscape on your way here is also breathtaking. We saw the Fjords on our way north. One of our must sees for sure.
This is a gorgeous place and so much history. The walled gardens are pretty much done for the year, being October, but imagine they are spectacular in summer. It's still worth the visit, even late in the season.
This has to be one of my favourite places in Ireland. First came about 15 years ago and so happy to have had the chance to go back! The website advises at least 3 hours but honestly take your time, enjoy the quiet and the view!

Even on a rainy day Westport is a nice place to visit. Cathair na Mart in Irish, the City of the Cattle and not a cow to be seen from one end of it to the other. The brighter colors of the shop fronts and houses make the town colorful at all times of the year. It is an example that many other Irish towns would benefit from by copying. It is not be accident that this town rose to be so popular with visitors.
The name is incorrect. The Irish free state army shot glendennings head off. St Patrick has been on top of the octagon since the early 1990's. please correct this name. Lovely monument though and there is great history behind it.
Interesting and imposing in a lively central point of Westport
Nice local building in this small town!
Beautiful monument, beautiful place!

A name change would be appropriate

Small but so much history included. Lots of items from the past going back to prehistory. Knowledgeable staff. 5 euros ticket.
We visited here today and it was fantastic! The lady who greeted us was incredibly knowledgeable, both ladies were friendly and pleasant. We learnt an awful lot and really enjoyed it. Highly recommended.
A wonderful spot, a brilliant volunteer guide brought the place alive, gave a first class overview of the foundation of the town. Top class, worth finding, great walk around the area and terrific value 👏
I absolutely adore this place! Very informational and has so many genuine artefacts, it's basically the whole town of Westport in a nutshell in a single room. I'd also love to thank the lady who was working there the day I visited - not only was she a fantastic storyteller with great knowledge of the area and a very friendly attitude, but she was also kind enough to help me get a lift to get from the centre back into town.
I visited Clew Bay Heritage Centre in September. It's a small museum but they pack a lot in. Simon allowed us to browse at our own pace and was well prepared to answer our questions. It was very meaningful to me to learn more about where my grandmother came from over a hundred years ago.
Had a great time looking at the displays of local history. The guide was wonderful, and I know now to allot more time for a proper tour next visit! I loved guessing at the 10 items displayed as a contest. Learned about the area and Ireland in general, which is great coming from California to visit where my family lived long ago. Winter hours start at 10. If the door is closed, just knock!
A lovely and informative tour. Our guide was great craic and incredibly knowledgeable about the local history. I'd highly recommend it to lovers of history or antique artifacts. Even head down if you want to chat to a local about the town. The museum isn't overly busy and he'd be happy to oblige you.
Absolutely loved visiting this place! So much squeezed into a small space, learnt loads.

Attended service there on Reek Sunday and the Organ playing and singig were heavenly. The craftsmanship and beauty of the building are national treasure. The tea and biscuits and of course the chat after service was so wholesome and friendly.
A really lovely historic building! Such a great place to visit and to appreciate the architecture inside and outside the building.

We really love the place. Very calm, and almost no wind. There are toilet and parking. Beautiful place to chill with your family and friends
Lovely strand with pebbles and sand. Parking area and toilets, but height barrier. There’s a small parking area before the height barrier for motorhomes.
This place is just WOW. If you are in Westport and around Croak Patrick mountain its a must visit beach. The beach is very good for a walk and has very colorful pebbles as well. You can spend a quality time here with friends, family and pets.
Beautiful beach a short drive from Westport. Recommendes to take the alternative, scenic road out from the town.
Nice spot for star gazing and sunsets
Beautiful beach! mountains, sheep and carpark nearby
Beach itself is good and Scenery is great however during my visit the water had thousands of jellyfish and order of magnitude more than the other beaches I've been too lately, probably won't visit again.
Very beautiful place to walk, just under the mountain St.Patrick. Stony, but views are amazing
