The 18 best places to party in Westport

We came for the nightly session but didn't know they don't start till around 21.00. glad we got there about 19.30 so we got a seat next to the musician corner but people in there were so rude. Talking through when clearly says in that area it's for listening and people taking photos and videos up close with flash on - not cool. Then others complained it was busy - cause what you came for so did everyone else. So absolutely recommend for live traditional session music but don't come if you want to ignore that and want to talk to your mates and don't like crowds. If you get trad music sessions then this is the place in Westport! Drinks were the best price compared to others on the main road. I am uploading videos that were taken without flash as it should! Also please don't come in and sit at the musician corner at 20.45 and then be annoyed that you have to move - there are signs and the musicians don't rock up till after 21.00(I went on a Monday)

Had a lovely time in this lovely old worldy irish pub 😀 the staff were lovely and welcoming 🙏 the beers were excellent 😀 and the Guinness was fantastic 😀 👍 had a great time and the locals were lovely loved it 😀10/10

We went for the music. We were not disappointed. It was absolutely packed & I can see why. Fabulous place. The band were truly amazing & very strongly supported by young & old a like.

Nice bar, unfortunately the entertainment was out the back in a separate room and a cover charge.

Got to sing “Northwest Passage” here with the band. My girlfriend then also played the fiddle alongside them. Never felt more proud to be Canadian and it happened all the way in Ireland.

Went for a pint around 7pm, and had such a great time with many conversations we ended up staying till music started at 930. Stayed til 11:30. Good pints and atmosphere. Great crowd of locals and tourists.

An iconic bar located in Westport. One of the best bars in Ireland to hear some great Irish music. Get there around 8:00 PM to get a good seat. Fills up quickly

Didn’t eat here, but wouldn’t go back for drinks. Bartenders were not friendly at all and refused to make mixed drinks for Americans, but then made them for their friends who ordered right after. One acted as if he didn’t know what Tito’s vodka was. They had great live music and a lively crowd, but a very unwelcoming bunch. Americans should skip this spot and spend their money elsewhere. One of the few pubs the group had anything negative to say about.

I got the chicken burger which was just OK. My wife ordered the power salad with salmon, she received a small bowl of mixed greens, 3 slivers of salmon and no dressing. Cant believe they charged €15 for that! She asked for some dressing, the waitress came back to tell us the chef cant make the dressing without the salad - lol. They wanted to bring the salad back to the kitchen to put the dressing on it!! Atmosphere wasnt great, the place looked dirty. The staff were not very friendly either.

Very nice local bar and good music here! The outside have a small clock tower! It gorgeous and so many local event will start from this small square!

Great bar, great service, in a great town. So worth the drive from Dublin.

1 star to the waitress for trying. That's all I can say. Too much details to even describe our experience and how we felt after leaving this place. Barman very rude and bossy to the waitresses. He seems to be interested more in chatting and ordering around than doing his job!! A place to avoid for sure. Go somewhere else if you have a choice, where you can get good and quick service, drinks that you want and cold beer with your food, not after! Never again!

Little bit away from all the other pubs on main street. It was OK pints. Lady owner was pouring the bad pints and it looked not ok.. spilling all over and she didn’t care. It’s very small area to sit in.

Lovely place for a pint if it wasn’t for the one toothless grumpy old man in the front bar. The locals will know who I mean. He was insulting fellow Irish men. One day he might prove himself to people who did better than him. An Fear Brèige a ta tu.

A nice olde world pub , I will be back when I return .. One of the better pints of Guinness I had on my travels ..

As a regular visitor to Westport have heard good reports for here Pint good but not the best I have had in town A nice spot Friendly and efficient staff Don't come on a busy night if you are claustrophobic

A worker in our hotel told us to visit Toby's bar only a couple of minutes walk away.Beautiful real old pub with great photos of fishing events etc.Nearly all the locals drinking pints of Guinness and when we got ours not a bit surprised,the Guinness is the creamest pints we have had in any place in lreland and served by a happy barman Everytime.The craic seem very good and after our 2nd pint the locals drew us into their company and we had a great night.Would highly recommend this establishment to anyone and a must if your in Westport.Its a hidden place which we missed the last time in Westport.Looking forward to going to Toby again for the craic and cracking pints.

Great Guinness (I think the picture says it all) They had the match on for early KO. Friendly host welcomed us. Had pictures of the local sports teams and characters in the town. Nice they have the local vibe in there given the tourists who frequent Westport. 5 stars.

This was my favourite pub in Westport, everyone was very welcoming, I even met the owner who took five minutes for a chat, so that made a great difference,in enjoying the beer and the evening. Well done.. Yous made your town proud.. Thanks again.. The beer is great also..

A small pub with character and they know how to pour a Guinness! A Guinness commercial was filmed here re: funeral for a dead television set. Laid back ambiance.

In a week or two ago. Nice pint but I got asked to move to a different seat twice. So I get the impression it's a place for the locals.

Went in about 45 minutes before they were meant to be closed and got kicked out immediately, didn’t want our business for some reason despite loads of room in the bar. The door was open. Smiled at the bar man to say okay thanks anyway before leaving, he just stared and roared at me again that they were closed. Made a show of us for no reason at all. Very unfriendly and disappointing given the other good reviews.

Stopped in for one drink on a Saturday evening. Found the pub to have a really heavy smell of disinfectant to it. There not really many good spots to sit down in there either as well. Most people were just standing around due to this. Has an outdoor smoking area in the front of the pub. Went out here to finish our drinks and again was very little seating. Added to this there isn't much cover from the rain about half of the smoking area only (which for the west of Ireland isn't ideal with its weather). Service was OK but only stayed for one.

First bar I hit on my trip to Ireland. What can I say other that they serve good beer and I watched the horse races. No complains here. Also, have a picture of my Guinness.

My 18 year old daughter was celebrating the end of her LC with friends. She pre-purchased a ticket for 21/6/24. I checked on the website that passports were an acceptable form of ID. When she got to the nightclub, she was the last of her friends in the queue to enter. She produced her passport and was refused entry by the three overgrown thugs on the door. She was told by one of them that, ‘passports were for flying’. They left an 18 year old girl out on the streets, without a care for her safety or wellbeing. I live over an hour away so I drove there as fast as I could to collect her. Looking through previous posts, this is not the first time this has happened and looks like it won’t be the last. The owners and their staff are appalling. I have emailed a complaint twice and not received the courtesy of a reply or a refund for the unused ticket. I will no longer be using the Castlecourt hotel or its other business interests and advise others to do the same!!

Had a brilliant time at the Castle Late Night Venue for my best friend's hen party. We booked an area in Mojo floor and the music was amazing. We were out dancing from start to finish - Lots of old school pop songs and dance tunes. The staff had our props and balloons ready upon arrival and our requested bubbly. They had been a pleasure to deal with.

Never felt so uncomfortable in a nightclub in all my life!! Full of older men who grab young women (I know in this day and age!!) While the security guards stand around and watch. I was at a hen party and was grabbed by the arm and dragged across the dance floor when I told the older man where to go, I had a drink thrown on me. My friend who was with me had an older gentleman try and force her to kiss him. It’s the most VILE place I have ever witnessed. I was so worried watching younger ladies who couldn’t stand being lifted out by men at closing time. If you are a young woman or on a hen AVOID this place like the plague!!

Staying in Westport for a boozy weekend with friends and was told if we wanted somewhere to carry on drinking when the bars closed then this was our only option. Seemed quite busy although the room we were most looking forward to visiting (mojos) was closed so I wonder how quiet it would be been if all aspects were open... took a while to get served and definitely not worth the 10euro entry fee.

Wouldn't let my friend from galway in on her own passport and all her friends were in there shed no phone and when she asked them what is she supposed to do they told her to go back down to Galway at 12 at night, they were very unhelpful and rude and were allowing a young girl to wander the streets of Westport by herself late at night. WOULD NOT RECCOMEND

Catherine was so lovely and recommended great drinks for my friends and I. Definitely would come again especially after receiving such great service!

Good Atmosphere, Nice Ambience and nice Irish music

Staff were lovely however we felt the food was very mean for the price paid. Almost 19 euro for a tiny burger and a handful of chips. We ordered a portion of onion rings each and still left hungry.

A very nice place to eat and have a drink. The waitstaff was very friendly. The restaurant was clean and inviting. The food was very good. Toilets were clean.

Went on a Wednesday night when they are not usually open, so was almost empty, but it had a good vive. Good music and lovely atmosphere. Service was good and drinks were good too. Kitchen was shut and we didn't have any food. Lovely cosy seats and will be a good place for a nice night out.

My wife and myself had gone to Westport for the day and took our dog with us. So shortly after lunch feeling a bit hungry I went into cosy Joe's to see if we could have something to eat. They told me that they had a beer garden out back and we could go there which was sort of closed in and take the dog with us.

Very busy as it's one of the only properly covered outdoor dining spots in Westport. The staff were great and apologetic about little delays even though it couldn't be helped. Fish and chips were lovely and fresh, definitely recommend a visit

The food was rotten... Steak was over done and pretty bad quality meat, which I'd expect only for it was over €20. Grand place if you're going so locked you won't be able to taste a thing. Unless you're legless from drink, avoid at all costs.

Mc Ging's had been recommended by a friend from Newport the previous day. We gave it a shot on a wet miserable afternoon, and really enjoyed it. Look forward to visiting again when it's busier and some music on A genuine real gem. Good Guinness also 👌 As Arnie says "I'll be back ".

Oldest pub in Westport. While it is a locals pub, several blocks off the main center, they will be happy to have you. The owners are great people, friendly and inviting. If you want to sit in the corner alone they'll let you but sit at the bar and learn about them and Ireland, you won't regret it. The locals love talking with you as well so visit and you will walk away with new friends.

World class pub. Plenty of space to sit down and have a pint. More quiet than clubby, but fair prices and nice people. Locals were welcoming.

Stopped here for a late night dram, there was live music, a nice crowd, the staff was polite and helpful, its an old style pub, and a very nice atmosphere.

Absolutely shocking experience at this place. We arrived at around 1 o’clock on a Saturday afternoon, just looking for somewhere to watch the rugby. There were four of us, all sober, and we each ordered a drink. The pub was completely empty—no atmosphere, no other customers, nothing. Out of nowhere, the bar manager (or owner, not sure which) stormed over and started having a go at us for no reason. He was rude, aggressive, and seemed desperate to find an excuse to refuse us service. At one point, he even accused one of my friends of being drunk, despite the fact that none of us had even taken a sip of our drinks yet. It was bizarre, like he’d decided the second we walked in that he didn’t want us there and was just making stuff up. I’ve never experienced anything like it. If the place had been packed, I might have understood some stress, but it was dead—completely empty. You’d think they’d be glad for the business. Never mind had a much better afternoon watching the rugby somewhere else without giving complete edjits like himself the custom

Absolutely horrific experience at this place. Approached the entrance on a Sunday night approximately 10:30pm. There was a group of 4 of us , was told by the doorman ‘’ 3 of you are ok and one of you is not ‘’ I immediately knew he was referring to me. I suffered a brain injury last year which caused a weakness on my right side and balance issues. I explained this to the doorman and he laughed and said ‘’ yeah I don’t care go away’’ I was horrified and ask the doorman for his PSA LICENCE number which by law he is obliged to provide upon request regardless of the situation. He refused to provide this and concealed the identity card on his arm from my view! I contacted a bar supervisor by phone the next day to relay the details of the incident. He told me he would pass on the details the owner. One week on I still have had no contact from the establishment. I understand management have the right to refuse admission and that’s fine but the way I was treated by the doorman was unacceptable!

Awful. 3 of us arrived there about 7pm, wanted a pre-meal drink as we had booked An Port Mor restaurant, which was close by. The place was not busy and fairly quiet . I waited at bar to be served but was studiously ignored by a young female bar tender ( red hair tied up ). I tried several times to get her attention as she was literally a few feet away from me but she was too busy talking with people and strangely serving people who had arrived after me ??? Absolute terrible, rude customer service. Obviously we left and went across the road to the Porter House. Unlike the Grainstore , this place was very busy and lively with music, but we were served almost immediately by very friendly bar staff . Avoid the Grainstore unless you like rude, disinterested and unfriendly bar staff. Won’t be back.

My cousin was turned away for “looking drunk”, yet he and the group explained to the doorman he was recovering from a brain surgery. He even showed proof of disability and the doorman failed to apologise, take responsibility or get his manager upon request. A truly shocking display of discrimination and a lack of moral code. This establishment has lost our service.

Good place to go, but sadly limited by lack of drink choices. DJ was great, good smoking area and covered outdoor area. Great music and atmosphere of a late bar nightclub. However let down as they no longer serve cocktails for a cocktail bar. Seems a little strange choice.

I've been to this nightclub a few times now, it's really nice and spacious, the only reason it's missing a star is because I don't remember much the next day, the drinks are reasonably priced and pretty strong.

Great space to watch rugby matches. Great quality sound and enough TVs so that you can see well even if there's a crowd. And a good selection of local craft beer.

Had a hen party in westport and spent the night at this wonderful establishment. Have to say it was great craic good music friendly staff and good atmosphere. The owner mike even gave us a free bottle of lemonade when we were leaving he was a very nice man. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a good night in Westport! 5 stars :)

Great place for a late drink with reasonable prices, wasn't expecting it to be so big when I walked in.

Lovely traditional bar but unfortunately the gents toilets need a lot of work. Don't know about the ladies.

Called here on the Tuesday and Wednesday of our break in Westport. Has all the racing on TV.which I enjoyed. Has also the cheapest pint we found in Westport @€5.Friendly locals and also a friendly barmaid. Highly recommended and looking forward to visiting again in future.

Fantastic house undergoing restoration at the end of the Summer 25 season. The guided talk is well worth it, giving a good background to all the characters and the history. You can just turn up and self guide round the 3 floors, but they allow you time to explore for yourself both before and after the talk as well.

Westport House is a beautiful country house with an extremely interesting history. Guide Fionn is excellent when it comes to present its former owners and introduce you to the special rooms of the house. You should also stroll through the garden. Would highly recommend a visit (house might be under renovation for two years from now on!)

This is not a hotel. This house was built in the 1600s and remained in the family until the 1960s and then saved the house from destruction by allowing the public to visit. The family history is fascinating and well worth the visit. It is surrounded by 300 acres of woodlands on the edge of Westport, a beautiful town. 😍

Westport House is not a hotel. It is what is left of the Pirate Queen Grace O'Malley's legacy. Beautiful and Historical, the grounds and manor are gorgeous. The history inside is unknown to most Americans and eye opening. Loved it.

Our time at Westport House was like being in a fairytale! We hosted a group of 10 GoPro video and photo creators for a road trip around the Island of Ireland and we spent several hours touring the rooms and grounds of Westport House, learning about the history of the property and building, and especially about the mega renovation coming in the next couple of years. We had the most amazing visit and spent some very special time exploring the wild woodlands and fields of the property, learning about the flora and fauna. We wrapped the visit with a bespoke picnic on the lawn of the House and soaked up the views and amazing hospitality. Worth a visit now... and ESPECIALLY when the renovation is complete!!

Our initial room was too small but they immediately moved us to a more spacious one, we were very happy! Great hotel, beautiful and the reception ladies were very helpful. Easy access to the lovely main Street and town. Great pubs and delicious food!! 🍀

Cozy little gem in Westport! We were the first to arrive and enjoyed 2.5 hours just reading, looking at books, talking to the owner and eating. The food was so good and the owner was really nice! Definitely coming back next time we're in Westport.

Brilliant wine and tapas bar with a great selection of music from vinyl. Really good wines and the cheese we tried was perfect. Will definitely visit again when I'm back in Westport.

Absolutely lovely. As two young travellers, Tom made us feel at home and gave us some really good tips. The charcuterie and cheese board was amazing. Go to the website for the opening hours, the hours on google said it was closed when we went, but it was opened all day. Definitely go if you are in Westport !

The Gallery Wine Bar is a MUST visit! Delicious natural wines, delectable food served up with excellent vinyl music. Owner Tom is a real character, he’s inviting, knowledgeable and always great conversation. He took his time to chat about our wines and the importance of them being Natural, pulling books off the shelf he though we might like. The Gallery is our first, and often only port of call when in Westport…. Even the coffee is absolutely spot on. If you love natural wine, vinyls and a super chill spot, you have to get yourself there.

We had an absolutely brilliant night in The Gallery. Tom seems to spend a lot of time on sourcing some of the best quality food and mostly all local suppliers. We had the grazing plate to share and have never been hit with so many different tastes and flavours on one dish. All top quality and the rare wines were just as good. We had beautiful bottle or two of organic Rioja. The two hosts are very welcoming and had all guests chatting away throughout the restaurant. The music set the ambience and the only part of the night that outdone the food was Tom's top quality jokes and stories .

Excellent food, wine and service here. Food was delicious and very unique, you can tell the owner is very passionate and knowledgeable about the food and wine he serves. Plenty of vegetarian options too. Prices were fair for the quality.

Was our second visit to Westport and kids insisted on getting some fish and chips. The bar / restaurant is perfectly located right in the centre of the town. We got lucky with parking right outside (where you only pay for 1 hour and get a second hour for free). Service was great, food what delicious, prices were more than reasonable for what we got. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. If I had to complain about anything at all it'd be that the side salads definitely weren't fresh and we could have done without them. But it didn't spoil the overall experience here.

Service was friendly and fast. The food portions were huge! We got the mussels and had the best soda bread with it (please send recipe) Got the fish and chips and every bite was tasty. Beers on tap. Lots of space inside and outside. Can't ask for much more.

Went for a family meal Location is great Staff are friendly Food not good Chicken wings I'd give them a 5 of ot 10 Was like they where reheated, wasn't fresh anyways, Sauce is nice Chips where fine Burger wasn't good , very burnt very little cheese and looked nothing like the picture, pepper sauce was lovely though, , If it was just food would be 2 stars I'd give it a star up for staff and Location so overall a 3 Maybe was just a off day.

This small bar/restaurant was inexpensive and delicious. They a have fresh and tasty dish of muscles ready to gulp down (It’s big, so share!). Definitely visit Al File while in Westport!

Food is good, but system when you can order at the bar only after telling the number of your table, which while you wait at the bar gets taken, is really very strange.

We got right in and sat down. The staff was inviting and the atmosphere was pretty great. I recommend the chicken burger with spicy mayo. It hit the spot! It's really hard to choose from all the restaurants in town, but I'd put Cobbler's on my top five. What was also great was the kids' menu. We have somewhat of a scared eater, but the chicken goujons were the perfect selection.

I was really disappointed with my visit. Just because I ordered something small. It felt like the stuff didn’t pay much attention to me . I waited quite awhile before anyone came back to my table and then I finally wanted to order something else I was told the kitchen had already closed. It left me feeling ignored and unwelcome. Definitely not the kind of service I expected.

Just off the plane from Lanzarote 25c to land back home, covered in slight dusting of snow at just above freezing. They invented the term shell shock for this feeling. So it was really difficult not to pack it in. Well the Cobbler bar was a friendly welcome home. A warm toasted sandwich and a bowl of soul soothing soup. I had the club sandwich, with a surprising choice of chicken, which was really impressive. The vegetable soup isn't something I would normally order, but again I am happy I did. A nice pot of tea and seated by the radiator really helped bring us out of our shell. The food was delicious... Wholesome simple hearty soul soothing warmth. The wifey had the open salmon sandwich, with crab and Boston shrimp. It looked fantastic, but with the outside temperature so low, that they had to shovel the runway at knock. I couldn't believe she ordered it. That being said Irish Salmon, Crab and Soda bread is another nice simple delicious dish, but I couldn't unless the temps are in the high teens. The only thing was the toilets are in a bad place. You had to go outside in an indoor outside smoking garden to get the toilet. The Hotel is separated Irish Houses hodge podged together. So I understand that sometimes planning and layout have to give way to each other. The decor was really old style pub-like with the old odds and ends decorating the shelves. Giving a very antiquated vibe, but with a modern bright and light touch. Well thought out and impressive. Highly recommend.

I have never been to a better bar. Absolutely fantastic staff. So welcoming and warm. Drinks are fantastic. The most Irish bar in Mayo, absolutely brilliant. Genuine owners and staff, if you travel to Westport, you cant miss this pub! Amazing.

This was the best place I have ever been too. The craic was fantastic, music 🎶 unreal and wow what an atmosphere. Thanks to Emma and the staff who looked after 9 of us so well and we were a mad bunch of ladies. We will definitely return. It's a great place to find and very hard to leave. My husband and I were in Westport for the weekend and happened to stop at this Pub for a drink. Such a cosy bar in the heart of Westport! The staff are so welcoming and friendly and the atmosphere was fantastic. We stayed for the whole afternoon and evening and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We will definitely be back here on our next trip to Westport and will be recommending this bar to family and friends who visit also!

A great pub in Westport that is definatly worth a visit. Staff are very welcoming and the craic with the locals and tourists alike is brilliant. Also great for live music, sport and most importantly a great pint of Guinness.

After a few brilliant days in Westport, Moran's was our favourite pub with the best pint of Guinness to be found. Great old-style bar where everyone is very friendly. Staff are so sound, brilliant place for a night out!

Traditional Irish Pub! Great atmosphere and friendly staffs! Again serving really good Guiness Stout. Managed to land a mark with our note on the bar.

Felt very unwelcome to start with. They also fly the Palestine flag which is insulting for typically Catholic / Protestant nation. Maybe I'm wrong but that doesn't sit right with me.

Quirky pub that looks a bit like a shop from the street - give it a go!

Had a great night in Moran’s, an “alarmingly” great spot for drinks and chats with friends and family on my birthday. Unfortunately I didn’t catch the girl’s and guy’s name behind the bar, but they were lovely to deal with, looked after us and most certainly will return next time I visit Westport again. Thanks!
