Our first visit to Hestercombe. It's been on our list to visit for ages. Very lovely staff at the entrance. Explained everything we needed to know. The gardens were lovely. Unfortunately it's been so dry that they are looking a bit parched. It didn't spoil our enjoyment though. Map is easy to read. Be aware that a lot of the trails are quite hilly and rough under foot so not suitable if you have mobility issues. There are however trails that are suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs etc. We didnt use the café as we brought our own food. The café is independently run. All in all a lovely few hours wander.
Beautiful spot, a really lovely garden to walk around. Would definitely go back. 5 stars for the garden, 3.5 for the food. We went to the cafe, only a few vegan options, I have a very nice pea soup, the bread though was very dry. Husband had beetroot falafel salad and he was sure they were cauldron (brand) ones, not freshly made. Overall though, nice spot for lunch, good service and fairly priced
Our visit to the Hestercombe House and Gardens was a good morning visit just off M5. Currently being renovated it still offers an insight into the past of the house and previous uses, ground floor and couple rooms upstairs available, outside a good garden and walk through woods. Grounds a little parched after heatwave ( End of August) and need of TLC. Good restaurant on site with nice meals.
A stunning garden with accessible routes for most abilities. Enjoyed a beautiful sunny autumn walk, rounded off with lunch in the cafe. I look forward to seeing how the Hestercombe team redevelop the house if the quality of the gardens are the gauge!
Hestercombe House and Gardens is a beautiful place to visit. The gardens are stunning, with small houses, lakes, and hidden paths through the woods. It was lovely to wander with friends before heading to the café for delicious food. The staff were very friendly, and I would highly recommend visiting.
Called in on our way home from Cornwall as it breaks the journey up. Only 10 minutes from junction 25 of the M5 and fairly straightforward to get here. We arrived around 11am and it was quite busy but still able to get a space.. Headed to cafe and had a nice pot of tea and cheese scone..(scone nice and warm but butter was too hard to spread, needed to soften first).scummy though. We then visited the house and we're greeted by some friendly ladies who gave us some information sheets to read on the brief history of the house. Most of the rooms are empty from furniture but their are display cabinets with items to view and loads of pictures and history facts to read. We walked the gardens at the front of house and then headed round past the orangery and walked all the way to the top of vast rear gardens and back down the other side which is higher up and you can look down from above the water cascade ,which unfortunately this time had no water running down for full impact..quite rough and steep in places but not too bad .
Perfect place to go with a little one and dog when you aren't sure what to do and are in the area. Great for a little picnic and perfect views. Even on the cloudiest day its still beautiful.
We enjoyed our day out at Hestercombe and our dog felt welcome too. The cafe served a good variety of food that well priced. My partner had the falafel salad and I had the first finger open sandwich that were well presented and tasty. We went back after seeing the beautiful gardens for hot drinks and tasty cake. You can go to the cafe without going into the gardens if you wish

This was a surprise stop on a simple Saturday free time. The outside lures you in, a castle but a humble, clean, inviting one. The courtyard was charming and the gift shop was nice. It was fascinating to learn the history of the area I had explored for a while now. The staff were prideful and enthusiastic, helpful, and there was way more to see than expected - the history was rich, rebellious, tragic, charming. I do hope to return during special events and seasons.
It's hard to find anything that's free these days, and it's really hard to find something free that is this good! It was suggested to us by a local when we found ourselves in the area on a wet day. It's a genuinely well thought-out, structured and filled museum with a great balance of information, story, activity and exhibits. Excellent place to spend a few hours, and please be sure to donate a few quid each as you leave.
A good museum in the castle. Plenty of exhibits. Well designed galleries and a friendly face on arrival. Nice cafe with tables in & out. One of the best attractions in Taunton, and: it's free! ( Donations welcomed )
We went in with low expectations of this museum after we'd be told by someone it was just a hotel. The layout of the museum is very well thought about and we'll put together. With an almost minimalist style throughout style wise it gives you a chance to fully embrace the stocked displays. The staff were really friendly, there was no push for sales or donations (obviously we did a donation anyway). There was a kids walkthrough which kept them full emersed throughout which cost £1. It took about an hour and 20 minutes I think to get around, looking at everything but stopping to read about the things that we found particularly interesting. I'm sure you could spend more time if you truly wanted to but this was good for us. I would say if you are visiting Taunton for the day, it's definitely worth a walk around. Particular highlights for me were the revolution section as I was completely unaware of this and the heart box and the very large shoes.
A wonderful museum with its own history. Nice staff. Entrance is free, but you can donate from £5. You can also drink coffee and have a snack on the museum grounds.
We went into the museum simply to get out of the rain and ended up staying about three hours. The displays were extremely interesting and very professional and informative in presentation. Entrance price was by donation. I would highly recommend this hidden gem if you are in the Taunton area.
Very interesting and informative of the Somerset area with lots of interesting fossils and artifacts. Well worth a visit and they do not charge for entry although do suggest donation which we were more than happy to pay.
Found myself in Taunton with a few hours to spare, so thought I would visit. Really glad I did. A fantastic museum rich in content, and full of surprises. Staff were friendly and helpful and the cafe offered good food at reasonable prices. Even if you have lived in Somerset all your life you will discover something new.

Beautiful park. Great place to wander around, meet with friends for coffee or walk, take the kids to the playground, have a picnic on the lawns, sometimes live music, jazz, classical. I took some photos of the summer flowers last week.
Lovely park to walk, sit, picnic, beautiful plants trees, the river Tone runs through, there's a lake coffee stop, great children's play area, well worth a look, and very close to the town centre.
Great park that is a hidden gem! I've been trying to find a park with all a good park has to offer for years in Somerset since moving here, and this has it all! Such an unknown hero! Ice cream stand and cafe in the park too, with 2 playgrounds, crazy golf, a pond/ small stretch of water, fountain and bandstand. Brilliant place that is a new favourite space to go and enjoy 😁 (Just stick to the actual cafe, my son's pretend cafe charged £1,950 for a sandwich, would not recommend)
Lovely park - if you’re looking for the nice part of Taunton this is it. A lovely stroll, especially on your lunch break. The seagulls are something to look out for though!!
Beautiful park and well-maintained with glorious flowerbeds and the obligatory ducks!
Vivary Park was chosen to be the venue for the largest group of Branching Corrugahorn players ever assembled in one place. The idea was formulated in 1964, it was hoped that the event would take place in 1970. The Branching Corrugahorn is constructed from flexible corrugated pipe normally found in the pulmonary 🫁 care ward of a hospital. It turned out to be a logistical nightmare and it took eleven years for the event to come to fruition. On the seventeenth of July, 1975 there was huge excitement in Taunton as all the world's Branching Corrugahorn players came to town. All three of them had a great time playing together. That record still stands today.
Excellent experience, visited for short periods,in searching for refreshments, flowers are beautifully decorated, and the waterfall is very soothing.i really enjoyed it..
Lovely park, well maintained public benches, lovely spots for feeding the local wildlife, and a chance to see a local muscovy duck. The war memorial is also well maintained and held to a very pristine condition.

Had a fabulous visit here, with the tours starting at 11am. The tour guide was friendly and professional, taking into consideration the needs of the group. You got a great look at the process, including behind the scenes. The shops on site offer a taste of Somerset too. Highly recommend and want to come back when it's warmer and do some of the walks.
We had a first visit here and were not disappointed. We arrived to see the dinosaur trail and my lo was super excited. Entrance is free. The trail cost £3.50 which was excellent value. The sculptures were amazing and the trail took you around the forest area which is not too far for little legs. There were other walks which were more suited to older kids. On the day we went we were lucky enough to see some of the newborn lambs which we got to stroke and even fed their mum's 😊 We took a picnic and there were plenty of places to eat. Staff were super friendly - would highly recommend a visit 👍
The willow dinosaur trail through the woodland was excellent. There's the option to do two small circular walks through fields and partly along the River Tone (1km and 3.25km). The slightly longer one takes you up Windmill Hill and you can get a good view over the levels. There's also the lovely Lemon Tree cafe, Strippers gift shop, willow shop and a museum (pay to enter). Tours are £6 at 11am on weekdays. The sculpture workshops they do look fun! I didn't go in but there also looks to be a Pilates studio, a model ship repair workshop, and possibly a florist. The 51 bus stops just outside.
Really fascinating museum. Done really well. There is a fantastic film at the end, 40 minutes long but well worth persevering with. Great little cafe and gift shop. All the staff were very friendly.
Beautifully curated small museum exhibiting the breadth of useful products made from Willow. If you have the time, the guided tour is worthwhile especially the insight into Charcoal making.
We came through a lovely village to get here and plenty of parking and dog friendly. We walked round the Shops and met two lovely members of staff who came to see our dog's. Had a coffee at the lemon tree café and managed to get my wife a birthday present which she was told was made by a gentleman in the village who hates throwing wood away and ma.kes wooden houses. Also you can book lessons on making your own wicker animals which would be interesting to do really enjoyed it .
Went with my grandson and done the dinosaur trail ! He loved finding the dinosaurs the numbers and letters. Hot a scrumpy hot chocolate with marshmallow and cream after, then brought a little willow basket to collect our eggs at home
Great place to visit. Interesting museum, good trails for little ones with wonderful willow sculptures and opportunities for day courses learning to weave willow.

Beautiful venue to watch cricket. The ground was looking beautiful on sunny spring day. Good price for day ticket but a lack of variety of food outlets limits your choice.
We went to watch the double header women's & mens T20 we picked seats in rear of Trescothick lower stand to keep out of the sun as long as possible. Good view of game nice clear informative scoreboard and good entertainment throughout game and by a band between matches. Only disappointment price of drinks and food with queues needed a longer break between innings.
What a great atmosphere, Been for both men’s and women’s T20 and an England words ODI and everyone were have seen some great cricket. Food and drink very expensive though!
Something was wrong but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. I took a picture, walked a few yards..... and stopped to think, trying to determine the problem. Still...... nothing. Next picture, walk on, pondering my apparent dilemma. What on earth was it? Then it occurred to me. I'd travelled all the way to Taunton to watch ⌚️ a game of cricket but there was no game to see. I stood and watched the groundsmen for a few hours instead.
A beautiful day in the West Country, a well attended and great day's cricket, yet most of the catering outlets were closed. Possibly this was because the ground authorities thought it would all be over by lunchtime (this was day three) but no, the game lasted untill stumps on the fourth day. Sedgemoor Services did a roaring trade as Worcester supporters north up the M5. Loved the cricket and the view from high behind the wicket, but this famous old ground could do better.
Great place to watch cricket small ground lots of seating options. Well versed staff and happy to help, good cricket shop as well. Can be a bit patchy on food options when not a big event. Easy to access by train or road. Lots of interaction on vitality blast days and Metro cup events. Juniors are well catered for and made to feel welcome. Players are all approachable and happy to interact with the crowd. Great atmosphere at all times.
Good viewing. But buy a ticket via web site as you can’t get in except by the main gates where you can pay , other entrances are tickets only ( bar code scanner) and cheaper then turning up on the day. Refreshments are good and easy to find no cash card only. You can bring own snacks etc.
Attended Somerset Vs Lancashire match. Family day was also on. Only let down was that by 5pm, all the eateries had closed, and the bars lacked soft drinks and water.

The Quantock Trekking experience is superb and the owners were extremely friendly and made us feel right at home! The 3 day riding experience was great fun and the horses are really well looked after which is great to see! 10/10
A very nice place to go. I was really impressed by the general air of cheerfulness and competence, and the way that the horses, the tack and the yard itself were so well looked after despite the weather we've had! Lovely to ride out over the Quantocks on the carefully chosen routes that make the most of this beautiful area. Thank you indeed.
Fantastic experience had by me and my wife. Wife had rode before, I never had. Excellent service from first phone enquiry to completion of booking. Really enjoyed the occasion and if you've ever thought about riding but were too nervous or unsure about it please don't hesitate to use Quantock Trekking. A big thank you to the girls in the yard for making it a truly memorable day.
Brilliant ride, lovely horses and very friendly staff - would highly recommend. The stables are right at the foot of the hills so you're straight up into the countryside immediately as the hack starts. Beautiful views.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable day trekking yesterday for my partners birthday. I have ridden before however this was my partner's first time riding and everyone was very friendly and helpful in making him feel comfortable and safe. The trek itself was lovely and we enjoyed the beautiful views of the countryside and the Quantocks. We would highly recommend Quantock Trekking and would defintely go again!
Just a brilliant morning, beautiful yard, horses so well cared for, staff fabulous with us as newbies. Highly recommend, also is a B&B with s fantastic pub a 1 minute walk away. Cant thank the lovely team enough x
Had a wonderful Sunday afternoon with five friends all of us novices Alana, Alex and Erin were so professional, patient and understanding with us. Horses behaved perfectly. Would highly recommend. TC.
My favourite hacking place in the UK. Wonderful family run business, friendly people, lovely horses and the most beautiful scenery and views. Reasonable prices too! Highly recommend.

This is a great place to visit for children. Interactive and looks so much bigger than you realise. Parking is an issue if busy. Really helpful and welcoming. Lovely cafe cakes and tea. Nice garden.
What a wonderful find. A delightfully layed out museum with very well kept gardens. We especially liked the period agricultural & war displays, adding a nice touch to the museum. The tour was finished in their lovely cafe. Light food including fresh cakes & scones, washed down with tea coffee all at very reasonably prices. All served by a very welcoming member of staff. Whilst there, we discovered an elderly couple who had travelled by bus & the West Somerset railway. We went by car with the car park only a couple of minutes from entrance. We weren't disappointed by the mill not working as everything is all in place anyway showing all the machinery as it was. A great visit, which we would highly recommend.
A charming water mill at the end of the West Somerset Railway - 5 mins easy walk, with nearby bus stops too. Friendly staff, lots of exhibits. Nice cafe & garden. Well presented. Modest entrance prices. Well worth our small detour after our train ride.
Went here today via steam train from minehead… we already knew about this place it’s brilliant, very small but absolutely packed with things to look at and learn!, spent nearly 2 hrs there before realising it!…. Ended with a lovely cup of tea too.., lovely friendly ppl really worth a visit and not far from train station….. such a shame it’s not advertised at the station, poor show from them I think!. We used google street maps and only few minutes walk and great pub with very nice food on the way 😉 Highly recommended
Went on the steam train from Minehead and looked for places to visit and found the mill.....well worth a visit amazing place wonderfully set up and beautiful location. .... also a lovely little cafe.
Well the mill is there and several displays of related 19th century (or earlier) tool making and maize grinding, but the water no longer runs through it. The stream itself now follows a different course as a result of private landlord squabbles. It's a pity as a running mill would be much more exciting.
Brilliant.. left it a bit late in the day for our visit, but they were so accommodating. Coffee and cake good too. I've lived here in Lydeard for many years.. never visited it.. it's a Charity, and such a gem of a place
Lovely afternoon spent with the family especially for the little ones. The team room was also great! Kind and friendly were the hosts.

Woodlands is so unique and a fantastic wedding venue so many photo opportunities as well as friendly helpful staff with great food and bar you cant go wrong!
We love Woodlands Castle, it is situated on the outskirts of Taunton, Somerset and is the perfect location for a country wedding. We had the privilege of photographing a wedding here recently which is a dream come true for the both of us as it is such a beautiful setting for wedding photographs. Set in private grounds with the prettiest 17th century country house, beautiful parkland for photographs (and the fact we live 10 minutes away!) makes this one of our favourite venues in Somerset! The staff were friendly and very professional and made sure the wedding day ran smoothly, we look forward to returning again soon to photograph another wedding.
My favourite place for a meeting. Have visited here many times now with my company Lifetime Training, including today ( Jess looked after us very well - thank you). Lovely dining room area suitable for a meeting of 20 or so people, and lots of smaller spaces that can be used for groups/working space. The beautiful environment inspires relaxed, positive, and productive meetings. The lunches offered are simple but enjoyable and much better than the limp sandwiches you find on offer elsewhere. Totally recommend.
My husband and I wanted a church wedding but chose this incredible place to hold our wedding reception. They were magnificent from start to finish! Our personalised wedding planner, Bella, and the team there could never do enough to help us in the lead up to the big day. They tailored everything we wanted to our hopes and our budget and made us feel that we were their only clients because they were so attentive! On the day itself, traffic meant we were running late from the church, this wasn't a problem. The itinerary for the day was orchestrated with smooth ease, the different meals for children, vegetarians etc. were sorted without a second glance. They even catered for my long-term allergies with no extra cost or fuss. You'd imagine that would come with a hefty price tag but another amazing thing about this beautiful place is that it is really a steal compared to the other venues around and there are no hidden charges, everything clearly laid out for you! It was the best day of our lives!!! Thank you Woodlands Castle!
I've attended 3 Weddings here this year, each to their own has been brilliant. Very well organised, staff are always friendly. Such a great setting for Weddings & other events such like.
Had our wedding here September 2016 and the amazing but the staff really made sure it was a day to remember. Beautiful location and grounds that all our guests enjoyed and the staff couldn't do enough for us. Especially Roxanne our wedding coordinator, she was fantastic, especially as we had only 13 weeks to plan! Thank you Woodlands for the best day ever!
Nice venue but utterly abysmal with approx 100 diners waiting carried out by only 4 youngsters so the last table was served about an hour after the first! Quality was non existant with my Mushroom risotto consisting of about 3 chopped mushrooms in a good mush of rice with a tasteless paper like attachment. I had to complain three times before anyone came and by that time the pudding of solidly baked tart with a minute scraping of filling with a single raspberry had arrived. My dinner probably cost about £2 and the cost was £40!
I've been to the last two tribute nights here and had a great time at both. The staff were so friendly and it was easily accessible for my friend who uses a wheelchair. Great atmosphere and doesn’t cost the earth. Can’t wait for the next one!

Lovely walks along the Bridgwater & Taunton Canal - easy stroll along the canal side toe path. It's a recreational place. We started off on this leg from the Fair Field in Bridgwater Somerset, went along, under the M5 and along out towards 'the Zoylands' ... We went past 3 or 4 WWII Pillboxes which formed part of 'the Taunton Stop Line', to try and stop part of an inland river invasion. Of course, these pillboxes are overgrown, but you can see in to some of them. Sadly a few are covered in the scourge of graffiti. You could walk all the way to Taunton, but we didn't get that far. We'll carry on next time. It's a pleasant walk, no climbing involved. A pub or two along the way also.
very good for paddle boarding, we have managed to do the entire canal 24.1 km in eight hours of continuous paddling on our kayaks!
A lovely sunny day to walk the dogs and have a peaceful walk along the canal. Take time out on your way round to have a swift half at the bar or if you fancy something lighter there's a cafe next door. The dogs enjoyed having a swim and watching the paddle boarders going up and down the canal, whilst we enjoyed having a chat with other people enjoying their walk🚶‍♂️
A little slice of paradise. Very friendly staff, beautiful location. Open Thursday to Sunday. Fish and chip cruise, paddle board and canoe hire, boat hire… perfect!
Great walk with the dog. Dog bins scattered about. Weather sunny and not too cold. Free car park which closes at 6pm. Car park is by bridge no 26. Saw a heron looking for his fish dinner as well.
We enjoyed a pleasant visit here cycling along the side of the canal towards Taunton. The tow path is part of the National Cycle Routes and I would say is reasonably suitable for all abilities. Loose stones on the path can be a little unnerving and there are slopes up to the crossing roadways. Wonderful lock gates to view on route. Much flora and fauna including kingfishers which dart past you!…Tea rooms at Maunsal Lock which we didn’t stop at but appears to be popular and also has public toilets available. The tow path does narrow in places… some cyclists go extremely fast which we witnessed…they appear to ring their bell or sound a horn as they come up behind you to give you time to get out of the way. Pedestrians take priority so please be polite!..we are “leisure cyclists” so just went along at our own pace…very enjoyable …disability access depending of disability possible…access to tea rooms is fully disability friendly with disabled toilet available. Parking requires some research as it depends on where you start your cycle ride from!
Wonderful ride for walking, running, cycling, enjoying nature.
Great strip of water full of fish for anglers and kingfishers. Also seen herons, cormorants, egrets, ducks (mostly malady but also seen mandarin), swans and moorhens. In summer it's a great place to spot dragonflies. So take your camera but not just for the wildlife. For those who can get up early or willing to stop out a little later it's a nice location for sunrises and sunsets. Also with the canal being lined by trees and having several bridges crossing the canal there are opportunities for interesting reflection photographs.

Lovely little theatre. Comfortable seats and all have a good view. Pre ordered drinks for the interval which were waiting for us. Paid a small charge to park in Morrisons and only a 2 minute walk. Show was good too.
This wonderful theatre was the final stop on our 7 month tour of The Smartest Giant in Town. The space was perfect for our show. The staff were kind and friendly. We really enjoyed performing our show here.
A lovely cosy venue in which to experience an opera. The seating was wonderful, very comfy and well arranged, so that you felt part of the performance. The bar was well stocked with local beers and cider and the volunteers were welcoming and helpful. We had a brilliant evening and would definitely visit again.
Saw Suzi Ruffell a few weeks back. Nice venue and friendly staff. Nice room (not to big) for the show.
Live music at its best. Having to use crutches makes it difficult to watch live music in crowded venues but having a seated audience makes it accessible.
Great music, staff really good Not good when people start standing and dancing blocking view of the stage. Need to tell people to stay seated. If want to dance get seats at the back or have a designated dance area
Really good venue, staff very polite and friendly. Went to watch Dom Joly 'Work in progress' show, and had a fantastic evening. Comfortable seating and sound was spot on. Would definitely go again
A real old fashioned theatre. Spent some time here across this year seeing different shows. From Science Live and Dinosaur Live amgost the highlights to Children's workshops, making Monsters with book authors. Lots of audience participation from all the shows. Great, friendly, accommodating staff. Cute little snack bar with alcoholic and soft drinks available. It's the red velvet flip down seats that takes you back to your childhood and the stage is right there!!! There is no car park, so park on the edge of town and walk in. A piece of history still bringing joy.

I love it here. Beautiful Medieval Church. Close on 1000 years old. Very peaceful with a lovely cafe. Volunteers run the cafe and the array of homemade cake are to die for. All too tempting as it’s part of The Church. Free entry. But cafe has hours of opening and closing. It’s also a nesting place for Peregrine Falcons. There is a webcam so you can watch them. There’s a clutch of 4 eggs now. And the parents taking it in turns. Do visit.
Two lovely ladies standing guard inside. It's late, I'm tired. Please refer to previous houses of the holy reviews. Now look at the pictures. Glory be to him/her on high.
Wow what a Church. The history is fantastic the touching of the pinkish pillars date from 1308 was very moving for me. What those stone pillars have seen over the the 700 odd year is quite incredible. If only they could talk. Everything within the Church is mind-blowing. This is English History at it's best. If you get a chance to see it for yourself you will not be disappointed. Wow, totally amazing. A must see.
An interesting visit to the Taunton Cathedral earlier, definitely worth taken Photos too! 🤔 📸 ⛪️
Amazing church to look inside. Lots of military remembrances in the soldiers corner. Sir Robert Gray , Peregrine Falcons nest to see , and the St Mary Magdalen. Plus a very good coffee shop and staff very welcoming. Thank you 🙏
Visited here today during a trip to Taunton. Extremely welcoming without being overbearing lady greeted us and gave us a brief overview of the building. No pressure to donated upon entry. Coffee area and small gift shop inside the church. Stunning stained glass windows with wonderful detail. The wooden ceiling with angels each holding a different shield was a beautiful piece of art work in its own right. We were then invited to view via remote video link peregrine’s who were sitting on four eggs in a nest on top of the tower!..overall well worth a visit. Disability access throughout and disabled toilets / gender neutral toilet available. Parking could be in a public car park close to the church but this is quite small so I expect would fill up quickly so other public car park/s might need to be used. Pleasing grounds which are well kept around the building
This is a lovely old church, that has been at the heart of the town for a millennium. Recently given the title of Minster to reflect its importance. I've been before for a number of musical events, but on this occasion, it was to see the Gaia exhibition. I had missed the Moon exhibition previously, so was really keen not to miss this one. It didn't disappoint! The appearance of the globe in the middle of the church is quite stunning. You easily imagine how the astronauts felt as they looked down upon the "good Earth" from so far away. I actually found it a bit surprising that so many people didn't recognise the land masses. The cloud formations obscure quite a few coastlines, but even so, I thought that there was sufficient to allow people to identify continents, if not countries. I was particularly pleased to see some young children at the exhibition. This is their world too. As part of the event, they have a small display to promote local conservation efforts. It's worth checking out, as different groups are working hard with little publicity and they deserve a bit more credit. It's also worth pointing out that there is a Peregrine Falcon nest on the roof of the church, and the eggs hatched in the last few days. A live camera feed to a screen in the corner of the church allows you to watch without disturbing them. It's very popular!

Great for kids and grown-ups alike. £1 or £2 entry applies to your kids only. Nice soft play area with slide, and toys, etc. Very clean. Cafe area is large, spacious for your pram / stroller, and clean. Comfortable seats. Great food, including decent coffee, smoothies, salads, and great panini menu. Clean toilets. Close to town centre and car park. Friendly and helpful staff. They host birthdays. Only thing is some of the soft toys are a little scabby and worn. They could do with a cleanup. Or donate something new for them! :)
Good place to bring the kids. Butcher sourced meat for the sandwiches, good bread.
We visited Shakees today with my sister, nieces and nephew. The play area itself was decent, not too big but great for ages 0-7. My eldest niece is 7 and she had a great time. I also ordered a picnic box which I thought was brilliant value for £4. We moved tabled to be closer to the toddler area so we could see the kids better and there was a slight mix up with some of our food that one of the staff members had moved.. at first I politely asked where my snack was and the girl told me it wasn't my food, it wasn't my table. I then politely explained to her it was my food... I had just purchased it then swapped tables but she was adamant it wasn't mine... Which was really strange and embarrassing for me. It was only a sausage roll but she was really defensive and her customer service skills were non existent. Luckily we found the missing food.. turns out she had put it on the floor whilst wiping the tables.. it wasn't a huge deal but the way the girl acted made me feel like I was lying about buying food and then I watched her walk to the kitchen ranting and raving about me.. which just angered me further and made me want to write this review. So yes... Nice place, okay food but the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I understand it's just a kids soft play area but being accused of lying wasn't really appropriate. May be back, won't order anything from the tills again as I feel like the girl told everyone I was trouble when it fact she had just made a simple mistake. No apology was made. You need to learn how to treat your customers! Maybe a receipt so I can prove I've bought food instead of being accused of lying about a sausage roll lol! X
We had my son 4 th birthday party there and it was wonderful. From the minute he walk in he was made to fill very special. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They put all the decorations up before we come in. Food was very good and plenty enough for all the parents to tuck in 😜
I used to love taking my boys here during a shopping trip to Taunton but this last time has put me off for good :( It was super busy so I did understand that some things don’t get done but the toilets were foul. Dirty and smelly, and in need of a good clean, surely they need to be priority for a soft play area?! Such a shame as they soft play area, although small, was great to spend an hour before dragging my boys around the shops :(
Great food and reasonably priced, smaller sized soft play however lots of fun, clean with a good selection of toys and sepeate area for babies
It's a friendly environment for the kids to have fun and the food is really nice and the staff are very nice and friendly
Good place for my 2 grandchildren to play at, can be overcrowded during school holidays. Very polite and courteous staff.

One of the best waterfalls in the world. Has such a local charm amongst the glorious Somerset countryside. The sheer power of the waterfall is immense and sent shivers down the spine. I spent 15 minutes mesmerised by its divine beauty unable to speak. I would recommend as an absolute must visit for anyone lucky enough to come to this area. Proposed to my wife here and she’s yet to cheat on me, fingers crossed!
Nice little addition to a pleasant walk around a park, though the Thatchers can as a centre piece was a little strange.
The waterfall was not flowing when I visited in June 2025 as we have not had enough rain. You can walk through the woods to the village or go over the access railway line to continue to walk through the woods.
A pleasant walk with the daughter and wife. A small bridge near the waterfall to just take in wildlife. Near the waterfall is a large field to play in. Many dog walkers walk this path and all seem friendly.
Years ago we lived in Trull. Children loved going to the waterfall and climbing down into the stream and played on a dry spot known as Monkey Island. And when we had that massively cold winter in the dev, the waterfall froze. The most amazing spectacle. It had been in full flow, and it froze into something magical. Never forgotten. Don’t live far from it now, but partially disabled, so can’t walk through the fields. Do visit. It’s well worth a visit. It’s totally free.
Not much rainfall so it was lacking a bit today but still a nice place to take the dog for a walk
Nice morning stroll through King George V field to the waterfall and then on through Queen Elizabeth II field and back around to the Winchester Arms via the road. The waterfall was bigger than I expected and worth a look.
Very nice place , i just walked around an hour to reach this place but i didnt feel the pain on my legs . Very attractive place , i picked some apples from a house with their permission. Fabulous people around there . Bring some foods n juices so that u can enjoy a lot . 😉😉😉

Always welcoming, helpful and very friendly staff and sort out everything for me when I booked a holiday with them.
Taunton town centre is looking very tired and not as nice as it once was. Look beyond this though, down some of the side streets and slightly away from the main area and things are much better and worth a visit. Dont let first impressions mar your visit.
Always worth a visit - lots of information available. Worth a visit. Helpful staff.
Very helpful staff and lots of leaflets telling you what's on and historical info. Also there is a computer to fact check.
They couldn't be more helpful.

Beautiful spot in Somerset, almost an untouched area. The woodland trail in particular was superb, absolutely covered in bluebells with plenty of wildlife to keep you entertained along the way.
Several different walks all clearly marked. Definitely worth a wander round.
the actual long walk was closed off but we sat in the bird hide and it was lovely
Done both the walks nice and easy with beautiful views and helpful if you fancy hiding from the sun for the day
Aug 2025. As visitors to the area we were not aware dogs not allowed so we tried the scarp trail which was closed until further notice, so sadly didn’t get to explore anything.
Part of it was closed due to covid, that part and another part is wheel chair friendly and has a good view of the country side. Did not walk the main route on our visit but the way we did go was nice woodland. We encountered a big decline towards the end of the more rugged part and the path lead to a road, so we turned back.
Great place to relax. There's a short walk which dogs are not allowed on, and another that's dog friendly but very very steep with hundreds of steps. Free car park but donations welcome.
Lovely small wood with lots to see. Good access including wheelchair route. Particularly liked the heronry hide. Can get a bit busy, choose your time to visit well

A very good venue for any event. Large enough to host a book launch or a concert and yet cosy. Great stage, lighting. Good bar. Centrally located. Good car parks nearby.
Me and some friends went to a barn dance evening held here in Feb and had a wonderful time! Toilets were clean, drinks were really reasonably priced, the location was great and the staff were lovely. However the caller of the barn dance was a bit pants, confusing and short tempered with people. If there was another caller I think everyone would have had a 5 star night.
A wonderful venue in the center of Taunton. The space is airey and well lit. Full of beautiful natural light throughout the day. Perfect for a gallery. The current exhibition is a showcase by Tauntons "Go Create " members and has some superb pieces work on display. Sculpture, paintings and photography. The venue also hosts live performances, bands, musicians, open mic nights and relaxed poetry evenings. A licensed bar also serving great tea and fine coffee. On my visit I was greeted by a the owner who is full of enthusiasm for the works on display. It is a pleasure to visit and I shall be recommending this venue to others. 😀
Hired CIC for a private book launch event. Andrew could not have been more helpful in advising on layout and lighting etc and it was perfect on the night. Such a great venue with excellent acoustics, professional lighting, flexible layouts plus a full bar. Will definitely use again.
What a hidden gem! Lovely welcoming venue for an event, warm and comfortable with a great bar with decent wine and nice staff. Well worth a visit
Lovely venue. I came for the first time this week to an event. It's a beautiful space, lovely staff and excellent facilities. Will definitely be back!
Really great evening, the music was excellent, the people running the event were friendly and well organised definitely recommended.
I did my 1st gig here last Saturday. It’s a great little venue for both performances and audiences alike comfortable table seating ,adequate sized stage. The main Hall is littered with local art & the bar is well stocked & the staff are super helpful
