Really interesting, tells the history if the tower and battles that occurred there. Great views from the top, worth a visit.
Worth a trip... by car or by bike. We usually make it a bike trip from Bardolino. During Lunchtime it is closed, so make sure to come before or after 😜 the weather should be good as well. It is not only a tower, but tells a story within from bottom to top. If you only want to reach the top it will take you five minutes, but if you want to follow the story it will take you one hour... a story about Kaiser Franz, Sissi, Austria, Italy and France... be prepared 🫵😎
Very nice place to visit. Set in beautiful grounds with a museum, the tower is very impressive and definitely worth a visit .Really enjoyed the time we spent here.
Super nice place to visit! Is not so crowded because is not in the tourist area, but you should visit this place is such an interesting place! The story is well explain you can go up in the Tower is hard work but they have nice uniforms, guns, instruments, and also the explanation trough the floors are So nice! And the the view is.... you have to visit it! I really enjoyed the time. Also you make a lot exercise haha hard to go to the top, but totally worth it! Have a nice visit 🤗
Interesting information and story regarding the first world war inside of the tower. The view from the top is amazing. It is worth it to check.
Incredible views and history of the independence campaign and others. Worth to walk to the top. Beware! They only take cash ! Spoilt only by the miserable guy in the ticket office who looked through us like we weren’t there even though we smiled and tried to engage in conversation. He seemed nice enough to the Italian visitors. Robots without prejudice will soon replace people like him. Don’t miss the near by Ossuary. Ossario di San Martino
Lovely local site. The tower, museum and ossuary are worth to visit if you're in surroundings of lake Garda. The site is between Sirmione and Desenzano. No need for advance bookings, you will purchase a ticket on site. The area is surrounded with a number of great local agriturismos, wineries and restaurants.
Easy to get there. There was no queue at the entrance and had plenty of time to visit whole tower. Nice view from the rooftop.

Beautiful view. Challenging aalk up the stairs from the bottom but worth every step!
Nice little castle overlooking the town of Desenzano. We were visiting on the first Sunday of the month when the entry is free, so we didn’t have to pay for the tickets. Dogs can enter only if they are carried by their owners in their arms throughout the visit. You have a really nice view of the city and the lake Garda from the tower.
It's a very amazing place as you will able to see the lake from the highest level
Underwhelmed - walked up the hill went inside (half covered for renovation and courtyard preparing for an event) tickets need to climb a tower for a view so gave that a miss. Walked back down to lakeside for lunch - that is all
It was good for views and very clean and tidy. Unfortunately for an English speaking person there was not much info on the walls telling me about the history. Cheap to get in and no queue.
From outside you face a stunning view, not only of the castle itself but also the surroundings. Beautiful place to take photos, enjoy the view and feel the special sensation of staying around this architetture from centuries ago. It's a place set for a variety of events as well.
The fort is just ok but the quantity village is worth the drive for lunch. Exit the fort go right and the last restaurant on you left just past the bar makes the best piani along with draft beer. But by patient only one woman serving and she will tell you the same but in true italiano. Worth the trip, best restaurant in the village.
Nice to see the history of this castle which is a focal point of Sirmione. You need head for heights to get to the top of the tower and to climb lots of steps, but worth it for the view.

Lakeside villa remains dating back 2 millennia, known for delicate mosaics of animals & flowers.
Slide 1 of 8
For a small ticket price you get to see the remains of a Villa Romana. The audio guide can be downloaded from the app/play stores for free. Thanks to the guide you’ll really imagine better how beautiful the villa must have been. For instance, there used to be a large swimming pool with a view on Lake Garda. An ancient infinity pool! Some mosaics have been well preserved. You’ll find better preserved villas in (for instance) Sicily, but the combination of the mosaics, the explanation of the audio guide make visiting it worthwhile.
An excellent site - very well presented with some beautiful examples of mosaic flooring. Considering the age of this property the condition of the footings and flooring was impressive!
Molto bella e ben mantenuta. The Villa Romana di Desenzano del Garda is one of the most important archaeological sites in northern Italy from the late Roman period. Located in the town of Desenzano del Garda on the southern shore of Lake Garda, it was a luxurious lakeside villa built between the 4th and 5th centuries AD. It is thought to have belonged to a wealthy landowner, possibly involved in agriculture or trade in the region. The villa is especially famous for its well-preserved floor mosaics, which depict hunting scenes, wild animals, cupids fishing, and elegant geometric patterns — giving insight into the refined taste and lifestyle of the Roman elite. Excavations, started in the late 1920s, revealed the residential quarters, reception rooms, baths, and service areas. Today, the site includes a small museum displaying artifacts found there, such as ceramics, coins, and tools, along with interpretative panels that help visitors visualize the villa in its prime. Because of its location and decorative richness, the Villa Romana di Desenzano is often compared to the mosaics of Aquileia and Ravenna, and it offers a unique glimpse into the transition from the Roman Empire to the early Middle Ages in northern Italy.
A gem of a site. We nearly missed out - only found out about it when we bought a ticket for the castle in Sermione which included entry to this excavation. Not a huge place - but impressive mosaics and ruins. We viewed it in about 30 mins. Worth it.
Layout of the villa was quite extensive. The under floor heating system is ingenious. Clearly a family of substantial means built the villa. PS It was fun watching archeologists at work as they exposed and cleaned the mosaic tiled floor.
Impressive mosaics and great explanations of how the villa is laid out. Surprisingly large and amazing to think what has survived underground for thousands of years!
Really lovely place, beautiful in its setting and interesting in its subject.
Well worth a visit. Not too expensive at 5 Euro’s and very interesting. Doesn’t take to long so won’t take all day either (1/2hr - 1hr)

A great way to visit Garda Lake and to reach out other cities around the lake by boat/ferry.
Took a short ferry ride from Desenzano to Sirmione on a Saturday in mid October. Would recommend queuing for tickets for at least 20 mins before departure time. Our ferry was an hour delayed before departure, even though it was docked for a good 30 mins before they opened the gates to the platform. The journey itself was quick, boat was clean, and disembarking was easy.
Whilst in Lake Garda we used the public ferry to travel to other areas of the lake which I would highly recommend as the views are breathtaking! The ferries themselves were clean, tidy and had toilet’s. I would recommend getting to the dock a good bit of time before your boat is due as queues are likely and it’s a first come first serve even if you have a ticket. We were in Lake Garda, May 2024 and there were queues waiting to board to go places and also coming back. The ferry crew are helpful and polite, you can purchase tickets online, at a kiosk or even on board the ferry. Getting on the boat and coming off is easy and quick as there are ramps. There is also levels to seating and if you want to be inside or outside feeling the breeze.
Bad, very bad they lie to you ferries don't show, leaft on the dock for hours on the sun don't do it the return from semione will spoile your holiday.
Cons: Expensive, 13€ per person + 4.50 for bike. This is round trip. If you don't have a bike there are trips for 9€. They are going to be slightly late. Pros: The staff is friendly. They allow bikes on board. You can get a discount from certain hotels, check with them before buying. The experience is nice, the staff is friendly. We got the tickets right before boarding (end of April). It was pretty empty. There is also an option of all day for €34. (The boat rides take a long time, so expect a very very busy schedule if you plan to make more than one spot)
They cancelled the trips for the entire day because there's wind in the very morning. They also don't accept refunds an say send an email
I travelled with my colleagues around 20:00 from Lazise to Sirmione on 29th September 2023. We needed to catch a boat to Peschiera and really nice boat staff helped us. In this way, I would like to thank the staff for their help. The overall experience of travelling by boat was amazing.
We found the ferries to be a lovely relaxing way to get around Lake Garda. The fast ferries can get a bit hectic & anywhere near Sirmione was really crowded, however, we found some of the less popular towns delightful. A special mention to the ticket seller at Desanzano - he went out of his way to review our proposed route for the day & marked all the ports on our timetable. A big shout out to the crew on Baldo - they were super nice in checking where we were going & telling us how many stops etc. Sure we experienced delays and a bit of disorganisation but, hey this is Italy.

Beautiful church filled with framed paintings. There is no entrance fee. The church has signs saying bare shoulders aren't allowed inside, but no one was enforcing that rule when we came. I'd bring a shawl just in case, but no one was checking at the door or preventing entry.
Nice little church in town and walking area by the lake.
Beautiful church, you get the best and full view of it when you go visit the castle
I wasn't looking for a glorious venue to stare at beauty as a tourist; when I go to Mass I want a place to be with the Lord and the Eucharist. This may not be as prestigious as other Italian churches, but I was thankful for its presence here locally while vacationing -- and the beauty of the bells ringing out to the community in the piazze in vicino 😊
A large church in the centre of Desenzano. It's not the prettiest of churches inside or out but visit the place if you are in the town
Beautiful ancient church in downtown Desenzano.
So we have here a beautiful church. Rich in history: contact with other human beings, and enthusiasm, the sacred sense of Service .
A place to pray or reflect . Don't go inside when they have a service ..or maybe stay at the entrance and be quite and no photos . :D

A must see! We did the Gold Plus Package and it was a sensational experience. Well worth the money! Ended up staying 3 hours and chatting to the owner and the girls working there. It was simply delightful, would highly recommend!!
OK winetasting, not so good after sales. We came here in may 2023 for a tasting. They spoke english. Two huge dogs guarding the entrance. Some wines better then others. We decided to buy some white and red wines. Including their most expensive one. They were sealed with wax. Unfortunately when we opened the red ones, they were all spoiled and sour. Weird, because they weren't at the tasting. I also let others try and they said the same. I felt embarrassed when we had guests. I contacted the business about this. By phone and digitally. But no response.
It was simply delightful, would highly recommend!! We did the Gold Wine Tasting and it was a sensational experience.Lugana and Ripasso della Valpolicella are delicious.
Dropped in for a wine tasting- however it was reservations only. The owner still kindly explained the wines to us and we purchased 2 glasses of wine for a group of 6- beautiful winery, very warm and welcoming owners, had an amazing time!
This vineyard has amazing wine and such a fantastic service and beautiful surroundings! Definitely worth a visit!
Honestly, wish I could give it more. The staff is amazing and friendly. I really enjoyed the self curated wine tasting where I was given the history of all the wines from the wine farm and then allowed to choose which ones I would like to taste for my pairing honestly, a 10/10 experience would hurry back.
Really nice tasting experience with two babies. No rush and we felt really welcome to be there.
A drop in without reservation. Charged 12 euro for testing three of their wines and some simple bread. Was not impressed with presentation but hopefully and probably the experience is better if you reserve a tasting and get a proper guide. Not worth the money, have had better experience and tasting in the area for free.

(Translated by Google) #Accessible ♿ The monument to the aviators of the high-speed unit is impressive but I believe it is placed in the wrong position. Place in Piazza Matteotti between bars, pier and a lot of confusion loses the meaning they would like to convey. Desenzano was the headquarters of this department where they developed the "Idrocorsa" or seaplanes created to break speed records. In viale Motta 56 there is the entrance to the Military area, but I recommend taking the walk along the lake in the direction of revolver to get a good look. A terrace with a balustrade makes me imagine the military nooses intent on observing the Idrocorsas.

A beautiful waterpark in the countryside. Three splendid swimming pools with three different water slides that my kids and I really loved. You can rent sunbeds or use your own mats under a tree in the park. There is a picnic area but it is also possible to buy food, snacks and to get something fresh to drink. A great summer family day, thank you Le Ninfee!
A great day out with kids and no queues and a chance to go as many times on rides as you want.
Found this hidden gem a taxi ride from Sirmione. Ideal for a day out for families. Seemed to be no tourists except ourselves. Great spot with water slides and 3 pools. Not big but a change from other overpriced attractions.
Great location for vacation and swim training.
Nice but a bit old and unfortunately skid is closed during lunch time. But very good that not too much people go there.
Food area a bit dirty. Pool area had only three slides. Not worth €30 for a family of 4

Well worth your time! We enjoyed this museum. For a relatively small place, it held a vast collection of this area’s ancient artifacts, in displays with written information (Italian & English) including the time period and vivid descriptions. It was interesting to see how advanced civilization was 3000-4000 years ago. In the first floor, don’t miss the TV screen where you can sit and watch short but effective videos of your choice that explain nearby ancient sites; including the Ancient Roman Villa in Desenzano, the Grottoes of Catullus in Sirmione and those of Toscalano. These provided so much background of the construction of these significant sites along with amazing images to show how they would have appeared when inhabited during ancient times. None of this level detail was provided on site for the Roman Villa and Grottoes which we had visited earlier, and it really enhanced our understanding and awe of these structures. Maria was extremely helpful and friendly during our visit; and speaks Italian, English and French. We highly recommend this museum.
This is a great Museum based in an former convent. The exhibits on neolithic life in and around the lake are very informative and well presented in good English. It really brings the way they lived on the lake to life through an engaging collection of artefacts.
Really lovely museum with fantastic staff.
Very lovely place and very interesting artefacts, a cool thing that first Sunday of the month is free entrance
We drove madly to reach here 30 min before it closed. Main purpose was to see the relics of the Unesco World Heritage Site " Prehistoric Pile Dwellings around the Alps". Decaying wooden houses and ancient farming equipment.
Nice little museum and worth a visit, if only to see what is reputably the World's oldest plough
Very well maintained, lovely view of the Garda lake as well. Come to see the World's oldest plough!
Definitely worth a visit. Well laid out fascinating narrative of the ancient history.

Just a short walk along the promenade This beach was great to stop off for a sunbathe and swim to cool off after looking around town, the water was nice and warm, we enjoyed our swim at this beach
nice lake with clean water but rocky beach can be problematic
Extremely unprofessional staff and management. We asked a simple question about the prices, and the staff member was rude and mocking us instead of giving a clear answer. When we reported this behavior to his manager, she was just as unprofessional, refusing to believe us and dismissing our concern. If both the staff and the manager cannot respect customers or communicate properly, it shows how little they value people. This kind of behavior is unacceptable and reflects very poorly on the business.
Nice, clean beach, 5-8 minutes to go from the centre. The price for the sunbeds and umbrella is affordable, they have half-day price also. Food and drink also can be purchased here. Nice, helpful staff. Standing toilette would be the only negative thing here.
Visited on July, not overcrowded.Pebbles beach, biger stones in water, shoes si must.
Nice beach and not overcrowded even in August. Parking places nearby 1 eur per hour. You can choose between free of charge beach or buy seat and umbrella. Toilets on site. A lot of stones, take water boots.
Very clean beach, quite rocky. Great views of the lake and mountains. You can see Sirmione in the distance. Good sized beach. Umbrellas and accessories are available.

Well hidden and quiet. Not crowded. Fascinating tribute to fallen soldiers
Super eerie and very quiet, really nice to commemorate in such a way and extremely breath taking. Not for the squeamish.
It was quite a trek from Verona, but worth it. The church is beautiful and set in a lovely area.
Beautiful and interesting place. Wish the gates to go around and downstairs had been open, would've been interesting to see it even more up close.
One of the lakes best kept secrets. I have visited twice and both times have been peaceful and relaxing. Surrounded by beautiful land Scape and great agrotourism where the food is so fresh and reasonably priced. The tower was built in momory of a war dating back some 200 years between the Austrian empire France and Italy. The church has the remains of many who died in the battle bones and skulls on display. Overall great afternoon out and the food was great too. Top tip restaurant acros from the tower is more expensive than the one at bottom of the hill.
These are real skulls and bones of soldiers who died in the bloody battle of San Martino in 1859. I liked that they used them for decorating this monument and not letting them to be wasted under the ground. (Austrian Vs Sardinian army)

Lovely rocky beach. So don’t forget your water shoes. The water is clear, just some grass here and there. Not very crowded. We parked at a nearby parking spot. 2€/ per hour. We also rented și beds from the near bar. Prices vary depending on the time of the weeks, day and what’s included in the package
A steep walk down the path to the lake but Great sunsets and lovely for a walk down the beach. There are warning signs stating that you can catch a type of dermatitis so if you swim here make sure you shower immediately after leaving the water.
Just ridiculous! One of the best beaches on the lake.
Omg the stones hurt! The water is nice, the beach is nice, the bar is nice, but the STONES. I cut myself like 5 times on my feet and arms and legs.

Her knowledge of the estate, it's history and the wine was second to none and she went above and beyond to answer all our questions and engage with us. The wine was just fantastic and the snacks were perfect. Left with bottles in hand. Thank you Elisa and all the staff who made our trip so special.
Amazing winery tour, very generous in the wine and food offerings too! Laura was incredibly attentive, interesting and friendly as our host, and even arranged a taxi back for us. Would highly recommend for anyone visiting the area!
Great winery for a tour experience! Tour guid Ana was very welcoming showing around the cellar and explaining how Ca Maiol wine is being produced. Wine is superb, especially Rose, Brut and their most popular one - White. If you decide to visit the winery, won’t be disappointed. Worth the money.
One of the famous wineries of the area. We did not have much time so we only visited the show room, where a lady gave us a tour and explained the various options. At the end we also tasted a few wines. The staff was professional and the wines good and decently priced. 5 stars, recommended.
Such a wonderful and in depth experience, both the tour and the tasting! Our guide was beyond amazing, just so knowledgeable and eager to answer any questions! She went above and beyond by recommending wineries in nearby regions along with restaurants to try for our upcoming trip to Rome. The wine by the way, oh my gosh! Kicking myself for not buying more cartons! Heading back this weekend for a restock :)
We had a brilliant winetour given by Alessi, she was very experienced, and gave a good explanation about the vineyard, the process of making wine and the wines. The wines we're lovely, the place is beautiful
Amazing team and ambience 🤗 we strongly recommend 🔝
Julia was very helpful and very good at explaining the history. Great tour

We did a quick stop here on our way to Trento. We grabbed a couple of sandwiches that were OK in taste and price within average. Atmosphere decidedly nice to spend some time out of the car before heading to the highway again.
This place has potential to be more than it is now. Sunbeds are fairly priced (10€) and the location is superb and the reason they get 3 stars. The prices in the bar are on the high side and the dishes they serve are not worth eating (cold mixed rice or cold mixed pasta - really? It's Italy!!!). Walk 10 minutes to the right (facing the lake) and you find Classic Rock Café which has more interesting dishes on the menu.
Yes, friendly good service; price is ok; no problem with dogs 🐕
This is a shingled beach lake side and very popular. You can walk on good paths for miles! Very relaxing and pleasant.
The kids enjoyed going in the lake and finding pretty stones on the beach. Take some footwear you can wear in the water.
Loved it, bought coffee for 1.7€, normal good cappuccino, also royal and yellow spritz, total of 16€ along with free nachos and olives, super price, super views
Beautiful location
Great beach and caffe, very friendly staff and the button of the beach is with the sand.

Even in the evening it is crazy and hosts many events (Original) Biblioteca stupenda in una posizione fantastica! Ottima anche per studiare o per venire a leggere un buon libro, una vista meravigliosa! Anche di sera è pazzesca e ospita tantissimi eventi
(Translated by Google) Nice place, shame that the staff greets you if it's OK one time out of five (and they're not busy doing anything else and just look at you!) Rude!! (Original) Bel posto , peccato che il personale ti saluta se va bene una volta su cinque (e non è impegnato a fare altro e ti guarda in faccia!) maleducati!!
(Translated by Google) Spectacular library with lake view. I just don't understand why it is still necessary to reserve the study station (not only the classroom, but also the chair itself) which seems quite inefficient to me now that we are out of the Covid era.
(Translated by Google) I didn't know that this library was called Anelli, this nice former mayor now deceased, reigns everywhere even if no one remembers any sensational gestures during his government. This is the only flaw of this library, the name. For the rest it is in an ancient villa in Art Nouveau style, frescoed and renovated. Equipped with a parking space. Very well stocked with books. Very well organized so that you can book a book online and find it ready after a few days. The director Giorgio is very active and organizes many events, many book presentations and other meeting opportunities. They would have to have an arthouse movie night to be truly perfect!
(Translated by Google) It is one of the most beautiful libraries I have seen both in terms of architecture and lakefront location, with many well-catalogued books that completely satisfy every user's need. It is also at the forefront in terms of IT, with a room with many computers, which also satisfies the needs of Internet users who, in case of problems, are assisted by two well-informed librarians.
