World class Museum huge collection definitely one of the best museums I have ever visited !!
Very nice museum, full of information also in English. Staff very kind and helpful. Spent an hour there, could even stay longer. Temporary exhibitions, although only in Greek language, were very interactive!
This museum is one of the best we have been to in Greece. Well laid out and beautifully organized. The staff are kind, friendly, and helpful. Highly recommended.
Wonderful museum, with amazing exhibits. From prehistoric to medieval times, lots of items and much information around most of them and the way the people of Thessaly and not just, evolved throughout the ages. A beautiful experience truly!
Today I visited the museum as a part of a morning stroll around town without any big expectations. But, when I entered the exhibition and started going through the exhibits I was amazed by the very nice environment and the very kind guides. The museum is for sure a great chance to do something of cultural significance in the city of Larisa. I enjoyed being there and I totally recommend it for others to visit it too. Once again, great exhibits, great environment.
A quite marvellous museum charting the history of Thessaly from pre history, to the introduction of Christainty. Would highly recommend, it was displayed well with information in English. One of the best I've ever been to. Best to drive to, as it isn't located in the city. The staff provided us booklets after we were finished, which was much appreciated. The building is purpose built, but needs connections to the city to get people in.
The exhibits are interesting but the experience was in the end rather unpleasant: my children were discussing a mosaic floor (exhibit) when they were shouted at by one of the members staff for leaning against a museum building wall (which definitely not part of the exhibits)… when i asked the member of staff why she was shouting at my children, she replied that we were no to touch anything in the museum. At all… even if it’s not an exhibit… I feel her shouting at my children was disrespectful given that they were not misbehaving and it seems completely over the top to penalise them for touching something that was obviously not an exhibit.
The arrangement of the permanent exhibition is based on the axes of chronological narration, geographic distribution and special subjects. it contains 11 sections and presents representative findings of Thessalian culture from Paleolithic era to the 19th century.

Unbelievably beautiful and peaceful
Those coordinates (Google Maps’ point) are misleading, there are much better viewpoints to the river. The river is amazing, strong and wide even in the late summer.
One of the nicest (and coolest) places in Larissa. A stop at Agia Paraskevi (patron saint of those with eye problems - and not only), recommended!
Good but not the best btw i like it 😉😁
A place to unwind and let go of the not so stressful rythems of the city

(Translated by Google) Philolaos Tloupas, known internationally as Philolaos, was a world-renowned artist-sculptor and one of the most important Greek artists abroad. He was born on 4/3/1923 in Larissa and died on 18/9/2010 in Paris. His father was a cabinet maker and his grandfather a boiler maker (copper). Filolaos was the brother of the great and also renowned photographer, Takis Tloupa. Since he was a child, he grasped and experimented with materials and constructions and observed the statues in his city. A teenager made the bust of Colonel Liapkin (hero of a novel by M. Karagatsis and a real person in the society of Larissa). In 1944 he was admitted to the Academy of Fine Arts in Athens. There he studied sculpture and painting with the sculptor Michalis Tobro, while at the same time he studied in the workshop of Thanasis Aparti, where he discovered different approaches to art, as well as a spirit of free thinking.

Sofia's oldest building, this 4th-century Christian church is cylindrical, with a frescoed dome.
Slide 1 of 8
A beautiful church in the center of Sofia. This is the oldest building in the city, dating back to the 4th century. It is built with red bricks from the outside. Although it is very old, the church is well preserved. It's nicely decorated inside, but it's a bit cramped and can't hold more people at once. There is no entrance fee. Inside you can buy cheap souvenirs.
Really interesting the way it is situated in the court yard of the government buildings. Very rich and elegant inside in spite of what it looks like outside. I would say, go if you have time, if not, you can place it lower on the priority list. So many amazing museums and art galleries to visit so plan your time well!
The Church of St. George is a truly remarkable place, the oldest preserved monument in Sofia. It is a small red-brick, circular church dating back to Roman times, set among modern buildings, which makes it even more fascinating. Inside, you can admire beautiful Byzantine frescoes from different periods, ranging from the 4th to the 14th century, well preserved and rich in detail. The atmosphere is intimate and spiritual, giving you the feeling of stepping back in time. It is easy to visit, with free entrance, and is located right in the city center, just a short walk from St. Nedelya Cathedral. An unmissable stop for anyone visiting Sofia, both for its historical significance and its unique beauty.
The oldest building in Sofia, and a miracle that it survived wartime bombing and communist indifference. Layers of history, beautiful ancient frescos and an unusual and interesting location. Free to enter, like most churches in Bulgaria. You're not supposed to take photos inside ;)
Lasting for over 1700 years, this church surrounded by ruins, is such a remarkable place to stop by. It's considered the oldest building in Sofia ! Definitely worth the visit and receiving blessings of St.George 🙏🏼
The Rotunda of St. George is one of the oldest buildings in the city, dating back to the 4th century. Its red-brick construction, circular plan on a square base and roughly 13-metre dome create a compact volume rich in history. I really enjoyed how this small building stands out within the urban context, lending the visit a sense of depth.
This is a beautiful temple, an ancient architectural Christian building that will not leave you indifferent with its beauty. Here you will see amazing frescoes, the environment is very cozy and interesting. You will be amazed by its history.
Oldest building in Sofia that’s tucked away in a quiet courtyard right between the Presidency and the Sheraton Hotel.

Jolly nice place, I loved that they teach painting ti kids and adults.
Wonderful people, amazing curators, Fantastic pieces of Art, extra organized, clean, impressive architecture building.
I walked 4km to the museum to find that it is closed. There are 2 people inside, and there is something written on the door but it is in Greek so I can not understand what it means. Someone came to the door and showed us 7 fingers, only he knows what that means. It is 7 PM now, the museum supposed to be open from 6 PM to 9 PM. So waste of time. I do not recommend this to anyone.
Wonderful modern art museum in Larissa. Free entrance when I came. Excellent dedicated staff. I saw a small contemporary feminist collection, a gallery of the works of Yannis Gaitis, mostly his "little men" works, and a larger formerly private collection of Greek modern art focusing on the 20th century. Lovely medium-sized gallery.
I visited this museum today morning and it was ok. I come back in the afternoon because my boyfriend want to visit too and they denied the access. The only reason was the covid pass that we don't have at the moment. It's weird because i visited in the morning and no one asked me that, a guy just measured me the temperature. The museum is far away from the city center and we lost time to come back here. I checked the web site and it's not written that you should have a covid test done. We visited others museums in these days and we had no problem.
Real nice museum, greek artists, lots of cool figurative art from the 20th cent
I like modern architecture and this to me is a really good example. Good use of space, giving the exhibitions room to breathe and the opportunity to be used imaginatively - I'm helping to organise a conference there.
Quite a surprise. Modern. Very nice temporary exhibition. The permanent exhibition was very nicely presented. No ticket needed

It was very interesting and beautiful. It is worthy to visit to museum.
It's an odd little museum on the outskirts of town.Has quite a few examples of traditional dress and how people lived at the turn of the 20th century .Some religious artifacts and a temporary exhibition in the basement. Quiet we were the only ones there.
Unique exhibits of old time pharmacy and wood-block printing set among traditional ethnographic displays. The building is gorgeous too. However the price is inflated for this small museum and the attendant was REALLY creepy. He stood about 2 feet from me, followi g me all the way, and breathed heavy. It made me VERY uncomfortable.
An interesting museum covering the folklore and culture of the region.
Amazing place, have a soul. Greetings from Serbia!

Great small ancient theatre!
(Translated by Google) Perhaps the most famous attraction of the city of Larissa. In recent years, several works were carried out for the good maintenance of the area and various cultural events took place within it. It is worth visiting when passing through our city and even more so to watch a show in its place. 🙂
(Translated by Google) I visited it for a musical theater performance and it was really beautiful. The place has a nice atmosphere and takes you back in time. The only thing that spoiled it for me was that in the background, behind the stage, you could see the apartment buildings — they could find a way to hide them so they don't take you out of the flow of the play. Ο χώρος έχει ωραία ατμόσφαιρα και σε ταξιδεύει στην ιστορία. great place that someone is good to go see and experience. theatrical acts, dance, music, yoga, photography, contemporary art and in general events of explorative nature and beauty. there is open/summer cinema there as well. a visit is highly recommended.
A well renovated early industrial complex, beautifully transformed into a cultural complex with a museum, a theater, an open air cinema, a puppet theater and two cafes/ bars ( one of them a concert venue). A large square-like yard in front of the main building adds to the atmosphere. Lovely
Good to zee the heritage of Larissa is preserved by the municipality. Different cultural organisations have there place here and there is a museum.
Nice place to spend half an hour and lear about flour production. Very helpful staff. Free admission.
Amazing place with a good music of all styles. Just make sure you check who is performing.
It's an excellent choice if you have kids. However, there is room for improvement, for example a playground would make it ideal and a bit less stressful for the parents who have to follow their kids in case they stray. As far as the cafe is concerned, it's good, but if they improved/enriched their services - added food maybe? - then it would be excellent. Other than that, they're friendly and reasonably priced.
Great museum in Larissa. It is contained in an old flour mill buidling, which also serves as a cultural centre. The lady on the admission desk, Nicoletta, was very helpful with tips about Larissa.
With a nice enclosed square this place is great of you have children since it allows you to let them play without worrying about traffic. It has two cafesv that double as bars, a theatre and museum of puppet theatre. This is the site of an old flour mill that had now been turned into a municipal cultural centre. Here some great concerts are held in the winter months and in the spring and summer months you'll find a choice of open performances.

Very good winery ! Loved the local personalized touch of the tour with and tasting with Thanos. Each wine was so good, we went with two reds and 1 white, as they specialize in red. Important to make an appointment before and cash preferred.
Beautiful place with amazing wines to taste and a very knowledgeable host! One of the best wine-tours I had in ages!
A lovely winery in the scenic nature with hospitable hosts and exceptional wines. A must see when you are visiting this region of Greece.
Very Lovely! Friendly People! Good Wine! We (my wife, sister, her boyfriend and me) arrived spontaneously after visiting Tempi Valley, which is just 5 minutes (by car) away. The website of dougos says you need an appointment for visiting the winery, but the owners allowed us to take a look at all the steps and locations of the process. After that, we were allowed to taste all the delicious wines of dougos and bought a few bottles. A fantastic time, good wine, friendly people and good prices. Definetly worth a visit!
Very good wine. Luisa guided us (in perfect Italian language!) through the winery explaining us the various process of winemaking , from grapes to wine, passing through barrels. Wine tasting at the end. Very good prices offered to the visitors who wants to buy some bottles.
Wonderful wines, the “7” red wine is absolutely perfect. Worth visiting, Importent to book an appointment ahead.

This particular room was covered by six lead-coated domes, which are supported by two large pesses.[2] Nineteen shops were housed in vaulted rooms around the perimeter of the central area, mainly dealing in textiles and valuables.[2] Until its destruction by fire in 1799, it was the commercial center of the city, along with the neighboring outdoor market and bazaar.[2][3] The 17th-century traveler Evliya Celebi refers to the building, describing it as a "veritable fortress" and likening it to such.[3] Toodi, Fortress Hill received its current name from the bezesteni.[5] During the 19th century it was used as a silicon warehouse.[2] Today, only the outer walls survive, while only the southern entrance is open.[3] Before the inauguration of the Timeless Museum of Larissa in 2015, it was used to house the local collection of Byzantine antiquities.[3 (Original) Το μπεζεστένι ευρίσκεται επί της κορυφής του Λόφου Φρουρίου, την παλαιά ακρόπολη της πόλης, και ανεγέρθηκε τον ύστερο 15ο αιώνα.[2] Η παλαιότερη γραπτή μαρτυρία περί της ύπαρξής του βρίσκεται σε μητρώο χρονολογούμενου από το 1506, όπου συγκαταλέγεται μεταξύ των ευσεβών ιδρυμάτων του Γαζί Ομέρ Μπέη.[3][4] Πρόκειται για ορθογώνιο κτίριο, του οποίου η νότια, η ανατολική και η δυτική πλευρά είναι διακοσμημένες με μνημειώδη οξυκόρυφα τόξα.[2] Οι διαστάσεις του είναι 27 × 18 μ.[4] Η είσοδος γινόταν δια χαμηλής πύλης επί της βόρειας πλευράς, οδηγώντας σε μικρού μεγέθους δωμάτιο, το οποίο πιθανώς χρησιμοποιείτο ως θησαυροφυλάκιο.

It was built on the highest point of the hill, in the ancient acropolis of Larissa, also known as the Fortress and dates back to around the end of the 15th and the beginning of the 16th century. The Byzantine citadel would probably be there. ▪️The name Bezesteni means cloth market as it comes from the Arabic word bez which means cotton and the word bezzaz which means cloth merchant.

Inside it is still the Ottoman treasury of the city, while it was the cloth market.

It functioned as a closed market for various goods and textiles, hence its name (bez - fabric). In 1799 it was destroyed by fire.

It's very difficult to clime the mountain. I am trying to show to people that thay shoud folow the rad signs during the claiming. Nature is more like Thailand. Fascinating.
Started the trek at the fork in the road - the point where if facing to the sea, you go left to Kokkolino Nero and right to the beach. From there, you leave your car at a dirt parking and make your way towards the red and yellow markings. The trail is a very steep climb 85-90 percent of time, a total elevation of around 450 meters form the said starting point. GOOD: the trail is marked very well with a red sqaure and a yellow square inside it 🟥🟨 on tree trunks and boulders. In the last section of the climb, blue arrows show you were to step - excellent and thoughtful. The views of the see and the vertical gorge walls are dramatic, with lots of cyclamen flowers all around. The water in the pool near the waterfall itself is crystal clear and freezing - exactly what you need after you finish climbing. BAD: at this time of the year, the waterfall is reduced to a mere trickle. To make the things even worse, someone (I guess local farmers) draws water from the top of the waterfall in many black rubber hoses. It also spoils the view along the hike, as you constantly see ugly hoses and water fittings while you climb up. All in all, I guess the trail deserves a perfect five stars mark in the beginning of the summer, June-July. While not extreme, the hike does need more than basic fitness.
Really beautiful. You can take the dirt road until the starting point and then it is only half an hour walking.
Interesting place, very pretty nature if you go by hiking trail from kokkino nero instead or dirt road.
Looks like a great location for spring and summer. However the waterfall dries out at some point in fall. Its still a beautiful location at fall but its missing something. There is at least one location where you can dive from. Also a nice view of the sea from above. To get here you will have to walk 30min to 2 hours depending where you start your hike from. In fall there are also chestnut trees in the area that you can gather from.
Such a beauty and hidden place, its a little bit climbing up but the amazing view worth it. Beauty nature
Bring a rope (10 meters) and go from the above, it's faster and it sure is an amazing place
Friends and I just couldn’t find it base on the route Google maps provided… The experience of trying to find it and the other hiking trails that are “around” that area, are pretty sweet though.

(Translated by Google) You drive an hour to Mass based on information you find online after a long search. Because there's no updated parish website, the phone numbers listed are unanswered, and you really don't know anything for sure. And an hour later, you hit a closed door because it's vacation time. And okay, priests are human beings and have the right to rest, but in the 21st century, is it really that hard to post information online? A photo on the door isn't enough, especially for tourists from other parts of Greece. It's a shame, because vacations with God are wonderful.
