What a weekend, we had a fantastic time loved every minute all the staff were amazing from the guys greeting us to the servers to our reception brilliant and lovely people. I have to say a special shout out to arnold our waiter what a lovely guy and the fella who worked behind the bar in the compass bar you gyys gave us special treatment i cannot thank you all enough x
Lovely ship, good crossing, terrible inside bunk bed cabin!! Thin walls with party people going to Amsterdam! Drinking until 2am!! No sleep whatsoever! Expensive breakfast buffet like a sale opening day! Such a big rush for the overcooked inedible breakfast! ! Friendly, hard working crew.
This was the first time we went from Newcastle to IJmuiden with DFDS and we won't do this again. Sorry, but for the money it costs and the experience DFDS has, it is really bad. First of all, the information in advance: there is none. You have no idea what your cabin number is, not even when you get it (you get it at check-in). Your account only contains the details of the trip, nothing else. And the journey itself: we were in a family cabin on deck 6 and it was like sleeping in the engine room. A huge noise, everything was shaking, no sleep. It was hot, the air conditioning barely worked. Really worthless. Upon arrival it was chaos: arrival time was 9:45, we were home at 12:45 and we live in Haarlem (20 minutes drive). From now on we will use the tunnel, which is a detour, but much more pleasant and much cheaper.
We travel regularly on the Newcastle - Amsterdam route with our dog as we do the Europe trip 8 times a year. Check in process is smooth. With the dog, papers are checked at the same time as our passports and scanner is provided to check the micro chip. Once on board, staff will assist if you need help getting to your cabin. We always have a dog friendly cabin, so know where we're going - thanks for the gravy bone today from our dog! Dog exercise area means we can sit outside with the dog if desired. Then dinner - we always do the buffet, plenty choice and the food is good, would recommend booking - a decent sleep (smooth crossing helps 😊) and after a decent breakfast it's time to disembark. For us, this is a great option coming from Scotland and having 2000km drive in Europe to our destination. We arrive refreshed, well fed and ready for the onward journey. Note we do sometimes travel via the Eurotunnel or Santander /Bilbao crossings to south of England but this one is our favourite overall.
Myself and my wife had an excellent time on the DFDS mini cruise to Amsterdam, cannot sing it's praises enough. Room was small but clean and comfortable, boat atmosphere was excellent especially on the return voyage, we had a really relaxed two days at sea and it was awesome. If I was to find faults it would be that there was a lack of food for my wife who is Coeliac, and the boats WiFi wasn't the best but to be fair we were in the middle of the north sea, drinks were a bit pricey but you can buy from duty free and save some cash if you want, all in all more than happy for what we got for our money. Will definitely be doing this again.
The ferry is a little tired in places, but not so much that it's a problem. The staff are excellent and try to do whatever they can to help. Both the public areas and cabins are kept clean, with lots of visible cleaning of the former throughout the journey. Food at the buffet is much better than expected for a captive audience, especially the very well cooked meats. If you can justify the cost, the commodore de luxe rooms are great.
Absolutely excellent to Amsterdam trip with excellent food and a real and a really nice with a good coach trip in to Amsterdam square and the canals before returning to board the boat again and once again excellent food the service from the staff were brilliant and of course it has a real duty-free shop yes a real duty-free shop not like the airports a pleasant experience and well worth the money all in all absolutely brilliant show get away with no worries or problems AJ
Needed to move personal effects from the Netherlands to the UK. Decided to rent a van and pickup the items myself via ferry, as that was the cheapest option available. Check-in and boarding were straightforward, and the ferry rides both ways were long (around 16 hours) but pleasant. Cabins were clean and comfortable too. I paid for the dinner and breakfast buffets while booking, which was cheaper than paying at the door. Both meals were of excellent value, with lots of options. Overall, I had a great time on the ferry and highly recommend this service!

More than 1km of slides in a water park with high-speed runs, safe play areas and a fast food cafe.
Slide 1 of 8
It's hard to rate this place as it is showing its age and needs a good lick of paint and repairs done in numerous areas. They don't ask people to remove outdoor shows before entering the changing area so they get grubby quickly. Entry price has come down a little which is good. Charge you £2 to get a locker token, you get £1 back if you return it. Toilet areas very clean and well maintained. Lots of changing cubicles out of order or damaged. All slides were working and they stand up well still, enjoyed by me and 8 year old. Plenty of lifeguards on duty. If they run around with a paint brush and do some basic repairs this would be even better.
DO NOT COME HERE. This place is shocking. Me and my husband thought this was a family friendly place to take our kids for a day out. Staff were extremely rude, pool water was slightly not clear and smelt like cheesy sweaty children toes. The lifeguard came down and pushed my 2 children in the pool (milly age 6, and Gregory-age 11) extremely disappoint had to take my children to the hospital because they ended up with foot fungus.and to the man who took a picture of me and my daughter in the changing room you can crap off!!
For and adult and child entrance was about £30 and for that you would expect premium. While the rides are great the building need some tlc there seems to be more gaffer tape and peeling paint than stainless steel.
This place is a dive! We visited today and it took something like 20 minutes queueing to pay. When we paid, we were robbed at £30 for two adults and a kid. THIRTY QUID! You have to go to a changing village (more like a hamlet!) which is right on the poolside. People walking about in outside shoes and others in bare feet in swim gear along the pool side. There was a greeny pleghm snotty spit on the stairs leading down to the "changing hamlet" and the place in general is dirty and bogging! The place is SO cold and going up to the higher slides is like walking through a freezer. It's really not pleasant! The change rooms have no benches, missing or no hooks and some don't even have doors. There are missing/smashed locker doors and the floors are grimy and they're small, VERY small! Wait times for slides/flumes are like 45 minutes for the inflatables rides because there's just not enough staff to keep things moving. Considering this is their thing, water slides, the queue times and lack of organisation is dire and extremely frustrating. I refused to feed the kids (not giving them any more money!) and we left after an hour - and won't ever be returning. It was awful!
it's still dirty but still fun...the past couple of times the tornado races have been closed but there is still enough slides to go on. if you have a young child there is a child area.
Well it was wet and it is wild so lives up to its name. The kids had a great time, so much so they didn't want to get out. Everything seemed to be working although it was freezing walking up to and waiting for the water slides. It could have been cleaner but then we did go at a busy time during the Easter holiday. Getting in and paying seemed to take awhile as there was only 2 members of staff operating reception but wasn't to bad. The lockers could do with being upgraded but still do the job. My only advice is as a family of 5 you need 2 lockers, £2 a locker but you are refunded one pound when returning the key. We stayed in the water the whole time but there is seating upstairs for those that either don't want to swim or take a break and although we didn't use the cafe, there seemed to be plenty on offer for food and drink. Not sure on prices. There is plenty of parking that is free and its easy to get to. Overall we as a family had a good time and will be visiting again even though it's an hour drive.
The slides are totally awesome (especially abyss and kamikaze) and everyone had a great time. Was here 3 hours and could've easily stayed longer, went Saturday morning in the holidays and it wasn't overcrowded, hardly any waits for slides. The wave machine was good too. Overall, I'd say it's more fun for older children/teens than under 8s. However, there are a more than a few downsides; the changing rooms are beyond terrible - fortunately we avoided most the potential misery there by arriving with our swimming gear under our clothes - i strongly recommend you do the same. You also wouldn't be able to fit young children in them with you. I admittedly didn't try the food so shouldn't comment on that but tbf i wouldn't have wanted to, the cafe looks DIRE and there was some 'debris' (nothing gross, just like grit) in some areas of the pool. It was also pretty chilly near the bottom of the slide tower. Also the less said about the toilets the better. To address some of the other reviews, the place does look a tad run down but there wasn't anything dangerous like broken tiles, sharp edges or anything that looked any less hygienic than any other public pool. The changing rooms were the only area that really looked atrocious. The slides were clean, fully staffed & seemed very safe. The staff did indeed look bored but i would be too if I had to stand watching other people go down an awesome slide day in day out. It was a little cold first thing in the morning but by 11 it was toasty. Still, imperfections aside it was super fun, well worth a visit and I'll probably go back.
We have been today...i was expecting it to be clean & freshly painted as it hasn't been re-opened all that long! But no looks run down, tiles broke on the steps to pools etc. Toilets were awful only 2 supposidly working but even those didn't flush properly. On one of the slides i went on with my son there was a few teenage lads messing about going up part of the slide towards me, this was where a lifeguard was visible, rather concerning that they didn't get stopped. My sons had a great time however i feel that i will be avoiding going back until its had a deep clean!!

I regularly make a trip over just to visit the First come first served shop and see what they have in x the owner is lovely and always has a chat. The range of products available are fantastic and the prices take some beating x I was pleased when they reopened local to me as previously i travelled to their other location x I highly recommend the shop for anyone who hasn’t already been x I visit other stores whilst there such as Next and Poundland.
From an accessibility perspective, this place has disabled bays and parking and child bays as one. I understand parents may need extra space to get car seats out of the car, however that is more manageable than not being to walk far. The hey should be separate bays and locations not combined. I’ve never seen this before here and disagree with the concept.
It has some great outlets but at the moment it’s not scoring high. Greggs is opening an outlet shortly so it might attract more customers. We use it to meet up and see people. Great nursery at the Broom play cafe
This place used to be excellent, what happened! Very little retail shopping! Games and gadgets are plenty, as are coffee shops but it dull and boring. Highlight was Clarkes outlet still in place, but for how long? Very disappointed.
I work close to the retail park so often go at lunchtime. It needs a wider variety of shops but foot fall isn’t great so can understand why retailers are reluctant to open there. However there is a Greggs there now alongside a Costa & Subway, so plenty of choice for lunch. Generally it looks like it needs a makeover from top to bottom.
Visited for the first time in years very disappointing very few shops open most closed place was empty. Needs a full refurb very depressing won't be in a rush to return here
It's a retail park thats gone downhill over the last few years since the M&S outlet left. It has recently changed owners and it looks as if they are trying to turn things around having opened a Greggs recently and the local costa has been refurbished. Still looking a bit empty and down at heel but hopefully turning things around.
Poor selection of shops. It needs a flagship shop to bring people in. An opportunity missed by not having events ect on during school holidays. Not very impressed and a very strange aroma filled the air.

Ferry was nice to ride on, everything was clean and the view upstairs is stunning. The Ferry Landings are also not bad, the whole journey was great with no issues, not much to do in North Shields tho..
Very Good. All half hours go betegen too part. And travel time just 10 minute. Faster. Free if you have A+B+C Metro ticket! ✅👍
Superb. Buoyant, efficient, inexpensive. Made it across the Tyne mouth with no drama. Excellent cycle rack on the boat, with lots of other cyclists using the crossing.
Not great, the ferry is very useful, but they hang around for way too long on either side, meaning that you have to wait around for ages before the ferry turns up. It is useful that it is run by Nexus so you can use your Metro ticket/smart card. Would probably travel again if I lived near enough.
Save going to Jarrow or Howden to use the Passenger Tyne Tunnel, can use the Shields Ferry. Only £1.90 one way, cycles are allowed, because of present COVID situation have to wear a mask. On the North Shields side of the trip there is a bank to get up to the town centre. But there is a bus service. If you head to the right coming out of the ferry terminal you can walk along the river passing the North Shields Fish Quay. There are food shops as this area is popular with tourist.
Regularly get the ferry when I'm out on the bike riding up the coast. The covered waiting areas are handy when it's raining or snowing. Sheltered in one last month to fix a puncture before carrying on
Very bad service but good ferry . They should make South Shields ferry to North Shields to the royal quays same zone for travel this would cost a lot cheaper than having to pay all zones just to travel 8 stops on a bus and 1 ferry crossing you have to buy an all zone ticket to travel this distance pure rip-off prices.
Excellent service. One every 30 mins or so

A good place to visit great for the history of the fishing industry and the river Tyne
An interesting little one room museum currently focusing on the historic roll that women played in the fishing industry. There are a few artifacts on display like the Creels the women used to carry fish, but it's mainly the illustrated written stories of their lives that's presented here. Fascinating to read about how the Scotch Herring Girls travelled south and stayed in lodgings here whilst they worked the season cleaning and curing the fish. Whilst the Herring Girls are a prominent feature of this museum, women are also celebrated in their other roles within the industry like Sheila Hirsch, the country's first woman trawler skipper. Whilst not a huge museum, there's plenty of written material presented here with some interesting black and white photos of the industry in the 1930s. The place is a Charity and they ask for £4.00 to cover their costs which is fair enough. The exhibition is on the first floor, but there's a little balcony on the 2nd floor that gives you a good view of the surrounding area.
Good location for a stroll. Lovely cafe with original art on walls. Tasty cheese toasties enjoyed all round for our group. Not great selection on menu but we were happy.
Excellent ,some great local history exhibitions. Up stairs
Great to catch up on local history and cafe
An outstanding place to visit if you would like to know more about the history of North Shields. The staff (many volunteers) are excellent and share their knowledge willingly and helpfully based on your questions. There is also a great Cafe and a small shop on the ground floor. The place is run by a charity so please do support by calling in if you are in the area. (Photo of a scale model of the "Northumbrian" ferry that used to work on the Tyne in the 1960's and 70's)
Very interesting and informative exhibitions of the 800 year history of north Shields and a collection of photographs following trawlermen over a 10 year span. There was even a cafe downstairs. Definitely worth a visit.
Run by volunteer staff with both inside & outside seating. Limited food menu, restricted to sandwiches, cakes and other bread-based items such as toasted teacakes & crumpets. Table service was efficient and food was satisfying if a little bland (my Monterrey Jack & ham toastie didn't taste of much). Good value for what we ate. Toilet facilities inside were clean and well maintained

No complaints. Only walked past it a few times during my stay in Liverpool. Beautiful sight.
Nice little spot to enjoy the boats all diff sizes in the marina. Cafe nearby for a coffee etc.
Really enjoyed my stay. Everyone friendly and welcoming. It was quite and relaxing. Very clean. Best marina I have stopped on. Shame I had to come back to home marina.
Love the walks here... Shame that irresponsible dog owners don't clean up after their dog mess. Have been back lately and not as bad. Thank you to the responsible dog owner. The surroundings are amazing 😍
Visited in our boat for the first time. Outstanding customer service, facilities are also very very good. This wasn't the cheapest visit however we stopped for 2 weeks. 24hrs access from the sea/river is a huge plus point as it really helps when you are making the most of a long trip or limited time. We will definitely return on our next trip north.
Nice place for a Sunday morning stroll. There's a lovely café where you can enjoy a cup of coffee or breakfast. Fantastic views on yachts and P&O Arcadia. I really liked the place.
Beautiful place for an evening walk around the quays with your family and pets. Perfect view for a run n workouts, witnessed many doing that. Also nice place for shippies to have a stroll outside Tyne port.
Cheap shops, nice costa. Enjoyed the plant shop near entrance. Bought from a few indeoendant outlets.

Absolutely lovely park! Lots of little things to see around the park such as 'fairy' doors and statues. There are toilets free to use in the main building along with a cafe and plenty of outdoor seating. There is also access to clean drinking water for you and your dogs. My children enjoyed the play park too!
It is a beautiful park and so well maintained. Love to see more activities taking place in this park. There is a corner for everyone.. benches, play area for children, duck pond, bike area, bowling, a cafe and lovely walks with our pooches. There is also a herb garden. Truly lovely
This is a lovely and very well maintained park. It has a bandstand and a cafe as well as an old pet cemetery! Don't stick to the main path. Have a wonder up and down the sides. The bird song is amazing. This is a very quiet park. There is a good playground for the kids and a cycle track. Ignore the opening times on Google Maps. It's open every day til 7pm as far as I know
Lovely little park, ideal for taking the dog for a walk, also with a nice playground for kids. There is also a cafe with outside seating area and toilets. There is a small pond in the centre of the park and a bandstand. Plenty of seats and the park looks nice when all the flowers are in bloom.
Absolutely lovely park, nice little cafe that's not extortionatly priced. A little dog drinking area with bowls provided and poo bags available. A tap to fill your own bottle of water which is free and not too far from the beach.
I'd never been before the other day but it is so beautiful. Really well looked after with lots of places to explore. There's sculptures, fairy doors, a nice play park and a pond with ducks. I didn't get a chance to try out the cafe but it's in a lovely location.
First time i I have been here . But such a lovely place for a walk around. Love café with amazing scones

Great place to visit. Excellent beaches and food along with fresh seafood to buy. So relaxing
One of my favourite places in the Northeast. A good walk is from the Fish Quays right along to St Mary's lighthouse. 10 miles round trip but plenty to see along the way and lots of nice places for a cuppa and bite to eat there and back. Beaches are so pristine.
Great place to park up with our Motorhome plenty of Restaurants close by and a good walk along promanade
Always a great visit and fantastic fish and chips at the waterfront
Land of my father's ( well. In laws, I'm a southerner who married shields lass so we go here often) lots of eateries from the humble fish and chip emporiums that serve fantastic fresh fish and chips ( other meals avaliable) to the high end restaurants. The ice cream kiosk is good too. The narrow beach is clean and the sea shallow. If you wanted to, you can stand at fiddlers green ( the fisherman statue) look over the Tyne and laugh at south shields and their tortoise statue, for not being north shields.

A lovely story accompanies the memorial to locally based Fisherman who lost their lives at sea. I have included the information board in my photos which explains the "romantic" notion of an afterlife and paradise for such fisherman "Fiddler's Green". The memorial was based on a photograph of taken at North Shields Fish Quay in the late 1950's. The Fisherman represented in the memorial is looking pensively out to sea.
Impressive looking sculpture along the path from the Collingwood monument to the Port of Tyne.
Lovely spot, on a nice day, to just sit and think.
Brilliant sculpture cast in the image of another local lad.
The idea for the memorial came from retired fisherman Henry Howard. The North Shields Fishermen's Heritage Project (NSFHP) was formed and became a constituted group in August 2015. NSFHP officially launched its fundraising in July 2016 and on 11 May 2017 it reached its £75,000 target. The money was raised by the local community, businesses, charitable trusts and working fishermen in conjunction with North Tyneside Council. An amazing effort by the people of North Shields and beyond! We have a wonderful 2.25x life size memorial to fishermen lost at sea from the port of North Shields which has been made by renowned sculptor Ray Lonsdale. COME AND VISIT - TAKE A PHOTO and please SHARE IT!
Stunning art installation looking out into the North Sea. Also a really cool building just behind him

Great place. Food was fantastic and the staff were lovely! A tad noisy as lots of tables in a smallish space but it wasn't anything to stop me going back. So good! 100% recommend 🙌
Absolutely fantastic night! Top notch! Extremely lovely food to start the night, very very good, brilliant service, and really great live music. We very much enjoyed the gig, was cracking, amazing energy from the band. All staff throughout the night were terrific too. Five star venue, very much recommend.
Always a pleasure attending music events here. Great atmos! The events team are making a name for the venue with the rising quality of performer Sons of Cream were great the other night!
Great venue , although there was an issue re our seats being occupied and double sold , we were accommodated very quickly in perfect seats by the manager and had a very pleasant evening
Great venue! Went for an event so didn't have food but such a lovely atmosphere. Nice seating areas both inside and out. Would love to go back and try out the food menu. Looked really good with lots of nice options. A real gem of a place at the coast!
This review relates solely to the auditorium. Permanent seats in the balcony are only accessible by 2 flights of stairs as the disabled lift was recently removed during refurbishment. At standing events there is no designated area for wheelchairs or seating for those unable to stand. At a recent event a helpful steward was able to organise a chair for me, but I was sat at the very back by the bar, where I had a great view of people's backsides
We attended a concert here. Very nice venue; stylish design, sound was great. Only one reason for disappointment, quite significant though: no time schedule was available online. It was only written 19:00, however only onsite we discovered that it was actually the doors opening time, with the support group starting at 20:00 and the actual main event well after 21:00. That was a lot of time wasted.
£21.90 for 2 cups of coffee 1 cup of hot water and 2 Pastel de nata !!! Disgusting. The table was dirty and the staff were just not interested. Under normal circumstances I wouldn't have paid and would have gone elsewhere but I had my 91 year old dad with me and we had just visited the graveside of my uncle who had passed away 1 year ago today . Extremely over prices and we will not be coming again.

Fantastic hidden gem, on the back streets of north shields right off the fish quay. Well worth a visit, fantastic atmosphere with some great brews ready to be experienced. Live music and pub quizzes on Fridays. Staff are so friendly and helpful, not sure what you want, they are happy for you to try to make sure you are getting the right drink. Indoor and outdoor searing, all made from barrels and benches, real rustic feel. While there is a steep ramp it is wheelchair accessible and there are stairs if you would prefer. The open front means during winter it can be chilly but the venue thinks of everything, from the warm ambient lighting of strung up fairy lights, to the basket of blankets to choose from to warm you on the cooler evenings. Well worth a visit, it won't be a one off, you will want to return.
Lovely wee place with nice beers and friendly folk. I've been here loads of times and never had a problem, bit cold in the winter but they provide blankets which are actually cleaned! Tiny Dancer is cracking and Martians on the Tyne is great. They often have food available but check social media first!
As with all local tap houses, the beer is fresh and tasty. A great place to for real beer.
Come here all the time. Love the atmosphere and how friendly the staff are. Great beer and selection of board games. They are also very welcoming to dogs and that's great!
Good choice of good beers, nice setting and extremely friendly and helpful staff
Love it! If you haven't been you should. Great tap room, great beer and great atmosphere!
If you're in North Shields do drop in at Flash House for a pint. Open to the public only on Fri and Sat. Good quality innovative and interesting beers for a decent price. Cheers!!
Well this tap room bar is great. They way they have done the bar out is amazing. Love the fairy lights and just the general look of the place. The beer is there own and Definitely the second best bar on the fish quay. I will be back for sure. However it would be good maybe to see some more guest beers on. Maybe Some big hitters would be class.

Lot of empty shops but area was clean and tidy
Security on the door. Excellent access for wheelchairs, prams, mobility aids. Easy walk through layout. Seating areas. Clean. Public toilet located in the library without the centre. Often community type pop ups or seasonal pop ups in centre near Barclays bank.
Can I start by saying I don't visit north shields centre very often but I think North Tyneside planning department should give themselves a pat on the back as it looks like they have succeeded in ripping the heart out of the main shopping street of shields. Once a busy shopping area and a place to meet friends now resembles a sparse wasteland occupied by groups of kids looking for trouble or druggies. The council are trying to attract a more upmarket kind of dweller to the area which is a mistake. North Shields is and always has been a working class town. The town would be best served by closing down some of the charity shops and pizza shops and try attracting more retail businesses.
Limited number of shops, suited more for the pocket wise shoppers. A few charity stores and not forgetting the Poundstore, which no longer sells much for a pound. The is a charity store which can be useful if looking for bric n brac. This is a sign of the times.
I was told if you haven't anything nice to say then don't say anything. Nuff said!
It's a dump ! Nothing there apart from getting into wilko l rate this place 2/5 not worth going back there northshileds is run down ghost town needs a good clean out a run down dump l recommended u don't go there ! Needs better shops in there a run down dirty dump seen better places mutch cleaner needs a good upgrade right this moment its a dump that's a 100 per cent fact a dump update still a dirty dump.closed all shops down filthy
Two hours free parking and just a five minute walk to the shopping centre. Nice little mall with a few shops inside, looks like they are re-developing the Town Centre. It will enhance the town once finished. It was quite a peasant stroll around the town and the people are so friendly and helpful.
Very spacious! No food shopping mall in the centre but lots of shops outside. It's in the middle of shopping location, makes it a very good place to start. Inside the Mall its very clean, has a lovely tea room, chemist, clothes shop, Wilkos (Ithink there's a barbers but not sure, charity shop, pound shop, library and bakery. Pretty good from what I've seen but I don't go there very often.
