Where to eat: the 50 best restaurants in North Shields

Stopped in the premier inn next door and had the meal deal included. I was a bit dubious as the beefeater chains are a lot better, and i am not the biggest fan of brewers fayre. However, it was better than most I have been to. I suppose it's just luck off the draw who's cooking. The mixed grill was pretty good, and the breakfast the next day was also. Only negatives were the coffee machine wasn't working and had a fault on it. This was attempted to be fixed by the staff unfortunately unsuccessfully.

All the buffet breakfast food was nice -sausages, bacon, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, hash browns. Good choice of juice, tea coffee DIRTY CUTLERY was the worst thing . The service was excellent & all the staff were very friendly and polite..

A much better visit this time, all of the staff we encountered were fabulous. There was a big holdup on ordering our food because the staff member was assisting a customer to redeem multiple vouchers from one meal or group of people which meant he had to check multiple invoices from previous days but this wasn't a problem so long as we got served! We did, and the food was lovely. Hot and fresh with attentive staff making sure everything was ok. A sea change to our last visit!

Been here a couple of times now and wanted to pop a review on here because I don't think I've done it before, this place is PERFECT for anyone travelling from the port, The staff are friendly and welcoming and very professional, The food (breakfast) was Well cooked, plenty of it and delicious, Absolutely fantastic prices for this economy too, plus the kids eat free, you really can't complain. Even managed to cater some Gluten free stuff for my wife who is Coeliac. Atmosphere was laid back, relaxed and very welcoming. Looking forward to visiting again on my next trip.

The food was filling and yummy. Service was a bit slow. Atmosphere:children laughing in the play area lovely smell and the kids laugh made you want to just go into the play area and be a kid again.

Not rated the food as we didn't eat only had a couple of drinks. My 5 year old grandson loved the place. so much for him to do with the indoor soft play and then the outside to. Would highly recommend

Used to be a lovely family restaurant years ago. Dirty and dilapidated now, sticky tables, dirty carpet, upholstery falling apart. The food is awful I can cook better myself. Terrible value considering the quality of the food. It’s only saving grace is the friendly and helpful nature of the staff.

One of the best fish and chips spots in Tynemouth! The service is friendly and efficient, perfect for a quick meal. While the restaurant is clean and conveniently close to the beach, seating is limited, there are only a couple of outdoor tables, and the indoor area often has a long queue. The price is reasonable also. Your best bet? Grab a takeaway and enjoy it by the water!

Had the kids portion of cod bites which was more than generous. So so tasty, fresh, and the homemade tartare sauce was incredible! We all loved it. Can’t wait to come back

Absolutely outstanding! Longstands Fish Kitchen is easily one of the best seafood spots around. The fish was perfectly fresh, beautifully cooked, and full of flavor — crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. The chips were golden perfection, and the portions generous. The staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely cared about making the experience great. You can taste the quality and passion in every bite. If you love great seafood and friendly service, this place is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be coming back again and again!

Probably the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Very light crispy batter and the cod was so fresh. Love that they have a board with who caught the fish and where ( no prizes for guessing North Atlantic ) The squid was also amazing. We were wishing we had room to try the sticky toffee pudding but the generous portions meant we were too full. Great place - glad we booked as they were busy

There’s a reason this place has award-winning chippies! I had the cod fish & chips (~£15), and my friend got the haddock with mushy peas add-on (£17 ish, I think), and both were AMAZING. The fish was perfectly cooked, and the tartare and chilli sauce took it to the next level. Didn’t even need salt or pepper—flavours were spot on! The staff were so lovely, like someone give them a raise lol 😭 I didn't get their names but they were two girls working on 16 Mar about 12-1 PM ish. Also, I got lucky getting a table without a booking, but I saw quite a few people turned away because it was full. If you want to secure a seat, definitely book ahead! Much love from Manchester! ❤️

Visitor from the States here! (Philadelphia/New York area, so I know good food!) The food was so good I never stopped chewing to take pictures! We started out with the fried cheese, pineapple fritters and tiger prawns with chili jam and I was already floored. The prawns were large and juicy and sauce was perfect! The pineapple fritters were a new and cool idea that went over well with kids and adults alike. I love that they mark vegetarian and gluten free options on their menu. I was torn between the fish and chips everyone raved about and the tiger prawn curry because I love a good curry sauce, so the owner recommended the fish and chips with curry sauce on the side and OMG! My mouth was so delighted! I chose haddock over cod as I had just had cod recently and the fish was so fresh and absolutely cooked to perfection. I couldn’t waste one bite of batter or fish being dipped in the curry and mushy peas together. This has got to be the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. With or without sauce every bite was amazing. The chips are thick and well prepared. Even though I didn’t have one bit of room left my friend and I indulged in dessert. He got the apple crumble crème brûlée that was on Special and I got the sticky coffee pudding with ice cream. We couldn’t decide which one was better but they were both on our top 10 list of dessert. Such a fantastic experience. The service was incredible and the place is cute and very very clean. Even the bathrooms at the end of the day. I might make trips back to the UK just to visit this place!

Firdt time here. Fish is cooked fresh so you have to wait. The fish was lovely, will try the restaurant part the next time

The pub on entry was bar to the right, more of a dining area to the left. We were greeted by a lovely lady who gave us a menu and took our drinks order, after a little while a gentlemen took our food order. The dining room is very well decorated and has a beautiful log fire. It wasn't long before the food came, and it did not disappoint ... the pie was beautifully cooked inside and out the mash was not my cup of tea but my partner liked it my mushy peas were what i can only describe as a childhood moment they were amazing and tasted how peas should unlike the watered down ones sold everywhere else. My gravy was lovely and thick. My partners cod was cooked so well it melted in your mouth. The chips are definitely the better option and are cooked so well!!! It's definitely worth the money. 100% recommended for anyone passing or local.

A super old pub retains lots of character. Once owned by the awful Scottish and Newcastle brewery. A Top pub, not a Low pub! Five real ales. Alic chose local N Shields brewery Three Kings. A good Pale Ale. Been to South Shields hundreds of times but only second visit to the North side. Booth loves this bar. Retains original character and serves super pies.

Fantastic Sunday meal! I went with the chicken and stuffing, smaller portion, and was still provided a very generous portion. All food served hot, quickly and by very accommodating staff. This was a great meal.

'went here to celebrate the 43rd anniversary of my 21st birthday last week. Many folks rave about the pies but I would like to rave about a different kind: the apple pie dessert - blinking marvellous. Jam packed solid to lid with chunky bits of apple. I think this is by far the best apple pie I have had in a pub or restaurant for decades. As for the service, ambience and everything else - top drawer. I have pooch and he was very much welcomed. Full range of brilliantly kept ales and all very friendly. I normally cant be bothered to write reviews but this is one of best pubs in the region without a doubt.

Excellent food at the Low Lights, great choice of craft ales too. Just my kind of pub, characterful, old school traditional pub, could have spent so much more time soaking up the atmosphere. My choice of food on the day was the Steak and Ale pie, and what a great choice it was. Crammed with meat, served with chips, mushy peas and a gravy boat. The reviews don't lie, this dish was spectacular in portion size and in taste, just delicious. Visiting Whitley Bay from Halifax with friends who recommended we try it, as they had done previously, albeit over 3 years ago. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, I really like this place.

Nipped in here with the wife for our lunch and I will be nipping in again very nice steak and mushroom pie, chips and mushy peas the wife had mince pie and chips .very nice and nice friendly staff . Back again and same out come steak & cheese pie 👌05/07/25

Lovely little Mexican joint. Came for North Tyneside Restaurant week and was really impressed with the burrito and fries. Good portion size and good array or options. Staff were lovely and chatty, and the place has a nice vibe. Definitely going back again to explore more of the menu.

4 of us booked a table here and were really glad we did, what started off as quiet soon filled up with hardly any tables left. Wide variety of food and drinks on the menu and every meal we ordered we weren’t disappointed with. Great friendly helpful service to top things off. We will definitely be back thank you

Craving for burritos and Lobo Rojo is on my doorstep. Really enjoyed and will try other stuff from their menu and will try their little lobo eateries at some point as well. Recommended!

This place is amazing!! We’ve been multiple times, and the food and service is always really good. Today I had a surf & turf burrito. Tasted amazing! Great portion size, and a fair price. Very friendly staff, and a really good atmosphere. Would recommend booking in advance as it gets busy

One of the best Mexican places I’ve visited! Had a lovely dinner with my partner and friends, starters were phenomenal!😍 Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. However we had some issues with food for my partner but manager and staff sorted it at the highest level of service. Definitely will come back again and recommend this place!

Children's food was way to salty. By the tine the food turned up at the table my daughter was starving, so we just left it. She is under 2 though and the amount of salt they put on the fries is insane. Service was reasonable and polite but not the level of service that requires a tip...... All the staff just look wat to shatter following a busy lunch period. Which is understandable. Bu why include service on the bill for just 2 people and a child? It's a bit assumptive and rude. Also the booths smell dirty the cushions need a good deep clean.... It did not feel clean for be sat there. Used to love this place but it's gone down hill since opening.

We were here midweek for a family birthday celebration. Everyone really enjoyed the food, soooooo tasty! Compliments to the chefs I had the chicken Mexican sandwich which was absolutely delicious. Service was good considering only 2 were serving all the tables, drinks and cleaning the tables after use. A little wait for drinks the odd time. Will definitely return.

All hype and a waste of money. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY Had a table booked on last night for 7 people. We were squished in to a booth and a single chair at the end (booth should really only be for 4 adults if you want to really eat and drink). The menu is support expensive for what it is providing. I got the half duck and pancakes to share with my wife for £20. The duck was horrible and it wasn't shredded how it should be, instead it was burnt and in chunks which needed working on before you could put into a pancake. Honestly, you can get a half duck pancake sent from all supermarkets now for under £7 and it would be much better. Drinks were flowing so I ordered a pina colada to join in but normally I'm not much of a drinker. They have me pineapple juice and argued there was alcohol in it but eventually the amazing waitress sorted it out. After 30 minutes of finishing 3 starters I had to ask them to clear the table and were ready for mains. We sat down around 18.00 to 18.30 as a group... at 21.00 we still didn't have our mains. Before this we noticed there was something wrong bendy no one was eating in the restaurant. We booked a table across the road and started putting on our coats etc when the main course came out at 21.05. We really wish we just stuck our ground and just left and went to the other restaurant. The food was utter trash. All our dishes lacked flavour. We all left all our food half done and just wanted to get out of the nightmare. The manager came over and did his best with his discounts but we still ended up giving them £200 as we understand it wasn't all the staffs fault but that is still a hard pill to swallow when you spend £200 to sit there for 3 hours and not get any good food to show for it. This place needs to stop focusing on being a party restaurant and actually start making proper food with taste and not serve out dishwater and unseasoned meats. Such a shame but the place has gone down hill and needs to stop scamming people. Worst dining experience I've had in my life but mcdonalds on the way home saved my night.

I was just looking around Tynemouth for somewhere to have dinner and on a whim entered the Buddha Lounge and Restaurant. From the get go the experience was great. Quick, attentive and very efficient staff. The drinks were fairly well prepared. I would certainly use less ice in some of the drinks. The food on the other hand was just what I was looking for. On my first visit I went for the Thai options and on the second, Chinese. Both were very well prepared and every morsel was delicious.

Very impressed by the Buddha Lounge! We didn't have a reservation but the welcoming staff found us a table within a minute despite it being busy. All the staff were friendly and very attentive. The food was delicious and there were plenty of vegan options. There's a superb offering of drinks too. It's a stunning venue that creates a great atmosphere.

Brilliant night out! We brought our visitors to Davantis, good choice as it turned out to be the perfect end to their trip 'up north' thanks to Grace who took orders and served the food. How she kept track of everything is beyond me. There was such a good menu we kept changing options. Grace was amazing, nothing was too much bother and the banter was so funny. The food was excellent to. When 'picky' southerners say its the best Italian they've had it speaks volumes. Fab atmosphere, couldn't fault a thing. Will definitely be back. Thanks again to all the staff for giving us a really brilliant night out.

Went on a Groupon deal. Parking is an issue unless you strike lucky with one in the reserved area. Staters were really good. The garlic bread is a pizza base type and is probably too big for one person as a starter. Potato skins were really good. My risotto didn't have much chicken in it and was a bit too tomatoey sauce wise. Service was good Would go back no problem

Had Rapid lunch time menu £11.95 on their website. Two drinks circa £12. The actual price of the meal was £13.95 and an additional non advertised 10% surcharge plus the cost of a coke which we did not order. The result was that an expected bill of circa £36 had become £47 which I discovered later re my bank balance. Defo will not be going again. Take care out there!

7 of us booked for late lunch 2.30pm. The place was fairly quiet with just a couple of tables occupied. The food here is excellent but the service is dreadful. A couple of disinterested and disengaged waitresses on duty. They had to be reminded to bring menus and cutlery to the table. After 30 minutes we had to find someone to take our order. The waitress who served us with our food was miserable and very off hand. When asked about the desserts she muttered something unintelligible. We were told they would bring the bill and card machine. We got fed up waiting and eventually went inside to pay. This place could be so much better if the staff were pleasant, welcoming and occasionally smiled. They appeared to be bored and treated us like an unwelcome distraction. We won't return.

Great night out in the Murano room. Great food and very attentive team serving us for our end of season coaches night out.

Great restaurant and bar. Had a really good meal, the kebabs are a real winner hear and all the hype around the halloumi fries is true. The decor is a funky and give a real bohemian vibe. They had a big selection of drinks and cocktails. If you ate looking for something a bit different give Elder and Wolf a go.

Fantastic flat breads and really great staff, especially Ed who is always super friendly and welcoming. I love the halloumi flatbread so much that I order it every time - the flavours are so good, and the jalapeno slaw only kicks it up a notch. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Whitley Bay, if only to enjoy the smells from the wood fired oven as you walk in the door 👌

A little on the pricey side for essentially a kebab or pizza but I must say the food is absolutely delicious. The chicken was cooked so well and the slaw and halloumi was so good. Well done! We take our hats off!

I love everything about the place, a bit unusual place to eat , not a chain i guess, The food was tasty. One downside I think is a little overpriced. Saying that as working in restaurants for over 20 years.

Absolutely delicious food, lovely staff and a really good vibe. The posh kebab is my favourite, but tried mackerel tacos this time round and they were lush. Pizzas also excellent. Portions are generous to say the least...good thing you can take anything left home with you! It can be a wait but that's what you need to expect when everything is cooked from scratch in one oven.

Came for lunch without really knowing what to expect, but had heard lots of good things. It was less busy when we were there so it was fairly chilled with friendly, attentive service. They had a decent selection of drinks with Almasty IPA on draft, so I was happy. I was initially going to go for a pizza but was persuaded to try the kebab, and I'm glad I did. The food was astonishing, with succulent chicken and tender lamb, marinated beautifully. And you get plenty of it, too! Almost overwhelming really. The side of Halloumi fries was equally excellent. Both of us were well impressed and will definitely come back.

We have been here twice for food. The first time it was for our son's 21st birthday. One was gammon that couldn't be faulted by the missus. Me and the kids ordered steak and asked for it to be cooked rare, all were well above medium rare. All three steaks were very peppery. I've looked through most of the reviews and it looks like they have trouble cooking a simple steak, however they were very tender and not chewy. Today we had a Sunday lunch, one turkey one beef and one beef rib (our daughter had steak) and I must say that it was probably one of the best Sunday roasts that I've had from any pub. The rib of beef just fell apart as it's supposed to do, the roast potatoes were bang on, the Yorkshire puddings were very crisp and fresh, the veg was spot on but for me it was the gravy. The attention to detail with the gravy was a pleasant suprise because not only did our meals come with gravy already on the plate they were also served with a small gravy boat in case you needed a little extra . It seems like it's the steaks that are the issue regarding most of the bad reviews. We will definitely be going back 👏👏👏👏

long time since I visited this pub but I won't leave it so long next time. The service from Wendy was spot on a lovely friendly face who made sure there was no empty plates on tables for very long the food was beautiful, I had the 7oz gammon with sizzling onions and the other half had chicken skewers no room for afters but from what I could see being brought out they looked delicious definitely recommend this lively pub now sat watching the futi on the big screens one of many if your a sports fan

I loved Omni, a unique place combining cafe culture, family friendly dining and top notch food. Go there for the delicious Vietnamese inspired cuisine but also enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and the smiling, helpful staff who are happy to advise on the menu. I tasted several of the small plates, some delightfully subtle and some with more pungent flavours. Each one was tasty, distinctive and delicious and dining with a group of friends offered a great opportunity for sharing plates. So good to have a place where authentic flavours of South-East Asia and friendly Geordie culture marry so well. Highly recommended.

Always amazing. The prices look expensive and have gone up a lot since it's inception, but I only begrudge paying high prices if there's uncertainty over the food. You don't get that here. Incredible food guaranteed and worth every penny. We went for a selection of dishes; our normal go to dumplings, belly pork and beef shin curry. All can been seen below. Everything was absolutely spot on. Too good probably. We ordered too much but felt obliged to finish it all as it was that good. They offer incredible vegetarian and vegan options too. Great wine selection. All round amazing. The atmosphere is always very chilled and relaxed and the servers always really friendly and attentive. So hard to try new places when there's somewhere this good right on your doorstep.

Obvious influencer bait. The food portions are small and left me hungry after. I ordered chicken wings, they were terrible. Absolutely tiny, they came with lemons which I didn't even use, yet they completely overpowered the taste of everything else leaving me with sour wings which were miserable to eat I don't get the hype at all

Top place. Consistently good food. Friendly service. But, its becoming increasingly difficult to book a table! Beef shin curry, prawn fried rice, and the pork dumplings are my favourites. But the ribs and the pork belly are also very popular!

We had waited a long time to go here. Hands down so if the best food that we have eaten in a long time. The curry was fantastic and the belly pork was sensational. Well worth a visit if it’s on your list! Photos do not do the food justice here. Friendly staff, plenty of comfortable seating and takes American Express!!

A hidden gem on the water. Amazing food, such value for money and incredibly tasty. The staff couldn't do enough for us in relation to food intolerance. Positioned perfectly at the end of the walkway and onto the water. The view of the marina is breathtaking. Get a seat next to the window and you will not be disappointed!!

Had a great lunch at the Lock today. Food was really nice, highly recommend halloumi burger, it was delicious. Only downside was there wasn't any non dairy options for milkshakes but we can go without one. Service was great and with the smile unlike most places nowadays. Will definitely coming back again for another quiet pint and a delicious meal.

Wonderful place! Love the decoration and how well the staff are trained! Excellent customer service. Lovely presentation of the food and the quality was great. We were very lucky to pop in for a delicious bunch and we took home two yummy muffins for the journey home. I couldn’t finished my avocado toast so I took it for the journey. Well done for using recycled material on the take away containers

Wow lived in sheilds 13 years and first time at the lock the fish and chips were on another level , the mrs even ate the lot they were that good, daughter said her lasagne was devine, the atmosphere was so relaxed ,staff attentiveness was first class not overbearing ,Deano was fabulous and as an added bonus we now know we can take our dog in with us, can't fault the whole evening exceptional find we will be trying a breckfast very very soon

When we visited on a busy Bank Holiday morning, the place was very busy -- no doubt the lovely location on the marina attracts lots of visitors. Three of us ordered breakfasts featuring scrambled eggs, which were cooked very poorly: they were over salted and dry. They were so bad we returned them. One of us had smashed avocado, which would have been greatly improved by a splash of lime juice and a spoonful of olive oil. The service was fine, but the waitress did forget, perhaps owing to busyness, to bring orange juice and water.

Just the had the Shipwreck Platter. Just wow absolutely tremendous. Obvs will be going again!!! Defo recommend this place. PS it also has an outdoor area overlooking the Tyne.

Tried for the first time after hearing great things . We definitely weren’t disappointed! Everything from the friendly greeting and prompt attention, to the most amazing Sunday lunch was fantastic! Great atmosphere, fabulous location and an all round brilliant experience! 5* definitely!!

A cool looking restaurant serving a good range of food. Pizza was nice. Pretty much full size pizza for the kids one which was good. Kids loved it. Adult pizza was lovely My wife got a beef rice bowl - I think it was a soy sauce based dish and was inedible. Wayyyy too salty. I think this recipe needs adjusting.

It was a Monday afternoon so quiet only reason I gave four stars. Food was really good. Enjoyed it immensely will be going back

Went in for the first time with a group of friends looking to get a couple of drinks and maybe some food. Advertised as a bar and kitchen. Upon entering we were greeted by two young girls who seemed completely bewildered and had no idea really what to do with us. Waiting to be seated when your popping in for drinks especially when people greeting you don't seem to know what to do when there were 5 people and a dog completely killed Any excitement we had about our first visit. Eventually we pointed out a table that was clearly visible and not reserved. And by that point decided we wouldn't be eating and just have a drink and move on. We had eagerly anticipated our visit as it had been on the cards for a while. But when we got there it felt very much like a restaurant pretending it was a cool bar. And I'm the end failed at both. It advertises as dog friendly but that seemed to be what baffled the hosts. Its a really nice venue and the drinks were to be expected. But that initial welcome just left us feeling like it wasn't a venue we wanted to be in. There are better places to visit in the area that are more welcoming and I'm surprised that this venue has the reputation it does.

We came here during North Tyneside restaurant week as a party of 5. The place is nice inside and in a great location. Unfortunately, all 5 members of our party got sick from the food so I can't give it a good rating for that reason. This may have been because the food took a long time to come out, seems they were understaffed bless them!

Always a lovely dining experience - we were quick to be seated with our dog and enjoyed the food! Affordable, quality, hot food! 👍 Will be back again at the end of the month with family!

I can't find words to explain how even more fantastic of a time my wife and I had here..some great choices on the menu ,but we went for the sharing platter as we did both want to try everything...we were not let down by anymeans.This is a must for everyone to try.

I and my family ;16, 17 & ??, ??😏 went here for sons 16th birthday and had the 6 course set meal which is the only option but the food was delicious and the service was great. I don’t take to the pretentiousness of some fine dining establishments but the Roxburgh is not like that at all. The food is brought to with a simple explanation and it is delicious. You pay an appropriate price which isn’t cheap. But as a self confessed tight Yorkshireman i was happy to pay for the whole great experience. Save up and go!

Friendly and attentive service, decent food for the most part. A couple of the courses were not so good, and didn't quite work with the rest of the menu, but overall good, with a couple of standout dishes. Beautifully cooked souffle!

The food here is excellent. Really good 5 course tasting menu, a wine pairing option or lovely drinks choices. The setting is a small, bistro style, lovely restaurant. Great staff and atmosphere finish off the experience perfectly.

A dining experience that rivals any Michelin star restaurant. The ambiance, the staff, the service, the drinks, the INCREDIBLE food…the Roxburgh is in a league of its own. The attention to detail we experienced was incredible. Just loved everything about it. Can’t wait to go back.

Nice meal. Wine ok but at £40 pounds per bottle expected more. Overall satisfied with meal and service. Value for money little over priced in my opinion. Quality of ingredients great. Improvement menu cards explaining what is being served although the host/waitress explained it had to ask to repeat what it was we where eating. More detail would have been great. Nice night overall

Stunningly delicious! Have heard amazing things about The Roxburgh and am somewhat embarrassed to say that it's taken this long to get in and try it. Breakfast choices are awesome and we had a fantastic (giant) sausage roll and a massive bacon sandwich - loved both! Both come with their own brand/made ketchup which was a great compliment to both dishes. This really is a proud features for Whitley Bay and one I hope to return to for brunch, lunch and dinner!

Fantastic food. Top quality presentation and taste. This place should be regarded as one of the best in the greater Newcastle region. Cosy little place with great soundtrack on offer! Bonus of bringing your own beer/wine also.

Lucky enough to come here when visiting a friend who lives locally. Service was fantastic, especially handling allergy sensitivities. All dishes delicious and almost too big! Sadly no room left for dessert but friend's cheesecake looked amazing. Added to by an incredible view up. Highly recommended.

We had a reservation for more than 20 people and every one was amazed with the quality of the food, the attention to detail and the timely service of the food. I can’t wait to come back. This place is a gem! We have gone a few times and are very happy with the food and service every time! The price is also good for the quality and type of menu! The location is great with a lovely view. Perfect for a special occasion or just a genuinely lovely meal out!

I booked a table at 31 The Quay for my husband's birthday having seen a random menu post on Facebook. I was a little apprehensive as I am the pickiest eater but I thought I'd try something new and i'm glad we did! The food was impeccable, even the focaccia "nibbles" were super soft and fluffy. My husband and I were very impressed. 100% recommend, we will definitely be back.

Sunday Lunch The roast potatoes seemed to have a shell as hard as a conker , I checked the knife and yes, to my surprise it was serrated although still required more of a hacking movement to pierce the outer shell, the broccoli was rather limp to say the least. As for the mashed potato it lacked body, looked and tasted as if it had been left in a whipping machine overnight , I’ve had thicker soup, unlike the turnip which as least had fibre. The Yorkshire pudding was light and crispy, unfortunately letdown by a gravy that was thin and bland. I felt the roast beef was a little undercooked for me and tasted more of a jelly than textured , but that’s more of a personal preference. The cauliflower cheese was average as the cabbage. This was followed by a sticky pudding with ice cream and a butterscotch sauce, ( butterscotch being a favourite of mine, it didn’t much taste like butterscotch ,the main reason I ordered it) The service was a little slow although it did add to a more relaxed atmosphere especially if one isn’t in a hurry. None of the staff ever presented a smile. The place itself has a vibrant feel and quite light and airy appeal. The place is spotlessly clean and the open kitchen ads to the experience. Overall the place and the presentation can best be described as ,nice, although for over £90 for two of us I wouldn’t go again, for the rest of the day I felt robbed.

The table was booked by our friends and to be honest I wasn't expecting the bottomless brunch to be worth the money. I've got to admit I was wrong. I didn't even expect to have many drinks but I was also wrong about that. It was a Tapas style menu which was served one dish at a time over the course of our visit. I enjoyed every course, some really tasty well presented food. We had to take some of it home as couldn't finish it all. We intend to go again.

Called in for lunch we ordered the tapas and the meat platter and the food did not dissapoint . The food was Amazing , came quickly and the Asian beef was unreal . We had a fantastic server , I asked her name and Summer made sure our visit was memorable and will definitely be back.

Summer behind the bar is EXCELLENT at her job, she’s very good at communicating and friendly. We enjoyed the food, much more flavour wise than we were expecting from a pub! Good selection of wines and Hozier playing, what more could you want. Will be back x

While in the area popped in for some coffee, and noticed the breakfast menu. It was an impromptu visit but the Mexican eggs were absolutely delicious. Eggs perfectly done and a flat white to complete my breakfast. Highly recommend for cocktails on the evening too. Thanks you really enjoyed my visit today

This bar has recently been refurbished to a high standard. It has a new upstairs bar and a function room on the top floor. It has a great range of cocktails and drinks and the prices are reasonable at around £6.50 per cocktail.

First time visiting, good bar playing good music, food was nice but could have done with a few more chips

Lovely little place, staff were pleasant and food was fab. We had 2 lots of the tapas deal (4 tapas and 2 drinks) with a couple of extras on the side. There were 3 in my party but many would be able to simply share 1 tapas deal between 2... we are ganits though and could have happily had a tapas deal each Haha. Will definitely be back soon

Went here on a Friday, took our booking with very little nice , we were greeted by a very friendly and welcoming waitress who showed us to our table. Not long after they took our order for food and drinks. The drinks arrived promptly followed shortly after that by our starter of bruschetta, calamari and garlic bread, all beautifully cooked and presented. Then for mains we had gyros and a big beautiful seafood platter. Everything cooked to perfection. Amazing food, great service. Would highly recommend

Had a great night here. First time. A lovely evening so we had a table outside. Really friendly staff. Great starter. The spicy cheese was delicious. Main was a lovely slow cooked lamb. Home Made Baklava ans Tiramisu for dessert. Washed down with a delicious carafe of chilled white wine. It's great that we have lovely delicious but affordable restaurants like this in Shields now.

We had the opportunity at the last minute to eat some amazing food here at OPA. My husband had lamb shank that just looked and tasted he said amazing. I had the beef which was delicious, we had 3 courses and was amazing value for money. We will definitely be back and the staff were amazing really friendly thank you.

Best Greek food in North Tyneside, as well as amazing Sunday dinners for 11 / 12 quid. Food is fresh and delicious - and the portions are nice and big! Lovely staff and great service. Can't really recommend enough.

We ate dinner here on a Saturday night. The service and food was all top notch! Bread and butter was brought to the table. Had calamari for appetizer. So fresh and tender. Served hot and cooked perfectly. For dinner I had Salmon with orange sauce and a side salad. Husband had Pasta with sausage and wild mushrooms. Both mains were cooked with skill and we enjoyed our meal.

There's been a marked decline since it changed owners. For some strange reason the menu leans Italian now instead of Greek. No draught beers and no Ouzo available. Slow service, and slower arrival of inferior quality and cold food. High prices, and low standards (heavy reliance on the microwave was notable). These were the features of my most recent and sadly final visit.

My absolute favourite place to go! Food is always amazing, huge portions and cooked perfectly. Always able to accommodate my food allergy and I’ve never been ill after eating. The staff are the friendliest, most amazing people who truly care about their cafe and their customers! Dog friendly, vibes are impeccable, love this place!!

The food was amazing and soooo tasty. Very attractive place to visit and the decor has a style of the "South seas" Carribean/California Surf style Really nice. Staff so happy and friendly and felt instantly at home. Deffo a regular place for me from now on!

We ate at Allards on the quay last night with family & there was a slightly longer than usual wait but the waitress who served us (Michelle) was absolutely brilliant. She was calm the whole time even though it was busy & she really looked after us. There was another lady called Clare who also helped look after our table & I couldn't fault either of them. Michelle was fantastic & she made such a difference. Thank you for a beautiful meal & gorgeous service!

I’ve only been at lunchtime, easy to get a table without booking. My only disappointment is that 3 from 4 visits there was no lamb options as it was still cooking, presumably for the evening service. However, there are still plenty choices on the menu. Staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly.

Service was at its best here today, despite not having a children's menu best efforts were made to accommodate our little lad, we noticed other little people that were there too so maybe a kids menu would be a good call? What was great about today's visit aside from the amazing food offering was that a member of staff was a parent and absolutely got it when we made attempts to put together a meal of sorts for him & a suitable drink! Everything was clean & tidy everyone was polite & attentive & we had a great meal too!

Really comfortable and relaxing place to grab some breakfast. We took our 2 week old baby on a weekday morning and were not disappointed. I had the kippers and bits and my wife had the full English breakfast. Both meals were delicious. The service was fantastic and the food was of a high quality. There was a baby changing area. We enjoyed our time here and will be back again.

Very efficient chippy, and compared to other places in the north east, the price was competitive, as such I had high hopes. I'll begin by mentioning I am a critic, and any negatives I mention are actually common with these eateries these days, years ago it was hard to find a bad chippy, now it's the opposite, very difficult to find a good one. I've boycotted chippies in many of my recent reviews, because I've avoided them, I find the prices offensive, in that these small businesses feel they can charge a small fortune for something that is very cheap to produce at home. Let's try one on the fish quay, surely we'll find something special? Have to say the fish wasn't quite up to expectations, very greasy and only 'just' cooked, taste and consistency, for a chippy on the fish quay, was far less than expected. Chips, though mostly edible, many had eyes in them, care and attention needs to be paid if you're to serve fish & chips, especially when you've a markup well into the 100s of %. Asked for salt and vinegar, but no taste of vinegar present, either missed it, or more likely it's very watered down. Would I go back? Sadly the answer would be no, but as I mentioned previously I have much higher expectations. Staff, service and efficiency would however get 5*, I feel it's more that management prefer to cut corners, and this leads to a lower rating. Cooked at home the chips would cost literally pennies, the fish, caught fresh (which I'd expect on a fish quay) would be very tasty with no greasy residue. There'd be no eyes in the chips, and every one would be eaten and enjoyed. I'd of course use non-brewed condiment vinegar, but I'd not be watering away the taste. If you're paying good money, eating out or takeaway, it should be at the very least as good as at home. Sadly, none of the chippies we've tried over the past 10 years come close. If I was comparing to others in the north east, I'd call it average.

1st visit and would return. Friday 20th June 2025. Staff were welcoming and friendly, all had a nice demeanor. Food took approx. 30- 40 minutes but it was a busy Friday evening. From trying the burgers you can see how they've won a few local competitions. Attention to detail from the mince to a wide variety of quality ingredients says a lot. In the top 3 burgers of all time for me.

First time I have been to this bar. The food we got was for sharing and the quality and portion sizes was good. The cost wasn't too extreme. Good place for dates and bringing family. The staff were friendly. All round good experience.

I went in for a late lunch (about 2pm) on a Friday and there were a few empty tables. It's table service and I was quickly brought a menu and asked for a drinks order. They have a lot of different things on tap but they also have a great cocktail menu. The food is mostly burgers but I was told they've won awards for their burgers and, after getting a Cluck Norris chicken burger, I'm not surprised! It was one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. I was only sorry I didn't have enough time in Tynemouth to go back and get one of their beef burgers! I also got a salted caramel ice cream cheesecake, which was delicious. The staff were all lovely, really helpful and friendly. Service was prompt but you're absolutely not rushed. The atmosphere was relaxed and even though there weren't many people there, it didn't feel empty. It just felt very chilled. They do allow well behaved dogs, and there were a few in there, so if you're going for a walk nearby it's a great place to stop for food. Overall I would definitely recommend going here and if I get the chance, I'll be coming back.

Food and cocktails were so tasty! Loved the Korean tacos! Update on cocktails were much better than the previous time I visited and even the non alcoholic cocktails tasted just as good! Service was excellent!

Not the best place ive been to, I was constantly swatting flies from start to finish. On paper the food sounds good but when it arrived it was mediocre at best and the portion size was lacking. Only place ive been to where they cut your steak before you get it so within minutes it was cold and not enjoyable also the skinny fries I ordered were undercooked, almost raw. The music was too loud, you couldnt have a conversation without raising your voice I really wouldnt reccomend this place.

Just arrived at 22.30 after a long drive, to be greeted by the lovely Susan & Jade. All smiles and warm greetings, making me feel very welcome. When i asked if the biscuits in the charity stsnd were a cash only donation, realising i didnt have any cash on me, Jade very kindly offered to treat me. If only there was a 6th star to give these ladies, who've absolutely made my evening.

I arrived early and they were very kind and the amazing lady behind the counter Vikky was an absolute hero. She looked after my daughter, as if she was her own. I couldn’t ask for better service that woman deserves a raise. Because of her, I would want to give this place six stars. The rest of the staff were brilliant too.

Staying hear before and after cruise that is leaving from Newcastle Port Authority. Room was clean but had an odd smell in it that smelled like pickles to me. Free wifi. Breakfast and meals available at the restaurant next door. Felt safe. Lots of parking during our stay.

Last minute on the day booking due to changed plans. The booking process was quick and easy. Met by a very friendly gentleman on reception who got us checked I. and helpfully pointed out the local amenities (including the Brewers Fayre next door). The room was clean, comfortable, and had all the usual premier inn items you expect. But no air conditioning which would have helped in the June heat and humidity. Location is close to the busy working docks that continue to operate through the night (with some associated noise as expected). Overall a good experience and I would visit again if at Tyneside

We checked in for 1 night on Thursday 22nd May at around 5pm and were greeted by 2 super friendly women on reception (one was called Susan, unfortunately I can’t remember the other name) who went out their way to help make our stay great. The hotel itself was pretty quiet, basic but clean and comfortable and good value for the £44 we paid.

Had a lovely 2 days stay with my children who of whom is disabled, staff couldn't do enough for us, even bringing the kids some sweets one night, letting us take books and toys from reception. Would definitely recommend and will be booking another stay with you soon!

Staff were kind and friendly which made the difference! The rooms were outdated and smelt so strongly of perfume on arrival that I almost was sick. Other than this the stay was ok, there was lacking coffee etc and for the price you pay I did expect a lot more.

Our first visit to the and we found it to be a great friendly pub and atmosphere, dog friendly which is always great. Food is priced well and the staff are quick to serve you at the bar or restaurant part. Plenty of outdoor seating with room between tables so you don’t feel squashed it. Craig the new bar manager was great to chat to along with the rest of the staff. The locals are friendly as well and always good for a chat. We definitely be visiting again soon.

Visited on a busy Saturday afternoon just before a footy match was due to be shown on the TV's, as we didn't have a booking were were allocated a 'reserved' table and advised we would need to have finished in a couple of hours which was fine. After ordering food we were served by a very nice lady called Lisa, who to be honest was probably one of the best serving staff in the whole Green King chain of pubs and restaurants, very professional, chatty and not in your face like some others. As my son has very recently moved to the area I am very limited visit again very soon. Thanks Lisa you were great.

We went in for a meal but after a few minutes walk out, a group of four guys were sitting and one of them was very loud and using bad language no doubt wanting to be the centre of attraction, we will not be going back in that pub .

This was our first visit for 2 meals for. £9.99 my wife and I was greeted by. Lovelly staff and left to browse through the menu. The man serving us was lovelly and helpfull and nice to talk to. My wife had a rhubarb gin. Some thi g she has never tried before but was gorgeous. I had steak a E ale pie which I was expecting our portions to be smaller as they was on the special. This was not. The case. The portions were large superbly. Cooked and very The man serving us checked everything was OK without I trudging and was nice to talk to. The pudding is out of this world nice and a massive portion for the price. We will 100 %return and have recommended it to our friends.

So we had a meal on a Wednesday night, it was a bit quiet as expected but the food and service was 5 Star. The 16.95 meal deal with a glass of wine for 2.50 was excellent. We would definitely recommend this place and will definitely be back . The food is really good and no complaints.

An absolutely amazing restaurant, the food is delicious, and really reasonably priced. There's a really nice, cosy, and friendly atmosphere inside and there's a great view of the town centre. Carly, Ingrid, Laura, and everyone else who works there, are all so nice. We love this restaurant so much that we had our wedding reception there and they were so great and accommodating on our special day. Overall, would recommend to everyone.

This was a great find and stop. We were cycling back home and called in for a quick pizza. The pizza was outstanding and arrived quick. Literally were down and dusted in 22 minutes. The venue is great, staff are friendly. I will be coming back again... Take my time the next visit.

A lovelly bar serving great beer ales and spirits. We visit regularly during the day and sit and have a nice drink. The staff are lovelly . You can sit inside or outside in comfortable seating but still feeling like you have plenty of space . Prices are to be expected for the area not cheap but not too high . A very relaxing place

Lovely place with good views across the water.went here with the wife for a pre Valentine's meal. Food was lovely, fresh and well presented. Scallop starter was gorgeous. I had salmon and the wife had smoked haddock, both were delicious. Added bonus of a deal being on giving us the 2 mains for £7.50 each, which we were bot aware off, and thought we had been under charged. Staff were friendly and attentive. Was a lovely night.

Lovely small cozy restaurant which is upstairs. Small menu, means fresh ingredients. Good set menu, my fish and chips were very tasty and so well presented. White linen tablecloths which do make a difference to the whole setting. The service was excellent over the Easter weekend when we visited.

This place is the hidden gem that you've been looking for...... The chef deserves an award purely for managing to serve such top end food for the money. It's a quality over quantity place, don't expect big portions.. It's not fast food either so don't go when you're in a rush. River cafe is all about high quality food and flavours, I've been a few times now and tried more new tastes there than anywhere round here - everything cooked perfectly too. 3 courses for £8.95 during the day is good anywhere but the standard of food sets this place apart... The smoked mashed potatoes yesterday were off the scale. I cant recommend it highly enough to do it justice.

We had another wonderful meal here. The food is so fresh, well cooked and good value. We'll be back soon. We often visit River Café and are never disappointed. The welcome is warm and the ambience pleasant. The menu is full of good quality ingredients. A Riverside gem.

We wanted somewhere where we could get a quick cup of tea. So we searched on Google maps and this place was at the top of the list. So we took a ten minute walk to give these guys a try... We walked in and asked if we could have "just two teas" and was greeted with a great Geordie welcome. All we can say is the teas were lovely at a very reasonable price. We were given a menu "just in case", but we simply didn't have time. But the menu did look appetising and we did see what others had ordered and that looked great. So gutted we couldn't stay long, but hope to pop in again in the not too distant future. (We live in Manchester by the way)

Normally not don't have a bad word but I get same lunch once a week . I have to pay for each item separately I was told . Today I ʻordered as usual a different server asked me do I not want it as the meal on the menu ( same as iv ordered for months So why is one selling the items separately

I ordered coffe and Eggs Benedict for breakfast. - Ask for your coffee to be ready when your food is. We got the coffees straight away but had to wait for the food for 15 minutes by which time the coffees have gone lukewarm. He only had to serve another couple in the meantime so wasn't busy. - The food came cold with the middle slightly warm. Again disappointing having to eat and drink cold/lukewarm items. - The Hollandaise sauce was very VERY vinegary 😣 Looking forward to the stomach pains... + On the positive side presentation was nice + The Chai Latte and the Cappuccino tastes nice

I come here regularly with my autistic son as he loves coming here, he always has their sausages and chips with a extra side of chips. Today I was told NO only one portion of chips! What a joke. Get your act together!

Review for just my meal of Katsu chicken. Bowl full of salad leaves. 1small piece of chicken cut into 4. Rice and at best a tablespoonful of katsu sauce. Apparently bought in, in portion size !!! £6:50. Disgraceful. Children’s meal got more for £3:50. 2 chicken strips, peas and chips with a drink.

Breakfast for 8.50, not very warm and the smallest eggs ever, sausages barely cooked and black pudding under cooked , other stores like morrisons do similar breakfast to a better standard and a better price with less waiting time

One of our restaurants in this area that we definitely always eat at is Colemans. Very tender fish that melts in your mouth and the delicious side dishes bring us here again (july 2024 and now 11. th july 2025) and again! great service!

Finally had my Lobster 🦞 😋 2 x daughters treat for father's day, and fantastic 👏 also had scallops, with chips and salad 🥗 washed down with a cold pint of Moretti, and it was to die for! Staff first class 👌 and lovely place. Plenty of parking adjacent, or across the road, and right on the sea front, so you can walk it off after!! You must go for the culinary experience 😁

Came to Coleman's for the first time. It's pretty hard to come to a family business that's been open for years in a seaside town and have a bad experience. Coleman's is a perineal fish and chips restaurant not to be missed. The portion sizes are huge and the food is great. The homemade tarter sauce is not to be missed. Highly recommend it.

Ocean Rd has been famous for takeaways for decades but you simply just visit South Shields for fish and chips! The competition is strong across the town but Colmans is the best, no question. You can sit down all civilised-like in the restaurant next door or you can grab takeaway and go sit on the beach. Whichever you chose you won't be disappointed and you can even find out which local boats landed the catch. Best fish and chips in South Shields!

The best Sunday dinner we’ve had in a long time. Great Sunday Dinner that arrived really quick, it’s also Dog friendly, absolutely perfect for us. Huge portions, friendly staff, Well worth the money.

The staff were generally helpful and professionally pleasant. The Sunday Lunch food on the whole was good. It was refreshing to have fresh seasonal veg perfectly cooked unlike mushrooms frozen veg that can be found in some places. I was disappointed by the vegetarian option. The cauliflower steak was half a head of a small cauliflower, thrown onto a griddle to char part of it. There were no herbs, spices or sauce on the "steak". I would be willing to go back again, to see if substituting the cauli steak for maybe a cauliflower cheese, would improve my experience.

What a lovely restaurant. Ambient and atmosphere there is pure magic. Rustic, classy and rich in every aspect. Excellent food, great pint and all followed by amazing customer service. If I could give 6 stars I would.

Guy was very nice who served us, but Jesus service was so slow. We got steaks and I was so disappointed I've never had to add so much salt to a meal. They also put this disgusting carrot sauce thing on the plate it was rotten. I hate paying for steak and then it's awful. Nothing had any flavour. Dunno if your chef is a smoker... I don't like sending food back it's awkward and it's not always taken well. This used to be our go to place.

Called in late afternoon, service quick but then the place was very quiet, ordered two hot meat baps with Yorkshire pudding chips and gravy, waitress was putting cutlery on table as I returned from ordering, beer was nice, meal arrived within 10 minutes, first impression was good size portions but went downhill from there. The bap was filled with the Yorkshire (stale and cold) gravy on the bap was warm and the meat was what I could only describe as scraps or crumbs left over when carving a joint and only a spoonful if that, The chips were piping hot as was the separate pot of gravy, informed the waitress our dissatisfaction but told her not to bother as we were leaving. We don’t know what’s happened to the place as we’ve had some nice food there over the years and it’s not the cheapest place for pub scran. Giving this one a miss for a while !

I was there recently and had carrot and coriander soup, it tasted amazing. However when I went to eat the bread-bun it was very stale and then I realised there was mould on one of the butters. The waitress was very good and immediately went to change the bread to a stotty bun and provided more butter. I do think I should have been offered a refund because it really put me off the food.

Visited today, around 3.15. Place was pretty quiet - we were seated by a very friendly staff member, who took our order promptly - unfortunately it was a bit downhill from there. Food was served quickly - so quickly in fact we got it before our drinks. My plate wasn’t what I expected, but I was starving 🙈 only when I’d had a few bites I realised that half of the ingredients were missing (Katsu loaded fries - no chillies or spring onions) at that point we’d already had check back. I mentioned it on paying our bill, and was offered coffees, but declined the offer. Used to really rate the place, but it’s gone downhill the last few visits- and considering how quiet it was, it was pretty disappointing- £12 for loaded fries that weren’t exactly loaded - don’t think I’d return again.

Attended for brunch after Christmas with friends from the south. Unfortunately a chef hadn't showed up so they were incredibly stressed and the food wait was over an hour even though it wasn't busy. The staff were incredibly kind and offered to refund us for our wait, as well as giving us a voucher to be used the following month. We didn't request the refund as we weren't in a rush and the food was beautiful. We felt the staff tried their hardest to make the experience better

Poor hygiene place. Sticky tables, mess on the table nobody cleaned. Over 5 tiny flies buzzing around the table,extremely annoying. Basically they appeared around every table. Tapas isn’t authentic at all. So disappointed. *Meat paella very greasy, *meatballs board-line rank, gross. *Thai chilli prawn ‘bao’ (turned out bao stands for ‘baozi’ in Chinese) is sweet bread with a prawn and piece of sweet pineapple in, personally think not a brilliant combination, boring flavour. *the pita bread with 3 types of hummus turned out to be same hummus in 3 different colors and doesn’t even taste of garlic. *white wine tastes watery. 55 pounds for that. NO THANKS. We will NOT return.

The food was just OK, but the service made up for that. The lady who welcomed and served us, Clementina, was first class. She made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived and knew everything on the menu, making good recommendations to us. It would be great if the food could be as good as the service, and I would be more likely to become a regular diner at Allard's.

I had high expectations. The venue looks great, decorated very well. However, no front of house staff and the assumed manager didn’t look up from her laptop in the corner to get us seated. Waited so long to have our order taken so we went to the bar. Flies buzzing everywhere and an extreme smell coming from it. Poor lad behind the bar was lovely. Chose to have one drink and leave. Couldn’t imagine ordering food from a restaurant that has such a lack of hygiene. You’d think with the prices of the food they’d be able to buy cleaning products. Not sure if those flies or that revolting smell will be fixed by anything but fire at this point. I wouldn’t even recommend this if it was free.

Great friendly service but awful food. With regret we ordered some of the tapas and was massively disappointed. The meatballs had freezer burn and the sauce tasted a bit like Heinz tomato soup and the other 3 tapas was far too sweet and to be honest made us feel a bit sick after. I'd say that we left 80 - 90% of the food ordered which is a shame as looked forward to visiting but have to say will not be back nor would I reccomend.

Relatively quiet at the time we were in. Ordered a Allards breakfast bagel and a breakfast burrito. Both looked decent on arrival but a good vet would’ve been able to bring back both the sausage and bacon to life. Honestly, thought my burrito had been microwaved. Not a grill mark to be seen and both lacked any real flavour. Sad as I know this place is popular. Wouldn’t recommend 👎🏼

As a Chinese food restaurant the taste is not satisfactory for me. The cooking has room for improvement. The staffs are polite and serving well anyway.

Took the family out for some food and drinks. Haven't been for few years due to not having a good experience, the last time I was there. But happy to say, things has changed for the better and the food was amazing, kids loved the variety of spreads and hubby and I had a fantastic evening. Spend about £100 for 3 kids and 2 adults with drinks.

This is one of the best local spots. The food and atmosphere is magical, you do feel as though your in a traditional restaurant. The staff are also very helpful, doing everything they can to make sure your dining experience is top notch. The food is also divine with something for everyone. No, this place is one of the worst all you can eat places! The amount of MSG in the food will have you itching & scratching & after a very small amount you'll feel bloated & unable to eat more then be starving an hour later! Go to Anesa in Newcastle! That's unreal & really well done

As far as all you can eat Chinese buffets go this is pretty decent, I have been a few times, kids always enjoy it, staff are friendly n atmosphere is nice n relaxed, good selection of dishes, the hot n sour soup here is really good, cud maybe add a coupla extra dishes to their grand buffet but no complaints, good value for money.

This is amazing and has such nice food available. All hot and ready to go. Plates are piled high here and the value for the evening was very good. Slightly more expensive for the evening and bank holiday. Have high chairs and baby changing.

Insanely good deal for delicious fresh seafood: giant portions, delicious Italian sauces, and everything is super fresh. We got the sea bass with clams, the king prawns, and the. Iced seafood platter (which came with Salomon prawns calamari, tuna, and sardines). Everything was divine and a quarter of the price of places around the same area. If you like fine food for amazing prices, run here!

Sambuca always delivers to the same standard. Good friendly service with some good grub. Sauces with the fish were a bit on the rich side which would be the only grumble really

Decided to pop into here on a whim and so glad we did. The portion sizes were great. The potato skins came with two sauces. One regular and and one spicy and it was well matched. I literally ate everything that was put in front of me. Very much recommend this restaurant. Only downsides were how busy the place was and being placed by the toilets.

3 of us with our 4 dogs frequented this restaurant yesterday evening 11th Aug, sitting outside. The waiter happily extended the lunch fish platter special as it wasn't busy. It was actually delicious & good value for money. We tipped generously. However 3 to 4 hours later we were all took short with diarrhea, all 3 of us. Our friend just managed to get home before she soiled herself. My husband & I spent the night on the toilet. I rang the restaurant at 11:30am today to explain we got food poisoning from them I was assured a manager Fabio would ring back. After 2 more calls with promises of someone coming back to me - nothing. Obviously refrigeration & simple hygiene isn't being followed. After writing my review I will be filling in a report to the food standards agency, so no one else has to suffer with food poisoning. Be warned out there, they don't even care. We were not even offered our money back.

Asked waitress if it was possible to have Spaghetti with oil and garlic and when the food arrived it came with chunks of chicken and I explained to the waiter who’s english was basic that it wasn’t what I ordered and of course seconds later the same dish minus the chicken accompanied by large pieces onion and large pieces of green peppers in an awful oil……shocking ….i then ordered a pizza and left the first dish and the pizza was nice…….in summary sub standard and the staff could recommended another dish having seen that i had no intention of eating it?……shockingly bad and below average!

It’s a shame the overflow/dog-friendly section doesn’t carry the same energy. A refresh here to bring it in line with the main space would really elevate the overall experience. On arrival, we headed to the bar and waited to be served. A waitress passed by and acknowledged us, letting us know she’d be right back—then returned shortly after to greet us, which was appreciated. We asked if the venue was dog-friendly—yes, but only in the front section. The food menu offers classic pub favourites, pizza, and even pasta dishes you don’t often see outside of a traditional Italian restaurant, which was a nice touch for those after something a bit different. Our mains were freshly prepared, generously portioned, and presented to a good standard. Great find, the prices here are really reasonable. Other similar venues take the Mick with the prices of cocktails and meals etc... this venue doesn't The staff are engaging and friendly. The menu is varied and looks amazing.

I absolutely LOVE this place. The food is 10/10, the decor and atmosphere is beautiful and the staff are lovely! There is one waiter in particular who treats me and my boyfriend like VIP’s! Unfortunately we don’t know his name to give him credit, all we know is he’s Turkish, hilarious and so kind. Shout out to him! I could not recommend this place more.

We had afternoon tea here on a Sunday the food, service and views were amazing. We called back the following week for the roast beef dinner after seeing them, they didn't disappoint.

We got a very warm welcome with our dog. Certain areas are dog friendly. We ordered our food and drink. We chatted to the owner who was a lovely guy. The food was really good and a great vegetarian pasta dish for my husband. I would recommend. A brilliant view over the harbour and out to sea. The food was good value too. We had our wedding here at the quay taphouse on the 26th of august 2023 and was honestly one of the best days ever. The staff were absolutely amazing and helped the day to run so smoothly. We celebrated my Birthday with a trip to Preston Grange Miller and Carter. Ample parking, which is always a bonus. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our seats and informed that Charlotte would be our hostess for our meal. Charlotte promptly arrived and gave us menus and enquired whether there was any dietary requirements or allergies, an extremely important issue these days. We placed our starter orders of Salt and Peppered Squid and Baked Cheddar Mushrooms, together with our mains of Surf and Turf Fillet and Pork Tomahawk. Both starters arrived piping hot and were very much eagerly devoured, an excellent start, washed down with a nice pint of Neck Oil. I selected the Rich Red Wine sauce and signature butter topping to accompany my Fillet and Lobster, and the Spicy Burnt Chilli Onion dressing, both were absolutely delicious and worked extremely well together. The Tomahawk pork came cooked to perfection for my wife, melted in her mouth and so tasteful with the Red Wine sauce. During the meal, Charlotte was always in the vicinity and was extremely polite, engaging and very professional in her attitude, she is a valuable asset to the group. So to the dessert, Wow, We ordered the Crème Brûlée and Baked Cheesecake and what was brought to our table was a wonderful surprise, together with the Crème Brûlée, I was given a fantastic assortment of Desserts to celebrate my birthday courtesy of the Restaurant, I thanked Charlotte and asked that our thanks were extended to all involved. Overall, an absolutely wonderful dining experience and we will look forward in returning very soon, Thank you all for a excellent meal,

Absolutely horrendous experience this evening. Visitors to the area and decided to spend the evening in the beer garden. Walked in and joined the orderly queue at the bar. Several people got served in front of us, but when it got to my turn at the front of the queue several locals had come in, stood themselves at the bar, and the barmaid totally ignored me and walked off to serve the locals that she obviously knew well. The bar was empty when we joined the queue and we waited nearly 15 mins as it was, but to then be completely ghosted in favour of the locals was terrible. We walked straight out after making our feeling known to the said barmaid. It wasn’t as if everyone was stood haphazard at a busy bar. The queue was formed at the fill and she was well aware of the order of serving. It was a totally deliberate act to ignore me in favour of the regulars who had entered the bar area well after us. Made us feel very uncomfortable. Terrible way to work at a bar.

Our favourite local pub! Such a hidden gem. Great beer garden. Usually quiet but has a lovely atmosphere.

The chicken stuffed with chorizo & wrapped in bacon with a creamy sauce was absolutely beautiful. I would get a side order or chips aswell tho. Plus the beer garden out front is lush and can get hours of sunshine on the right day.

Ordered food to share and have half and half. Absolutely amazing! . Had a bottle of wine and a couple of pints between 2 of us. Chicken burger medium nandys style😂 with hone made chips (gorgeous) and chicken breast with cheese, chorizo and bacon (to die for) came to about 40 quid.

Andrew's pie is a must. Lovely pastry and interesting choice of fillings Not your standard pub steak & ale! Deserts nice and not over priced. Wines good value. Cask ale Maxim's. What's not to like.

They feel milder compared to the rich taste of lasagna. There’s a slight spiciness that’s almost imperceptible. The meatballs themselves are tasty, and the overall portion size is quite big. Just had lunch here, prices are a bit much for what you get, pretty mid food, worst part was coke glass coming with lipstick mark on my partner's drink and then my coke only having straw that was long enough to have half the drink so was pointless giving me one. Other places are better value and nicer food. Wouldn't go back unfortunately. Staff were pretty nice but was waiting around 10mins for someone to see our plates were empty and we needed the bill so had to get out my seat to go ask for it.

Think I’ve only ever had Frankie & Bennys once before years ago and wasn’t that great. But thought we’d try this one when I finished work. So happy we did! Was sooooo good! Staff were friendly and welcoming. Checked if we had any allergies. We got a pizza each and my son got a garlic bread, freshly made on sourdough 😍. We also got buffalo chicken loaded fries and they were to die for! Will definitely be back.

Popular dinning place in Eldon square, friendly staffs and decent portion size, good value for money. The lunch deals are great, although the quality of the food is not the best, one of my beef wraps is a bit cold, the cake was not what I imagined but was beautifully presented. Overall for the prize you pay, the portion and food is good.

Fabulous menu plenty to choose from. We had a party of 12 and the service was excellent considering the number, everyone served pretty much the same time. The venue is great, plenty of room no one squashed close together. Food delicious (forgot to get pics) and staff so friendly.

Brilliant place to head on the fish quay. It's cheap and cheerful with lovely staff who are happy to help. The food came out fast and very hot. Couldn't fault any of it! There's also big toilets available if you're taking kids and are worried about juggling them in tiny bathrooms. The place was quiet when we went but normally it's buzzing with people. Staff were all very friendly!

Called in last night with my wife for dinner for our anniversary and it was really good 3 courses each and 2 cokes for £50! Great value. My wife had a huge ribeye and I went for the Cajun parmo, absolutely amazing it was too. Really friendly service too. Highly recommend!

Absolutely brilliant place and the food was stupendous. I ordered the cajun steak pasta and was spicy bit too spicy but was delicious and finished the plate. The service was excellent and cheery. First time visiting but I will definitely be returning.

Ordered food via Uber Eats. Choice was brilliant and very reasonably priced. For the 4 of us, having 2 courses each, it was £60. The food was absolutely delicious and huge portions, my Squid starter with a tomato and chilli sauce is up there with the best squid ive ever had. My daughter's dessert was missing,so I called the restaurant and explained. They were very apologetic and not only delivered the missing dessert with 10 minutes, they also gave 2 extra dessert, which was a lovely gesture. Can't fault their customer service. I've eaten at this restaurant a few times but tonight was first time getting a delivery. Will definitely be buying again. One of the best delivery meals ever. Thank you Sambuca Percy Main x

Crazy, ordered on Uber waited 1:40 and no sign of the food even been made. I went down to get the money back and the manager said “all this for £20” Which I replied with “I have ordered something and you didn’t deliver so yes I will want my money back, I could of come in shouting I haven’t I’ve been respectful” He then said “if you came in shouting I would of took you round the back” I’m not an easily scared person at the best of times but the 4ft5” manager was not intimidating. Threatening customers is very low and you should be ashamed of yourself

I'm a big fan of the Sambuca chain being a regular at the Glass House one in Manor Walks Cramlington. However Percy Main serve the same delicious food but at better prices it is worth travelling the few extra miles to save a few quid. We will be back.

We visited early on Friday evening for a meal with my parents. We were welcomed to our table and ordered some poppadoms and pickle tray whilst we looked at the menu. This is our first visit since it was The Aramee and we were advised the chef is still the same of 20 years. The menus offered all the usual traditional dishes but also had a page and a half of Chefs special dishes. Many I had not tried before so this is good. We ordered the following dishes: Chicken dansak Keema chicken tikka Hadai murgh Dinaj puri lamb (this was hot!) And sides of: Aloo gobi Sag aloo Pilau rice Garlic naan Stuffed paratha We were absolutely stuffed and the food was so tasty. The men even managed to find room for a dessert …. This was a traditional dish which I can’t remember the name (similar to warmwd donut served with ice cream) The restaurant does not serve alcohol so we took our own. Total bill for 4 of us was just under £80 and we left a decent tip and the food and service was very good. Nice not to be rushed out of the door either. (Some restaurants only give you a table for 90 minutes and then have you out) I’d highly recommend and we will be back very soon to sample some more special dishes.

Yeah .. this is officially my favourite Indian restaurant in the UK. I have eaten here and got food from this venue about 4 times and absolutely positively never had a bad dish. Please make any excuse to get the coconut rice with your meal. It's unreal. I massively recommend this place, you won't be disappointed.. it's also bring your own booze. So you can roll in with a few bottles of your choice. Brilliant place.

Don’t be fooled by the interior, it may look a little out dated but the food is incredible and the staff are great. Amazing food for very reasonable prices. Would 100% go back again, and again!

Had some wonderful food here last night lamb Kathi gosht, chicken Shash lick, tarka dhal, and nan, service was excellent too by (mo) the waiter. Take your own drink too.its better than the Gulshan in Tynemouth and cheaper. Definitely return !!!

Aramee is a beautiful place, it is a hidden gem in North Shields. They serve amazing food and they are so polite and attentive. It is never super busy and so you are unlikely to not get a seat! I usually have honey chicken but the staff are more than happy to help you pronounce some of the harder words on the menu!

To update this review. We go to the Rajapur if it’s for take away or sit in probably once a month. It’s always bang on. The chicken tikka green bengol being our favourite. Good value, take your own booze and great food. A jewel in a North Shields which needs to use it or lose it. No point whinging about what has closed its doors and left if you never went. Great food. Long may it continue. Revisited the Rajapur (used to be Aramee) about a couple of weeks after it recency reopened. I was chuffed it did as Shields needs more restaurants. The food was good, my curry was really tasty and smokey with a depth of flavour I haven’t had in a while. It was spicy as hell so I’ll be toning it down next time. Staff were friendly but atmosphere wasn’t great as not many in. Need to use it or lose it! I will be back soon to show my support. Cheers

What a shame! Fish and chips is such a treat these days. Almost £25 for 2 portions. So you are expecting quality at this price. The chips were great and a good portion and tasted fresh. The fish was fresh but very small portions, skinny and quite greasy. I wouldn't go back at these prices . Such a shame when they could be great 😞

took my american friend here for his first ever fish and chips, had never been before but was pleasantly surprised at this og chip shop.

Only 3 people allowed in at 1 time, queue looks big but goes down fast. A must visit if at the beach in Cullercoats. Haddock fillet is only 30p difference to cod which is a bargain. If you like mushy peas, ask for them to put it on top as you get 5x more than in a pot. Amazing fresh fish n chips that are addictive. Best around by far.

Old and dated but still a great little chippy, I go once every other month to get food from here as it's close to my parents. Could do with a revamp but food isn't bad.

Last time we came here was October 24 and was very quiet. The fish was beautiful. This time May 31st 2025, a beautiful sunny day,there was a huge queue. I got fish and chips, my wife got a large sausage and curry sauce. Everything was ok apart from the fish. It was supposed to be a cod but very doubtful. It was overcooked,dry,very very thin, no chunky flakes. Couldn't chew it. Fish was over £9. Sorry but I'll never go back here - you're only as good as your last service.

This used to be a great chippy. Sadly it has gone terribly down hill. The chips were stale and cold and the batter on the fish was inch thick goo with a golden top. Absolutely inedible. We will not return here.

Last time (a few weeks ago) I bought chips they looked and tasted like they had been cooked much earlier: they were dark brown and tasteless. Reluctantly, went in today for chips for the family (only option in Cullercoats). This time asked how long ago had the chips been cooked and was told 5-10 mins earlier. Again they were dark brown, soft (a bit soggy) and tasteless so I think the chips had been sitting there for a lot longer than 5-10 mins. There were old chips and plastic bags on the counter. Again.. very disappointed ☹️

Popped in for lunch today, it was our local many years ago so going back was wonderful. The food was very good with generous proportions. The staff were all very nice and welcoming. Will definitely go back soon x

Went for Sunday lunch and was really disappointed... dry beef, roast potatoes and carrots were half cooked and cabbage was stringy. Loved the turnip, and although the mashed potato was smooth and buttery, you could order it by the slice as it was far from fluffy as would be expected. The side of Cauliflower Cheese tasted like a melted cheese spread ... Yorkshire pudding was not homemade but was lovely. Gravy forgettable. Would go back for other menu options and drinks, as it seems to be a friendly pub with great staff x

Went today for my daughter's birthday there was13 as a family and one baby mixed ages for children it was absolutely fantastic value for money and children well catered for.. Will certainly be going back there.. loved it.. and thank you

We booked late for Sunday dinner, yet The Sportsman Pub rearranged tables with a smile, brought water for our husky, and served towering plates of tender beef, seasonal veg, and legendary mashed potato. Stellar hospitality matched unbeatable portions and price…

From the moment we stepped inside, the rustic wood panelling, crackling fireplace, and soft Motown playlist set a cosy mood; staff whisked over menus, suggested the hazy IPA, and later surprised us with complimentary sticky toffee pudding because it was our anniversary, cementing The Sportsman Pub as our new celebration spot for years to come; how could we not return?

Fabulous service tonight at short notice, putting tables together to accommodate 6 of us. The staff were great & the food was exceptional . Definitely worth a visit 😊

Exterior belies the beautiful interior decor! The staff are wonderfully, warm, helpful and welcoming. The range of food is impressive. The quality, service and value for money are all 5-star. I only wish this was my local pub; I'd be supporting it at every opportunity. I'm already looking forward to a return visit at some point, and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone. Would 100% recommend this place to anyone. I got a Thai green chicken curry pie and it was to die for! My partner got a burger and chips and she also said it was very very good.

Popped in on the off chance for a table for four on a Sunday afternoon. Nothing was too much trouble. The staff were very attentive, polite, friendly and professional. The food was absolutely delicious and there was plenty of it! Two of us had the roast beef, one pork and one chicken. Plenty of fresh veggies and lots of meat. The two men also managed the Apple & rhubarb crumble with lashings of hot custard which they also thoroughly enjoyed! If I had to force myself to be picky and say something negative… it would be helpful if the larger ladies toilet had some grab rails fitted as disabled ladies would definitely find this helpful. The ladies comfort basket in the loo was a very nice, thoughtful touch.

As a result of attending the quiz held at the pub on a Monday evening we won a voucher for three tapas and a bottle of wine donated by the pub. When we used the voucher the food was brilliant and the staff friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back to try more of the tapas selection. By the way if you're interested the quiz starts at 20:00 and it's £1 per person to enter.

We tried this pub for the first time on Sunday 5th October. The service was excellent, as was the food, we both had the traditional Sunday roast, one chicken the other pork. They were both excellent, and lots of it. Also, the veg was not overcooked, as is sometimes the case in pubs, it was just right. We'll definitely be going again! Iain.

Incredible American style food, the chef knows his way around burgers and BBQ more than most in the North East! Service was also impeccable, fast, friendly, helpful. Especially with kids! Only downside was it was a bit grubby and sticky, just adds to the authentic burger/bbq experience though!

The restaurant has a very nice interior design with a rustic industrial look. The staff was very friendly and attentive and was able to answer all my questions about the menu. I ordered the King of Stacks for an unbeatable £17. That's 2 southern fried Chicken fillets, one covered in pulled Brisket and the other had pulled Pork on it. On top jalapenos and maple bacon. Included in the price was a generous portion of fries. The slightly smoky grill flavor and texture of the food was outstanding. The portion was so big that I couldn't finish it all. If you like grilled and smoked meat, this restaurant is absolutely recommended.

Nice pub with American style music. We ordered ribs today and were good but a bit of fat in it. Dinner for 2 cost us £45 with drinks so really good price. No empty tables at 3pm. After arriving at the restaurant, the staff told us to wait on the side because there were no table but after about 25 minutes we had to remind ourselves for a table because the two couples who came after us got tables right away. My overall rating is 4 out of 5

They have done something very clever here with the interior and the food lives up to the hype. Over ordered which is typical but all the dishes tasted fantastic and well worth it. Wine a little expensive and food could have been hotter, only criticisms. Very good night otherwise. Good music and staff really helpful. Doesn’t take American Express, has baby changing.

Thoroughly enjoyed our first visit a few month ago but when we returned, it was a bit of a let down. Sticky tables and menus, food shoved down by a male member of staff which was wrong without given an opportunity to resolve as he ran off. Sharing nachos were disappointing in taste and portion size but the burgers were good. Won’t be returning.

Had a few meals here - pizza, steak and Sunday lunch. Can't fault it - nothing fancy just good honest food. The staff are lovely and the place is decorated with industrial chic. The espresso martini is the best for miles Update - went tonight for the pig out special. A selected drink, selected main and side for £9. You can pay supplements to upgrade your meal. I was not really impressed as the quality of the food was not great. But for the price - what can you expect?? Hopefully it will be better next time 🙂

Food was delicious I had the ribs with maple bacon fries my husband had the meat platter with the pork and beef. The portions were very generous we were both stuffed. I had a cherry vanilla hardshake which was to die for. The staff were very friendly. We will definitely be returning.

Hands down, some of the best food I’ve had recently. The freshness of the ingredients and the unique flavors were unforgettable. After gaining fame (or infamy depending on which side you are on) for the Swedish rat burger, I had to come no matter what to show my support (for this business) and disdain (for that useless rat). The bar is very cosy and the servers were very friendly. Even though the rat burger was no longer available, they have this value set where you have potato skins/ salad with your choice of pizza and coffee or ice cream for a grand total of only 9.99 pounds. I chose the meat feast version for another 2 pounds more. I never knew potato skins could taste this good. The pizza was tasty and the crust was thin and soft. A very fitting meal to end my trip in Newcastle . Lots of love all the way from Singapore. Hope I will have a chance to come again 😄

Probably the best lunch that we have had in a long time. Nachos, Mac and cheese and the special Mac and cheese (which I had) and was was so very tasty. Great value for money. Reasonable selection of wines and beers. Really nice and helpful staff. Cocktail deal - 2 cocktails for £10 Baby changing and high chairs. Takes American Express.

We ordered takeaway via uber eats I had the Chilli Cheese Burger and my other half had the Katsu Curry. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals and would highly recommend them. "Update" we have just called in for lunch the food, drinks and service were amazing 👏

Absolutely lovely Chinese food and we’ve tried many!👌 After a slight problem last week, I rang up just to advise and the lady who answered the phone was extremely helpful and said that we could have the next meal without charge. We had that meal this evening which consisted of battered chicken balls, rice, chips and curry sauce with some complimentary prawn crackers! Nothing to disappoint!!!😋 Everything was cooked perfectly, and the battered chicken was the best we’ve tasted to date!😋👌 We would highly recommend this takeaway and will be ordering food from here again, for sure 👍 Well done 👏

Hard to rate a takeaway for atmosphere, but the staff are very helpful and friendly. Great food cooked to order. Unfortunately it’s on a main road close to traffic lights, however, I’m yet to struggle to pick up an order I phoned in.

Me and my bro had a takeaway last night after a few pints at the Spring Gardens both places was jumping and both had a fantastic atmosphere. I had House Special Curry with Fried Rice and Chips, bro had House Special Egg Foo Yung with Fried Rice and Chips, both meals had reached our greatest expectations and the lady who was serving was very pleasant and friendly. I have been a customer at this restaurant ever since it opened in the early 1990's, and wouldn't go anywhere else. The food is of exceptionally high quality, and there is a wide and varied menu with dishes not normally served in other establishments. No other Chinese restaurant in the area can match this one. I hope to continue enjoying my meals from there for many more years.

Been going here for years and has been great. But this time really horrible. House special curry had no meat in it and salt and chilli chicken was tough as old boot's. Also was told 45min to an hour for a delivery but was more than an hour and a half, ....2and a half hours the last time.... Not good enough!!! .. won't be using this place again. And the owner didn't want to know.
