Wowowowowowow, this place is unreal. Get there 2 hours before high-tide and stay 2 hours after. I cycled here, and no one else was anywhere in sight. Just many many beautiful right whales. 🐋
Perfect place for watching whales! There are hundreds of whales right now. Amazing experience. There is also a cave which you can explore when water is low
Wonderful beach inviting for a nice walk.
Despite what everyone says, this is not the beach that the whales come really close to - that's the next beach down the road, Playa Las Canteras. The bluff between the two beaches also has viewing areas that are debatably just as good, since although you're slightly farther away, you have a nice overhead view. To get to the viewpoints and Playa Las Canteras, the road is gravel, but well-maintained (no 4WD required).
Great place for whale watching, you will need a car ride, but its worth... in whale season you will see whales from the beach

If you want to see sea lions near Puerto Madryn then this is the right place.Along with the sea lions you can also spot the different flora and fauna of Patagonia. I saw shags , rodents and foxes as well. This place is easily reachable by motorcycle, car or bicycle from the city. For me spotting the Sea lions were magnificent but you need to spend some time here to see other animals .Also be careful of Patagonian winds as this place is on top of a hill so expect wind speed more than usual.
This place was advertised as the largest colony of sea lions where you could get up close to the animals. Not true; after almost an hour's drive, part of which on an unpaved dirt road, we got to a cove where, deep down there was a small colony of sealions (a scant 50-100) sunbathing. Seen it, done it, not worth repeating
We got there right before closing so the sun was in our eyes and photographs were near impossible but the sea lions were still amazingly cute to watch. The babies are adorable - watching them bounce in and out of the water. They look like they are having so much fun. It’s close to down - the last few k are gravel roads. Worth going to.
Nice up close view of sea lions on a caleta. Free of charge. Worth a visit if you are in Madryn and have a couple of hours.
The zone offers different ways to watch sea wolfs in their natural environment (as it should be) but I would suggest this one as the best because of two reasons: 1. It's close to Madryn city. 2. Great view of the sea wolfs, closest that other places.
Great experience, beautiful view with a lot of nature, very windy also.
Great place and great attention from the park ranger
Sea lion and cormorant colony, very close and accessible to Puerto Madryn, good info on animal behaviour and environment provided. Small but very enjoyable.

Very educational exhibits and amazing sensory rooms where you feel you are under water with the whales. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Cost may be a bit much for what there is but it is going towards a good organization.
It is an educational place if you would like to know the ocean ecosystems and lives.
An interesting centre, with an interesting way of portraying whales. However, almost all signage is in Spanish. The centre provides a QR code to access English text and even provides internet in the centre. However, in spite of help from the staff, our connections (on 3 phones) kept dropping and we gave up on getting any English information. Sad, given that there was a lot to understand and that there is a simple low-tech solution—providing a paper copy of the information. They could be plastic-covered sheets that would be returned at the end of the visit.
I really enjoyed this place and the nearby beach!
We were wating until 16:50 and it didnt open and there are no note or anything
Great experience and well made tour
Its my happy place, if you come to Madryn you have to go there, they have a simulation of how it would be the underwater sounds of whales and a very good view of the beach
The most special to me was to see the live animals in the little aquarium they have. The staff that was there to teach us a bit and answer questions about the animals was really good. There was an documentary at 7pm that lasted until 7:40pm - it lacks English subtitles and if you watch it all you might not have time enough to see the museum without hurrying up as the museum closes at 9pm and there are long texts to read and videos to watch. The view from the top and outside are beautiful.

Excellent and helpful staff who spoke good English, gave very detailed and helpful hints for visiting the Island. This place has a observation tower and exhibition rooms. Essentially a very clean toilet.
Great info before heading into the park to see some beautiful scenery and wildlife!
Nice place to go when you're visiting Peninsula Valdez, guides are really kind, and they will give you a lot of information about wales and other water mammals.
Undoubtedly the best public restrooms in Patagonia, and it's the prelude to see all the fauna of the place
I do not recommend coming to this park in June. We've been traveling for months and this is one of the biggest scams. A real shame. You have to pay before accessing the information center where we learn that you pay an access fee but that they can close the roads. So we paid an exorbitant price for entry to not be able to visit anything, it's just a big joke. the payment point should be well after the crossing point which may be closed because the tourist should be informed beforehand. But obviously it is profitable to charge for access to Puerto Piramides. At the slightest bit of rain everything is closed. I highly recommend taking a whale watching tour in Puerto Madryn and not Puerto Piramides at this time. Because in the end you will pay for an excursion then a rental, then an entrance fee to go to Puerto Piramides, which is ridiculous when the entire park is closed. And the entry money clearly does not go to road maintenance.
Useful information, all the information you need to know about the area. They are also very helpful in any inquires or if your looking for suggestions. Our car broke down and they helped us out with getting a tow truck and trying to find a ride for the rest our crew.
Extensive information center for the Valdes peninsula. Overview of all animals living here, including a whale skeleton.
Great museum at the entrance to the sanctuary. It takes over an hour to get to this point from Puerto Madryn. From here to the penguins, elephant seals, and sea lions it is on a dirt road for maybe 30-45 mins.

Good place to spend your evening with your freinds and family and sip mate or coffee. You can also see whales at a distance in a clear day from here. I would recommend this place for a nice walk if you are in Puerto Madryn
This monument was erected in remembrance of the original native indians of Puerto Madryn, now all gone and replaced by the descendants of European settlers
Windy with a nice view
easy flat walk to get to from town, nice views of the coast. small beach just down from the statue with lovely clear waters (beware the jellyfish!)
They obliterated them all and then raised monuments… 😵‍💫

Beautiful to learn about the animals and the human history in Patagonia. Very special to learn more about the consequences of what we humans do to our fellow nature buddies. Totally recommended as we all should learn more and reduce our personal impacts on the environment.
Nice museum with interesting stories. Free entrance
A wonderful museum to visit in Puerto Madryn!
An excellent and interesting museum which we visited during our brief stay from NCL Star. The staff were very friendly and helpful - and their English was much better than my Espanol !! Great views from the top.
Free admission, Beautiful building,it is a close walk from the waterfront, you can take the stairs to the top of the tower to give you a view of the city and bay. I would recommend that you visit they have a guide book in English
Nice visit if you are in the area, with a feature of all the inhabitants of the peninsula, humans, fauna and flora.

One of the best place to watch whales close by.Thanks to the people of Argentina that they respect the rules here. It is a must visit place for the whale watchers in a quite and seren place. The playa is wide and gives you a nice opportunity to see the magnificent water creature from just 20 meters. Sometimes it is very windy here , as usual in Patagonia but his place worth a visit if you don’t have to much of money to go in a national park or take expensive excursions to see the whales 😊
During wales season is the best place to watch them closer to the shore. It is free and is and amazing experience
Not an ordinary beach. Nice sea creatures and very fun to watch. need a car or taxi to get there.
Free beach to watch the wales really close , amazing experience 👌 👏 🙌
100% guaranteed to see whales (especially at low tide) and a beautiful location as well.
Best free place to go and see the whales. You can take a taxi or release from Puerto Madre. No dogs no drones permitted.
Ideal to see the whales from August to October, just from the beach. As a plus, the landscape is great!

Delicious lamb served on a sizzling coal platter with a free refill! House wine was great and the flan was amazing. Hundreds of penguins everywhere you looked in their nests, an incredible experience. Only negative is that sheep are still permitted to graze on the nesting sites reducing the foliage available for the nesting penguins. Would like to see better protection of the penguin habitats.
Reserva Natural Estancia San Lorenzo is a stunning spot near Puerto Madryn, famous for its Magellanic penguin colony. Walking among thousands of penguins in their natural habitat is unforgettable, and the guided tours provide fascinating insights without disturbing the wildlife. The scenery is beautiful, with ocean views and rugged Patagonian landscapes. It feels authentic and well-protected. A must-visit for nature lovers and photographers looking for a unique wildlife experience.
This place is amazing, the location, the raw nature of Patagonia and the number of penguins is breathtaking. The lodge offers lunch and dinner services. Keep in mind the last portion of the road is not in great shape, don't speed above 20 kmh and keep an eye on wild animals
A lifetime peak experience. This is a colony of six hundred thousand penguins, with trails for humans to walk among them - you can literally be inches away (just don't touch!). Our guide, Sebastien, was masterful, leading a small group of four for about two hours of slow paced, flat land walk. He provided extensive details, in English and Spanish, about penguin behavior, life cycle, and the ongoing threats from environmental destruction due to deregulation leading to increased fishing and a planned nearby oil facility. Someone get this guy a TV show! This colony may not exist much longer because of those threats. This was an absolutely exceptional experience. I recommend it to anyone. The cost was about $60 USD/70000 ARS per person, in addition to the punta Valdes entrance fee. Call ahead to confirm tour times - it was 2pm-4pm the day we visited. This reserve is about 90 minutes drive on gravel roads from the Valdes entrance - our little Citroen did just fine. Be careful to watch the road signs, you might miss the turn off to this reserve and end up at punta Norte, which is nice enough but does not have any penguins. There is a cafe on site with sandwiches, charcuterie, and beer and wine. We went on Christmas day, and there was very little crowd.
The staff is unfriendly. We wanted to have lunch in the restaurant but the staff told us that we could do that after the excursion. When we returned from the excursion the restaurant was closed and they talked to us in unfriendly manner. Don’t recommend visiting because of the bad treatment of the guests
The place is amazing, but I would recommend being a bit more responsive on WhatsApp and a bit clearer with the lunch - post that hours are limited since it is not clear. The place itself is great, it’s the org part that’s very hard. The WhatsApp is unresponsive, I ended up getting tickets reserved through a travel agent.
Eat some of the most delicious barbecued lamb ever. It is spatchcocked then leant at a 45 degree angle facing the open log fire to be cooked first on one side then the other before being roughly carved. Then it is served in a big dish to be enjoyed by six people at a shared table. Lunch is not only the lamb but also with local garlic sausage, cheese, bread and delicious minced lamb panatas. The whole meal finished off by a homemade dulce de leche flan. The meal can be washed down with a good Argentinian red wine and other choices are available for those not into wine. If you are given the chance to eat here after penguin watching - take the opportunity of an unforgettable meal in an unforgettable location
Best place around Peninsula Valdes to observe penguins - much better than in Caleta Valdes. Hear you can walk between them rather than just observe them from behind a fence. Definately worth the price. You should better reserve the tour beforehand. The cost of a basic trip for foreigners did cost 1800 Argentinian Pesos in January 2019.

Just visited this place while on a tour from our cruise ship. Everything looked nice and clean. We went by mini bus to Punta Luma reserve to see the Sea Lions. There was lots of both adults and pups.
Helpful patient service, with a nice place to sit outside and drink a cervesa....or two....or three.
Toured to see sea lions. Next time, I'll take the 8 hour penguin tour.
Being binoculars! In July I saw a few Wright whales and Orcas even, but mostly only with binoculars
Beware of the Red Jacket tour sellers at the pier entrance. Prices are good but make sure you know what you’re buying. We got an absolutely laughable “tour” of the aluminum plant. Nothing was mentioned of the senseless tour of the city or the aluminum plant.
Clean and safe pier with a free shuttle to the main road that operates every few minutes when a cruise ship is in port. However the shuttle doesn't get to the ships when the tour buses are going out.
Great location but actually returning to the ship on a coach took an hour and we were not allowed to exit the coach and visit the nearby towns, security came on board to check our cruise passes and left us waitin. Means we missed any chance to spend money in the city. If we had not booked an excursion it was a short walk to town
Lots of villages and nice shops.

what a fascinating museum about the Welsh settlers arriving in Puerto Madryn and their lives in the Chubut Valley. The guide showed me around the exhibits and was very knowledgeable and a fluent welsh speaker- amazing!

The explanations on each object, along with photos and models, were very clear. It was all very interesting to learn a little about how these Welsh people, who have become part of our country, came to be. It's great to know that they reached a peaceful coexistence with the Tehuelches. (Translated by Google) The visit to the museum was one of the most valuable things I took away from this trip. Beyond visiting the local fauna, I thought it was very important to learn a little more about the history of the city and the Welsh settlers, and the museum was almost mandatory. I visited on Monday and met Eduardo, who knows a lot about the landing, the immigrants from the region, and the Welsh language. We also chatted a bit about our experiences traveling through Wales. The museum has an unbeatable location, above Punta Cuevas, which allows for a visit both inside and outside the space, which makes it more immersive, allowing you to understand the conditions in which these settlers lived in their early days before moving to the valley. The museum is very nice, everything is very well explained, and there is a guide to listen to as well. There are also some movies you can request to be shown if you're interested, so I recommend going ahead of time!

I went twice, but I didn't get there once, as I arrived a little late. So the next day, I didn't have to pay admission again. Excellent place and very well-staffed staff. Great place to see the Sealions. We saw so many adults and pups, relaxing on the beach plus swimming in the cove. Its about an hours drive from the town but worth the drive.
Stunning place. Really recommend it.
Puerto Madryn is stunning. One of the highlights of my trip. I wished I had more days to enjoy.
In cre i ble...!!
Small but very informative.
Amazing place where the first Welsh settlers struggled to survive before they moved South to start farming.
Beautiful view of the harbor

Collection of minerals and fossils from Patagonia as well as a selection of art items made of them including jewelry, animals, masks, etc. Some of them are very beautiful. Not allowed to make photos unfortunately. The owner has been building the collection for 35 years. Quite impressive.
It was a fun spot, I just wish I had enough cash to buy the things I wanted since they didn't take credit cards for the sales side, and it was a bit dissapointing I couldn't take pictures of the displays to show my wife who was on her own excursion.
I went to this secluded place (outside the tourist circuit of Puerto Madryn), with dirt streets, to buy some souvenirs, but I found that the prices were several times those that are sold in the commercial tourist area (which, by the way, was much closer to the hotel): since I didn't buy anything, I was asked for a contribution for the upkeep of the place. A disappointment, and not worth wasting time there

(Translated by Google) We went an hour before heading to the airport. I would have liked to stay and look around a bit longer, but we didn't have time. It's a school that rescues children and teaches them a trade. The gentleman who explained everything they do was very kind; we hope they can continue. Admission is free.

it has an amazing location and close to the caves. did not sleep there but i enjoy the views
worst cruise ever, we saw no dolphin nothing, but spend 4 hours on a boat. Such a waste of time. Crew was not helpful no appology, no refund what so ever
(Translated by Google) Great ride, delivers as promised. Walk through the gulf, Punta Loma observing the sea lions and then go in search of dusky dolphins. The crew is very friendly and informs you everything about the fauna that is observed. The very comfortable semi-rigid with a large bathroom on board. I don't give it 5 stars because the owner reluctantly attends, collects the money and leaves with a very bad face. If you could give us a smile and good attention to the people who feed you, it would be ideal 😜 (Original) El paseo genial, cumple con lo prometido.
(Translated by Google) Everything was beautiful!!!!! Very good. Perfect day. Millions of dolphins, wolves and the sunken ship was obviously just one. But of 10 Fernando and Carla (Original) Fue hermoso todo!!!!!!
(Translated by Google) The staff was very friendly and explained everything in detail and with good disposition. The walk is very interesting and the view of the sea lions is a beautiful experience. However, I must mention that they do not allow payment by debit card even though they have a sign posted that says its reception is mandatory. If it weren't for that, I would give them five stars.

Beautiful little Port! Lovely people,!
Not very nice. But pretty good views
Beautiful views from this location.
