umbrellas at €15 per set. it’s a very nice beach with spectacular view. Very good restaurants. good bars with excellent coffee. You can find free parking until 9 o’clock after that you have two or three private parking spots and after that you can park on the road, but it’s quite a walk to the beach.
Very pretty on the eye. Sunbeds starts at €12. North side it's more stony other slightly better. Lunch was nice. It's quite a busy beach when we expect to be secluded. But yes it's pretty...
Amazing beach but need to check the wind before you go as the waves can be very dangerous! We all swim a lot but the day we went it had wind and the waves were crazy even if you were standing outside!! Otherwise the beach is amazing and the sea deepens fast!
Beautiful beach, especially for sunset. Waves can get pretty rough with ripcurrents in some spots, but the waves are fun. Nice couple of restaurants. Beautiful views driving in and out of the coastline.
Absolutely stunning beach with crystal clear waters and a beautiful mix of white pebbles and soft sand. Perfect for swimming, relaxing, and soaking up the natural beauty—pure bliss!
Petani Beach is a beautiful spot with stunning sunset views. The water is an incredible shade of blue. There are some rocks in the water, so water shoes might be helpful. The beach is equipped with sunbeds (around €12–15), but there are also free areas where you can lay your towel directly on the sand. We highly recommend exploring the far right side of the beach. Tucked away there is a secluded, wild little cove framed by dramatic cliffs — a hidden gem that makes you feel like you have the beach entirely to yourself. The water in this area was so crystal clear and inviting that we didn’t want to leave.
Very beautiful place, it has a combination of white pebbles and soft sand. The water is crystal clear. The beach bar has great food. You can park for free on the side of the road and then walk for 5-10 minutes. A set of 2 sunbeds & umbrella is 15€.
To me, this is the most beautiful beach on the island. It's stunning both in the morning and worth staying in the afternoon to watch the sunset. The water is crystal clear, even in the evening. Great for snorkeling. The beach is covered with fine, shiny pebbles. There are a few cafés, but also plenty of free space. A perfect 10 from me.

A quiet little bay, that will allow you to rest and recharge your batteries. The beach is sandy and has a taverna that you can rent sun beds from, drink and eat smth, but there is also a big part where you can just put your own umbrella, chair or towel. Try this out when and if you are in for a relaxing day
Nice beach, lovely looking Taverna, very rustic and pleasing to the eye. However, the service & food was poor. Service was slow and half hearted, we asked for 4 bottles of water, received 3 but ended up paying for 4. Three of us had fish costing €50, we ordered a large Feast salad €12.50 to go with this, we were told the salad was off the menu as they were short of ingredients. We had cucumber & tomatoes which were charged at €12.50. The fish tasted nice but it came cold. The fried potatoes & zucchini were good. I feel unable to recommend this eatery.
Used to be very good but now biftekaki not so good and fish overcooked🐪
(Translated by Google) What a lovely sandy beach, beautiful soft sunbeds. An oasis of peace. Friendly service, delicious dishes for a reasonable price. We couldn't find a nicer beach on the entire island of Kefalonia. Highly recommended.

(Translated by Google) A quiet beach, but you won't find the color of the water that Kefalonia is visited for. Instead, it is unique in that the river flows into the sea right next to the beach and the food is very good at the restaurant on the beach. It is suitable for those looking for a sandy beach.

Lovely sandy beach. Great for families & couples too. Loverly clear water. Bar/cafe on the beach. Sunbeds were €10 in August. If you are staying in Lixouri it’s a 35 min easy walk.
Sandy beach with crystal clear water. Be careful, fishes can bite.
The main part at the begining is crowded, but you have a sunbeds and tavern here. I preffered the other end of the beach where I was alone and have a shadow under a big palm tree. The swimming is not good here, as water is shalow and full of corals.
Nice sandy beach 15 min by car south of Lixouri. Cosy tavern with fresh seafood and refreshments.
Nice and quiet beach. I would say one of the nicest in Kefalonia. Partly with sunbeds and nice tavern. There is also a lot of space where you can sit with your own umbrella and towel.
interesting beach closest to Lixouri but nothing special. Red sand out and in the water, pleasant for feet. Colour of water is more brown than blue. The Beach should be cleaned more often. There is sand wolleyball court. There is easy access for cars and parking. It is easy to access the beach in the wheelchair, and there is lift for disabled and older people to enter the water. Also there is changing cabin for disabled. There is also regular changing cabin and shower on the beach. There is small restaurant with drinks and food. Two sunbads and parasol set cost 7€.
Lovely sandy beach with sunbeds and umbrellas. There is also a volley court and a nice tavern.
Really lovely beach with nice snack shop and cafe. Umbrellas and chairs cost €7 in June but may be free earlier in the season

The beach with fine sand with a brick color One of the beaches with brick sand on the south-western part of Kefalonia It lies on a large surface, the entrance to the water is smooth There is free parking, there are two locations to the left and to the right of the access to the parking area, a bar with a few sunbeds 15 euro / day and a restaurant where you can have lunch and there you will find sunbeds. There is also a shower
Paralia Megas Lakkos is a surprisingly beautiful beach, distinguished by its warm, copper-colored sand. We chose this beach over the more famous Xi Beach, which was much more crowded. In fact, the two beaches are neighbors and share the same distinctive sand, but Megas Lakkos offers a much more peaceful and spacious setting. After visiting numerous beaches—many stunning but covered in pebbles—our feet were grateful for the soft sand and the gentle, gradual entrance into the sea. The water was incredibly calm, perfect for swimming and relaxing, and the view from above revealed a breathtaking mix of turquoise and copper tones. The beach is equipped with sunbeds and a modest beach bar, where you’ll find everything you need for a comfortable stay — from cold drinks and snacks to a refreshing cocktail to enjoy by the sea. Altogether, a quiet and unexpectedly charming beach that’s well worth discovering.
The beach is a must. The reddish/brown sandy beach is unique. Everything is sand; in the water there is just a little gravel and then sand again, and under a thin layer of sand there is clay (in the water). You can walk far into the water because it only gets deep later. It’s huge, so there’s plenty of space to find a quiet spot. Parking is free, but you should get there as early as possible or in the late afternoon. There’s a bar with sun loungers; otherwise, everything is free. There’s also a restaurant next to the parking lot. Additionally, there are turtle nests here. If you’re lucky, one might hatch in the evening. The chances for that are greatest between 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm. After that, it’s forbidden to be on the beach (as far as I know) so as not to disturb the baby turtles or accidentally step on one. We weren’t lucky enough to see any. Still, a beautiful beach.
Wonderful beach with orange/bronzeish sand, amazing smooth sand and not to deep sea entrance! The sunbeds are 12€
Relaxed beach with clay and red sand This beach has a calm, laid-back atmosphere. There are a few sunbeds available, but also enough space if you bring your own umbrella and towel. The red sand can get quite hot during the day, so sandals help. A unique feature is the natural grey clay along the cliffs, which some people apply to their skin like a spa treatment. It’s said to be rich in minerals—just apply, let it dry for 10–15 minutes, then rinse off (as long as you’re not allergic). The clay makes the water less clear than at other beaches, and the shoreline can get slippery. If you walk a bit, you might spot protected turtle nests—nice to see, but of course, don’t touch. There are a couple of nearby beach cafés and restaurants, and facilities like a shower and changing room are available. Overall, a pleasant beach with some interesting features. Not the most picturesque spot, but worth a visit if you’re nearby. The Oasis restaurant close by is also a good option.
A wider and not that crowded beach as Xi (Megas Lakkos is actually the eastern part of Xi). It had two beach bars quite crowded and expensive with their lot of umbrellas almost near the water. But if you will pass the beach bar from the left side (considering the entrance from parking) you will get to a wider and less crowded beach, with amazing sand and nice calm waters. We enjoyed our visit to this beach, the special clay sand is a must to experience. We were there mid August.
Long beach with perfect sand. Comfortable. Always room for everybody to have their private space. Water is very clear and the depth is slowly increasing so it is perfect for swimming. It is also very nice to walk all the way to Xi beach. There are nests of sea turtles so please do not destroy it.
Megas Lakkos Beach is a hidden gem that offers a unique and unforgettable experience. With its stretches of red sandy shores and crystal-clear waters, the beach's beauty is undeniable. What makes this beach especially appealing is its child-friendly nature; the shallow waters extend for quite a distance, making it ideal for young ones to safely explore. The entire coastline is composed of clay, inviting visitors to indulge in the fun of natural mud baths using the clay. The beach is not only a haven for relaxation but also a playground for various activities. From building sandcastles to engaging in beach volleyball or even bringing along rackets for a game, there's something for everyone. The beach boasts both untouched natural stretches and areas where you can rent umbrellas, with prices ranging from 7 to 12 euros depending on the location. A highlight that truly sets Megas Lakkos Beach apart is the rare opportunity to witness the hatching of loggerhead sea turtles, known as caretta caretta. This incredible spectacle adds a layer of wonder and natural beauty to the experience, making a visit to this beach a truly unparalleled adventure

Beautiful Breathtaking views of the coast. The Monastery was open and was very Beautiful. There was a Spiritual feeling while in the Church. Beautiful Greek Orthodox Icons which were very old. I would have Loved to attend Liturgy services. There is no fee.
The monastery was closed when we visited. The view from the yard is nothing amazing, but luckily we brought our drone. Thia is honedtly the best place for aerial photography on the west side of the island. The drive from Lixouri port up here on the mountain was amazing too. Definitely this is a gem of Kefalonia leaser known to the world.
Spiritual and worth only a short stop to pray if you feel like it. The building is on a reconstruction process. Lovely yard and a cold glass of water ♥️
The Monastery wasn’t open when I arrived. From the outside I couldn’t get an idea how it will be inside. The road to the monastery is beautiful.
Nice place but there are many nicer places in Kefalonia. It is worth stopping there only if you are in the area. It is not worth going there specifically.
It doesn't have any artistical, cultural, historical value. It's a new construction, still in progress. It's really nothing worthi of you time and gas. Even the painting on the altar are reproduction.
It's a helluva drive to get here. It's beautiful and the views are to die for but for us the monastery was closed. This is the reason for the 3 stars. As there was nothing to do
Very nice spot at sunset, overlooking the ocean!

A must see in Kefalonia. Gerasimos, Sissy and Simon were lovely, the boat was beautiful, clean, and scenic. Food cooked was so delicious and fresh. Would recommend to anyone visiting the island, a once in a lifetime experience!
Such an incredible experience, cannot recommend this enough. We got to see how they bring in the net and catch fish. The entire experience was incredible. We had a fantastic catch the day we went out and it was expertly prepared by the crew. The food they prepared was fantastic, some of the highest quality and freshest fish I've ever had. 10/10 experience
We had a wonderful day on this lovely traditional boat with Gerasimos and Sissy. They were so friendly and obviously take great pride in doing a good job, explaining their methods and telling us about what was caught, letting us get involved in taking the huge prawns from the nets. Sissy prepared so much delicious food and went out of her way to ensure there were plenty of coeliac suitable gluten free options for us - not easy i'm sure in the tiny boat kitchen! Thanks to the team, we highly recommend!
Most wonderful experience in kefalonia! Sissy, Gerasimos and Simon are amazing guides and very knowledgeable about fishing and everything around it. The fish is cooked to perfection, the atmosphere is amazing. Defenitely recommend!
If you’re in Lixouri, this is a must to try! We had a blast and this made our vacation even better. From learning about fishing to swimming near the islands, great experience!
We had an absolutely amazing boat trip! The crew was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The fresh fish we caught was prepared to perfection, and in between, we were treated to lots of delicious little bites, all made with so much care and love. The two swimming stops were stunning. With only 8 people on board, it felt intimate and relaxed, never crowded. This was one of the most authentic experiences we had in Kefalonia and definitely one of the best days of our stay. We would definitely book this trip again. Thank you very much!
The Poseidon Fishing Trip was the highlight of our holiday in Cephalonia. On a small, authentic fishing boat with Sissy, her father, and Simon, we helped with the nets, learned about the fish and the island, swam at two stunning beaches, and enjoyed the freshest, most delicious meal straight from the sea. A truly unforgettable day with the loveliest people!
Wherever you are staying in Kefalonia this trip is a must. The most friendliest family Gerasimos, Sissy and Simon were lovely & friend Makis too was very informative. Gerasimos told fantastic fishing stories he had encountered in his lifetime. The boat was beautiful, clean, and the trip very scenic & the swimming very refreshing. The fresh fish caught earlier, Sissy cooked with love & passion ( aswell as other freshly prepared food) & it was absolutely delicious. Would extremely recommend anyone visiting the island, to go and meet this lovely family for a trip of a lifetime. I would do it all again if I wasn't going home 🥹 - Thank you

The perfect place to spend a nice day at Xi Beach. Great service, food and drinks. We had a great time and will come again. 100+++ recommendations
This place is great if, like us, in your mind you’re still a towel on the beach sort of person, but in reality you’ve outgrown that a bit (or a lot!). Set above the beach there’s a choice of sun beds in sun or shade, or easy chairs and tables, with steps down to the beach and a swift scurry across hot sand to the sea. Great views. Very attentive service. The food is beach bar food and rated as such. Burgers are excellent. The value is brilliant. The sun beds are free if you spend £30 on food and drink. A couple of large beers, a couple of coffees and a shared main meal. Highly recommended
Brilliant place for late night drinks. Lovely family run bar that made us feel very welcome. Would highly recommend
Tasty burgers & pita club, nice music, great view, very helpful waiters. In sum, all good !
If you want to have desserts in form of cocktails come here. If you want to experience the kind of cocktails you've never imagined seeing before come here. Bartender actually knows how to do REAL cocktails. I came here with my wife to have one drink each and ended up having so many more just to taste them all. Service and atmospehere was just off the roof. I cant pressure the cocktails. You don't come here to have beer or wine have a cocktail when you feel that you deserve to have a vacation in style.
The place was amazing although the service was awful extremely slow and they forgot about us more than two times that we called them. The food was decent and our drinks were just fine. I think that they should inform their servers and help them improve.
My worst experience in Cefalonia, they seem to hate you when you speak with them. The food is expensive and really not good. The only thing which saves this place is the beautiful location, but I suggest you to eat somewhere else on the beach.
Horrible experience. When you arrive you don't feel welcomed. The sandwich was too dry, food not well cooked, beer too warm and drinks not served in a proper way. The staff don't care about it. Never again.

MUSEUM OF HISTORY AND FOLKLORE The museum is housed on the ground floor of the imposing palace which belonged to the Korgialenio library in Argostoli. The museum was founded in 1962 by Eleni M. Kosmetatou and opened to the public in 1966, thanks to a grant of Evangelos Basias. Although the museum exists only since 37 years, it has always been a cultural institution, carried out by competent and efficient staff. The archival material of the museum covers the history of Kefalonia island from the beginning of the fifteenth century until 1848; the museum has the mission to keep alive the memory of how Kefalonia was before the terrible earthquake of 1953. Among the numerous exhibits there are documents, pictures, collections of personal items belonging to people from the past, porcelain and brass. In the museum there are also tools of farm life, maps, lithographs, watercolors, religious accessories and a collection of over 3000 photographs and 500 books.
Very nice ,well organized and centrally located library. Has a lot of history books that relate to the life of the island through the years.
a huge collection of very important books, you will be surprised to find . with the low amount of 10€ the membership card will be issue and you can borrow books as often and as many you wish during a year period, rare editions or collections are available for reading in the Library only.Free wi-fi available as well.
Great historical and cultural archives which include rare editions of books about Greece and Kefalonia.
Always nice to see a well-stocked public library, especially on the islands. Kudos to you.
Quite big. There is a big collection of books on Greek literature and poetry. Events are sometimes held there.
Very nice building with new features and a huge variety of books

Small aquarium but has nice selection of local sea life. Also displays and videos about ship wrecks around the island including a British submarine. Free to enter too.
We never visited the aquarium because we tried twice and both time it was closed. We tried once at 11.30h and once at 1815h. We came all the way from Argostoli and our child was very disappointed. Please make sure that opening hours is correct on Google or easy to find on the website.
Small but very nice experience... And for free In the aquarium it is possible to see octopus and other interesting species
Brilliant place .. and free. Nice place to get away from the midday sun and watch a few marine creatures … also tells the history of some wrecks in the Ionian Sea …
It is free. Few interesting sea animals.
Excellent tour of a small but interesting aquarium, with 5 small tanks and one big with many types of sea creatures, driven by the best guide, Georgia, a young and beautiful lady, passioned of the sea creatures, of observing them, feed them, taking care of them. She knows and share with willingness everything about all creatures in the aquarium, their behavior, the danger that we need to pay attention when we cross them in the sea. She even chose to feed them during our visit, so we can see their reaction❤️! We were there around 14h00, the entrance is free. Highly recommend!
Just made my second visit here with my partner and great to see the large tank in use now. The visit is made all the better for spending time with Georgia who has the most amazing knowledge of the fish. Her guided tour is five star and we learnt so much more. I don’t think I’ve met anyone so passionate about marine life and conservation. It’s good to see how the fish are cared for in captivity but also released back into the sea when they outgrow the aquarium, such as the octopus we saw last time but now swimming happily in the open sea. Thank you Georgia (from the spider man 😂)
Fantastic that the aquarium is free and there are some interesting videos and models of (eg) HMS. Perseaus. Staff very friendly. The display tanks for an Aquarium are fairly limited. Not expecting shark tanks or anything in Kefalonia but feel like when thete has been a whole effort to put a display together there could be more fish / info on display. It is free so its nice to visit
