An amazing place for kids and families, offering a perfect blend of wildlife, play areas, and a peaceful environment. One of the highlights of the zoo is the variety of friendly animals, including kangaroos, capybaras, and many others that children can observe up close. The zoo is designed to be interactive and engaging, allowing kids to experience nature in a fun and educational way. Beyond the animals, the zoo features a huge park with multiple playgrounds, making it an ideal spot for kids to run around and enjoy. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing, providing a great escape from the city’s hustle. Overall, Saitama Children’s Zoo is a must-visit for families with kids. Whether you’re looking for a fun day out or a peaceful nature retreat, this place has something for everyone! Highly recommended!
Amazing experience at Saitama Zoo! We didn’t have enough time to go to all the exhibits but everything was clean, staff were friendly, the animals were very unique and kept in comfortable & clean enclosures. One of the best zoos we’ve been to in Japan. We will be back!
🚨 Why Are You Still Hesitating?! The Saitama Children's Zoo is the Best Zoo Experience You Will Ever Have 🏆✨ I am writing this review with a genuine sense of urgency ⚡ and confusion 🤔: Why isn't everyone talking about the Saitama Children's Zoo in Higashimatsuyama? 🗣️🇯🇵 I have visited countless zoos and animal parks throughout my life, ranging from famous city zoos 🏙️ to large safari parks 🦁. However, I can say without a shadow of a doubt that this facility offers the single best zoo experience I have ever encountered 🥇. If you are living in Japan or visiting the area and haven't been here yet, you are missing out on something truly special 💎. There are two specific experiences here that are absolutely unparalleled—things you simply cannot experience at other typical zoos: 1. The Incredible "Walk-Through" Wallaby Experience 🦘🌿 Forget looking at animals through glass 🪟 or heavy wire fences. The Bennett's wallaby exhibit here is revolutionary 🤯. They practice a "free-ranging" style where you, the visitor, actually enter their habitat 🚶‍♂️. There are no barriers 🚫 between you and the animals. As you walk along the path, wallabies hop freely right across your feet 🐾. You are not just an observer on the outside; you become a guest in their world 🌏. The level of immersion is breathtaking and feels more like a trip to the Australian outback than a park in Saitama 🇦🇺➡️🇯🇵. 2. The Intimate "Giraffe Terrace" 🦒👀 At most zoos, you are forced to look up at giraffes from the ground, seeing mostly their legs and bellies. This zoo flips that concept on its head 🔄. The "Giraffe Terrace" is a beautifully designed observation deck that brings you up to the same eye level as these majestic giants 🆙. Being able to look a giraffe directly in the eye 👁️, seeing their long eyelashes, and hearing the sound of them chewing their food 🍃 from just a few meters away is a deeply moving experience. It changes your entire perspective on the animal ❤️. 💸 And here is the most shocking part: The Price. With exhibits of this quality—which easily rival or surpass expensive private safari parks—the entrance fee is unbelievably low 📉. It is practically a steal. The cost-performance ratio is so high that it feels like a mistake 😆. You are getting a world-class, life-changing animal encounter for the price of a cheap lunch 🍱. 📢 So, I have to ask: Why aren't you going? Why settle for crowded, concrete-filled zoos when this nature-rich paradise exists? 🌳🍃 If you have even a passing interest in animals 🐨, photography 📸, or just spending a wonderful day outside ☀️, you have no excuse. It is inexpensive, it is innovative, and it is undeniably the best. Do yourself a favor and go immediately! 🏃💨 You will wonder why you waited so long.
Very big and beautiful zoo, good for stay in a quiet place with family or friends. A lot of green in a vaste park, not many species of animals but have a good apace to live there. The park look clean and quiet. Easy to reach with the bua from the train station.
was only there for 20 minutes to quickly see the capybaras bathing. the baths were not on, there were 3 capybaras nothing like the reviews I’ve seen, the park was massive and hard to get around lots of walking and up and down steep roads, as we were only there for 20 minutes my opinion is a bit biased as I didn’t get to see the whole park and experience and maybe came at a bad time. I would like to come back here for a day trip so I can review this zoo more thoroughly and hopefully get the experience others have reviewed about. Also one of the food stall owners was trying to give us more food (and charge more) than we asked for because of our language barrier. we kept telling her no and she wouldn’t listen. The food was not that great but the noodles with pickled ginger were really good. I hope this helps!
Pretty zoo. It might not have like LOTs of animals, but the ones that are there look healthy and have a nice habitat. Also the place is big and it is such a nice experience to go. The even have a "train" to move around the park. There are restaurants, café and food trucks available inside the zoo. It is worth checking the a activities they gave through the day so you can go on time.
It's so much fun! Before going there, I was expecting it to be pretty small and to get around in about 2 hours at a stretch but it's huge. You could just enjoying walking around the place but there are loads of things to do. The admission price is cheap (seemingly too cheap - I thought I had heard the wrong price) and the animals seem happy and well looked after. As well as the animals there are other things to do like the adventure playground, shops and some really good food vans as well (see photo). I am going to recommend it to everyone!
A place definitely for children! The kids will enjoy looking at the animals and they'll learn about these animals too. The place is big for walking, good for cardio! We recommend this place for family, just bring your stroller if you have a child.

Since the word "Yakyu" corresponds to baseball, many baseball boys and girls, as well as people who enjoy baseball as a hobby, come to visit. Of course, it is also possible to visit as a Shichi-Go-San, and is crowded with visitors on holidays.
A hidden gem in Saitama! Yakyū Inari Shrine beautifully blends ancient Shinto spirit with a quirky baseball twist. Its name means “bow and arrow,” but it sounds just like “baseball,” drawing fans who come for lucky charms shaped like bats and balls. The gongen-zukuri halls feature breathtaking dragon carvings—now designated a National Treasure—and the spring peony garden bursts with over 1,300 blooms. Stroll past the fused “married trees” and make a wish for harvest, success, or home-run glory. Peaceful, charming, and just a 5-minute walk from Higashimatsuyama Station. 🏯⚾🌸

(Translated by Google) I visited the Bando Thirty-Three Kannon Sacred Sites on a pilgrimage. Behind the large Kannon-do was a precinct with a unique atmosphere surrounded by rock walls. The highlight is the large ginkgo tree next to Kannon-do Hall! This is a tree spirit... I can't see or feel it, but I feel like it emits such an aura from its unusually large collection of leaves and thick trunk. While receiving the goshuin, the chief priest told us various stories, including the story of the 13 people of Kamakura-dono from the Taiga drama. (Translated by Google) After strolling around Saitama Peace Museum and Monomiyama Park, I came out onto the prefectural road and heard that there was a Kannon Hall at the end of the tunnel. I immediately went to visit it. Shoboji Temple is a temple of the Chizan school of Shingon Buddhism. It is an ancient temple also known as Iwadono-san Shuzen-in or Iwadono-dera. It was restored by Hiki Yoshikazu, a military commander who was also the wet father of Minamoto no Yoriie, the second shogun of the Kamakura shogunate, at the command of Minamoto no Yoritomo. On the left side of the spacious grounds, I could see a large ginkgo tree and a Kannon Hall standing leisurely, but it seemed that the tunnel side was the back of the grounds. I once again looked at the Niomon Gate, bell tower, and various halls from the straight approach to the temple, and prayed at the Kannon Hall. What is particularly noteworthy is that everything from the approach to the Kannon Hall is "picturesque." There are the vivid vermilion Nio statues, the bell tower with a great view below, and the stone Buddhas embedded in the high rock walls. And in the Kannon Hall, the golden Thousand-Armed Kannon Bodhisattva is enshrined as the guardian deity of Minamoto no Yoritomo's wife, Hojo Masako. Even though it was a Sunday, there were few people around, but I was happy to feel like I had discovered a hidden place (^^). There are Kumano shrines, temples, Bentendo halls, and other attractions along the approach to the shrine, so if I get the chance, I'd like to explore the area around the approach as well.

Crowded as before the covid pandemic...so please wear a mask and bring disinfectant. Lots of shopping choices, and a Ks denki and Cainz home center are across the highway. Easy access. Couldn't connect to any wifi. City bus from Tobu Takasaka Station available.

Tranquil and cosy place, worth paying a visit if you happened to be around. No crowds of people and nice surroundings around the museum. If you have time, consider spending some time on the paths of the surrounding park. Make sure you go up into tower, you will see the entire Saitama area from there. There is a big selection of brochures with events and locations to be visited around next to the front desk.
Very nice and quiet place to pay a visit and learn some history of WWII from the Japanese point of view. Free to enter. The tower of view is worth to climb and take some pictures.
If you live nearby or are going to be in the area anyway, you might stop in here to get some good information about World War II, and specifically the fire bombings that happened in a village near here. If you're coming from farther away, maybe this isn't the best use of your time because you could go to some of the other similar museums in Tokyo or Hiroshima, for example. The exhibits here are well chosen and the signage is excellent. Because the location is fairly inconvenient, being far from any train station, you probably won't see large crowds. That's nice if you want to slowly and quietly browse the materials.
Surprisingly interesting. There is a model classroom and world war 2 bunker. Great look out tower. Free parking.
Seems big, huge parking, new building facilities, unfortunately closed over the year end holidays and could not go in. This is near Hatoyama New Town and just next to Ishizaka Country Club golf course, really beautiful forest area, cycling course area. Warning signs for poisonous snakes (mamushi vipers) but they must be hibernating now.
Really nice surroundings for a short hike. The museum was closed for maintenance

This prefectural museum is a very beautiful and spacious facility, and I found myself engrossed in the war-related exhibits. It really made me think. There are also interactive exhibits, such as wartime classrooms and air-raid shelters, which I think will interest and interest children and make them easy to understand. Whatever the reason for visiting, I think this is a museum that I would like as many people as possible, especially young people. There's also a free observation tower, of course. There are many similar towers all over the place, but the elevators are vibration-free, fast, and very comfortable. The views are great, and I could see Saitama New City and Shinjuku. The summit is about 135 meters above sea level, which I didn't think was particularly high, but according to the Higashimatsuyama City website, Monomiyama is the highest peak in the Hiki Hills. The good thing about this park is that it has multiple walking routes (promenades). There is a wide variety, including gentle slopes and steep stairs. Also, unfortunately it wasn’t so appetizing to have in sight the rust (on the separation thing) as I ate 😅… (maybe it was just at our seats, idk) And when leaving it was hard to know which direction to go……. But maybe not if there are many cars coming in and going out. At least the toilet flush wasn’t confusing or scary, lol.
Great place to stop after a long drive to have a rest. Tonnes of souvenirs and some very interesting food being sold here for weary travellers.
Great selection of food stands. The need and pork skewers were particularly good (beef and pork rib)
Really big parking / service area, but well managed and efficiently run. Known for its giant display of Ultraman, a very popular and long-running TV series and hero. Plenty of facilities including toilets, first aid, rest areas, souvenir shops and different types of eateries.
I really enjoy these typical rest stops and wish we had something like this in our home country. A great place to grab something to eat and use the restroom. Very large parking lot.
Well known for its giant Ultraman Seven statue astride a row of drinks vending machines. He speaks every time someone buys a drink. Lots of parking space at this service area. And the food options and market area quite nice too.

amazing place. need to visit and see maruki's masterpieces. he painted great pictures which has not been painted.
I can't say much because if I write a vivid impression in a review, Google will delete it. First of all, I think it's better to see it once.
(Translated by Google) Iri and Shun Maruki's works consistently convey a sense of ownership over "life," and I feel that this is a perspective that is deeply rooted in those of us who live today. Deep existential questions such as ``What does it mean to live?'' and ``What does it mean to be human?'' cannot be answered without knowing history. Works such as ``Diagrams of the Nanjing Massacre'', ``Diagrams of Minamata'', ``Diagrams of Auschwitz'', and ``Minamata, the Nuclear Power Plant, and Sanrizuka'' have the weight of posing such questions, and I believe they are something I should encounter early in my life. After visiting the Sakima Art Museum in Okinawa three years ago, visiting museums with themes of war and memory has become a theme of my travels. The records and expressions encountered in these places provide important clues for understanding modern spiritual history. For those interested, I recommend that you take a look around with a copy of ``Memory Inheritance Museum Guide: Experience the History of Disasters and Ethnic Culture'' (Iwanami Shoten). In addition, Iri Maruki and Shun's ``Illustration of the Battle of Okinawa,'' which became their life's work in their later years, is on display at the museum as a DVD, and you should be able to learn even more deeply by watching it together. Personally, I was deeply inspired by Kana Hiranaka's words, ``War is connected to denying culture, denying language and performing arts.'' P.S.: The Maruki Art Museum will be closed for two years as of September 28, 2025. I highly recommend going before then.
(Translated by Google) I came across Higashimatsuyama City by chance while browsing Google Maps. My plans to visit Hiroshima were canceled, so I decided to check it out. I've visited the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb-related facilities and the Chiran Special Attack Museum, but for some reason, I never had the chance to visit Hiroshima. Recently, I've been outraged by the US president's remarks justifying the atomic bombing, and I've been struggling with how to confront the victims. 80 years have passed since the end of the war, and as those exposed to the atomic bomb have passed away and are aging, the role of "conveying the truth about the atomic bomb" is shifting to the younger generation. However, the works of the Maruki couple and their grandmother on display at the Maruki Art Museum, which opened 57 years ago, reminded me of how important human life is. The folding screen paintings from immediately after the atomic bombing are so vivid that it's tempting to look away, but I believe that Japan and the world we know today are built on the precious sacrifices of nameless ordinary people. As other posters have mentioned, the Maruki Gallery will be closed for an extended period of time after September 28, 2025, so if you want to see the artworks, please come early. In addition to the famous Hiroshima atomic bombing, there were also vivid paintings on display of Minamata, Okinawa, the Nanjing Massacre, and more. It gave me a renewed sense of the horrors of war and the blessings of peace. (Translated by Google) I made a quick visit for the first time after learning that the museum would close for an extended period for renovations, ending on September 28th of this month. I had seen a replica of "The Atomic Bomb," but this was my first time seeing other paintings such as "Boys and Girls," "Nanjing," "Auschwitz," and "Minamata." With my limited vocabulary, I was simply at a loss for words, and was left speechless. Both "The Atomic Bomb," which primarily represents the victims for Japanese people, and "The Nanjing Massacre," which represents the perpetrators, are on display equally. I felt that both paintings were essentially the same, depicting innocent civilians suffering, struggling, fleeing, and losing their lives. I imagined that if the Marukis were still creating art today, they would have painted "The Tragedy and Famine in Gaza," depicting young children starving to death. Then, alongside the "Auschwitz Massacre," they would likely have asked leaders and citizens around the world if they weren't the same.

The impact of seeing the atomic bomb in person is worlds apart from the impact it creates in photographs. It's frustrating that my humble description can't convey even a percent of the impact of these paintings, but I'm sure you'll be impressed, so I urge you to visit. I recommend seeing not only the "Atomic Bomb Illustrations" on the second floor, but also all the exhibits on the first floor. You'll be confronted squarely with our country's negative history, but it's also something we want to look away from; war is an event that encapsulates the human condition, so I urge you to see everything. The station building is very nice and retro look. I could find train-line map of Tokyo and it was helpful for me.

I took some photos, so I thought I'd write a review. As a station, it's neither good nor bad, but there doesn't seem to be a ticket counter, so you need to be careful. I mainly use the outbound lines, and at the moment, door 4 of car 4 is close to the stairs, so I think it's easy to use. (Note to self) My wife and I often meet up at the station plaza in front of the east exit, and I also find it quite easy to use.
