The complex is truly amazing! There is some more work to do, but the quiet vibes, the view from the tower on the top, the paintings inside the church, the walk on the bridge along the architecture, and the small museum are an awe! People who like history and Gothic things should totally give this place a try. It takes 20 lei for the entrance fee (adult), and you get to climb up to the tower to appreciate the work during Dracula's reign. 😀
Very nice tower, A long staircase
The very essence of an emblem of Targoviste, it does have a very fascinating view of the town, maybe one of the best. It is worth to visit it at least once 😁👍
Great place with an amazing view from the top of you can pass the tricky stairs 😃 Recommend!
If you have not been, you need not be told. GO. This place has hundreds of years of history. There is a lot to see and a lot to learn. The top of the tower view is priceless. The caves are amazing, and very cold. The ruins are super interesting. Visit on of Dracula's homes. How many can say they've seen it? The entrance see if 15RON, not too expensive for how much history this place holds. Take the kids too.
We passed by Târgoviște and the Tower on the way back home from Bucharest on Monday. It was supposed to be closed, but parking was readily available and free on the street, so we gave it a shot and surprisingly it was open. Tickets were 15RON per person, and we spent about an hour there. The tower was in great condition, and there was a little museum with written works from 100s of years ago that showcased the evolution of the Romanian language. Bathrooms were super clean too. Nice quiet historical place. Cheap tickets, easy parking. Great place to visit during a road trip break.
By far the most interesting object for visitors inside the Royal complex. The name of the tower in translation means "Sunset tower". This imposing structure was built during the time of Vlad Dracul, the father of the famous Vlad Tepes, also known as Dracula(thanks to the famous Bram Soker novel). The function of the tower evolved from that of a bell tower in the beginning of 15th century, to that of a watchtower, refuge and defence tower during the 15th-16th centuries and the to that of a clock tower in the 17th century.
The tower itself looks really good as it has been renovated, even though it’s not that tall you can see the whole city from it’s top. The park surrounding it is really beautiful. If you have small children you can take them to the city’s zoo which is a 5 minute walk from the tower.

A blanket of white snow transformed the castle into a winter wonderland. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, the frosted towers and snowy walkways were like something from a fairytale. It was the kind of day made for lasting memories.
The grounds are nice, and the tower at the end has a good view of the city. The main part of the court is largely in ruins, and not as impressive as the accompanying buildings, especially the larger of the two churches, as well as the tower. But the grounds are worth a visit, if you're into historical places.
A must-see historical site in Romania! The Royal Court of Târgoviște is full of fascinating medieval charm, with well-preserved ruins, the iconic Chindia Tower, and a peaceful atmosphere that transports you back in time. The site is rich in history — once the residence of Vlad the Impaler — and there are informative signs in both Romanian and English that provide great context. The views from the top of the tower are stunning, especially at sunset. It’s not overly crowded, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend for history buffs or anyone wanting a quiet and beautiful stroll through the past.
Absolute fantastic site to see as we drove towards Bucharest at Tangoviste 20 l entry adults 10 l pensioner Many parts to the site which were impressive Magnificent 360 degrees view from the tower overlooking the town Small museum several churches one we could not enter and some ruins with a lower level
If by any chance you are passing by Targoviste, don't hesitate a minute to visit the Royal Court. Once you are in, there's plenty of places to roam around freely - garden, ruins, museum of printing, the tower, church etc. There's a souvenir store if you feel an urge to buy some mementos and a coffee stop in case you need a power up. Make sure to arrive in the morning to avoid crowds. If you're coming by car, you can park it right on the street.
Nice place with historical interest. Mainly ruins so don’t expect something like City of Carcassonne. Don’t forget to visit the small Typography and Romanian Book Museum. Disappointed that the Chiajna Tower was closed. Need to come back :)
It's a beautiful fort/castle to visit if you're close to this particular city. A lot of history.
The ancient capital of Transylvania, the ruins of a palace, a church, and a tower are its symbols. There used to be a direct route from the palace to the church, but it no longer exists.

"A beautiful park, which you can take your time to relax and refresh yourself"
One of the nicest parks. This place has plenty to do for the entire family. From the lake, with water activities, to the calm and beautil stroll through the giant trees. Immediately attached is also a very nice zoom. The park has a lot of kid oriented activities. There is a playground, they have mechanical toys for kids, there is food and toys to purchase. This is certainly on my recommendation lists. The statues and history of this place demands a visit from kid, to adults.
well organized with a small recreational lake and very clean, with large green areas, suitable for outdoor walks but also in the vicinity of the remains of the "royal court" of the Wallachian principality
Nice place. It is well lit and has a nice lake i the middle. There is also a restaurant with the view at the lake A minus is that some of the alleyways are in disrepair
Lovely place to take your dog for a walk. There's a lot of green, and it's fairly big. There's a little stream in the back, if your dog likes to wet his paws ^_^
Very well groomed and spacious public park. Maybe too much trinkets all over the place but great overall experience.
It's a nice place to visit. The stronghold is well maintained and it was restored.
Cool tower to visit and on top of it you can see the city of Targoviste and also the ruins of the castle. I would recommend to visit this place. The castle from above was nice to see , also the landscape around it was beautiful

Intel I could find, places the central Church of this Monastery as one of the pivotal architectural pieces of the Middle Ages in Valahia. It is indeed the kind of special majestic Orthodox architecture, rising tall and slick and adorned with stonework like at the Curtea de Arges Monastery. The rest of the compound is well kept, clean and tidy and stands proud with all the surrounding buildings in red brickwork. The South front offers a balcony over the slopes of Dealu hill, viewing Târgoviște down below, in all its glory.
A beautiful orthodox nun monastery, on a hill just outside Targoviste.A place full of history and faith. The burial place of Michael the Brave, the first ruler that united the three main regions that form today's Romania.A must see when you visit Targoviste.
It’s a little outside of the main city, but it’s an extremely quiet and peaceful location. For much of the time (after the gaggle of school kids were led away) I was inside the main sanctuary all by myself. It’s a working monastery, so there are nuns walking around. There was a point when I had a question, but all the nuns mysteriously disappeared. The little gift shop at the front entrance is nice, and I bought quite a few things. One note: the tomb of Vlad Dracul is NOT inside the church, it’s in an unknown location somewhere on the monastery grounds. He was buried there before the stone building was built.
A great place to visit and to bond with God. Queit and beautiful. Entry fee it's nly 0.20€
Istorical place very important for the Romania culture. Here is Mihai Viteazu, the king that united the Romania.
Very beautiful and just amazing place to visit
The place can be a small stop in your trip towards other locations to visit, nearby there is a restaurant. It is small monastery located on a hill. Access is easy and it has a parking lot close to it. Inside there is a small museum, the church itself and the tomb of King Michael. A great surprise it was the beautiful view from an open terrace.

The museum is quite light in terms of exhibits and has a bit of everything, feels more like an introductory lesson to Romanian art, if it had an actual explanation it would have been amazing. It is a wonderful building and gives you the sense of what it means to live in a mansion, the scattered objects across the house give it that aristocratic feel to it. The paint on the wall is quite interesting giving it that decorative feel. worth having a look if you are interested in a light viewing. There was this exhibit down stairs from a recent painter and has a very interesting view on nationalistic painting, creating imposing art of historical figures ( a bit over the top in my opinion but interesting nonetheless)
The building is in good condition, I especially liked how the walls were decorated, I definitely recommend visiting this museum
The building is awesome! It's a small museum but interesting to visit.
Ideally located in old town it is a superb example of Italian-born Targoviste craftsmanship. A splendid neo-classic building with Baroque interiors it hosts sublime paintings of Gheorghe Petraşcu, Nicolae Dărăscu, Nicolae Grigorescu and Brancovan frescoes of Grand Voievodal Church of the Voievodal Court.
Professional hosts. Thank you for the presentation.
Very old building. It's nice that the artworks presented are really about Târgoviște and not some random stuff. The entrance is 8 RON or about 2EUR
only worth visiting if you like architecture and religious art

(Translated by Google) Ok location, I have been twice, the first time was perfect, I had a reservation on the floor where it was quite free. On the other hand, the second time I had the reservation down and I had a busker asking for drinks at the tables, sitting on the sofas, feeling the jackets (probably to see if there is something worth stealing) and bombers set on a scandal. Considering that an entrance fee is charged, I really wonder how that boschetra managed to enter. I probably won't visit again soon, only if I manage to get a reservation upstairs, where it's freer.
