Stunning mosque in a gorgeous space. Whether by day or night, Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque shines like a jewel. No fee to visit. The interior is equally beautiful. Visitors with bare head, exposed appendages are offered a robe to wear while visiting. Shoes need to be removed before stepping up from the steps. Before entering. All staff members are friendly and helpful.
A must-visit landmark in Bandar Seri Begawan. The golden dome of the mosque is stunning, especially during sunset when it reflects beautifully over the water. The surroundings are peaceful, and the architecture is both grand and elegant. Non-Muslims can enter during designated hours, but make sure to follow the dress code. It's free to visit and definitely worth stopping by if you're in Brunei. One of the most iconic spots in the country.
The capital city of Brunei, where silence is golden, much like the domes. A place so clean and orderly, you’ll feel guilty for chewing gum too loudly. Everything looks polished, peaceful, and possibly watched by a CCTV operated by someone in royal attire. Expect gleaming mosques, air-conditioned museums, and entire streets where the loudest noise is your own flip-flops. Locals are warm, roads are wide, and traffic is so calm it feels rehearsed. There’s oil money somewhere underfoot, but above ground, it’s all modest smiles and slow living. Come for the iconic Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, stay for the surreal calm and leave wondering if you accidentally trespassed into a billionaire’s backyard that also happens to be a country. Home to one of the world’s richest reigning monarchs, the Sultan of Brunei, whose palace has over 1,700 rooms, and that’s just the official count. You won’t see him, but you’ll definitely feel the royal footprint in every perfectly trimmed hedge and overachieving fountain. A surreal blend of wealth, calm, and quiet confidence..like a luxury car that never honks. Oh ya.. there’s an actual road called Jalan Pretty. Not sure if it’s a compliment, a trap, or just a passive-aggressive reminder to moisturize.
This place is within walking distance from the Regalia museum, we came right after the museum. We were wearing shorts at that time which is not allowed when entering the mosque but the staff lent us a robe so we can enter. We were only allowed to walk around a small area of the mosque but we still get to enjoy the air-con and see the interiors of the mosque. I think we are only allowed to walk around small area is because there are locals coming to pray while tourists are visiting. It's shame that we left the area the mosque after leaving the interior, as there are actually some outside area that we can explore. Visited on 19 May 2025
Very beautiful mosque, nice garden ext to it. Tranquility zone, not busy outside prayer times
Beautiful & huge mosque. The dome is made of 24k gold! Just beside the waterfront. Great view.
Spectacular n definitely worth a visit. d gold dome can be seen when u drive around d city area. This mosque is v big n grand with rugs fr Saudi Arabia n walls made with Italian marble. Free to enter. Footwear must be removed at entrance. Males shd wear long pants, no tanks tops or sleeveless. Females must put on d green robe provided. Do remember to walk fr d side of d mosque to d back to take pictures of d picturesque manmade lagoon n boat.
Beautiful and peaceful. This mask has many different angles and it’s worth it to walk around and look and explore.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5-Star Review – Royal Regalia Museum, Brunei The Royal Regalia Museum is truly a must-visit when in Brunei. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a grand showcase of royal heritage that feels both majestic and meaningful. The displays are extensive, well-curated, and beautifully maintained—each section tells a clear story of Brunei’s monarchy, traditions, and national identity. The highlight is definitely the impressive collection of royal garments, ceremonial items, and gifts from world leaders. Everything is presented with great detail, making it worth every dollar spent. The layout is easy to follow, and the air-conditioned environment makes the experience comfortable and enjoyable. If you’re exploring Bandar Seri Begawan, this museum should be at the top of your list. A rich and fascinating experience that leaves you appreciating the history and elegance of Brunei’s royal legacy. Highly recommended!
Many men have man caves, though not this opulent. In this museum, you learn a little about the history of Brunei, and the Sultan. Not much is shared about remaining family members. In this museum, you will see lots of glitter, gold that’s part of the lives of the royal family, along with gifts and swags given to the Sultan from rich and powerful connections. And it may cross your mind that those are not really gifts that one would want to put in their homes. So if you rule a country, have unlimited resources, have more money than you need for many lifetimes, you too may build something to house all of that. It’s interesting to see what world leaders gift each other. Definitely ranges from interesting, thoughtful to what?? 🤔 There is a fee to enter. Bags need to be placed in lockers. No outside shoes permitted. It’s not a huge museum, though not small either. Plan for at least 1-2 hours to take in everything.
It is a museum that contains the gifts and ceremonial items belonging to the Sultan of Brunei. The place tells a lot about the life of the Sultan from his youth to his time as Sultan. He is still alive now and has been ruling for more than 60 years. There are many items commemorating his 60 years of rule around the museum so it left quite an impression. The items displayed here all looked really unique and pretty. Definitely worth the $5 to enter and visit the place. Visitors are can use non-smartphone cameras (action camera, mirrorless) in the area where the chariot is displayed but inside you can only use smartphones as they will tell you to store your stuff in a locker before entering the main route. 굳이라는 생각이 든다. The Royal Regalia Museum is a must-visit spot in Bandar Seri Begawan for anyone interested in Brunei’s monarchy and cultural heritage. The building itself is grand and well-maintained, and the exhibits are impressive — from royal chariots and ceremonial weaponry to gifts from other nations. The museum offers a unique glimpse into the life and traditions of the Sultanate, with well-preserved items and detailed explanations. Best of all, it’s free to enter. Make sure to store your bags at the entrance, as photography isn’t allowed inside. A quiet and educational stop that adds depth to your understanding of Brunei.
We all friends visted this Royal museum at Pusat Bandar, entrance fees is $5 brunei dollar per person, you can see lot of photos, so ,many things which Royal Sultan of Brunei used from his earlier age to now, so many gifts presented by various peoples, and it has descriped how the the Kingdom is live his life, his wifes and his ministry and the people of Brunei Darussalam. How he kind with his people and how he administrate this country. It is worth to visit.
We, from Cambodia 🇰🇭 have visited Royal Regalia Museum during our holiday. It is so quiet and peaceful to visit. It’s proud to see a memorial gift from our country that has presented at the Royal Brunei 🇧🇳 Museum 🙏
A collection of items gifted to the Sultan of Brunei who is either a man loved by the people or loved by himself — a distinction that is hard to tell. The line between honorific and self-indulgent feels blurred here. But, there are plenty of beautiful items on display. A pleasant, if not slightly dull, way to pass an hour in Brunei.
A museum that shows the coronation and life of the Sultan. It was impressive at first but slowly made me feel like I’m just looking at gifts that he got all over the world but had no space in his home. The staff wasn’t particularly welcoming and quite choppy. Only words I got from them are “write here” and “five ringgit”.

One of the most beautiful mosques I’ve ever visited. The golden domes and detailed architecture are absolutely breathtaking. The surrounding gardens are well maintained and add to the peaceful atmosphere. It's especially stunning during sunset. Visitors are welcome outside of prayer hours, but make sure to dress modestly. A must-visit when you're in Brunei!
I visited on a Sunday at 9am and was glad to find it not too crowded. Do check the visiting hours in advance. The mosque is truly one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen—its architecture is simply stunning. The surrounding garden and fountains make it a perfect spot for photos. This is definitely a must-visit when in Brunei. Just remember to dress appropriately and be respectful during your visit.
They say the dome of this mosque is made with 25% gold, and it really shows in its beauty. What I love is that even non-Muslims or visitors who aren’t dressed modestly can still enter by wearing a robe provided here. The unique design makes every corner feel grand and luxurious honestly, it’s the kind of place where you can’t resist snapping a photo.
First top for most tourist. Plenty of photos opportunities. We felt welcomed at the entrance especially if you can speak Malay/from Malaysia. Very picturesque place.... No entrance fees. A good place to stop by. Pls make sure you check the time for praying as they will closed during that time. If I'm not mistaken, mosque will closed from 1130am to 230pm for non Muslims.
Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah summoned John Lawson to the country's capital, in the early 1990s after being inspired by the Englishman's work. Lawson was asked to design the glass dome for a new mosque that would be constructed to honour the Silver Jubilee of Hassanal Bolkiah. Although it was first officially called the Kiarong Mosque, it would go on to be renamed as Jame' Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque.
Beautiful mosque, interesting and unique architecture, outside prayer times is not crowded and is a perfect spot for nice instagram pictures. Free to visit, free parking.
A very grand architecture. Serene and peaceful inside. Looks especially nice at night with the lightings. Do observe the rules and culture when visiting this place.
The biggest mosque I've ever seen. Super beautiful and the attendant shared that the chandelier in men's section is made in Austria and the marble walls are made from Italy. Very peaceful

Nice local market for finding local snacks, soto daging (beef noodles for B$1), vegetables, fruits and alot more. I arrived at 11:30 and not all stores were already open. The soto daging tasted fine but not very filling.
Tamu Kianggeh is a vibrant local market offering a wide variety of products at reasonable prices. You’ll find fresh fruits, vegetables, and traditional Malay kuih muih, along with food stalls selling fritters, drinks, fried snacks and many more. The market is clean, tidy and also budget-friendly, making it a popular spot for locals, especially during the weekends. It tends to get crowded in the mornings especially on Friday ans Sunday, so arriving early is recommended as many vendors close before noon. Although there is paid parking available, the convenience of the market's layout and its bustling atmosphere make it worth a visit for anyone looking to experience local flavors and culture.
As someone from another SEA country, the market seems to be lack of people. It's modern wet market that means it's clean and comfortable. It sells mostly farm produce but some are selling traditional snacks (when i visited there maybe 2-3 stalls selling traditional snacks, 2-3 stall selling modern snack and drinks. A coconut water stall. The rest are the produce stalls.
The Kianggeh market is the place to go for your local needs, and especially the rare culturally relevant items You can buy locally grown fruits and vegetables for a price that's not too different from the supermarkets There are also handcrafted local items that are hard to get elsewhere There're many local food and drinks available in the stalls This market is usually fairly sparse during weekdays but on the weekends, especially Friday, this place gets very full to the point that traffic starts to back up all the way outside The place is also very sheltered from the weather, no matter if it's hot or rainy
Maybe because I went at about noon time on a Thursday, I find that the market looks pathetic with just the vegetables stalls opened plus a few food stores. No meat or fish stalls opened, if they can be found here. Wonder how/where does the locals get their meat. Went on Friday morning and more stalls have opened, including fish and chicken stalls.
Kianggeh Market, is a traditional open-air wet market on the banks of the Kianggeh River in Brunei's capital, Bandar Seri Begawan. The market is famous for its fresh local produce, ready-made food, and local handicrafts.
Small local market with some produce and snacks. It’s located close to the mosque and waterfront, so it’s an easy stop if you’re in the area. That said, it’s nothing special at all, any neighborhood market in other Southeast Asian countries is more vibrant and interesting. Worth a quick look if you’re passing by, but not a must-see. You can walk around the whole market in a few minutes.
It’s a local market with different areas for dry goods, wet goods and food.

The park is nicely designed and it is actually a huge hike area where you can spend a few days to explore the entire trails they have got. Path wasn't well Marked but is clear as the path was very worn and visible
Tasek Lama Park is an urban park located along Jalan Tasek Lama of Kampong Tasek Lama, in the heart of Bandar Seri Begawan.[4] As one of the oldest recognised parks in the nation, it features an artificial lake and waterfall. The park is a popular destination for both locals and visitors, offering a rare green space within the city. In addition to its scenic landscape, it is known for its diverse bird population, attracting birdwatchers to observe about 80 bird species known to exist there.
Here you will find a great deal of walking and hiking trails of various levels of difficulty, ideal for joggers and hikers. For avid adventurers, pack up your hiking gear and hit the jungle trails of Sarang Helang (Eagle’s Nest) or Bukit Markuching. The viewing tower can give you a nice bird’s eye view of the park. It is a nice trail and hike, but some facilities need to repair
A perfect place to go for people who loves to go for a walk, jogging, excercise, trekking, or simply likes to appreciate nature. Kids will also enjoy to play around. They have clean rest rooms and vendo machines where you can buy drinks. And best of all, entrance to the place is free!!!
great hiking area in the middle of Bandar, never busy and plenty of alternative hikes to make it interesting to come back several times. No swimming in the waterfalls here.
Well maintained park . Great for jogging and hiking.
I was here some 20 years ago, age does carry away yet the historical beauty of the park is still iconic and i call this beauty of aging There are ways to make the park better, to be more facilitating, impressive and a place even a tourist will come back for more during holidays, What i like most , the no bottle policy, the roadmap, and the disappointment are those passive exercise playground and facilities, shall be made good. Need to be repaired.
Nothing really special but the mind-comforting place is this one.

Food Paradise with lots of local specialties. You can try a little bit of each dish and be full. Many locals come here to buy food. The price is very reasonable.
Pasar Pelbagai Barangan Gadong (Gadong Night Market) is a lively and authentic night market in Brunei, perfect for trying local street food. The variety is impressive — from grilled skewers and satay to banana fritters and colorful traditional sweets. Prices are very affordable, and the atmosphere is vibrant with locals and tourists alike. It's mostly cash only, so make sure to bring some bills. I just wish it had a bit more seating space to enjoy the food comfortably. Still, definitely worth a visit for a real taste of Brunei!
Interesting night market with quite some selection of local Brunei food. However, very limited seats available, thus more suitable for take-aways, unless you are lucky to find a table. Do prepare with cash for payment here.
The area is split into 2 sections, the outdoor with small circular kiosks and the "market" with long aisles that occupy one of the warehouse like building. I prefer the market one as it's more traditional while the outdoor are more like cafes style. I think about 20-25% of the space are without tenant. Now to the food, mostly are good especially the ones with lots of customer. Tried the keropok lekor from dapur aisyah is better. The 1$ huge drink which i only can finish 1/2 of it. Bought another nasi katok and top it with rendang and bitter gourd. Wanted to buy jengkol but remember i stayed at a hotel. Great place to get local food. The closer it is to dinner time the more crowded the market is. (It peaked around 18.00-19.00)
A market offering a wide selection of affordable and clean food and drinks. We tried the nasi katok kambing (B$3) which was tasty along with banana fritters (B$1), fried spring rolls (B$1) and unsweetened watermelon juice (B$1). The place is well maintained with wash basins available for handwashing.
My first time visit the Gadong Night Market. Great atmosphere, very affordable and variety of food and snacks! Highly recommended when you visit Brunei!
You discover a variety of local and tasty foods in addition of lovely fruits and drinks with different flavors. Gadong Night Market is worth to visit
There are 2 main rows of food at night. One row is more happening with ready to eat food while the another row is more quiet which mainly sells fruits. I enjoyed their grilled mackerel from stall 7. Very meaty, fresh and inexpensive;))) Kueh was decent but I enjoyed the fish alot more. What's also very notable is there is alot of fried items and alot of nasi katok

I utterly disgusted by what we encounter on one of our food. Upon eating our takeaway , my daughter stumble across a piece of receipt/ scribbled notes inside the bottom of the mashed potato. How did this end of inside, I wonder? Please check how your staff handle the food preparation.. so unhygienic!
“Fast food” the most slowest fast food I ever had. The staff talking very blurry and the food is also slow. 2 burger waiting for 20minit. Pls hired new staff or retraining your staff
Was here today 4/5/2024. Lunch hour for take-away. Very disappointed with the unhygienic and the bad customer service. Once at home, tahu2 ayamnya ada rambut!!! And I specifically request types of chicken parts when I saw memang ada at that time. Tahu2, antam nya saja membagi ayam ah. Mantang2 I said, I will pick it up later. Usually at others branch, they well inform if chicken parts yg dmahu atu ada or nada. So that we can opted for another parts. But the worst, tu nah berambut. And please Management, do something. I saw many comments about how bad the services which I strongly believe its time to improve.
Very bad customer service. I asked for the packed ketchup because the ketchup dispenser isnt working. The guy attending the cashier already place some on the tray, but the manager took it back saying that there are ketchup on the dispenser. We already said that the dispenser isn't functioning but they took no further action.
Service is very slow. Food was prepared but only one cashier attending.

Worth visiting. An informative museum. The staffs are nice and helpful. Lockers are provided before entering the galleries. A good itenerary for a day trip that includes the nearby museums, archaeological sites and grave sites of the former sultans. Yet another great museum in Brunei's little museum complex. As with the others, admission is free. Although I believe you aren't supposed to take photos here - as is the case with seemingly every museum in Brunei - they didn't seem to strict about that, and with the beautiful exhibits of Kampong Ayer and the other less-developed parts of Brunei, you will definitely want to snap a couple photos!

Should not miss when you’re in Kampong Ayer. The most surprising little museum with the most friendly & helpful staff. The young man was more than delighted to educate me on the history of Kampong Ayer, past, present & future. He also was able to give me local tips & suggestions. Only found this place while walking the village walkways one morning & so glad I did. You can support by purchasing from their gift store, cash only. Absolutely recommend visiting, 1 hour. After, a boatman will pick you up from the nearest jetty & a great way to set up with your driver for a Proboscis monkey river cruise!
free admission. the museum is air-conditioned and displays all the objects related to the history of this fishing village. it usually takes about half an hour to visit this gallery
Small museum giving brief history of Brunei and especially Kampong Ayer (Water Village) which surprisingly was the center of ancient Brunei.
Great little museum! Entrance is free, and it’s a nice place to spend some time learning and relaxing. The museum has a souvenir shop and clean toilets, plus it’s fully air-conditioned — a nice break from the heat. Don’t forget to head up to the observation deck for a great view of Kampung Ayer. Definitely worth a visit if you’re nearby!
A very interesting place right on the water body giving a glimpse of the old world charm of Brunei. Appreciate the efforts put in by the local body to keep this
Went with no expectations but was pleasantly surprised by it. Interesting place to visit. I didn’t visit any of the houses except the cultural building which had a good amount of information and history about this place. Explored around on our own, said hi to some residents who were friendly, and then took a boat ride around. Tip : wear proper shoes as the wooden boards are uneven and rickety.
Kampong Ayer is the name for a water village in Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei. The name means “Water Village” (Malay Kampung Air) and the settlement actually consists of a collection of traditional stilt-dwelling settlements over the Brunei River. They are located in close proximity to today's Pusat Bandar (Bandar Seri Begawan city center). Kampong Ayer is often referred to as one of the “Venice of the East.”
Nice way to experience the living of people in Brunei. For those who have engaged a tourist, they might not take you to roam the place as they might have made arrangements with specific residents for house visit. During the home visit, you might get to try local desserts and tea.

The Malay Technology Museum is an excellent spot to learn about the fascinating history of Brunei and its traditional industries, with a special focus on the Water Village (Kampung Air). This museum offers an in-depth look at how Brunei’s people have lived and worked, particularly in relation to their connection with water and the development of local industries. The exhibits showcase a variety of traditional tools, crafts, and technologies that were used by the people of Brunei, reflecting the resourcefulness of those living in the water village. You’ll find fascinating displays about boat building, fishing techniques, agriculture, and other industries that were crucial to Brunei’s historical development. The museum provides a deep dive into the lifestyle and culture of the Malay people in Brunei, showing how these industries helped shape the country. The interactive exhibits and informative displays make it easy to understand the historical context of each piece. The museum itself is well-maintained and easy to navigate, offering a peaceful and educational experience. Whether you’re a history buff or simply interested in learning about Brunei’s heritage, I highly recommend visiting the Malay Technology Museum.
Nice place. Hard to reach by bus aa they vome only once per hpur but you dont know when exactly. The museum is nice. Bit to read. They removed to mannequins which you can see on other pictures. Still recommended if you have some free time.

I appreciated the models of houses and boats. These gave an idea of how people lived long ago. The staff were friendly. It was a pleasant visit
The museum is about Malay Culture and how they used to live in previous days. The museum is well maintained and there are always staff nearby to help you out if you need any assistance. One of the recommended museums that the tourists can drop by whenever they come to Brunei.
Learn about the different ways of fishing . Learn about the existence and buildings of the Water Village. Learn about the traditional games play by children in the old days. Learn about the craft industries and how it is preserved till today
Worth visiting. An informative museum. The staffs are nice and helpful. Lockers are provided before entering the galleries. Galleries full of dioramas about the the malay way of life, living on stilts, different industries and livelihoods adapted on the swamps. A good itenerary for a day trip that includes the nearby museums, archaeological sites and grave sites of the former sultans. A trail nearby would lead to the ruins and excavations inside the forested area. The same area as the maritime museum.
