Serene lake with turquoise water, scenic views of the Dolomites & walking paths around the bank.

This is definitely the place to be at if you want a nice calm stroll around a lake or body of water with the turquoise water! It was very midday so I was glad I had tenis shoes on and didn’t go down to the water! It has its 2 own parking areas and also a hiking to the lake across the bridge.
Very beautiful lake, mountain scenery and town with restaurants and promenade. Lake may be drained in winter.
Beautiful spot to spend the day. The lake of Barcis is surrounded by beautiful mountains that make the scenery just magic. When the water is high (and it's important to keep in mind that this is a semi-artificial lake and sometimes it might not be full, as in the first pictures), the landscape becomes a perfect mix of turquoise waters and green woods. There is plenty of things to do: taking a walk around the old town of Barcis, walking across it's bridge, visiting the old road + the Tibetan bridge (this has a cost of 3€/person + 3€/person if you want to do the bridge), take a walk around Sentiero del Dint and see the lake from different perspectives (this is free and my favourite), etc. Highly recommended!
Nice little lake tucked in the mountains. We took bread and fed the birds, had a pick nick and then explored. Went around the lake multiple times. Water was down but lots of construction in the area. It was great for a nice relaxing afternoon away from the towns.
Beautiful Lake! Areas for families to bbq and children to play. Hiking 🥾 trails and shallow areas for children to swim.
Must visit if in area. But tourist train ride and hike in Cellina gorge is closed on weekdays till july.
Fantastically beautiful! Blue green seren water set against a backdrop of old layered mountains. Crisp cool mountain air even in the summer. You can never go wrong with going to Barcis for a respite from life.
Nice area, great mountain scenery, good for short hikes, but also for longer ones. The lake is not natural but the result of a dam (just in case you expect a "real" lake).

Awesome hike, quite easy but impressive in terms of landscapes. Included in the price a safety helmet. About 4km in total.
Beautiful lake with great hiking trails.
A very peaceful place.
(Translated by Google) Stunning place, because it's natural, we stopped to eat at 2.20pm at barcis_tur snc, a place with a typical mountain look and yet crowded, so we asked ourselves, yes, well, let's stop, we sat down, we waited 20 minutes, it arrives the waiter, I ask him to bring me typical food from the area, he replies that the kitchen is closed and if we want to eat we have sandwiches and toast available, ok I was hungry there I order a raw ham sandwich and a toast, waiting for food arrives they bring us two beers on tap after 20 minutes the sandwich and sandwich arrive I expect a stuffed sandwich, guys inside there were 2 slices of raw sandwich dry and inedible the sandwich a little wetter but not with typical cheeses like they do described. I wonder if I have to hold an activity and not feed something typical that makes me remember the place before recommending someone I would think twice.
(Translated by Google) After paying for the ticket we were given a sanitized helmet and we set off to discover the old Valcellina road which allows you to travel a part in complete silence and immersed in the wildest nature. We would have liked to see more surveillance along the route as there was work involving dangerous machinery and people who, regardless of the prohibitions, passed over the barriers just to take a selfie. The route is entirely flat and feasible even for small children and strollers.

Walk on foot or by train or crossing the river that passes through the valley thanks to a Tibetan bridge. All very interesting but it would be nice if you could take advantage of these things not only in the summer and on weekends in the other months. (Translated by Google) One star and I'll explain why. The gorge itself is worth a visit. But BEWARE: the best option is to visit on foot. It's an easy two kilometers there and another two on the way back. Very doable even with small children. We instead took the little train that in an hour took us to pick up other people in the nearby town of Barcis along the state road, so a useless tour, then took us around a wood, equally useless, and finally we reached the gorge, the last fifteen minutes of a mostly boring and off-topic tour. I repeat, the gorge itself is worth it, but the little train allows a limited and hasty view. Even the scant recorded commentary was barely audible. Having spent 28 euros because there are no discounts even for small children (unless they are under a year old!), we asked at least to be able to walk back to be able to enjoy part of the gorge up close. We were told that we had to pay an additional ticket. So I repeat, avoid giving money to the company that runs the train and enjoy the horror on foot.

Small, cosy place with nice people. Went here for drinks and enjoyed it.☺️
First time there. It's nice to stop to have some drink or food after walking to see the lake. I also ordered tropical food form there "Pitina" i recommend you tri it if you are there. The staff are nice welcoming and the price are good.
We just wanted a panni and a coffee but stayed for longer than intended. Very friendly lady served us and that added to the enjoyment of our visit. Great for a quick snack, a coffee or perhaps a beer. Simple rustic interior.
Excellent. Well placed, welcoming, good value with great owners and staff....

Reading other reviews, it's unclear whether prices vary seasonally. (Translated by Google) An amazing place! We were already impressed on the way here, just walking past the mountains and the lake... and here you find yourself completely in the mountains, but at the same time absolutely outside the extreme - so you can bring both children and dogs! For safety reasons, helmets are issued at the entrance - we laughed and put them on and from the first meters we realized that this precaution was not accidental - along the entire route, the railings of the fence were damaged here and there! The ticket price is ridiculous. I haven’t checked whether it’s possible to buy tickets online - if it is, it’s better to take advantage of it! On Sunday we stood in line for about 15 minutes. But inside, everyone somehow disperses and walks around absolutely alone. The place itself is very well maintained. The only downside is that there are no toilets. We walked for 3 hours, having previously had breakfast in the tavern, next to the ticket office. Otherwise, an ideal place with beautiful nature around!

In any case, if you want to take an ultra-quiet walk, without complications and with a beautiful view, within everyone's reach, it could be for you. The elegant structure, perfectly integrated into the surrounding urban context, is located right in the center, overlooking the main road that runs through the town. We visited it some time ago since we were in town for a walk 🚶🏻‍♂️ in the mid-afternoon. Arriving there around 4:30 pm 🕟, we first toured the outside and then moved inside the building. The façade is pleasant, simple and sober in its essential lines. The bell tower is distinctive, made of dark gray bricks 🧱 that visibly contrast with the white plaster ⚪ of the church ⛪; a couple of benches have been placed at the base of the bell tower. Regarding the interior spaces, note the remains of what appears to be an ancient spiral staircase, now no longer accessible (truly peculiar). Aside from an exposed and dangling electrical wire (as shown in the attached photo 📸 📎), I also noticed a pair of flags (Italian 🇮🇹 and Vatican 🇻🇦) on either side of the altar (an unusual detail). The only downside is the bells, which create excessive noise pollution at all hours of the day. They ring twice, all day and night, and even on the half-hour. This may be a historical tradition, but nowadays it's out of context and hard to understand. In addition, at 6 a.m., three bells ring to signal morning prayer. And no, you never get used to that.

The outlet of the valley into the main one in which the Cellina flows is narrow and altered, in its natural appearance, by the presence of hydraulic works. However, as you go up the valley, increasingly spectacular landscapes open up, which certainly repay the hiker abundantly for the effort required by the ascent. Great fun attraction, the landscape before the bridge is beautiful. You have to pay €3,00 for the old Valtellina road, the bridge is about 800 meters from the entrance. If you decide to walk on the bridge you will have to pay an extra €3,00 for the harness. Lovely experience.
(Translated by Google) For the modest sum of €3 you will be provided with a helmet and you will have the opportunity to cover the first 4km of the old Valcellina road on foot. Along the asphalted path you can admire the canyon crossed by the crystal clear waters of the stream. For At the halfway point for those who do not suffer from vertigo, with the addition of €3 euros you can cross the stream thanks to the suggestive Tibetan bridge (harness required). Accessible to children and adults. Not very large parking lot. Accessibile a bambini e adulti. Parcheggio non molto capiente.
(Translated by Google) A wonderful, energizing experience. The bridge is high but not too high to be scary. The use of safety carabiners is simple and suitable for everyone. The guy is very helpful and friendly. You need to be reasonably athletic to climb the path to the top of the bridge; it's narrow and uphill, but you're always secured with carabiners. It's worth spending €3 for this experience surrounded by nature. Children aged 7 and up can do it. There may be a bit of a queue.

(Translated by Google) A beautiful walk, on a driveway closed to traffic, at the entrance you are given a helmet to protect yourself from any stones that could fall into the tunnels, excellent choice and decision. To get onto the bridge you are given a harness to tackle a small stretch of via ferrata, also in this case I find it right and correct, the bridge is obviously safe and a harness would not be necessary, but to reach the bridge we have to do a small difficult section of trail where a harness is recommended. The emotion that we can experience is beautiful, and the panorama is equally beautiful with crystal clear water where you can see the bottom of the river. Recommended route is beautiful. ATTENTION THE ROUTE IS NOT SUITABLE FOR THOSE WHO SUFFER FROM DIZZINESS. ATTENZIONE IL PERCORSO NON è ADATTO PER CHI SOFFRE DI VERITIGINI.

The building can accommodate several people, and there's always a caretaker on duty during the season. Nearby is a magnificent, rebuilt fojarol (shelter). Serene lake with turquoise water, scenic views of the Dolomites & walking paths around the bank.
Slide 1 of 8
This is definitely the place to be at if you want a nice calm stroll around a lake or body of water with the turquoise water!
