A lovely historical site that has been kept in immaculate condition. Friendly staff, amazing access all areas - very rare to find such a high quality museum that is so open to visitors. Very interesting for visitors of all ages, especially the changes through the different periods (possibly less interesting for children under 10, but that is the nature of historical sites). There is even a possibility to dress in a historical fashion!
Absolute Recommendation!! We loved it! The exhibitions were amazing and the grounds are beautiful. If you want to learn a bit more about the development and evolution of the Danish nobility after the 15th century, this is for you. They really captured the general atmosphere very well, but it was also very informative. There was a ton of stuff for kids to do too. We also had some coffee and cake from the manor kitchen, which was lovely. Truly fantastically done!
Gammel Estrup is a nice historical site that is well maintained and has beautiful grounds, there are many rooms furnished and decorated with both original and recreated items. The entry ticket also gives you access to the grøn museum, which is a walk through the history of farming. I would recommend a visit especially if you like visiting castles and old estates, the one downside is that both Gammel Estrup and the Grøn Museum are fairly static, so there isn't much for younger children to interact with, which is okay but it means that how excited and engaged they will be almost entirely depends on how good of a storyteller you are. Understandably a lot of the set pieces are cordoned off, which makes sense for preservation purposes, but does make you feel a little disconnected. Overall, it was a nice experience and worth the time, the staff we interacted with were all very friendly, and there are a few activities for children like stilts they can walk on that are fun too. You could easily spend 1-2 hours here, more if you take it slow and have a coffee or snack.
I wish we couldve stayed longer to take it all in some more, this manor is fascinating and beautiful! We loved learning about it and getting a peek into its history.
A beautiful Castle and display of Danish heritage and nature. It was a part of a ticket to det grønne Museum , and overwhelmed me with the collection and access they give to it .
Very cool muesum and grounds to explore. The brick manor house is an excellent example how the danish nobility lived through the ages. There are also many other exhibits in different buildings on the grounds, like a blacksmith or an exhibit on farm equipment.
Lots to see and experience! Nice to be able to walk freely within the castle. Nice restaurant by the entrance with good food and excellent service. Well worth the entrance fee.
It was just a quick tour for me and how I wish to see more. But indeed an amazing place to experienced and stepping in feels like you’re back in old times..

(Translated by Google) On December 24, I wanted to go to church with my family. My husband went with the 2 smaller children and I came with our youngest in the pram. When I entered the anteroom of the church, I have to hear from an employee of the church, "you can't go in there" without further explanation. So I was very disappointed with such arrogance. Good service. Basic no-frills place with modern fittings, clean and neat. Spacious rooms with nice views, bright and airy. A good place for those wanting to explore but not linger. Attached restaurant to side. Had casserole and several Thor beers. Lived up to its recommendation. Will easily return.
Big and warm rooms and a friendly staff. You have a supermarket close by, and yes the breakfast was really fresh. Instagram - @bogdan_pitic
