Beautiful beach. Reading the other reviews, we were a bit worried about the access coming here with two kids age 3 and 5, but it was easier than we imagined. I definitely agree with those who recommended wearing water shoes or at least sneakers for the dry part, though. There was not much natural shade from noon onwards, but other than that the beach was perfect if you do not need snack bars, sun beds, entertainment.
Just "made it" to the picturesque southeastern part of Hovolo Beach. This is actually a series of precious little coves - half sand, half pebbles - against the full shade (morning) of beautiful white rocks with contrasting greenery on top. You MUST wear WATER SHOES to reach the place. The distance from the kayaks point to there is not long at all, however extra care is needed to not break an ankle, an arm, or anything, as you progress on and along the (some of them slippery) stones covered by or next to the water, one hand on the wall of rocks. Should the sea be perfectly calm, you would just get wet feet and calves, yes. However, if the sea is less than 100% calm, you may see yourself sprinkled, even half wet. Your non-water resistent belongings had better be in your backpack. Do not forget water and refreshments. Recommended!
One of the best beaches whatsoever. Note that to get here you need aqua shoes or really good sandals that will hold steady in water and rocks as you must pass through the water to get here. So don't bring too much luggage. I saw people doing courses back and forth and struggling with taking/putting shoes on and off, but that's the only way in and out. Through the kayak zone from the bus stop and so on ...
The most beautiful beach on Skopelos. Before this beach, there is Neo Klima beach, which is also very nice for relaxing. From there, the path continues towards Hovolo beach. The access is easy, but you should be careful about the footwear you wear because you walk over rocks. For safety, wear comfortable shoes. It’s not physically demanding. At the end of the beach, there is a small cave where there is always shade until 5 pm and even later. However, one morning we noticed a water snake there, which is not dangerous but you should still be cautious.
Amazing beach with clear water and a quiet atmosphere. The only downside is the access which is probably not that hard when the weather is all clear and there are no waves, but that was not the case when we were visiting. Definitely worth the hype.
Was difficult to access. We had to walk around 10minutes on painful rocks some outside of water and some inside before we got to the beach. Try to have your hands free, you will need them. The beach had an amazing color but I would not go there again, the struggle to get there was not worth it, it was not so relaxing for me to be there. Probably because i prefer the sandy beaches
Worth getting your feet wet! Park by the beach and restaurants then hang a left and well along the beach to the south east, you will get wet feet so wear what works. Very little in the water but you can’t avoid it. The very best place to see the sunset
In my opinion, the most beautiful beach on the island. Completely wild, pebbly, with incredible water color and enough places to feel isolated from the rest of the world. The whole morning in the natural shade. It can be challenging to get there, as you need water shoes as you cross slippery, sharp rocks. It is really advised not to start in flip flops or slippers

It’s a nice city beach only a few minutes walk from the city center. It also has nice Tavernas.
Terrible Experience – Not Coming Back I had high hopes for this beach bar, but it ended up being a huge disappointment. The service was incredibly slow and the staff seemed more interested in chatting with each other than helping customers. It took over 30 minutes just to get a simple drink, and when it finally arrived, it was watery and tasted like it had been sitting out for a while. The place was also filthy – tables were sticky, trash was piling up near the bar, and the bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. For a beach location, you’d expect at least a relaxed, clean vibe, but instead it felt chaotic and neglected. The music was way too loud and not even good – just repetitive club tracks blasting with no regard for the time of day or the type of crowd. Not the chill beach atmosphere I was hoping for. Way overpriced for what you get. There are much better options nearby. Avoid this place if you want to actually enjoy your day at the beach.
Good beach, there are some waves but they get stronger when boats pass by. Water is mostly clear and pretty warm, the sand has some pebbles, not too much. Be sure to visit other beaches in Skiathos, this isnt the only one on the island.
Fair city beach. I dislike going through restaurants to just reach the sand, but oh well. It's not a big sand area but it has free zones and a shop/taverna in a ruin building. If you come prepared it's perfect for a horosalata on the beach 😂
the beach is wonderful and sandy there are good taverns and nice bars
Very walkable from Skiathos town centre. Worth the walk on a hot day
We spent one day here as the beach is next to our hotel. It was quiet and good to relax. The umbrella with 2 seats was 22 euro, all clean and with a friendly service.
While everyone kept saying to avoid city beach, we had no problem with it. The sea is the same as everywhere else in Skiathos - warm and clear, with the exception of smaller waves that bring some of the grass in the shallow water. The prices of sunbeds go from 15 to 30 € depending on the place. At the sole begging of the beach the sunbeds are 15 € but in the middle the prices are 30€. There is however no place on the sand to put your towel down.
