nice place, good service and wonderful collection! this place is really explain batik perfectly and display authentic collection. we are also taught to make a batik here, they are very friendly and patient! thankyou :)
Visited this museum during Idul Fitri holiday. Not a queue at all so once the tickets are settled, we could directly start the tour of the exhibition rooms. Room one gave information on 3 main types of batik; Rifaiyah, Jelamprang and Besurek. Room two mainly displays major patterns like sido and nitik. Room three has a more fusion pattern like a combination of kawung and a painting of koi fishes. The last room is the most exciting of all; we can have a little hands-on experience on making batik, either tulis or cap. What a fruitful visit we had! Do not worry if you get thirsty or hungry, the museum has a little shop that sells snacks and beverages.
Highly recommend if you like batik. Entry was only Rp20000 for a foreigner. This included a tour guide and your chance to do your own batik piece, either with a stamp or tulis (writing).
You must have a good local tourist guide alongside with you when you look at the batik collection in this museum, laid out in three rooms and sections. Or else all the numerous motifs, deep symbolism, colours and laborious creation process would likely be lost on you. A good guide would be able to point out motifs, colours and techniques on the tip of their fingertips. Most of the wall text are in Bahasa Indonesia. The museum shop is excellent as it retails in one location ready-to-wear and textiles from numerous traditional batik studios located in Pekalongan. Allocate time to browse if you are a serious batik shopper!
It's a nice educational museum, where we can learn about various traditional batiks in Indonesia. The ticket price is cheap. There are not many exhibition rooms, but they're placed neatly. It only needs to provide a guide to visitors from outside the town.
It's really2 a very interesting experience, exciting and fun. If you visit Pekalongan, this place is one that must be visited. In this place, we can get to know more about the history of batik, batik motifs, to learn to make batik using "canting" and "cap". Really fun.
My favorite Batik Museum. The visit was taken in 2020. The museum is located in the center of Pekalongan, so very easy to go there. The number of batik on exhibition is large, with brief introduction, it would be better if English version introduction could be provided.☺️ Personally I prefer Pekalongan style batik, the colorful floral pattern is an ideal symbol of the tropics, where I love most. The tour guide will explain the features of batik to visitors if visitors wish, the whole duration is free of charge. Thanks the kind tour guide lady, because I have been keen to know more about Indonesians’ batik, her assistance was of great help.☺️🙏 Visitors may choose to make a batik by stamping the wax on a piece of white cotton cloth, to experience the procedures of creating a piece of batik. It is a really wonderful experience, and hope to go to the museum again in the near future.
This batik museum is located on Jatayu street, Pekalongan city. there are many collections of batik from all over Indonesia. there exhibited materials of manufacture materials ranging from types of fabrics, types of candles, fans as well as dyes, both natural and synthetic. and there are also very complete batik tools both original and replica. inside the museum there is information about the origin of batik, the year of manufacture, and the origin of the production area. the visitors can also learn batik by being accompanied by a companion.
