Pok Tunggal Beach, nestled amidst towering karst cliffs, offers breathtaking views with its pristine white sands and clear blue waters. Visitors can indulge in various activities such as snorkeling, surfing, or simply relaxing to the sound of the sea breeze. This tranquil yet adventurous destination is perfect for holidaymakers seeking both serenity and excitement. The iconic Duras Tree provides a picturesque spot for memorable photographs.
Loved this pantai there was a lot of space to relax and enjoy the nature. There is area where you can get in the water but be vary careful as the current can be difficult to negotiate most times. There are a lot of vendors selling food and mats that make it very easy to just show up and relax
Hawaii B — Google review
Pok Tunggal Beach has a beautiful and clean environment, the sea water is still clear, thick white sand is free of rubbish. This beach overlooks the Indonesian ocean with fairly high waves and is surrounded by beautiful coral hills. The beach location can be reached in about 2 hours from the city of Jogjakarta through hilly and coral views.
Joglowebs. C — Google review
It was a challenge to get in this place, quite remote spot and you'll lose signal automatically. But totally worth it, beautiful scenery and white sands. Just be careful with the waves, kinda wild. It really looks like Melasti beach in Bali.
Ari N — Google review
Beautiful sunset! The path is pretty hard because of the rocks but still nice. It's not the type of beach you will chill all day long, though. Anyway, when we came there, the Duras tree was no longer there, meanwhile this beach was famous because of it.
Maria W — Google review
Bit speechless about this place, because this beach have awesome landscape view. I came at 5am and still dark.. Hoping I can shoot best light in the morning.. 😁, but nature has different way hahaha so cloudy there. I came to one of traditional coffee shop, after order I saw a man directly approach to our coffee shop from the beach bring an octopus and some fish. The owner of coffee shop says.. Hai.. What would you like to order from those fresh fish.. Hahaha to early for me for heavy breakfast .. I asking her there is other sight from the beach? She said : you have to move up to that hill.. Wewwwwww 🤦‍♂ hahaha closed enough but going up is.... 🤣🤣 Then we going up and taking lots of picture.. Till the cloud more dark. So this place is so quite place, not to crowded, average clean.. So fun in this beach. So if you stay in Jogjakarta.. Please stop by to pok tunggal beach..
Yo_ B — Google review
Access to this beach is hard, not possible for bus/trucks. Therefore, this beach is still not to crowded. And still consider as hidden gem. Sands are white but not too clean.
Hendra L — Google review
Great camping place! There are many stalls around the beach, so if you run out of supplies, you can buy there. There are also toilets there. Entrance ticket 10k per person and retribution fee 10k per tent. You can also pay a photografer 3k / photos for capturing your moment! The distance between the parking area to the beach is very close, so you don't need to be afraid of being tired 😁. Go on weekdays if you want to find some quietness!
Fakhri K — Google review
Was nice here. Narrow and clean beach. You also can see the seaweed in the side of beach, you also can pick up some of them. Having a roast barbeque with friends, a group of HKTDC Hongkong 2017 at side of beach and drink real coconut. How nice and forget hectic for a day. How a lovely day. Visit here and enjoy the green😘😘😘

Pantai Nglambor

Mentioned on

Beach
Pantai Nglambor, located in Purwodadi village, Tepus district, Gunungkidul, DI Yogyakarta, is a serene beach with sandy shores. It offers various amenities such as snorkeling equipment rentals and lessons. The cost of snorkeling at Pantai Nglambor starts from Rp 50.000 and includes facilities like gear, guides, lockers, changing rooms, and underwater and aerial photos.
beatifull scenery, amazing.a bit far from entrance. but you can rent a motorcycle (ojek) 5000 rupiah for one way per person. far if you go by walking to the beach.beach is hidden, need go down by walking. you can snorkle here, and cheap for snorkling. if you want to snorkling, please come in the morning because after 11.00am the wave become big and bigger.
Kristina D — Google review
Very beautiful place, polite and friendly people and also very affordable too, the only downside is the lack of signal reception with ALL providers and a relatively shallow place to swim. Entry ticket per person is 5k from the gate, 50k for snorkeling & swimming bundled with Underwater photograph & 35k for the bridge crossing. Additional fees are 4k for taking a shower, 2k for changing, 5k for ojek ride to the beach (you can walk for free, it's around 5-10 mins). Food is relatively cheap, 150k for a portion of 5 people. Recommended to find time off-season to snorkel and enjoy the beach, remember to bring a wetsuit along with GLOVES, the corals are sharp, and the sea is shallow, YOU WILL GET CUTS IF YOU SWIM WITH NORMAL CLOTHES.
Arya D — Google review
The place was cool! It has many activities to offer, even for a snorkeling. You better coordinate with the admin when is the best time to snorkeling. Fee for activities also wasnt very expensive. The beach itself is still clean. Oh, use ojeg to go inside the beach. Its quite a walk to go there.
Cahya C — Google review
One of the best beach in Gunungkidul. The access is limited, you can not bring your car here. You can take a 800 m - 1 km walk from the parking area to the beach, or you can ride your motorbike / take ojek motor (Rp 5000 per person). There's a snorkeling shop facility so you can rent snorkeling equipment there.
Ketty J — Google review
I visited Nglambor Beach 5 year ago lol but i will give a review when i visited that day, Nglambor Beach is one of beautiful beach in Gunung Kidul area, there's a lot of spot that u can used for take a pic ahaha also in Nglambor Beach u can snorkling, for snorkling u can rent the equipment there plus the documentation used gopro.
Aprizal N — Google review
A very natural dan beautiful beach i ever visited. Its places on nglambor distric, gunung kidul city, special regional of yogyakarta provincy. Easy to find the place by car, bus or motorcycle. the cost for entry ticket and snorkling is very reasonable.
安帝 — Google review
It's a good place for starter snorkeling. The area depth is quite low, so no worries of getting drowned. One thing that must be improved is signal reception. No provider is available in there.
Mirza K — Google review
A good place to spend your time with family and friend. Have a lot of spot to take an instagramable picture. Have a place to snorkeling too. But, too bad, when I got there the situation of the sea is not too good (sedang gelombang tinggi). But it's okay because there's is another good place at this place. We can test our braveness by walking at a bridge.

Wediombo Beach is a stunning natural gem nestled in Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta, approximately 70 kilometers from the bustling city center. This picturesque destination boasts a long and wide sandy shoreline adorned with coral rocks, offering calm waters perfect for relaxation. Surrounded by lush green hills, Wediombo Beach is not only a beautiful spot for sunbathing but also serves as an important marine conservation area that includes a protected turtle nesting site.
Had so much fun! The beach has a lot of big stone, so there are so many small “pond”. It is so beautiful, we had so much fun in this beach
Gabriela H — Google review
Great. We met a local lady and her friend there. They took us to a nice small lagoon, that was good for swimming and sight seeing.
Joseph C — Google review
A beautiful place. The beach is clean and watery clear. On this beach there is a hidden pool surrounded by a cluster of corals with a depth of 1.5 meters. This beach is also known as a favorite snorkeling spot for tourists. For those who have a hobby of fishing, in this beach area there is a reef hill that became a favorite place of the anglers to try their fishing ability.
Muchtar — Google review
Beautiful spot for camping. Perfect place for hunting sunset and playing water volley. You should really try sleeping under the majestic sky at night. Since there is no mosquitos here, you can enjoy sleeping outside your tent, accompanied by the sound of the waves and night creatures. Unforgettable memories.
Adji C — Google review
One of great beach in Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta. The road here is rather in good condition, yet pretty far from Jogja City, for like 2hrs by vehicle. Parking lot is spacious, and the beach is located below hill, so there's stairs toward the beach. So many street vendors, so you no need worry if you're hungry. The beach is still pristine. White sands, and the water color is beautiful. There's also a laguna, here, but you still need walk along the beach a bit far. You can swim here but be careful since the sea actually part of Indian Ocean and the wave and wind sometime so harsh.
Irene S — Google review
the beach is lower than the parking lot so we have to go down the stairs. Not too far but rather steep. if you are tired, motorcycle taxis are available for 5,000 rupiah. Visitors are not allowed to swim because there are more rocks and big waves. always use sunblock because the sun is very strong.
Naya N — Google review
This is an absolutely stunning beach. The sunset is right on the water. There's swimming and surfing, and the food there is very cheap. I stayed in a cottage only 50 meters from the beach, and at night I had the beach all to myself. The local people there are so friendly. What an amazing experience. I will be back soon.
Amanda L — Google review
Such a beautiful place in Yogyakarta You can see a beutiful sea from here. This is a good place for relaxing and enjoy a beautiful view. But there is a lot of trash in the beach when I'm come here :)

HeHa Sky View

Mentioned on

Amusement park
Restaurant
HeHa Sky View is a multi-level dining destination located in Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta. Unlike its counterpart, HeHa Ocean View, which offers stunning beach vistas, HeHa Sky View provides a lofty perch to admire the cityscape of Yogyakarta. The modern concept restaurant comes with a semi-outdoor rooftop area where visitors can enjoy their meals while taking in panoramic views of the city and countryside.
Good view, good atmosphere, loved it. Cafe, restaurant, and food tenants are available. There are paid photo spots but most of them are free. You can also try fun activities like the sky slide, haunted cave, and mirror maze. Imo, HeHa Sky View is a lot better than Ocean View. Tickets are affordable, pay for 25k to get in.
Shinta D — Google review
The place has a very chill vibe with stunning views and plenty of great photo spots. When I visited, it wasn’t crowded, which made the experience more enjoyable. I noticed some photo spots required an extra fee, but I’m not sure if they’re worth it. I think the atmosphere would be better at night than during the day.
Yoas S — Google review
If you love taking photos and enjoying scenic views, HeHa Sky View in Yogyakarta is a must-visit! Perched on the hills of Gunungkidul, this place offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the city — especially magical during sunset when the sky turns golden and the city lights start to sparkle. There are so many unique photo spots to explore, from the glass terrace and giant sky balloon to creative garden setups and airplane-themed corners. Every angle feels Instagram-ready! The atmosphere is vibrant yet relaxing, with plenty of seating areas to just sit back and take in the view. Whether you’re a sunset chaser, a photography enthusiast, or simply someone who enjoys beautiful landscapes, HeHa Sky View will leave you with both stunning shots and unforgettable memories. 📸🌅✨
Bo A — Google review
Another place to hangout with groups. The view is amazing on a bright day, especially at sunset. There is also a jeep tour if you like how the adrenaline kicks in.
Ali L — Google review
This place is an excellent spot for anyone who enjoys photography, food, and a vibrant atmosphere. Whether you're a casual visitor or someone who loves capturing scenic views, there's no shortage of great photo opportunities. From charming architecture and street art to stunning landscapes and lively crowds, it’s a photographer’s dream. The lighting, especially during golden hour, adds a magical touch to your photos. Beyond just photography, there’s so much to do. The area is buzzing with energy and offers a variety of activities for people of all ages. Whether you're looking to relax in a park, explore local markets, or try out something new like street performances or pop-up events, there’s always something going on. It's perfect for families, solo travelers, and groups of friends alike. One of the biggest highlights is the food. There’s an impressive range of options—from casual street food stalls to cozy cafes and more upscale restaurants. You’ll find everything from local favorites to international cuisines, and most places are reasonably priced. Overall, it's a fun and lively destination that offers something for everyone. Whether you’re visiting for the photos, the food, or just a good time, it’s well worth the trip.

I went to Heha sky view, which is in JL.Dlingo, Kab Gunung Kidul. I went with my family to eat. The place is very nice, and there are many aesthetic photo spots. And if you come in the afternoon until evening, you can see the sunset and also the city lights from the sky view. But if you come in the afternoon or evening, don't forget to bring a jacket or wear long clothes because the wind is strong and the air is cold. There are many food stalls, and so far, the food is all delicious. This place is recommended for those who want to see the sunset, city lights, or want to take photos and also eat.
Christenia — Google review
I've been here a couple of weeks ago. such a pretty place to enjoy. it's perfect place for those who like to take a picture (not for me tho), bc it's expensive, you have to pay for each spot photo and it costs Rp 20.000. anyway, i love the bumblebee 👌🏻

Our family decided to visit the HeHa Sky View during the last day of visit in Jogja. It offers amazing views of Jogja, great entertainment, delicious snacks and Kopi Tubruk Susu. It would be great to visit HeHa again someday.

Pantai Kesirat

Mentioned on
5 lists
Beach
Pantai Kesirat, also known as Tanjung Kesirat, is a popular destination in Gunungkidul for witnessing breathtaking sunsets. The beach is surrounded by 40-meter cliffs, providing a perfect spot to enjoy the sunset without any crowd. It's a favorite beach in Jogja with its stunning ocean views and refreshing sea breeze. The grassy expanse on the rugged cliff makes it an ideal place to unwind and escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
This beach faces directly toward the ocean with cliffs that make the sunset view really striking. The entrance is simple, with a small ticket fee, and the area is usually quiet, away from the city noise. It’s often used for camping or night photography like capturing the Milky Way. For those who plan to stay overnight, it’s best to bring enough supplies such as food, water, and extra power, since the nearest village is still some distance away.
Another R — Google review
Coming here is a bit of challenges, narrow road, slippery path, yet the scenery here worth all the sweats. I got wrong advertise on IG which said that this is a good spot to view sunrise, but in the contrary, locals said it is well known for it's beautiful sunset. We come very early in the morning around 4AM, nevertheless we still amaze with the breathtaking views. Note: since it's actually a cliff please watch your step carefully.
Edho H — Google review
The road access was smooth but too narrow. We have to walk for 500m to reach the main place. This beach is more like a cliff, there is no sand. But the view was amazingly great, especially when you come at sunset.
Irene O — Google review
The scenery is very good, neatly arranged and similar to the Teletubbies hill. Very suitable for camping. Highly recommended for those who like to see the vastness of the sea.
Feri N — Google review
i went to kesirat beach in the middle of the day, wow the peak of summer! but the result iiisss......wow, another hidden treasure beach here. We couldn't going down there, but its okay, just enjoy the breeze. be careful of the ants on shrubs if you wanna take photos at edge the cliff, kids !
Firgita F — Google review
Amazing! This’s not kinda actual beach where you can play in the sands. More into a Clift with oceans view! What a great vibes! When you visit wohkudu beach, just leave your vehicle there and go here by walk ! Pretty close! Again! The views is amazing! Wound love to camp here. For your information that you will not find electricity. Welcome to nature! The infrastructure is also great!
Wulan R — Google review
i love the view, the waves, the sound of the waves, the sunset, the cliffs, and the trips to this place. the best time to enjoy all of these is 4-5 pm. when sun went down, it was quite dark.
Naya N — Google review
Actually it's not really a beach. It's a cliff with ocean view. Local people usually went there for fishing. It's a bit secluded with small road, only fits for one car and the road bit rough. The parking lots not many for cars but adequate for motorcycles. The parking fee is about 5000 IDR for a car and 2000 IDR for a motorcycle. There are only 2 toilets managed by local resident who also sell simple drinks and snacks.

Air Terjun Kedung Kandang

Mentioned on
5 lists
Air Terjun Kedung Kandang is a stunning waterfall located in Nglanggeran, Gunungkidul. Nestled amidst the locals' rice fields and featuring tiered volcanic rock formations as its base, this natural wonder lies to the south of Mount Api Purba Nglanggeran. To reach the waterfall's beauty, visitors must trek from the parking area through a scenic trail. The site offers picturesque views and is popular for Instagram-worthy photo backdrops.
Let me start by saying this place is the definition of off-the-beaten-path. Most locals don't even care to know where this is. You'll arrive at the start of the hike down to the waterfall where you'll park your car -- bring water and definitely wear your sneakers. This hike down through the rice paddy terraces is no joke, especially in the hot, Indonesian sun. When you get to the waterfall though, you'll totally be amazed by the view. The waterfall itself is cute (make sure you go after it rains to make sure there's actually water flowing...) but the view of the entire valley is stunning. Then, be prepared for the hike back UP.
Aileen — Google review
The waterfall does not exist anylonger, we drove all the way from Jogia for nothing, fortunately close by there are other sites of interest but I could not believe that the waterfall was erased to make a brand new road. 😭😶
MARTINA C — Google review
Such a nice and beautiful creation of Allah the Almighty. It’s been a wonderful trip for me and my brother visiting and experiencing this fantastic waterfall. ❤️🌿 love it love it love it
Wilna F — Google review
Traditional, simple, natural ... Clear sign post about the location. Kindly keeper welcome and greet visitors. The parking area are located in front of cows stalls but the toilet clean enough. Nice place to take a rest before going home after hard adventure ... Don't try enter via exit way ... Its seem easier than the entrance way (even motor bike and cars could pass through) but then will be more risky to reach the waterfall ... Plus not get chance to enjoy the panoramic sceneries

(Translated by Google) Seasonal waterfall, only available during the rainy season. The waterfall is under the bridge, coming here during the dry season so you can only relax in the gazebo. Just enter, you can add directions if you want to see the waterfall. The guard was kind, let him know at the start that there wasn't a waterfall so he could still decide whether to continue to enter the place or not. The entrance ticket price is 5000, parking is 2000. Harga tiket masuk 5000 parkir 2000.
Zara N — Google review
(Translated by Google) First, access to the area is quite challenging, especially for motorbikes. The road that goes up and down for several meters is still two-lane cement. There are slopes that are muddy when it rains and can cause the motorbike to slip. You have to be extra careful. Then, access to the waterfall is also very challenging for those who like nature activities, but it is not for family tourism. Arriving at the location, it turned out the waterfall was just like that. Hehehe. But the staff service is very good. Hehehe. Tetapi pelayanan staff sangat baik.

What a nice place for basic hikers. Its only 700 mdpl. I suggested you to come here for practice before hiking to the highest level.
Katsummi M — Google review
Amazing hike! Heavy because of the heat, although doable for fit people. You can buy water in the little shop near the entrance! The entrance fee is 30k for foreigners. The path is very well maintained with signs, ladders with are bolted to the rocks, paths. Just be careful and you'll manage it and don't go up when it's raining or about to rain. Also super friendly people working there who explained us everything. There are multiple viewpoints and rest stops on the way to the top so even a half climb is worth it. Take 1,5h to reach the top (gunung Api) and 300m elevation. You come back down a completely different path, around 30min. So one way up and one way down because there are some narrow passages. We took a grab here (+- 1 hour) from yogya and took a different grab back. It can be tricky to find a grab back but we managed to get one within 15min. All in all, a really well spent afternoon.
Jorne W — Google review
Wonderful mountain and view, especially its sunset. The track is moderate with high cliff on the left and right. There are two narrow tracks that is dark although at midday. At the top, we can see Merapi and Merbabu mountains if the weather is clear. Also, we can find some hand-made wooden tracks.
WahanaGo — Google review
Great place for a light walk and hike! Located near Yogyakarta city, easy to park and pay for entrance on the spot, and you're free to hike on your own pace! The hiking path is moderately steep, some parts are consisting of narrow path between giant rock walls and metal stairs, providing a fun challenge, even for kids and parents. The summit area is an open space with a great view! There are also several open spots to enjoy the view, especially when you are not planning to go all the way to the top.

They put signs, so it's easy to climb up to the mountain. I got the 4G signals at the peak (telkomsel) 😀.

Be sure to be in good fitness for the hike up, and careful not to wear any loose fitting hats as the winds blow strong at the top. And the company of monkeys patroling the top are quite aggressive, so be wary of that.Otherwise, great view and cool winds.

Jomblang Cave is a rugged vertical sinkhole cave that offers the beauty of limestone cliffs, active stalactites and stalagmites, natural green vegetation, and a subterranean river flowing into the ocean. One of its unique features is the view of an ancient forest rarely seen elsewhere. The adventure begins by leaving the basecamp to reach the edge of the cave through various tracks with heights of up to 60 meters.
One of the most unforgettable moments of my life. The place is so magical, it almost hurts. The entire team made the whole process seamless and well-organized. Using pure human power catrol rappelling system, we descended 60 meters underground into Jomblang Cave. A little tip: bring a flashlight, it gets really dark down there. I came solo, but ended up making new friends along the way. All the guides were incredibly helpful and supportive. For IDR 500K (lunch included), it’s totally worth it. You can also spend an extra IDR 50K for two printed photos (optional). Disclaimer: The weather is out of our control, so plan accordingly.
Aintenaa — Google review
The path at Jomblang is a bit burdensome. You have to get abseiled 40m. You might have to wait a while until you are on. In the cave you walk 200m through the mud (no worries you get rubber boots) , but the view is absolutely worth it.
Marko ( — Google review
As beautiful as the pictures suggest! The tour is actually quite organized and on a 1st come 1st serve basis. 1 group consists of approx 10 people to abseil down 60m to the cave and take pictures. The ground is very muddy and rocky; may not be suitable for very young children.
Lim K — Google review
Tickets need to be reserved in advance - can be done through Whatsapp. The experience was great and the tourguides were superb at taking pics at the main attraction. We got a lunch after and its possible to buy professional photos from a booth.
Kája H — Google review
The group is so service oriented. It was a very muddy trek and we changed our shoes to boots just like everyone else. You go down a cliff but don't actually repel down. Then you trek through a cave where your boots are often stuck in the mud. Suggest bringing a head lamp and it's in the middle of central java and there's really no cool down in the cave. The staff carried our four year old when he kept getting stuck in the mud. Definitely don't bring clothes you want to keep clean! Afterwards we were served a basic lunch with aqua, ayam goreng and rice. Fun experience
Chris T — Google review
Oh my God😍 it was a wonderful trip. I highly recommend this cave. So beautiful masterpiece of God. And the way through the cave to reach that hole was incredible.
Aida O — Google review
Bring sandals. Headlamp is a good idea to keep your hands free. Cave is muddy and slippery. The Jomblang Cave Crew is great and helpful. I had an excellent time and was pleasantly surprised!
Nicholas M — Google review
It's unreal, unworldly, amazing, beautiful, there are not enough adjectives to describe how fantastic this place is. It's a long and a half hour drive to the caves and the last couple are on bumpy dirt tracks, you then change you shoes for wellington (plastic) boots and walk down to the cave entrance, where you are harnessed up and sent 2 at a time down a 60 metre drop into the cave. Then it's's a tricky walk in the dark to what must be the most amazing sight I have ever seen in my life. It's a memory you will keep forever

Taman Sari, also known as the Taman Sari Water Castle, is a historical site located in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Built in the 18th century by Sultan Hamengkubuwono, it served as a royal garden and retreat for the Sultan of Yogyakarta. The complex features ornate bathing pools, pavilions, and waterways designed for relaxation and meditation.
We visited this palace which has pools and water features. There are many photo worthy spots here although the steps going from one section to another are pretty steep. We enjoyed our visit here.

I visited Taman Sari Tourist Village and found it really interesting to walk around. The old bathing pools and underground passages give you a glimpse of the history and culture of Yogyakarta. The surrounding village is also fun to explore with small shops and local people selling crafts. It is not a huge site but it is unique and worth a visit if you are already near the palace.

We visited Taman Sari Royal Garden because we were looking for a place that was open that day — it was my second to the last day in Yogyakarta, and unfortunately, the palace itself was closed. I’m glad we ended up here though, because it turned out to be a really unique and memorable experience. It wasn’t too crowded when we went — there were a mix of locals and foreigners, and the atmosphere felt calm and pleasant. The sun was very hot outside, but once you go inside the chambers and passageways of the garden, it becomes surprisingly cool. Each section feels like a hidden corner full of history and charm. What stood out to me most were the many small pathways and exits all around the garden. There seems to be only one main entrance, but several exits lead into nearby residential areas or small alleys that connect to local streets. It really gives you a sense of how this place once functioned as a living, breathing royal space — private, mysterious, and full of life. Even though the structures are old, you can still imagine how stunning it must have been at its peak — with the pools, gardens, and chambers in their full glory. It’s one of those places that lets you step back in time and feel part of Yogyakarta’s royal history. A truly cool and fascinating place to explore — peaceful, historical, and worth the visit.

I have no regrets about visiting this historical site, even with the crazy heat in Jogja that day. It definitely still needs ongoing maintenance and preservation. Taman Sari was the Sultan's / King’s former water castle/bathhouse, I can only imagine how grand and cool this place was back then. Entrance is 25K.
Miranti V — Google review
Taman Sari (often called the Water Castle) is one of Yogyakarta's most popular and historically fascinating tourist destinations. Taman Sari Water Castle: Taman Sari, which means "fragrant garden," is a beautiful and unique former royal garden and leisure complex of the Sultanate of Yogyakarta, built in the 18th century. It is known for unique architecture, photo opportunities, and historical atmosphere. The Vibe & Highlights Architectural Beauty:The complex is a striking blend of Javanese, Islamic, and European architectural styles. The most stunning and well-preserved section is the central bathing complex. The Royal Pools (Umbul Binangun): This is the main attraction. It features three dazzling blue pools—one for the Princesses, one for the Queens, and a secluded one for the Sultan. A watchtower sits between the pools, from which the Sultan reportedly chose a consort as they bathed below. The Underground Mosque (Sumur Gumuling): This unique, circular two-story mosque is hidden underground and accessed via an Escher-esque set of stairways. Its design creates unique acoustics that allow the imam's voice to be heard clearly without a microphone. This is a favorite spot for photos. The Kampung Taman Village: The complex is nested within a charming, traditional Javanese residential neighborhood (Kampung Taman). Exploring the narrow alleyways offers a glimpse into local life, including small shops selling traditional arts like batik. Location :Located just a short distance (approx. 2 km) south of the Kraton (Sultan's Palace). Opening Hours :Generally open from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM daily. Entrance Fee (Foreigners) Approximately IDR 25,000 (Indonesian Rupiah). Estimated Visit: Time 30 minutes to 1 hour, plus time to explore the surrounding village. Getting There: Easily reached via becak (pedicab), andong (horse cart), or ride-hailing services (e.g., Grab). Best Tips for Your Visit 1. Hire a Guide (with caution): Local guides are available and highly recommended, as they can provide fascinating historical context and mystical stories that bring the ruins to life. However, a common traveler tip is to be aware that some guides may be insistent about taking you to a family batik or craft shop afterward. 2. Explore the Tunnels:Don't just stay in the main pool area. Ask locals or your guide to point you toward the entrance to the underground tunnels and the Gumuling Well. 3. Dress Modestly:As a cultural and former royal site, dressing respectfully (avoiding overly short or revealing clothes) is appreciated. 4. Combine with the Kraton:Taman Sari makes a perfect half-day excursion when combined with a visit to the nearby Kraton (Sultan's Palace).

I visited Taman Sari today and the place itself is truly magnificent, beautiful architecture with a long, fascinating history behind it. Unfortunately, my experience with the local guide was disappointing. He charged me 90k IDR (and I gave him 100k instead ) for a tour that felt incomplete. Instead of exploring all areas, he only took me around the outside, rushed through everything (finished the tour in 30 minutes), and explained so quickly that I couldn’t really understand much. Sadly, it made my first visit here feel less enjoyable than I expected.
Grace L — Google review
A historical place with guides for hire. They don't charge an amount of fee, you get to determine it. Along the tour, I couldn't help but imagine how things were back in those days. We even went to the ruins of the castle hidden among the villagers' houses.
Kalista S — Google review
Taman Sari, nestled in a charming neighborhood, offers a fascinating look into Yogyakarta's royal past. This "Water Castle" complex, though undeniably small-scale and showing minimal recent maintenance, possesses a unique appeal. The entrance fee is low, making it an accessible historical site. A delightful aspect is the freedom to climb atop some of the remaining gate structures, providing interesting views. Guides are present, but be prepared: ours, while informative and willing to take photos, was quite insistent on leading us to his shop afterward. We ultimately "escaped" through the gates, which made for a memorable, if slightly comical, end to our visit! Despite its modest size and condition, Taman Sari's unique charm and the freedom to explore make it a worthwhile stop for those seeking a less polished, more adventurous historical experience.

Ngobaran Beach, located in Gunungkidul Jogja, is a small and serene cove surrounded by lush cliffs. It offers opportunities for swimming and sunbathing, as well as nearby eateries to grab a bite. The beach is known for its exotic natural beauty and stunning sunset views. Visitors can find a Hindu temple perched on the edge of a cliff overlooking the sea, reminiscent of Uluwatu in Bali.

It's a Bali wannabe place, with temple and other statues in place. Really crowded with tourist wearing rented Balinese traditional costume during the visit. The paid toilet is well maintained and costly since it is privately owned by the warung owner. It is suggested to come during dry season since the location is quite a distance from Yogyakarta and the road is quite tricky. Though it provides beautiful view along the way.
Menis P — Google review
The beaches are beautiful, but be mindful that there is a huge crowd of tourists in big buses, cars, and the road is in traffic, the parking lot is so crowded, everything moves slowly. And by the beach, thousands of people. They make the temple and rent the clothes for tourists to take pictures, that makes the place even more chaotic. If you want to find a quiet and serene place to see the nature, this is not a good idea to visit at weekend.
Khải Đ — Google review
it's a beautiful beach in Yogyakarta (42 kilometers from the city). in other side, I lost my signal over there. you need a transportation to go there because there's no public transportation since the place is so far.

Two beaches in one. Ngobaran is a sacred place for the local Hindu communities. Nguyahan is the best for sunsets.
PhotoWalks J — Google review
I usually come here before the other beach nearby called Ngrenehan. This place has architectural influence from the Hinduism. The view to the beach from the cliff is great. Now they have artificial boat also there for taking photo direction to the beach view. I took these photos at 5 am, so it might look dark. 😁
Sherel — Google review
Love this beach! Not so crowded! So many amazing spot views! Located about an hour from the city center. Pretty easy to follow the google maps. Kinda Bali vibes but in Yogyakarta! Definitely will come back! There’s one “Pura” which already build about 25 years ago and still be used to pray. There’s not so many options for having lunch. Make sure you bring your meals box or simple move to another beaches nearby!

A good place for sunset enthusiasts. Various popular dishes with ordinary taste. Clean toilets and musholla (moslem prayer place). Free admission.

It takes 45 minutes drive from Jogja. But you will get dinner with a view. It's not difficult to find the location. The staffs are friendly and greet us properly. They serve good quality of food. For me the price was a bit higher than the average price in Jogja. But very understandable because we also paid for the view hahaha. I love the wedang uwuh. Nasi goreng also yummy, but the portion too big for me. The mendoan I like it so much. Don't forget to capture the moment and take many photos as you like.

It's located in Wonosari, Yogyakarta. This restaurant has a Javanese feel, as does its menu. The place is quite attractive, clean, and spacious. There are several buildings and rooms. There's a joglo house adjacent to an open garden. We were a reunion group of about 30 people, so this was the perfect location. There's a building perfect for our reunion. There's a prayer room on the second floor, with a well-maintained and clean restroom downstairs. We ordered Ayam Ingkung Areh, which was delicious and savory. Then there was Gudeg Daun Pepaya, which was also delicious and slightly sweet. Sayur Ndeso, which is similar to lodeh vegetables with Tempe, and Lombok Ijo, was a perfect pairing with Ayam Ingkung. For drinks, we ordered Sweetened Condensed Tea. Please enjoy the photos.

Specialist in Javanese cuisine, the restaurant is located next to Wonosari-Jogjakarta. The foods are good, with some uniques menu such as ingkung chicken, kind of steamed chicken. Personally I think the chicken needs to be more tender and the taste is a little bit ‘plain’. But overall it was interesting experience to try unique culinary of gunung kidul area

Went there to break fasting with fellow friends. We ordered AUCE for IDR75K/pax. Food is good, but the choice is limited. We ran out of the fist fillet, but it took quite some time to be refilled. It's just 10 minutes after iftar and most of the food is gone. The flies were annoying tho. Eventhough the place is clean and nice, and the food is good enough, I cannot say it was a satisfying experience.

Located in a busy road, walking distance to Hotel 69 & Santika Wonosari. Serve local food and a lil bit western food like spaghetti. Distance between tables quite close, and too much tower, watch your steps 😆! Taste good with fair portion. There are options of fried rice to choose (the way of cook & taste).

Nestled near the old Wonosari terminal, Pondok Makan Sekar Kusuma stands out as a delightful dining destination, particularly for those who relish grilled fish. This spacious venue is perfect for family gatherings or community events, offering a cozy atmosphere that makes every meal enjoyable. Kids will love the vibrant pond filled with fish and the presence of birds adds to the charm.
The food here tastes quite good, even for someone from outside of Yogyakarta like me, the flavors are very acceptable. The serving time is fast, and the dishes are served warm, with some even arriving hot. The restaurant atmosphere is fairly quiet, making it a great place for family meals. The facilities are complete, and the service is satisfying. My suggestion: choose a seat with good lighting and close to a fan for a more comfortable dining experience.

Kedai Lobster Pak Sis Timang is a popular dining spot located in Purwodadi, Tepus, Kabupaten Gunung Kidul, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. The restaurant offers a signature dish of beautifully cooked lobsters and other delicious options. Visitors can also enjoy fresh crabs and select their preferred weight from the live tub. The dining room is filled with scribbles from previous patrons, adding to the unique atmosphere.
We love this lobster place: live lobster, ask for butter sauce - it's heavenly. Friendly owners! Dining room was full of scribbles from visitors. It's quite big and seems to be the go to place of tour groups. We were there on Ramadan so we had the place almost just to ourselves. Call ahead and go straight there and skip all the touts - you might get a discount.... Would come again! Access to restaurant is through a small semi paved road, but it's safe for sedans or city cars. There's a jeep agent just across the road for short tours.

Really lovely place for seafood, lobster was fresh and prepared in two sauces (Garlic butter + Chilli). The calamari was succulent and battered nicely (Not to thick yet rich in flavor). Overall the prices are reasonable.

Food was really underwhelming. You’ll find much better in Bali in terms of quality, taste, and price. THE LOBSTER ISNT THAT GOOD OR THAT BIG. “seasonal,” they said. Funny how the price is the same as in Bali. The trip from Jogja’s long, and the venue isn’t accessible: steep stairs, not ideal for kids or elders. Too many flies, and people smoking all over. Not worth the hassle. Save your time for somewhere better👍

Live lobster. Very fresh. Reasonably priced. Preferred the sweet sour cook lobster compared to the garlic sauce lobster. Overall satisfying. Only setback of this place are the flies. Too many of them hovering around you and if not too careful, they may land on the food.

Our driver brought us here for lunch which is just beside the place to take jeep to Timang Beach. Paid 650k for a set of 3 lobsters cooked in 2 styles, a plate of calamari and some side dishes with rice. Lobster tasted good and overall meal was alright.

After a fantastic time at the Gondolla ride, we stopped for lunch here. As reservations were made in advance, the food were ready when we got there. The signature dish here is the lobster. The lobsters were cooked beautifully and taste perfect. All other dishes taste just as great, too. However, the coconut drinks that we had were of old coconut and not very sweet. Other than that, we had a wonderful and fulfilling lunch here. As many other patrons did, we left a mark by writing on the walls, too.

Food was actually pretty terrible for the exorbitant price. I ordered Spaghetti Aglio Olio and it came out sloppy. My sister ordered Chicken Fried Rice and it was a bit better in presentation than my order at least. The iced tea is pretty expe, 25K/cup for a tea bag quality cup of tea They don't even charge that much for sweet ice tea in pricy cafes in BALI 😂 The cafe isn't as well maintained as it seems. Those travel influencers glorifed it a lil too much so lower your expectation. The views are pretty but I wonder if it's worth the hefty price with mediocre food in return? The deal breaker, however, isn't all the things I mentioned above. It's actually some of the staffs' behavior. I overheard them talking about their customers behind their back in javanese thinking they wouldn't understand? I was about to leave and wondered if they were talking about me because some of their 'descriptions' matched our circumstances HAHAH😬 Not a great look for the business.

They don't provide a prayer place. While the prayer room on the side can't be used. So you have to walk quite far to find a public prayer place. The food isn't that wow, just ordinary. It only supports the view, the views like the bay are really good

Nice place to enjoy gunung kidul... its okay to put high price for meal and beverages. But please serve a good quality food, make it worth it... Find better Chef and recipes..! Their pizza quite good by the way... but other meals just average You did body temperature screening, asked all guest to wash their hands prior entering your property. But ridiculously your kitchen team were not using face mask properly, use the mask to cover nose and mouth. Don’t put it on the CHIN..! Customer service and food handling training urgently needed for the kitchen team

First of all, the food honestly was so-so. For local price, it was higher than average but still way cheaper than Jakarta and Bali for similar concept cafe. Actually I felt a bit disappointed. A day before, I’ve tried to reach them for a reservation through WhatsApp and Instagram, and they told me that no reservation needed. So I thought first come first serve. But when I arrived and chose an empty best-view seat, the staff said it was booked. I asked to give that seat for me since I already tried to book but they were the ones told me to come. So I actually had the right to choose before the one who booked. But they insisted I couldnt take that seat even tho they were the one who told me no reservation needed. But I didnt want to ruin my mood so I sat wherever they gave me. After one hour, that good seat still empty. So I asked them once again if I could take that seat, and they said the one who booked were already on their way. God! I was rejected thrice now LOL The person who booked finally came when we already finished our meals and be ready to pay 😂 If only they could have much better of solving problems and management including time, seats, and treat customer better, like, they could ask the person how long it would take them to arrive. So they could tell me like “you may take this seat but only for two hours from now, is that okay for u?” it would be much better 😊 but I still want to recommend this place if you come to Slili Beach. Oh, they only have limited seats so make sure you successfully make a reservation. Do not repeat my mistake 😂 If they tell you to come without reservation, please keep insisting to make one 😂 so you can get the middle-front-row seats.

Cafe de Slili is located by the Slili Beach in the Gunung Kidul area. It is essentially a beachside cafe you often see in Seminyak, nestled in West Java. When I tried contacting the staff, they suggested that we book a table by putting down a payment of IDR 300,000 beforehand to avoid not getting a table and other difficulties on the day. This is fair, in my opinion, as it counts towards your bill, but the staff member took quite a while to reply to me after I did my payment, so I was clearly a bit anxious about whether my reservation has been confirmed. Nevertheless, we decided to go for it and leave the argument until later on. After driving for 2-3 hours from the city, my family and I arrived at the cafe. I expected an ‘instagrammable’ cafe with mediocre food selections and taste, but I was actually blown away! Most of the food was really good, but I personally recommend the Pepperoni Pizza and the Tempe Mendoan. For the drinks I absolutely recommend the Cocosnucifera (espresso + coconut milk) and the Frosted Coconut Citrus. Both are super refreshing to have in the sun! 🌞 Note: Cafe de Slili is a bit on the pricier side, so do keep this in mind. + pro tip: request to be seated inside the hut on the corner table to get access to magnificent views as pictured.

This place is the best, would give 10 star if possible, the food was cheap yet tasty, and you could refill the rice (there is two types of rice, white rice and red rice). Also there is papaya leaf gudeg, lodeh, and sambal, all free! 10/10 would recommend

Lesehan Nasi Merah Pari Gogo

Javanese restaurant
Restaurant
Lesehan Nasi Merah Pari Gogo is a popular dining spot in the Gunung Kidul district of Yogyakarta. This Javanese restaurant offers a variety of traditional dishes, including red rice served with options like beef, chicken, and fish. The menu also features unique items such as stir-fried teak tree caterpillar.
The signature dish here is the red rice (pari Gogo) which is planted in the dry area of gunung kidul. The custom here is, they will serve everything they got in small plates in front of you, make sure you choose what you really want. The price they charge is per plate, so if you choose a small portion from any plate it will be counted as 1 plate. Finish what you have started. I really enjoy their selections of food, I love their jangan Lombok (chilli coconut milk soup with Tempe), their fried free ranged chicken, and of course their bacem of cow's stomach/intestines (bacem is some kind of sweetened but savoury kind of cooking specialty of yogya and central java region) If you dare; try the fried grasshopper or the cocoon of the silkworm. I don't have the guts to try it myself. But my daughter finds the grasshopper tasty just like fried shrimp

Oh I love it here. I love that the red rice is well-made, neither too chewy or too stiffs. It's perfect. The meal options were also abundant. Starting from the general food such as fried chicken, beef jerky, and veggies, while also the unique one, often only found around here, such as fried beetle, fried pupa (yes, caterpillar's pupa), and fried locust. The seating are immensely huge, that it could held many people. I would recommend this place if your bring your big family on a trip or you just being starved on your trip that you need to fulfill your hunger. Oh, also, it's pretty much budget friendly, so don't worry to eat enough (:

Average Fried chicken with red rice + some dishes they put on the table. Only paid if you consume them. They are cooked cassava leaves, fried tripe, fried small fish. Fried grasshoppers, sauted cocoon
Melody — Google review
A culinary destination on wonosari, they have nice place with spacious and a lot of table, spacious parking space can accommodate many cars. Located on the side of main street, you can't miss this place. For the meal, it is delicious, meat is very tender, their specialty is "sayur lombok ijo" a wonosari specialty. It is very rich and umami, perfected with sambal terasi. There is a big downside, in my opinion they are a little bit overpriced. They used to be serve the dish at lower price, but since they gained a fame, they increase the price but without increase in the dish taste. So they have an excellent taste, but given with the high price, it is just an ok meal.

A good javanese style eatery, served padang-style where you pay what you take from the served dishes. They serve red-rice variant along with dishes like fried offal, fried cocoon and papaya-leaves simmered in coconut milk. A must visit when in town. Only open from morning to late noon.

I love how they provided traditional cuisine of Gunung Kidul district. They gave us all of type of food there. We were familiar with fried chicken, meat, and fried crispy fish. By the way, We should order beverages separately. They gave us the menu, they would write down all of the drink that we want. I went there with my friends and surprised that we found the stir-fry of teak tree caterpillar as one of the dish. Eat teak tree caterpillar was a fear factors challenge, but you know what, it was so delicious.

A bit pricey if we compare to other local restaurants but it's already famous in internet. Mr president and Mr governor of Jogja also has been visited this place.

This place offered you Wonosari's traditional food, called "enthung" and the special menu were "sego abang sayur lombok ijo". Those were nice and the price was little bit high.

Cafe
Kopi Panggang Dan Resto is a family restaurant located in Jalan Siluk Panggang, Sumber, Girisuko, Gunung Kidul. The restaurant's main building is a traditional Javanese joglo house and it sits on a hillside 364 meters above sea level, providing a cool atmosphere in the mornings. The buffet-style breakfast offers various traditional Javanese dishes including vegetables, eggs, fish, and chicken.
A nice cafe located on a hill side of the main road to Cening beach. Serving local cuisine with options to have brown rice and tiwul rice, uniquely of Gunung Kidul. The cafe offered cozy atmosphere with cooling breeze on the hottest day. A beautiful mosque was built next to its entrance. Excellent food, friendly staff. Garang asem ayam is my favourite here. Will be back.

It's a rest area in between of Yogyakarta city and Gunungkidul area. We went there to rest for a while before going back to Yogyakarta city. We ordered coffee and snacks. The prices are reasonable and the foods also taste good. For the coffee milk, they use condensed milk instead of fresh milk. The service is good, the staff will gladly help to explain how to order. Very recommended for those who need to rest before continuing their journey to Gunungkidul beach or Yogya city.

Kopi Panggang is located on a hillside, 364 meter above sea level-so it's nice and cool in early mornings. For breakfast the traditional Javanese foods are served buffet style. There are many varieties of vegetable, egg, fish and chicken dishes to pick from. Traditional coffee and wedang (herbal) drink mix and tea are available all day long. One of the most important facility for travellers is the large and clean Al-Ikhlas mosque at the street level.

Nice view and delicious food. Some of the menus such as Lodeh, Brongkos, Garangasem and many more traditional food. Feel like back to village or grandma's house.

Beautiful layout with wonderful scenery… the food is traditional & healthy… don’t you ever expect to have instant noodle here 😂 pisang goreng sama bakwan jagungnya juwaraaaa 👍

Recommended place for your bucket list, when visiting Yogyakarata. Located on one of peak in Panggang, strategic location for rest or lunch time. Because this building place in the side of road alternative when you go to Gunung kidul from Bantul. For food you can choose what do you want to eat with buffet, mostly traditional food. Worth it for portion and taste. Good ambience also . . .

Delicious and cheap. Simple menu from the past that you may call 'Jangan nDeso', however it's very nice to memorize our past. The coffee surprisingly good. And the distinguish thing is that Kopi Panggang located on the peak of the hill. Give you the nice view. You can also by souvenir here.

Easily connected by taxi or train to reach the city. The airport is small with limited amenities however it's clean and organized. I used the domestic terminal and there was no delay on both occasions. Staff is friendly as expected from Solonese folks 😁
Suciani A — Google review
Convenient with direct train (KA BIAS) to city. Comfortable, clean with Javanese ambiance. Some find food/shops pricey, terminal could be more modern.
Deddy S — Google review
It is small but convenient airport near solo, central java. The terminal is clean, not too crowded, and easy to navigate. Check-in, security and boarding are usually smooth. Few shops and outlets are also there, thought options are limited compared to bigger airports. Transportation to solo and nearby cities is straightforward with taxis and buses. A calm and efficient airport for domestic travel.
Harish S — Google review
Small but decent and clean airport managed by Happy People. Staffs are very helpful. Food is also affordable.

International airport in Solo, but technically located in Boyolali. From the airport you can reach the Solo city by taxi, bus, or train. By train (to Balapan Station) you can book directly in the counter or book online, the ticket price is 7k. By taxi you can book directly in the counter near exit gate in arrival area, and for bus you have to go to bus terminal near parking area.

The airport has so many changes since the last time I was here. Now seems they having a lot of improvement including new boarding area. The concept is so good, the boarding area is in the same area with the food court, and there is no more glass wall to separate the area like before. The rest room is also good and clean. So comfy, they even have baby closet in it.

Small but nice airport. The building is clean in every area. The waiting room is nice, wide and cool. Not too crowded also. They have several shops inside the departure terminal and outside the terminal. In the waiting room mostly there are restaurants and cafes.

Yogyakarta International Airport

International airport
Airport
Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) is a modern and spacious airport that has replaced the old Adisucipto International Airport for commercial flights. The new airport offers a friendly and comfortable experience with its artistic design, plenty of dining options, and bright interior filled with natural sunlight. It provides a great view of aircraft movements from its floor-to-ceiling glass facade. However, it's located quite far from the city center, taking about 1.5 hours to reach.
Taking the airport train from Yogyakarta station to the airport and it took around 35 minutes. During the trip, we are accompanied by the beautiful view like hills and rice fields. if you will take this airport train, u have to book the ticket first on the web and it is better to book well in advance, if you want to take the airport train with the cheapest price 😉😊 When I arrived at the airport, I was truly amazed to see the airport—it's extremely large, magnificent, and exceptionally clean. What's even more impressive, you can't hear the sound of airplanes landing or taking off at all. If you're looking for something, you don't have to worry because, you can find many shops selling food, souvenirs, and minimarkets. The airport is also located near the beach and hills, which makes the scenery even more beautiful.
Azzahraa I — Google review
We were at this airport for arrival and departure. The airport is very large and not all sections are in use. It is pretty far from the city, so travellers need to allocate at least 1.5 hours of travel time. The wheelchair service here is efficient. There are many places to sit and wait at the gate.
S C — Google review
Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) is really quite an amazing airport. It’s not crowded with tourists, and mostly locals use it, which makes the experience smooth and stress-free. The baggage belt service is handled carefully, and luggage is received without delay. The shops and washrooms are clean and well-maintained, and the overall environment feels modern and comfortable. With fewer people, there are no long lines — entry and procedures are quick and easy. The staff and locals are also very helpful and friendly. Overall, a wonderful airport experience! ✈️👏
Nur S — Google review
A medium size airport that seem too big for the amount of flights and travelers that it handles. It is very roomy inside and quite efficient, probably partially due to the fact there are relatively few people using it. Lots of restaurants and coffee shops past security, but not one bar, which is fine. A good amount of chairs and a fair amount of charging stations. Decent free WiFi. The only bad thing is location. At least an hour and a half drive from Yogyakarta.
Bobby C — Google review
Yogyakarta International Airport is modern, clean, and easy to navigate. The facilities are new and comfortable with a few shops and places to eat. The airport is far from the city but there is a direct train that takes about 30 minutes and makes getting there very convenient. Tickets cost 20,000 IDR and I recommend buying them in advance on railink.com since they tend to sell out quickly. Overall it is a smooth airport to travel through and a good gateway to Yogyakarta.
Lydia C — Google review
My flight got delayed thrice here so we arrived past 8pm, i got stamp right away at the immigration queue and good for entry, there’s staff before you get out and into customs which will guide you to input your details on the tablet - a mandatory when entering jogja. It’s smooth. The only problem was when I got held for questioning at the customs police not by my baggage but because I was meeting someone here, and questions like that. I thought at first he won’t allow me exit as he took all my things and even my documents - my insurance and all. Luckily he did but to an expense of i almost almost get left behind by the last trip of train. The airport is pretty massive. - when I was at the train station and was about to purchase new ticket, my physical cards won’t work on their machines so I have to withdraw cash to the atm booth which seems to be 2km away. It would be nice to put up a booth just outside the train station. I was able to withdraw but the last trip of the train almost almost left me. A buzzer beater

The Glagah Relief art installation at Yogyakarta International Airport is a masterpiece. This stunning piece seamlessly blends traditional Indonesian motifs with modern design, creating a breathtaking visual experience for travelers. The artwork highlights the rich cultural diversity of Indonesia, making it an excellent representation of the nation's artistic talent. The Glagah Relief art installation is a must-see for anyone traveling through Yogyakarta International Airport. Its beauty, cultural significance, and immersive experience make it a memorable part of any journey
Radhakrishnan N — Google review
Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) offers a modern and pleasant travel experience, though it's located quite a distance from the city—so it's wise to allocate at least two hours for the journey, especially with one-way traffic along the route. Despite its remote location, the airport impresses with its cleanliness, friendly and polite staff, and a welcoming atmosphere that reflects Indonesian hospitality. Inside, you'll find a good range of facilities, including clean restrooms, comfortable seating areas, prayer rooms, and helpful information boards. The food options are mostly local chains, with some familiar names like A&W available even in the waiting area after check-in. There are also souvenir shops and cozy rest zones to make your wait more enjoyable. For convenience, YIA is connected to the city via the KAI Airport Express train—an efficient and affordable transport option. Overall, YIA stands out as a well-designed, traveler-friendly airport that offers both functionality and comfort.

Adisutjipto International Airport

Domestic airport
Airport
Adisutjipto Airport, located in Yogyakarta, Java, serves as a gateway to domestic and international destinations. Despite its small size, the airport offers good service and comfortable waiting areas with the aroma of freshly baked bread. The cultural richness of Javanese traditions is evident throughout the airport, providing a unique experience for travelers. Additionally, it is conveniently situated near various attractions and hotels in the city center.
Art and culture embedded in airport. With such a kind warm heart and also sincerely people. This airport brings new journey for all passengers. With out traditional dance performance we get wonderful experience.. Beautiful mixture art culture and people. Just come to solo and enjoy new experience

Reactivated airport. Expect minimum amenities. As of august 2025, only terminal A is in service. There's only one food stall before the check-in gate; and there are only a few fnb and souvenir shops after the check-in gate. No active lounge service is available.
Ben A — Google review
At the arrival section there are too many drivers offering rides to town.. No bluebird nor grab queue... They are not allowing to enter... I was kick out and ask to wait ouside to take csrs if using applications... This is very inconvenience and So disappointed.....there also not much food and shops to waits... Feels very deserted with plenty of drivers....

- Small airport, - too crowded especially in check-in counter - smoking area are inside cafe, so if you wanna smoke, you must ordering food or drink with expensive price. But, the waiting room was comfy and the toilet was clean
Ardiansyah H — Google review
Very busy airport with so little facilities. The airport is not big, that’s why it’s so crowded. Rather uncomfortable due to its size. You could find charging station, souvenir shop, lounge, and so on. But it can’t help. I think it has to be improved due to more and more people come to Yogyakarta
Ias ( — Google review
These days this airport only serves limited number of flights. The rest are moved to the new international airport about 50 kms away. This results in the lack of traffic of passenger in the vicinity. Like a closed business, the narrow passage is pretty dark.
Gole R — Google review
Very small international airport, still have some big brand fast food and coffee in it. This airport will operate till 2020 and will change to new airport, by the beach and 50km away from city. No sim card selling found upon arrival. Immigration and customer officer not friendly
Richmond H — Google review
The international airport in Yogyakarta which in my opinion is very small in size like a bus terminal. but the service is good, waiting room is comfortable. In here , you will smell something like a bread. Very taste. Many things make this airport different from other airports. namely cultural diversity and local wisdom of Javanese culture which is very thick at this airport. The saddest thing at this airport is the narrow apron so that many planes have been delayed to wait for landing, so the plane is circling above the Kulon Progo area before landing. The density of this airport has exceeded its maximum capacity. Fortunately there is a replacement airport even though the replacement airport has not been 100% complete. Yes, Yogyakarta International Airport is a replacement airport for this adisutjipto airport.
