Flower farm featuring vast lavender fields (seasonal) & a shop for lavender ice cream, food & drink.
Slide 1 of 8
This is a beautiful scenic spot to enjoy seasonal flowers. The farm is large, and each area has its own vibrant color theme—purple lavender, bright red, sunny yellow, soft pink, and many other shades. It’s relaxing to walk around and take in the views from different angles, each corner offering a new photo opportunity. Across the farm, there are several souvenir shops and dessert stalls, with lavender ice cream being a highlight. We visited in August when many tour buses were here, but the space is wide enough that it didn’t feel too crowded inside. It’s an easy place to spend an hour or two enjoying nature, tasting local treats, and picking up gifts to bring home. We really enjoy the fresh green and orange melons as well as lavender icecream.
Farm Tomita in Furano is one of Hokkaidō’s most beautiful flower spots. In summer, the fields turn into waves of purple lavender, mixed with colorful flower rows that look like a painting. Walking through the gardens is relaxing, and the views of the fields with mountains in the background are stunning. Don’t miss the lavender soft cream—it’s fragrant and refreshing on a warm day. Entry is free, and you can also shop for lavender products like perfumes and soaps to take home. A must-visit if you travel to Furano in July or August.
🌸 A Living Masterpiece of Color and Fragrance Farm Tomita is nothing short of breathtaking—a true wonderland where nature and artistry blend seamlessly. The iconic lavender fields, stretching endlessly in waves of purple, are the crown jewel of the farm. When the breeze flows across, the entire hillside dances with lavender fragrance, creating an almost dreamlike atmosphere. It’s not just a visual delight but also a sensory journey that stays with you long after you leave. ⸻ 🌼 More Than Lavender – A Symphony of Flowers What makes Farm Tomita truly remarkable is that it’s not limited to lavender alone. The farm carefully cultivates a wide variety of seasonal flowers, painting the landscape in ever-changing patterns of color. Stripes of scarlet poppies, golden marigolds, snowy baby’s breath, and vibrant cosmos form breathtaking “rainbow fields” that look like a living painting under the Hokkaido sky. Each section feels like stepping into a different garden, each with its own charm and beauty. ⸻ 🌿 A Perfect Blend of Tradition and Care Farm Tomita doesn’t just showcase flowers—it represents decades of dedication to preserving and celebrating Hokkaido’s floral heritage. Walking through its fields, you can sense the meticulous care behind every bloom. The farm also offers unique lavender-based products—perfumes, essential oils, soaps, and even lavender ice cream—allowing visitors to take home a piece of this floral paradise. ⸻ 🌞 A Place to Slow Down and Feel Happiness Above all, Farm Tomita gives visitors something priceless: a sense of joy and peace. Whether it’s gazing at endless rows of lavender, enjoying the sweet fragrance in the air, or simply standing still to admire the vastness of colors, the farm reminds us how magical nature can be. It is not only a feast for the eyes but also nourishment for the soul. ⸻ ✨ In short: Farm Tomita is a place where flowers speak the language of beauty, harmony, and happiness—a destination that leaves every visitor inspired and enchanted.
It was my first time visiting a well-maintained lavender field, and being surrounded by the fragrant purple blossoms was both magical and fascinating—visually and aromatically. Purple is a rare color in nature; when you think about it, it’s actually not that easy to find naturally occurring purple around us. Here, you can also try lavender products like soaps, air fresheners, and even ice cream. As for the lavender ice cream… how should I put it? It’s not that it tasted bad, but it definitely felt a bit unusual. Let’s just say that until that moment, I had never imagined what fabric softener with lavender scent might taste like.
Visited on 29 Sep 2025 and didn't expect to see so many beautiful flowers here in autumn. There are far fewer crowds compared to spring and summer, allowing you to really enjoy the flower field. Recommend visiting in late September or early October if you're looking to avoid the heat and crowds.
Charming farm! 🌻 Farm Tomita is a beautiful spot to experience Hokkaido's countryside and enjoy the vibrant lavender fields. A perfect place to relax and connect with nature 😊 But unfortunately, when I went there, the lavender flowers had already been harvested and at that time there were only other flowers.
Probably the most famous flower fields in Furano given how all the tour buses were stopping here. Very crowded with tourists. The flower fields were nice and well maintained but I cant help to feel that other less crowded ones nearby were more lush and more enjoyable. Still, worth a visit. Especially enjoyed the gentle fragrance of lavender wafting in the air
After hearing about and seeing Farm Tomita in so many Furano itineraries, we definitely wanted to see as well even though we went in mid-October. There were some colourful flowers in bloom so it was pretty but obviously not as vibrant as in summer. Worth visiting for a few photos.

Having visited Tomita Melon House twice, I can confidently say it’s a place that perfectly captures the taste and charm of Hokkaido summers. Located just next to the iconic Farm Tomita, this spot has become a favorite destination for melon lovers like me. On both visits, the freshly sliced Furano melons stole the show. The melons here are incredibly sweet, juicy, and perfectly ripe—each slice feels like a celebration of Hokkaido’s rich agricultural bounty. Whether you enjoy them by the slice, half, or whole, the quality is consistently excellent. The melon-infused treats are another highlight. I tried the melon soft serve on my first visit, and it was so good I had to have it again the second time! Creamy and delicately sweet, it’s the perfect summer indulgence. On my second trip, I explored more of their offerings, like the melon smoothie and their famous melon bread (melon pan). The bread’s soft texture and luscious melon-flavored filling made it unforgettable. What makes Tomita Melon House special isn’t just the food—it’s the experience. Sitting on the wooden deck with a slice of melon or a dessert in hand, gazing at the breathtaking Tokachidake mountain range, is an unbeatable way to relax and soak in the natural beauty of Hokkaido.
The melon soft serve was creamy and pleasant, though perhaps not as intensely flavourful as expected. The melon juice was refreshing and naturally sweet. The outdoor seating and spacious layout make it ideal for families and tour groups. While it’s clearly geared towards tourists, it’s still a fun and photogenic stop on a sunny day, especially during peak melon season.
Good rest/meal area from the sweltering heat of 40 degrees, weather that I least expected. This Melon House is a collection of eating areas which include obviously the melon, bakery, pizza and burgers/curry rice. Next door to Farm Tomita, but IMHO has sweeter and juicier melons than Tomita. The melon bun is 10/10 with a crusty exterior like a bolo bun but with the sweet natural melon cream. The wagyu beef curry is outstanding.
The best melon I have ever tried. It is delicious. They come in different serves, such as plain melon, orange melon plus green melon, melon plus ice cream, ice cream melon, smoothie melon, melon soft drinks, pizza with melon, melon flavoured ice cream, melon milkshake and much much much much more.
Melon paradise. Seems to be different management from Farm Tomita. A couple of shops selling there from of course the freshly cut melons, ice cream, bread and Japanese food. Free parking onsite.
🍈✨ Tomita Melon House – Furano, Hokkaido 📍 15 Kisenkita, Nakafurano, Hokkaido Not just dreamy melon ice cream 🍦💫 — but their bakery serves the yummiest melon pan 🥯✨ filled with REAL fresh melon 🍈😍 This is something you can’t find anywhere else in the world 🌍💕 Hands down the best melon pan I’ve ever eaten! 🤯 #TomitaMelon #FuranoEats #HokkaidoFood #MelonLover #DessertGoals #FoodieCanada #FoodieVancouver #JapanTravel #SweetEscape 🍈🍦🥯✨
Easily the best melons I’ve had in my life. Incredibly sweet and juicy. Also the most expensive in my life at 1,500 Yen for 2 slices (1 red and 1 green). Still definitely worth a try. The Melon Bun with Red Melon Cream was very good too, excellent bun texture (like a Hong Kong pineapple bun), though the filling could have been better distributed throughout the bun. Ample parking around the area.
Melon flavored soft serve is the best! Don’t waste time go any other places. Here is simply the best.

Farm with excellent view. Lavender field here is also one of the best even though not the largest. There is a nice cafe there too.
Small lavender farm. Not crowded. We visited at the end of July 2018 and saw a couple having their wedding photos taken by a professional photographer.
Not as busy as other lavender fields I visited, better photo opportunities. If a crew is present cutting the lavender, find a spot downwind for the most amazing smell!
We got here in early july. Flowers are not in full bloom yet and there are few people. Most of the drinks in the vending machine are out of stock. There is also a designated make up room for wedding couples!
Pretty lavender fields and other flowers, free to walk along. A few shops and cafes nearby. Good for a brief stop.
Amazing lavender land...I'm sure Hokkaido also has many popular places to explore in summer!
Not far from Farm Tomita which is swarmed with tourists from all over the world. You can take the photos with the plentiful rows of lavenders, marigolds, etc in Saika no Sato at leisure without need to clamour for space to take a nice photo. Certainly a good place that similarly offers the charms of what Furano can offer.
Nothing much to see on Jun 20. Should come here in July.

Lovely family who own and run the lavender farm. Well worth a visit. Great place to escape the large tourist crowds at the other big flower farms. You can also get amazing views over the fields to the town below.
Stopped by at the end of July to see some lavender when we were in Hokkaido. Unfortunately we discovered the blooming season was over, but it didn’t matter one bit. The lavender was still lovely as the couple who owns the fields. Great people and a recommended spot if you want to check out lavender without the large crowds and a more private experience where you can pick pesticide-free lavender to bring home.
I had the pleasure of visiting this lavender farm during my recent vacation in Hokkaido, and it was an enchanting experience. With great view on beauty of Mt. Tokachi, this lavender field offered a picturesque setting that left a lasting impression on me and my family. Upon arrival, I was immediately struck by the meticulous upkeep of the lavender field. The farm's commitment to maintaining the lavenders' health and beauty was evident, making for a visually stunning display. The owner of the farm was an absolute delight. His warm and welcoming nature made us feel right at home. His genuine passion for lavender and dedication to creating a memorable experience for visitors truly shone through. As a family, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at this lavender farm. My 5-year-old daughter was particularly captivated by the fragrant blooms and the opportunity to interact with the lavender plants. The farm provided the unique opportunity for visitors to harvest lavender by hand, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the experience. It was a joyous occasion that brought us closer to nature and created lasting memories. For those seeking a hands-on lavender harvesting experience, I wholeheartedly recommend visiting this farm, which offers a serene escape that will leave you refreshed and inspired.
Fantastic place and the owners are very kind! They also speak very good english :) Really recommend coming here!
Unlike at the other lavender farms in the area at Nanaka's you can also pick the lavender for yourself (for a very small fee). The plants are grown without the use of any chemicals which helps to preserve their natural smell. The farm is run by the sweetest couple who can also fluently speak English in case you have any questions regarding lavender.
The lavender is not fully blossom in late June. The view is still good.
Wonderful peaceful spot. The owner and family are lovely. Good English spoken.
(Translated by Google) I went there for the first time because I wanted lavender. For 1500 yen you can experience picking lavender, and if you don't have time and just want lavender, the owner will pick it for you if he has time (it may be difficult when the owner is busy). This time I went a little late, but the scenery was beautiful and it was great. Above all, the owners were kind and it was a great time to talk to them! I'm thinking of going to pick lavender again next year. I'm sorry, but I thought I could have conveyed the beauty of it better if I had taken better photos. (Translated by Google) It was a comfortable museum with a calm and quiet atmosphere that was not very popular. The staff were kind and gentle, and I was able to take my time exploring the museum and garden. It was a very picturesque place, with its atmospheric building and beautifully manicured front lawn. I was able to enjoy the many paintings and photographs on display by thinking about the feelings I had at the time when I was sketching them. Mr Okuda was very friendly and welcoming, and we found it very cool to be able to meet the artist behind all the artwork. He has so many beautiful paintings showcasing the natural beauty of Hokkaido, and explained many of his works. This should be a must see place if you’re in the area. Thank you so much Mr Okuda!
We took a leisure walk into the gallery and the artist’s home compound. It was an old elementary school that was turned into an art gallery. There was also an old chapel which you can visit. We love the tranquil atmosphere. We chanced upon the artist and had a little conversation with him. We can feel what he is like from his artwork and the space he has created around him. It is a space not to be rushed but to soak in the messages and memories of the artist’s life and his journey.
Amazing owner so kind and his art was beautiful. Love from Australia, please give this a visit!
The owner who is also the artist of the paintings gave us a very warm welcome and tour of the place. Pictures and video do no justice for the paintings, it is an immersive experience and you have to embrace it in person while you are there. There is also a relaxing garden for a stroll and you might even see some cute and friendly nekos.
It was great to meet and talk with the artist while enjoying his creations over the years. The grounds are very peaceful and the cats are very friendly.

It might be a good place for cat lovers. They also sell cat food. There were carp swimming in the pond. More than anything, the stones were quite fascinating, and while I was talking about them with the curator, he also gave me a detailed explanation about the stones in the museum's stone exhibition area.
