I took my daughter here as a treat instead of a prom . We stayed in a Hotel the night before just down the Road , it had a spa so this was an added bonus. The weather was really awful but on the actual ride it stopped raining . Lovely horses , friendly and helpful staff , The most amazing scenery and ever changing terrain . My daughter would have found the cantering on the open beach a bit overwhelming she has Autism So I asked if we could have a little canter somewhere else . We did along a Sandy path which was fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and will certainly be returning. Well worth driving up from Bath
Lovely 2 HR treck down to the beach. Lovely horses and staff. A little disappointed that we didn't get to canter on the beach as was advised and pretty much the reason for choosing this place. Instead we only cantered in the woods after a long walk across the beach. No explanation offered. For that reason it was a little over priced.
Highly recommend Ogmore! The staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They were even very accommodating to a large group of students! The horses were really well trained and high responsive and well-tempered. The Hack was a lot of fun and decent value for money with lovely varied scenery. Already planning the next hack for the summer!
Wow what a wonderful experience. My partener and I had been travelling along the coast and this place was recommended by the campsite we were staying at. The people guiding us on the trek were so friendly, and chatted casually with everyone as we went along. The horses were amazing, and the views along the trek were phenomenal! We were both beginners so at first were feeling very nervous but were quickly made to feel safe and comfortable. If we are ever in the area again we would not hesitate to revisit.
Booked a few weeks in advance and all went well despite what a few people have said on here. We were left waiting a little long, but the staff were very friendly and chatty. The horses and facilities are very clean and the animals look well cared for and healthy. We had a great time walking along the grass and onto the beach. There were lovely views and although I am nervous of horses they were experienced and not jumpy at all. They cater for all groups and types or people and pick your horse according to the information given at the start. Recommended for a tick off the bucket list!
Amazing 2 hour beach ride, also going through rivers, countryside, experienced riders will also love it, best ride in my lifetime & I am novice rider. Staff are amazing & look after you throughout the ride. Total beginner also 1 hour rides here.
Fabulous 40th birthday present for my daughter in law. She loved every minute and is goingback to ride again. Thank you Ogmore Riding Centre for taking pictures so she could remember her day. You went the extra mile.
We had an unforgettable time. Warmly welcomed by Rob, Ang and their entire team. A great atmosphere. Splendid views. It was the best time of our vacation. Many thanks

Ogmore-by-Sea Beach is a fantastic spot for anyone who loves rugged coastlines, golden sands, and breathtaking sea views. The combination of expansive beaches, dramatic limestone cliffs, and fascinating rock pools makes it a great place to explore. The fossil-rich rocks and ever-changing tides add to its charm, while the nearby ruins of Ogmore Castle and its iconic stepping stones offer a unique historical touch. It's a perfect destination for walking, relaxing, or simply soaking in the coastal beauty. The Wales Coast Path provides stunning views, and dog walkers will love the wide-open spaces. Just be mindful of the strong currents if you're thinking about swimming. Whether you're after a peaceful escape or a scenic adventure, Ogmore-by-Sea is a must-visit on the South Wales coast!
Visited just after a storm so sea was wild but lovely. Sun was shining and windy but exhilarating. Highly recommended to blow the cobwebs away
This is a place I visited often when I was younger and I was so pleased to see it is still relatively unspoilt. There are great coastal walks in both directions and also along the estuary through the dunes. Please be aware of the strong undertow in the river and only cross when the tide is well out. Appears to be good for surfing and sea fishing. There is horse riding available and it's great to watch the horses gallop along the beach and gambol in the surf.
Beautiful beach with an interesting rock formation! I went with the dogs and was able to park in the car park nearby which was easily accessible and not far at all from the beach. Lovely area lots of space on the beach. I did go on a Monday morning so it was very quiet which for someone with anxiety was great 🤣. The dogs loved it and it was nice to see the area. Did see some people on horses in the distance on the beach which was lovely to see but just as a warning in case you take your dogs 🥰🐕. Overall lovely beach and nice and quiet!
It was very windy the day we visited, making it too cold to fully enjoy the beach. Despite the weather, the beach offers breathtaking views of the coastline and remains a stunning destination with its expansive sandy shores and dramatic rock formations.
nice for a frolic around the rock pools. there is an interesting pebble beach. quite an untouched and undeveloped beach which has its own raw charm to it. not as developed with amenities as other nearby beaches such as porthcawl or aberafan but a lovely area nonetheless
Good evening, beautiful Ogmore Beach. The sun dips low, painting the waves in gold, The breeze whispers softly across the sand, And the sea glimmers like a dream untold.
Such a nice beach went for a long walk that was extremely pleasant

What a beautiful place! Very quiet and peaceful too. You feel like the time had stopped there. We did a picnic as looking at the sunset, which was such a treasure time. It may be busy for weekends.
Great place to visit, parked next to river for free. Had a walk around the ruins and then over the stepping stones and followed the path to the right that leads you to a bridge over the river. Please be careful on the stepping stones as a lady slipped and fell in the river and I helped her husband to get her out. You can walk to the left but it only goes as far as the two rivers meet a few hundred yards down.
I think you can get in before 10.00am, I arrived at 9.30 and the gate was open. The road down to the castle is single track and badly potholed. Park just in front of the castle on the riverside which can be prone to flooding. The parking and castle are free. The ruins are quite small but nice to walk around and good views across the river. I couldn't walk across the stones on the river as the water was a little too high but if you there are nice walks and horses on the other side. Well worth a visit as it's close to the main road.
Love visiting this place, taking a wander and some times crossing the water via the stepping stones too. Parking can be tricky with only enough space for about 10 cars, take it slow down the lane as there are lots of potholes and often dogs and horses too.
If you like visiting castles then Ignore Castle is a worthwhile destination. Free entry and parking are a bonus. It is a maintained ruin, so once you have walked around the walls and looked in the old chapel there isn't a lot more to do, other than cross the river on the stepping stones and take a few photos.
Been today to the castle ruins with the family and our dogs. The road running down to the castle is full of very big / deep pot holes. Parking is by the river just past the castle, but it does look like you are about to drive into the river. The ruins themselves are nice to walk around and take about 30 mins to walk around. Went to the river where you can walk across the stepping stones to get to the river walk on the orherside. Don’t cross as there was no way we would have made it with the dogs without falling in. Personally wouldn’t bother with the state of the road to get to the castle.
Little hidden gem. Was driving home and cane across this place. Perfect little place to stop for a stretch and have a look around. Owned by a wealthy lord. can see a good amount left of the building. I would suggest to drive cautiously as the roads become severely bumpy 🤣
Beautiful place. Free entry and free parking . By the stepping stones. Rich in history.
