When I visit Malaysia, I try to visit Kuala Kangsar to see one of my favorite buildings. Gorgeous mosque. Lots of parking. If you want to go in, ensure you check prayer closure times.
Perched atop Bukit Chandan, Ubudiah Royal Mosque (Masjid Ubudiah) is one of Malaysia’s most magnificent mosques. Commissioned in 1913 by Sultan Idris Murshidul’adzam Shah I as a vow of gratitude after recovering from illness, it was designed by Arthur Benison Hubback in the Indo-Saracenic style, blending Mughal and Moorish influences. The mosque’s gleaming golden dome, four graceful minarets, and white Italian marble make it a visual masterpiece. Its construction was famously delayed when two royal elephants damaged the freshly delivered marble, and further hindered by World War I shortages. Finally completed in 1917, the mosque has stood for over a century as a spiritual and architectural icon of Perak. Inside, visitors find horseshoe arches, Corinthian columns, intricate plasterwork, and a tranquil prayer hall. Next to the mosque lies the Al-Ghufran Royal Mausoleum, final resting place of Perak’s sultans, echoing the mosque’s grandeur in Moghul-style design. Together, they form a harmonious royal precinct that blends faith, history, and artistry—making this a must-see for architecture and heritage lovers.
A very pretty mosque from afar. And we did manage to stop by for friday prayers. Lets dive in! Location: Situated on a hill that needs to be walked in, the mosque is rather prominent from a distance away. There is also a burial site beside the mosque, accessible by the same path up. Parking: There will be slight challenges for those driving big vehicles but motorcycles are rather easy to access. Limited lots within mosque compound. Upkeep: Mosque is clean and very well maintained. Probably due to the nature that this is the royal mosque, it lives up to the name. Congregants will be able to enjoy a serene time here with a water fountain up front. Layout: The dome of the mosque is uniquely bigger than other mosques. Wth gold colours showing both inside and outside, it does show the level of interest in the chosen colour, making it look grand and charismatic. Another interesting aspect of the mosque is that it is created with the octagon shape in the main hall. We definitely had a fascinating visit here and would love to come again.. Do check out what we had shared to get a better gist of what to expect.
Beautiful, historical mosque. Well maintained. Comfortable and clean.
Beautiful and serene. Carpet may be slightly confusing at first (to identify saf), but it pays to look at the small details.
Beautiful mosque. Performed my Asar there. Ample free parking. Calming effect inside. MasyALLAH!
This mosque under renovation toilet but it has one extra toilet with wuduk's place. The mat in solat hall is so thick. The candeliar is so low. It has many big and small candeliar. The mosque is so beautiful. Come in! Full the mosque!

A very well-maintained gallery, i must say. A great place to learn Perak's history especially on the sultanate aspect. You can even stroll around the complex to enjoy the view.
The once Istana turned Gallery, is a sight to awe. In layman, this is a huge mansion with noteworthy architecture. The gallery itself allows visitors to learned about the life of Sultan Azlan Shah, the family tree, the titles awarded at home and from around the world, his love for golf & hockey and many others. Consist of 3 main building, only 2 are currently opened to visitors. No photography is allowed in the building though. Air-conditioned. Very well maintained. The staff are friendly. Admission fees and visiting hours at the time of posting are in the picture below. Parkings are made available right in front of the entrance. Reminds me of Gallery Perdana in Langkawi.
The architecture of the building is very nice and the environment and facilities are very well managed. Perfect place to learn about the former ruler of Perak; Sultan Azlan Shah.
9/7/24 the guard told us it is under renovation and will be opened in year 2026!!!
A must visit place if you visit Kuala Kangsar. Well maintained gallery, and if you are history enthusiast, you could spent up to 3 hours here.
Historical + Awesome Galleries + No photography allowed in the gallery
The good place if want to learn about history of Perak Sultanate.
An interesting collection of artifacts and stories. The museum is beautiful and well maintained. A pleasant experience.

Classic people and town, historical sites and great food, fusion and traditional delicacies
Lovely hometown. Great place for family and kids for photo. But definately lack of car parking and sidewalk for pedestrian. It is traffic in peak hour around 6pm. And there is need some maintainace too.
The fighter jet here is worth a visit if you are a fan of historical aircraft. My first encounter with the Phantom Jet which is a very popular fighter jet during the Vietnam war.

A very good place to experience making pottery with very cheap price(RM10). Explanation given is so well, either using traditional technique or using modern technique. They sell so many beautiful pottery including Labu Sayong. Thank you for the opportunity 🌹
The pride of the royal township of Perak, Kuala Kangsar for all visitors/ tourists to get hold of the local fabricated clay crafts/products to beautify your home or kitchen. The clay was claimed to be found only in Kuala Kangsar. This store sell assorted range of clay products commonly used as souvenirs during Malay weddings. Their prices were reasonable. The owner was friendly. This craftmanship may be numbered as youngsters are not interested to be trained.
Friendly, very affordable, wide range of LABU products. Hidden gem. Started by a very enterprising lady & helped by her son (see picture). Can watch live demonstration & see how Labu is made. The kiln is elsewhere. #artisanshaven #discovermalaysia
My little adventure. Nice in touch with natural environment, at this village you should not skip to visit here for the best Labu. And forget not Mr Rahman for his good treat.
Owner very patience in explaining how labu sayong is made. Good for kids to experience clay making - separate charges apply but worth the price.
A must visit place in Kuala Kangsar. The selection of Labu Sayong and handicrafts are amazing. The price is cheap and suitable to be kept as a souvenir.
Reasonably priced and with some promo items as low as RM2. Lots of handcrafted clay products, mainly are pottery. One may have a chance to watch the pottery crafted ... live.
High quality handmade pottery The owner is friendly and will explain you every about his art. Very interesting

Public open space. Easy to find. Am so proud of pokok getah because my parents are rubber tapper from felda, and we really work hard for our lives.
It's old rubber tree. Actually when I visited here, I couldn't find which tree is the one of the oldest rubber tree, because there are many old trees on this street. Anyway without someone's explanation, no one can recognize that this tree is important.
9/7/24 first rubber tree planted in year 1877. Already 147 years old now. A big hold at the trunk of the tree. Hope the tree can survive well.
The first rubber tree planted in Malaysia, estimated to be over 140 years old from Kew Garden in London by H.N. Ridley, one of the first 11 seeds introduced into Malaya in 1877 which still survived.
It is an old tree aged more than 100 years. Historic asset. No extra ordinary in appearance.
It's definitely one of the most significant historical landmarks in Kuala Kangsar, Perak. A must visit place if you are a historical person. Parking was ok by the roadside but only for a short while, if you're driving.
This tree is located at the roadside next to Pejabat Tanah & Daerah Kuala Kangsar. There is signage and some information about the history of the tree. Some early equipments of rubber processing tools are also displayed. I think whoever visit kuala kangsar should spend some time here as the tree mark as the 'ancestor' of all rubber trees in Malaysia.
The oldest rubber tree in the country over 140 years old 🤙🏽
