Great tribute to the great warrior. The museum has lots of memorabilia from the Pazhassi era
The museum on its own doesn’t have much to do with king Pazhassi. Most of the exhibits are the hits used in the old days, the coins used in the old days, sketches of various other figures and their tombs and finally copy prints of the kings list of Offenders. There ain’t a lot of history mentioned about the king, it’s maintenance’s decently.
Pazhassi Raja (3 January 1753 – 30 November 1805) was known as Kerala Varma and was also known as Cotiote Rajah and Pychy Rajah. He was a warrior Hindu prince and de facto head of the kingdom of Kottayam , This is a small museum and only need to spend 30-45 minutes to see all the stuff, those who are interested in history would enjoy.
DOV: 11April2012 'Pazhassiraja museum' is located in Manathvady, Wayanad. This is a great place to visit if you love history. It contains various weapons used by Pazhassiraja and his soldiers including swords and bows and arrows. It also contains different utensils used during Pazhassi period. There is also a garden outside where kids can play. Also there are historical details including the report prepared by Malabar collector containing the fall of Pazhassi. It also contains the place where he was buried. Full Day Recommendation: You have 4.5 Hours of journey from first to last - So if u have time split the same across 2 days 1. The memorial made in the memory of Veera Pazhassi Raja and its maintained by State archeology. Inside the memorial, there is an art gallery where the work of known artist Raja Ravi Varma is one display. Its open in all days except national holidays and on Hartal days.

The Valliyoorkavu Bhagavathy Temple, located near Mananthavady in Wayanad district is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathy. Worshipped in three of principal forms of Goddess- Vana Durga, Bhadrakali and Jala Durga, the temple is famous for the annual 14-day festival. The festival falls in the Malayalam month of Meenam (From 1-14). The sword of Valliyooramma will be brought from the Palliyara Bhagavathy temple at Pandikkadavu near Mananthavady by the chief priest on the first day, which marks the beginning of the festival. Here the kodiyettu (ceremonial flag hoisting) is performed only on the seventh day of the festival by tribal chieftains. The temple has many numerous rituals held during the festival include the oppana varavu, a procession from Cheramkode Bhagavathy temple at Kallody near Mananthavady and Adiyaras, a procession with tender coconut for abhishekam (ablution) marks the arattu of Valliyooramma. The festival concluded when the oppana varavu returns to Cheramkode Bhagavathy temple after the rudhirakkolam, a symbolic fight between Goddess and the demon king, Darika, in which the Bhagavathy wins. During the festival, the temple premises witness the performance of traditional ritual arts like Kalamezhuthum pattum, Eedum koorum (a special dance performed by orcales) and Sopananritham. The tribal dance performed by the tribe here using folk percussion instruments are another highlight of this festival.
