If you are driving, don’t park at the Guidance Facility, instead park at the Observatory (check on Google Map), that saves you walking up most of the hill. Amazing ruins and unique structures, definitely worth spending a couple of hours here.
It’s a beautiful hiking trail to the castle ruin site. It’s far from the ota station so I took a taxi to the guidance center. From there it took about 40ish minutes to climb. It’s very doable but I would say it’s vigorous course. Stamp is located at the final rest area not at the guidance center. But if you want to buy gojoin like castle’s calligraphy you need to buy at the guidance center.
Really amazing castle ruin and one of the Top 100 Castles of Japan. You have to hike a little to get to the stamp. A nearby museum has information about the castle's history in English and Japanese, as well as the Gojouin for this castle.
Great place for a walk. I am a history bug for I love places like this castle. There are still foundation of the castle remain enough to let your imagination run about what it was like when the full castle here. On the top part, you can see Ota and surrounding aeras. Definitely, a much if you come visit Ota, Gunma Japan.
There’s a 10 minutes walk from parking lot to the stamp place. The 100-castle stamp is self-served that no staff is watching. I guess it’s always available even after 5pm or before 9am.
I wasn’t having plan to visit there. It was just a random visit coz there was nowhere left to visit 😂 But the best part is you can trek to top tho they have a way for car as well but if you an enthusiast you must take the trek path. It was quite peaceful at top and the view is worth watching. Maybe night view from here will be super cool.

Nothing much to see here. Excellent for hikers though. The trail leading to Daikoin (written 大光院) is particularly a good hike

Great place to take kids. Various attractions for them to play on including slides, bouncing area and climbing area. Plenty of grassed area to relax and walking areas. Food can be bought and the curry is great on a cold windy day.
A park to enjoy the fresh air, for children and teenagers, it has a large car park, but it is recommended to go early on the weekend. You can see 2 lagoons with a diversity of ducks, with a path with plenty of space to walk. According to the season, it has various festivals, fast food, handicrafts. It has games that can be accessed with tickets worth ¥100 for children and ¥200 for adults, a good place to share parents and children.
This place is HUGE. Think of a park where your kids can run wild for hours and still not cover the whole area. The playgrounds have a charming old-school vibe, with long wooden slides, rope bridges, and classic climbing frames that remind you of your own childhood.
A large and beautiful park for kids. Entree’s free but some rides are payable. There was a large slider. My kids enjoyed a lot
It's a good place for kids, there's also a science lab. Kids can do different types of activities and enjoy themselves.
Indoor place where many activities are available for children to participate and enjoy. Very clean and comfortable. But outdoor playground is not well maintained and there are many spiders, mosquitoes and bees that can be harmful for children.
Located in quite place far from the town area occupying huge space. It consists of numbers of playing materials for kids as well as adults. Quality time can be spend with your kids.
Great family escape with lots of different playgrounds and stuff to do. Some small places to get snacks and a easier lunch

You can pet and feed tortoises here at 11 am. My daughter had a wonderful time!
A fun place to explore. I agree with another review stating that it’s rundown. It is, but that doesn’t take away from the things you learn and the experiences you can have. They have a lot of reptiles and animals, and I like the demonstrations. There’s even a little variety gift shop. I wish the snakes habitats were a little better. The staff are well informed and are friendly. You can even hold and pet a lizard and a snake. It was my first time holding a snake and I was very scared, but the snake and staff were nice, which made me feel relaxed. I want to go again.
Super nice staff which let us hold the snakes not on the normal hours. The rest of the place not that maintained.
It's a rundown place that's highly interesting. The place is actually pretty big, which I think is the issue. I wish they would downscale and renovate. They have a few outdoor places which are modeled after normal Japanese countryside places. I could spot several snakes there. It's really helpful to teach your brain to recognize snakes in the wild. The inside places are not very good unfortunately. It's easy to see the snakes but there's hardly anything else. If they would renew themselves I think this could be a fantastic place. I came to learn about poisonous snakes of Japan, as I go hiking, parks and to general countryside a lot.
Nothing much to do, few snake to look at
You can get to know the snakes better. One can directly see the snake eating the rat.
Best food and wonderfull.......
It’s not much to look at from the outside, but don’t let that fool you - they have one of the best collection of exotic snakes on display in Japan (along with iZoo on the Izu Penninsula).

(Translated by Google) I went to Serada Toshogu Shrine! It's a shrine dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu, the first shogun of the Edo shogunate. ⛩️ My research had described it as a very historic shrine, with a section of the old Nikko Toshogu Shrine relocated here. But when I arrived and passed through the gate, I was disappointed to see that the main hall was undergoing repairs and had a tarp covering it. What bad timing... Anyway, I pulled myself together, purified myself at the temizuya (water purification fountain), then went to the main hall, said "Nice to meet you, Ieyasu," and went to the shrine office to get a goshuin (stamp). But there was no one there. "Sorry!" A staff member came out and said, "Yes?" So I asked for a goshuin, but all they had was a pre-written note. "Yes, thank you!" So, despite my lack of enthusiasm, they're still undergoing renovations, huh? I was having the date written on my goshuin while telling him that my timing was bad, when a butterfly 🦋 fluttered in front of my hand and came to the corner of the amulets and other items they were selling, so I moved my finger closer and it landed on my hand, and I was like, 'Whoa!' Then I was handed the goshuin and told that I could see the main hall and the treasure house! So how do I go to see them?... Yes, pay 300 yen! Go in from there and have a look! ...Hmm, 300 yen, yeah, yeah... Despite my awkward response, the butterfly 🦋 seemed to be searching for water on my hand with its yellow mouth, so I tapped some water from the gutter onto my hand. It started making little smooching noises, and I thought it might be talking to me, saying, "It must be hot," before it flew away. Instead, we went to the main shrine together, took some photos, and then walked slowly to the treasure room, where I gave it some water and looked around the treasure room together. We also gave it some water and looked around the room together, saying, "It's cool," and it tried to climb onto a leaf a few times, but it seemed to feel comfortable on my hand. ♪ After looking around for a while, I stopped by the temizuya (water purification fountain) on my way out because there were trees and leaves right behind it. I stopped by before I left, and thanked it for accompanying me! Just then, it fluttered away. ♪ Ieyasu? No way! 😄 But it's said that attracting butterflies 🦋 to a shrine is a good thing, so if it jumped on me, perhaps it was some kind of message from the gods? I thought, "What?" but the butterfly 🦋 was there, so I changed my mind and thought it was good ♪ Honestly, I think 1 or 2 stars would have been the best. There weren't many things to see, and the service was like that. Well, the butterfly 🦋 pretty much saved the day, so I'll give it 3 stars ✋ (Original)

Beautiful temple at the base of a mountain. Occasional festivals and seasonal exhibitions are held on the grounds. Omamori shop is available, though only Japanese descriptions are available. Some of the buildings have large signs in English. There are two small cemeteries on the premises, as well as a small shrine to Benzaiten.
The temple grounds are gorgeous. And the temple dedicated and housing the goddess Benzaiten is beautiful too. It's also one of the many entrances to hiking trips up the mountain. Definitely worth a visit!
Lovely old temple . Very peaceful.
Outstanding place
(Translated by Google) I heard that this temple is affectionately known as Donryu-sama by the locals from Donryu Shonin, who founded this temple. Looking at its origin, the temple was built by Tokugawa Ieyasu to pray for the soul of his ancestor, Nitta Yoshishige, and enshrined Benzaiten. In front of the main hall, there was a splendid black pine called ``Garyumatsu'' that looked like a bowed down dragon. When I visited in late November, The beautiful ginkgo tree in the temple grounds The sounds of the Shichi-Go-San priests and girls having fun can be heard. It's a shrine for pets? now it seems. A coworker said it used to be a shrine for mathematics but I'm not sure. At any rate, its a shrine for fox gods and their statues feature throughout. Next to it is a wedding venue where you can have a nice lunch, coffee or tea, or ice-cream.
Spacious and gorgeous shrine grounds. Especially beautiful during spring with fresh green leaves against the bright vermillion. The main shrine building is very ornate. The various fox figures are fun to look at. Monthly goshuin designs have cute reoccurring characters. The design below is from April 2023. Designs are posted on their website and Instagram. There is ample parking available.

(Translated by Google) I went to bed hoping to visit a shrine in a direction I'd never been to before on Ichi-Goma-Manbai Day, but I woke up early. I wondered if the gods were calling me, and headed there on the highway. ⛩️ On the way, a low pressure system hit Saitama Prefecture, causing a downpour so intense I couldn't see what was in front of me. I wondered if I'd even be able to visit the shrine after all. Maybe they weren't calling me after all. But somehow, I finally arrived, and the rain stopped. I was thrilled to be welcomed back to Kanmuri Inari Shrine for the first time! ♪ I hadn't done much research, so I just followed my iPhone's navigation system and somehow ended up at the south torii gate. ⛩️ There was a visitor parking lot right next to it, so I parked quickly, bowed, passed through the torii gate, and started walking down the approach. There were kindergartens on both sides, and the lively voices of children filled the air. 😁 I glanced to the side and caught a teacher's eye. They cheerfully greeted me with a "Good morning!" I immediately stopped and bowed back, saying "Good morning!" with a smile! I headed to the temple grounds, feeling refreshed from the morning, turning left and right.♪ I came here without doing any prior research, but Kanmuri Inari Shrine is truly magnificent and huge! After a fair bit of walking, I finally arrived at the temizuya (water purification fountain), and looking around, I was surprised to see so many deities enshrined there!‼️ First, I thanked the worshippers for their welcome at the worship hall.🙏 To the right of the worship hall was the shrine office, so as a Kanmuri Inari beginner, I went there to get a goshuin (stamp) and ask for some advice. The shrine maiden who greeted me was also very cute and lovely, and despite her young age, she patiently taught me everything, allowing me to tour the grounds and pray in various ways.😊 After walking around the shrine, I came across the main entrances, the Ko-dai Torii and the Higashi Torii. There was a paved parking lot, and just to the right of the Higashi Torii, there were restaurants, souvenir shops, and a small tea shop. The shrine office is located on the extension of the shops and other facilities, and while I assumed that it was customary to enter from this side, I was overwhelmed by the impressive facilities at this magnificent shrine, complete with everything you need for Shichi-Go-San, seasonal festivals, shrine visits, and Shinto weddings. I ended up staying longer than expected. 😅 But it's also true that I was warmly welcomed, and being led through the south torii gate, I was able to greet the people there in the morning and hear the cheerful voices of children, which made my visit even more refreshing. It was a very satisfying shrine experience.♪ I'd definitely like to visit again! Really nice place !!! Its like me going back to edo period
Kind of slow and expensive for the variety of activities. We visited during the off season, so perhaps it's more interesting during the summer. Some of the exhibits seem to be in disrepair.
very historical place and very nice people or staffs
(Translated by Google) If you go around the Snake Center together, it will probably take about half a day 👍 First of all, the parking lot is shared and the facilities are located next to each other, so you can enjoy Mikazuki Village even if you bring your children. The green grounds make it feel like you've traveled back in time to the Edo period, and there are ninja mansion-style buildings, caves, and hands-on facilities where the buildings themselves are tilted. The female staff member's explanations were kind and thorough, so I thought it would be a good idea to go again. Although the fees are reasonable, there is also maintenance of the building (there were some abandoned buildings, but that also seemed real). I guess it makes sense if you think about cleaning. It wasn't too crowded and there were no foreign tourists, which is another reason for my good impression. The young lady at the reception of the attraction facility was also cute and I was satisfied with the facility!
(Translated by Google) We visited around 11:00 AM on August 11, 2025. The parking lot, shared with the Japan Snake Center, cost 600 yen. Even at this time, perhaps due to summer vacation, there were quite a few cars parked there. First, we went to Mikazuki Village, our main attraction. The Mikazuki Village set ticket costs 1,760 yen. Just the village entrance is 600 yen for adults and 300 yen for children. Since this was my first time, I purchased the set. You can visit the Karakuri Yashiki, Kaiigen Cave, and Fushigi Dozo as a set. At the teahouse and souvenir shops, you use Mikazuki Village's exclusive Kan'ei currency, which costs 100 yen per mon. We purchased 1,000 yen worth. Kaiigen Cave is an attraction where you explore a limestone cave with its mysterious mechanisms. We toured the Karakuri Yashiki with our guide once both families were together. The children who toured with us seemed delighted. We felt a little dizzy at the final Fushigi Dozo, but still had a great time. Finally, we visited the main attractions, Monjiro's birthplace, the windmill, and the inn, but there is a steep descent to get there. The moss can be slippery, so hiking boots or sneakers are essential. The exit at the bottom is closed, so you have to go back the way you came down. Therefore, people with weak legs, elderly people, and small children should always be accompanied by an escort. The staff were all very cheerful and kind. In particular, the female staff member at the souvenir shop at the front checkpoint was very kind, asking if she wanted a commemorative photo, and happily posed for us. Thank you! (Translated by Google) I went on a weekday. Parking was 600 yen. The parking lot gates are the same for both the entrance and exit, so I was a bit nervous about running into someone! There's also an admission fee and a separate fee for each of the three attractions. The combined admission fee for all three attractions is about 1700 yen... While it may seem expensive, it's definitely worth it if your motivation is to enjoy a run-down, B-list spot for a little something scary! lol However, it's not the kind of place you'd expect to visit with your family on a weekend, so be careful. Also, I think it's a bit tricky for families unless they're at least in the first grade of elementary school. It's not impossible to go, but the cave and the slanted house that makes you lose your sense of balance probably require children at least in the third grade. 💦 lol The footing is unstable, and pregnant women are actually not allowed in the cave. The cave's chaotic, eerie, and incomprehensible worldview is so mind-blowingly fun 😂 It's an incredibly B-list spot where you can enjoy an extraordinary space in a way! !! lol Just seeing the entrance to this house makes me feel dizzy. 😵‍💫 It's so wobbly that it's almost impossible to get in, and even when I do, I have to close my eyes and crouch down, or I feel so nauseous I'm on the verge of throwing up. lol The Edo townscape from that time is now untouched and dilapidated, overgrown with untouched grass, and the footing is quite rough, making it difficult for small children. So, it's difficult to go just to enjoy the Edo townscape... The staff were all friendly, kind, and motherly, and their personalities really touched my heart. 🥲 I hope they make a bold decision to reopen the cave, leaving it as it is.

The sweet shop had shaved ice, shiratama (rice flour dumplings), tokoroten (jelly noodles), and more. It seems they don't have baked manju in the summer. I'd recommend visiting Mikazuki Village, the Snake Centre, and Yoshiya Shokudo as a set. *Mikazuki Village closes early, so it's best to go there first. I rate this 5 stars based on what I’ve seen a few years back when shibazakura and a patch of nemophila adorned its grounds. This year, 2023, there wasn’t much to see, but if in the coming years they’ll bring back shibazakura, then I’d definitely recommend this place.
A must visit place when spring season.. free entrace and pet friendly.. love it ❤️
So many spots for taking photos, relaxing place and with friendly people
Very beautiful and nice place to have a great time.
so relaxing place..the place you can unwind with your family and friends..

Right next to the station, with a great little cafe ( bit pricey ) but good coffee. The building itself is great, and if I could I'd be there most weekends snuggled down enjoying the atmosphere. Didn't go in the art gallery but the library ( which is pretty much fused with the gallery spatially ) was great.
A small peaceful library with a cafe and state of the art building. If you're a Subaru fans, there are some merchandise on sale too. Ota in Gunma where the very early production and manufacturing of Subaru is located.
Very nice environment. The place can give happiness
A library and museum spirals into a spatial labyrinth, and interconnected volumes.
This is a brand new public facility from 2017. It has modern architecture and a large number of books focusing on the visual and fine arts. If you are researching art or graphic design, there are many resources available. There is also an art gallery, although there is an entrance fee and we didn't see that part of the building.
Great place to relax with a book and grab a cup of coffee. You can sit on pillows, chairs, and stools throughout the building or on the grassy knolls on the roof.
Beautiful modern building, decent Cafe inside, quiet. My favourite place to sit is the counter by the window on the 1.5th-2nd floor.
Love the architecture and design of the building. A cosy place for a good read and a relaxing place for a good chai or other drinks.

When I visited the shrine and looked around, I was able to admire the many huge trees for a while. When I returned to the shrine office, there was a bronze statue of Nitta Yoshisada nearby, but it was only at the base. I found out later that there was a new one in the gravel parking lot. The shrine office is unmanned, but amulets are kept, and first fruits etc. are placed in a separate container. I received a goshuin stamp with a snake skin on it. The first fruit fee was 1000 yen. While walking towards the station, I learned about the shrine from a sign on the road. It is a medium-sized shrine, and perhaps because it is a famous shrine, there is a shrine office. The shrine had a pretty nice atmosphere, with big trees growing everywhere. Although it is a famous shrine, it is nice that it does not have the ornate decorations and excessive offering boxes that are common at tourist shrines. I didn't feel the solemn atmosphere of a sacred area, but I thought it was a pretty nice shrine. Currently, the "Flag-raising mound" is preserved behind the shrine office in the precincts, the "Tokonoki mound" is preserved next to the toilet in the precincts, and the "Kunugi tree on which Yoshisada raised the military flag "Oonakakuro" and prayed for victory in battle" ("Kamiyo-ki") is preserved to the right of the front shrine. It is interesting to see them when you visit. The shrine is located in a remote area on the outskirts of town, but I wonder if there are many people who visit on holidays. There is an old parking lot with wavy asphalt in front of the torii gate, and a new gravel parking lot in front of the newly built (reconstructed) "Nitta Yoshisada Statue." I visited on a weekday, so the parking lot was empty. Incidentally, this reconstructed statue of Yoshisada was reconstructed after the bronze statue (only the pedestal remains) that was stolen from the left of the Shinbashi Bridge in the temple grounds. I found the drink vending machine in front of the restrooms in the temple grounds strange, but the statue of Yoshisada painted on it is actually the statue of Yoshisada before it was stolen. Going through the first torii gate, there is the meaningful "Shinbashi Bridge." Incidentally, just before that and to the left, there is a monument commemorating the 650th anniversary of Nitta Yoshisada's uprising, written by Yasuhiro Nakasone, the 71st, 72nd, and 73rd Prime Minister of Japan, and the pedestal of the bronze statue of Yoshisada. Crossing the Shinbashi Bridge, there is the second torii gate. By the way, after passing the second torii gate, on the right, there is a monument written by the 67th Prime Minister of Japan, Fukuda Takeo, which reads "The place where Nitta Yoshisada and his clan raised their army." ... This may be an unnecessary addition, but I felt that this was a meaningful and important place for the people of Joshu (Gunma). ... Just past the second torii gate, there is the third torii gate, and after passing the "Kamiyogi" on the right, there is the worship hall. On both sides of the worship hall, three sake barrels from "Taiheiki no Sato" were dedicated. This was very moving. By the way, when I looked up Yamazaki Sake Brewery, which was written on this sake barrel, I found out that it is located 5 km south from here, less than 10 minutes by car. I wanted to go there. I'll go next time! 《Visited on June 15, 2023》 (Original)

As expected from Gunma, the country of clay figures, the first thing you'll see is a display of clay figures. I thought that most of the clay displayed here had been restored and restored. Next, there is an exhibit related to Yoshisada Nitta, who is said to have overthrown the Shogunate in just 15 days. In addition, Chorakuji Temple, which is located right next to this place, was protected by the Tokugawa Shogunate during the Edo period, and the priest Tenkai, who is famous for founding Kan'eiji Temple, changed the sect from Rinzai to Tendai. After that, it became a large temple with over 700 sub-temples. Since the Meiji era, there has been a separation of Buddhism and Shintoism, and it has completely declined. 【overview】 Ota City is home to the Nitta Manor Ruins, a nationally designated historical site consisting of 11 ruins related to the Nitta clan's manor, Nitta Manor. The Nitta-sho Historical Museum stores many materials, including valuable cultural properties from the adjacent Choraku-ji and Tosho-gu shrines that make up the Nitta-sho ruins, as well as ancient tombs and clay clay figures that tell the rich history of Ota City.・It is on display. Valuable items, such as hanging scrolls from the Chorakuji Temple collection, are also on display. A special exhibition is being held to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of the war, though the space is small. Photography is permitted only in the armor worn in the filming of the historical drama "Taiheiki," but photography of anything else is prohibited. Driving south takes you to the Shibusawa Eiichi Memorial Museum, whose portrait appears on the 10,000 yen bill, and Nakanoya, the birthplace of Shibusawa Eiichi. The haniwa clay figures are amazing. For some reason, are there so many ancient tombs in Saitama and Gunma? Tokugawa is not of the Nitta Genji clan! If he wasn't of the Genji clan, he couldn't become Shogun, so they forced him to be of the Nitta Genji clan. The history museum had exhibits related to the life of Lord Yoshisada, as well as clay figurines excavated from the vicinity of Nitta-so. The lawn garden in front of the museum was also spacious. Next door was a Toshogu shrine called Serada Toshogu Shrine, which was dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu. I did some research and found that it was built in 1644 by order of the third shogun Iemitsu, by moving the main building of Nikko Toshogu Shrine. If you think about it, this is the historic Toshogu Shrine. Beautiful walk along an ancient burial mound. Some of the artifacts that were excavated here can be seen on display in the Gunma Prefectural Musuem in Takasaki.
(Translated by Google) Part of a long-shaped sarcophagus, one of only two in eastern Japan, was said to have been seen before, but it could not be confirmed as it seemed to have been buried under the accumulation of fallen leaves🍂. Still, it is the largest keyhole-shaped tumulus in eastern Japan! ️ I would like it to be fixed a little more It was difficult to climb to the rear circle because my feet were slippery due to fallen leaves ⚠️💦 (Original)
(Translated by Google) access The parking lot is available on part of the road along the Tobu Koizumi Line, and there is even a section for buses. However, there is no guide on how to get to the ancient tomb. If you walk in the direction of the eastern overpass, go around the residential area and enter the inner moat of the tumulus from the path called Mezuka Tenmangu Shrine Sando, you will find a ridged path and stairs leading up to the tumulus (shrine) through a torii gate. By the way, there is also a route similar to a beast trail that takes you from the parking lot to the burial mound in the shortest possible time, and if you go through it, you can climb up the slope where the paving stones are exposed. Recommended points It is the largest in eastern Japan and ranks 28th in Japan as a whole. Although it has not been maintained at all and has not been turned into a tourist destination, it remains as it is and retains its keyhole-shaped tumulus shape. The inner moat has also remained undeveloped, so its shape can be clearly seen from the air. (The end of the rear circle is cut off by the road) When you climb up, you can clearly see the three tiers of the tomb, especially the front part, and above all, although there are a lot of fallen leaves, the tomb is easy to walk around. You can also see paving stones in some parts. There is no need to turn it into a tourist spot and restore it beautifully, but I feel like it should be maintained a little more. I believe that the large tumulus remains in its natural shape and has high historical value.

It is the largest tomb in eastern Japan, and the only one in eastern Japan with a mound length of over 200m. A long-box-shaped stone coffin was used. A long-box-shaped stone coffin is unique to the tombs of the kings of the Kinai region. The person buried in the tomb is thought to have had strong ties to the Yamato royal authority. It is estimated to have been built in the mid-5th century. At that time, China had two dynasties, one in the north and one in the south, and the "Five Kings of Wa" sent envoys to the Southern Dynasty. The person buried in the tomb may have had a connection with the Five Kings of Wa. Tenjinyama Tomb is designated as a national historic site. The mound was completely covered with trees. It seems that many people would not realize that it was a tomb even if they saw it. I visited the tomb early in the morning. When I climbed to the top of the mound, all I could hear was the sound of the branches rustling in the wind and the chirping of birds. It felt like I was in a rural area.

To be honest, it is in its natural state, but to be honest, because it was left alone, the burial mound has become a splendid thicket, with well-trodden paths, and lots of dead leaves and acorns strewn about. Akagi-doshi blows steadily past the winter-dead mounds. There is a torii gate on the east side, and a little above it is a wooden building that looks like a shrine. On the trunk of a miscellaneous tree at the highest point of the burial mound, there is a small sign indicating Mt. Tenjin. Since it's so large, once you step into the wooded area, it feels like you're climbing a mountain. There is no information board either. You can climb the tomb, but it's not immediately clear where to enter. You have to walk a little from the private parking lot Please check Google Maps before coming. I think Gunma Prefecture should develop and promote more places like this (not just kofun). You can see the kofun from the parking lot, but farmland blocks the way, so you'll need to take a slight detour. You'll pass through a newly developed residential area on the way. There were many no parking signs along the way. As the largest, it really is huge. It is shaped like a small mountain. With large trees growing there, it feels like walking through a forest. As a result, there are lots of insects flying around, so it's a good idea to use insect repellent depending on the season. A Tenmangu shrine is enshrined in the center. Roofing stones can be seen in various places.
