J ust spent a half day at Blue Hole and honestly, it was super chill. The water’s insanely clear and cold—in a refreshing way—and those rope swings? So much fun. It’s got that classic Texas Hill Country vibe, with huge trees and that laid-back energy. Not too crowded either, which made it even better for just laying out or floating around. The hiking trails were peaceful and easy to follow. Perfect spot to unplug, cool off, and just enjoy some nature without feeling too remote. Definitely coming back. The swimming area was really well maintained and the grassy lawn gave off major picnic-and-nap energy. It had a good mix of families, friend groups, and solo folks just doing their own thing. You do need a reservation to swim during the season, but it’s 100% worth it. The walk from parking to the water is short and scenic. Everything just felt really easy and peaceful. If you’re looking for a low-key nature day with some Texas charm, this is the move.
A truly beautiful place with incredible nature. Unfortunately, we visited right after a period of flooding and heavy rain. The water was not its usual blue color but rather green, and swimming was not allowed at the time. Hopefully, next time we will get to experience its full beauty. That said, we still enjoyed the peacefulness and solitude of nature, especially since there were very few people around even though it was the weekend
Blue Hole is absolutely beautiful! Nature is so serene. The water feels amazing, especially on a hot summer day. The water is so clean and refreshing. The way the trees line the water allows for a lot of shade while in water. Such a nice place to visit!
An absolute must do! I walked from town taking the nature trail which added some beautiful views of the creek lined with cypress trees! When getting to the park, Heidi was so incredibly welcoming, informative and was a great introduction to the magic that the blue hole provides! There are multiple trails to enjoy but be sure to stop by the blue hole and take a swim if in season!
Best swimming hole I’ve ever been to. Had such a good time even though I sadly messed up and only got the half day pass rather than buying both for the full day, still such a good time. The water is the perfect temperature, cold at first but stays cold even when you get used to it. Everyone was nice and there was so much room to hang. Deff won’t forget the Canopy next time we come.
The water is crystal clear, refreshing, and perfect for swimming. The surrounding nature is well maintained, with plenty of shaded areas to relax. Everything is very well organized – from booking to entry, it all went smoothly. I especially loved the calm, peaceful atmosphere, far away from any hustle and bustle. A must-visit if you’re in the area!
Absolutely gorgeous place!! The water is beautiful and cold (really cold since it’s spring fed). The little yard they have is well kept and has umbrellas for some shade in the warm months. No alcohol or smoking allowed, no pets either. There is some shallower parts, but most of it is pretty deep. They have life jackets available, free of charge. They also have a some other items available for sale like towels, floaties, water proof phone cases, shirts and hats, a vending machine with drinks. Also, you have to have a reservation before you get in!! You pay online! There are some rope swings as well and ladders at multiple points to assist you getting out. I rank this place 10/10! Will definitely visit again and again!
This place is incredible. Wimberley TX is magical. Loved the experience. Hoping to come back next year again. Can’t wait.

Jacob’s Well Natural Area is worth a trip! Short hike to the Well but wear sturdy shoes. I took a free outdoor yoga class (last one) but hoping they’ll offer again next summer. There’s quite a bit to explore on the property!
⚠️ Research ahead of time if they are allowing swimming. This would be a phenomenal place if the water was higher. The water level has been low due to a 3 year long drought according to one of the park rangers. Unfortunately that means no swimming and a dry creek bed. The park had nice hiking trails and really interesting master gardeners' demo gardens to check out. The park rangers were kind and informative. I would have given a 5-star rating if we could have experienced swimming there, but this is absolutely no fault to the park itself. Cypress Falls Swimming Hole is nearby if you need to take a dip but it is only open Thursday-Sunday Visited on May 12, 2025 Reviewed on May 13, 2025
We were so sad that the water levels were such that no swimming was allowed, but still a beautiful place to visit. I definitely recommend hydrating well beforehand and taking some water with you as it doesn't take long on the trails to get overheated. If you're going to visit, know that no family pets are allowed on the trails or at the well. Even though you can't swim there's still some fun stuff for the family to do. They have a natural human sun dial, a meditation walk, an area for kids to build and use their imagination with various pipes etc, and then plenty of beautiful sites to see and take photos. I hope to visit again when water levels are restored one day and take the family swimming at Jacob's Well!
The creek around the well is dry at this point. Swimming is strictly prohibited. In addition to signs, the workers approached us with a verbal warning on the way to the well and then literally ran in fear that we would be swimming. I say the pictures on the web are highly exaggerated. The well itself is no more than 6 feet wide and maybe 8 feet long at the most. The sides are clearly overgrown with eel. Idk. It’s interesting if you are in the area but it’s not worth a special trip to it. Also, it is apparently in a chain of underwater caverns that are over a mile long.
Beautiful park. Do plan ahead and buy tickets to swim if you want to swim. Information is on the brochure posted. The garden and labyrinth were highlights also. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
Great park for hiking. With the drought water is too low to swim. But if you're looking for an easy nature hike, this is a good park
Less than 10-minute walk from parking lot … No swimming/wading in August 2025… shallow water tiday - blazing Texas sun 🥵 We’ll be back in spring … maybe better then 😊😄 but I enjoy hearing crickets and birds! 🦅
Very nice hiking trails and view of narrow hole in the ground full of water...interesting nature trails with good birdwatching. Lots of Painted Bunting, Carolina Chickadees, Black Crested Titmice, and even Woodhouse's Scrub Jay.

Beautiful area. I was quite surprised how big everything seemed. Pictures don't do this place justice. It's definitely worth the trip. It was only a 1.5 hour trip from Austin with traffic. Beautiful scenery along the way. Wish I had more time to explore. The little picnic area is nice but the views aren't so great with the fence and all.
The drive through Devils Backbone was beautiful and scenic as described. When you arrive to the picnic/rest area spot, you'll come across a serene and sombering chain-linked fence made up of handmade items from hundreds if not thousands of loved ones memorializing the life once lived. It's a beautiful reminder of those lossed and for those of us still here to continue living our best every day.
Devil’s Backbone is a beautiful scenic spot nestled in the hills near Canyon Lake, Wimberley, and San Marcos. It’s a peaceful overlook with benches, shaded areas, and spots for barbecue—perfect for a casual picnic or just a relaxing break during a drive. There’s a unique memorial fence where people leave personal items and crosses, giving the place a quiet, reflective vibe. I usually go in the evening or at night—it’s a great place to unwind, think, or just hang out with friends, play some music, and talk. Definitely one of my favorite chill spots around San Marcos.
What a beautiful place to stop and take in what Texas is really all about. Texas hill country for miles and miles. The memorials are just a small part of the beautiful scenery.
3.5 This is man made shrine on the side of the road. There are a few picnic tables near so you can sit and enjoy the somewhat obstructed view. There is a lot of road noise so it's not exactly peace and quiet.
Stopped here to checkout the view. I found the fencing very interesting. Don't know why the things were there but I'm sure they were sentimental to the people that put them there. Not much for parking it's just to drive through rest area and it's for both directions. The parking is on the drive-thru area. But if you're just stopping for a quick walk around and to stretch your legs it's perfect and the view is amazing.
The drive is curvy but beautiful. It's a shame so many folks tailgate cars. There are picnic areas with great views.
Many memorials, great views

My husband and I have been several times on our own, shared with family members and friends. The olive oils and balsamic vinegars are amazing! I hate when I run out because nothing else really compares. Their olives are great too! Nice day trip!
We went to do olive oil & wine tasting. They had both, but a lot of the olive oils were not locally grown. The tasting for the wine was $10 for 4 small pours, which the wife was pouring. The wine was OK, one I liked, but my wife didn't want to purchase because the husband seemed fairly rude towards our son who was full of energy, but not being bad (outside), not even inside.
The tour and info was great. But, you only get to stand next to the first couple of trees in the orchard. There is no tour of the orchard or walking among the lovely trees. The oil and balsamic is fantastic and I will purchase again online. However, I am giving only three stars because Pat behind the counter was the absolute most rude person I have ever had the displeasure of listening to. The cashier was a darling young girl that was helpful in giving me a recommendation for lunch in town. Yet, Pat spoke so unkindly to the poor girl that I was appalled. What a horrible experience! I hope the young lady finds a better job and quickly. I would never set foot in the store again if I or someone else is to be treated so poorly. Great oil, good tour, terrible customer service.
The olive oil and balsamic vinegar was high quality and very tasty. However, this is not a kid friendly place and we felt very unwelcome. The set up is not condusive to having anyone besides the group on the tour to enter the small tasting room/store. I think a sign on the door that says "tour in progress, please enjoy the patio" could help. We felt like intruders even though we understood that children were not supposed to be on the tour. We thought they would be ok to go through the store, but I would not recommend this experience to anyone with children.
Our server was very rude, she refused to serve us bread with our olive oil to try and instead of sharing where the pouring cup was when you need to waste wine she pointed down at the trash. We were visiting for the weekend and were hoping for a lovely time. Instead, we were treated with an incredible amount of attitude and disrespect. Not worth the trip!!!
Six of us visited this winery on a Saturday. We did a wine tasting and all of us were astounded at the sarcastic flippant wine pourer who hurried us through the whole wine tasting, acting like he could care less whether we were there or not and complaining about other visitors and their behavior. When we would ask questions, he would never really answer them, just give some sarcastic comment. We tasted six wines, but the tasting quantity was so small, you barely got one sip. Overall, the wines tasted pretty good from what we could tell. We will never return to this winery. It was not a fun experience.
Hours are not accurate. We showed up before closing and we were told that wine tastings stop at the time we showed up. Tasted the oils and vinegars which were good but we were definitely rushed to get out of there. Spent less than 15 mins there. Service was not good. She seemed very annoyed we were there and didn't help much. Wouldn't go back.
Not a friendly vibe. Wine tasting was rushed and the lady (brunette with glasses) serving was extremely rude. Olive oil tasting was served in cups without bread so you had to drink oil to taste. Wine was not worth it. Overall, wouldn’t waste your time.

This is such an awesome and cool place. We will definitely be back!!!!
It's nice for a day out, the traffic and parking ($10) can be a nightmare. I wish the market was more than one day a month, it would drive the amount of people down and goods sold wouldn't have to be so expensive on some stalls.
Really cool market. Lots of antiques and fun shops. 3 separate food/concession areas. Lots of well marked parking, most for a $5 donation. All of the lots were full when we went ( it was opening day) so we parked at the nearby junior high and followed a footpath to the market. Bring cash as some vendors do not take cards or apps. They do have some onsite bathrooms and some portable bathrooms. Dogs seem welcome. In most cases it seems handicap accessible but there may be a few tricky areas.
Hundreds of booths/shops selling all sorts of local items, antiques, clothes, pottery, artwork, plain junk, and of course imported goods. Something for everybody. Prices are generally high but most sellers will negotiate.
1st Saturday!!!!! Totally worth it and so fun to go and look at all the treasures! Over 500 booths and lots of everything!!! So fun and entertaining! Like walking around a museum! Has everything! I got a brisket sandwich at the door that was really good!
Fun but very crowded parking situation, but worth it! Lots of people, food is hit and miss but even the misses are good. Limited selection of beer and some places run out of food because there is just a lot of people. I enjoyed walking around and buying some things. Worth the walk to enjoy this experience.
I was happy to find out that it is now dog friendly... I got some spice mixes, dog treats, a funny sign for my cousin and a beautiful piece of cedar for a table top. My dog?!? He got loads of pets and love. If you come, be sure to wear comfortable shoes and take note of the number for assistance with hauling your purchases to the vehicle!
Handicapped Friendly. Family Friendly. So Fun! I’ve only been there once so I was SO EXCITED! Wimberley definitely didn’t disappoint! It’s like a cute little village & all the villagers are having a yard sale 😂🙌🏽 My Grandma uses a wheelchair so I was happy to see some of the little shops had ramps! The bathroom is a tight fit so beware of that. Also it can get very rocky & hilly very quick so beware of that. My Grandmas wheelchair has a seatbelt so we were fine with off roading every now and then 😂 We didn’t eat there except the kettle corn which was delicious. And the vendors are all so sweet! You can definitely find cute vintage stuff here for those who love thrift shopping. There are a lot of great deals but there are also some super pricey stuff so keep in mind that just because it’s set up like a flea market, doesn’t necessarily mean everyone will be dirt cheap with their prices (Which is what I was looking forward to lol) But we did find really great deals tho! We found a beautiful barley used Jean Jacket with Tassels for only $20! & some Himalayan crystal Candel holders for only $5 each 😍. So it really depends on the vendor of course. I loved this place so much I wish it was open every weekend 😭 Def coming back with more people!

This was a fun trip. I enjoy this step journey. Can't wait to come again. Place look very well taken care of. The neighbors and the people around were very nice.
Fantastic little climb to a great view! Roughly 214 steps to the top! Will get your heart pumping for sure! Decent amount of parking at the bottom and well maintained steps and railings.
Climbing the steps up Old Baldy is a short but rewarding hike! It’s a bit steep, but once you reach the top, the 360° panoramic view of the Texas Hill Country is absolutely worth it. Perfect spot for sunrise or sunset. Parking is limited, but the trail is well-maintained and quick. A must-see if you’re visiting Wimberley!
If you are looking for an easy hike to a pretty view, this is great. If you're looking to go for a hike in hill country, this is a non-event. It's a set of stone stairs up to a flat top. A good spot for a picnic, or to watch cavorting butterflies, but not much more than that.
No parking lot, limited parking on la toya cir. Stairs to the top has a number of landings to rest if needed. Most of the stairs have railings but not all. The stair rise and run varies throughout the climb. Approx 115ft rise in elevation. Panoramic view at the top.
Fun little climb for a great view.
Great experience! I would definitely recommend.

Hidden Gem Worth Visiting! I visited this Pioneer Town on a Monday morning, and it truly is a hidden gem. The place is well-maintained and has a charming, old-world feel. Do note that the visiting hours are limited in December, so plan accordingly. The museum is packed with fascinating items that showcase history and heritage. A warm welcome from the kind old lady at the entrance made the experience even more special. The best part? It’s free to visit! Donations are gladly accepted to maintain this wonderful place. Highly recommend stopping by!
It has a lot of potential but it needs a bit of love. It would be nice if tourists had the opportunity of going into the small shops, tavern etc and experiencing old western days. You can have people dress up. Once a little remodeling is done you need to charge entrance for maintenance.
A hidden gem and free. Enter from Blanco River outfitters (7a Ranch office) and exit the door on the back and cowboy museum will be on your left. Ice cream and museum shop were open to enter but other buildings only have window to view inside. There is an event building and a chapel but were locked. Definitely worth the visit.
Loved it . Plenty of great info on the history of all the buildings. They also have a gift shop. My dad stopped at each building to take a look inside.
This was so cool to visit on the weekday. It wasn’t busy. They have a cool arcade and shop to visit. The ice cream parlor is only open on Saturdays. My 2 year old liked walking around.
Great place. I love to see nostalgic kind of places like this.
We planned a day around visiting the museum based on what was posted online. Not only was nothing open to see in Pioneer Town (glass house and chapel were closed, the museum was closed. When we asked about what was up, the 7A Ranch people told us it was ran by a different organization and didn't give us any other information like when it would be open. It was disappointing. Dont go here. There's literally nothing to see here. It gave tourist trap vibes.
Great day trip with the kids, the area is not too busy this time of year. Highly recommended for an old Western themed kind of day in hill country.

Really amazing, family run property with a great "trails of lights" exhibit. The property has year-round events, including a butterfly festival during spring - but the Christmas time trail of lights and many touching memorials on the property are absolutely phenomenal. Amazing staff and friendly volunteers, great food, loads of fun things to see - highly recommended.
Came to town and tried to find the Veterans Memorial. Learned that it is behind the Emily Ann Theatre. So, we walked through the playground and theatre trying to find the memorial. I think the town should put up signage for the Veterans Memorial so that people can find it. The memorial is very nice.
So cute and fun for the family, had a lot of cut out props for pictures and have it free hit chocolate and marshmallows to roast on the fire. Even the teens enjoyed it, with the giant chess/ checkers board.
We came here for the Christmas lights. Beautiful lights and fun family time. So sweet. Santa, music , llamas, beautiful and interactive All donation run.
No love better than Emily Ann theater. Kids love going here every year for the trail of lights.
Great place for families and kids, wonderful Christmas activity full of festive Christmas spirit and fantastic decorations. They have a Christmas play that was nice and other fun music and activities to enjoy with kids of all ages!!!
It is an awesome place in this Christmas Season. I did not expect the size of the trail of light. You can see there are so many people and organisation contribute this event. The best part is free. But I highly recommend to donate and contribute this place and keep the event continue for the community. You can see front my photos. But they are only small part of the event. It is worth to travel from Austin to this place. Wish I can visit next year. It is one of the most favor place in our family vacation thid year.
Anyone who loves Christmas should visit the Emilyann Theatre's walk through trail outside of the theatre. It's located in Wimberley, TX. I, along with another car, thought this was supposed to be a drive or walk through trail according to what I saw on a site online. The other car saw they couldn't drive through though and left. We decided we would walk a little of it. The volunteers were very friendly. They do take donations and offer free hot chocolate and marshmallows for roasting. Lots to see as the town's shops puts this together for others' enjoyment. Be aware that the parking is in gravel, the trails have hills and uneven ground. It may not be for those in wheelchairs or unstable.

My favorite place to watch current movies under the stars. Truly a local treasure designed for locals and visitors alike to experience a movie in the great outdoors. A place to be part of a community experience. The theater is decades old, rescued and upgraded with love. Open during the summer, available for special events otherwise.
A local tradition of first run movies watched from chairs, under the stars. They have chairs but you might want to bring your own. Popcorn and candy for low prices. Really a fun experience on sunned weekend nights!
Corral Theater has first run movies at $6.00, all drinks and popcorn at $1.00. You cannot beat this great deal with fresh breeze from Blanco River and a beautiful starry sky.
Awesome experience! Great customer service and the ticket and concession prices are outstanding. A yearly tradition for me on my birthday weekend now. And Mary is a true sweetheart ♥️
This place is great, outdoor theater with cheap but very good popcorn. You don't have to but it's fun to bring your own chair.
we love the Corral! awesome place to take the kids. we always feel at home here and in our loving Wimberley community.

Great place for family fun! Took my family (wife, 5 kiddos and mother) here for an afternoon dip on a hot summer day and it did not disappoint. It's rare to find economical fun these days for a family of our size but we found it here. I had no idea what to expect when we showed up, but it was like $10 for each to enter, and the tube / paddle board rentals were the same for the day. They also have a bar and kitchen which came in handy for both the adults and kids 😂. The water was great, enjoyed jumping off the rock and the kids had a blast on the paddle boards. If visiting Wimberley I would definitely add Cypress Falls to the itinerary.
Overall cute visit! Water was murkier than pictured and a little bit stinky. Started to get more crowded throughout the day. Needed more seating options. We found 2 chairs, but they were falling apart with some sharp edges. Stand up paddle boards were available for rent, but the grip was tearing off the tops. With a little TLC and glue, the place could be fixed up super cute! Enjoyed lounging in some tubes for just $10!
It's such a cute spot! We got here at 920am, and there was no line or wait to enter. It got busy around 11 am. I will definitely be coming back to this amazing spot. We rented a paddle board and had so much fun. Drinks and food are available for purchase but you can also bring food from home. No grills though.
Great swimming hole for families. Mainly shallow and calm. Tube rentals on site. They have a restaurant and bar. If you stay at Cypress Falls Lodge entry is free. They have restrooms and picnic tables.
On August 7, 2025, the water and air quality were exceptional. The conditions were ideal, and the experience was expansive and not expensive, which I appreciate. To optimize your visit, it is recommended to consider a weekday visit, arriving as it opens, it tends to get busy around 1pm. Please note that veterans are eligible for complimentary admission. Food and beverage options are available at the on-site kitchen and bar, respectively.
Nice little water hole. Spent a few hours just floating. They have tubes and paddle boards, but we took our own.. local wildlife too
Very nice place! Paddle boards for rent are an option, 10$ for the first hour and 5$ for every extra hour. Entrance is 10$ for adult and 6$ for kids
Cute spot - wasn’t too crowded when we were there. We floated and had our own spot to hang. There’s a full bar and cafe that delivers to you as well. You can rent kayaks or tubes.

A very beautiful art gallery in the town square area of Wimberley. We stopped on our way to Austin and the whole town is beautiful and have these pretty art galleries. This gallery had a great collection by some of the local artists spread across different rooms inside the gallery. The place is run by an old couple whose warmth and smile lit up the gallery even more. The collection here has a wide variety of paintings in terms of use of base materials, price and size. Overall a great place if you are looking to buy those pieces to make your home look even more beautiful.
Best art gallery of the town… personalized attention to every piece displayed…. process n inspiration behind it… artist or art enthusiast… you ll love the vibe n folks who run the show Take yourself through the journey - highly recommend… there are 100 stories to unravel in that space
Excellent art gallery if you are in town. Featuring local artist. Price point was also attractive.
Fantastic little art shop with a huge variety of cool local artists, from photography to sculptures there’s something for everyone.
I love stopping at Art on 12 when I'm in the area. They have diverse and interesting pieces at various price points. They've shipped pieces to me and everything arrived safely.
A true Texas gem! Art on 12 is the perfect little local art gallery! The curated manner in how the works are displayed makes it feel like you are in a big city art gallery, but the personal touches and friendly staff remind you that you are in a Texas art gallery! Art can be intimidating to a lot of people and this lovely spot makes it accessible and appreciable! We have now bought several pieces here and will continue to visit regularly!
Wimberley Texas is all about art and art on 12 will not disappoint. There seems to be about 20 to 30 in-house artists producing medium to higher quality art. When you get out of the big cities and into the countryside you begin to see representational art such as paintings of rural Landscapes and the like. If you like plain air painting you'll see a lot of work in this style, old buildings, old cars, windmills, Longhorn cattle and the like.
Went to see the fabulous photography of Mike Stanford. Gorgeous pieces. Art 12 is a must see when in Wimberly!

Pitzer's Fine Arts has represented my art since 1994. Rob and Lynda Pitzer are wonderful to work with. Their website showcases my art, as well as that of their other artists, beautifully. Several of my collectors have raved about how delightful the gallery is and how easy their website is to navigate to find art they love.
As an artist represented by Pitzer's Gallery I could be accused of bias and you might be correct. However, in my position I review a gallery by the way the owner and employees treat the artists they represent. They are always, always honest, helpful and respectful with their artists and this is carried forward with their patrons. You will enjoy great art and have a good experience working with Pitzer's Fine Art Gallery whether you are an artist or a patron. They are a nationally known for high quality works of art. They are just the best, a great asset to Wimberley. Check them out!
Pitzer’s Fine Arts is a professional art gallery with many fine artists represented and on display. Rob and Linda provide a friendly and knowledgeable atmosphere to assist in your selection or search for that special art work that you are looking for. I would recommend Pitzer’s for that discriminating buyer or the novice looking for something special!
Have visited this gallery many times and each time I'm blown away by the selection of original paintings and sculptures. Pitzers is second to none in my opinion and Rob is extremely knowledgeable of all artists that he represents. This gallery is a MUST VISIT if you are in the Wimberley area and if not, they have a wonderful website.
Amazing collection of both paintings and sculptures. Robert and Pam have deep, long-time relationships with world-class artists. We love to browse the ever changing collection at this very special gallery.
Rob knows his stuff. Proud to be represented by Pitzer’s Fine Arts. He treats his artists right!
Rob, enjoyed viewing your website. I was most amazed by your nature photography. Truly exceptional!
