This place is a historic gem. Honestly just to be able to shop in a store so historic with so much history is amazing. It is so neat to think of how many generations has been shopping here let alone running this place. Check out the cash register that’s over 100 years old that they still use every day. Definitely worth stopping by.
Very cool store, a little pricy tho. Employees are super nice and very helpful so a premium price is worth it.
The historic aspect of it is really neat. As you wander around it will have original parts of the store and explain it. The store itself is like part hardware store part home goods. You can buy PVC pipe in one area and pickle grabbers in another. Perfume and jewelry to kids toys and saws. A little over priced for the things. I’d like to have seen more local items etc
Absolutely love this store! It's historical significance would make this an interesting stop anyway. Add the collection of all kinds of interesting products for sale. We have not left empty handed.
Very good store with any useful items. Jonathan however was very rude. Just needed some PVC, and he was not pleased to help me. I did get my material. But, was happy to leave. Spent over 100.00
Super cool store, lots of unique gifts and old style toys plus hardware. Great Christmas shop upstairs too. Highly recommended!
The employee upstairs, I believe his name was Justin, was extremely helpful. The store itself is incredible. It’s a true general store that has a fun exploration feeling rather than the generic Walmart feeling that is perfunctory and monotonous. This store is a piece of history and I can close my eyes and see our ancestors walking along the floors. A genuine enjoyment
Love the store! It was adorable and filled with a bunch of goodies. A kind woman downstairs explained that there was an upstairs section I could continue shopping in - I went upstairs and the young lady responsible for upstairs followed my fiancé and I around. It put a sour taste in my mouth and we left promptly. I hope that this was an abnormal experience, and doesn’t happen to anyone else.

Made a brief day visit while in the area. Very quaint historic town with plenty intriguing shops and amazing architecture. I would like to return when I am able to stay more than one day.
Never heard of this town before. After today it will be forever in my memories and would go to again place.
My FIL told us many years ago that this was the most beautiful city he has ever seen while he drove an 18 wheeler. Well it took us about 30 years to get here but I am so glad we finally visited. One of the best places we stopped on our 16 day adventure through 5 states, 6 RV parks and 1,581 miles.
Many nice shops. Enjoyed the Saturday Farmer's Market. Everyone was very friendly.
Went 2 years ago, you have got to go see this place. You will love it.
Beautiful place , don't pass this place up great people and food 👍👍👍

We took a school group. The 8th graders were engaged. It was a great experience.
All I can say is wow! Highly worth the stop. Only $4 per person and worth every penny. The replication gives a wonderful insight into the size and daily life on the fort. The employees there were super kind and informative even though we came in 30mins before closing on a Saturday. We had to get a crash course, but could have spent longer.
Today was Christmas on the Cane at Fort St Jean Baptiste State Historic Site. It is replica of the original Military and trading Fort. The very knowledgeable staff was demonstrating life in the 18th century. They were dressed in period clothing demonstrating cooking, rifle shooting, blacksmithing and making fire. They also have examples of items that were traded such as furs and beads. It's a must see for all ages so mark your calendar for next year!!
Awesome experience ! The museum offers a nice video that gives a better understanding of the life in this area during the French colonialist time. We were really happy to discover the real size fort replica in which the colons where living. They have an original map of the fort and where able to build it like it was in the 18th century. It’s a must seen and a really well thought museum and ground.
Great replica of a French fort. All the staff is very welcoming and we've had a very good time learning about the history.
Really cool historical site / museum, where you can see an exact replica of the old Fort St. Jean Baptiste which was originally located not far from here. Even being a replica, the attention to detail put into the fort gives you an immersive feeling of what it was like being here over 200 years ago. The museum is small but has a few awesome dioramas as well as artifacts. No question that this is worth the stop and $4 entry.
There was almost no traffic when we visited this historic gem. Staff was super friendly, the Fort was impressive (even as a replica), and the cost was next to nothing. Highly recommend visiting if you're into history.
Amazing French fort , XVIII century replica made totally of wood and settled in a beautifull river environment. Justin the host was really kind and helpful and gave us some interactive activities.

Definitely worth the hour drive. It wasn’t crowded at all, everyone is missing out. We got to see plenty of animals besides gators. I got to hold a baby one! They offered bags of food for some of the smaller farm type animals as well which was fun for the kids. We missed the feeding times so we will definitely make the time to visit again!
This was an amazing experience for the kids. We were on a family road trip to Louisiana from California. We were not really prepared for the heat. You will literally be walking through a swamp, but hey, you get to feed gators and see a bunch of other cool animals. Altogether, the park had about 1-2 hours of stuff to do. It's definitely not a big place, but this was a perfect size for our family trip.
Just got back to our B&B and we can’t stop talking about this place. Evan, Josh, and the GM (we didn’t catch his name) were amazing. Josh was knowledgeable and entertaining, Evan was intelligent and very funny. We were there for 4 hours and saw two gator shows, both with facts and jokes all throughout. We got all of our questions answered and we got to hold two snakes, a baby gator, and a bearded dragon! The GM in the gift shop/admission office was very funny and was more than happy to help us get more feed for the animals. Definitely will be going again when the gators are more active!
Great experience! Easily spent 2+ hours here and worth paying to feed the critters. Very open to wander and the staff were eager to show us the animals and let the kids (teenagers) hold - you have to pay for a wrist band to hold the animals, but highly recommend it. We happened to come right at opening on a weekday and had the park to ourselves for over an hour. The park was very clean and the animals were by well cared for.
We had a very fun filled couple hours at Gator country! Had 6 kids total in our group from 8yrs and younger - all of them enjoyed holding the baby gator, snakes, and more. Mr Leo answered all our questions and was super helpful! Best part was being in the mini pool with the baby alligators!!
Had a great time here, feeding the different animals. And being able to hold the baby alligator. I think they should add hay to the feeding options for the guinea pigs. I recommend this place if you are in the area.
Great place to see alligators, snakes, tortoises, goats and chickens. You can feed everything except the snakes. Most of the animals you can pet. They have a concession stand and gift shop. Clean park.
An awesome experience. Fun for the whole family. Very knowledgeable staff. The baby alligators were adorable and we got to cuddle them. We fed the alligators hot dogs from sticks and they looked to enjoy as much as we did. I can't say enough great things about this place. The tortoises 🐢 were very happy and friendly. Make sure and catch one of the feeding shows they have. A lot of knowledge and fun.

Oh my! Words could never truly express how Awesome the experience of being in a place like this! From the front door to the top floor, there is so much history and wonder. The gentleman at the front desk is really nice and helpful. The place is immaculate! And the walls are so awesome as well. I definitely recommend coming to this place when you get a chance to. So much to look at and so much more to learn. I'm glad my husband brought me here for my birthday!
Beautifully designed and curated museum filled with incredibly engaging spaces. Light fills the lobby and every detail has been considered in the design of the building. The collection includes many unique items that are presented very creatively. Highly recommend.
Wonderful architecture for the building! Very cool to see how it was built. My daughter studied it in her college architecture class and also loves basketball, so I brought her up to see it. She loved every bit of it! Both times I've been there, the workers have been very welcoming and informative. As we were leaving this time, the gentleman asked if we went out on the balcony. I didn't realize they had a balcony so we of course we hadn't gone on it. He said oh you have to check it out! So he told us how to get to it and it was definitely worth it! The view were really cool! If you are an architecture or sports fan, definitely check this place out!
Visited on a closed day. Truly enjoyed the exterior of this unique building. The inside looks great. Another visit, soon. Natchitoches is worth the visit alone.
First time going here in a long time. I was there for the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame induction. Inductees were roaming around here before going to the events center for the ceremony.
Such an honor to boast this place in the heart of our downtown area. This place could have landed anywhere else in the state of Louisiana, but we get to honor Hall of Famers right here in our city of Natchitoches.
This building was an architectural dream. It is shaped to show how the cane river flows through Natchitoches.
Very interesting, and the guide was very knowledgeable about the items on display

Open since 1931, a fish hatchery with 53 ponds & an aquarium on a historic Native American site.
Slide 1 of 8
This is a small but nice aquarium. The hatchery is located on an original Caddo village so they have dioramas of the village and artifacts found on the grounds as well. There are fish, turtles, and an alligator named Kevin. I love that there's a ledge all the way around the room so kids can easily stand and walk on it to see into the tanks without parents having to pick them up. They have nice bathrooms but if you're in there too long without moving, the sensor lights turn off, leaving you in the dark. You'll have to use your phone light to light up the stall after that. Don't ask how I know that. 😌 This is a quick little stop but fun.
Tiny but very informative aquarium. We were amazed to see an albino snapping turtle and albino catfish. Also a nice display of the Caddo culture.
What a great visit! The aquarium is small but interesting. The project leader/biologist, Brett was kind enough to give us a tour showing and explaining the work they do with mussels and Alligator Snapping turtles. We walked around the ponds and saw many birds. Stop by to learn about the importance of fish hatcheries!
Very nice and clean and you can see some animals including an Aligator named Kevin...
In reading the other reviews here, I don't see anyone mentioning a great aspect of this little jewel. We are nature/bird lovers and the walk along the levee was the best part...just being outdoors and a lot of bird activity including some species that we just don't get to see at home which is about 60 miles away. The staff are welcoming. The mini aquarium is very nice...take time to actually read up/study on some of the species housed there before you go and I think it may take more than 10 minutes of admiring these animals for what they are...some of them are basically living fossils, being the descendants of species that have existed for a long, long, long time. Anyway, I wish we lived closer because I would love to be able to walk the levee area in all seasons :)
Cute little aquarium, worth the trip!
The aquarium is fairly small, but if you take your time to enjoy the fish and turtles, you can learn about local animals and the history of the area. We spent about 45 minutes enjoying the fish and the educational materials.
Went here for a children's fishing event. I've got to tell you that everyone we met here was very hospitable and was all about the kids. The facility was small for this type of free event but they handle it like Champs. I fully intend to go to this place next year if they hold a children's event again.

Came here on a perfectly gloomy, drizzly day. I have no idea where the parking lot is, so I just randomly parked and started walking. The history here was so incredible to see. Seeing graves from soldiers of the revolutionary war was amazing to me. Some graves so old the engravings have worn off with time. Some of the graves are a bit more modern, but I enjoyed just seeing the history of people from the past. Just a neat place to stop in
This is a beautiful and serene place. There is such history here. The cemetery dates back to the mid 1700's, though the headstones only date back to late 1700's. It is one of the if not the oldest cemetery in Louisiana. It sits next to Holy Cross church, behind this church is a absolutely beautiful garden with crosses set up. The area is so peaceful and really very beautiful.
The final resting place of our great grandparents..Lucy Paxton Sarborough and her husband Daniel Culpepper Scarborough known to his beloved grandchildren as "Daddy Dan" The American Cementary is one of the most beautiful venues in North Louisiana and should be visited
The American Cemetery is a major Historic spot in the town of Natchitoches. It is believed to be the actual location of the original Fort St. Jean Baptiste. It is more than a cemetery. It is an historic archaeological site in it's own right. Many of the oldest graves are naturally succumbing to age and erosion. Some gravesites have already been lost to time if they were ever properly marked at all. It may be the oldest permanently occupied piece of ground in Natchitoches. That would make it the supreme "oldest of the old" ground in the oldest permanent settlement in the Louisiana Purchase.
Quiet place, cemetery after all. Worth a walk around if you are into old cemeteries. Some of the graves are badly deteriorated.
Statues included. Very peaceful.

I had a great time bringing family to see the giant fossil whale head found on the Red River. There are Native American artifacts, exhibitions about the Red River, and a bird identification section. At the back of the museum there is a beautiful overlook of the Red River on top of the Grand Ecore Bluff. There is a little nature trail as well. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I think there could be more items on display, but that's just personal preference.
Very interesting, well maintained historical site.
Since a nice historical area! We didn’t get to see any shops because they weren’t open yet but the area is charming and inviting. I can’t wait to go back after the Roque house is done!
If you like nature and history, it's worth the 15-20 minutes to check it out. The attendant was very helpful and friendly. Kids enjoyed it.
Fabulous!! Very educational & the views to the river are spectacular. Due to scheduling & COVID, it has been closed the last times I have been here, so such a wonderful treat that it was open today. I would say, "don't miss it!"
It's a wonderful veiw overlooking the Red river. There are many historical information stations in the building. There are a couple show trails that lead to rest areas. Wonderful place to go enjoy the natural beauty of the area.
This place beautiful. The building has a fabulous wrap around porch with rocking chairs. And the view is amazing. Lots of interesting historical information and videos. I highly recommend a stop here.
Disgustingly dirty. Outside of building was covered in spiders and webs. Spiders in bathroom. Gentleman inside was very unfriendly. With all the trees in front you could hardly see the river. Needs major work.

Tres Bien. Delightful and informative tour of a historical Louisiana home. We were there early in the year so the weather was mild and bugs were on holiday. The tour was quite extensive and included some of the out buildings. The most amazing part was the history and artwork of Clementine Hunter. A folk artist whose work you will see reproduced on a variety of objects like platters and plates. I understand that they also have events here and I imagine weddings must be very special in this grand old home.
Love this house...we were on a tour and we stayed and looked around after we listened to the host...they did not rush you if you wanted to linger...
We were nextdoor to here for a work party. Had a good spot for the Christmas parade.
Beautiful on the outside. Their web page said they were open but it wasn't. No phone number to call to inquire.
Google maps says it's a museum so I walked in the front door on a Saturday afternoon and realized I had just interrupted a wedding party. Embarrassing :-(

This is a must do if you're in town! We booked on their website for the 6pm Thursday evening tour. So worth it! Captain Paul was great and down to earth. He would give a little history as we took a relaxing cruise up the Cane River Lake to the dam and back. My wife and I really enjoyed seeing the beautiful homes and scenery while also listening to easy music.
Fun cruise. Very personable and capable Captain and first mate. Some good local information and history. Beautiful views of homes and the area. A VERY pleasant way to spend an hour or so and to get on the Cane River Lake. We had an evening cruise, perfect, you will love it. Thank you Captain Paul and Ms Melissa!
It was a lovely fall day and a most enjoyable ride on the Cane River Queen with the knowledgeable Capt. Paul. A small part on the motor failed but Capt. Paul had a backup ready. None of us passengers even knew there was a problem. As a mariner myself, I understand these things happen. What is impressive is that the skilled Capt. had all contingencies covered.
Overall definitely worth the money it was a very nice and scenic boat tour the captain made it feel entertaining and not one of those same script on repeat type things. He did a really good job explaining all the fun historical facts of the city. They have a restroom on board and were serving hot cocoa and coffee. Definitely a fun experience in town and a great way to see the lights! PS you can bring your own drinks as long as it’s in an appropriate container.
My husband and I enjoyed the trip. We were hoping there would be more history information provided, but there were lots of nice houses, the river was beautiful, and the captain played good music. Be aware this isn't a fast boat ride because the entire trip is in a no-wake zone. The boat is in plain view downtown, and parking was readily available. The boat ride does last almost an hour. We got to see a wedding, lots of fancy vehicles from people attending the wedding, and several ladies taking senior and prom pictures on the banks, so there was a lot to see and admire.
Wonderful trip on the Cane River! Learned a little history about the river and Natchitoches. The Captain was endearing! Check in was simple and the ride was fun. Took my guy for Father's Day and he absolutely loved it. Will definitely return!
I Celebrated My 60th Birthday aboard the Cane River Queen. We had an AWESOME Time. The Captain and his Assistant Treated Us Like Royalty....We had Music , Food and So Much FUN. We Spent an hour and a half Cruising the Cane River. The sights were to Treasure can't wait to get group together to do this again For You next water adventure You need to check out the Cane River Queen. Thanks Again for allowing us the Opportunity!!!!

Well worth the visit!!! Good job Louisiana State Parks Department!!!

The most amazing place ever!!!! People are so great. We love the massages here & the head spa was so relaxing!!!!
I had the pleasure of visiting Bri at Magnolia Spa and Wellness, and the experience was nothing short of phenomenal! I can’t say enough great things about the facial I received. The environment was calm, peaceful, and impeccably clean—but what truly stood out was the service. It was by far the best I’ve ever received. Having traveled all over the U.S. and experienced treatments from many providers, I can confidently say that Bri’s bedside manner is exceptional. She was soft-spoken, attentive, and incredibly skilled—from the dermaplaning to the extractions and the soothing massage. I’ll definitely be booking again, and I highly recommend you do the same. 10/10 stars!
Had a massage. At first it was ok but then I started noticing it was a lot of stopping. I looked up and she was on her phone. There was also a lot of noise over the course of about 10 to 15 minutes. Loud talking as people were walking past the door, slamming doors. Would never go back.
I cannot express how much I appreciate Amber's massage techniques. She knows exactly how to work out the knots in my neck and shoulders to bring long lasting relief from neck pain. Every massage has been well worth every penny. I also appreciate the rest of the staff as they are very friendly and hospitable. This is a really great business.
I am never disappointed when I visit the spa. From the time you walk in the door, relaxation is their priority. Take a look around at the clothes, shoes and accessories while you wait or enjoy the relaxation room. You will not be disappointed. Thank you to my massage therapist, Christa, I feel like a new woman. Great way to start off New Years Eve.
Had a gift card and was told I could not make an appointment to use the gift card unless I give my credit card number.
It was OK, not impressed. I gave 3 stars because it's a local business (I'd give 1.5 for my experience). Made appointment for 90 minutes, was given 60 by mistake & no extension available. Therapist was new, so I thought I'd give it another chance. Called & left a message, texted on Facebook (I can see that it was read) and filled out the form on their website. That was a few months of trying. No response, no call back. So sad that this is the only place in town to get a massage 🥲
