Kashihara Jingu in Nara is where Emperor Jimmu, Japan's first emperor, is said to have founded the nation in 660 BCE. Established in 1890, this stunning shrine celebrates Japan’s divine imperial origins and unification. I was incredibly lucky to get married at this historical and spiritual temple.
No admission charge, though parking a bit expensive. Lovely grounds.
A nice place to visit if you like culture and history. Long paths to walk under the trees, a large building for the sacred being. There is also a gift shop that sells some talismans. The entrance fee was free when I made a visit there.
Beautiful and peaceful. Just visiting on my way to Nara (exhange train in this station) and was surprised bow peaceful and solemn this shrine is. Get my first goshuin here! When I came here it they also have ShichiGoSan so there’s tiny ladies wearing beautiful kimono all around. Sooo adorable!
Lovely and peaceful shrine. It was raining, but still worth the visit.
This is a representative shrine in Nara. It is close to Kashihara Jingu Station on the Kintetsu Minami-Osaka Line and within walking distance. Surrounded by a park, it is rich in nature and ideal for strolling and jogging. Temples and shrines in Kyoto are nice, but shrines in Nara are also very good for sightseeing.
Absolutely beautiful. So peaceful today as well. No tourist buses when we went. Everything is so tranquil here. Worth the drive out. Of course you could get a bus as well. Don't miss this one if you are near.
The two grand torii in front of Kashiharajan Shrine are grand, and the wood is preserved in its primary color, which is more interesting than if it were painted with vermilion! Founded in the year of Meiji 23 (1890), Kashiharajan Shrine has been enlarged several times and currently covers an area of 500,000 square meters. Located east of Mount Kashiharaju city, Nara Kashiharaju City, this site is believed to be the location of Mashiki Kashiharu Palace, the palace of Japan's first Emperor Hirohito (on throne: 660-585 BC). After walking through the way, I saw the bride and bridegroom who came to the shrine to do the wedding ceremony. Japanese dress, really have a different flavor. One of the main temples of Kashiharaju Kashiharaju, is a shift from The Suhasu (Suharu Uchiji) in Kyoto. Both sides of the long column corridor and row of lanterns had a very serious imposing manner. The cutting hand of Japan's 2,600th anniversary stamps is the inaki Kaharu Shrine Kashiharajan Shrine is a wide area, with a wide forest beyond the back door. In the outer court, the remains of pillars of yayoi period have been excavated, and the measurement results of C-14 have an error of 2600 years plus or minus 200 years, which is exactly consistent with the era of Emperor Jimwu.

That's how it started, and the movement was completed automatically and autonomously, and I did an e-motion like I scooped up some prana and drank it in a half-stunned stage emotion. Sometimes I get into a state where I can see a swarm of horseshoe crab larvae glowing in cloudy white moving in Brownian motion. It feels like I get into such a mode at the right location and timing, and I forget about it until then. I don't think it's a technique, but a pure mode.Heteronomic situations are dominant.I've walked by many times and got caught in the rain. I think the nature and functionality of heteronomous situational control differs from person to person. For example, Yusa-san is currently dealing with the accident by himself. I'm heading to Shimogamo by train by myself as originally planned. Mr. Kusakabe is complaining about my tardiness. They are relieved and expanding according to the regulations. At a completely invisible level, each of them is generating a completely heteronomous situation in their own seisansei. In order to create a future-oriented butterfly effect while realizing the last minute and continuing to breathe consciously as an acrobatic, it actually takes sacrifice, solid technical experience, and repeated efforts. For the time being, I rode the Kintetsu train in order to destroy and ruin the dominant heteronomous situation of B that A had deepened. I think it would be good if everyone, including the immature hen who raised her voice just at noon, should learn about the state of things called Jokyo and how they work, and the possibilities and practicalities of countering and manipulating them. HANIWAs the cuties from thousands years ago! This Kashihara Archaeological museum made me visit Kashihara, Nara. OG capital of Japan, however, I've visited Nara maybe only 2 times in my life. So I planed the trip to Kashihara while in Japan with my aunt and cousin to explore!
A museum introducing wide Japanese archeological research to the public. The entrance fee is cheap, and you'll even be able to get a discount if you can verify you're a student (e.g., International Student Card). For non-Japanese speakers, the museum also has fairly well-prepared English subtitles and descriptions on their exhibited artifacts. And, of course, since this museum is an annex of a special research center, the selection is also well arranged. If you visit Kashihara Jingu early, then I'd also recommend you visit this place too.
Great place. Free entry for foriegners with a show of passport and you get a free booklet with english explanations and four pull out postcards. The exhibits are amazingly interesting and I was absolutely enthralled. I highly reccomend!
Great collection
Best oversight over Nara history.
The museum has a wonderful collection of artifacts, and the staff were very kind. I appreciated the English exhibit guide.
Amazing museum. Highly recommended if you're into history and archeology. Close to Kashihara Jingu and the Kofun of Emperor Jimmu. The museum covers the history of the area from the Paleolithic to the late Nara periods, and has a lot of amazing artifacts, dioramas and displays. Most displays are in Japanese but there is an English guidebook available. Admission is 800 yen but if you're a foreigner you can get in for free if you show your passport.
Really nice museum describing a period of Japanese history that is often less discussed. I learned a lot about early Japanese history and culture. Highly recommend for those interested in history and archeology.

Better to get there by car. There are parking lots at different locations. Early Oct is not the best blooming period but should be less crowded. Good to have a relaxing walk with family or pet.
Interesting palace ruins ! Worth a quick visit ;-)
Its ok, I knew it was a complete ruins and there is nothing left except for a vast field and became a play ground of sorts for the locals to relax. But the field is massive, one can imagine how big the palace was for the fujiwara back in ancient days... If u like a place to have a picnic then its nice. Otherwise there is nothing to see even old ruins rocks...
Well, there's no ruins actually, just some marks indicating the place, but they have a really beautiful cosmos flower garden there right now, so I really recommend people to visit it, plus it's free and there's lot of parking area available
Roads were very busy but there's lots of things to see and do!

Shopping
Slide 1 of 8
I loved this place, Its huge!! Its is very popular, alot of good stores and famous stores like Starbucks, Gap, H&L, Uniqlo and more. It's got everything a big book store, movie theater, game center, and a big food court, and then looks like a nicer smaller food court the flow above that (third floor), even a super market! The bathrooms are nice (men's atleast) and there are many resting spots. If you just want to go shopping for a day, you will have plenty of material to look at while you are. I spent here a full 12 hours to look at most of the stores, not womans stores, and other stores. I also watched 2 movies, so you will definitely not get bored and can make a day out of this. (;
Very very wide mall with anything you need I went there for the beauty clinic or 3coins. It opens at 10am so you can't enter the mall before 10:00
Aeon Mall Kashihara provides an extensive selection of shopping opportunities, encompassing a variety of stores specifically catering to footwear and clothing enthusiasts. As visitors explore the mall, they can discover diverse options for acquiring stylish apparel and trendy footwear. Moreover, the mall boasts several food courts situated on different floors, enhancing the overall shopping experience. However, it's crucial to highlight a notable aspect concerning dining preferences. Despite the numerous culinary choices available, including various cuisines and flavors within the food courts, it is regrettable that Aeon Mall Kashihara currently lacks halal food options. This absence might be a consideration for individuals adhering to halal dietary restrictions, prompting them to explore alternative dining venues within the mall premises.
It is a great shopping mall. It has a convenient food court and is quiet and comfortable!
Clean with lots of stores catering to different foods, styles, price points, etc. 2 good food courts too.
I just buy sushi there and rent a bike and drive to nara
There are quite a lot of stores here, so naturally, a lot of people visit. If you are looking at buying just the food, go before 10 o'clock, when the other stores haven't opened yet.
I like how the parking lot and the stores are close to each other! Fun fact : Locals call it “Aruru” (Ah-roo-roo) because of its previous name.

Rather small and you can't really go the mausoleum but the sight and nature is beautiful there!
Large and tranquil mausoleum of a ancient emperor. The space open to public is limited with little stuff to see. Tourists are not allowed to enter the area of the mausoleum itself.
(Translated by Google) August 16, 2025 This is the tomb of Emperor Jimmu, the nation's founder and first emperor. It is located north of Kashihara Shrine, where he is said to have ascended to the throne, across the forest east of Mount Unebi. Proceeding from the entrance facing the national highway, the approach makes a gentle right curve before straightening out to the worship site. Surrounded by tall trees on both sides, it's reminiscent of Ise Grand Shrine. Once you cross the moat, the view opens up and continues to the worship site. A building can be seen in the distance on the right, and upon approaching, it appears to be the shrine office (I'm not sure what it's called). It seemed to have some handouts, but it was closed and I couldn't enter. To return to the national highway, it's quicker to take the road leading from the shrine office. As befits an imperial tomb managed by the Imperial Household Agency, there is a well-maintained approach leading up to the tomb. Worship takes place at the worship hall just before the tomb. Archaeologically speaking, this tomb is called the Misanzai Tomb, and appears to belong to the Shijo Tomb Group, but because academic surveys are not possible, it is not even certain whether it is a tumulus in the first place (it may just be a hill). As I walked along the path surrounded by trees from the approach to the shrine, I found myself in a tranquil atmosphere within the spacious grounds. There were no other worshippers there, so standing in front of the torii gate I felt like I'd been left behind in another world. Although there are legends and many mysteries surrounding the tomb, it remains true that it is the founding father of Japan. I was grateful to have been able to visit this imperial tomb.
(Translated by Google) Unebiyama no Ushitora no Sumi no Misasagi Tomb of the first Emperor Jinmu Also known as Shijo Misanzai Kofun Formed as a circular mound On the day I visited, it was raining on and off, but the weather was such that it barely bothered me. It was early in the morning, so there were no people walking along the approach to the tomb, and I stood alone at the tomb, enveloped in a solemn atmosphere. Emperor Jinmu is considered a mythical figure, but there is a record (Nihon Shoki, Volume 28) that during the Jinshin War, Otomo no Muraji Fuke, who accompanied Prince Oama (later Emperor Tenmu), sent Takechi no Agata Nushi Kome to Emperor Jinmu's mountain tomb to present horses and various weapons, and in the Heian period, the location and size of the tomb were recorded in the Shoryo Shiki in Volume 20 of the Engishiki, and it is known that it was under the management of the Shoryo Ryo. In other words, regardless of whether Emperor Jimmu was a mythical figure or not, it is clear that rituals were performed at the tomb of Emperor Jimmu before the Middle Ages. However, as time went on, the tomb fell into disrepair and its location became unknown. In the Edo period, when the tomb was being restored in 1697, the village headman of Shijo village replied that Tsukayama was the tomb of Emperor Jimmu, so the Edo shogunate designated Tsukayama (the tomb of Emperor Suizei today) as the tomb of Emperor Jimmu. However, this was disagreed with by the Japanese classicist Motoori Norinaga and the Confucian scholar Gamo Kimippei, who wrote the "Yamaryōshi," and they argued that Maruyama, located on the ridge of Mount Unebi, was the tomb of Emperor Jimmu. In the Bunkyu era, opinions were divided between the strongly supported Maruyama theory and a small mound in Jinmu-da, strongly promoted by Tanimori Yoshiomi, and finally Jinmu-da was selected by Emperor Komei. However, Emperor Komei also ordered that Maruyama not be neglected. The background to this was Emperor Komei's plan to visit Yamato, and Emperor Komei himself had a strong desire to visit the tomb of Emperor Jinmu, but the location of the mountain ridge had not been determined for the tomb to be restored. The reason for selecting the mound in Jinmu-da was probably because the most likely candidate, Maruyama, located on the ridge of the Unebi mountains, would not be able to be restored in time. Unfortunately, Emperor Komei's visit to Yamato was canceled due to the outbreak of the coup d'état on August 18th. Emperor Jimmu may be a mythical figure, but considering that rituals have been held here since ancient times, and that even though the location became lost in the Middle Ages, controversy has arisen over the site since the early modern period, and that it is still a place of veneration today, there is no doubt that there was a real model for him. There is also a theory that Jimmuda no Tsuka is the remains of the foundations of the hall and tower of Okuboji Temple, which existed here until the Middle Ages, but this cannot be verified at this time. However, even if Emperor Jimmu's mountain tomb was not located here, it seemed significant that this place has some connection to and is a place where people revere and worship Emperor Jimmu.

One of the “Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara”, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this place seems off by design. It pretty much feels like I am in ancient China. Well anyway, it is inspired by ancient China. You’ll see two pagoda standing tall from the main gate. One is original, the other is reconstructed. This place is really beautiful. The statues of all wood-carved Buddha offer a sense of spiritual feeling of enlightenment. You should visit here when you are in Nara, Japan.
Cherry Blossom season is quiet compared to other super crowded sites. It’s a must visit if you love ancient architectures & history. It felt like travel back in time of 1000 years while standing there in the rain & enjoy the sight of the pagodas. Very zen & relaxing when there are less people around!
Yakushiji Temple (薬師寺), located in Nara, Japan, is one of the most significant and ancient Buddhist temples in the country. Originally constructed in 680 CE during the Asuka period by Emperor Tenmu, the temple was built to pray for the recovery of his wife, Empress Jitō. Dedicated to Yakushi Nyorai, the Buddha of Medicine and Healing, the temple symbolizes hope and spiritual healing. Yakushiji is renowned for its symmetrical layout and stunning architecture, epitomizing the classical style of early Japanese Buddhism. The temple complex includes several iconic structures, most notably the East Pagoda (東塔, Tōtō), a three-story pagoda dating back to the 8th century. This is the only original structure that survived multiple fires and is celebrated for its elegant design and intricate details. The West Pagoda (西塔, Saitō) and the Kondō (金堂, Main Hall) have been meticulously reconstructed to preserve their historical and spiritual significance. Inside the Kondō, visitors can find an extraordinary bronze triad statue of Yakushi Nyorai flanked by two Bodhisattvas, exemplifying artistic mastery from the Hakuho period. These statues are considered national treasures and reflect the deep devotion to Buddhist teachings. In addition to its architectural and artistic treasures, Yakushiji Temple serves as an active center for Buddhist worship and meditation. The temple’s tranquil atmosphere and rich history make it a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a must-visit destination for those seeking to explore Japan’s cultural and spiritual heritage.
This is a peaceful temple belonging to the Yogācāra school of Buddhism. It features a beautiful pagoda and murals depicting scenes from the Great Tang Dynasty’s journeys to the Western Regions. It’s a great place for those interested in Buddhist teachings and history. Legend has it that relics of Xuanzang are enshrined here.
Marvelous, an over 13-hundred years old stupa and other rebuilt buildings show us ancient views.
July 5th 2025 I attended a group tour organised by Nara International Citizen centre, along with students from NAIST and Nara University. We went to three places, Yakushi-Ji is our first stop. We were just in time to see the buddhist monks performing their prayers (as you can see from the video). This place temple specifically feels oddly calming, reminding me of Todai-ji. As you walk around, enjoying the lotus flowers and ancient architectures. Hopefully, you'll feel as peaceful and relaxed as I did!
Great ancient Buddhist temple in Japan. Two Three-storied pagodas are beautiful!! Gilt bronze Buddhist statue of "Bhaisajyaguru Triad" is very impressive.
Seem most temple in Japan is nice ..This temple is too... The left side pagoda has these bronze relief scenes inside of Buddha that are incredible (no photos allowed). It’s a rather large complex with much to view, but seems like U could cover it in 1/2hours...

(Translated by Google) It's about a 5-minute walk from Kashiharajingu-mae Station, but I took the wrong exit and ended up taking a longer detour. It's a 5-minute walk from the west ticket gate. The principal image is a seated statue of Yakushi Nyorai. It's inside a small shrine, but I can't see it very well. I can just barely make out the chin and chest. It's probably a large Buddha, about 2 meters tall, but I can't see the whole thing so I'm not sure. On either side of the principal image are standing statues of what appear to be Nikko and Gakko Bosatsu, and beyond them are two deities (it doesn't say how many there are, so I don't know). Further beyond that are seated statues of Amida Nyorai and Seishi Bosatsu (I was told this by the temple staff), as well as Aizen Myo-o and Fudo Myo-o. Near the temple grounds (back gate?), there are also gilded stone statues of Dainichi Nyorai, Yakushi Nyorai, and Kannon Bodhisattva. This temple is home to the legend of Kume Sennin. The story goes that Kume Sennin, who had the supernatural power to fly, was dazzled by the thighs of a girl doing laundry and lost his supernatural powers. Well, it's the kind of story you'd see in a Manga Nihon folktale, so whether it's true or not is not important. I visited on a Sunday and was able to take my time looking around.

What a cool place to visit. There is limited English so be prepared to Google Lens Translate a lot of stuff. That does not really matter though as the exhibits are cool and the movable cameras allow you to get up close with wasps and other insects. Arrived 45 minutes before closing and rushed through and into the main thing I wanted to see which was the butterfly enclosure. Very humid and hot but worth every drop of sweat being surrounded by so many butterflies.
Worth visiting especially with kids. Parking in front available for free.

It seems to be a pet overseas, and the attendant held it in his hand and said, "It's okay to touch it." The clear and thorough explanation told us that it's popular as a pet overseas...and the kids, upon hearing that, seemed surprisingly comfortable touching it...although they did wash and sanitize their hands afterward. Eating and drinking are prohibited inside the museum. Even if you take your time, it will take about an hour to look around.
