Such a fantastic way to tour this island! We opted for the 3 hour tour and it did not disappoint. We rode to a beach, through a macadamia farm, climbed down a bit to a stunning waterfall, saw free roaming cows and pigs along the way. It was so much fun. They provided helmets and gloves and showed us newbies how to drive an ATV before we embarked on the tour. I wore jeans, sneakers and a tank and I definitely needed a bath afterward because the mud splashed all over us! I did bring some sunscreen, thankfully because I would have burned, otherwise. The tour guides were locals so they were very knowledgeable and very funny! We very much enjoyed our 3 hour tour!
Everyone can go on this! I took my 80 year old Mother in Law and she had a blast. The guys were real good to make sure she could get down to the Waterfall and back up. They kept telling her to take her time. They were always smiling. I couldn't ask for better.
My husband and I booked this tour to view some of the farm land, cliffs, forest, etc. of the Big Island. When I called to book the tour the woman I spoke with was so friendly, told us exactly how to get there from our hotel (seriously turn by turn), and was so friendly. When we arrived for the tour we were greeted by one of our two guides- Tayvon. Tayvon helped all the parties get setup, take payment, complete waivers, get equipment, etc. he is a VERY kind young man with a great sense of humor and really made sure we were off to a great start. We then met our other guides Keli'i who was also great. He took the time to explain how to use the vehicles, was friendly, and had a great sense of humor. The two then made sure folks were comfortable on the atvs and those who needed help were then provided side by sides so someone else could do the driving for them. The tour took us to some gorgeous cliffs where Keli'i showed us just how close Maui was, explained the history of the area and island, and gave us some time to look around. From there we headed to a secluded waterfall where folks could swim or look around. While there Tayvon explained to us a bit more about the different regions on the island and the town we were in. Both Tayvon and Keli'l also gave us recommendations of other places to visit on the island, lunch spots, and sites to be sure not to miss. I would highly recommend this company, tour, and the guides to anyone looking to get outside, be around friendly people, and have a great time.
Fun ride but often rains in this area. Glad I had someone driving for me. They provide helmets and goggles for safety and plastic poncho when it rains.
We had a really good time taking the ATV tour here. We opted for the 1 and a half hour coastal scene ride. The ride was really fun and it was really easy to ride the ATV as a first timer. Keli'i and Tita were the coolest guides and were really awesome!
Our family of four booked this tour and came prepared with backpacks with towels in case we got to swim at the waterfall. We didn't get as muddy as we had liked actually! The guys in our group got to take the 4-wheelers (make sure your teen has their ID - they check), I drove a side-by-side with my young daughter. I didn't have to do anything but steer, accelerate, and brake. The guides will take care of switching over from 2WD to 4WD or changing the diff. We were also the last vehicle in the convoy with one guide behind so we let ourselves fall back just a bit to enjoy. My daughter took pictures using my Canon from the passenger seat. We didn't get to swim under the waterfall. They said it had rained the night before and that while the water levels were back down to normal, the run off was from pasture land and muddy. The steps to the waterfall and the boulders are very slick so don't wear shoes/boots that don't have some kind of traction!
Such an awesome experience. They have a private waterfall that is gorgeous! The tour guides were awesome too. Highly recommend!
We had so much fun with T$ and Austin, who happened to have the same birthday as my best friend! Happy 21st Austin! We did the waterfall and rainforest trail. So much beauty in 2 hours! We could see Maui, 26 miles away! Dont forget to TIP! And give the kitty scratches 😻😻

Incredible!!! Our tour guide Mark was just the best. Probably one of the most genuine people I have ever met. We did the zip & dip, so we started the day with him as he drove us to our zipline, which was awesome!!! Oozi & Booboo were just so great haha. They made everyone feel so safe & comfortable, & they had us cracking up the entire time. Booboo took pictures for us the whole time, which was nice!! We paid $20 at the end & got them all. & then Mark picked us back up & drove us to an insanely beautiful lunch spot. He is not over selling it when he says it's breathtaking, it really is. We ate lunch, drove to a spot where we did a very short hike & ended up at a waterfall! That was so incredible as we swam in the (freezing haha) waters to the waterfall. You can keep a bag in the van for the entire trip, so I would pack water shoes for this portion!! That would have helped. Also, wear a swimsuit under your clothes for the zipline, there is no place to change for the waterfall part. & then after we dried off, he took us for a quick stop to the Macadamia Nut Factory at our request, & went shopping & tasting their different flavors. It was a GREAT day!!!! Highly recommend this tour. It was a great part of our honeymoon.
Had an amazing time zip-lining with Kohala Zipline through the beautiful jungles of Kona! Jake and Davyn were fantastic guides, full of local knowledge and fun energy that made the entire experience even better. This was our last day on the island, and it truly showcased how many incredible adventures Kona has to offer. The tour was a great price for the experience and they even provided awesome photos afterward for an extra cost but so worth it. On the way, we spotted tons of wildlife — mongoose, wild hogs, cattle, wild dogs, pheasants, quail, and even an endangered hawk species. A massive rainstorm rolled through during the trip, but it only made the experience more exciting and memorable. Highly recommend this adventure to anyone visiting the island!
Such an amazing experience that I would recommend to anyone visiting the big island. We were originally disappointed when our first reservation was cancelled due to high winds and loss of electricity, but they quickly rebooked us to the following day. With the weather still being quite rainy, we were nervous when we arrived. However, upon arrival they offered us rain jackets and assurance that we were in good hands. We learned a lot about the local community on the ride to the zip lines, saw the King Kamea statue (a must see), and had the best guides. They were extremely knowledgeable and made the experience so much fun with their stories and positive/energetic attitudes. The zip lines themselves were fantastic. A bit slow at first as there are a few shorter lines, but they build up and get longer with each one, ultimately leading to a two person zip and a repel out of the trees. A must do. We ended the experience with many memories and a lot of fantastic food recommendations. Definitely get the photo package.
If you’re thinking about booking with Kohala Zipline to explore the stunning forests of the Island of Hawai‘i — DO IT! This was easily one of the most beautiful and well-organized zipline tours we’ve ever experienced. Each line offered something unique, with varying lengths and speeds that made the adventure even more exciting. After ziplining, our guide took us to enjoy lunch overlooking a breathtaking view, followed by a refreshing swim under a waterfall — absolutely unforgettable! A huge shoutout to Decker and Nick, our incredible guides. Decker’s deep knowledge of Hawaiian history and the local environment added so much meaning to the tour — he even showed us native fruits we got to taste! Nick was so kind, patient, and professional throughout the zipline course. His calm demeanor and expertise instantly eased my nerves. We can’t recommend this tour or company enough — it’s an experience you’ll remember forever!
We had a WONDERFUL experience with our group guides Cody and Davyn. They were so knowledgeable about the course, their duties and local history. We learned so much, on top of feeling very safe and having a really great time. Who knew we'd be getting so much fun history and factoids!? We would highly recommend you book this adventure. Communication was excellent, and navigating was very easy. They also have a lovely gift shop with great items, so bring your credit card! Thank you so much, Kohala Zipline!
My family had a great time with Kohala Zipline. Our guides were Jake and Brogan. They were great with my kids, funny, and personable. They taught us more about the area and gave great food/activity suggestions. The Ziplines and Bridges were a lot of fun. They gave clear instructions and were always on top of procedures to keep you safe. It all went very smoothly. They had water set up half way through and at the end of the tour. The course was also shaded which made it very comfortable and a nice break from beach burns. Would definitely recommend!
This was an awesome place to zipline. The views were beautiful and the crew was fantastic. This was the first time for most of our group and they ensured we felt safe and enjoyed our time. They opened up a slot for us as a small group of six and I highly recommend Kohala Zipline as your Guide to your next BIG Adventure.
Our first time ziplining we chose Kohala Zipline and are so glad we did! Celebrating our 35th Wedding Anniversary on Hawaii - we were 40+ years older than all our tour mates and a little anxious about what the tour would hold but our guides Davin (sp?) and Bubu (sp?) were awesome and put everyone at ease by the time we completed the 1st zip and swinging bridge. Their knowledge, entertaining stories and history on the Island added to the enjoyment of the day. Tip for the Seafood Bar & Grill in Waimea for the trip back to our Resort was perfect - great Margaritas & Calamari! And best of all - we completed the course!! Yay!! Highly recommended!

Quite an impressive statue of King Kamehamea I. The historic town of Kapaau is worth a visit too. There is plenty of street parking available.
After a scenic drive in the Kohala mountains, this historic statue is outdoors in the North Kohala Civic Center. It is smaller than the statues in Honolulu and Hilo.
Took me over 20 years to visit and take pictures with ohana. I first came to Hawi or Upolu Point about 10 minutes drive in 1991 and never actually stopped and visited ( I didn't have a vehicle at the time!) Loved my visit with my Mom and best friend from Waimea and used the nice facilities by the police station with plenty of parking and NO Line!!
Great little bit of history and a lovely monument. Close by shops are worth a visit
Impressive statue of King Kamehameha in Kapaau Hawaii. There is no admission fee , and there is free parking in front of the Old Kohala Courthouse ( the statue is on the lawn just in front of the courthouse). There is also a small restaurant and shops across the street .
It's an Hawaiian culture site with tributes the king that brought all the islands together, and the fallen war veterans from the islands
Highlight of visiting North Kohala. IG photo op. Beautiful drive
A nice place for an original statue of King Kamehameha from 1880! It is a wonderful reminder of the history of Hawai'i. I didn't walk in/around the building but there's lots of inflation if you like to read that. There is also a veterans tribute signage as well.

Beautiful park. Limited wading behind a breakwater but no access to the ocean. Once you get there you’ll quickly see why. Huge breaking waves crashing over exposed rocks. No beach whatsoever. So no snorkeling, surfing, boogie boarding, kayaking, etc. Seems to be a local family place. We sat and enjoyed the view. The waves are amazing even on the two calm-day visits we’ve made. If you scramble out onto the breakwater you can get up-close to the breakers. It’s a long way from Kona or Hilo. Lovely.
This beach looks amazing and it’s awesome for swimming hanging and viewing. Grass, sand, and pergola and parking well worth checking out. Great beach!
This is the cleanest beach park. Free too, no need to pay $20 admission. Plenty of fish for snorkeling. Look at the pictures
Huge waves smack the rugged coastline in this small town quiet park. Stroll up to the top for views of the pacific in the look out tower. But tread lightly, scan the ground and trees! You may get lucky and see a few yellow-billed cardinal’s a beautiful bird hailing from South America and introduced to Hawaii.
Beautiful views and very peaceful. We enjoyed sitting on the rocks and watching the waves. There's not a lot to do here, but it would be the perfect stop for a picnic and restroom break. You can walk in the protected water area, but it doesn't look great for swimming.
Only a handful of vehicles here on our visit with our local friend from Waimea, Hawaii ok only a 35 minute drive after stopping at King statue and using facilities. Our friend had to show us this spot because it's her dream spot for a future wedding ceremony. I agree very very special with tremendous " mana" so definitely " kokua!!" 🙏🌈😍 I'm always grateful and counting my blessings to live and enjoy such sacred places of Hawaii islands ( definitely stolen 😭🙏) always remembering to be respectful and GRATEFUL for such beauty and tranquility! All about the Aina! Met a new animal friend!!
We had a suprise! A very pregnant monk seal was there at the same time. I used a zoom lens for my camera. I stayed very far away.
There’s a great little bay perfect for children to swim and play in without having to worry about them being swept away by the waves. I see people surf and boogie board here, the big waves make it a good spot. It’s a great view and is always so gorgeous.

Julie was very helpful the first day. Other helpers were very helpful the second visit. Great selection of Hawaiian-themed clothing and jewelry, kitchen and decorative items. So nice that we drove back from Kona for a second day!
Sales people paid a 2% commission!? REALLY!? This should not be legal....Our labor department needs to step up in these times of economic hardship and make sure that the rights of ALL constituents are FAIRLY represented. Not just those of the biggest donors and other members of the local bourgeois. They are already pushing out Hawaiians and other economically oppressed minorities with real estate speculation and similar dubious endeavors which provide the requisite plausible deniability such that mainland investors are increasingly encouraged to relocate to Hawaii guilt free. Pardon the mini rant!
We stopped here after visiting Kēōkea beach. The woman working in the shop was very friendly and even gave us some information about the area, and other places we should stop by. Got some lovely handmade jewelry to take back home. Got to view some awesome art. Then we went next door to Kings View Cafe and had a bite to eat.
Amazing helpful warm staff!!

Very beautiful! Not crowded even when busy. Nice shade available in the trees there. Easy entrance and trail to drive your vehicle close to the water and tidal pools of you want. Very quiet and pleasant.
This is a great area for swimming, SNORKELING, camping, and relaxing, with fewer crowds. Less sand, but mostly rocks and pebbles. Fishermen were present nearby. Nature cannot be beaten!
Very small, no Sandy's beach but allowed to drink in the park 10am-10pm
Another small gem of a park for folks who are into the vibe and not the amenities.
Not much going on here, but the view is pretty. There is a tiny bathroom that has seen better days and a few picnic tables. We did get to see some whales swimming offshore, which was cool. Also, the view of Maui was nice.
Beautiful view but too rough to get into the water.
We saw 3 whales swimming out in front of this park. Camping by permit. Shelter with picnic benches and two toilets. One official BBQ pit with a few other BBQ pits made out of lava rock down the trail to some flat land where you could pitch a tent to camp with a permit. Great camping area if you like a more isolated situation. No official campsites, just space you have to find, watch out for barbed wire fences.
Watching an amazing sunset on the beach.

Wonderful people doing wonderful work to rehab injured native birds of Hawai'i, as well as conducting important research to help guide wildlife management decisions in the future. Very informative displays and a nice gift shop. Please support them.
The outside courtyard has some nice displays, but you'll be done in 20 min and wont get to see any live animals / patients. A simple walking path around the outside would kick it up a notch.
Very cool educational displays about Hawaii's birds and cute gift shop plus they do importantly critical conservation work.

This park is five star but a challenge. The wind seems to travel in almost every direction on any given hole! this disc golf course is kind of unique and that it shares its greens and fairways with the disc golf community. It has been my experience that the Disc golf community has good golf etiquette and respect. Enjoy your game! best wishes BJ.
Could be the best track on the island. I’ll stand behind that. Thank you, John, for your hospitality. Support this local gem to keep it flourishing. ⛳️
I had a wonderful time playing these adorable 9 par 3 holes course twice. For all-day play and renting a set of clubs and a push cart, it cost me 20$. Such a fun experience if you're an average golfer who doesn't want to pay through the nose to get out on a course on the big island. Very laid back and I will definitely come back and play when I am on the northeast side of the island again.
A 9 hole pitch and put. This is the first time I have tried golfing. This course was perfect for learning. I had YouTube coaches and some fun times with my nephew as we sliced and hunted for balls.
Great for kids and beginners, wonderful park in a great community.
For practice and honing your skills it's perfect! Thanks to the volunteers who keep it in good shape.
North Kohala Golf Course offers a delightful experience with its 9-hole, par-3 layout, perfect for a quick and enjoyable round. The addition of frisbee golf adds a fun, unique twist, making it a must-visit for both traditional and frisbee golf enthusiasts. Highly recommended for a satisfying day on the greens.
Wherever we go we try and find a disc golf course to play! This one was great. VERY well maintained, the golfers were kind to us and we are so thankful. They have golf carts to rent and shaded seating. Be warned you do have to walk a LONG ways to holes 6-8. They are near the tank. But it was worth it! UDisc does have the course mapped!

Absolutely fantastic place to find unique island art and take a glass blowing class! The prices for the art and for the class are affordable and one of a kind!! We can't wait to see our masterpieces! The class was fun, safe, and guided by a true expert. I can't wait to go back for another one!
We had so much fun making glass art. Very kind people and the art is incredible.
So many talented people so little time. Always a pleasure to look through the art produced by these artists. And if possible we try to support local artists!
This place was great to visit. CATHY!! WAS SO NICE, and funny and took the pic for us. The art was amazing to look at and prices not that bad. So don't miss out!!
Customer service 9/10 Value for money 10/10 Quality of experience 8/10 Overall I think this is a place of up and coming Hawaiian local artists and their works. This is a great place to support early stage artists on their journey. Many of them have brilliant works presented here. The price is very humbling and as someone a little familiar with the cost of art creation, barely covers their cost for some of the work. This makes this place perhaps one of the best place to get Hawaiian souvenir: What is better than getting something Locally made Artistically designed One of a kind Supportive to art community Not expensive Much pretty Probably very little. Don't spend your money at chain store that rip you off. Instead. Support artists and acquire hand crafted true Hawaiian heritage here! The store today when I visited was not maned so I left with nothing but some of the items definitely would make interesting collection!
Great little co-op. Lots of great local artist gifts. Sadly the glass blowing shop in the front was closed.
Just WOW!!!! Beautiful creations are here at a very great price!!!! Support the local artists 👩‍🎨
Definitely a must while in Hawi. Beautiful pieces all created by local artists. The staff are all volunteers and are extremely welcoming. Good vibes all around and feels good to just stop in and browse local art.
