I took the Grand Avenue tour and it was very fun and cool. These caves are very large and interesting to walk through. There’s enough lighting to keep the journey interesting and the tour guides are very knowledgeable. They seem to have many different tours for different ability groups and desires. The ground in the cave has padded dirt and even concrete in some places. If you enjoy nature or exercise this is a must see. There’s a lot to do in the surrounding area and even cabins to rent at the park so you can enjoy an extended stay.
Beautiful. We enjoyed touring the caves with guides but also on our own. Very well kept. The Frozen Niagara tour was wonderful for beginners and kids. The little restaurant was tasty and the coffee ice cream was amazing. Clean bathrooms. Friendly staff. We can't wait to come back!
A must see place for all nature lovers!! I was driving to Chicago and stayed the night in Kentucky and I absolutely knew that I had to stop by mammoth cave park before I continued my journey and I only wish that I had more time to spend in the cavern! I was able to do the self guided tour and I went on a national holiday so it was free to get in! Theres a wonderful mini museum in the front of the building so you can learn about the history of the area before you start your journey! I spent about 35-45 minutes doing the self guided tour because I really wanted to immerse myself in the cave and really look at all the details and I also got to speak to a very nice and knowledgeable guide who was kindly answering questions that other people had about the cave. It was such a great experience and I learned so much about the cavern and the surrounding towns I really can’t wait to come back!
Beautiful national park with an amazing cave system, natural landscapes, and a great park system. Tours were reasonably priced and options provided for all skill levels. Topside walking/hiking/biking trails also provided.
This was a really different feel for a National Park but it was very comfortable. They have a grill and bar onsite, a starbucks, the visitor center, a cafe, and a camping store not too far. The free wifi in the main lodge made it very easy to communicate with family and get work done on the laptop. The staff and rangers were super friendly as well. The cave tours are a must. It was an amazing experience on top of the hiking they have around. Highly suggest getting tickets in advance for the tours since they sell out day prior usually. We stayed at the historic cottage which made our stay ten times better. It was updated and had more amenities than I thought. Working shower, toilet, great AC unit, and a fridge too.
Underrated National Park! The cave is wondrous, of course, and the rest of the park is beautiful. Lush, dense green woods, ample wildlife, and historical churches and cemeteries. The Welcome Center is excellent. I went on the River Styx tour, and our ranger Alex was phenomenal.
We had a fun couple of days hiking around the park. We weren't able to go into the cave thanks to the government shutdown but we still loved walking on the trails. They are kept up well and the trees were beautiful. We stayed in the park and it was fun seeing all the critters!
We recently visited Mammoth Cave and did the Historic Tour. It was about a two hour tour through the cave. It was a beautiful cave full of history and our Ranger was Caroline. If you are lucky enough to have her as your guide , your experience will be heightened tenfold. This young lady has more passion for caves, history, and life in general. We also went hiking after the cave tour and it was a beautiful view over the river. I could spend a month here and still not see it all. We will be back !!

Great place for a quick hike with kids and to enjoy nature. Keep an eye open for snails on the trees as well as the abundant poison ivy growing on the edge of the trail.
This was a good, short hike to the sink hole. The second leg of the loop was recently completed, making it much easier to climb back up the hill on stairs. The area was a bit dry when we visited so the sink wasn't very full of water.
Thia trail is beautiful when the wildflowers are blooming!
A great little trail. Would rate it a moderate hike with quite a few stairs to climb
Trail begins in a mossy cedar forest transitioning to hardwood before reaching the sinkhole.
Good hike great view well maintained trail
It’s a Finders keepers place filled with beautiful fall colors. Just explore the place on your own and see if you can find this place.
Great trail with wildflowers and Cedar sink hole...

How can you not give this a 5 star rating? Stay in your car and get across the Green River. Maximum 2 cars on ferry per trip. If their are kids in the car they emwill love it like blowing a car horn in a tunnel.
A really neat little paddlewheel based ferry on the Green River. Only holds up to 3 cars per trip but it is very quick so there is little delay. With excellent parking to access the Echo River Spring Trail with the White's Cave entrance and several easy to medium trails it is a simple 2 miles of a loop. All located on the grounds of the Mammoth Caves National Park. Take the dog (on a leash) and enjoy the 2 mile walk.
Could have been a bridge. Get a second ferry, line them end to end and it pretty much would be a bridge. We have the technology and bridges don’t close at 4pm. Also why is there an outhouse on the ferry anyway? Any charm it had was lost. Who needs to use the restroom on a 15 second ferry ride? Was gonna call a meeting to discuss this with the local council, but I realized it would be better handled as an email. Much like this ferry would be better handled by being a bridge.
I wish zero stars were available. Whoever was working the ferry on July 19 2024 at 4 pm tried to kill my family and I. We were canoeing and paddled up to ferry. It was stopped on the right side of road. We looked and no cars were in line to board. We start to paddle across and they turn engine on and start to come across. My family and I started frantically paddling backwards but we were too close. We hit the side of the boat. My daughter then hit us while in her boat. We grabbed the side of the ferry and pulled ourselves to the other end of ferry and again frantically paddled away from boat. There we no cars trying to board so there was no reason for the ferry to even change sides. I have filled a formal complaint.
Cool little ferry across the Green River. Used it going from Nolin Lake State Park to the Mammoth Cave Visitor center. Free to use, takes about 2 minutes. Wasn’t a wait, we used it during mid December so definitely off tourist season. Kids thought it was awesome!
Give yourself plenty of time to wait your turn to board with only 2 vehicles allowed on board at a time. Peak visitation season is approaching, and it will see lots of traffic. If you have a cave tour, you should plan for an hour to get to the visitors' center.
I’ve lived in Mammoth Cave area all my life and I am 51 and I’m sorry to say that Friday March 17th 2023 we arrived at the ferry before 6:00 and were harassed by the ferryman because he was so lazy or in such a hurry that he didn’t want us to cross because it was 5:58 when we arrived. I’ve never been treated so badly or so rude in my life. I do my job until the doors are locked you need to make sure you do yours until 6:00 pm. By the way is a ridiculous time to close?? What happened to 10:00 pm?? I will also be logging an official complaint because I had my 75 year old mother and my grandchildren with me as well!!!
Memorial Day May 29,2023. 8:30 am we wanted to cross ferry. No one was in line and ferry was on our side. We stopped at sign, but then proceeded down hill to board ferry. The attendant came out of his little area and asked where we were from. We responded, “Bowling Green!” (We have crossed ferry 100’s of times!”) He then proceeded to ask us, “Do the stop signs mean something different in BG? Don’t you know how to stop?” He made us back up the hill and told us to wait until the gate was open. Which we did. Very rude and working for the taxpayers! And again, we were the only car on either side.
