We had an incredible time visiting Mammoth Cave! The cave tour was breathtaking—our guide was knowledgeable and made the history and geology come alive. The sheer size of the chambers and the unique rock formations were unforgettable. After the tour, we went on a nature walk through the surrounding trails, which was peaceful, scenic, and the perfect way to wrap up the visit. Everything was well-organized, the staff were friendly, and the whole experience left us wanting to come back and explore more. Highly recommended!

Great place to see. They have various trails you can go on, some guided some self guided. We went on the Domes and Dripstones tour. This is approximately a 2 hour tour. There are a lot of steps, about 644 total I think it was. These steps go down and then come up. It is also at a fast pace, so kinda hard to take pictures. I’m 66 and it totally wore me out. Just be prepared if you take this tour. You schedule your tour ahead online or there and then they have you meet up.

Mammoth Cave is a great place to visit & take a cave tour and/or just explore the area on several different hiking trails. The visitors center is beautiful inside & outside alike! Pick up a postcard or a National Park reusable bag as a way to support your parks! Also in the area is Cave City, our 1st Buc-ees in Smiths Grove and the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green. A bunch of wonderful places to add to your travel bucket list after your visit to Mammoth Cave!

The park is very nice. We bought tickets to do a self guided cave tour and we also bought my grandson, a 4 yr old, a lantern from the gift store. When we got to the cave, the lady at the entrance of it was very nice and went over the rules. My grandson showed her the lantern he bought for it and she told him he was well prepared for having it and he could use it. When we got down into the cave, there was another worker down there that was rude and stopped mid conversation with another guest to reprimand my grandson for having the lantern down there. His demeanor and way he came at us ruined our whole experience.

We went on the Historic tour at Mammoth Caves and it was awesome. 2 things would have made my experience better 1) the group was over 100 people… I would have knocked it down 2 stars. It’s a shame that the National Parks needs to cram this many people in a tour and 2) the Park Ranger didn’t have a microphone. Are you kidding me… would I give my experience 1-star, no way. I still enjoyed the caves, I definitely felt rushed and pushed through like a cow, but I’d come back regardless bc it’s Mammoth cave people!!! Everyone on the tour was friendly and courteous. It makes it hard to hear the Ranger with babies crying. I’d be selfish to ask parents with kids less than 5 years old not to go on these crowded tours. My group tried to stay in the middle of the pack to stay away from the crying kids just echoing in our ears. The caves were amazing, great walking paths and sturdy railings. There are definitely areas where people may not be able to walk through if you have limited mobility. I have bad knees but I’ll pay for it later! Lots of stairs but totally worth it! We’ll be back to do some of the other tours. Hopefully it will be less full. Next time we’ll try middle of the week instead of a Saturday.

Wow incredible experience! We we're to late to enter the cave, however we walked down to the entrance. I can't wait to travel back and check this out. Gift shop is awesome, staff super friendly well kept grounds and landscaping too!!!

1st time visitor - We were on a family vacation and our adult kids wanted to explore the caves. My wife and I weren't interested in the cave tours but wanted to hike around the trails and explore the Visitor Center. We spent about 2 hours hiking through the forest and enjoying the wildlife while the kids were underground. One of the things we were impressed with is that entrance to the park was free - we live in Maine and have watched as Acadia National Park becomes more and more regulated and pricey. It was nice to explore the area without being nickel-and-dimed to death by park fees. Lovely gift shops with nice stuff available. It was hot when we went so it was good to find lots of shady areas to sit and enjoy a cold drink. I'd recommend this park to anyone.

Mammoth Cave Historic Tour was the greatest tour yet!! It is challenging if you have trouble with a lot of stairs, like 540 of them. Very informative guide, I would definitely recommend to everyone to visit at least once! Very clean trails are everywhere as well. You could spend all week walking trails and taking Cave tours.

Conveniently located inside the park and are operated by The Lodge at Mammoth Cave, we stopped at this establishment. Named for the river that flows for approximately 384 miles through south-central Kentucky, the Green River Grill was an ideal stop for visitors like us seeking to refuel after a day of cave exploration. The menu featured an array of dishes that highlight local ingredients and flavors, from hearty breakfast options to satisfying lunch selections, and sadly limited for those who don’t eat meat or fish. Upon arrival as first-timers, my partner, his family, and I waited a few minutes for a staff member to sit us down at the next available table in the dining room. For starters, we opted for the Fried Mozzarella Cheese Curds. As our main entrees, we decided on the Portabella Sandwich accompanied by Fries and the other by Onion Rings, Lemon Pepper Trout, and Turkey BLT Wrap. The food was delicious, full of flavor, and hit the spot. Prices were good given that there weren’t a lot of options we were used to in New Jersey. The service was friendly and attentive; our server was Michelle. We can recommend this place.

I had the best service at this Grill today. Liz was a wonderful waitress, she was knowledgeable about the menu, super friendly, on the ball with service. The food came out super quick, it was hot and fresh. Our meals both tasted delicious. I ordered the grownup grilled cheese, my partner had the mammoth burger. We ordered biscuits with Huckleberry jam as our appetizer (its a side on the menu). The biscuits were small and so cute. The biscuits were flaky and moist. The jam was just sweet enough, but not too sweet. Will definitely visit again in hopes to have Liz as our waitress, or just to see her friendly smile. She deserves a raise, for all her hard work.

Had a lovely lunch here today for my and my mom’s birthday. The food was decent overall. Certainly could use some work and a few more menu options. The soup and salad were not great. The Hot Brown was surprisingly good, and the desserts were good. Service was excellent! We will come back again.

After our first tour, we had lunch at Green River. We started with fried cheese curds as an appetizer. Hubby ordered the Mammoth Burger without a bun with a side of fries. Hubby thought the texture of the burger was off, mushy like. However, he liked the Mammoth sauce. I ordered the Turkey BLT wrap with fries. There was a little too much bacon for me, though I really liked the herb mayo. For dessert, we had a piece of Derby Pie. All in all, our meal was ok. We do have to say our server was very attentive.

Food and atmosphere were both great! Such a great spot to unwind. After a hike on the trail, it was the perfect lunch spot. We had the fried green tomatoes, cheese curds, and Sweet Chili wings. Delicious.

Hungry after a morning of cave tours we stopped in for lunch. The Moonshine Appletini was a good cocktail, and desserts were great. Huckleberry Sundae was really good.

Got sat down<2 of us> on a very small table, In the sun , while there were numerous open tables in all sections to be seated at by hostess. Asked waitress if we could move to table right next to us, they were not busy at all, she was very accommodating and didn't understand why we were sat there in the first place. I tried ordering fried chicken just to be told they were out, but then told I could get dark meat that would take 45 minutes to prepare. Not good, especially when your board on the entrance says fried chicken served all day. If you were out, then why not erase it off the board? Very disappointed being that was why I went in the first place. How can you run out of something you plan on serving all day, this was at lunchtime. The waitress was apologetic, but it still was a disappointment. I got chicken strips which looked like frozen strips, very bland and yucky. My son had trout. I had a very friendly waitress, but I still wouldn't recommend this place due to the fact they can't keep what they have on the menu in stock and the food we had wasn't any better than some fast food

Some of the fastest flowy trails I've ridden in the area. Love coming here. Great features from fast flowy single-track to rocky, roots, and bumps and jumps.

Great MTB trail!

The historical tour was awesome. Our guide was funny without meaning to be outright funny. She had a great response when the kids asked about bats (“we call [a specific type of bat] fuzzy chicken nuggets”). We loved the fact that the tour included a taste of the history of the site stretching from ancient explorers wandering into the caves, to the nitre-rich soil excavations in the early 1800s, to the development of the tourism industry. We appreciated how the tour emphasized the labor of enslaved African American men who mined the soil from the caves (that was used to create gunpowder for the War of 1812), and later, the men who led daring, charismatic tours of the caves in the earliest days of tourism at the site. The trek itself sounded more intimidating than it was — fewer stairs than I expected for myself personally. Definitely wear long pants and sleeves — it’s chilly and sometimes damp down there! The tour was very family friendly, but I wouldn’t bring a 4-year-old (a young girl was having a tough time and boy, those caves echo). The tour — and the site itself — was suitable and fun for groups of all sizes. I wish we had time to go on more of the different types of Mammoth Caves tours offered by the National Parks Service. We love national parks and hope the federal government keeps funding them!!🙏

Loved: 1. the Historic tour experience. 2.The fabulous tour guides (saved the day with a fussy 1 year old) 3. The CAVE 4.the temperature of the cave in a hot summer day!!! Could have liked better: 1. Availability of tours 2. Space to wait for tours (we had a larger group and two with accessibility needs- limiting what we could do while we waited for our groups and tours) This place was CROWDED. There is a lot to explore outside but our group ranged from 1 year old to 86 years old and due to availability of tickets we had to be in person to purchase and then had to wait around for two different tours. I want to go back to explore more and try another tour for a different perspective of the cave.

We visited Mammoth Cave in mid-August and took the Historic Tour. We didn’t book in advance but still managed to join a group. The caves themselves are truly impressive in scale — a grand and majestic place worth seeing at least once in a lifetime. However, the tour left mixed feelings. The groups are way too large, so we often had to stop: either waiting for others to catch up with the guide or standing still in narrow passages to let the flow of people pass. Because of this, the experience lost its immersive atmosphere, and at some point the tour felt more like endless waiting than exploring a unique natural wonder. Also, keep in mind that it’s quite cold inside the cave, so bring a jacket or sweater even if it’s hot outside. Overall, the place is unique, but the organization of the tour seriously diminishes the experience — oversized groups make it hard to fully enjoy the majesty of the cave.

The caves are super cool, it is very popular, so it feels like an amusement park at times. It was still worth the trip. Ticket options were pretty sparse a week ahead of our visit, so plan your trip in advance if you want options.

Nice history with some ruins. Was not a real hard hike through the cave. Wish we could saw more of the ruins. Apparently that's on a different tour.

So, book tickets way in advance, very popular attraction. Awesome tour. We really enjoyed the cave and history. Plenty of parking for cars, RV's, and Motorhome just show up early in the day. Don't be a procrastinator and show up mid afternoon.

Okay it’s dark and a cave which is a hole in the ground but some come and seem surprised that a place named Mammoth Cave is so large. It’s an absolutely amazing and huge complex of spaces and structures underground that has a fairly long tour that has you squeezing through and climbing over some terrain. Its main feature are its scale and expansive spaces - no dramatic limestone features here- but it’s beautiful in its own way. Highly recommend!

After going through the mammoth cave experience, my blood sugar tanked and I was in desperate need of something to raise it. The park recommended I go here to get something. When I got a drink, we went up to the register, where three employees were talking. We had to get the employee's attention, which wasn't a big deal. Except my boyfriend asked for a watercup and he rudely just pointed without saying anything. So my boyfriend asked to confirm and he ignored us. Then, when I went to pay, my card declined even though it had more than enough money. He again, didn't say anything and so I thought it went through, until another employee stated that it declined. We thanked her for finally using words and helping us because I was already struggling. Instead, they all laughed and made us feel like we did something wrong. All I wanted was a drink to raise my blood sugar; not to leave feeling like an idiot. Wouldn't recommend.

Went in here after a cave tour. Remodeling is still going on outside, and while the inside appears done it could use some final touches. Personal pizza was great. But I know these come in frozen 🤷. Pulled pork sandwich was dry and flavorless. And definitely not worth $7. Service is fine. Despite the large windows brightening up the place, the vibes gave school cafeteria.

A welcome respite from the heat. Why not reward yourself with a sandwich (pre-made) or better yet Chaney's family owned ice cream. I received a generous dip of Big Red Rumble with velvet cake and chocolate. Surprisingly mild (I was expecting a very rich flavor) but nonetheless very creamy and ultimately satisfying. Plenty of seating though you may have to be patient in the ice cream line.

We stopped here for a quick bite before going into the caves. You go over the bridge from the Mammoth Cave Vistor Center to reach the Cafe. We got a pre-made egg salad sandwich for $8. Naturally, food and drinks are overpriced to take advantage of tourists. Despite having to pay a lot for a sandwich, it was delicious. Staff were also friendly. During the coronavirus pandemic: They have social distancing indicators in place. Traffic is one-way. Enter through one set of doors and exit through the next. Seating indoors is limited, but there are a lot of places to sit and eat outside, too.

Great treat after cave tours. Good muffins. Coffee was hot and delicious. Was extremely busy after tour, thought the workers pumped us through Pretty fast. Of coarse it's never cheap.

Food is basic deli fare, pricing is reasonable, and is good for a quick meal. A nice place to relax after hiking.

We stopped here for some ice cream after our first cave tour. They had some nice options and toppings and the ice cream was delish. It was a nice setting right in the park at the visitor center and a refreshing bite after a great cave tour on a hot hot day!

My husband and I stayed here for one night. We stayed at a tent only site in Loop A. This little area is very nice and the bathrooms are very close. The showers are coin operated, which was fine, but they are in need of an upgrade. There is only a soap bar holder for a place to put things in the shower. Overall, it was a really good stay and we would stay here again!

Was here for stargazing and camping, the overall experience was good. They let you check in early around 2PM and check out at 11AM. This is one of the three campgrounds available in the park, and this one is the largest of all (100+ campsites), and nearby the visitors center. There’re a lot of other activities to do like Cave tours, Hiking, etc. The campgrounds are well maintained and they also have restrooms in nearby vicinity which are well maintained. The parking and overall layout of campsite is well planned and spaced. The sites may be too close to one another but overall it is worth the experience. Even though the

Nicely located within the park. Easy access to restrooms, shower facilities, and the visitor center. Campsite 2,3 were wooded and okay. We didn’t care for 5 though. The campsite restrooms were nice and clean as were the shower facilities. Both could have been bigger but were fine.

Obviously there are no "rooms" when camping but every site has a paved driveway. The picnic tables are cement and the site is relatively big. I love the park itself but my complaints are (as a seasoned camper) 1) there are only 2 showers at the campground store (opposed to each camp loop bathroom) AND they are coin operated! I had no cash so there was no showering for me. 2) there is nowhere to swim. Add that to no shower, so we left after our cave tour. I would avoid long weekends. I felt that the loop bathrooms were pretty small given the size of the park. Bathrooms were mostly clean. Beware- park rangers are very active around the park enforcing traffic rules.

This was a fantastic stop between Louisville and Nashville. Wooded with mature trees for shade. We are in an RV....2 spots have full hook up, some electric and some just offer a safe place to park and rest for $25. Huge park for exploring.

Due to government shutdown the caves were closed but the campground was open. We enjoyed the area with our next route to Pigeon Forge in mind. It was raining cats and dogs so mostly geared up and walked around and drove around the area. The Campground has clean and functional, flush toilets with lite up paths enve yhis time of the year (Halloween weekend). Worth stop if in the area.

Really nice campground! We enjoyed our stay, even with the rain. Bring your own quarters for the showers and laundry… and bring extra! The change machine was out of order the whole time we were here, and if a washer, dryer, or shower eats your quarters when the camp store isn’t open, you’re out of luck. The camp store isn’t open very late, so get there early for whatever you’ll need. That said, the common areas are very clean!

This is an easy hike but you need good footwear and to be paying attention as there are roots and rocks. This is not all ability accessible but it is for all fitness levels to include children if you are completely mobile. There are places with stairs and some benches. The trails are well maintained

Loved this trail! Saw a baby deer and her mom eating, the river and two turtles. Its definitely a moderate trail, elevation does decrease and increase, and the trail is not that wide.

My new favorite hike at Mammoth Cave National Park. The view from the bluffs is the best in the park in my opinion. Hiking through this narrow and deep section of the Green River Valley is the closest thing to an Appalachian hiking experience to be found in the park, and it’s pretty convincing. Also, as with many trails in the park, it offers all kinds of really appealing opportunities for a loop hike.

Haven't been to Mammoth cave since I was pregnant with my now, 19 year old son! It was fun to stop in and see, explore, hike and enjoy. We were able to get into mammoth cave, but didn't go down into the cave, but decided to explore the land above. We all had such an amazing time exploring and seeing my son's reaction to the difference in landscape. This was definitely a wonderful afternoon. I would most definitely recommend taking a trip here or even stopping on your way through.

Wonderful short trail to hike with your family. Great vantage point of the Green River during your trek. You pass a really cool bat cave. Also some really neat Rick formations. Highly recommend squeezing this in after or before your cave tour. The trail head is right next to the Historic tour entrance and will lead you back to the parking lot. Don’t miss out on this one.

A beautiful loop trail with a few inclines. Very scenic. Mammoth Cave is normally busy so this trail has a lot of foot traffic.

This is a easy hike and very scenic it will lead you down to the river with some great overlooks well maintained. As you reach the bottom it states that this was a dock area for the paddle wheel boats. You can find a water gage marker along the trail that is grown into a tree. Definitely will be back to hike again! Located at the visitor parking center. Some magnificent old trees also.

I wanted to love Mammoth Cave so much. Our family did the Historic Cave Tour, and though our guide was very passionate and knowledgeable, we just didn’t love it. The tour group was too large, and it was so fast paced that we weren’t able to slow down and enjoy the cave.

I really like the introduction to the cave system and that is multi ability accessible. The layers and colors of the limestone is amazing and it's an experience, if not a little wet to see the waterfall doing nature's work of erosion.

The discovery tour was very nice. 2 hours / 2 miles. The self guided one hardly goes into the cave, select one of the tours instead. Be on time, you can’t get in early or later than ur ticket time because the tickets are usually sold out. Would suggest booking in advance from the website.

It's a nice short trail that's a good introduction to the bigger caves. It's very chilly down there, even during the hottest summer, so make sure to bring a jacket or other warm clothing

Went on the gothic avenue tour. Absolutely loved the tour. The guides were very informative. Would love to explore here more and experience different tours. It was such a relief when that cool air hits ya. Bring a jacket it's around 54 degrees inside

I absolutely love Mammoth cave and the tours here are some of the best cave tours anywhere in the country. They take you through the rich history of mammoth cave and the lantern light tours really make you imagine how it would have been as an early explorer of these caves.

Awesome. Self guided tour really cool. Knowledgeable staff in the caves. Be advised the guided tours sell out - been told most tours sell out weeks in advance. Smells like limestone lol.
