Very impressive, traditional, and quiet place. It was not crowded at the time we visited, and we could enjoy the place entirely, and take some nice pictures.
This is a beautiful local temple. No tourists here. It is a popular, active temple. Very crowded at the New Year.
It is peaceful and cool place to spend time you must visit
Woow so beautiful and clearn, i when there today and hoping to go again.

(Translated by Google) Also known as "Naritasan Fudoson," this temple is famous for its prayers for traffic safety and for being the place where celebrities come to throw beans on Setsubun (the end of winter). It's a branch temple of Naritasan Shinshoji Temple in Narita City, Chiba Prefecture, but it was originally built on the site of Kori Amusement Park, the predecessor to Hirakata Park. It was founded in 1934 (Showa 9). There are signs posted all over the place that say something like "Money governs everything in the afterlife," which is a bit disheartening, but if you accept that this is the site of the original amusement park, then the commercialism doesn't bother you. I wonder what "Shokonzuka" is? I thought it was a mound for burying jokes that didn't go over well, but I was wrong. It was apparently built to console the spirits of comedians who dedicated themselves to the development of comedy. I wonder if Kanbi, Knock, and Yasushi are also here. This unique sight is unique to this place, and it is probably the most well-known giant tree in the Keihan area. However, the lower part of the camphor tree itself is surrounded by shrines, fences, and flags, and the upper part is surrounded by platform structures, so only a small part of it can be seen. Tomorogi Shrine was founded in 1456 when Emperor Tsuchimikado built Hachiman Shrine as a guardian deity when he was building his new residence. The main deities enshrined are Kamiyomata Wake no Mikoto (ward off evil), Sugawara no Michizane (scholarship), and Ibaraki no Muraji Sugiko (civil engineering and architecture). Historically, the shrine was burned down during the succession dispute between Hatakeyama Yoshinari and Hatakeyama Nagamasa, which led to the Onin War, and only Hachiman Shrine remained. In the Meiji period, Wakayama Shrine, Nihonmatsu Shrine, and Oma Shrine merged with Hachiman Shrine, and the name Tomorogi Shrine was chosen after the place name. The approach to the shrine is lined with white torii gates and stairs, and there is a temizuya (purification fountain), Hotei statue, and a spring called Gosho-mizu behind it. Perhaps it is a remnant of the imperial family. At the top of the stairs, there is a worship hall, and within the grounds is a Jogan Inari shrine. One of the “Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara”, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this place seems off by design. It pretty much feels like I am in ancient China. Well anyway, it is inspired by ancient China. You’ll see two pagoda standing tall from the main gate. One is original, the other is reconstructed. This place is really beautiful. The statues of all wood-carved Buddha offer a sense of spiritual feeling of enlightenment. You should visit here when you are in Nara, Japan.
Cherry Blossom season is quiet compared to other super crowded sites. It’s a must visit if you love ancient architectures & history. It felt like travel back in time of 1000 years while standing there in the rain & enjoy the sight of the pagodas. Very zen & relaxing when there are less people around!
Yakushiji Temple (薬師寺), located in Nara, Japan, is one of the most significant and ancient Buddhist temples in the country. Originally constructed in 680 CE during the Asuka period by Emperor Tenmu, the temple was built to pray for the recovery of his wife, Empress Jitō. Dedicated to Yakushi Nyorai, the Buddha of Medicine and Healing, the temple symbolizes hope and spiritual healing. Yakushiji is renowned for its symmetrical layout and stunning architecture, epitomizing the classical style of early Japanese Buddhism. The temple complex includes several iconic structures, most notably the East Pagoda (東塔, Tōtō), a three-story pagoda dating back to the 8th century. This is the only original structure that survived multiple fires and is celebrated for its elegant design and intricate details. The West Pagoda (西塔, Saitō) and the Kondō (金堂, Main Hall) have been meticulously reconstructed to preserve their historical and spiritual significance. Inside the Kondō, visitors can find an extraordinary bronze triad statue of Yakushi Nyorai flanked by two Bodhisattvas, exemplifying artistic mastery from the Hakuho period. These statues are considered national treasures and reflect the deep devotion to Buddhist teachings. In addition to its architectural and artistic treasures, Yakushiji Temple serves as an active center for Buddhist worship and meditation. The temple’s tranquil atmosphere and rich history make it a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a must-visit destination for those seeking to explore Japan’s cultural and spiritual heritage.
This is a peaceful temple belonging to the Yogācāra school of Buddhism. It features a beautiful pagoda and murals depicting scenes from the Great Tang Dynasty’s journeys to the Western Regions. It’s a great place for those interested in Buddhist teachings and history. Legend has it that relics of Xuanzang are enshrined here.
Marvelous, an over 13-hundred years old stupa and other rebuilt buildings show us ancient views.
July 5th 2025 I attended a group tour organised by Nara International Citizen centre, along with students from NAIST and Nara University. We went to three places, Yakushi-Ji is our first stop. We were just in time to see the buddhist monks performing their prayers (as you can see from the video). This place temple specifically feels oddly calming, reminding me of Todai-ji. As you walk around, enjoying the lotus flowers and ancient architectures. Hopefully, you'll feel as peaceful and relaxed as I did!
Great ancient Buddhist temple in Japan. Two Three-storied pagodas are beautiful!! Gilt bronze Buddhist statue of "Bhaisajyaguru Triad" is very impressive.
Seem most temple in Japan is nice ..This temple is too... The left side pagoda has these bronze relief scenes inside of Buddha that are incredible (no photos allowed). It’s a rather large complex with much to view, but seems like U could cover it in 1/2hours...

Great place ! In Osaka center, but away from its frenzy. A calm heaven in the city. The staff is really nice, friendly, helpful and English speaking. Delicious tea in a temple and Japanese garden environment. Have some cash as credit cards are not accepted, closes at 17.00.
The food is great and I love the tea! It's beautiful and very calm. They have an english menu aswell!
Wonderful is the only word to describe this place. Run by lovely people and the best matcha tiramisu in this world
(Translated by Google) It was a great place to take a break in Horie! Although it was a Sunday afternoon, I was able to get in easily without waiting. The price is a little high. Drinks and sweets cost about 1,500 yen per person. However, it is relatively quiet and you can forget the hustle and bustle of the city. (Original) 堀江で休憩するにはとっても良かった! 日曜日の午後だけど、待たずにすんなり入れました。価格は少しお高め。 ドリンクとスイーツで1人1500円くらい。 でも割と静かで都会の喧騒を忘れられます。
(Translated by Google) I used it at a cafe. This is a temple cafe located in the stylish city of Horie where you can feel the stylish and wonderful Japanese wabi-sabi. There are seats inside and on the terrace, and if there is space, you can choose your favorite seat. Due to the large number of inbound customers The menu table is written in alphabetical English. Of course, it seems that English is available. I think it's an oasis in the city where you can enjoy delicious tea such as gyokuro, matcha, and hojicha. During the evening we went, the courtyard was decorated with atmospheric candlelight, and we sipped wine while listening to live music. Is this a temple? The more I thought, the better the atmosphere. The children also enjoyed the Tanabata Festival. There is also a cafe here, and I would like to come again! (Translated by Google) I had some delicious tea. There was a bit of a wait, but the seats outside were comfortable. As for the system, you first talk to the staff at the restaurant and have them reserve a seat for you, then go to the cash register to order, and wait at your seat for your order to arrive. If you are looking for a little relaxation in this area, I highly recommend it. The wind was very pleasant. The cold brewed tea had a strong taste and was satisfying. While there are many shops that serve cold-brew tea and the taste is bland, this one had a proper taste and was delicious. Sprawling Buddhist temple complex known for its huge papier-mâché tiger guarding the entrance.

Hidden gem to be found. It is not so easy to get here, 2 train rides then taxi - that's what we did. On the way back we waited for the bus. It's all the way in the mountain area and away from tourists. Staff were very welcoming, not so many people yet as it isn't known well yet. Very nice walking hike up the mountain without crowds as in many tourist areas. Too bad when we were there the udon place was closed. Did buy some charms special to the tiger temple and donated to the temple. Nice view when you reached the top. As it was in the mountain area, it was a bit chilly. There was also bungee jumping on the bridge but it was not operating when we were there. Overall visit was superb. We made an effort to get here and it was worth it.
Hiked here from Shigisanguchi on the other side of the mountains. Wonderful home and so magical to enter the temple grounds from the peak. The temple complex is breathtaking - so many stunning views together with the cute tiger symbolism, this place gives you a great feeling. I spent a good 2-3 hours strolling through the various parts of the temple. Highly recommend heading to the peak for the best views.
Wonderful shrines and statues, we almost didn't go because it was close to closing but I'm so glad we did. Even just an hour here is worth your time and the old couple running the shop were very nice to still serve us ice cream 20mins before closing, delicious btw and we got to eat it while waiting for the bus. We bought a tiger themed omomori and prayed at some of the stations, donated at all the ones we passed. Very beautiful space
Chogosonshiji is a temple full of tigers. These are not the scary, man-eating type, however, but spirit animals that offer blessings to visitors. There is also a scroll that may be considered one of the world's first manga. The temple is most easily accessed from Oji Station on the Kintetsu Line. From the north exit, you can take a bus bound for Shigi-sammon. The temple is a five-minute walk from the Shigi-ohashi bus stop. It is also possible to ride a cable car up the mountain from Shigisanguchi Station. We visited it on August 2024 during our stay at Gyokuzoin. I suggest to visit it by night to get an even best experience -so magical with all the lights.
Beautiful temple complex with a large tiger statue, overlooking a really nice valley. The place feels quite secluded and peaceful. The morning ceremony at 6:30 can be attended by anyone. Recommend to register in advance if you want to go inside to see the monks up close during the ceremony (not a mush though). This complex is quite large, and boasts what was said to be the largest Jizo statue in Japan.
Amazing temple, very low foot traffic when we went mid day on a Monday. So glad we took the day off work and came here, it was well worth the trip from Tokyo to see. Incredibly peaceful and the autumn colors and breeze made for an extra special trip. Now (early November) through December 2025 there is a special Osaka Hanshin Tigers goshuin only available in the main temple at the very top.
It's quite far from everything but it's worth it for someone who wants some calm. Not many tourists and a lot to see! Free entry
We spent a night at this temple, and it was a wonderful experience. We enjoyed a traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast, as well as a beautiful ceremony with the monks. Staying overnight lets you experience the temple in total quiet and witness both sunrise and sunset. I highly recommend this place for its beauty and unique cultural experience.
