The groomsmen and I surprised my friend to a cottage trip and ATV tour in the area. Hands down the ATV tour was the highlight of the trip! We were part of a group of six, with four of us (including the groom) in the bachelor party group and a daughter-mother pair. Jacob (our cool guide from Australia) made sure everyone in the group knew what they were doing, and kept everyone safe. He took us on a beautiful four-hour tour that gradually became more technically challenging, and by the end of it, everyone was confidently handling their ATV. We had a couple of small incidents (going off trail or stuck), but Jacob was always there to get us out of any sticky situations. He also made sure we had plenty of short breaks along the way at various beautiful spots. Four hours was perfect - we felt any shorter and you'd leave wanting more. Most importantly, the groom was surprised and really enjoyed the experience! In fact, everyone in my group loved it. Highly recommend both Jacob and the 4 hour ATV tour at Back Country Tours! P.S. - make sure to bring a snack (like protein bars) and water.
Great snowmobiling experience. BCT reservation and service was great and smooth since the first contacts. Kim is in charge and is so nice person.
Kim was amazing and it was an experience of a lifetime. I'm from the city and we don't get to do outdoorsy stuff often. My boyfriend and I had a blast and will totally be returning
Overall, would absolutely recommend this experience to anyone in the area! Our group had an awesome time and the tour was reasonably priced for what you get. The scenery was great - saw a couple bears too. Would be nice if they allowed some "free time" to play around on the ATVs (aside from just following the leader on the trails), but overall a good experience. Definitely fairly physically demanding though.
What a blast! We rented snowmobiles for 5 hours and had such a great time! We were true beginners but Holly was so helpful and we were good to go! Absolutely worth it if you get a chance and these guys do it right! We will hopefully be back to do some ATV runs in the warmer weather. Thank you so much for making our first time a great one!
Kim was such a patient and fun guide. For a first time ATV user she was able to go at a pace that worked for me and made me feel comfortable throughout the experience. My husband and I chose to do this as a kid-free adventure for our anniversary and we will definitely be back. The trails were a beautiful way to explore the area and see the fall colours, too. We had a scenic and easy route and saw streams and lakes, hillside, and beautiful forests on our trail. For those who are cautious like me, this is one adventure you definitely need to try. I am so happy that I did it and that I pushed past my fears. I highly recommend Back Country Tours—you will don’t be disappointed.
Really good time snowmobiling with this group. Great instructions given at the outset, and an awesome run through the forest, topped off by the best part....100km across the lake for the finish! The ladies in the office and our guide, Joe, were all great to deal with and we had a blast.
While the boat was satisfactory...the experience of renting it was not a positive one. They were not prepared for us by having the boat ready...then they switched the boat for another one...it took 4 hours to complete the rental. The manager is difficult at best. The other young man that took over for him was EXCELLENT to deal with...but his professionalism was not enough to make up for this overall experience.

Really fun place to visit. Easy hike if you stay to path. For the more adventurous, you can carefully walk on large rocks. Don’t get too close to edge. Above the falls are lovely pools of water.
I've been several times,I never get tired of seeing such beauty. I brought my daughters with me for the first time. We had the best day creating memories that will last a life time
Did the Kayak in from Algonquin Outfitters up the river to the base of the falls. An amazing river paddle with turtles, frogs, birds, butterflies, and fellow paddlers. Once at the falls you can climb to the path that takes you to the top of the falls or you can start rock hopping up the falls itself. Once at the top you can view the power of the water as it cuts through the rocks, take a dip in the moving water (with caution and supervision) or bathe on the rocks in the sun. A beautiful hike, or paddle to a little gem in nature.
Ragged falls is a nice place to be if you have around 4 hours to spend. An option to be here is via Kayak or Canoe. You can rent it out from any of the liveries on the shores of oxtongue river and paddle upstream to the falls. The upstream paddle wasn't so difficult during spring even when the fall looked pretty powerful. On the was up and back you can spot loons as well as a few other birds. There is a short hike as well which can be done after securing your kayaks at the bottom of the falls. It would hardly take ten minutes to climb all the way up.
What a stunning and hidden little gem. Not a far walk from the parking lot but mind you, somewhat uphill and no paved pathways. Which in a sense add to the natural beauty. Visit if you’re in the area. We went on a weekday in Sept so it was nice and quiet and got to sit on the rocks in peace and hear the water
The Ragged falls are surprisingly beautiful and easily accessible (just a 300m hike from the parking to the fall). The view of the lake from the falls is nice too. It’s a very serene region.
This is a hike you don't want to miss. The Reagan Falls are quite spectacular. Hikers and photographers alike we'll enjoy this Trail. Be prepared for some change an elevations. The Younger You Are the easier they will be. But even as a senior you shouldn't have too much trouble navigating the trail. You won't want to miss the view. Enjoy! 😊
Beautiful and fast moving waterfalls! Be prepared for mucky/muddy walk but definitely worth it. Maybe 10 minutes from the parking lot to the falls. The further up you walk gives you different perspectives from above. Can also walk down to below the falls. Great exploring on the trail seeing wild mushrooms, flowers and various tress too. Spent about 30 minutes.

What a delightful find on an afternoon bike ride. After spying the perfect addition to a vacant wall, we returned home and sent pictures of the area and Karen was quick to virtually impose the stunning Jessica Lin piece “After the Rain”. We thought we were pretty quick too, but when we called back the next day, the piece had been bought! Karen immediately reached out to her artist and confirmed she was doing one more in the series. Karen even came to our home (and delivered the final product) to see what size was best for the space. Such a pleasure to work with Karen, as her passion, insight and interesting life, not to mention her delightfully charming ‘cabin’ all made for the most pleasurable of experiences.
Picture a charming log cabin housing a small art gallery, in the woods, just outside of Algonquin Parks West gate. Imagine a cozy, rustic cabin nestled among tall pine trees along a small stream. This gallery showcases the works of talented local artists, with paintings, sculptures, and crafts inspired by the natural beauty of the surrounding forest. The tranquil setting enhances the appreciation of art and creates a unique, serene experience for visitors. When travelling along Hwy 60, I highly recommend you drop in.
Beautiful gallery in Dwight,Ontario has amazing art, jewellery and pottery etc. They were very helpful and knowledgeable about the artists. Bought beautiful sterling silver earrings and pottery, very happy with my purchase! Sept/24 Cindy Toronto, Ontario
Amazing gallery with work by local artists and throughout Canada. Paintings, carvings, jewelry and ceramics, plus so much more. Featuring several galleries, it is worth stopping in to see what treasures await. The real treasures are the shopkeepers who made my visit extraordinary and I look forward to returning.
Nice, friendly staff and good selection of Ontario-made arts and crafts. Free admission as it's more of a store than a gallery. A little overpriced, but authentic items. Reccomend stopping by if you're passing through, but don't go out of your way to visit here.
It is always a treat to wander through this eclectic gallery of a store. I inevitably find a cool new artisan, a great piece of pottery, or jewelry (or both!). The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, enthusiastic about the pieces they sell and the artists who created them. Such a warm, inviting atmosphere...it's honestly hard to narrow down your choices and leave. A little gem nestled in the woods, surrounded by a wildflower garden that simply must be seen. I go back every time I visit Algonquin park. Totally worth the drive!
A very unique little spot that my husband and I stumbled upon while driving to our next campsite. It was a happy surprise to find. The workers there are very friendly, the art is all very unique and beautiful. All Canadian artists too, there is a gallery in the lower level that showcases some nice art pieces. Now the shop is a bit overpriced, but a lot of it is one of a kind so it makes sense. I'd recommend it to anyone passing near it
Great collection of art. I wish I had more wall space! The place is full of well curated Canadian-made items so browsing is fun. I bought a beautiful purse that I’m very happy with.

I have been coming here forever! Used to visit with the family during summer vacations. Now my husband and I come here for one reason only. The fudge!! Only the best fudge I've ever tasted! You'll find your classic flavors but also some more "trendy" or tasty combinations to try.If we're in the area we always make sure to stop in. Last time, they didn't open for another 30 minutes but let us in anyways. That was very appreciated. Definitely worth a stop in my opinion!
Gem of a place leading to Algonquin Provincial Park. Lots of gifts and excellent selection. Place is kinda big. And definitely get the fudge! Worth every single penny!
Amazing place to visit, shop and Spend Money! 😉🎉😊 The Owners are wonderful. They greeted us with smiles and a welcome, warm hello. Walk slowly to see everything! Wonderful giftware, clothing, moccasins, shirts, Leggings, hoodies, hats, fudge and much more. Something for everyone and for yourself! I never walk out of there without spending a ton of money! Canadian Made items and unique Indigenous items such as fabulous Dream Catchers. I added 4 of those to my treatment rooms at m y medical office. Everyone comments how wonderful they are. I recommend the Dwight Trading Post. Worth the drive to stop in and buy your gifts or something for yourself. 10 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Very kind staff here Beautiful shop ..with something for everyone..books ,bags ,clothes, cups ect ( no pictures policy for inside the store )
A favourite stop every time we are anywhere near Dwight! The owners do an amazing job keeping the store clean and fresh. They have their best selling items but also change things up by promoting local. So much of their product is made in Canada. Lovely leather bags and purses, moccasins, yoga pants and beautiful art cards. You must try some of their fudge which is made on site! My favourite flavour is the coffee and Baileys. 😊 See you again Dwight Trading Post!!
This is a typical tourist spot. There is a good variety of dust catchers, jewelry and novelty clothing. It is definitely worth seeing it all, but is you want to purchase something, you better have the budget for it. Since the store has been sold, many years ago, it has undergone a significant change and reminds a little bit more on a wilderness outfitter, rather than a trading post, the way they used to be. Why do I not give 5 stars? Here the reasons: the totem pole outside, is a sacred item, belonging to the native culture in British Columbia. To use it as a tourist attraction, in front of a store is culturally inappropriate. Various, large carvings of native war-chief for correlational purposes is even worse, for the same reason. It's about as bad, as the black slave figures for the garden, cottagers used to have. I hoped we all had this understood by now, and the people who have not, should not be encouraged by such displays!!! The lady behind the counter (owner?) stopped me from taking photographs inside, apparently to protect the rights of the artists. For one, I do not think she ever talked to the artists first, and secondly, I can not imagine any artist, wanting to be featured or promoted, as this increases sales (Yes, I do know a bunch of artists). So........what ever........really!
Highly recommended! The best shop - stop you will make on your trip. Very northern - authentic feel with a large assortment of unique high quality items. A pronounced Made in Canada vibe on the merchandise. Lots of selection. An amazing Moccasin display. We will definitely be back.
Probably one of the nicest “gotcha shops” I’ve visited in years. Very tasteful Canadian made goods for sale. Beautiful leather goods and top quality Canadian made moccasins for sale. Don’t let the exterior fool you, inside is cosy and items are displayed well. We will be back to pick up winter footwear!

A fabulous neighbourhood library with welcoming staff, friendly atmosphere, amazing events for all ages!
This is a small but delightful municipality library. It hasn't the resources or space to provide a broad selection of summer reading. However it is a very friendly personable space. Staff are always keen to help you find something or an alternative. There is space for children programming and space for computer use. Check hours on-line as they vary and may be shorter than expected.
Nice little spot to spend a rainy afternoon. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Fairly current selection of movie DVDs to sign out. Fun and interesting programs for kids and adults.
Inside or outside, a great place to sit and read.

These folks are pros. They have literally been outfitting and guiding for generations. The staff quickly appreciated that while this was our first trip into Algonquin, it was not our first time in a canoe or camping, and helped us set up a route that was just what we were looking for. We opted for the full outfitting (summer trout are tough to catch) and the meals they supplied were a thoughtful collection of fresh and prepared ingredients for our 4-day trip that allowed my backcountry-chef son to show off his skills. Bring your appetite, the portions are hearty! Sarah was very helpful in dialing in the gear they provided, as we brought some of our own. Don’t be shy about taking the warmer sleeping bag (I was gad I had it). Tanner made things wonderfully convenient for us as he suggested we return the gear to one of their locations closer to our rented cottage. Professional, knowledgeable, friendly and flexible. Algonquin Outfitters was a key component in making this trip successful and unforgettable.
A highly professional and friendly outfit, which I have no hesitation in recommending. A first time family canoe & camp outing in Algonquin Provincial Park. On holiday from the U.K., took the guided option for a 2 night/ 3 day trip. We also took the option to stay in a tent cabin the night before & after our trip, basic but comfortable. We were greeted by the lovely Sarah who briefed us on the following days format; breakfast, gear prep, food check. The canoes & gear provided were all in good condition, our guide Camil walking us through the equipment and how to pack. The trip itself was fantastic, our camp sites on both nights were top notch; it works on a first dibs basis, best sites go first. Camil was terrific, very patient and accommodating; sorting breakfast, lunch, and cooking us up a fine dinner over the fire both nights; giving us the outdoor living do’s and don’ts along the way. You can expect a good amount of paddling, we did over 10miles on day 1, along with a portage, leaves you tired but still excited to be setting up camp and lighting the fire. Day 2 was lighter on the paddling but harder on the portage, worth it for the campsite we ended up at. The family are all generally fit but none of us athletes, pretty sure trips can be orientated to your age/fitness. I’m early 60’s, wife mid 50’s and the kids, 23, 17 & 15; all coped with this new experience and would love to do it again. Next time I would opt for a longer trip, stopping on a camp site for a couple of nights rather than move each night. Thanks once again to Camil & Sarah for such great organisation and making it such a great trip🤗
They’ve got everything you need! Super helpful and well equipped team that will guide you to pick your canoe trail as well. Highly recommend canoeing all the way to the falls where there’s a spot to pull up your canoe and do a short hike beside the waterfall. Absolutely stunning! Don’t miss the lovely lotuses along the way!
The best place to rent kayaks and canoes at an affordable rate! We visited in the fall, and the colours were absolutely stunning. We took the route to Ragged Falls — it took us about three hours round trip, and we spotted a variety of wildlife along the way. The route was calm, quiet, and incredibly beautiful. The staff at the store were amazing and very helpful, and the kayak and accessories we received were clean and in excellent condition. Highly recommend!
We rented both a canoe and kayak. Equipment is well maintained and staff was very helpful. We were beginners but they made us feel comfortable. Location is convenient and beautiful.
We had an incredible experience at Algonquin Outfitters! Our group of arrived after hours, we stayed the night at their base camp. They had everything ready and waiting for us that night. The next day, our guide, Annie, was absolutely fantastic, giving us all the tips and confidence we needed to continue our trip on our own. They truly thought of everything, and the food was delicious! The whole experience was seamless and made our adventure so much better. Highly recommend!
I recently visited Algonquin Outfitters at Oxtongue Lake, and it was amazing! Renting kayaks and gear was very convenient, and the staff were friendly and ready to help with any questions. The lake itself is incredible, especially in the fall—calm waters surrounded by forests in bright colors, a true paradise for photos and enjoying nature. A great place if you want to spend a day outdoors, soaking in the beauty of Algonquin.
I am so grateful for the services Algonquin Outfitters offers! We have been using their services for years now! We rented canoes and used the delivery service to the access point. We also needed to rent a couple barrels for our canoe trip as we were short a couple for our group and they had exactly what we needed. I love how I can book it all online way in advance. The staff are friendly and helpful. The store at Oxtongue Lake has so much as well! There is some history of AO on the wall going up the stairs if you are into that kinda stuff. Super neat! We highly recommend their services and store!

Easy, mostly flat trail, good for small kids. Our two year old was able to traverse the entire main trail (about 1.5km) with minimal assistance (just had to carry him over a muddy stretch). Some boardwalk and a few stairs. Well marked, didn’t explore the 15 extra loops off the main path but that would make it a longer and more challenging hike for those inclined. Boardwalk is in need of maintenance, some collapsed, broken or missing boards. Not impassable by any means but proceed with caution. Great little family friendly hiking spot if you’re not looking to drive all the way into Algonquin. Hopefully it gets the needed maintenance.
It needs some post-winter maintenance. The bridges were broken, many trails were blocked by fallen trees and eventually we had to turn back because it was too boggy to continue.
Abandoned. Zero Star. Looks like someone is embezzling whatever funding this place gets. It’s an overgrown disaster! Pump track is a joke, too small even if maintained. Trails, bring long pants you will be cut up from overgrowth if you’re able to even get through. Just terrible! Very bad
The trails are very short. On a bike it wouldn't take long to complete all the trails. The place is nice but could use a update. The pump track was run down and unusable. The lookout didn't really offer a great view.
I would strongly advise avoiding this trail. All the the bridges are broken and unsafe. Most the the trails are overgrown and there are lots of fallen trees blocking the way. It is definitely not a biking trail.
Needs a lot of Maintenance. Lots of holes on the board walks. Got ¾ around the main loop and then had to start pushing through overgrowth which was alot of raspberrie bushes with spikes and muddy pathway. Eventually gave up and turned around as the kids were whining and it started pouring. Most of the side trails were non existent as well.
Looking for a new place to hike, we parked and quickly turned around as the path was overgrown.
Non longer exists. Taken over by monster homes.

John has to be the best, bought a used PWC from him, he made sure everything was in order and working properly and he even delivered it to me, highly recommend him
Beware of Haliburton Sled Rentals and Kennisis Marina. I found them to be deeply unprofessional and dishonest. They told me that all the sleds would be 2015 or 2016 models. In reality, the sleds in our group were 2012 and 2013 models with lots of kilometers. When you return the sled, they will fill the tank and charge you for the gas. No problem there, except they will charge you at least 10x the going rate. (About $40/sled for most of our group, even though they were close to full). Best to avoid.

My family and I rented a Pontoon(22'?) and a PWC(Seadoo GTX 150?) for a week in August(17-23) this year. The boats were in great shape and Liam and his staff were friendly, knowledgeable and ready to give a hand if need be. Certainly would come back again!
Absolutely incredible people that own this and a very family friendly area. The view is incredible. Such a beautiful place
Recently rented a snowmobile from Liam! Super helpful and flexible. Great experience and he went above and beyond when we needed an extra machine for a friend last minute because of a breakdown during our trip. Would highly recommend! We spoke to Liam, his services and efforts to help grow the lake of bays area deserves much credit. Will definitely be back back in the summer months to try out the surf boat rentals !!!
A group of friends rented snowmobiles from Lake of Bays Marina to join us on the trails for the day. Great experience all-around. The 2-up sleds they got came with heated grips for passengers (which is an expensive upgrade from BRP). We had a mechanical issue early on with one of the sleds, but Liam was quick to shuttle a replacement out to us, saving what could’ve been a day-ruiner from other rental places.
Liam and his small team are outstanding in being very personal and service oriented. While other larger players focus on revenue - Liam focuses on customers and will go over and above to do the right thing. Very impressed!!
Had a fabulous day out with Logan from Lake of Bays Marina on a 1/2 day (4 hour) water sport day. It is easily one of the highlights of our summer. Like many Canadians we had a staycation in Ontario this summer as we looked for stuff to do. As a family who has never done water sports this looked like a great experience . I must have called the company at least 4 times to get info and ask all the details and everyone I spoke to was so kind and understanding. We finally arrived for the day with 5 teenagers and had a great time with tubing and wakeboarding. Logan was an amazing guide and instructor, so patient and supportive and a great guy to talk to. Just being on the boat cruising around the Lake of Bays is one of my fav memories of the summer. A bit expensive for sure , but ultimately worth it for the day experience.
Girls weekend so we went to see waterski show at Lake of Bays Marina and enjoyed listening to live music as well. Nice bunch of people.
Spent an hour with Simon and both my daughter and I were up on our skis and cruising around the lake. First time for her. We had a great time and she especially loved trying fly boarding too! We'll be back next year for more tips and tricks.
