The MacLaren Art Centre in Barrie is a must-visit for art enthusiasts, showcasing a diverse collection of over 27,000 artworks including paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, photographs, and more. The center hosts rotating exhibitions featuring contemporary and historical artists as well as community and education programs offering workshops, lectures, tours, and events.
Such an amazing place. The quality of the exhibits is usually amazing. I enjoy that the curator has a modern, somewhat-conceptual lean. It's a great place for a coffee after you check out the gallery, or just as a break from the downtown area.
Graeme L — Google review
Got our passport photos done here and one for an infant. Rob was very patient and understanding when it came to that one. Price was right and we were in and out in 20 minutes. 5/5!
Mitchel R — Google review
Nice (small) museum. Good temporary exhibits. I'd have liked to see more of the permanent collection. We attended the Sunday drop in art studio experience and had a great time making art with their educator! The cafe was great too!
Heather M — Google review
We checked this small studio out on a Saturday morning. The ladies at the front desk were super friendly and helpful. If you live in the area it is well worth the visit. There was a juried art show for grade 12 students of simcoe County. The participants art work was awesome and interesting. Thank you for a fine visit and your welcoming staff.
Joseph B — Google review
Unfortunately, didn’t have a chance to see the gallery itself but had a great interaction with the lovely staff. Hopefully I’ll be back in Barrie to visit the art gallery. Made a stop there on my 225km bicycle ride to Bracebridge. The staff were very kind and allowed me to bring my bicycle inside while I had lunch at Lazy Tulip cafe. Thank you!

The Courtyard at the MacLaren is such a beautiful place to host your wedding ceremony! The natural lighting coming in paired with the way you can set it up is great! The staff at the Mac is also amazing and provided perfect service at the wedding I officiated for Joyful Receptions this summer!
Jordan R — Google review
As a Wedding Vendor - DJ MasterMix we have to say this is an amazing and Beautiful venue that you are your guests can celebrate in your wedding or any celebration. We cant wait to be back celebrating in another wedding here. Staff are also so great to work with.

The park offers various recreational activities such as walking trails spanning approximately five kilometers and a well-regarded playground known as Every Kids a Hero Inclusive Adventure. My family and few friends were on our way to north of Barrie, we have stopped here for a quick break. Very convenient. The park is very big. It has a children park free car park Wash room picnic tables and more. Place to walk around
Mohammathneeyaas A — Google review
Adore this park. The kids have a play area. The trails are nice, whether you choose you have short or longer ones or explore the depths of the forest. If you choose to venture inside you'll get a beautiful view of a stream with a bridge and a different feel of the park. The open areas, flower beds and variety of plants makes this park well worth it.
Smriti R — Google review
This park is great for both quiet moment as well as bringing your kids to explore some of the unique flowers, trees...sit around and relax. The park was quiet when I visited between 5:30 to 6:30pm est. Didn't get to explore all of it but it is pretty nice.
Dil B — Google review
Went here to take some wedding photos and it was a perfect backdrop. Really pretty area with a neat little shelter (which proved useful when it started to rain). Wasn't too busy the couple times we went on the weekend (once to scope out the park and the other to actually take the wedding photos). So people could space out nicely to relax, have a picnic or walk their dogs. I believe there's a dog park area in the vicinity too.
Jocelyn Y — Google review
It was about a hour drive to the Arboretum. The weather was good. It was not very busy. Plenty parkings. The pavilion looked beautiful. The inter connected natural trails behind the Arboretum was sceneric. It is in the city limit, but very tranquil and peaceful. Liked the mouse and mushrooms sculpture.
Patrick X — Google review
Ample room to park and play at Sunnidale. Great place for kids, dogs and older people. Nice tracking area for runners, track includes uphill and jungle and small bridges to pass. For kids great playground included circuits and swings. High school kids come for botanical vast variety. Enjoy visitors
Inderjeet S — Google review
Perfect family park for picnics . Nice play area for Kids , full time pass and fun for kids. Lots of parking space .. Disappointment is there are Gypsy moth caterpillars are allover the park ...parking area ,walk area and whereever there are trees .Be care ful. As we dont want to take chance ..left the park so quickly. If you plan to spend more time at the park be prepared & with kids try to avoid.
R K — Google review
Such a beautiful place. Kids have fun at the park. Adults can walk around and de-stress from a long week of work. Doggos can run free! Teens can adventure through the forest. There's even some decent hiking trails.

Spirit Catcher

Mentioned on
7 lists
Sculpture
Sights & Landmarks
Nestled along the picturesque shores of Kempenfelt Bay, the Spirit Catcher stands as a striking 21-metre kinetic sculpture that draws inspiration from indigenous mythology, particularly the thunderbird. Crafted by artist Ron Baird for Expo 86 in Vancouver, this impressive piece was later donated to enhance Barrie's artistic landscape and installed in 1987. Today, it serves as a prominent landmark and cultural symbol for both locals and visitors alike.
The Barrie Spirit Catcher is an iconic and mesmerizing landmark along Kempenfelt Bay. Its towering metal wings are not only a stunning piece of art but also a symbol of the city’s Indigenous heritage and vibrant spirit. A must-see spot for anyone visiting Barrie—especially at sunrise or sunset, when it stands beautifully against the sky.🍂
Gurkamal S — Google review
Great place to reflect on Canadian history and have a moment of reflection. Ron Baird's Spirit Catcher. He states that the inspiration for his sculpture stemmed from the oral traditions of the Anishinaabe. I photographed this sculpture using a Kodak Brownie Bullet. This camera was manufactured in the same year that numerous residential schools opened their doors. For example the "Amos Indian Residential School" (1955-1973) was essentially a concentration camp where thousands of innocent children were mercilessly abused at the hands of the Church. When I removed the film roll my finger slipped and the 127 spool loosened a lot. They allowed for massive light leaks and caused major damage before I secured it. The damage to the film stock is indicative of the damage done to the European and Anishinaabe relationship. Furthermore the light leaks appear as if they are erasing the sculpture much like Canada's efforts to erase Indigenous people.
Douglas J — Google review
I was very impressed with experiencing the Spirit Catcher. I received my new spirit from there. Barrie is an amazing place to visit. I love ❤️ it so much and will visit again with my family 👪 I visited today with Kumar & Mark 📌 Kumar is the owner of Soldier Gear and Mark 🚩 is the Barber at Soldier Gear also. Mark gave me a cut & shave and his work is worth $100 for the excellent job he did. Very impressed 😮 and now he is my Barber for Life. Great Job Soldier Gear ⚙️ Keep up the Excellent customer service experience.

There is nothing but one sculpture, for that will have to pay 10 dollars for just one hour parking. Does not worth it
He H — Google review
The Spirit Catcher sculpture in Barrie, Ontario, is a striking symbol of the city's vibrant arts and culture scene. Designed by artist Ron Baird, this iconic structure stands tall at the waterfront, resembling a large bird with outstretched wings. Its dynamic form and gleaming steel construction make it a captivating focal point along the scenic shoreline of Kempenfelt Bay. The Spirit Catcher serves as a beacon of inspiration and creativity, inviting visitors to contemplate its beauty and significance. Whether admired from afar or explored up close, this beloved sculpture embodies the spirit of Barrie and is a must-see attraction for locals and tourists alike. Parking is available
Ahsaan R — Google review
The Spirit Catcher- the big sculpture is little on the hill. So view was great! And also a harbor was there. So can see many boats too. Parking lot fee is $1 a hour.
Miho H — Google review
Beautiful boardwalk, so in love with it: excellent for family times, biking, long walking (I did 10 km back and forth). With the autumn, you don't even notice that you do the workout : it's so beautiful out there
Rose-Marie F — Google review
Very big metal statue of a thunderbird called Spirit Catcher donated in 1986. Created by Artist Ron Baird. Looks rustic. Parking is available right beside the statue but it is not free. We came in the winter months and the path is not clear so you have to climb over snowbanks if you want to get closer to the plaques to read information about the art installation. It’s a good 5 min break or for a quick drive by as a point of interest if you happen to be in the area.

Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery

Brewpub
Nestled in the heart of Barrie, Ontario, Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery is a must-visit for beer enthusiasts. This local gem offers a vibrant setting and a unique selection of craft beers. Visitors can enjoy free tours with tastings and explore the small shop on-site. Known for their wild and eccentric beers, Flying Monkeys produces some of the most creatively designed cans in Ontario's brewery scene.
Great place to get craft beer! The place is colourful and their beers are as colourful! They host a free tour on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) at 1 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm, & 4 pm. Max of 8 people, first come, first served. We did that and it was good! It last for approx 45-1hr, and they talk about the history of flying monkeys and how to make a beer! We came back late at night to check the vibe and they have live performances. Staff are friendly, they have gender neutral washrooms.
April T — Google review
I went to this place for lunch and ordered a meat sandwich, but unfortunately, it was pretty disappointing. It sounded great on the menu, but it lacked flavor and didn’t live up to the description. The atmosphere also didn’t feel right for a relaxed lunch. The place is right by the street, so it’s very noisy, and there were several moments when people experiencing homelessness walked by asking for something. It made the experience a bit uncomfortable. I got the sense that it’s more of a nighttime spot, and to be fair, they do have a good selection of beers. Maybe it’s better to visit in the evening, but for lunch, it really didn’t hit the mark.
Monny G — Google review
This is the best brewery in Barrie. The venue is immaculate with the band posters on the roof and really just every inche of the place covered in something cool. Drinks are fantastic and food is delicious. If you are looking for breweries I would recommend stopping in!
Connor P — Google review
What an amazing place but most importantly hell of a great beer. Atmosphere is uplifting, very colorful place and the live music was a hit. The pretzel was out of this world and the sausage board to die for. Good job Flying Monkeys 👏🏻💪🏻👍🏻
Angel C — Google review
Great place and vibe. Awesome beer selection. A few things to keep in mind: 1. They don’t have all the beers on the website on tap (they do have a bunch of good ones on tap tho) 2. They let homeless people in the brewery and that can be a bit inconvenient (as one of them approached my partner and I and we felt a bit uncomfortable) 3. Apparently you are not allowed to order more than one flight per person at once.(a by law thing they have I guess) 4. Staff are nice
Julia S — Google review
Always love their project beers only found in house. Stopped by again for a quick flight and shared an order of wings. Took far to long for wings to come out and were cold. Busy/forgetful staging etc who knows but with class they were quickly removed from our bill. Food here's typically great and is the service. Don't stop experimenting with your next new beer!
Michael A — Google review
I started with the Birdyard sandwich, which was absolutely delicious, and the fries were among my favourites—crispy and perfectly seasoned. However, I was quite disappointed with the tacos. The tortilla was unfortunately dry, tough, and had an off-putting smell, reminiscent of the kind served at the New former nightclub in Downtown Barrie. The combination of pickled ingredients, sweet jalapeños, and sour cream created a flavour profile that felt unbalanced to me—almost like baby reflux in taste and texture. That said, the service was excellent and the atmosphere vibrant and upbeat. Chef, please don’t take this the wrong way—fusion and street food can be incredible when the flavours are thoughtfully combined. I wish you the best of luck with your next creation and look forward to seeing how the menu evolves.
Greg G — Google review
No matter you drive thru or visiting Barrie On, you can miss this Ontario Craft brewery. They have 16 beers on Tap, pizza, nachos, wings to pair it. After the beer you can walk around Barrie lakeshore too. Sounds like a plan? 😀

This is a very nice park for anyone to enjoy. We went for a long walk right on the waterfront and stopped to workout at the outdoor workout stations along the way. There are benches and washrooms available. Parking is easy and close to the walking path. From the park there are many coffee shops and restaurants in walking distance. There was a large playground for children as well.

Chappell Farms is a family-friendly farm that offers a wide range of activities and events for both kids and adults. Visitors can enjoy interacting with animals at the petting zoo, which features goats, sheep, rabbits, chickens, and more. Additionally, there are attractions like the corn maze, hayride, jumping castle, haunted tent, and pumpkin patch to explore.
Initially, we were surprised at the $15 entry fee but were told that it included the pumpkin picking and a few other activities. There was a magical act for the kids and yes, adults can enjoy it also! We had fun feeding the animals (animal feed was $2). We then went pumpkin picking. A lot of large pumpkins were picked over but I did get a cute small one. We then got a tractor ride back to the main area. I then visited the gift shop. Overall it was a fun day at the farm!
Angela G — Google review
If you have a toddler and don’t know what to do…look no further !!! The whole family had an incredible time at Chappell farm! The animals are so cute and well kept. So much to do! 10/10 will be coming back and highly recommend to all parents. The donkeys stole my heart, they were so sweet🥺❤️

Very cute local spot for people who love animals! Lots of goats, a couple of pigs, and free roaming roosters! Definitely stop by if you are looking for things to do in the area. Great for kids.

Always a wonderful time in this farm. We get to come in here every Fall Festival courtesy of the realtor who sponsors us and among others for the festival. We get to pick our pumpkins, take a tractor ride, feed the farm animals, and eat snacks/lunch from the food vouchers that came with the tickets from the realtor sponsor. Always a blast!
Js D — Google review
We had an absolute blast here. What a wonderful experience to have with your family. There is so much activities to do with your young kids. Well kept place, and the staff is extremely friendly. We loved chatting with everyone around. We fed the animals, went on the tractor ride around the farm, picked pumpkins, we ate poutine, hotdogs, pizza and ice cream and it was all delicious. The kids loved meet Hank. And My husband and I loved chatting with Mr.Bruce. We will most definitely be back quite frequently.
Mariah C — Google review
We had a blast on a father’s day here. Our daughter fed the goats, ran around the maze and enjoyed the wagon ride. Really nice place and totally worth the 50 min drive from Toronto
Stan I — Google review
“It was one of the best experiences I had in the fall. The atmosphere is cozy and friendly, making it a great place to enjoy with family or whoever you’re with. They don’t have many food options, but the experience at the place is definitely the best part.”
Cristian H — Google review
Chappell Farms is a lovely experience from head to toe — truly a gem (& so close Barrie)! The animals are very nice, the prices are affordable, and the staff are very helpful and eager to make the experience a positive one. I loved seeing the Cow, Oreo, the new baby goats & the duckling pond. A very quaint experience, great for the entire family. Nice to get out of the city for a minute and interact with the wildlife — very peaceful!! I will be back again very soon 🐓

Farmers' market
The Barrie Farmers' Market is a vibrant weekly event held at City Hall, featuring over 50 vendors offering an array of locally produced goods. Visitors can peruse and purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, cheese, bread, honey, maple syrup, jams, preserves, baked goods and crafts. The market also provides a lively atmosphere with live music and food trucks.
Campbell’s British Tearoom has the most delicious sausage rolls I’ve tasted in a very long time! Their puff pastry is fluffy and soft. The sausages inside were juicy and flavourful. I have tried both pork and beef, and they didn’t disappoint. I highly recommend trying them out when you get a chance to visit Barrie Farmers market!
H P — Google review
There were not too many vendors in this indoor market. I was hoping to be able to find eggs and produces. Maybe in the spring/summer season, there will be more vendors? The empandas (Wela's Kitchen) and Portuguese custard tart (That Pretzel Dough) were tasty. That Pretzel Dough were selling their baked goods for $4.50 each or 4 for $15. Super Green Juice tasted good and smooth. It costs $10 each.
Eve T — Google review
Went there around end of April, happy to see they are open even through the cold weather! :) I bet there will be a lot more vendors durning summer weather!
April T — Google review
Great place to go on a Saturday morning. Gets better and better with time.
Daniel F — Google review
I love starting Saturdays at the market! Greystone Farm always has so much good produce - and always changing depending what’s in season. Without Reservations has an incredible breakfast smash slider that’s to die for - brisket patty, cheese, fried egg, special sauce and a hashbrown patty ;) they even have a vegan option! If burgers aren’t your thing, they even have a breakfast pizza drizzled in hollandaise 🤤 - can’t leave without getting a fresh baked loaf of bread from Nkosi Bread Co too - the jalepeno cheddar loaf is insane! Honestly so many great vendors for produce, desserts, protein, flowers and more. 10/10 would recommend
Dustin O — Google review
It's an outdoor market by blocking on street. There is public parking around the street. I found 3 vendor selling farm vegetables and handful selling baked goods. I really loved the family who set up leather and wood-carving stall. I also found two artists performing. I just wish if they could have added something for kids , like a bouncy house :)

Highly recommend seeing, ‘A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder’. Hurry before June 15, 2025. This comedic musical had tears running down my face a few times. Impressive local talent including the 3 talented musicians kicking things up another notch. Kudos to all.

Ardagh Bluffs Natural Area is a vast 518-acre nature reserve located in the southwest end of Barrie. It's an environmentally protected area that houses diverse wildlife and offers over 17 kilometers of trails, including the well-liked Ardagh Ring Trail. This moderate 6.4-kilometer loop attracts hikers and trail runners with its wooded paths, wildflower meadows, creeks, and varying elevations.
I absolutely love it! It’s massive and a true “lung” in the middle of Barrie’s South-end. Some areas might be a bit tricky, but it’s totally worth it.
Angel P — Google review
Urban gem of a set of wonderful trails. Well marked loops. Sign at main entrances, but I parked at the Peggy Hill Community Centre and joined just across the road.
Steve G — Google review
It's a beautiful forest. The trail is moderate and at times can get hard as it goes up and down a lot, hard to follow. The trails and the forest are clean but requires ample maintenance as there are lots and lots of fallen trees. I went during morning time when temperature was 24°C with some humidity. Due to the weather there were many flies and bugs. There were killer bees which followed me all the time and bit me. If you're not thick skinned do not try this trail, or maybe come during a season when there are no flies and mosquitos. It's kid friendly but because of flies, bugs and up/down terrain, small kids should not be here. Views are fantastic.
SPx — Google review
It's the best trail in Barrie. It's presenting different and beautiful sceneries to you in 4 seasons. It's covered by acres of mature trees. It's very cool when you hike in summer. There are several loop trails with valleys, creek, up and down hill, wild flowers, foxes and deers... There is no designated parking lot, you may park at Holly Community Center.
金玫Barrie J — Google review
The forest is nice, but ppl who live nearby have to clean after their dogs

Great place for PA day. Our grandkids were having a Personal Activity day (PA day) and they were off school. So our daughter took them to this place and invited us to join. They already went there before when our granddaughter had a birthday party for one of her classmates, and they liked it very much. It was Friday when we were there, and it was a rainy day, and there was not many patrons at all. This place offers quite a selection of games, where children can play and collect tickets, and rides too. You just buy tokens and feed the machines with either one, or two, or three tokens. The kids were having lots of fun. On the downside, some of the machines were out of order and could not be played, which was disappointing. The climbing structure, slides, ball pool, were quite fun and challenging too. They also have a dedicated area for infants and toddlers. The snack bar is so so. Not that many selection of foods. They just offer the basic items, e.g. pizza, hot dogs, burgers, chicken fingers or nuggets and fries, and that's about all. Free WiFi was provided, and surprisingly it was very fast. The kids really enjoyed almost the whole day at this place.
ValWies D — Google review
It's a good facility with a lot of activities and games for the kids. I'll definitely return, however they should change their policy on outside food and drinks. I should be able to bring a Tim Hortons coffee in with me and I should be allowed to bring a snack or bottle of water for my children. There are other play places in the area that allow this, so they will always be my first choice.
James M — Google review
Big play area and lots of fun for the kids. Greated by very friendly staff. We got a discount without asking because they are under renovation in some areas.
Darcy B — Google review
Food leaves something to be desired. Plus it did take a bit to get. However, value to money for something for your kids to enjoy makes it hard to beat.
Nathaniel W — Google review
To be fair, it has been a couple years since I brought my children here but we went once and never returned. The service was decent however the equipment was sticky and smelled really bad (like it had been wiped down with dirty water). I absolutely HATED that kids could run around on the equipment with food/candy (likely the reason for the stickiness) and I would have really liked to have seen some healthier options available at the food stand, especially considering the "No outside food" rule. I am hesitant but willing to try this place again. Hoping things have improved with a new manager and some updates.
Christina W — Google review
Very disappointing. I brought my daughter here on March 3rd. The place clearly had not been cleaned. When I walked in I was up-sold some tokens ($10.00). I bought them thinking I'd play some arcade games while my 18 month old daughter wanders around with my wife. Little did I know that ~80% of the arcades are out of order. I went to the front and the lady that sold them literally walked away. I went back to talk to the other girl (younger) and she said pointed to a sign that says "no refunds on tokens". I told her that I am not going to break the bank over $10.00 but I feel completely cheated. She said she feels for me and that her colleague should not have up-sold me as she knew that the arcades were all out of service for "maintenance". Thankfully my daughter is young enough that she was entertained by just running around and seeing all the other kids there. I will never go back - very disappointing.
Ben H — Google review
My little guy Riley has a blast every time we go. He's too young to play the games but there is plenty of other things there for him to enjoy. The staff are super friendly and the food is yummy, especially the new veggie bowls. We'll definitely keep going back and can't wait to have a birthday party there

Pizza restaurant
Located in downtown Barrie's waterfront, PIE Wood Fired Pizza Joint is a local favorite offering an in-house dining experience, takeout, third-party delivery, and even frozen pizza delivery or subscription options. With over 20 different pizza choices and the ability to build your own, PIE caters to all tastes. The restaurant's commitment to quality and flavor shines through in every slice of their artisanal pizzas with creative toppings.
This was our first time visiting. Discovered this place last year but finally had a chance to visit. The overall atmosphere from start to finish was phenomenal and our server Erica made the experience even more phenomenal. The food tasted amazing and both my husband and I were sad when we got to the last slice of our pie. We wanted it to last forever. I cannot recommend this place enough. You will not regret coming here to eat. We will be back for sure. Came all the way from Brampton and will be making the drive again. Well done to staff and overall environment.

It was lunch time at Pie Wood Fired Pizza Joint in Barrie and we headed for the patio because we were with out dog that day. We were a little hesitant, good thing they had a dog-friendly policy. Our hesitation quickly faded the moment we were greeted. The host immediately smiled and, without us even having to ask, directed us to a perfect spot on the patio where our dog would be comfortable and out of the way of the main walkway. They even brought out a water bowl for him before our drinks arrived, a small gesture that made a huge difference and truly showed their commitment to making every guest, including the four-legged ones, feel welcome. Our experience with the food was just as impressive as the service. We started with pizza with generous amount of cheese. For our main course, we chose a custom pizza with half "The Big Mack" and half "The Fungi." The wood-fired crust was a masterpiece—crisp on the outside with a light, airy interior and just the right amount of char. The toppings were incredibly fresh and well-balanced. The service was attentive without being overbearing, and our server checked in on us and our dog a few times, ensuring we had everything we needed. We left feeling full, happy, and incredibly grateful for a wonderful meal and a genuinely pet-friendly experience. We'll be recommending it to all our friends, both with and without dogs.

First time going here! We had a big group of about 11 people, sat outside with a view of the lake. Great staff and atmosphere. The drinks and food were delicious! We loved the salads, salty balls (lol) fries, fried pickles, and the variety of pizzas we ordered. Would go again!

Pie has a very nice selection of wood-fired pizzas. Original flavours and combinations. Decent prices, especially for the kids meal menu. Perfect location near the beach and other outdoor activities. I would definitely recommend it.

We were seated right away, and our server Emily was very friendly. My husband had the Mystic North pizza, and I had the beet arugula salad. Both were yummy. The patio was busy outside, and a few tables were occupied inside. It was a Sunday from 2 pm to 3 pm. Good food for a good price. Lots of parking for free if you're dining. And conveniently across the road from Centennial Beach.
Yonette M — Google review
Got veggie pizza . Absolutely amazing taste . The roasted garlics were great addition . Spinach and roasted pepper were great matches. Dough was thin and crispy. The lake view across the street was so pleasant even though there was a bit of car smoke smell. The staff were fast and friendly. I bought few doughs to make the pizza at home :)
Star V — Google review
Loved it!! If you are craving for a quality wood fired pizza this is the place. Dough feels premium, ingredients are fresh and service is great. I ordered a chicken pizza and a veg one, don’t remember exact names but delicious.
Rahul S — Google review
I’m incredibly disappointed with the gluten-free pizza I received from Pie Wood Fired Pizza in Barrie. I paid a premium for both the gluten-free crust and extra toppings—and this is what I got? A sad excuse for a pizza with barely any toppings, carelessly thrown on, and zero effort in presentation. The pizza was dry, underwhelming, and looked like it was made without the slightest attention to quality or customer satisfaction. I always try to support local businesses, but this experience was unacceptable. If you’re charging extra for gluten-free and toppings, the product should reflect that value. This felt more like a disrespectful afterthought than a meal I was excited to support. Do better.

Il Buco

Mentioned on

Italian restaurant
Il Buco is a refined dining spot that offers a traditional Italian dining experience with picturesque lake views. The venue exudes an elegant and cozy atmosphere, making it ideal for a romantic dinner or a gathering with friends. The friendly staff and an extensive wine list add to the welcoming ambiance. The menu features classic Italian dishes made from fresh ingredients by a skilled chef, ensuring high-quality meals.
This was an experience to remember. I grew up in Barrie and felt like I’d been to almost every restaurant here, but somehow I hadn’t been to Il Buco, even though I’d planned to go for the last four years. Finally, I got the chance to visit with a friend a few days ago, and it was incredible. It didn’t just feel like dining—it felt like an experience. The atmosphere and design were beautiful, unique, and a perfect blend of classy and cozy. The service was efficient and friendly. As for the meal, it was $45 for a three-course dinner. While there were hardly any vegetarian options, I wasn’t disappointed at all by the limited choices because each course was absolutely delicious. The daily special was a chunky vegetable soup. I’ll confidently say that, even though I didn’t have high expectations for it, it was the best soup I’ve ever had (a grand but honest proclamation). It was aromatic and flavorful, with just the right amount of sweetness, and felt both Michelin-star-worthy and homemade—like a warm hug in a bowl. For the second course, the only vegetarian option was risotto. The staff were friendly and kind, offering to accommodate my vegetarian preferences by preparing a different pasta dish not listed on the menu. However, I decided to stick with the risotto since it was already on the menu, and I didn’t want to cause extra effort for them, especially on what seemed like a busy night. The creamy mushroom risotto turned out to be incredibly filling, comforting, and rich—it also tasted like a hug. While the first two courses perfectly balanced the comforting feel of homemade food with high-end restaurant quality, the dessert took a slightly more playful turn. The third course, a mixed-berry cheesecake, was a cute and delightful way to end the meal. Although it was my least favorite of the three courses, it was still delicious nonetheless. I understand that the $45 three-course meal might seem a bit pricey, and I completely understand any hesitation. But if you have the opportunity to go, I highly recommend it. It was such an incredible experience that I felt compelled to leave this review (which I rarely do, despite dining out often). (Side note: I believe that on other days, when the mandatory three-course menu isn’t in place, you can order single dishes from their regular menu.) Thank you, Il Buco. ♥️

We walked in without a reservation on a weekend and were seated within minutes at a high top table. Staff were friendly and attentive. We ordered the garlic toasted, fungi pasta and veal. Highly recommend the veal, it was tender and buttery and melts in your mouth

I’ve been to this restaurant twice with my friends, and we’ve tried a wide variety of food and drinks from their menu. It’s truly amazing that not even once have we been disappointed with our choices. Everything here is served at the highest level of quality. What makes dining at this restaurant such an outstanding experience is not only their delicious, top quality food but also the warm and friendly attitude of the staff. I highly recommend giving this place a try, I promise you’ll become a regular customer, even if, like us, you have to drive 70 km to get here!

The waitress was so nice and professional. As a pasta and sea food lover, I was satisfied with the meals she suggested. It’s a place I’ll visit again for the quality and freshness of the food. Yum 😋

Tried this restaurant for the first time during localicious. I ordered the arugula salad, the risotto, and the berry cheesecake. My friend ordered the same, except she got the gnocchi alla vodka. The food was all very good. The restaurant was clean and the staff were friendly

Went with my girlfriend last night for a date night. Food was really good started with a Caesar salad and the roasted garlic, super delicious. Both of us got different pastas and they came out hot and fresh. Our waitress was lovely, very sweet lady. I recommend sitting outside if you can, at night they have lights on the patio and it’s a nice vibe. 10 out of 10, ps please add some pizza on the menu!

My wife and I went to il Buco last night to celebrate my birthday. Our server was amazing. Food was perfect and the atmosphere is always good in Barrie. we ate from the locallicious menu. 3 course for $45, you cant get a better deal than that for this kind of meal. Nice little Cocktail 🍸 to wash down dinner. Thank you ♥️

Absolutely amazing experience tonight at il buco. The food is some of the best (if not THE best) italian food i have ever enjoyed. You can tell everything is prepared fresh and the quality shows. For starter appetizer i had the calamari and shrimp puttanesca and the sauce was so flavourful i wish i had more. For my main course i had the veal mare e monti which had a delicious creamy mushroom sauce that paired perfectly with the rest of the dish. If i lived in town i would eat here atleast once a month. This was a true dining experience i wont surely forget anytime soon

Maddie provided outstanding service at the salad bar! She was knowledgeable about the ingredients and helped me craft the perfect salad. Her friendly demeanor and attention to detail made for a pleasant experience. Maddie went above and beyond, making sure I had everything I needed. I would definitely return thanks to her great service!

I was really excited to try AvocoBar because I had heard lovely things! However I was a tad disappointed. I paid extra for pickled jalapeños & I only found a small few in the salad, as well as the chipotle chicken. I had the cilantro lime salad & all of the ingredients were fresh! But I found the dressing had little to no flavour & they were light on the added extras. I ordered online which was prompt & wash to use, however, I don’t think I would return based on this experience.

Stalked is a great local place for a great breakfast or lunch. The staff are friendly and professional and always there to top up your coffee. They are a very popular place especially on the weekends and both times we have gone we have had to wait, but the food is delicious and certainly worth it. They offer the usual fare specializing in pancakes and stuffed crepes. Their sandwich selection is diverse and they make a great burger.

Yesterday I visited with my family Stacked on Essa Road in Barrie, I was very impressed by the server’s kindness and fast response. Food was great 😊 seats are very comfortable, different from other franchise locations. I think this location will be my stacked spot in Barrie from now on.

One of the best breakfast spots. Very kind staffs & polite serving. Standard menu options. Steak & Bacon are really good choices. I went on weekend and it’s too busy, should be there before 9 to get good seating.

This place is a go-to for my family when we feel like having a special breakfast! The kid's menu is loaded with fun, kid friendly choices! The regular menu is absolutely 'stacked' with great options. My wife recommends the eggs Benedict, with peameal bacon or if you're up for it, try their new chicken option. I also must add, their burgers are a great choice for breakfast or lunch depends how hungry you are feeling at the moment !! There's definitely something for everyone on the menu, so check it out for yourself !

Hats off to the chef the day we went to eat! Loved their food. I had eggs benedict AND 1 cinnamon/apple and cheesecake pancake topped with white chocolate chips and icing sugar. I 420ed myself before arriving! Waitress was ok. What I didn't like was that she was literally hovering over me while accepting payment from another table. At one point, I turned around because I could feel her standing over me. That was very uncomfortable. What I'm learning is that servers really don't give a crap about their tips. They make minimum wage, and anything is a bonus at this point. My waitress FINALLY made a conversation as she was waiting for her machine back. Either serve or get out of the industry. 🍍

Very cute cafe by the lake. Maps will take you on the wrong side. The entrance is on mulcaster st. Very friendly staff and great selection of coffee and baked goods. We had espresso and hot chocolate - both amazing. The almond danish was also fantastic. Hoping to swing by in summer... Their patio looked very nice

Interesting spot for a breakfast. This is located inside an art gallery. The seating area has a fire place and the staff are very friendly. The service is excellent and the delivery of food was speedy with little to no wait time. It's unfortunate that none of the food is cooked on site and it's brought from a prep location. We ordered an item that "still hasn't arrived" from the prep location so we had to settle on a different selection. I would not visit again since I prefer a full kitchen restaurant.

The falafel bowl (salad) I ordered was basically dry, only the white sauce on top, I was disappointed with the lack of flavor in the falafel, and there were on three little falafel in the bowl which was dry mixed greens (no dressing). I will not return as I wasted $19. Service was fine, but we were seated and given menus, then four people arrived after us at a nearby table, and their order was taken first. Long wait time to order & to receive our food. *Busy lunchtime. The area inside is beautiful and the staff were friendly. Americano coffee was great.

I was really hesitant to post this- and i almost didn’t want to considering i came to this spot maybe 3 weeks now but it was still on my mind about how horrible the drink i got was. I ordered a matcha and a breakfast sandwich- the sandwich was great no complaints, the matcha was embarrassing. A matcha should NOT look like that. It was the equivalent of serving me a coffee full of coffee grounds. There is a specific way to making matcha- clearly this cafe does not know how to make it, so why serve a drink you don’t know how to make? I paid 8 bucks for a cup of milk with matcha particles. I really did not want to leave this negative review but it’s not fair to customers to receive such an awful drink. Even when i did bring the drink back- which i was very apologetic because i do not like to complain- the barista girl told me that’s just how they make it and it doesn’t mix well when it’s iced. I will note, she did give me an iced tea (because i had to ask for it) but it was still a loss because the replacement drink did not cost as much as the matcha. There are several cafes that have perfected the iced matcha- either don’t serve it or learn to make it correctly if you’re charging 8 bucks for a drink.
Iman H — Google review
Details noted. Date square was perfect! Coffee black. The coffee shop is located in the art gallery. Lots of space to sit and enjoy a chat, have a meeting or do personal work. I found this building inspirational.. You should have a ☕️ here.

June 2025 I ordered a Hamburger with cheese and bacon, it came with fries. I had the food to go. The fries are definitely hand cut and if fresh are really good. The burger was just OK, nothing special, it didn't taste like it was a proprietary meat blend, to be honest it tasted like it was supermarket bought meat. It was also under seasoned. The service was good and courteous. The patio is a great place to people watch and enjoy a cold beer with a bite to eat. It was $25+ for my burger and fries...

🤮👎I was visiting Barrie with my partner! Walking down the main avenue! And we decided to try this place because of the live music and good vibes! We have 2 ordered the of beer tasting!(beer flight) They come in four different flavors! And it was the worst experience I've ever had! Not only because the temperature of the beers was lukewarm! But every flavor was unpleasant! Some were bitter! Others were unpalatable! What a horrible experience! It was disgusting! I don't recommend it.

Me and my girlfriends came here last Friday for some drinks on the patio and dancing, and we had such a great time! I wanted to give a big shoutout to the bar staff — especially our bartender, Jake, who was super friendly and made sure we were having fun all night. I also want to recognize the security guy Jeff who was working that night. We had an issue with a male guest who was bothering us and making us uncomfortable. The security guy noticed right away, stepped in quickly, and removed the guy from the situation. He checked on us multiple times afterward to make sure we were safe and still enjoying ourselves. Between the amazing service and the sense of safety we felt thanks to the security, this bar continues to be one of our favorite spots. Huge thanks to the whole team! 💯🍸💃 - Courtney

Stopped here after a nice road trip because it looked amazing online. Ordered our food, but it took a little long to come out. Despite that, I don’t think my experience was ruined one bit. We had our lovely waitress Tessa constantly checking in on us and being very helpful. She had a very accommodating personality and was a delight to have. The Farmhouse Restaurant

Restaurant
The Farmhouse Restaurant is a charming eatery located in one of Barrie's most historic buildings, offering a cozy atmosphere and Canadian cuisine. Situated next to the Allandale Railway Station with picturesque views of Kempenfelt Bay, it provides multiple dining rooms and outdoor patios for guests to enjoy their meals. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, making it suitable for various occasions such as family gatherings or romantic dates.
My fiancé and I brought our dog here and dined in for the 1st time on Sat. July 5th, 2025 after discovering that the Farmhouse is dog friendly (patio only). I called about 30 mins. prior to our arrival and was politely advised by the Hostess that we were unable to book a reservation since the outdoor patio area is a first-come first-served basis (which was totally fine). When we arrived, we were greeted by friendly staff and seated promptly at around 6:30 pm. Our female server was also so sweet and brought a bowl of water for our dog right away. We ended up ordering the cheesy crab and lobster dip and bruschetta for our appetizers and I was genuinely impressed that they used real fresh crab and lobster for the dip. The crab and lobster did NOT taste frozen, rubbery or watery whatsoever and the tomatoes and herbs from the bruschetta were also fragrant and a delight to eat. For our mains, my fiancé ordered the 'Randy Bo Bandy Burger' and I ordered the '8 oz Beer & Bacon Glazed Pork Loin.' I loved the glaze and the subtle taste of beer from my pork loin. The only reason why I'm giving 4 out 5 stars for food was because my pork loin was dry. Other than that, we still loved and enjoyed our meals. Pricing seemed fair to us and the hospitality/service and overall ambience were noticeably efficient, friendly, clean, and inviting. 😊

My wife and I went to Barrie and went to St. Mary's Parish which was part of the Pilgrimage Doors. We live in Toronto, so before heading back we agreed on having lunch first since is was already around 1:00 PM and second it was just so hot that day that we want pass the time so don't need to travel under heat. We came across The Farmhouse as we were on our way to the 400. It was a very attractive place. You wont miss it. There is ample parking. We were welcomed in and escorted to our seats. The restaurant was clean and spacious. The food was great. Farm fresh.

The Farmhouse is our go-to in Barrie for honest, local comfort food. The rustic, cozy space feels like home, and the friendly service keeps things easy. Plates come out hearty and well-seasoned—think crispy fried chicken, stacked burgers, creamy mac, and great daily soups—plus fresh salads and sides that don’t feel like an afterthought. We love the nods to local producers and the relaxed waterfront vibe (sunset dinners are extra nice). Cocktails are solid, local beers are cold, and portions are generous without being over the top. If you’re craving warm hospitality and classic flavours done right, The Farmhouse delivers.

During a recent visit to Barrie, I had the pleasure of dining at Farmhouse upon the recommendation of a friend. I opted for the chicken avocado sandwich, while my friend chose the Cobb salad. Both dishes were absolutely delicious! We also took full advantage of happy hour and enjoyed some fantastic Caesars. The service was excellent, making the experience even more memorable. I can’t wait to return next time I’m in the area!

Took a date here and had an amazing experience, both the food and the staff were fantastic! We started with the cauliflower bites, which were a great appetizer. For mains, we each got our own salad. She went with the Romaine, which leaned more toward a Caesar vibe, but either way, it was delicious. I had the Southern Shrimp (pictured first). While it only came with three shrimp, which felt a bit light, the flavors were absolutely on point. Our server was attentive throughout—checking in often and helping us out with takeout boxes at the end. I don’t have a photo of the receipt like I usually do, but the total came to just over $70 before tip.

Today was the start of Barrie Localicious where local restaurants offer a price fixed menu for a 3 course meal. Having visted here many times over the past few years it was a no brainer to come back. Started off with a Heatwave. (Malibu, lime juice, ginger syrup, pineapple juice and then an shot of Fireball) This was a very light refreshing drink. For my appetizer, Cheesy Crab and Lobster Dip with grilled pita, garlic bread and homemade potato chips. What's not to love about crab and lobster? Word of caution, when it comes to your table, the dip is very hot! My main, I decided to upside to the 16oz Grilled AAA ribsteak with a side of the seasonal vegetable which was corn on the cob with melted butter. I ordered the steak medium rare. It was very well prepared and had a both salty and smoky flavor. It had a lovely caramelized crust on the exterior with the right amount of fat. The interior was pink and juicy while the meat fibers were tender and had a lovely chew. To finish of the evening, the dessert was warm apple crisp topped off a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a drizzled of caramel . One thing that I noticed was the size of the portions. Having supported other local restaurants during past Localicious events, the portion sizes are a bit smaller. The whole idea is to support your local restaurants and when you try a dish, it makes you want to come back for more. I commented to our server Lindsay that these were regular sized portions. She said yes, that they are one of the few restaurant in Barrie who do this. This was a great experience! The food was amazing and topped off with great customer service by Lindsay. Thank you to The Farmhouse for a wonderful evening!

Went as part of a large group and sat at the patio outside. Everyone got their correct orders (even with dietary restrictions) and the food and drinks were delicious! I got the pulled pork grilled cheese. Fast and friendly service. Would go again.

Restaurant
Located in Barrie, Dunlop Street Diner has quickly become a popular spot since its establishment in 2017. The eatery is known for its creative twist on classic breakfast dishes, such as the famous Eggs Benedicts and hearty skillets, all made with locally-sourced ingredients. Chef Amanda Rider brings a modern touch to traditional diner food, while the vintage charm of the place is accentuated by historic photos adorning the walls.
Brunch heaven in Barrie?? YES PLEASE! 11/10 experience at Dunlop Street Diner — I’m still dreaming about that Off-The-Hook eggs & smoked salmon dish… poached to perfection, silky hollandaise, and the smoky salmon just took it to another level!! Chef's kiss. 🤌🏼🤌🏼 Came here for brunch with friends and it totally hit the spot. Atmosphere? Cozy meets cool, with a spacious layout and prime downtown location. Expect a bit of a wait (yup, it’s that popular), but trust me — it’s 100% worth it! Now, let’s talk about FRANKY — our server and honestly the brunch MVP! Hands-down the best service I’ve ever had anywhere. He’s got it all: super knowledgeable, lightning quick, funny, sharp, stylish… and okay, yeah, easy on the eyes too! Can’t wait for my next Barrie trip, because you know I’m coming back here. Dunlop Street Diner, you’ve won my brunch-loving heart!! Run, don’t walk!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A great brunch spot for hangouts! My friends and I got brunch here around 10 am. The staff made us feel welcome once we walked in the door. Our server was friendly, entertaining, and the service was fast! 😁 Portions were filling and we were provided with take-out containers as some of my friends could not finish their large portions of pancakes. I got the eggs Benedict with house salad and I chose honey Dijon for my salad sauce and how I wanted my eggs cooked. Very yummy 😋 The atmosphere was welcoming and the space was large. Downstairs were the bathrooms which had large stalls and were very clean ✨️ Would come again!

Dunlop Street Diner provides one of the best breakfasts in all of Barrie. Located in the heart of downtown, this is a restaraunt you do not want to sleep on. Always busy, so be aware of this and come early. We got the Benedict with the tator tot poutine, and it was great. Although a little pricy. I would highly recommend checking it out!

This place was recommended to us, and rightly so! If they haven't been on 'You Gotta Eat Here', they should be! Super service, amazing portions. Hubby had the smoked salmon eggs benny and said "Mmmm' with every bite. I had the peameal, cheddar, carmelized onions on brioche-SO tender! Our granddaughter had the biggest, fluffiest pancakes ever. This will be a regular stop every time we are in Barrie. Well done, everyone!

Absolutely loved everything about this place. Best brunch I ever had, best service ever and spacious and cool venue. And best food quality-portion per price too! Our waitress was a super nice lady that welcomed us and communicated with us in the best way possible. She offered us the special dish which we liked and ordered. The special dish included Avocado toast+ bacon+egg and fries with Chipotle sauce. Super tasty! We ordered french toast too, again the best ones I ever had!!! It was enough breakfast for two and only costed us 45$!! Will definitely come back to this place♥️

The four of us went here for Sunday breakfast / brunch. Food was delicious with fairly big portions, the coffee and OJ fresh and the service delightful,

Amazing place. From the patio to the inside everything is beautiful and unique Services are great and the food. I don’t have the words in my vocabulary to express. So delicious.

We’ve made it a tradition to visit Dunlop Street Diner after participating in the annual Terry Fox Run, and this morning was no exception. Right away, we were greeted by familiar faces among the staff, which was such a pleasure to see. As business owners ourselves, we know how challenging it can be to retain excellent team members, and it speaks volumes about the diner that so many staff have stayed for years. Once again, we enjoyed incredible food and attentive service from a team that clearly loves what they do. Congratulations to the owners and management for fostering such a positive and lasting environment. Whether you’re traveling through Barrie or live in the area, you need to make a stop here. This is the place! Mike Moore

Mexican restaurant
Cocina Mexicana is Barrie's first all-you-can-eat Mexican buffet restaurant, offering a twist to traditional buffets. This award-winning establishment provides all-you-can-eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner with smaller portions of authentic Mexican dishes brought directly to your table. The family-run restaurant prides itself on genuine Mexican hospitality and delicious food made fresh by the owner-chef.
Food was incredible, service was also really good and quick, you get fried tortilla chips and 3 types of mole when you are first seated. The drinks are also really good and well balanced! This place is definitely the best Mexican restaurant I've tried The restaurant itself is also very nice and seating is not too close together. They also have a patio, and roof top patio that opens in the summers and garage doors that open in the summer. As for parking there is parking outside but this can be hard to come by especially during the summer. Accessibility: the bathroom requires you to go up stairs. Not sure if they have a more accessible bathroom. Overall: Love it and highly recommend it!!

Arguably one of the most peaceful and beautiful patios in the city — perfect for a relaxed evening with great food and warm service. The team at Cocina Mexicana were absolutely lovely, making the experience feel welcoming from start to finish. I ordered a prawn dish in Diabla sauce, and to my surprise, the flavours reminded me so much of Kerala-style prawn curry! Rich, spicy, and deeply satisfying — it felt like a beautiful fusion of Mexican heat and South Indian soul. Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for authentic flavours, a calm vibe, and a place where you feel truly looked after. Will definitely be coming back.

They moved here from Burton Avenue. On a hot summer day, loved their patio overlooking the lake and the water sprinkler park downtown. We found our new best restaurant in Barrie. Portions were generous, tasty and fresh. Our waiter was so nice and served awesome Margaritas. Will be back.

Barnstormer Brewing Co. Brewpub Restaurant

Mentioned on

Restaurant
Barnstormer Brewing & Distilling Co. Brewpub Restaurant is a local gem that offers housemade ales, delicious comfort food, and flight-related memorabilia. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a great spot to enjoy craft beer with friends. The menu may not be extensive, but every item is expertly prepared, from the tasty Enchiladas to the spicy Nashville chicken sandwich.
Barnstormer has a great feel inside blending classic planes and wonderful craft beer. I visited for lunch on a Monday and there were some people there inside and the service was good. My server was quick, attentive and friendly. There's also some outdoor seating, but it's not a huge area. I would've said outside but the weather wasn't very nice. Inside, there is lots of seating. It's got a great cozy feel and there are lots of airplane posters on the wall. There was a huge selection of beer from Barnstormer, but they had beer on tap from other craft breweries, which I think is great that they maintain relationships with other brewers. I thought the First Class Lager and Mirror Pass IPA were great choices. For food, I kept it simple and had a burger and fries. The burger was fresh and not dry and there were more fries than I expected. I found that a nice touch. I would certainly visit again if in the Barrie area.

Amazing food and great service! Ate the wings and pizza so fast forgot to take a before picture. The pizza was so good! I have never seen so many toppings they were practically falling off. The server was very friendly and funny. We will definitely be coming back.
Emma B — Google review
From the moment we walked into Barn Stormers, we were greeted with the kind of warm hospitality that instantly made us feel at home. The restaurant's vibrant atmosphere was matched only by the delightful array of dishes that graced our table. The pizza was a masterpiece of flavors, with a perfectly baked crust that was both crispy and chewy in all the right places. Moving on to the burger, it was nothing short of spectacular. Juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection, it was complemented by a side of fries that were golden and crisp. The homemade hot sauce and gravy were revelations in their own right. The hot sauce had a kick that was bold yet not overpowering, allowing the natural flavors of the food to shine through. The gravy was rich and savory, a perfect pairing for both the fries and the burger. But what truly set Barn Stormers apart was the exceptional service. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, ensuring that our dining experience was seamless from start to finish. They handled children with such care and grace, making sure that the little ones were just as satisfied with their meals and experience as the adults. In conclusion, Barn Stormers is more than just a restaurant; it's a place where families can come together to enjoy great food and create lasting memories. The amazing service, coupled with the delectable cuisine, makes it a must-visit destination for anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience. **Five stars all the way!**

Cool place. Ok food, Not a real brewery at all. Only sells 1 beer of theirs. Retail store on 1 side, restaurant on other side. Cost is kinda high for what you get. Plane themed restaurant. I liked it, very different... beer keg urinals were 😎

My husband and I come here for the tossed chicken fingers… my girls and I come here for the server and bartender named Amanda! She is one of a kind, she’s the reason for our consistent return, she knows us all by name, she is a joy, always so happy and to see happy people doing their jobs these days is rare! We truly value our lunch dates here!! Food is great, drinks are awesome and service from Amanda is a 10/10!!!

Picked this place because of the reviews. Unfortunately I do not agree. Burgers were overdone!!!!!! Pizza tasted frozen. Beer that was ordered did not have a head on it. Not sure how a brewery bar can not know that all fragrance is under the head. Not our kind of place
Colleen D — Google review
Went there for the first time recently. Beer is just okay but service was fantastic. Our server was amazing & she gave great recommendations. My wife loved the fish tacos. My burger was superb and cooked perfectly. I guess that can be hit or miss with the new rules preventing ordering a medium done burger. Mine was at that perfect point. No pink but still juicy and not overdone!

The uniquely themed modern Canadian style pub boasts hearty delicious comfort food favourites. Not the largest menu you have seen but every item on it is done expertly. The Enchiladas were tasty and fun. Chilli cheese fries are a must try. The Nashville chicken sandwich kicks with spice but has room for heat. The overall experience value here is good. I would recommend everyone to give it a try.

Transportation in Barrie

Getting around Barrie can be a little daunting if you’re new here. We can help list some of the major public transportation methods if you don’t want to rely on a car.

Nearby airports

Toronto Pearson International Airport

International airport
Airport
Toronto Pearson International Airport is a well-organized airport with amenities catering to travelers' needs. It offers a wide range of eateries and shops, free WiFi, and rotating art displays for passengers to enjoy. The airport also provides accommodations nearby, such as the Hilton Toronto Airport Hotel & Suites, conveniently located just minutes away. Additionally, Budget Car Rental services are available at the airport for convenient transportation options.
My experience here, for both the arrival and departure was good and smooth. Arrival on AI 187 from Delhi was good for immigration , luggage collection, complimentary WiFi and washrooms facilities. We had to wait a little longer than normal to get off the aircraft , though. For departure, the check in, security check all was smooth. For facilities , the gate here is little different from other airports, the duty free shops are just beside the gates, the seating area a charging point almost on every 2 seats. The walking from check in to gates are longer than normal though. Currency exchange here are in abundance but the rate is something I couldn't find a rationale to. For the transfers to this place, Uber and Lyft offer to select the drop off point as per the airlines , Hopp doesn't have the facility though. To ride a ride app vehicle get a level down to basement after exiting the arrival gates. Overall a good airport!!!
Alok M — Google review
Toronto Pearson International is Canada's busiest airport, and growing. After reporting 43.7 million passengers in 2023, it experienced a 4.4% increase to 46.8 million passengers in 2024. The first time I used this airport was in October of 2025, when I arrived via Terminal 3 (from Washington, DC) and departed (to Phoenix, AZ) from Terminal 1 slightly less than 24 hours later. Obviously, this is a busy airport (on the day I left, they reported via X that they were "expecting more than 128,000 passengers with 956 flights departing and arriving [that day]... "), so they are as efficient as international airport I've seen. There is also the normal array of (expensive) restaurants and a variety of stores that are willing to take you money as you wait for flights. That is standard practice in international airports, and Toronto Pearson is comparative. However, with 14.3 million of those travelers (about 30.5%) reported to be connecting passengers, it never ceases to amaze me how uncomfortable airport seating is. I didn't see many, or any, places to rest, lay back, or lie down. Instead, there were thousands of the uncomfortable airport seats that you seem to be able to find almost anywhere in the world, along with the requisite passengers stretching and bending as they battle to achieve some level of comfort.
Jared B — Google review
Arriving at the airport is easy, it’s well organized and accessible. The signage for each airline is clear and helpful. Baggage drop-off and security checks are usually efficient and quick. It doesn’t feel overly crowded most of the time. Make sure to enjoy your stay in Toronto, it’s a beautiful city!
Sebastian B — Google review
Pretty good airport. I only really saw terminal 1 and it is very efficient. Not too much stuff, really about just enough. Just wish there was better convenient food options. Some parts of the airport are modern and others lesso. They have a family lounge area with movie screens and couches for kids. I like that the security is efficient even though the lines can be long. They tell you the estimated wait time above the line.
Leonard — Google review
Efficient signage, large parking garage, helpful agents. TSA line took about 20 min on a Monday morning. Bathrooms were clean. Food prices in the airport were not higher than outside the airport. Appreciated tables with plenty of electrical outlets while waiting for the flight.
Anne P — Google review
In my opinion, this airport is a bit outdated and I wish they could revamp for good. The immigration system is so outdated compared to other countries especially they been relying on papers and manual approvals. The baggage collection is the worst of all. Especially if baggage in two belts, I seen some staffs throw the bags the middle to free up the space (never seen this in most of the airports I visited). I need to collect a yellow paper from immigration officer and needed to handover it while I exit and it’s not even checked by anyone so what’s the point?? I wish this airport could be better and reflects the prestige of Canada. I write this because even Thailand airport is much more effective than this one.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Toronto Pearson International Airport – Truly Amazing! ✈️🇨🇦 I recently had the pleasure of traveling through Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), and I must say — it was an absolutely amazing experience! 🙌 From start to finish, everything was smooth, clean, and well-organized. 🧼 Clean & Comfortable: The first thing I noticed was how spotless the airport is! The floors, seating areas, and washrooms were all incredibly clean. 🧽✨ Despite being a very busy airport, it never felt crowded or chaotic. The overall vibe was calm, quiet, and relaxing, which made waiting for my flight so much easier. 😌 👩‍💼 Friendly & Helpful Staff: The people at Pearson are so kind and helpful! 💕 Whenever I needed directions or assistance, there was always someone nearby ready to help with a smile. Their friendly attitude really makes you feel welcome and cared for. 🤝 🚗 Plenty of Parking: Parking was also a breeze! There are lots of parking spots, and everything is clearly marked and easy to find. Whether you’re parking for a few hours or several days, the process is very convenient and stress-free. 🅿️✅ 🛫 Etihad Airways Experience: I traveled with Etihad Airways, and their check-in counters at Pearson were so well-organized. Everything from dropping off my luggage to going through security was quick and smooth. 👏 The staff were polite, efficient, and professional — making the start of my journey even better! ✨ ☕🛍️ Amenities & Atmosphere: Toronto Pearson also has a great variety of restaurants, cafes, and shops. 🍴☕🛒 Whether you want a quick snack or some last-minute shopping, there’s something for everyone. Free Wi-Fi was fast 💨, the signage was clear, and the seating areas were comfortable and plentiful. 🪑📶 🌟 Overall: Toronto Pearson International Airport is without a doubt one of the best airports I’ve ever been to! 💯 Everything — from cleanliness and comfort to service and organization — was top-notch. I left with such a positive impression and would happily travel through Pearson again. ✈️✨ Highly recommend Toronto Pearson Airport! Friendly people, great service, and a truly world-class experience. 🇨🇦❤️

It’s a nice airport with very poor signage. First off I’m driving up to drop off my rental at terminal 3. I pass a sign that says car rental with 2 logos of car rental companies. Naturally I say neither of those companies are the one I’m looking for so I keep driving. Nope. That was my turn off and I need to go around the airport again. Then I drop off my car and head to the terminal. There’s a sign that says elevator but no signs to say where the terminal is. Luckily I’ve been here before and remember I need to go up. Once I get into the terminal I need to get to Gate B. I follow the sign for Gates B and C. I start walking and it takes me to international flights. I turn around and walk back towards Gate A. I see off in the distance on the wall Gates B and C but I turn around and clearly see a sign pointing me in the WRONG DIRECTION. (See video) Lastly I make it through security and the area is nice and comfortable. But there’s a LOT of sparrows flying around in doors and they’re pooping all over. It doesn’t matter how nice your airport is, it’s not nice when you associate anger and frustration with your establishment from the very poor and confusing signage.
