Took my sister as a birthday treat. Had a lovely brunch beside the open windows of the open air seating, follower by an amazing cider distillery tour. We were met by one kind gentleman and guided by his better looking "twin" who was hilarious. Not only did we learn a lot, sampling some amazing ciders and liquors, we dodged paparazzi, had a still named after us and thanked a tree. Our guide was light hearted and fun, creating a narrative that had us in stitches and other patrons giving us looks and wishing they were part of our group. It was a great day and I will definitely look at bring other visitors here.
This place is amazing! My husband and I stopped here for a little day trip and decided to take the tour. Our tour guide, Anna-Maria, was so incredibly fun and knowledgeable. She had answers to everything and added to our experience. We tried delicious cocktails, ciders, and smooth spirits. So blown away by the history of this facility and their grounds are stunning. Highly recommend taking the full tour
I had the Cider Tour and Tasting with Colin and he was very informative and it was nice to meet him. The lunch was very good and I will definitely be back in the fall to get the newest liquors and have another great lunch. Since I didn't buy any of the Ciders I bought the Dark Rum, XXO Brandy and Raspberry Liqueur. The brandy is very smooth and tasty and the raspberry liqueur will be wonderful either on its own of on a dessert. Keep up the great work! Terry
This was the second time we've stayed in the yurts at Merridale and it was just as fantastic this time! The first day we did the cider and spirits tasting with main man Dan, he was superb and took time to chat to us as well as the comprehensive tasting and tour. If you can, ask for him! We also ate in the restaurant which was very reasonably priced and the food excellent (try the pies, yummy). Next day we went next door to Unsworth vineyard for a wine tasting but ate in Merridale the second evening as well as the food was so good. 2 nights in the yurts was magical and so peaceful. Great venue, great team (Dan we love you!!) and amazing place to go for a break. Will be doing it again.
We went here for a quick cider tasting. But they offered a tour of the whole place with tastings of multiple items they had on offer. Roddy was a great tour guide and we had so much fun. We then decided to stay for lunch on his recommendation and it was amazing. We found out they also have Yurts to stay in, which we plan to do next time!
Me and two of my friends took the Cider tour and tasting with Corey and we all enjoyed the tour. Corey went above and helped us with recommendations on what to do in the area which we did after our time there. Merridale is located in a nice area with many paths to walk around and the food very enjoyable. Thank you so much Merridale.
Great place to bring your dog along! Food was good. Drinks were solid. The orchard was amazing! This was exactly what I had envisioned a cool hangout spot with our dog on a road trip would be! Dog friendly 100%
Every cider we tasted was delicious. Nothing is overly sweet. It tastes fresh and flavorful. The service is top-notch. Dan taught us about each cider, the apples, processes, distillery and climate. The deck is a perfect place to sip cider. Food menu looks great, but we had eaten before we got there. Cider available in cans to mix and match. We will be back!

Honestly, we had a not so awesome time with a course Marshall a few weeks ago. Management convinced us to come back and it was amazing. Course is in 10/10 condition players assistant was lovely, pace was great, weather was great, carts were clean, well appointed and super comfortable. We’ll definitely keep this course in our regular rotation as we golf weekly
The course is great, but you can lose balls like crazy just a foot off the fairway - the rough just eats balls. The worst part, which I would give 1 star for, is the food accessibility. Nothing on the turn at all, and the cart girl comes by once a round with next to nothing but beers. I'm down to drink but without food, I'm dying on the course. I recently asked if she was going to refill soon, and she said 'the last group tees off in 2hrs so probs not', which struck me weird bc how are you going let 6hrs of golfers go starving lol. Very low standard for catering to the golfers needs imo.
The staff are all great people and the driving range is nicely elevated. $5 for a bucket of range balls. Free billiards in the club house!
Views absolutely stunning! Ambiance is clean, casual, nothing that sticks out to me. Food is really good. I wish they had more than three vegetarian options. Their vegetarian burgers are perfection! Service and customer service aren’t great staff isn’t overly friendly. Haven’t experienced over and above treatment or excellent treatment. Treatment there is average as a recurring customer!
We had the fish tacos and the strip loin steak sandwich. Both meals were excellent and generous in their portions. Service was good and friendly. A very nice place to grab a meal; worth going out of your way for.
The course definitely needs water and some parts of fairways are just dead grass and dirt. Signs indicating stage 3 water restrictions. Not sure how the island water restrictions work but other courses were well watered and did not have dead areas. The greens and tee boxed were all in great shape. The sand traps were good and consistent with sand and how they play. I still enjoyed the course enough to return the next day to seek revenge on the previous days score.
We held our wedding there and it was lovely!!! The venue prep was great, they were easy to communicate with and eager to help me have everything I wanted for my day. We did a buffet, which was really good & served hot. It was a wonderful day and completely stress free!!!
Frustrated and Disappointed I was given a voucher that clearly says “One Complimentary Round! (with voucher, per foursome)” and “Free appetizer, not including nachos.” Naturally, I understood this as a free round for four players. I even called ahead (after multiple tries) and was told it was valid for our foursome at 7pm. We drove an hour and had friends come from the mainland. When we arrived, staff said we couldn’t use it unless we also redeemed the appetizer that night. Then, they told us it only covered one player—not the foursome—contradicting what I was told on the phone. The wording is misleading, nothing about needing food is listed, and the explanation from the manager was confusing and dismissive. He walked away mid-conversation, leaving us to pay instead. We ended up paying for 9 holes but only played 6 due to darkness, even though the system let us book 18. The voucher feels intentionally unclear, staff seemed unfamiliar, and there was no apology or accountability. The members and waitress were friendly, but the handling by management left us feeling ripped off. I won’t return or recommend until the course clarifies these vouchers and takes responsibility.

One of the four oldest wineries in the valley with an astonishing number of varietals for their size where you will be welcomed graciously by the owners Maria and Xavier Bonilla. Make it a must stop in the area and treat yourself to what they are pouring that day. An interesting number of Northern European varietals explained and described with precision. There is a taste here to suit every palette. This is the wine tasting experience that California offered 40 years ago and hasn’t in decades. Our thanks to this lovely couple for an hour and a half of an afternoon I will not forget until we return next year.
A tasting for $10 per person, which is a great price. All the wines we tasted were delicious. Unfortunately, there was a downside from a hospitality perspective. Because one person still had to drive, we only did one tasting. With the first glass, we received a normal amount, which we shared. With the subsequent glasses, we received significantly less unpoured wine, just one sip. A real shame. Did we get less because we were sharing? The amount in your glass shouldn't matter in our opinion. Therefore, 3 stars and not 5.
Stopped by during a bike ride for a tasting. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. The tasting had a good variety from lighter to darker and ending in a dessert wine. What a beautiful spot! Will be coming back to pick up some bottles tomorrow.
We searched this place on a whim - and LOVED the atmosphere, as well as Maria who gave us the history behind them and their wine. The 5 wines she had us taste were amazing. So tasty we bought a bottle of the rosé and plan to buy more at a later time as we are heading home. We love the family feeling behind this winery and will definitely stop in again - once we come back to the island. If you’re in the area, please stop in! 10$ for a tasting and a lovely courtyard/vineyard to peruse and enjoy!
Returned to this winery again. Amazing!! It’s a great idea to find out when the Bistrô is open. The chef is spectacular!! Enjoyed Pino Noir 2022!!
Ate lunch at the Bistro. 5 star rating for 3 reasons: 1. Serene surroundings in gently manicured landscape. 2. Delicious food 3. Wonderful service - both attentive and unobtrusive We’ll be back!
My partner and I visited Cherry Point Estate Wines and we were welcomed with open arms. Maria walked us through a tasting and had unique stories for each wine, specifically the spritzy rosé. The property was a beautiful site, Xavier and Maria take great pride in their winery. We highly recommend adding Cherry Point to your next adventure!
High quality, well made wine including a delicious blackberry port! One of the original wineries in the Cowichan Valley, very knowledgeable. Beautiful property.

Started off a lovely morning for a tasting session in this small family-owned winery. Overwhelmed by hospitality of the owner herself, who introduced the wines and vinegars to us with her deep knowledge through interesting and friendly conversations. The wines are fantastic which stand their own charming characters based on the winemaker’s lifestyle and liking. A true hidden gem!
We are here for the 2025 Cowichan Valley Wine Festival. The owner and host definitely went above and beyond. Their Pinot Noir is also pretty unique, pretty oaky. We ended up getting the Pinot Noir for 45. One day would come back!
The wines, vinegar, and jams were all delicious 😋! The owner did the tastings with us, and she was absolutely entertaining and knowledgeable. This vineyard deserves a visit. Book ahead so you won't be disappointed.
I absolutely love this wine! We've been enjoying this wine ever since it was expertly paired with our meal at a favourite restaurant of ours. Venturi-Schulze has been surprising us every year since then with delicious red and whites. Whenever we take a trip up island we call ahead to make sure they are open so we can see what new offerings they have with an informative and delightful tasting, usually hosted by the owners and cultivators.
Lovely visit and great chats with the owner. Came away with some wonderful jams and a beautifull bottle of the 2016 reserve pinot noir.
Update: my burger was very tasty. If I where to be just a little picky, I would say that the bacon was a little under done. But I would be happy to recommend this restaurant in Vineyard to anyone.
The owner/operator was the best host and the wines were bold, unique and easy drinking! Such a hidden gem in the Cowichan wine country, definitely worth a visit!
Had the best time sampling a variety of wines and balsamic vinegars with Garry, who is incredibly knowledgeable and truly passionate about what he does.

This was out only winery in BC, it was a pleasant surprise. They have local jams and cheeses for purchase. The staff was very nice and their wines are very light and refreshing. Prices were very fair overall.
Wine tasting felt very rushed, like they were more interested in selling bottles and glasses of wine after it finished. A cheese pairing or chocolate would elevate the experience. Staff are friendly but didn’t learn much about the wines we were tasting. The setting is what made it, the surrounding vineyards are beautiful. I felt a lot more care was being given to other groups and maybe because we were a younger couple, who maybe might not have bought much of the back of the wine tasting not a lot of effort was given to our experience (ps I did buy 4 bottles of wine).
We had the opportunity to be the first guests to stay in the guest house on the winery grounds. It was an excellent stay! The wines were great and the opportunity to sit and listen to music in the afternoon on Saturday was very relaxing. Reading, sleeping in, great wine and some awesome dinners at local restaurants was the perfect weekend. Tricia and Steve were excellent hosts and the staff in the tasting room were extra special. Highly recommend staying on the grounds in the guest house for an extra special weekend!
The Cobbler Hill winery is lovely. The scent of the lavender is lovely. The wines were great and the owners were serving. A beautiful local friendly winery. A relaxing and peaceful experience.
Great wine tasty experience. Very knowledgeable staff. Exquisite wines. Well done.
Damali is one of our must-visit places whenever we are in the area. The estate is breathtaking and a great place to simply walk around. There is a cool labyrinth in the yard to wander through too. The staff here is always helpful, friendly, and welcoming. The wine is unique. Many of the varieties are infused with a hint of lavender, which is thoroughly enjoyable. The shop also carries a great selection of lavender products.

A great little shop with a lot of amazing things! Every time I visit I find something that I can imagine decorating our living space or as a gift for someone. The owners have a great eye for art and crafts; including the amazing pottery by Michael. It's worth a visit, you won't be disappointed!
Our favourite go-to gift store! There's so much to choose from, with a great selection of prices and items from tasteful to practical to quirky and fun. Anita and Michael are so friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed their special "Marvellous Mugs" show this summer, a group show of other local potters to join Michael's in house work. Overall an excellent shopping experience!
I always stop in Cobble Hill and this is one of my favourite "up island" destinations that sell locally crafted items. As a handcrafter/artisan myself, I always love to support my fellow handy enthusiasts. Great stop to shop at! I highly recommend it to anyone heading out for a drive and it's only a few minutes off the highway...so well worth the effort!
I'm local, but just discovered this amazing shop. Eclectic collection of cool stuff: ceramics, unique gifts...I bought a (reverse) funky umbrella, clever caption teatowels and a cheese knife set. I hope this shop gets support and loyal customers so these kinds of gems can stick around!
Great little shop! Quality gifts and interesting treasures . I always find something when I’m looking for a gift or treating myself. The service is always very helpful and friendly!
We love this gift shop! Wonderfully curated and an excellent selection of pottery including expertly made custom peices. We love our pho bowls!
Top notch gift gallery with a great variety of quality items including beautiful pottery by artist-in-residence Michael Giles. Well worth a visit.
A lovely addition to Cobble Hill village with great gift ideas, and featuring unique artists. Definitely worth a visit!

Celebrating a bachelorette on the Fabulous Rain Forest Ride? Check! Each horse was paired to the skills of each rider, ranging from never-ridden-a-horse to several-horse-riding-experiences. Horses in this group included Merlin, led by Andrea, our guide, Summer, Charlie, Bonnie, and Blue. Guide Andrea not only led us through the trails, she also shared entertaining jokes, horse facts, trail stories over her extensive experience with horses and her career, and highlighted the personality of our equine companions. Spending time with these beautiful giants, getting a glimpse of their character and relationships with one another, added to the experience, on top of a different perspective to enjoy nature from and some excellent fall weather to our advantage. The adventure on the Cobble Hill trails is an exceptional experience, and we stepped away with laughs, stories, and maybe some ab work! Thank you, Andrea, Alpine Stables, and our new horse pals.
Visited here in October. The guide was super fun and friendly. Horses were all well taken care of and calm. The trails were beautiful. Highly recommend!
Had a wonderful time on the Fabulous Rain Ride with my partner. Neither of us had much experience riding horses but our guide was friendly and helpful through the whole process. Would make the trip to the island just for this. Definitely recommend.
Haven't been on a horse since 2018, my sister and my brother and I decided to go for a trail ride last Saturday on the 18th of January and it was so amazing! Our guide was Andrea and she was so nice and funny the whole time and the horses were so well behaved and beautiful, was also my sisters first time on a horse. She was very nervous at first but once we got going she calmed down and looked like she had been riding forever. We will definitely be coming back soon!
My wife and I had a great time. Sarah, our guide was very helpful and kind. We will be back for more.
Riding horses has been on my list of dreams I wanted to do and yesterday my fiance made it come true through alpine stables. we both have never ridden before so had no idea what to expect but we were blown away by the dedication of our guide she was so funny and welcoming made us both feel like we've been riding for years. I have to say this team goes out of their way to make guests welcome. theirs grounds are so clean and well kept all the horses looked so happy and well cared for was incredible to see such an great team of people thank you so much for giving us an experience we will never forget.
Went riding here on the weekend and it was a lot of fun. The prices are a bit expensive compared to other trail riding organizations I’ve been to in the past, but horses are well looked after and the trail guide was friendly throughout the experience. If you don’t have your own helmet, they supply them! They take into consideration of rider skill levels too. Overall I’d say it’s a good organization and fun for everyone.
I wanted to do something different with my visiting friend and we had the best experience at Alpine Stables. We went on a two hour forest trail ride with Andrea, our fearless and funny guide. She has extensive knowledge of the horses, who are lovely and well trained, and the terrain where we were riding. There was a first time rider with us who appeared to do very well. I am looking forward to more trail ride adventures!

Charming venue, super-sweet people, lovely fruit wines. Tayberry! Fun family stop. Order your blueberries for pickup same day as picked. Fruit wine tastings and mingle with the horses, farm dogs
Great place to U-Pick for Blueberry. Owner was super friendly to everyone. The property is beautiful and there's plenty to see.
Very nice owners . Beautiful fields strawberries blueberries and they make frozen yogurt the good old fashioned way like G.Wilkers did. Highly recommended
Fabulous experience picking blueberries! The owners/hosts were amazing, showing us where and how to pick. We had a 2 year old with us. She loved the experience. The owners also gave us a tour of the animals-horses, miniature horses and chickens. After picking berries, we enjoyed their homemade ice cream made with fresh berries. It was delicious! Would definitely recommend this experience!
An absolutely fabulous Studio for recording music!❤️
Best frozen yogurt I’ve ever had and the kindest customer service! Will be coming back :)
I love Silverside for so many reasons, big delicious blueberries included! Also the view is amazing with horses all around. And the owners Lyn and Don are lovely and community-driven. Great farm to support!
Lyn was wonderful to show us around her farm. And we got into her Tayberry wine when we got home. I'm not a sweet wine guy and this went down smoothly. Thank you Lyn!
