Basically, grass baseball is often played at a place like a sports field, so I was excited to play at an official baseball field since it was the first time I played student baseball, so I went to the game from 1pm to 5pm. It was dazzling from the batter's and catcher's perspectives from around 2 o'clock! dazzling! Currently, there is no enforcement under baseball regulations, but it is recommended that the center line be oriented "east-northeast", and looking at this stadium, it is "west-southwest"... A long time ago, there was a standard called ``west-southwest,'' but the setting sun was so harsh that it was difficult to hit and catch. Personally, I like using it for afternoon baseball games lol If you are considering using this area in the afternoon or if this is the venue for an official game, please consider wearing sunglasses as a must. P.S. I'm glad the updated scoreboard is easier to see. Takayasu, at the southern end of the Ikoma mountain range, Onji Shrine in Yao City, Osaka Prefecture, is one of Japan's oldest shrines, founded over 1,500 years ago. Enshrined to protect Kawachi Province, it is a prestigious shrine, even listed as a Myojin Taisha in the Heian period's Engishiki. The current enshrined deities are Omiketsuhiko-no-Mikoto and Omiketsuhime-no-Mikoto, protectors of food, clothing, and shelter. The shrine is also known as **Moto-Kasuga** because it enshrines a deity that was previously moved to Kasuga Taisha. The most distinctive features of this shrine are the divine rabbit (Nadeusagi) and divine dragon (Naderyu), messengers of the deity, lined up in front of the worship hall. The rabbit is said to have guided the deity, bringing guidance and good health, while the dragon is said to bring good fortune and good luck. Worshippers gently stroke them as they make their prayers. The main hall's architectural style, known as "Oji-zukuri," is a rare style and one of its highlights. The grounds offer a panoramic view of Yao city, and it also connects to a hiking trail to Mount Shigisan, making it a popular power spot blessed with a sacred atmosphere and beautiful scenery. [Enshrined Deity] Susanoo-no-Mikoto (Secondary Enshrined Deity): Spirit Deity of the Goryeo King, Gozu Tenno, Koma-no-Okami [Related Clans] Clans with the surname "Okoma" or "Koma" According to historical records, In ancient times, this area was home to immigrant clans from Goryeo, Korea, and the prosperous clans with the surname "Okoma" or "Koma" likely worshiped them as ancestral spirits. The Wamyō Ruijushō lists "Koma-go" in Wakae County, not Shibukawa County, Kawachi Province, suggesting that the immigrant clans' residences spanned a wide area spanning both Shibukawa and Wakae counties. From the Middle Ages onwards, the area around this area was called "Koma-sho." This shrine was built by immigrants from Goryeo to worship their ancestral deity, and the original enshrined deity may have been the spirit deity of the Goryeo king. The ancestral deity of the Koma clan only came to light after the Meiji period, and until the Edo period it was worshipped as "Kyuhoji's Gozu Tenno," a shrine dedicated to Gozu Tenno, the god of disease prevention. According to historical documents, It is located in the town south of Yao Station. Originally a listed shrine, it was located on the east bank of the Nagase River, alongside Ryugeji Temple. It was washed away in a major flood in 1533 (Tenbun 2), and was moved to its current location, where a temporary shrine was located, in 1572 (Genki 3). This area is thought to have been the residence of the Mononobe clan, and during the war between Soga no Umako and Mononobe no Moriya that broke out after the emperor's death in 587, the second year of the reign of Emperor Yomei, Moriya is said to have defended himself from his home in Shibukawa. The description style in the Kongoji manuscript indicates that it has been an official shrine since the time of the Kōnin period (820). It is said that monks from Ryugeji Temple performed rituals there in the Middle Ages. In the early modern period, it was known as Tenjin Shrine and served as the guardian deity of Uematsu Village, Shibukawa County. Jingū-ji Temple is located south of Tenjin Shrine and was a Shingon sect temple. There is a large camphor tree in the northeastern corner of the temple grounds. It is approximately 16 meters tall and is said to be 1,000 years old. On May 9, 1949, it was designated a natural monument of Osaka Prefecture. (Translated by Google) October 23, 2025 This is a nostalgic town where I lived for about three years in my youth. It's also a temple steeped in Yao's history. Founded by Gyoki in the Nara period, this Rinzai sect temple enshrines Jizo Bodhisattva, said to have been created by Ono no Takamura, as its principal image. This is why it's known as "Yao's Jizo." I also learned for the first time that this temple is a branch of Konchi-in, the Nanzen-ji temple of Ishin Suden, Tokugawa Ieyasu's right-hand man and supporter of the shogunate. Within the temple grounds, you can see the graves of the Todo family members killed in the Battle of Osaka, a pagoda with a Morimoto Gyoseii hokyoin (hoshoin) stupa, and the grave of Yao Betto Akiyuki. Next to the main gate are the remains of Osaka Castle and a monument reading "The birthplace of Kawachi's oldest ondo dance." The third Ashikaga Shogun, Yoshimitsu, dedicated himself to rebuilding Joko-ji Temple, transporting lumber from the Yamato River. (Ono Takamura was a government official who was said to be able to travel between hell and this world) It was burnt down during the war between the Northern and Southern Courts, but was rebuilt by a man named Gorotayu Fujiwara Moritsugu. At that time, Yoshimitsu Ashikaga donated lumber for construction. During the Summer Siege in Osaka, it was protected by Konchiin Suden, and Todo Takatora conducted a physical examination of the head on the veranda of this temple, and the blood-stained board from that time remains as the Blood Ceiling. In addition, the red stamps given by successive shoguns after Tokugawa Iemitsu remain. Jizo-bon, along with the Bon dance performed by the Kawachi Ondo, is considered one of Kawachi's traditional traditions. Joko-ji Temple dates back to ancient times, and is said to have been founded by Gyoki Bodhisattva at the request of Emperor Shomu at the beginning of the Nara period. It is said that Cloistered Emperor Shirakawa visited the shrine in 1088, in the middle of the Heian period. At that time, it was called Shindo-ji Temple, but at the beginning of the Muromachi period (1389), Yoshimitsu Ashikaga dedicated a plaque of ``Joko-ji'' and ``Hatsutsuyama'' to the temple's chief priest, Osho Tsugen. Since then, it has been called Hitsujiyama Jokoji Temple. Before that, during the period of the Northern and Southern Courts, Masashige Kusunoki's vassal, Akiyuki Yaobetto, was at this temple and was said to have done much for the Southern Court. His grave still remains in the cemetery next to the main hall. The temple later fell into disrepair and was rebuilt, but the area became the center of the ``Osaka Natsu no Jin'' in 1615, and was once again involved in war. However, since this temple was owned by Ishinsuden, Tokugawa Ieyasu issued a sign saying, ``Do not destroy the temple,'' and strictly warned against the violence of the heartless soldiers, so the temple did not suffer any damage. did. During this battle, Todo Takatora is said to have changed the head of a vassal of Chosokabe in the hallway of this temple. The board of the hallway was raised to the ceiling board and still remains, but there are blood stains all over it, making it a sight to behold for visitors as the ``Jokoji Temple Blood Ceiling.''

I didn't know this at all, but there was a five-ring pagoda of Yao Betto in the back right of the main hall. Apparently, this person belonged to a family connected to Mitsunaka Tada and was a senior vassal of Masashige Kusunoki. In a normal year, everyone would have danced Kawachi Ondo here during the Uranbon party in August. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus pandemic, it seems that it will not be held in 2022 when I visited here, and it was probably the same last year and the year before. Biggest mall I ever seen in Osaka so far. Totally 4 floors out of it 4th one will be movie theatre . Rest 3 floors having so many brands and shops. It’s having literally all the shops . Toyota, kids zone, billabong, electronics items, bicycle collection, dress collection etc etc.
Family-friendly mall in Yao City – Perfect for a day out with kids! Ario Yao is a fantastic, family-friendly shopping mall located just a short walk from Kintetsu Yao Station. If you’re looking for a place in Yao City to spend the day with kids, this is the perfect spot. The mall is spacious and easy to navigate with a stroller. It offers baby rooms, nursing areas, and clean diaper-changing facilities, which make it a great option for parents with babies or toddlers. There’s even a small kids’ play area to keep little ones entertained. There are plenty of stores catering to families—kids’ clothing shops, toy stores, and casual fashion outlets for adults. The food court and restaurants have family-friendly options, including kids’ meals and high chairs. One of the highlights is the TOHO Cinemas inside the mall, where you can catch the latest kids’ movies after a fun shopping trip or lunch. Everything is under one roof, making it convenient and enjoyable for families. If you’re searching for “family shopping in Yao,” “baby-friendly mall near Osaka,” or “things to do with kids in Yao City,” Ario Yao should definitely be on your list!
Nice Place… i actually like they’re baby room, a place where you can change diaper, breastfeed in a very private area. There is also a place where you can check your baby’s kilo and height. I can say it is a child friendly place. They have more restaurants and shops that you can enjoy.
Great shopping centre! It’s quite large and multi floor with loads of parking. Many good stores here and clean.
Nice mall for clothes, food too like most malls/department stores in Japan
One of our easy to go place.. everything is in here

10th-century Shinto shrine & site of one of Japan's biggest festivals, Tenjin Matsuri, held in July.

When I was there, it seems to have a night event with busy staff working on setting up a few structures. Still, as an important religious center for the locals, it also has the venue for wedding ceremony and other important events. A significant shrine with magnificent history.
Osaka Tenmangu Shrine, dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane—the revered deity of learning—offers a rare moment of serenity within the fast-paced rhythm of the city. The moment you pass through its stone torii gate, the noise of the streets begins to fade, replaced by the stillness and gentle gravity unique to ancient shrines. Under the soft, overcast sky captured in your photos, the entrance feels even more solemn, inviting visitors to slow their steps. Inside the grounds, the space opens wide yet remains intimate. Buildings under restoration stand beside beautifully preserved wooden structures, creating a striking contrast between old and new—a reminder of how this shrine has quietly watched over Osaka for centuries. Footsteps on the sandy courtyard sound crisp in the cool air, adding to the meditative atmosphere that naturally draws you inward. The small sub-shrines, wooden gates, and traditional rooftops carry the charm of craftsmanship shaped by time. The purification pavilion and prayer hall feel welcoming, attracting visitors who come to seek blessings, express gratitude, or simply reconnect with themselves amid travel. The omamori you hold—a black charm adorned with gold, pink, and white plum blossoms—beautifully reflects the elegance of Tenmangu. It is more than a souvenir; it is a small piece of the shrine’s protection and warmth, carried back into everyday life. Overall, Osaka Tenmangu is a place where the heart naturally settles. Even with modern buildings rising just beyond its borders, the shrine maintains its own timeless rhythm. Whether you visit to pray for success, enjoy a quiet walk, take photos, or find a moment of peace during your journey, Osaka Tenmangu offers a gentle, enduring sense of calm that lingers long after you leave.
The shrine was gorgeous. A bit of repairing did slightly ruin its image, but not to worry. In summer months it gets very hot and very bright so maybe consider bringing a cap or some sunglasses. I’d also cover your shoulders if possible, knees didn’t seem so much of a problem. The smaller shrine near it is the centrepiece in my opinion though. Great for pictures under the line of Torii gates and also a quiet place to respite from the city life.
Beautiful place to visit and reflect! Dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane the god of learning and art, Osaka Tenmangu is a historic shrine that offers a serene atmosphere and hosting one of Japan's most spectacular festivals . It's a wonderful place to experience both the spiritual and local everyday life of Osaka
I was there on 25 July for the Tenjin Matsuri Festival. I saw the land and boat procession as well as the fireworks. The festival was super packed and overcrowded. The land procession was great. However, the boat procession was a disappointment: about 90% of the boats were tourists boats with people sitting there and drinking. The stalls were nice and the fireworks was good, but nothing really special. Leaving the venue was very difficult, as it was totally overcrowded. Overall, nice one-time experience.
The shrine is very crowded and traffic restriction is imposed during Tenjin Festival happening around end of July. Ceremonies, performances and parades are conducted around 3pm during the festival.
There was an interesting event happened. Man wearing traditional clothes on horse back doing archery. It was so cool and unexpected interested experience for me as a foreigner. The only thing was that the main hall was under maintenance and covered.
For now, you may want to skip this visit as they are undergoing some renovations. I hope to pop by when they completed the renovation. Locals still come by and do their prayers as per normal.

Recommended place to experience strawberry picking 🍓 by the way, the 30 mins provided is enough to enjoy the strawberries. you will feel your stomach very full due to continuously eating 😂
¥1700/head for half hour, free to pick(not take away), suggest to make reservation via online before. Very full book in weekend. Day off on Mon and Tue. Good quality strawberry! Takes 15 mins walk from Subway.
I’ve been here twice and it’s always such a great experience 🍓 I strawberry love it here! The walk to the farm is enjoyable and the people are very nice here too ❤️
The host greeted us with a warm welcome. The strawberry tasted so good with out having with milk or chocolate cream.
Disgusting behavior never want to go there
(Translated by Google) A popular strawberry picking shop in Yao, which is easily accessible and about a 10-minute walk from the nearest Kintetsu Onchi Station. I was nearby so I stopped by. There is no parking lot, but you will be directed to a nearby paid parking lot in Oyuba. A short walk from the Oyuba parking lot. The strawberry picking → Oyuba course is also good. There are many people waiting both inside and in front of the house. The prices for strawberry picking are reasonable. I didn't go strawberry picking because it was popular, but I went to the direct sales store. Strawberries for direct sale were on the desk in front of the house. This strawberry is Akihime. 1 pack of 300g costs ¥750. The pack I purchased has smaller grains, but it seems to be a slightly larger version. It contained about 320g. It was a little watery and had a weak taste, but it was good for smoothies. Is it better to buy large strawberries? They also sold large strawberries in cosmetic cases for gifts. It also supports various cashless payment methods. Many types of strawberries are grown during the season, with ``Akihime'' and ``Benihoppe'' being particularly popular. The balance of sweetness and sourness is exquisite, and you can enjoy comparing them 🍰 Admission is by reservation and there is a time limit, but you will be satisfied as you will be able to eat your fill within the time limit. Another great feature is that you can eat the strawberries you harvest on the spot. There is also a shop inside the farm where strawberries are sold, making them perfect as souvenirs. (Translated by Google) This area is where Shigenari Kimura died during the battle. During the Summer Campaign in Osaka and the Battle of Wakae, a gruesome fight to the death took place. He fought a fierce and courageous battle against the advancing Todo and Iise forces, but he finally ran out of strength and died in the battle. Detailed battle records of the Battle of Wakae were even included in old army textbooks. It was the death of a young man who had no shame and was loyal. He passed away at the age of 22. Even now, there are still flowers on the gravestones. Ryotaro Shiba also regretted his death and published a book called ``The Mist of Wakae Tsutsumi.'' ``When I left, I cut the edge of Kabuto's ninja cord. I have no intention of returning home alive again...'' The plan was to advance from the castle gates at midnight, but due to delays in lining up the various platoons scattered at various camps within the castle, we finally made it out of the Tamatsukuri Gate at 2:00 a.m..'' Shiba describes it with love and care. It was Shigenari's final departure for the Wakae area.
